I think >> I am fine. It doesn't hurt. >> Okay. >> When I breathe, it doesn't hurt. >> I'm not going to lay down on this and you're not taking me anywhere. >> AB really heavy duty classic one. >> Unfortunately, nobody's complying. >> Okay. >> Some people treat the public highway like their own personal racetrack, ignoring every rule of safety and common sense. On the afternoon of October 13th, 2024, [music] 63-year-old Michelle decided that her schedule was far more important than the lives of everyone else sharing the road. Driven by a toxic mix of entitlement and impatience, she caused a multi-car collision that left [music] a trail of destruction and heartbreak. It's absolutely disturbing to watch people take their last breaths while the woman who caused it stands there acting like she just had a minor fender bender at a grocery store. They both have a pulse. I don't want to move them. I'm medical >> down there, too. >> Is anybody in there? >> Yeah, she is conscious. >> Okay. Okay. The most severe person So, they both have the fake holes. Okay. >> I just didn't want to move them because I'm worried about neck injuries or back injuries. >> We got nonresponsive fake holes on the driver's seat. >> I just for one car down in the ditch that's about or starting to catch on fire. >> We got Okay. your medical ma'am. >> Okay. >> Do you need anything? >> No. >> Hi. Are you okay? >> Yeah, I am. >> She says she had her head. >> I don't think you should wait for a friend to get you. I think >> I am fine. It doesn't hurt. >> Okay. >> When I breathe, it doesn't hurt. No ribs. >> Breathe. >> Hang tight for me. Hey. Hey. If they stop, we do. I do have a AED, too, if we need one of those. >> Here we go. >> You want the AED? >> Yeah. >> Who's the driver of this vehicle? >> She's on the floor. >> She can move though. >> She can move. She can squeeze my hands. Wiggle toes. >> Okay. >> Okay. Any bleeding or anything anywhere? >> Um, I don't know. Just on my my arm. >> Just your arm. Okay. That's It doesn't look like it's gushing or anything. Okay. >> Um >> you want to just stay with her? >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> Yeah. They're >> There you go. >> They both have She's very >> in and out. >> In and out. >> 63-year-old Michelle was driving her Honda Accord westbound [music] in the eastbound lane at high speed, passing multiple cars in a marked no passing zone. As she neared a curve, she saw an eastbound Honda Fit and tried to merge back to her lane to avoid a crash. In the process, [music] she hit the rear passenger side of a Subaru, causing it to spin into the path of the oncoming Honda Fit in a t-bone collision. Both cars ended up on the side of the curve while Michelle's [music] car rolled into a ditch and hit a tree. She escaped uninjured. The others were not so lucky. >> No more pulse. >> We're going to lose him. >> Easy. Do we want to get them out to do it or >> call? Follow these instructions. >> Make sure 911 is called now. >> Begin by >> I'm going to hand you guys a pack. >> Do not touch the patient. >> Do not touch. Do not touch. >> Please wait. >> Shocks not advised. It is not to touch the patient. If needed, perform compressions as instructed. >> Hello. >> Hi. >> Do you have your driver's license on you? Um, no. I It's Oh, where is my purse? >> Do I have it? No. Oh, >> I'm sorry. It's over here, isn't it? >> Okay, that's fine. >> Oh, no. I wish I could get my stuff out of there. >> All right, go ahead and have a seat for me. So, what happened? >> So, I'm driving this way and there was like a big area to pull in, a big area. And I was passing I passed like three cars. >> Okay. And so and and so I turned my turn signal in and I pulled in and as I pulled in this guy slowed way or girl slowed way down and I hit the corner in her car. >> Okay, >> that's what happened. So I mean I know that that's supposed to be my fault. Okay. >> But I didn't do anything wrong. >> Uh right now traffic. >> Yeah. >> It's going to be blocked. So anybody that way if they didn't witness it, just turn them around. >> Okay. >> You're so bossy. >> I know. This guy needs to get commander. >> Is there a mouthpiece in this bag? >> No, we have it right here. >> Somebody over there said they had one. >> You guys want me to rotate in on this? Be free to go do. >> Where's the kit? You guys need a kick. >> I don't have a bag. I don't have another mouthpiece. Does anybody else have a mouth? >> Here we go. Here you go. Here you go. Here's a mouthpiece. There's a mouthpiece. >> The most disturbing part is that she did not suffer any injuries at all. Even [music] more painful is the fact that her primary concern was her belongings and her purse, showing no regard whatsoever for the lives she had put at risk. Watching her sit there and blame the other driver for slowing down was truly beyond trashy. It was clear from the jump that her ego was way bigger than [music] any sense of actual remorse. >> Have you had anything to drink today, ma'am? No. >> Okay. On any medication or anything? >> Any what >> medications? >> Nylenol. >> All right. We're going to sit you down right on here. Okay. >> Okay. >> Come around this other side. See where it ends? >> I'm not going to lay down on this. You're not taking me anywhere. >> No. I haven't I haven't smelled anything. >> No. No. >> Okay. >> I I mean I You know what? And I'll tell you what, I got really good insurance. My insurance doesn't >> You want to grab me a driver's license? >> Analyze your heart. >> Please wait. >> Come on. Come on. >> Do not touch the patient. >> She was involved. >> Okay. How's she? >> Okay. So, she's getting some tingling in her arms. She wants to move really bad, but we're stabilizing her. She has pressure right here. So, we cut this right here. >> So, just you got to stay still. Okay. >> She's doing a good job staying still. >> Okay. >> Okay. Thank you. I said we have four patients in serious >> unfortunately that is the last. So >> I don't have an ID right now. >> Right now we're just doing the first day. We'll get to that. If somebody wants to take them to a vet, you're more than welcome and then we can figure that. I can give you my business card. >> U you you specifically have nobody else is coming. It won't. Then the dog isn't going to probably make it, unfortunately. I can't. >> Hey, let's clear the road. Aid's coming. We're doing two two CPRs right over here by that white car. One on the driver's side, one on the passenger side. >> 80. >> Let them handle. >> And then there's one lady. She's over there. Her car's down the ditch. I'm not exactly sure the spot yet, but it's going to be in that area just back down. >> Actually, we're going to move to the journey. Ready? >> In an incredible [music] display of effort, everyone on the highway tried their best to save the victims. Sadly, the Subaru had been hit so hard [music] that both the driver and passenger doors were crushed, causing life-threatening injuries. After 30 minutes [music] of CPR, the driver and passenger, a well-known dentist couple, were pronounced dead at the scene. The Honda Fits occupants, 32-year-old Jenna, an environmental scientist, [music] and 38-year-old Kelly, also suffered life-threatening injuries. EMS [music] decided they needed to be airlifted to the nearest hospital before their conditions worsened. >> Did anybody witness the crash? >> You did? Okay. >> She start She started probably back >> 10 cars. >> Which car? >> She admitted it that it was that car. >> So she come flying by 10 15 cars. >> So she was passing. >> She was passing going Yeah. going west and another car came up and she tried to squeeze in and >> I believe hit this car. >> Which way was that car going? That way. That way. Okay. And then that car. >> I think this is the one that was coming this way. Okay. >> And then Yeah. So she tried to squeeze in and >> it's just the three cars, right? >> Just the three cars. >> So is she in that car? >> She was in that car. We were right behind orange car was right behind that car going against. >> Okay. >> God, I hope the Lord protects me through this. Then the guy was mad because I was passionate. I got to hear somewhere. >> I'll just let you know you are being audio recorded. Okay. >> Well, you should have told me that before. >> Sorry. >> Yeah. Now, now you tell me. >> I don't want to talk to anybody. Let me get a lawyer. >> Okay. I don't know. >> Well, I need your driver's license. >> Then why don't you pull that out and then look there. You look here. I'll look in here. My husband might have it and that'll be that'll suck. I was I was two cars behind this and I looked in my rearview mirror and >> this car had passed >> over here just came through and was passing 12 cars at least. >> Becky, are you all right? >> Yeah. >> Okay, I'm good. >> Uh, we'll see. >> Yeah, I know. I'm not talking to anybody until I get a lawyer because I don't think >> All right. Why don't you have a seat right here in this ambulance? >> No, I don't want to sit down. You know what I mean? You need to find that black guy because he has a phone that like my girlfriend. >> Here's the deal. I'm asking you to sit down there. >> Okay. >> All right. I don't want to have to make you sit down there. Thank you. >> Oh, come on. Make me. >> No, we don't want to do that. Let's have a seat. >> Be nice on your camera. Huh? >> You see where the lady went? >> She's back there with the green water fire guys. >> Okay. See, I want I'm not trying to take your I want to make sure she doesn't run away cuz she's >> she was getting a little spicy with me over here. >> Michelle's driving history [music] spoke volumes about what kind of driver she was. Reports show she had multiple [music] past offenses. Negligent driving in 1995, driving under the influence in 2002 [music] and 2003 with a deferred prosecution program, driving with a suspended license [music] in 2003, reckless driving in 2009 and speeding in 2018. >> I I got really bad chap lips. >> Okay. Well, we if you got some chapstick, that's fine, but nothing to eat or drink right now. >> Okay. >> I don't think I do. Nope, I don't. >> So, medic 35 is on scene. They'll be transporting her. >> Perfect. I guess that's my understanding unless you want to. >> I'll take the water. >> I assume she's detained. >> Just a little bit. >> No, I just >> Nothing to eat or drink. >> Drinking a little bit. I'm drinking a little bit. >> No, I just said nothing to drink. >> You know what? I should have just started walking home. >> Well, you can't right now. You're not able to leave. You're being lawfully detained. Okay. >> Okay. Why am I talking to the um Cuz I saw him. was slowing down and I I went way over I was like on the other side of the road and I caught the end of them or the the side of the back of them. That's all I don't know what happened after that or remember flipping then when we stopped I sure do remember cuz it was I had that seat belt on really tight and then my my chest kind of hurt right there but I think it's just my boot. But no, I have nothing I've had nothing to drink. I haven't smoked any pot. I haven't taken any drugs. >> This may be a V home cuz she was passing the no passing zone. Uh your sergeant is calling detectives right now. >> Okay. >> So, >> um so no statements if they just pulled him out of the car. >> Yep. >> Okay. >> Will you go back there and find her >> and then >> she's an older lady. >> Do you want me to put her in your car? >> No, just just watch her until make sure she doesn't take off. >> That's what the county guy's doing. He's making sure. >> Um where were you headed to before this? >> Before this? I What do you mean? before the the crash happened. >> I was heading to Eden. >> You're headed to Eden Plaw. Okay. >> There was about 50 cars in line here. And I'm not exag I live >> Uh-huh. >> You know, it almost took me >> You said you live in >> I live in So I waited till all the cars passed and waited. >> Uhhuh. >> And then here comes some more cars, you know. And then so I stopped and wait. I'm going, "Okay, I don't care." Despite knowing that two of the victims had died in the crash she [music] caused, she continued to blame them for what happened. Her record combined with her behavior painted a clear picture of a dangerous and irresponsible driver who repeatedly [music] ignored the rules of the road. >> I'm going the next break, but there's a corner and then my my driveway. And so and if you if you go if you're doing 35 and you go over for that, this guy was flying, man. I had to speed up and and oh, so pissed. Then I got up and I was about I think it's four or five. I don't know if remember but I know I know they were doing 40 miles an hour all the way up this mountain. I mean all the way down and I was on like a time thing. I had to get down to Ham. So I went 55 but passed on. >> So you're passing the cars that were in line. >> I know. You know what? I don't want to talk to anybody who's got a way. >> Just so you know, you're not free to leave. Just that. Just that you're aware. You're detained right now. Yeah. >> It's the same thing I told you. Well, >> just giving us or anything to eat. >> Like I said, you can't like I said, you can't have anything to eat or drink >> because >> I got water in my car. >> Unfortunately, right now you can't have it. >> She good to go. >> She's not complaining of anything. >> Okay. Uh let's >> Do you want me to >> bring her back? >> That way we can keep an eye on her. We don't have to put her in her car yet. >> She's going to walk away. >> Okay. She's a place. She's a >> No, he's going to watch them for us. >> Oh, you're going to watch her thing. >> The accident [music] did not just harm the humans involved. It also severely injured three dogs. Two belonging to Kim [music] and Bet and one rescued from Jenna's car. All three dogs suffered serious injuries and were rushed to the nearest emergency veterinary clinic by caring bystanders. At the same time, the most urgent priority was helping Jenna and Kelly, who were unable to move due to their critical injuries. Emergency responders worked quickly to stabilize them before transporting them to the nearest hospital, [music] hoping to save their lives. The scene was chaotic and heartbreaking. >> Where you guys uh land a little bit more at the park or at the mountain or I'm not exactly sure what they're doing. I know cuz we have a trooper waiting down there at 410 in that one. Landed in that intersection or if you need to go further down. >> I'm not exactly sure but they have LZ set it up. First bird already landed. So >> um they should be >> okay. I don't know the protocol here. I haven't done a whole lot with Airflight. Can I drive around it to the scene or >> do I need to wait till it's done? I'm It's I'm here for that. >> Drop the second one coming in. >> Gotcha. We got two units coming down with transport. Once they get on the ground, >> you'll need to check probably with >> check with a pilot and see if they'll let you go. >> Yep. >> I understand you don't want to go to the hospital. >> No, I don't. >> But >> I want to be I don't want that big bill. >> I know. I know. >> And and my insurance cuz I've gone to hospital many times. You know that. >> Can you hear me though? >> It's $1,000. enough. But right now, you probably have a lot of adrenaline going because of what happened. And that kind of masks some of the pains that you have. >> Okay? So, we want to make sure that just because that adrenaline is going that you're not >> hurt anywhere. Adrenaline. Okay. >> But here's what I'm saying. >> Okay. >> If your friend comes down here, >> can you have them too? >> Yeah. because I understand you don't want to pay for that. >> I have really good health insurance. I'll probably pay 25 bucks to go in there and have >> Okay. >> That is most important is to get checked out. >> Hey boss, I'm not wanting to mess with your protocol, but I'm wanting to ask a question. >> Um, can I drive around you to get to the scene? >> Yeah. I just I just want to verify. >> All right. I'll probably go behind you. I'm going to drive around him. >> Okay. >> So, we got statements from the witnesses. >> Gathering even the smallest details of the case and [music] transporting the injured to hospitals was a challenging process. The officers deserve full credit during this exhausting phase. The way they kept everyone together and handled each aspect calmly [music] is not something everyone can manage. You be wanting them to stick around or should they go? >> Uh, I would have them stick around for a second here just because I'm I'm right here. I'm at the helicopters. >> Okay. Okay. Sounds good. >> All right. I'll be there shortly. Bye. >> Yeah. Bye. >> Hey, Mickey. >> Yeah. >> Can you come here and talk to us for a sec? >> Yeah. >> Here. Okay. Good. No problem. >> All right. You want to turn around? Put your hands behind your back. >> Oh my god. You're under arrest for vehicle or homicide. >> Maybe you should call. >> Tell him to call a lawyer. >> Thank you, Jim. >> What about the guy that was in front of me that slowed way down? >> I'm going to read you your rights real quick. Okay. You have the right to remain silent. You have the right at this time to an attorney. You can exercise these rights at any time. Do you understand these rights? >> Yep. I'm not talking to anybody. >> Let's go back this way. >> Hey, wait. You better bring my my We'll get all your stuff. >> Don't give me my flag. >> Hey, Carolyn. >> What's your name? >> Trooper. >> What's your first name? >> Trooper. >> No, it's not. >> Yeah, it is. You're >> lying. Am I Are you recording this? You're lying to me. How am I supposed to trust these people >> eventually? [music] What needed to happen did happen. The woman was taken into custody and she fully deserved it. [music] Her constant storytelling was a major red flag. Even after being handcuffed, her concern remained focused on her purse as if the officers were there to protect her belongings rather than enforce the law. >> You're hurting my parents bad. I'm not going to have to escape. >> There's plenty of space in here. >> The race are so small that they turn. We can't do anything about that. Hey, sorry. She's saying the handcuffs hurt. Just to let you know, >> I'm not going anywhere. >> I I understand that. >> But her wrists are so small they just turn in your cuffs. >> There you go. >> No, I No, I It hurts. Look at Look at how I need on the top. >> Turn them. >> Don't turn them. And if you do this and you push up, it's going to take the pressure off them. Does that make sense? And then just rotate in between your hands cuz you twisted it and got it. >> I didn't twist it. I was just trying to get cuz you took it to cut into my off of my hand. Well, I'm not going to argue with you. >> I'm not arguing with you either. >> Why can't these guys have plastic ones or some really heavy duty plastic ones? >> Unfortunately, nobody's complying. >> And people break them. We'll break them. >> There you go. >> You're very welcome. >> Sergeant, let's go back here. >> Oh, we don't need ma'am. Nope. Let's go. >> Thank you for your for caring about me. >> All right, we're going to stand in front of this car. >> Okay, I need Hey, >> do you have any weapons on you that's going to cut me? Stick me poke me. >> Okay, go ahead and spread your feet for me. >> All right, >> I need to get a hold of that one guy. Oh, wait. You're taking me in cuz I need a ride. >> All right. Well, hold on one second. I'm going to reach in and grab the seat belt. Look. >> Can you undo these and put them in front? I'm not going to do anything. >> We can't do that. It's against policy. >> I'm not going to go anywhere. >> It's against policy, ma'am. We can't. Okay. You want to have a seat? I said we have one. >> Oh god, that hurts. >> Traffic. >> Okay, I'll show you. I'll show you. I'll make sure that Wait, that cop has my vape. >> Ma'am, what's up? >> That one cop that was at the back of the uh >> The situation had [music] been out of control from the very beginning. Yet, there were no signs of remorse on her face. [music] She continued questioning officers in a strange manner, repeatedly asking for their names as if it were some secret code or a tactic that could somehow cost them their jobs. >> Of the um buyer, you know, truck, he took my vape and he said he give it to me when I got out. I I want it back. >> I can put it in your purse. >> Okay, that's fine. Man, I just saw him give them water. Can I please stand outside? >> No. >> Oh lord. This is ridicul. This is bad. I'm gonna I'm telling my lawyer this. >> You're not so bad. Thank you. >> What's that? >> I said you're not so bad. >> Thank you. >> Thank you. >> Mm- >> I'm trying to go slow. Say don't. >> Don't go slow. I can drink. >> Okay. >> One more. Okay. >> Okay. >> Mhm. >> Sorry. Sorry. >> No, you you don't go. I didn't get hardly any. >> Oh, >> look at how much you've given me. Look, >> you made noise like you were talking. >> That was a good one. Can you do me a favor, though? Can you put some water on on my on my tank top down there and just wipe my mouth off? Oh, yeah. Pour some water on me. That would be so good. Please. Please do that. >> Just on your front. >> Yeah. >> Okay. It's going to go down. Make it look like it peed. >> Hopefully not. >> Can you Can you then take take the wet part and just wipe my mouth over over my mouth? >> I've got diabetes and and I get really bad chap lips. >> I was passing cars cuz there was like 50 seemed like 50 cars and stuff, you know, like three or two at a time, you know. >> And then and I I would go 55 up to the a place where I could pull over, turn my signal on, pull in just like you're supposed to. And then and then when it was clear again, which it was, I went in and I did it again. And that time I got like four cars. And then and then I looked again. There was nobody coming. So I went and I went past three cars. And I pulled in. And >> suddenly, [music] the woman who didn't care about crushed bodies was deeply concerned about her tiny wrists hurting in the handcuffs. She spent more time complaining about the metal touching her skin [music] than she did about the lives she just ended. It was a classic manipulation tactic, trying to garner sympathy from the very people who just watched her destroy a family. And there was plenty of room. Turn my turn my uh signal on and I pulled into the um space slowed down and pulled in the space and the guy in front of me it was like he I don't know like he stepped on his brakes or he's >> but he but he he he hit me. You know what I mean? No, really he did. >> If you look at cuz when he was when he was coming towards me cuz I'm watching him come closer and closer to me. I'm going, "Oh my god." So, I went to get out into the bushes, you know, I didn't want to get into an accident and stuff. And, uh, sure enough, my front my my front bumper hit his back bumper. >> Mhm. >> And then >> I don't remember anything at I don't remember anything after that. >> You're definitely lucky your car is upside down. So, I'm glad you're not hurt or anything. >> I'm fine. >> That's good. You want more water? >> Yeah, please. Okay, here we go. Okay. Now, you got to squeeze it at top cuz it's almost gone. But I want >> It's really hot. >> Okay. Go put it um like on top of my lips, you know, on my skin. >> Uhhuh. >> A lot. I want a lot of it cuz I'm >> Okay. >> There you go. And then then more on this side. >> Okay. >> Can you see the Can you see the the scar tissue that's coming out? It >> There you go. See? >> Yeah. Watch this. >> Much better. >> Thank you. It seemed like causing the deaths of two people didn't bother her at all. She kept laughing and joking while speaking to the female officer, showing no real remorse for what had happened. Shockingly, she even suggested that she should be sent to a less harsh jail, as if her actions and the tragedy [music] she caused were no big deal. Her behavior was completely cold and detached. >> How many years do you get for this? >> What's that? >> What's the average years for this? I don't have the answer to that for you. >> I need to go to a lesser hard jail. I'm not going to make it in there. They're going to beat me up and stuff. The people that passed away, did they have a medical condition? It was like honestly like he took his foot off the his gas pedal just came right back at me. So, I'm thinking maybe he I don't know. Maybe he I I maybe he's mad I passed or maybe he was How did something happened to him? I don't know. Wow. I can't believe this is happening to me. We going to go pretty soon cuz I got to go to the bathroom. >> Yeah. >> And I need to I need to eat. I haven't eaten since like 6:00 this morning and I got diabetes. Dad passed away about a year ago and my mom a year before that. And my grandma died. I have no family except for my husband. He's going to be so pissed. Oh yeah. and put my foot out the window. Okay. >> Oh. Oh, that's gonna cool me down. Hey, you can't take my um handcuffs off, huh? >> I'll take them off. >> Okay. Thank you so much. I won't be able to wipe Oh. Ow. I'm starting to really get sore. I'm glad we're going to the hospital. >> Yeah. >> Thank you so much. >> You're welcome. >> Oh, man. It's going to feel so good cuz they hurt. I know what I did to deserve this to happen, but I mean I Ow. I'm such a good girl. I make myself sick. I'm so good. You think they'll let me out on an arraignment or not? >> I'm not sure. >> I didn't commit a crime. I I tried to miss him. I caused it just as much as he did because he came right back at me once I pulled in there. I turned my turn signal off and here he comes like he's it's almost like he's in reverse coming at me and I go, "Oh my god." And so I turned really hard and tried to go, you know, gave it a little bit of gas and tried to get into the, you know, on the outside and I hit the corner of his thing. I know I did. I remember that. So it's my fault. >> At the hospital, [music] Jenna was diagnosed with a broken arm while Kelly suffered severe spinal fractures. Both also had serious internal injuries. Kim and Bet had endured multiple lacerations, broken ribs, a broken neck, and fatal internal injuries from the massive impact on both sides of their car during the collision. The force was so severe that it ended their lives instantly, cutting short the lives of a couple who had dedicated [music] themselves to helping their community. The crash left a trail of physical devastation and heartbreaking loss. >> He treated patients like family, like friends. [music] Um, and he would go out of his way to make sure that they felt comfortable, that they knew what was going on, um, that they understood the treatment options. Sometimes you could hardly tell [music] that he was treating you because he was so light and careful and soft. And we would travel to Guatemala to treat underserved populations. [music] Um, and I would get to sit chairside with my dad for 8 hours a day, um, helping Guatemalans who could never afford the dentistry that they needed to [music] to save their teeth. missions takes a lot out of you when you go on these trips. Most likely you'll get sick. You're traveling a lot. You're paying out of pocket. Um, and you're working long hours because [music] what happens is people find out that you're doing free and care and they they line up and it's the line is 500 people long and you don't want to turn people away. So, you're working 11 [music] or 12 hour days. >> My dad taught me uh service as a love language. He also taught me um the strength of the community around you [music] and how to to leverage your friendships and your relationships to make everyone's life better. >> Kim was postumously honored as citizen of the year by the Washington State [music] Dental Association for his decades of selfless service to the community. [music] His dedication to helping others left a lasting impact on everyone around him. He is survived by his four [music] children who remember him not only as a father but also as a role model of [music] generosity and care. Michelle was charged with two counts of vehicular homicide and two counts of vehicular assault. Her bail was first set at $100,000, but was later raised to $500,000, and she bonded out the next day. She pleaded not guilty at her arraignment, but her [music] defense later requested a mental health evaluation. She was diagnosed with an unspecified depressive disorder, [music] but was found competent to stand trial and move to electronic home monitoring. In July 2025, she was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. She died 5 months later in the hospital and the court dismissed the case.
