of Tennessee on the night of June 18 2022 Tennessee Secretary of State Gus Trey Hargett spent his day at the Bonnaroo Music Festival in Manchester Tennessee despite consuming alcohol while in attendance he drove approximately 15 miles to a bar where he claimed to not have stayed very long after pulling out of the bar Tullahoma police officers noticed him driving erratically and swerving all over the road they followed him back to his residence for the night where they turned on their Sirens to see why he couldn't keep control of his vehicle just step back here me boy step back here phone out in the Coffee County jail here in just a little bit um whenever he gets there I think I I mean I'm I'm not here to tell you what you I just I think he's really nervous I mean I I know you did your check and all your years you do double jeans but I think you just you got it more nervous than anything I understand um but he the tests that were performed in performance and standards so like I said what do I need to do um whenever he gets to the jail you know I'm sure the let him get some numbers off his phone help they were contacts from there and then and post spawned if you want or or I can't yeah I'm from Texas I can't drive his car until uh what do I do uh probably just targeting contact with his family or something I'm sure you know somebody all right he'll get one phone second door on the right yes okay so you have a seat right here in one of these chairs yes oh man it's in the car yes sir um so now at this point if I'm gonna ask me like it starts taking anything or that's what I got here it's Tennessee blood or breath consent advisement um so I'm going to read this to you verbatim and then afterwards it you know you have a right to consent or refuse right all right are you willing to consent to provide a blood or breast sample of Chemical Testing if you refuse to supply a sample for blood of the indoor breath testing no tests will be conducted unless required by law or authorized by search warrant or exigent circumstances if you do not consent the law permits me to apply for a search warrant for a blood or breath sample for Chemical Testing you any consent to this or you want to refuse it like a phone call uh no sir no until you get to the jail I'll take the test okay let me go is filled out and then and so what are you doing sorry no sir which one are you doing good so what's our next step please so when I fill this out then we're gonna head out to Manchester United Unity Hospital where they're gonna they're gonna get blood sample from you and then um from there you'll be taken to the Coffee County jail and booked in on driving Under the Influence right hey what small turn to the shark what do you mean your alternative if I don't draw blood if you don't consent to this um at that point I wouldn't I would need a search warrant uh and get it certified by the commissioner and then we would take you and have your bullet drone anyway I really like to college has to help control sir okay you can do that when you get to the jail if they'll accept the phone call from the jail phone the German tag yes sir yes you don't let me asking what did you do for work I'm the secretary of state of Tennessee how old are you Mr Hargett if it's raining that's right I just have to be honest I'm very nervous I apologize I we're sending you consent and if I don't I mean we're gonna search warrant with the commissioner and get it anyway stand open and come through these doors right here the Tennessee secretary of state was booked into the Coffee County jail on one count of misdemeanor DUI charge according to booking records he was released several hours later after posting a two thousand dollar Bond his blood alcohol level taken by blood draw turned out to be .137 nearly twice the legal limit court documents show that he crossed a yellow dividing line four times between the bar and his residence and at one point was going 40 miles per hour and quickly slammed on the brakes his attorney claims he paid a 350 dollar fine served 48 Hours of jail time and attended DUI School he was also required to install an ignition interlock device on his personal vehicle for a period of one year to ensure he does not drive under the influence again he's not allowed to drive a state provided vehicle again for one year Mr Hargett has been Tennessee's Secretary of State since 2009 and continues to be in office following his DUI do you believe secretary Hargett should continue to hold this office or is that for
