Hey, Asnee, go get your mama. Asnee, go get your mama out the store. >> Stop. I'm not What do I have to push on? Correction Gerald. On January 6th, 2025, it was supposed to be a simple day, but a couple turned a grocery store parking lot into a full-blown crime scene. Instead of grabbing milk and eggs, these parents decided to leave three small children in a running car that was basically a slow cooker on wheels. When the law showed up, the father decided that playing track star was a better option than being a parent. Hey. Hey. Where is three? Where is mommy? Hey. 109 109 Is this your Yeah, this is my car right here. You got three kids inside? What is three? 109 109 109 How do I have to sit down on the hood of your car? I haven't done I haven't done anything. Well, this is against the law, so sit down on the hood of my car. I just used the bathroom for a minute. Okay, so you're detained. Sit down. I don't want to push you in. It's not on the available channel. License, bro. I didn't even do that. I just used the bathroom for a minute. Are y'all okay? Who drove y'all over here? She drove. What's your name? No, it's Blair. I don't I don't want to give my name. You have to. I I don't I don't want to give my name. I don't have to give my name. I haven't done anything. All right, go ahead and stand up and put your hands behind your back. No, I'm not putting my hands behind my back. For what? You haven't done anything. Sir, I'm asking you nicely, okay? Why do I have to put my hands behind I I didn't do nothing. What what am I being a Sir, I'm telling you. Go ahead and put your hands behind For what? I didn't do nothing. Stop grabbing me. Why are you grabbing me? I didn't do nothing. Hey, Asnee, go get your mama. Asnee, go get your mama out the store. >> Stop. I'm not What do I have to push on? Correction Gerald. He ran east across the [ __ ] lot. Where did he go? Where did he go? Did you see anybody run? Did anybody run in here? He actually ran away and left his kids with strangers just to avoid a little talk. It was a pathetic sight to see a grown man bolt like he was trying out for the Olympics, leaving three kids behind. It was a masterclass in cowardice and bad decision-making that left the kids as the greatest sufferers while their parents focused on saving their own skins. Did somebody run in here? Yeah. Hey, Lam. Did you say something ran in here? He ran into a back door of the building. Somebody get out with the kids. He ran through here? I think he goes to the right. On the left. It's locked. Yeah, we got him cornered. He's locked himself in the bathroom. He come out. You see Oh, he's not in the bathroom? Did someone run through here? Yeah, cuz What was he wearing? He's got skinny jeans. Skinny, black, white? Black? Black male. We need We need one unit with the kids. So as the mom looks around, she don't take off. 137 109, where's the Mazda relation your car? I don't see a Mazda out here. She is right in my Mazda on the the right side of my vehicle in front of the three kids. Negative, Mazda is no longer on scene. Can y'all step out while we deal with this? Like clear people out. You want to identify himself. He's got the kids. Get Get what Somebody get lethal. Put your hands up. Put your hands up. I'm telling you, dude, we're we're going to break down this door and we're going to send in a K9. We're going to send in the Hold on. Hold on. Hold on. Hold on. The search led straight to a locked bathroom, which is the classic I'm hiding something move. He likely flushed his stash, which explains why he ran in the first place, because you don't sprint into a grocery store toilet unless you're trying to make evidence disappear. The deputies weren't playing games, threatened to bring in the K9, and suddenly the brave runner became a very compliant floor ornament. What? Get on the ground. >> Get on the ground now. On the ground. On the ground. Do you not hear what that means? Get your Get down. Put your head down. Stop moving. I'm not moving. I got his left. I got his left. I'm not moving. I'm not moving. Let me up. Give me up. Give me up. >> Stand up. Just use your feet. >> Give me up. Give me up. Give me up. Give me up. Why did you run? Because I didn't do nothing. Y'all keep trying to tell I I didn't even do nothing. Y'all trying to to detain me when I I didn't even do nothing. Were you involved with all that stuff? No, I'm working. I'm working. It's the car. I'm working. I don't know what happened. All I hear is polices and I see my baby out the car. I hear people noises outside. I come outside. I see my kids in the street. Okay. Do you have a license on you? Yeah. Real quick, step out for me, okay? I appreciate you. Face the car. You ain't got a gun on you, do you? No. Face the car for me. You can ask the people. Walk over here. My kid Bro, I got kids at the house. I just paid for the store and What happened? All right, put your hands behind Go away. Put your hands behind your back. Definitely in there, too. Yeah. You said she's suspended? Yes. If he had anything in there, he flushed it. I cleared the whole bathroom. Yeah, trash can everything. Where the [ __ ] is my girl at? I'm going to She dissed your ass. You took [clears throat] off running. She What do you mean she dissed me? She dissed She ain't here no more. Like why the [ __ ] is y'all EVEN LOCK ME UP ANYWAY? Cuz I ain't even do Obstruction. Yeah. Put your feet in now. Obstruction? Are you serious? Put your feet IN. THIS DON'T PULL ME. You worked the mall. SHUT YOUR MOUTH. WHAT'S YOUR NAME? >> MAN, I'M NOT GIVING YOU MY NAME. >> All right. >> I didn't do That's another charge. Y'all not even telling me nothing. While the dad was being cuffed, the mom also tried to leave the scene, but she was caught. She acted like she had no idea why the police were swarming her car, even though her kids were sitting in a literal oven. She was shocked to find herself being detained, probably realizing her partner in crime had already ditched her. You left the scene of an investigation while deputy was out with you. NO, WASN'T NO DEPUTY OUT WITH ME. You can get my phone. I'm on the order right now. I was working. You have a suspended license, so you can't be driving around without I got I got my paper in the car. Who do I call? >> [screaming] >> THIS IS NOT RIGHT, BRO. >> MOM? YES. What is your name again? Santana. Okay. Y'ALL NOT EVEN EXPLAINING TO ME WHAT You got grandma or grandpa around here? No. All right, you and your wife are going to jail, so I need somebody to get the kids. Who do you want to come take the kids? >> My mom. I need your information, her information, or else I'm going to call D-Fax to come and take the kids. Which do you want to do? You want to give me your information? >> Where is my old lady at? She's in the back of a police car right now. >> For what? For driving on a suspended license and reckless conduct for leaving three children in a vehicle unattended while it was on. I just went to the bathroom. >> I don't care. I left the car so it won't be hot. Absolutely not. Take them in with you. I want to get them out of the car and like one of the other cars Y'all want Y'all want little badges? Yeah? You want to walk with me and go get some? Or we'll we'll walk together. It's okay, sweetheart. Come on. You can let them sit in the car. I don't trust y'all. You don't trust us? You trust the other officer? We got to We got to go over here. Hey, buddy. What's going on? You want to talk to me? They didn't just take my mom and dad away with me. They didn't do nothing. We're not trying to take your parents away, okay? We trying to talk to them, all right? And they It's going to be all right, okay? They didn't come with who? That [ __ ] is crazy. Don't worry. Y'all are going to go home in a second. No, [ __ ] You want to explain to her what's going on? The reality of the situation was heartbreaking. The car's AC was broken, turning that Mazda into a metal trap for three kids. These parents were absolute losers for leaving their kids in those conditions just to save their own skins. The deputies weren't buying a single word of their reckless excuses. Baby was falling out of car seat, 1 year old. Uh the other two Yeah, with the car running. The older child could crawled over and turned on that or turned on the vehicle. He's just angry. Yep. We got We got a call. Kids were left in the car. >> you did. I just went I know you got to go. I WAS RIGHT THERE. >> BUT THAT'S DID YOU SEE THE KIDS in the car? >> No. You can't do that. I understand that, but I was just gone for a second. >> Okay. All right, just walk Come back talk to you. Relax, the kids are fine, okay? >> What did I do? Two things. I was working. What do you work [laughter] at? I WAS DOING INSTACART. IT'S ON MY PHONE. >> OKAY. You're driving on a suspended license for failure to appear in court. >> No, I got the paper for that. I just went to that on May the 23rd. >> Reckless conduct, you and your husband >> Reckless? You left children unattended in a vehicle. >> Sir, I was working. He was in the car. >> him with you. You can't leave three children alone. >> the car with them. I got the paper for my license to be reinstated. It's in the car. It's in the car. It's not reinstated. I came out the store because I saw my kids in the street. >> I took my permit. Yeah. To to to work? Would would you drive if your license is suspended? I have a question. I was going to ask if if we could Yes. >> because Okay. And we might find a license or some [ __ ] >> Yeah, you go ahead, bro. Search the car. Chances are he jumped whatever he had on him in that toilet. >> Yeah, he did. Yeah, but his license might be in here or his wallet at least. Oh. Oh. Is it legal in Georgia? Illegal to possess but not carry concealed. I say it's fine. They're searching the car now cuz the odor. Whatever he had, he he dumped down that toilet. Look. Now you got a badge just like us. Got to be careful, okay? Cuz you know why? It's pokey. I'mma put it right here on your shirt. So you're going to be a deputy. In a moment of actual humanity, the deputies tried to comfort the oldest child with a sticker badge. It was a bittersweet scene because those kids truly deserve better than parents who treat them like an afterthought. It's a heartbreaking scene, especially when the people meant to protect them are the ones causing all the chaos and fear. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. All right. Hey, so your daughter's going to jail um and we need somebody to come pick her kids up. Are you able to come over here to I'm the primary deputy but I know that there was some an incident with the kids being left in the car while the car was off in the parking lot of a grocery store. Do we Is there any way that like we collect almost like spilled bud? How much like is it small amount? >> Or just we just need to >> like No, we don't worry about that. Okay, here we go. Didn't give it a name? No. I got Damn. Dejohn. Well, we can't take the kids. So you you'd have to meet us here. And I'm trying to figure out how is she going to jail up under suspended license. We just went to court for that. Her license is still suspended for failure to appear. We just went to court for that on the 20 on the 23rd. I got you. Well, there's still other charges that are other than the suspended license she's going for as far as I'm aware. Okay, I'm on my way right now. >> I appreciate you. Mom's on the way. >> Mom? 30 minutes. She's not mom? Her mom's on the way. Oh, okay. Check her name through RMS, please. Everything with Dejohn. David Edward zebra Henry ocean Nora. Do we have a black male? Oh, look at that. How easy. You got warrants. You were being detained and you decided to run. >> detained. I I I don't understand it. Detained for what? I ain't even done It's called reckless conduct. >> Reckless conduct? Your two older kids could have gotten in the front seat and put that car in drive. No, they couldn't. Yeah, we're going to hang out here. It's nice out here. It's cold. Does it feel better in here? Yeah. You like being a big sister? Is it fun? Yeah. I love it. I'm sorry if we scared you. We weren't trying to scare you. We just got to figure some stuff out, okay? Why do my mom have to go to the electric? Well, that your mom and dad did bad stuff. But they're they're not bad people. They just messed up but everything's okay, all right? I promise. Couple grams of so far. They're on the hood with some brass knuckles and a ashtray or something. The search of the vehicle turned up more than just snack wrappers and baby wipes. Finding brass knuckles and baggies in a car with children is a special kind of trashy. It proved that this wasn't just about a quick bathroom break. It was about a lifestyle that was dangerous for everyone involved. >> Baby, my my my baby my baby baby. Is your baby baby in the car? >> My 9-month baby. Was he in the He was in the car. She was in the car. >> When you got pulled over just a second ago? She was in the car with the other two that just got out the car. She's 9 months. That's what I'm saying. Is she crying? She need her milk bottle like No, why you should have thought about that? I was in the store working. I'm here trying to make some goddamn money to feed my goddamn kid. With all those warrants getting in trouble running from law enforcement. Running from law enforcement for what? >> All the warrants. For what? For what? For what? For what? Warrant for what? You got a bunch of warrants. For what? Tell me for what? I'll tell you what for what right now. Yes. Driving while suspended. Yes. Uh battery >> 48. It is going to be her dogs. Related objects. NO. RELATED OBJECTS. I'mma give this to her. Hi. I got this for you. You're welcome. Wait, do y'all know Dejohn? Who's Dejohn? Is that your your dad? I don't know him. I never met him before. Well, I see they know him. Well, he went to jail a lot of the time but I this time So why are y'all taking him to jail? But he didn't do nothing wrong this time. So why Hey, bro. are y'all taking him away? I got a I got a warrant for you. Related object? Yeah. I never been in trouble for Oh, okay. Now you are. >> [laughter] >> I must be a lord. I must be a kingpin lord. I must be a murderer. Ah. >> [laughter] >> Oh, man. What kind of job I got? You got some Locked in the back of the patrol car, the dad finally pulled the racist card out of his pocket. It was a desperate attempt to shift the blame, ignoring that the cops were there to rescue three black children he had abandoned in a hot car. He tried to act like a martyr but he just looked like a coward who got caught. The irony was thick enough to cut with a knife but the deputies just kept driving him toward his new home. Hello. Mama, he fools crazy. Hey, can you hear me? Yes. Are you coming by yourself? Why? Cuz I don't want to have to tow this vehicle. Oh, I need somebody to come and get her car. [clears throat] Okay, let me get Well, let me get her father. Well, if you're on if you're already on the way stay on the way that way you can get these grandbabies. Charges? Y'all got Both of them from the car. And he was in the car. He was out there in the car trying to regain access to the car. I mean, if you can articulate him being in the car prior to her leaving. We said that that she drove them there. So Who was that in the car? There was one of these was on the ground in the back seat where the kids were and one of them there was a little this little baggy was in that bag with the ashtray thing and then this was just in the passenger passenger door. Tell them be okay to my mom. Yeah, yeah. They're your your infant is over there chuckling and and laughing. They just fed her a whole bottle of milk. But they're all they're all fine and none none of them are up are upset. We're doing our best to keep them sane in this incident. That's my mom in that car. And it's hard to drive. I don't know how she going to feel when I tell her about that I Nah, he's a good guy. And let me tell you this. This is the crazy part. If y'all would have been cool and you would have gave me your ID, you have to go cuz of warrants. That's just how it is. But she would have been in a much better situation. Yeah, when you took off she jumped in that car. She saw my patrol car there, jumped in that car and took off. For the last months and months and months. I stay in the Everhome. I pay $720 a week. What money do I have? The only silver lining was the grandmother arriving to pick up the pieces of this broken family. The parents were off to enjoy the premium accommodations of the county jail while the kids finally got a chance to be safe. It was a loud, messy lesson in what happens when you prioritize your warrants and your stash over your own flesh and blood. I stay in the Everhome right here. Y'all got enough to buy Hey, I would tell you Tell me. You smoked my ass around that corner. No, you didn't. I went around this here, bro. I I if I had somewhere to go I would have burnt y'all. >> [laughter] >> Yeah. I would have really burnt y'all. I believe that. Oh, yeah. I know they did. I would have burnt y'all. Yeah, I saw I saw that door open. I said, "Hey, you want to run here?" And he's like, "Oh, yeah." >> Yeah, yeah. That that was Hey, you That was a police camera. Hey, I'm going to Hey, for a long did me dirty, bro. I got a chest cold, man. And you done made me made me run across that damn parking lot. I heard the taser. And that taser don't play though. You lucky. I know. You lucky. Got all these warrants, man. Why you got all these warrants? >> I'm trying to get it behind me, bro. I've been homeless. I have not had a job. >> You got to take care of the warrants before you can move on. >> I I've been with my kids, bro. I can't I can't leave them. They don't have no way nobody Cuz now look, bro. Now now you going to get locked up. I ain't swinging no powers or I go to work. I come home to my kids. The ones you left in the car? You talking about the kids? You talking about the kids you left in the car? Yeah, with the air one. With the air one. I just wanted to use the bathroom. Yes, sir. >> Got you. I have six kids. Got it. And this ain't Atlanta, bro. I know. He's going to break his ass. You got from Mississippi down here. What? I don't know. that you had in the car? I don't know nothing about that. Y'all still Y'all still locking people up Damn. Do what? >> [laughter] >> Yeah. Yeah, you go. If it's Y'all still locking I I I don't know nothing about no I don't smoke No, yeah. Me me either. Why y'all locking people up for drinking alcohol? Alcohol is not illegal to drink. Is it illegal? I need to know. Get behind the wheel and kill each other. Oh, we arrest them all day long. Alcohol ain't illegal God hasn't steered away from doing it. Ain't that the truth, brother. In the end, two people who shouldn't have been in charge of a goldfish were finally off the streets. They prioritized drugs, weapons, and running from the law over the safety of their children. It was a long day for the deputies but a much longer and safer night for the kids who finally got away from them. Dejohn and Santana were officially slammed with charges including reckless conduct, possession of marijuana, obstruction of a law enforcement officer, and driving while license suspended.
