[Music] while the names listed on the memorial behind me are not necessarily all law enforcement they have one thing in common they are filled with passion purpose and public service during their time here a life of public service is not always easy it also could be very rewarding to those of us who chose a life to serve others we often look at our colleagues a little bit different the type of work or the calls that we go on together the way we have to depend on one another and Trust on one another is like no other profession that is why I would say were more like family than we are colleagues and that is why the city created a permanent Memorial to recognize those who we lost who have contributed so much to us personally and to the community inscribed on these walls are the names of individuals who face danger head-on knowing the risks yet never wavering in their commitment to protect and serve as we reflect on the lives lost let us also honor the families Left Behind whose love and support sustained them through their Calling May this Memorial stand not only as a symbol of remembrance but also as a Beacon of Hope inspiring future generations to answer the Call of Duty with the same bravery and resolve as those we honor today whether sworn or civilian all names that are etched on the memorial behind me had such an impact on this community on their colleagues and their families
