My very first homicide assigned to me was back in 1999. An ex-boyfriend had murdered his ex-girlfriend. We were we were actually at a city lunchon that we used to do, longevity lunchon, and uh the call came out and all the detectives jumped up and we went up to the scene and started my investigation. It was assigned to me and very excited of course, a little nervous, but I trusted my partners and we affected the arrest of the person. Um, so I got to that was my first one. Being in the crimes against persons unit makes me feel a sense of accomplishment uh both personally and professionally. This is what I wanted to do uh my life for my whole life. um the agency gave me an opportunity to do that. So my mindset was to not mess it up being a part of this unit. Wow. Just trying to find words uh for that. It's it's an important job. I mean you you're investigating the ultimate crimes. you know, a murder, a murder of a family member, a loved one. Um, and you you don't want to mess it up. You want to make sure that you do it right. And knowing that that I've been doing that now for 30 years, um, that that is it is just a sense of accomplishment.
