This year we're at Coral Springs Middle School for the Coral Springs Police Department's annual summer youth program. This free camp provides our officers with the opportunity to connect with the youth in our community. What makes this camp extra special is that our officers, they're the camp counselors. They spend the summer mentoring and building lasting relationships. This year our campers participated in different enrichment activities including the Junior Dolphins football clinic, RAD for kids, a mock city commission meeting, and a hands-on planting activity provided by Home Depot. The program also included physical fitness through sports and educational projects such as science experiments and arts and crafts. Campers even received free vision screenings through the Florida Heiken Children's Vision Program. This camp also gives teenagers in our community volunteer opportunities. We're incredibly grateful to our generous community partners. Parkridge Baptist Church for donating clothing, St. Mary Magdalene and St. Martin Church for providing food and snacks throughout the camp. Daystar Connect for supplying backpacks and school supplies, and Fizer for their generous donation which helped us provide sporting equipment, art materials, back-to-school shoes, and more for our campers. A special thank you to Broward County Public Schools for hosting us here at Coral Springs Middle School and providing staff to serve lunch daily. As a fun way to end camp, we brought them to Urban Air where they enjoyed a full day of activities. A special thank you to the Community Involvement Unit for making this all possible each and every year.
