On September 10th, 2023, bike patrol officers outside an Athens nightclub dealt with a classic case of liquid courage gone wrong when a drunk woman turned a simple move to the sidewalk into a swinging, screaming spectacle. The suspect was charged with obstruction of an officer, public intoxication, and possession of an open container. She entered into a guilty plea for all three charges. Her bond was set to $78. At sentencing, the court ordered her to 8 days of confinement along with a $490 court fine and $50 in court costs in addition to other standard court order conditions.
