right so right now you're going to be placed under arrest okay just put your hands behind your back on March 1st 2024 a traffic incident involving reckless driving required officer intervention the situation began when a call was placed to the authorities reporting a disturbing crash prompting an immediate response down back that way so so what happened you were at the Right Aid light going which way we were coming down this way okay I'm not sure what street we at but we were making a left they were stopped we're coming and then we trying all right so you were on Gloucester then left the light and then that first left cancer I don't know name is where they the first left after the light where they were stopped and as we're making our turn next Su okay so you were trying to make that first left onto sh that's sh uh small Street yeah okay so you were trying were you in the process of turning yes okay and then was that car at the stop then yes okay so were they going they were making a left they accelerated into us to back got caught mid turn B we tried to point them into the lot that's right there right at the corner and they just gotcha okay so your damage is perfect were you driving yeah uh you have your license in yes perfect and the insurance information please Hi how are you I'm right good what's going on so what my side is I do have somebody that run they do have a warrant and they turn restart I'm sorry I there I have a witness to what actually happened too and they turned like I was already in the process of making the left when I turned onto the street and they turned hard into me that I have somebody that runs so I am only by myself right now that's all I can give you but I do have everything that actually I give it to the first officer so I do have my insurance I have everything and I did stop because I knew I had to but that person did have to run and I'm not going to lie like which person ran you say someone was in your car yeah that's what they said too so I'm pretty sure like I'm not going to lie about it so okay so someone was in your car you hit this car and they told you to leave and you no they I feel like it was like uh a joint accident because they I was already turning when they when this happened so when the accident happened person in your passeng they pulled over to like come down the LAN patic and I was already turning when they said that okay and thees upon arrival at the scene the officer first encountered the individual who had called for help the officer began by gathering preliminary information from individuals before moving on to investigate the other party a female driver who had been driving recklessly as reported in the call as the officer approached the female driver to begin an investigation they observed signs that the driver might be impaired down there I did over so the person in your passenger seat said leave and you did truthfully yes okay but I stopped here because I know I have to and I'm not going to keep running cuz I'm not where's the person that was in your passive seat where do they live at I don't even know honestly you know yeah I really you don't know their name I do know their name but I like that's something that I like I just kind of went to the ski in accident right now like I'm not going to blame them I'm not going to blame anybody I'm not say this is actually what happened in the accident is that they were they were turning too hard on me and it'll end up being okay well what happens is I take your side of story I take their side of story I put it on a report and it has nothing to I understand but I'm trying to tell you the truth I'll time so they did they left they left me here to deal this by myself so I stopped here because I'm not going to keep running and or doing things stupid okay like but the person in your passenger seat I need to make sure they're okay hey I don't know where they went and I don't even know act like they somewhere like I actually just met them again I don't even feel comfortable giving you their phone number because they do have a warrant that's why I actually is not that big of a deal it's not cuz it's in another place okay but I'm just telling you that like I don't have any problems and I'm not going to keep I'm not going to take somebody other's [ __ ] for me like if that actually makes sense no okay it doesn't no what do you mean take someone else he's sitting here and he has a warrant and then he gets arrested he didn't want to take my he didn't want to have a was he driving or were you absolutely perfect where were you headed to now like after after this happen actually going to he works at RBS off one of the first things the officer noted was a change in her eyes that off indicates intoxication such as glassy appearance these signs raised the suspicion that the woman might have been under the influence of alcohol or another substance while operating her vehicle however despite the visible signs of impairment the woman was not forthcoming about her condition she adamantly refused to admit to being intoxicated or impaired which complicated the officer's task and then I was going to go home cuz bar is right there by the turnp overhead no drinks not one okay so what's going to happen is I'm just going to uh check your eyes for for for you all right cuz I can smell it stand next to you while you're talking okay all right uh you know if you didn't have any drinks you didn't have any drinks you wouldn't to smell like alcohol okay okay all right is that why you might additional identifying information from her this included details like her driver's license and vehicle information which are standard during traffic stops and investigations of crashes despite her reluctance to admit any wrongdoing the officer continued to engage with her calmly and methodically knowing that Gathering as much information as possible would help in concluding the situation there being somebody else in the car and running from it after the accident I get it too so you're responsible for the vehicle at all times as a driver are you the registered owner of the car yes I am and I do have everything but like I said like I don't have a dash can I don't think they did either but they made a short like they we like they understand I'm not worried about the crash we're good and they have claims adjusters what they're going to do is that person's insurance company your insurance company they're going to have a phone conference and they'll go back and forth and New Jersey is a new fault state so they're going to sit there and they're going to bicker back and forth as to percentages of fault based on your statements to them based on their statements to them and based on what the police report says and then they'll come to an agreement saying well my client's this percentage at fault my client's this percentage at fault nobody's ever 100% unfortunately New Jersey is just weird that way the officer informed her that she would need to perform a series of sobriety tests to assess her condition initially the female driver agreed to these tests which indicated that she was willing to cooperate to some extent even if she continued to deny being under the influence the officer began with a horizontal gaze nagus hgn test which involves asking the subject to follow the tip of a finger or another object with their eyes of money in a lot of cars and other so it's it's not that big of a deal all right but what I do need to ask you is um do you have any medical issues or anything like that no I don't now you're not hurt in any way no no okay um do you have any ailments with your legs balancing issues anything with your ears or any of that type of stuff no I'm like a little stressed out but I'm okay that's completely understand but you can just the reason I'm asking you those questions is because I smell a little bit of alcohol an alcoholic beverage gathered enough evidence from the tests to reasonably conclude that the woman was borderline intoxicated even though she had been Cooperative throughout the process and had not been violent or aggressive the results of the field sobriety tests combined with the observations made at the scene strongly suggested that she was driving Under the Influence stopped smoking pot not so long ago so I don't you mean like today or like in general it was actually been like probably like I'm not going to lie probably two years ago okay so I've been a rehab program for that and like I just don't want you guys like I am in a really good program right now where I go to actually na okay okay well that's good for you so that feels like I feel like that's me if I say that because the other like if so like I go uhhuh if I'm going to release my truest details okay I don't want that ruining anything CU I like it's actually probably going to make bigger problems for me cuz like I'm respected like where I'm supposed to be from and not whatever so you're fine with us and none of this gets out to anybody unless you tell them right I might have something this CU I probably know but I I would rather but that's that's your choice yeah i' rather we are not going to call anybody and say hey we had a list today and this is what happened we can't do that people might even see me cuz I know a back my car we're going to secure it take care of and um there needs to be uh what's called a DUI hold on it okay is impounded can I call somebody no we we have to impound it so this is what I can tell you though okay if after if after this other test we put you through okay all right there's the possibility that you can go get your car afterwards possibility okay but there's also the possibility it has to stay in impound for 12 hours those are the two options I can't give you an answer until we put you through that last test all right okay so we're going to come over here to this since driving Under the Influence is a serious offense and the woman had been driving the officer made the decision to arrest her the woman was informed of her rights and the officer placed her under arrest for driving Under the Influence she was handcuffed and placed in the patrol vehicle before being transported to the police station for further investigation yeah know yeah all right oh it's on under the influence the evidence including the failed sobriety tests and the officer's observations was presented to support the charges the legal process determined the appropriate consequences based
