that good of a friend. >> But we're Snapchat friends. We're like best friends on Snapchat. I Snapchat him every single day. Sir, >> figure that out. >> Can we at least contact someone? >> Yeah. Oh, yeah. We're calling DCF. [music] >> Why am I being arrested, though? >> Please don't take my kids to DCF. Please. >> I'm going to call and ask. Just watch. Watch your leg. Okay. >> Please don't take them to >> Imagine being so obsessed with your late night ATV hobby that you [music] leave three small children, including a severely autistic six-year-old, home alone. That's exactly what happened on the night [music] of June 14th, 2024 when a neighbor woke up to the sound of a terrified child pounding on their door. The mother thought she could [music] sneak away for a few hours of fun, assuming her kids would just stay asleep. Instead, she returned to a yard full of police officers [music] and a neighborhood that had officially seen enough of her questionable parenting choices. It was a complete disaster from start to finish. >> I'm just the neighbor. The mom lives next door. And >> she lives here, right, with the boyfriend? know lives next door. >> Okay, we're still >> in live there. And um we were woken up cuz my husband heard this like loud noise or whatever and he's only been over here a couple times like visiting or whatever and he calls me grandma. I don't know why but that's like him over here. I called mom and she's on the way but >> his mom >> his mom >> is on the way here. >> Yes. From where? >> She lives next door. >> Okay. >> And I called her and I was like her name's and I said youry's over here next door. Yeah. >> And she said that the niece is supposed to be watching him. >> They were the ones who called, right? >> Yes. >> Okay. >> And he came to my house and started pounding on the [snorts] front door. >> Why? What did he say? >> He He was like, "Grandma, grandma." I don't know why he called me grandma, but he calls me grandma, but he's very very autistic. >> Oh, okay. >> Very highly autistic. His name is >> Got it. >> But he used to go to the school where I work. >> Can you knock on that door and see if anyone answers? There's supposed to be a niece watching him, but >> Yeah, the niece was watching. And I called the mom and I said, "Your son's next door." >> Where's she at? >> I don't know. She just said, "I'm 10 minutes away. I'll be right there." Her niece was supposed to be watching. I mean, he didn't have any pants on, so we put a towel on him. >> Does he have underwear on or >> No. >> So, he's just making >> He just has a towel a shirt and Yeah. So, >> and I was like, I called her back. I'm like, the cops are on the way. She goes, "No, no." I'm like, "I didn't call them." But they're here. I don't know. >> Well, we're going to find out if there's actually a niece over there or if she just left them here. >> I hope not. She has two other kids, but I don't know if he's if they're with the dad or whatever. >> Okay. How old is he? >> Um, six. >> Okay. I just got to make sure he's all right. Do you mind finding your ID for me, just so I can add you to the problem? >> Hey, buddy. >> Mom is in the store there. >> Are you okay? >> She's on her way from home. >> Uh-huh. Your mom. Is anyone home with you? >> Yeah. >> Who's home with you? >> On her way. >> Okay. You all right, though? You don't have any marks, right? You didn't get hurt. >> Thank you, man. By the time the cops showed up, it was a total mess. A little boy was half naked, scared, and shaking while no one knew where his mom had gone. It was clear this wasn't the first time she left her kids alone [music] as neighbors rushed in quickly to help. You could feel how terrified the poor kid was, stuck all alone while his mom went out having fun. The whole scene was sad, chaotic, [music] and impossible to ignore. >> You guys called, right? >> Yeah. >> Okay. So, what happened? What did you see? He he raised the garage door and he was and all of a sudden he just started standing right there where your your girl officer is screaming at the top of his lungs for his mom >> and we waited and waited thinking that she was there. >> Yeah. >> So he gets pissed off and he closes the garage door and he comes over and starts ringing Tracy's doorbell. Tracy knows them guys. >> Okay. >> I don't know them. >> Does she have another car? >> Yeah. >> That is the wife >> who all lives there. >> Husband and wife and wife and three boys. But this is the big one. They have >> Okay. Like the father is not home. >> Okay. >> Mom always drive that car. >> Yeah. We're trying to figure out if >> but >> she just left them here. >> Press said that she went to a supermarket. >> I don't know. At midnight. What supermarkets open? >> She said that. And when we asked her >> somebody to come and watch her watch, I guess. I don't know. >> Okay. >> It's confusing. You guys been there a couple times. >> Uh I haven't yet. But I'm going to figure out what's going on though. No answer. >> Thank you. All right. Well, >> no problem. >> Well, we got him now, so he's good. Sorry, I appreciate you guys calling. >> I just couldn't figure out why at 11:00 an 8-year-old boy is standing in the middle of the yard screaming for his mother. >> Yeah, exactly. Don't worry, we're we're on it. >> Mom better have an extremely good excuse or she's 10:15. He's extremely autistic. >> Yeah, they got on the door and >> she just left him here alone in the middle of the night. >> So, the the vehicle's registered on their own. >> Yeah, they said a hus neighbors are saying she lives here with her husband, but he might have the other two kids somewhere else. So, where is mom? And she apparently when the neighbor called saying they called the police, she was like, "No, don't call the police. Don't call the police." >> Yeah. >> Yeah. Cuz she it it's a it's starting to look like she knowingly and willfully >> Yeah. neglected her eight sevenyear-old autistic son with supervision. Yeah, I've heard. >> Um >> um Yeah. So, let me see. Do you have a phone number for him? >> She's already called her. She's on her way. >> She's on her way. >> Yeah, she's on her way. She said 10 minutes out. So she, if that's accurate, she should be here anytime. >> Anytime. >> Let me help you, buddy. >> Neighbors were [music] rightfully skeptical of her claim that she just went to a supermarket at midnight. It's a hell of a [music] way to get busted, especially when your 8-year-old is standing in the yard screaming at the top of his lungs. The officers [music] quickly realized they weren't dealing with a simple misunderstanding, but a pattern of knowingly and willfully neglecting a vulnerable child. Oh my god. I don't have any breaks. My babysitter left. I have proof that I bought a babysitter tonight, you guys. Okay. So, what what happened with the Was it like somebody you knew or was it my own service or what was the evil? >> Okay. >> And I paid him $40 to stay here. >> Don't move. >> You guys, >> when was he when was he? >> Yeah. What happened tonight? Where? >> Oh my god, you guys. I literally just went to go riding. Um I left a couple hours ago. Everyone was sleeping. He came over and that was that. And he was You have your ID on you, dude? >> You're supposed to stay here all night. >> Okay, >> you guys. I don't have anyone else to watch my kids. >> Do you have your ID on you? >> Yes, I do. >> Going work. >> Is there any other kids? They were saying there might be more kids. Is there any other kids? >> Yes, there's right now sleeping. Yes. And my baby father is at a concert tonight, you know, >> and I paid someone to watch them so I could go riding for >> And who is this person you paid? Where's he at? >> He's in Melbourne. He stays at a suburban stay, but he's a good babysitter. I have a reference from >> Oh my god, you guys. >> Signal, too. >> You've been out in the compound. I can tell by dirt. >> Let's just make sure the kids are okay right now. >> We're making sure your children are safe inside right now. >> What do I do? >> We need to check on the kids. >> We're coming in with you, okay? We got to make sure the kids are okay. Get pants on him. >> Yeah, there's two little kids. >> What do you want to do? I just need your ID, ma'am. >> You poop a toilet. >> Very good, baby. And he's severely autistic. >> I know. >> I can't believe you like him. >> Hang on. >> Do you have his number? I need to call. >> Oh my gosh. I don't even have his number. I just have his Snapchat, you guys. Oh my god. >> So, can you show me proof that he was ever here? >> Oh my god. Yes. Oh my god. Oh my god, you guys. >> Is it going to be in your wallet here? >> Yes. Oh my god, you guys. Can I read those the last messages or >> um they're just delivered cuz they were Snapchats. >> When the mother [music] finally pulled up, she was covered in dirt and excuses. She immediately started crying about a babysitter who supposedly vanished into thin air. It was almost impressive how she managed to spin a tail about a guy she paid $40 to watch three kids while she went riding. She tried to act like a victim, but the mud on her clothes told the real story of where her priorities were that night. Can I talk to him, please? >> He's not answering. >> So, what time did you leave? >> I left around um >> I left around uh 8:30, 9:00 >> and he was here. >> You're in the compound >> and he Yes. And he sent me and he sent me a picture of him here and he was hanging out smoking on the back porch. >> So, if he sent you a picture So, you never saw him here? >> Yes. Yes. He came here and >> Why were you saying he sent you a picture of him? >> Cuz he sent me a picture of him smoking out on the on the back. like just send me a picture like cuz I asked how things were on the Snapchat. >> Can you show me that photo? >> No, it's a Snapchat. It says delivered and then as soon as you open it, it undelivers. >> Okay. >> And someone told me that he was on someone told me that >> and you still wanted him to watch your three children. >> No, like cuz I know him for a long time. He used to be a hockey player. Like he used to be really like good like a good person. Like my friend dated him for two and a half years. Like she used to watch her kids all the time. And I just I wanted a babysitter. I paid him 40 bucks. He came here. He was hanging out. All the kids. I put the kids to sleep at like 7:30, 8:00 and I left. I went OUT TO THE CAMPGROUND and that was like And then she called me a little bit ago and I rushed here. I rushed home. Oh my god. Why isn't he even answering? >> So you left at >> 8:30 and all my kids were sleeping. >> Can you show me a deposit or something of 40 bucks to him? >> It was cash. It was [clears throat] cash. I don't have anything on my debit cards or nothing. My baby dad pays me in cash for our support. Who all lives here with you? >> It's just me and the boys and my baby father. >> How often does he watch your kids? >> This is the first time ever because I wanted a babysitter. >> So you messaged When was the last time you've ever seen him? >> The last I just seen him a couple days ago. I I meet up with him. He's just a good friend of mine. I knew >> You got to look at this from our point of view. You said you just hired a dude. You don't have his phone number. >> I knew him for a long time. >> You know he's taking apparently and he's never been over here and you just left him with three of your children. >> No. No, not at all. >> That's what you just told me. This is Okay. >> And he's a good friend of mine. He dated my best friend. >> Her story [music] was shakier than a leaf. If you are going to lie about a babysitter, you probably shouldn't [music] pick a strange drug-addicted man you found on Snapchat as your alibi. Hiring a random person [music] off social media to watch your autistic child is significantly worse than just leaving them home alone. She insisted she knew this guy from middle school, yet she didn't even have his phone number. The officers looked rightfully skeptical as she kept spitting excuses. >> And he used to watch her kids. This is the first night that I needed a babysitter. So, I called him and I was like, "Hey, if I gave you $40, you think you could sat sit at the house >> while they sleep while I go >> ride in the compound? >> Ride in the compound for and usually takes me a couple of hours, >> okay, >> to be honest." And that was that. And then he, last I knew, he sent me a picture, a video at 10:39 of him sitting out on my front porch. Look. view it. Nothing. It's cat. It's a >> I know. I know. >> It's Snapchat. >> And you can't show me any deposits or something out of your bank account for 40. You got TO SEE HOW [screaming] THIS looks for us. Okay. It's doesn't look good. >> What do I do you guys? He's not answering. >> Keep trying to get him on the phone cuz right now I mean unless he answers that phone and says, "Yeah, I was here." >> I don't have anyone else that could not at Yeah, he's in Orlando at a concert. Okay. >> Does Does have his phone number still? >> I don't really talk to her, to be honest. >> You know her? >> No, she said her best friend. >> Oh, yeah. >> My my friend. Yeah. One one of my old best friends. >> What do I do? >> I mean, there's going to be a report on this obviously. I mean, you had the whole neighborhood calling 911. >> Can come here. >> They're probably going to have to come here. I can tell you that now. This is definitely going to have to be a report. I'm just waiting on my supervisor at this point to find where we're going from here. How much alcohol have you had tonight? >> I had a couple >> just out there though, right? How long ago? >> When I first left before I get up pretty much. >> All right. >> I don't know what to do. >> Um, >> tell me. >> Let's get him in bed. >> Can we get him in bed or something? Or is that one of the little ones? >> No, cuz he's show Oh, he sleeps out here. Okay. >> Oh god. >> I think it is. >> The Snapchat defense was a bold strategy that backfired immediately. She couldn't provide a phone number or a real name, just a disappearing message history. [music] It became clear she didn't have anyone there. She just assumed her babies would stay asleep [music] while she did whatever the hell she pleased. The officers weren't falling for the hockey player friend story, especially when she couldn't show a single digital receipt for the cash she supposedly paid him. >> Where's uh is so your baby daddy in Orlando? Is he one of whose kids is in there? The two young ones. Yeah. >> What about the oldest kid? Who's his? That is he doesn't have a dad. >> Okay. Got it. >> Not okay. >> Yeah. The baby father of the two others have been taking care of him since he was one. >> Okay. >> And I just tried to call them and they're not answering either. I tried calling mutual friends of me and no one's answering me right now. >> I've been on the phone this whole time. Like I'm in I'm in complete shock. >> Just Just run me through it one more time. What time did you What time did get here? >> Around like 8:30. >> And you left at 8:30? >> Like Yeah. >> I'm It's just It's hard for me to believe you right now. I don't think he was ever here at this point because you're all over the place with him. >> No, he got here around 8:30. He got here around 8:30 and we hung out and I drank a couple teas with him in my garage and all my kids were sleeping. >> So, none of the kids even seen them here? >> No, all of them were sleeping. All three of them were sleeping. >> Okay. >> G was sleeping on the couch and the other two were sleeping in the room and we drank a couple teas and I left around 8:30. >> Okay. >> And he sent me that snap at 10:37. And you think he's on and just left them here with your three young children. That's your words. >> No, I heard that he was on and that's why he was watching people's kids like making money. But >> I don't even friends with him and he is totally fine. Like >> you don't even have his phone number. He's not answering it. You guys aren't that good of friends. >> But we're Snapchat friends. We're like best friends on Snapchat. I Snapchat him every single day, sir. Every single day I Snapchat him. >> What's the streak on there? >> I Snapchat him every single day. See, we're best friends. We always lose our streak. But right now it's three. But we're best friends on there. We always talk. Always. I just can't believe he would leave. Like I can't believe this right now. I cannot believe it. >> Well, got you in a handful of trouble. Obviously, clearly. I mean, you can't have your autistic child running around naked outside. >> No. No. Absolutely. >> Laying on doors, not knowing where you were. >> No. No. That's No. That's why this is this is like I told her like I am highly um experienced with him. He's got diagnosed at 2 and a half. He's six now. Like I know that he elopes. He runs. Like he is a bolter. Like I know that. >> And you thought this random dude on Snapchat was going to be random. Like I said, is my friend? I knew him since uh middle school. Stone Middle School. I knew him. And we always drifted away. He dated my friend. See, >> how do you how do you turn that thing off? >> There's an orange light on the left side. >> Okay. >> There's a light on it. It's off. Just the light bar is on. >> Watching her try to explain [music] the situation was like watching a train wreck in slow motion. She admitted to having a couple of drinks before leaving, which only added fuel to the fire. The officers [music] tried to remain professional, but the frustration was visible on their faces. If your best evidence is a [music] Snapchat streak, you're cooked. And this mom was definitely well done. She was more worried about her ATV and her dog than the children she abandoned. >> I just don't know what to do. Like, none of my none of my baby dads are answering me. >> Is that your ID behind your phone? Can I see it, please? >> Yes. >> Thank you. Okay, just put your hands behind your back for me. >> Wait, what are we going to do with my kids and my dog? >> We're going to figure that out. >> Can we at least contact someone? >> Yeah. Oh, yeah. We're calling DCF. >> Why am I being arrested, though? >> Child neglect. >> But my kids, we're with a babysitter. >> Well, no one else saw the kids with a babysitter and he left. So, you need to find a more reliable babysitter next time than possibly someone on. >> He's not on I don't Oh my god. >> He was fine when he >> All right, come on, dear. We're going to go this way. We're going to have to figure out a way to get this ATV. Yeah. If you don't mind. Inside your garage. Is that where you keep it? >> Yeah. >> Okay. Cuz I mean, if we can't get it, then we're going to have to tow it and I don't want to do that to you. >> Can we please Can we please not take me? I literally have to take you. >> I left my kids with someone and they left. Please there, man. That's my baby boy. Please don't. What am I going to do? >> What for? In what? In what meaning? I mean, you're going to jail and most likely DCF is going to take your kids for the night. >> What? >> Yeah. No. >> Who else is going to have him? We're not leaving. >> Can we call my baby father? >> We can call him, but unless he can be here. >> We have Yes, we have to call his family. >> Okay, hold on. >> Weren't you just here? I'm in a domestic violence situation. Like, weren't we just here? >> I was not here for that. >> Can I speak to Can I talk to our supervisor? >> He just left. Yeah. >> Please let me speak. I need to speak to him. >> Okay. >> Well, when we get to station, you can. He was just here. >> This is insane right now. >> He told me to arrest you as well. So, >> like, who am I going to This is insane. My kids, though. I've never been separated from them in my life. They have never been separated from me. >> Okay. Well, I mean, it is what it is. >> Can we call the baby my baby father? His family. Please. >> My kids are >> I'll make a phone call and see if that's He said he's at a concert in Orlando. I have >> I have his family. >> Yeah, I don't know about that. I'll call and ask, but >> I have family. Please don't take my kids to DCF. Please. >> I'm going to call and ask. Just watch. Watch your leg. Okay. >> Please don't take them to DCF. The moment the handcuffs came out, the reality of the situation finally hit her like a ton of bricks. She started begging and pleading, [music] acting like she had never been separated from her kids in her life. The irony was thick enough to [music] choke on, considering she had literally just separated herself from them to go riding in the mud. The officers had no choice but to call DCF as none of her family members were answering the phone. >> Like, so if you get bonded out, when can I do that? >> Uh, tomorrow. >> Not tonight. Nope. >> Why? >> Cuz you got to see a judge in the morning. Just swing your legs out. >> Can we get the hair out of my face, please? >> I'll touch you. Look straight up at me. This one. This one piece. >> Just all of it, please. >> I think they're still trying. >> Clean up the house. >> Nope. Two of my officers. >> Are you sleeping? >> No, they're all awake. >> And none of them. >> Not a single one. They've called each one like five or six times. Trust me, we're trying. >> And there's no way that I'm sleeping. >> Nope. Nope. Just hit down first. It's okay. >> Go sidest corner. >> Seat belt. Unoosen it. >> This case serves as a grim reminder that parenting isn't [music] a part-time gig you can pause for an ATV ride. Her babysitter was a ghost. Her evidence was a disappearing app. And her children were the ones who paid the price for her night out. It's hard to find any sympathy for someone who leaves an autistic child naked and alone in the dark. The legal system finally caught up with her and hopefully those kids found a safer place to sleep. The mother was officially arrested and hit with three counts of child neglect without great bodily harm. Each count represents a child she left behind in that house while she was out riding. She was booked into the local jail and had to wait to see a judge before any talk of bond could even happen. This was a massive wakeup call that children are not a secondary priority to a hobby. If you were as shocked by this mother's excuses as we were, make sure to like the video and comment your thoughts below.
