real. >> Hey, I stopped you cuz you're driving in the bicycle lane. Obviously not a bicycle. >> I can't even use it on just Okay. >> No, you have to stay in the lane like everyone else. Do you have your license on you, sir? >> I do. And the registration, please. >> Registration. >> Yeah, no worries. Is your address still current? >> Yeah. >> Okay. All right. So, motorcycles aren't allowed to use the bicycle lanes. It's only for bicycles. He says he's trying to do something that's safer for him. Ultimately, it's not safe because no one's anticipating a moped or a motorcycle to be in a bicycle lane and um it's just it's just not safe. So, we're going to make sure his license is good. Um he's driving a scooter or operating a scooter. So, as long as it's under 50 cc's, he doesn't need to have a motorcycle endorsement. This one is under 50 cc's. We're going to check his license out. Looks like he's a veteran, so we'll go from there. Appreciate your service. What branch were you? >> Air Force. >> Air Force. Appreciate that, man. Just a written warning. It's not a ticket. You don't have to do anything with it, but just moving forward. Please don't do that anymore. Absolutely, man. Be safe. All right. >> Thank you. >> Back out. [Music] Tango 31 final stop 100 block university. Hey, right here. >> Hey, officer Charney with Coral Springs Police 68 and a 45 on Atlantic. >> 68 >> on Atlantic. That's why I pulled you over. >> Okay. I'm sorry. >> Is your address current on your license? >> Uh on the on the license, but not on the registration. Okay. >> Say 30 days ago. >> 30 days ago. >> Uh the DMV should tell you whenever I change. >> It doesn't tell us that. >> All right. No worries. Um as long as your address is current, I mean, that's all. Okay. >> So, he was going 68 and 45 on West Atlantic Boulevard. He was in the far right lane. Passed everybody. Um the radar picked him at 68. I >> had to do the U-turn, catch up to him. Once we caught up to him, we got to University Drive and then we just uh obviously did everything here. But um check his license out. 68 and a 45. It's 23 over, so it's pretty fast. He said he's just going to work. Just got to slow down out here. It's too fast. It's not a highway. Registration it is good. So you do have the sticker on. You just got to find where the paperwork is. >> If you need to get a new one, you can always contact the DMV. They can get you a >> replace tomorrow. So I'm going to move uh the registration over. >> So there you go. >> All right. Perfect. >> As far as the speed goes, I am issuing a citation for it. You have your options in the pink paper. Please slow down. All right. >> Take care. That's all right, man. Take care. >> Yeah. So, that's where they do. >> I don't know if they're friends. >> Stop. Tangle 31 1050 stero 7 in sample. >> If you flee, you're going to jail. I'm telling you that right now. If you flee, you're going to jail. >> Sir, >> what are you doing? This guy just cut me off and slammed on his brakes and almost caused me to hit him. So, I just wanted to turn the >> Okay, but stupid. I know. >> But you're also going But you're also going 80 mph on State Road 7 before all that happened. Okay, you got to slow down, man. You're going to cause an accident. You almost caused like numerous accidents. To start off, I'm officer Charnie with the Coral Springs Police Department. That's the reason for the stop. 80 and a 45 and then all that we just saw. Do you have your license on your registration insurance? I'm going to be uh I'm going to level with you. >> What's that? >> Said I'm going to level with you. Okay. >> Yeah, man. >> Um >> I'm on my way to go take a drug test so I can pass. >> Okay. >> So I can get a job so I can finally have income. I'm 3 months behind on my rent and I'm I'm very very sorry sorry for my actions and it and it doesn't it doesn't exclude, you know, it doesn't doesn't give me the right to behave the way that I've been behaving, but I I've been under so much stress, man, and I don't want to be homeless. Now, I also have a concealed firearm uh license as well, and it is on my person here. >> Okay, >> just so you know. >> Yeah. >> Listen, dude. >> Thanks for letting me know. >> I'm really sorry, man. We just don't want people getting hurt out here. And driving like that, you're gonna hurt someone. >> Tango 31. Can I get a 94 reference signal zero? Everything's 104. >> So, prior to all that happening >> with the careless driving, we were in traffic on State Road 7 and the Sawrass, which is an interstate near Coral Springs. He was going 80 and a 45. So, that's what caught my attention. I do the U-turn on. He's at the red light now at State Road 7. After the light turns green, he starts to accelerate. You saw the car pull out in front of him instead of slowing down. I I don't I think he was distracted doing something because it was a delayed reaction. He slammed the brakes. A little road rage ensued. >> And then obviously you heard him say it himself. He wanted to return the favor to the other driver, hence cut him off and brake check him. That's why we're in these unmarked cars because if we were in a marked car, we wouldn't see that normal driving behavior that this guy's done. And I know this is normal for him most likely because he's been called in as a reckless driver in the past on um July 104 >> 14th of this year which was only about a month ago but units couldn't find the guy but today we did. >> So >> he's almost at super speeder. Remember, you have to go 50 over to be classified as a super speeder, which means it's a misdemeanor in Florida, which means I could just take him for the speed alone. Because the 80 mph violation happened and then, you know, a few minutes went by and all this road rage ensued afterwards. I'm not going to arrest him for reckless driving. However, he's getting two tickets. One will be for the speed because he's going 30 over. It still has that rule of mandatory court appearance. So, he'll have to go in front of a judge, explain why he's going 80 and a 45. And then he'll also get a citation for aggressive, careless driving, which is the infraction. It's not a crime. Reckless is the crime. Careless is the infraction. So, he'll have to deal with that. And um we'll go from there. All right, sir. Look, I appreciate you owning up to your mistake. Just to give you a heads up, though, when I run your tag, it shows that someone called you in as a reckless driver about a month ago. So, if this is like a normal thing that you usually do, please stop because you're going to get yourself hurt or arrested. All right? So, I'm giving you two citations. One's for the speeding. The other one's for aggressive, careless driving. Nothing's criminal here, but because you were going 30 over the post the speed limit, it's a mandatory infraction uh court hearing date. So, basically, all that means is it's still an infraction, but a court um a court appearance is required. So, you're going to have to go in front of the judge and they'll probably ask why you're going so fast. because this is um mandatory. I just need you to sign both citations. You're not admitting go by signing. You're just promising to take care of these >> tickets. Okay. >> Correct. You're going to sign >> right above my name. Yep. On both. >> There's a new law in Florida, too. I'm just trying to help you with like your driving skills. Be a safer driver. It's there's a new law called the super speeder law. >> Okay. And if you're going 50 over or over 100, it's an automatic arrest. Okay? So, you got to slow down, please. You could get a criminal citation or with a court date or you can get arrested. So, you got to be careful, man. >> Um, >> and then one more time here. >> If if I choose to, you know, like say I hire one of those ticket guys, whatever that those things are, I mean, does that person basically show up for me? >> Correct. So, you would hire the attorney. They would go to court for you. So they'll even show it to trial uh on your behalf. >> Okay. >> So you want you you don't even have to represent yourself or or show up. They'll take care of everything and represent you on your behalf. >> What do you think best? >> I can't give you any legal advice, but uh we are filming >> We are filming traffic Thursdays right now and everything was just captured on like 4K camera. >> Okay. >> Okay. So if it goes to court, I'm going to bring that to court. >> Okay. >> But please be careful. >> I'm not giving you a ticket for the tints and I'm not arresting you for reckless driving. I appreciate that. >> All right. >> I really do. >> Take care, man. >> Can I stop something? >> Make a right. Make a right. Make a right. Going the wrong way. >> Hey, I'm Officer Charie with Coral Springs Police. The reason for the stop is when you came out of that McDonald's parking lot, you blew the stop sign and you pulled out in front of that white van. >> I did. I did. And I was >> Let's do this. >> I'm trying to get back to >> work because there's traffic moving. I was rushing. >> Okay. Well, you got to slow down, man. >> No, man. It's too fast, bro. >> All right. So, do you have your license on you right now? >> Trying to get back to >> I understand, but there's rules and laws out here to keep people safe, and you can't be doing what you just did. Okay. >> Let me see what I can do for you. >> Is your ag still current? >> Yes. >> Let's do this cuz my car is blocking this. We're going to back up. There's the ticket clinic is right over here. You can park in front of the ticket clinic. Okay. Tango 31. Final stop is going to be in front of the ticket clinic. So, we just came onto Woodside Drive from Sample Road out of the McDonald's parking lot. This driver runs the stop sign. Instead of making a complete stop, rolls in front of another vehicle going southbound on Woodside, makes them stop, and he's just telling me he's late for work and he's asking me to cut him a break. Well, this is aggressive driving in a nutshell. You got your failing to obey traffic control device, which is the stop sign, and then also temple. You also have the failed to yield right of way because obviously the white van had the right of way to go south because there's no traffic control device for him. Hence, he doesn't have to stop for traffic. But since this guy pulled out of the alleyway where the stop sign was, that caused him to stop. So, I look at his history. There's a lot of tickets this guy's gotten in the past. I'm not going to help this guy out. He's um he's going to get another citation today. It's just going to be for the stop sign. I'm gonna mark the aggressive driving box on the citation itself. And if he'd like to, he can go to court and have a attorney help him maybe. So, look, I'm writing you one. Realize I could write you two for failing to yield right away. So, it's just for the stop sign. You have three options. You can pay it, you can go to traffic school, or you can go to traffic court. Whichever option you choose, you have 30 days. >> Couldn't just couldn't be nice to give me a break. >> I cut you a break. >> I get it. You did. You did in a sense. But because said, "You know what? You were a little far away from the guy when you pulled out, but you didn't stop. You hesitated." And I did. I was going to go and I was going to stop and I >> just waiting. I'm late for so my time. I'm just I'm dismissed. >> I got you, man. I got you. Um, look, if you want to go to court, you're more than welcome to. You can talk to these people or you can talk to the attorney yourself. It's up to you, man. I ain't doing anything but giving it to this guy and that's the end. >> There you go. Three more years and I'm retired. >> Excellent. You're almost there. >> So, you know what? I worked for Publix for 27 years. >> It's a long time. >> All right. Well, be safe. Yep. Take care. Hey guys, if you like this week's episode of Traffic Thursdays, please remember to like and share.
