On April 5th, 2024, officers stopped to do a routine welfare check on a stranded driver. Sounds simple, right? Nah. What should have been a quick let's help someone out moment turned into a full-blown drama complete with existential crises, gas shortages, and the most theatrical back and forth you've ever seen on a roadside. >> Uh, do you have somebody that can come and help you? >> Um, yeah. I was I'm working on it. >> Okay. Where you come? I said let you know that everything's being a video recorded. Where you coming? Where you headed to? Get 552. I'm code for, but we'll take a second. >> I was headed to Toro. >> Okay. Do you live in Toronto? >> No. >> Okay. Where you headed to in Toronto? >> The school. >> Uh, high school, junior high, which one? You're head Well, you're headed to the school in Toronto. >> What's the matter? Are you going to help me or? >> Yeah, I'm trying to figure out what's going on. >> Yeah, I'm headed I All right, I'm stranded. I ran out of gas. I'm headed to Toronto. >> Okay, but >> are you able to help me or not? >> But where where I need to know where you're going so I can arrange to get you there. Where are you headed to? I'm not headed there anymore because I'm late. >> Okay. Where are you late to? >> Where the you thing, bro? >> I don't know. That's why I'm asking you. I need to get you to where you need to be. How late are you? >> I'm on another level of just upset. I cannot do this right now. I'm sorry. I can't I >> You can't do what? >> It can't be questioned right now. Just give me a second, please. I was on my way to Unity West. >> Okay. >> Sorry. >> That's fine. >> I've called them multiple times. They tried to release my daughter um to her father who has no um c custodial rights at this point like >> Okay. So, >> like today. >> So, you need to get to your you need to get to >> Yeah. I was running late. I woke up late. Not only that, but I also also what? So, you coming from your house now or? >> Yeah, I mean, I went over I mean I'm I'm not going to lie. I went about 100 all the way here trying to get here and I ran out of gas right here and it was just like the car literally and then >> okay >> I had to her she's been picked up everything >> so she's not she's not at school >> is that old damage over there >> I was looking at that is that old damage over there >> what are you doing >> I was making sure that was old damage There's >> these days, people think they can fix a traffic violation with a simple sorry, which is straight up unrealistic because the law doesn't run on apologies or emotional vibes. Instead of facing the situation, the woman flexed her emotions to score sympathy, but that just tangled the whole situation deeper. >> The windshield, too. Yeah, I'm sure. >> Uh, >> it's from the inside, like >> Yeah, that's what I was just making sure of. Do you have your driver's license with you? You sure of what? >> I was making sure it was a little damaged. >> Can I see your driver's license so I can make sure you have a valid driver's license? >> It's valid. >> Okay. Well, I need to see it. >> You can run the plates. And then >> the plates have nothing to do with your driver's license. I need to see your driver's license and insurance card, please. >> You don't? >> Yeah, I do. >> For what? >> To make sure you >> I thought you to help me. >> Okay. >> Yep. >> Yeah. Can I see your driver's license, please? >> You can. >> Okay. Well, I I I do need to see it. Okay. >> For what? >> To make sure that you're valid. >> I'm valid. >> Then I need to see your driver's license. >> I need help. And now you're you're questioning whether or not I'm valid. >> Yes. I need to see your driver's license. >> I thought you weren't here to help me, bro. Like, I thought you were here. No. >> What are you going to do? If it comes down to it, >> 551, I'll need you to >> What? >> Yeah, I need to see your driver's license. >> For what? >> I need to see your driver. >> For what? I THOUGHT YOU WERE HERE TO HELP ME. I THOUGHT YOU WERE HERE TO GET SOME GAS IN MY CAR. I'm not going to get you gas if I don't know you have a valid driver's license or not. >> I just told you it's valid, though. >> I'm not going to take your word for that. Oh, so I'm supposed to just take your word. You're here to help me drive. You're supposed to just take your word that you're here TO HELP ME. >> Let's take each other's words, bro. My life is valid. It's valid. And you're here to help me. >> Yes. >> Huh? Yes. Okay. So, what >> what are you upset about? >> I'm upset. WHAT DO YOU WHAT THE do you think I'm upset? I'm upset >> that you're out of gas. WHY DO YOU CARE? You don't even care. You're just going to record me and embarrass me. >> I've got someone here to help me. >> You're not leaving. You're not leaving. >> I don't think anyone >> You're not leaving. >> You're not leaving. >> Oh, I'm not leaving. Oh. Oh. Since when? Because I'm keeping you here for now until I figure out who you are >> and all that stuff. It's not going to work. What's your last name? >> Oh, you're not pissed off yet? No. Yeah. >> What's your last name? >> Is that why you still want to get my ID right now? >> Yes. I need your driver to help me. I thought you were here. >> I need to see your driver. >> Not Why do you need my name if you're here to [ __ ] make sure that you're valid? >> Molly. Molly. Spell with an M. Not an H. Oh, I took your pen. >> What's wild is that as the investigation rolled on, the mess kept getting worse. The woman didn't care about anything. All she wanted was to throw blame at the officers. Protecting her own embarrassment mattered more than cooperating. If she had taken responsibility in a chill way, things could have stayed simple. But she made the whole thing way messier. >> Problem? >> That's what I don't understand what you're getting upset at me for. You're out of gas, but you're getting upset at me for what you want. >> I don't want to get you sick. >> Well, I'm going to give you a minute. Just relax. I'll come back up. We'll figure this out. Okay. It's not that difficult. All right. >> All right. So, the car the car comes back to a male. So, I can that by running the plates. That's not >> H. Yeah, that's my man. >> Okay. But I need to know what your name is >> for what? To help me get some gas to get me home. I live in Paxton. >> Um >> Okay. So, you live in >> checking going to see if my gas can >> So, you're coming from Paxton? >> Yeah. What? >> Okay. From your from your house in Paxton. >> I was community. >> Is that what you told me? >> My daughter goes to school. Yeah. It sounds ridiculous. So, why would I even try to [ __ ] to you? >> Why would I even try to explain it to you? Yeah, that's right. >> Why would I even check? >> Do you have You're looking for your gas can. >> All the gas can ar anyway you need to care. >> So roll your window down for me. >> Roll your window down. >> I do what? >> The whole thing works. >> Okay. >> Hopefully if some what? Okay. What? >> No, I'm listening to you. >> I said hopefully someone, you know, driving by stupid drunk. >> How much? >> Come by and hit me cuz I'm done. I tried to just >> You're out of gas. That's not that big of a deal. >> It is clearly cuz you need my name and my NUMBER AND MY ADDRESS AND ALL THIS OTHER [ __ ] AND I'M UPSET as it is. So, I'm going to look crazy or drunk and my baby daddy going to use that against me. That's probably him right now. [ __ ] I hate this. I hate this town. I don't I literally want to be in and out. >> Okay, I understand that. >> Get my girl and go. No, you don't. If you did, you would get [ __ ] gas. Oh my god. >> I don't have any gas with me. But >> you can't leave until I find out who you are. >> I just told you. >> No, you didn't. You said Molly. >> Yeah, >> that's all you told me. >> How many other Mollies are from Toono? >> I thought you lived in Paxton. >> YEAH, RIGHT NOW, [ __ ] THE [ __ ] >> WHAT'S YOUR LAST NAME? >> I live in Paxton RIGHT NOW. I AIN'T GOING TO [ __ ] >> What's your last name? Molly >> where I'm from. >> Molly, what's your last name? >> By now, tension hit its peak. The driver's stress on one side and her anger on the other kept making the scene chaotic. Her defensive responses to every question made zero sense. She was dead set on twisting the whole traffic stop to her favor, refusing to see reality. >> It's a last name town, so what's it matter? >> What's your last name? You got your buddy pulling up now? >> Yeah, I do. >> What? Leave me alone. >> Step out for me. >> Just let me wait for help. >> Step out for me. >> Waiting for gas. >> Step out for me for someone to get. You need to step out of the car. >> For what? >> Right now. >> For what? >> So I can find out who you are. >> I can just give you my ID. >> Oh well, now we can do that. Okay. >> Oh, yeah. I don't need to step out. Yeah. Oh, you mad? >> Uh, let me see your ID. >> Okay. I'm going to reach for you going to get mad. You going to tase me and shoot me? >> No. Let me see your ID. >> Oh, it's cuz I'm white, right? >> For what? >> Let me see your driver's license cuz you're required to show it to me. >> For what? Like what are you even doing here? >> Let me see your driver's license. >> Who is this guy? Are you going to announce yourself or anything like that? Oh, >> he's my partner. Let me see your driver's license. >> I don't want people to loan out to see you the >> us arguing out here at roadside isn't helping matters. Danny, >> uh, you didn't need to behind me. That didn't help matters. >> You're in the road. Let me see your driver's license. >> For what? >> Let me see it. Keep it open for right now. >> What? >> Cuz I said so. Keep it open. >> I want to shut it for my safety and my privacy. You're male and you're male. I'm a woman. Get the door. >> YOU'RE GOING TO GO IN. >> I can't imagine a threat. I CAN'T IMAGINE A THREAT. WHY someone out? >> Stop. >> Help out. Help out. >> Stop. I didn't do it. Molly, step out. Molly, COME ON. >> OH, NOW YOU NO. STOP. >> MOLLY, this is ridiculous. >> Stop. Yeah, it is. Let me close my door. STOP. STOP. The police brutality. Let me CLOSE MY DOOR. HELP ME. HELP ME. HELP ME. YEAH. YOU LOOK AROUND. LOOK AROUND FOR WITNESSES, RIGHT? HELP ME. Help me. Help. Let me shut my door. If you want ME TO CALM DOWN, LET ME SHUT MY DOOR. OH, YEAH. That's That's unnecessary reaction. >> Really? >> Yep. >> Really? >> Wow. OH WOW, YOU GUYS ARE [ __ ] ON MY LIFE. That's what you >> She kept spinning the scene into chaos. Her growing resistance made zero sense and her stubborn attitude blew the situation up. Her non-stop arguing and refusal to comply made a mess that could have been avoided if she just laid it straight. >> You're not here to help me, I guess. >> Not when you're going to act like this. >> What do you mean? What do you mean? What do you mean? What do you mean? >> You're going to >> What do you mean? >> All right. What you're going to do? >> What do you mean? What am I going to do? >> You're going to stand up for me. >> Oh, yeah. Am I ready? >> No. >> No. >> Here we go. >> 1 2 3. >> Molly. Come on. >> No. No. How dare you? >> We're just going to drag you then. >> There you go. All right. Come on now. Walk around back here for us. >> Come on. >> What? For what? Why did you just need me? Why did you detain me? >> WHY DID YOU DETAIN ME? THEY didn't even TELL ME WHY THEY DETAINED ME. HELP ME. >> HELP ME. Please help me. >> Help me. Please help me. Please help me. >> All right, we're going to stand up and hop in the car. Ready? >> Here we go. Three, two, one. >> Please help me. I DIDN'T EVEN make the hole. I wasn't even >> Don't do that. I want to see. >> Don't do what? >> NO. STOP. I GAVE YOU everything you wanted. >> Stop. STOP. WHAT? OW. >> A ROUTINE WELFARE check ended up being a masterclass in overreaction. She was too combative to cooperate, too hysterical to explain, and far too unhinged to be trusted with a child or a car. Officers handled every ridiculous outburst with professionalism, proving that patience, protocol, and restraint are far stronger than theatrics, entitlement, or pure chaos. The woman was charged with aggravated battery, a DUI, resisting arrest, and obstructing identification.
