On November 4th, 2025, Target Security reported that a woman selected several items, placed merchandise into a container, and then went through selfch checkckout without scanning everything. Loss prevention stopped her at the exit, but she refused to cooperate and walked out of the store. She went to her vehicle, walked back toward the entrance briefly without going inside, and then left the property. Deputies were given her description in the vehicle she left in. A short time later, a deputy found that vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. And that's where the body camera footage begins. >> Hello. She acknowledges that she was at the store and there was some sort of confrontation with the employees there. >> I haven't fully sorted out what she's claiming or what the store is claiming. Um, I got their IDs so I'm just running them now. Um, >> he's in the car. >> He's in the car. He doesn't have a He's got an ID card only from what I can tell. Um they are pushing very hard to try to like she'll stay with us but he's going to leave to go get their kids type of thing. So they want this car away from us. They've been pushing that hard. So I don't know you know what the accusation is at the store. >> Dispatch received >> what they allegedly took. >> But I'm running 27 29s on them and that's really all I got so far. Yeah, they're Shel's going to store. >> Okay, >> dispatch has been updated. >> No, I'll run them now. I'll run them and put them in the case. >> Hello. >> Hello. >> Hi. >> Hi. So, this is just a little bit of a misunderstanding. So, like I was at the store and then the lady was like, "Hey, I'm at Target whatever." And then I was, "Can I step out to show you?" >> Okay. >> Okay. She was like, "I'm at Target whatever." And then she was like, "Um, I'm like, okay." And she's like, "I'm stopping you for like concealment or whatever." So, I was like, "I don't even know what you mean. I literally go like this, dump my bag for her, and was like, "Look, I don't have anything. Like, I have to grab my kids." Like, you know, they just got off the bus. And um long story short, I was like, "Let me put my stuff down, you know, and then I'll come right back and talk to you." Like I'm not going to leave like or anything like that. So I do that and then he's like, "Got to go get my kids." So he's like going and then I stop him like flag him down and I'm like I need the car because like somebody else. Okay. Huh? Where do the kids live at or where do you all live at? >> Um, pumpkin section. >> Okay. And like I literally like was like that like stopped like for her, dumped my bag like this and was like, "Look, I don't have anything like I don't know." But I did like go out of the store before and I did have something in my hand. It was like a patch or something, but like I came right back in because I was just running out to get him. >> Like so I don't know if maybe that was it. We'll have to, you know, talk to Target, figure out the whole situation and everything and just verify all that stuff and, you know, if it's a misunderstanding, it's a misunderstanding. >> You know, obviously they called us, so we still have to investigate through that whole n yard. >> Is that a target receipt? >> Yeah. I mean, I probably have my >> No, it's still the Dutch. Dispatch has been updated. >> They're double checking it now, but I think he's got a 29. The driver >> 49 >> 49 29 positive 29. >> You know what I meant? >> I think I got it. Yeah, I'm showing an active warrant >> 21 FTA stolen property 12. >> I'm just looking for where it's out of Bucks County, but I don't know where that is. >> Bucks County. That's not a Florida county, but it's a surrounding states warrant. So, if it's Georgia, maybe >> 211 214 status check. >> Parole violation for DUI. >> Yeah, it's Bucks County >> 6135 on teletype >> 35. >> Are you clear your 1012? >> Good. >> Subject has three 49s out of Pennsylvania. All three are extradition surrounding states only. >> I referenced that female. She also has three 1049 non-extraded ones of April 4 jury. The next one fraud impersonation and the third one is for violation of rule. And she's also showing Florida probation of release status for petty conviction and the special conditions are no alcohol or illegal drugs at 27th Valley. You copy. >> Can you 109 the 27 info on the mail please? Copy. Valid ID card. >> Okay, so he's got an OD. >> Copy. Thank you. >> 21 traffic. >> I'm going to let you hold those. >> You said I was driving. >> Is that a target receive? It's like by the glasses where your hand is on it. >> Oh yeah. >> I mean here you can like >> Yeah. >> gift card. >> Yeah. >> I just gave her $50. >> Oh. Call for a gift card. >> Not sure if that anchor was a customer that was not responding. We have >> ice cream. >> Huh? >> Oh, ice cream. >> Oh, yeah. >> I guess I can always >> What is it? Like >> those things are usually like freeze back up pretty well. >> I've gotten them where they're like super like milky and they you just put them in the freezer. Ma'am. >> Ma'am. >> I just wanted to say something. >> I'm right here. >> Well, I didn't know if I had >> We all work for the same place. >> I know. It just doesn't look good cuz I do have I have like a previous thing >> that almost like a petty thing or like a skip. >> What was that? >> Huh? >> Where was that? when it was years ago that >> was something that happened in the past. >> How long ago? You said years ago. >> Yeah. >> But I just feel like it's not going to >> No, like we don't we don't listen like we we investigate everything, you know, case by case basis. You know, if something if something happened in the past, I mean, we don't necessarily say like, oh, this happened in the past, so this must happen now. You have to investigate everything, you know, specifically, right? You have to do a case by case, talk to everybody, incident by incident, and everything. So, I mean, I don't know. You want that lady to think I was being disrespectful like I told her I was going to come back. He just didn't know what was going on. So what what happens right is like if they're have you know whatever they got going on like if it's a loss prevention officer at like any grocery store or retail office right you know >> they have technically have the right to stop people and say like hey you know >> and I but I did stop for her like I stopped I like dumped my stuff out for her like >> no I get that I'm just saying like you know in those situations like that when they stop you like they expect you to like stay until we you get there is usually what happens. >> Yeah. I mean, I told her I'd be right back. >> Yeah. If someone like So, someone's stealing stuff from somebody else. I mean, it's their property, right? >> Like, I stopped for her like and I like dumped my stuff out to show like >> No, I get it. I get it. Like I said, we're just trying to square everything out. Square everything away, figure it out, see what we got going on. We have a deputy going over there just to see what's going on. We appreciate y'all being cool and, you know, chilling with us and, you know, working through this whole situation. Get it figured out. You know, I wouldn't try to overstress it. >> I have twins. >> So, mom will grab them. >> He said mom's going to grab them. His mom. >> I think they're going to pick. >> They were getting off the bus. Um, >> okay. But I just like I'm saying like I mean I don't know how long the whole situation >> I have like Oh years ago >> like I said we got to we got to investigate it. >> Yeah. So we just have to do our due diligence, do our job, conduct an investigation, make sure everybody's all squared away and you know >> So you obviously know you can't drive, right? >> Yeah. Yeah. >> What do we do? >> Huh? Well, I I mean I was driving and he just had to go to get >> So I mean >> Well, because I was going back. >> She made me do it. You know what I mean? Like that's not You know >> that doesn't ever >> Where is your license at? >> Pennsylvania. >> I was driving but you had to get the car to go get the kids cuz somebody had to get them. >> I didn't think she was going to come back in the car. I thought she was >> Well, you have a valid license. So why would you put him in that situ? Or why would you know still you made the decision? >> Somebody had to get my kids weren't. >> So he just >> Weren't you both driving the same car? >> Yeah, but I went back and >> Yeah, she went back. I thought she was going back into the school. >> Well, I mean neither. Still not a good idea, right? Wood Boulevard >> real quick. There's no weapon in this car. >> What is that? >> Sounds like he's getting secured at this exact moment. Real quick, just just chill with digging through the car, >> ma'am. >> But I'm just >> I get it. What is What's going on? Why is he >> Well, sounds like he got secured in handcuffs. >> What? I know, but why? >> Well, he doesn't have a license. >> No, no, but you [ __ ] drive. Please. >> I don't know what exactly. >> Just give me the ticket. Can Can you ask them? Just give me the ticket, please. >> I don't I don't know what that's about. Right. So, if he's secured Oh, he's fine. He's okay. But >> yeah, but is he he's going to get in trouble? Well, right now he's just chilling over there. So, I mean, I don't know what whole other deal they got with that. I haven't looked at any of his information. Like I said, please just stop. >> Yeah. Like, I don't >> Thank you. >> So, you understand what's happening right now? His driver's license is no good, right? >> Can I get the ticket? >> Let me talk. Okay. We've got a deputy going to Target to figure out what happened there. >> And then they'll be able to see that I literally stopped. >> We're going to sort through all that. In the meantime, he's got no valid driver's license. So, he's being secured, right? He's not under arrest because we don't want him sitting in a vehicle where he could take off at any moment because he decides he doesn't want to be cooperative anymore. Does that make sense? >> Can I Can I get his ticket? >> We're That's not how the That's not how that works. >> That's That's how that any of that would work. >> Okay. We're going to deal with the driver's license issue after we sort through the target issue. Target is our bigger concern. >> Okay. Let me >> Okay. So, when the deputy gets there, talks loss prevention there. We'll figure out what transpired. We'll watch the cameras. >> Okay. and then we'll go from >> because I did like I'm not going to lie I did >> did have stuff >> this >> and these this stuff was in it >> she's talking about this cuz I was like doing this And like maybe one of these like >> because when I was like walking I like had these things. These were in my hand like I told you. Remember I told you I ran out of the store real quick to go get him cuz I needed the card. Like we have a Target credit card but he didn't. He just gave me a gift card. And when I went back in I had to get stuff for the turtle for this. item. It's going to be a small container. It's going to be white. >> Yes. And I told you, didn't I not tell you that >> that I had stuff in my Yeah. Like I had stuff in my hand because like I said, I ran out to get the card from him and then like when I went back inside, he was like already freaking out. So, like I was like kind of in a rush and I just like grabbed the stuff like this at the register with the lady like with the lady and so I guess that's what she's talking about but like it wasn't >> like we have a credit card over there too you know >> in that situation right >> like a general thing but you have things that you may or may not have paid for >> but but I didn't know that at that at that very second. You know what I mean? Like until me and you were just >> talking rushing through things, right? >> Yeah. Like come on. Like it's a dog. >> Like I said, especially if like a lost prevention officer is like trying to stop you. >> But no, but I stopped. I did stop >> until like it's like it's cleared up until like the whole situation's figured out. Not just I stopped and now I'm going to take off. >> Did you call her? >> Thank you. >> We got her. Yeah, true. >> John, walk with me. Let's just put I'm just going to put you in the car so we don't have to watch both of you. Okay. >> Again, nothing's changing, not under arrest. We're just trying to make sure we don't have to keep an eye on both of you while we work through this. Okay. >> Go ahead and slide in. >> Crack the window for you and we'll catch you an update as soon as we can. Okay. You're not under arrest. You're being detained. >> Yeah, I'm good. Thanks, man. >> You heard me. You're not under arrest. You're being detained until we sort things. Okay. So, just kind of taking a second to like >> It's okay. We just got to >> Yeah. Do you think good decision? >> You think that I can go to jail for that? >> I I don't know. I don't know what that's going on over there because I'm here with you with you. >> But yeah, but they're they're technically Well, not they're technically there is stuff. >> I I don't know what Target's got going on. I'm here talking with you. My job right now is just to hang out with you until that over there's figured out. And once I know more, I can talk to you about it. >> Do I need them to to come get the car? >> We still got >> We still got We got to like I told you, we got to we got to over there now. If all we got is a suspended driver's license, then the deputies will look at his history and we'll see, you know, how bad it is and they'll make a decision about what they're going to do with it. But he may leave just a ticket and drive. But that goes all the way to the other extreme which is if you stole a bunch of stuff from Target. But it's not. Yeah. >> You don't know. I'm not telling you that's what's happening. I'm telling you that's a possibility. >> Yeah. There I things it wasn't >> if it's $5 worth of stuff and they didn't want you trespass. Okay. But that's what he's figuring out right now. >> But is is that going to go like on >> So real quick, right? We're working with a lot of hypotheticals. Let's work what we know and what we can't do. Right. So, right now, let's just take a minute, just breathe and relax, okay? We're going to figure all this out. Just, you know, try to work with us as we go. We're going to let you know what happens as it happens. >> Hello. >> Hey, hold on. Um, >> okay. So, there was like like a little bit of an incident. It's it's going to be cleared up. Like, it's Don't like freak out or anything. Um, it was my fault. And then, uh, John got in the car to drive because he had, you know, was trying to get back to the kids and couple's over. So, just just I'll call you in a couple minutes. Okay. >> It should be everything should be fine. >> Please. like that like there is >> it wasn't like intentional. >> Okay. >> You know, like I still had money on the guard. We have a >> trouble >> and I gave them my license, you know what I like I gave them my license like uh to scan like cement things or if I was trying to intentionally do something would I give them my license with my home address and everything on it you know >> like you said if you're >> I know but because of what happened a couple years ago I know I'm almost >> well what happened a couple years ago >> right now we don't know >> you you have receipts with me I have the receipt, but but there but there is a couple. >> This is the one that was purchased with like a gift card. >> Like um a couple things that were but like not intentional intentional. I had walked out of the store like to I ran out of the store. I had this stuff in my hand like this and I told the guy um I was like, "Hey, can I leave my basket right here? Like I have to run out to the car and grab the card." So the gun held the basket for me or whatever and then I ran out to the car, grabbed the card. >> He saw you go out of the bin. >> No, I didn't have the bin. like I just had like like this couple of stuff in my hand and then um he held my uh basket for me and then I came back in um and then like I just put the stuff like you know put that stuff right there cuz I had stuff in my hand like I don't even remember I picked up my phone or something like I don't remember at all you know and then like I went and checked out and like I had got um cement like for my turtle's enclosure, my baby tortoise, and uh like she scanned it and I gave her my driver like she needed a driver's license for I guess or maybe that was like a ploy. I don't know. But unless >> maybe you can hop up it. Yeah, it was like cement blue >> and um >> I gave her my driver's license, you know, like if I was doing like intentionally doing I wouldn't give her my driver's license, you know, like >> Hello. >> Thank you, sir. Good luck. Appreciate it. Wait, >> is it he's leaving? >> Yeah, he's done. >> He's in my >> Yeah. >> No, I mean he's leaving. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. >> He's just he's he's our commander. He's got he's got other things to do. >> We're We're the road deputies. This is our primary job to like, you know, talk. His job is to make sure we're doing our job. That's it. And and a lot of other things, obviously. But I just feel like as I like in my prior thing, >> it doesn't look like I know that has no bearing on what >> like I told you like that we every like I said already before like every incident we investigate is its own independent case >> or independent thing. We don't you know >> right now we can't be like oh you're on probation you're going to jail because of this without us even figuring out what we have there first. That's that's first. Yeah. When are you on probation? >> I'm like literally done in like >> Was it >> I'm like done in like a week. >> Oh >> yeah. >> Was the probation for the >> Yeah. And like I did I had to do like community control like all this stuff. And it was literally like like um if you read it cuz it was this petty like it was like a petty theft cuz it was only like a few dollars or whatever. I was like, "Gosh, skip >> at Walmart, but they shouldn't even make you do your own, you know." >> Do you mind if I see what you have? This, as far as you know, this is the only thing you left without me. >> This was that was >> that was in the basket. >> Okay. >> And I stopped, I stopped, and I I dumped out my first car like out in front of us. >> It's like an ornament. >> It's like a Christmas ornament type. No, it's a patch. Oh, it's a puzzle. >> You buy all this stuff today. >> Receipt gift card. >> But like I can see why I probably look like I always look sus cuz I always have so much stuff like and then he always thinks I have a bit back. Like >> well you know it's just a situation where you know it's we got to just make better. >> Like I had a bunch of stuff but like you know stuff I had to put it back. the I get your like you know life happens things are in a rush the you know as silly as it sounds for you know situation the best thing to do is just like when you're chill you're talking to them and like complying with them like they're really >> feel bad cuz like I was like let me put my stuff down >> that you know like I said that's the that's the best look in that situation you know what I mean is just like >> you know talking to them >> I don't know what else did anything else come out of there we can double check like >> if you want to that's up to Yeah. Can I see it? >> What are you looking for? >> The receipt. >> Like >> here. I'll let you hold. >> He's on the phone. I'm just >> That's okay. Let him be on the phone. He's got to be on the phone anyways. >> Is Do you have to give him a ticket? >> I I don't have to do any of that. I'm just telling you the reason. >> Yeah, but I mean like and I get the ticket. >> No. So, the way like any tra any traffic violations work. >> Huh? the receipt. >> Yeah. Like we're just going to double check just everything real quick. >> Are you good with that? >> Double checking. Yeah. >> Hey, are you good if I put you on speaker phone? >> Okay. >> All right. You're on speaker phone. >> So, receipt I have here is the first item is some ice cream. >> They do have ice cream. >> And then I have all of that. There's a jigsaw puzzle which is a dollar. said that's the that's the last item. >> Citruses. >> I have that receipt. >> Yeah, that's the one that's got all the stuff. Okay. >> She said she said we're good to like compare what she's got versus her and what's not on. She's kind of letting us go. >> Okay. >> Um >> and like tell her tell her I didn't mean to be disrespectful. like he didn't understand and that's why he pulled away and then I I tried to stop at the light at Walgreens because like you know he couldn't get over and I was going to get out but um then the cop pulled us over but I just want you to know I wasn't trying to not comply. So if I give you these the barcodes off these hatches and the box thing. >> Yeah. >> So this is all that was involved today. >> No. >> I don't think she was left. But I did have other stuff like put in the store and stuff, but like stuff I you know I put back and just threw it on shelves and stuff because I get I always do that. That's why I always look sus in the store and then he comes in. >> Do you have another one of these clothes? No, >> yeah, it was just like these things like whatever. Just this stuff. >> But there was stuff in here >> that we just dumped down. Oh, okay. >> You're good. >> And then there's three patches. >> And this might have been in there. >> Yeah. Oh, the first one is 23782. >> Like I'm so close to being done. >> Next one is 237136. >> Like if it means anything like I haven't gotten in zero trouble. Like I have all of the rules. Oh, I mean a year ago though, like I got into >> Are you about to change this call to a signal a >> If you want to tell me about something happened to your girl, that's fine. If you don't want to, it's not a big deal. >> Just it doesn't affect what we're doing today. But like tell them like I did have them in my hand too when I when I went out to get the car. >> I get one of my juvenile bedroom. >> Oh good. >> My mother-in-law's she's so mad. >> We are landed with the mother. >> Do y'all Does mother-in-law live with y'all or y'all live separative in the area in Hey, >> can you hear me? >> Okay, so we're still sitting here. Um, they're just going through some stuff and sorting it out >> as well as the >> um near Walgreens. >> Yeah. Um, but >> nobody's hurt. We're okay. >> Everyone's okay >> so far. No one's >> said >> this might have been in there. I don't Maybe one of these thing. I don't I just dumped it with everything. So, we'll just have to go. >> Yeah. >> Hey, let me see your >> Yeah. >> Can we just count maybe count? >> Yeah, that's what we're going to do. >> Okay. But we're just going to we're just sorting something out is a really just a misunderstanding and then and everything and then we'll be home. Okay. >> Yes. >> That's on. >> All right. I'll have John call you in a minute. >> 99.5. >> Yeah. There's two things. >> Citra. >> Hershey's chocolate. That's on here. >> Another thing of citrus. >> Yeah. And that's got grapefruits in it. There's a pink juvenile where >> I'm going to have her look up. >> What does the bottle thing? >> Oh, the room is the storage bin. >> Oh, okay. >> Oh, okay. Yeah, she pays for the storage. >> The core jar she's got here that's on the receipt kitchen spoon. >> Those are wooden spoon. >> What's the candle? >> Yeah, she said there's a candle that she didn't pay for. >> Okay, >> there's I did have stuff that I put down. There's there's white. There's clear jars that look like a paint. >> That's what's on the >> Oh, wait. Is this it? >> Just three or four people back with a child at 99. >> This is a trinket dish. >> It's a trinket. >> Brown candle with a wooden top. We're just We've all done like >> craft kits >> which looks like it's >> delond. >> Yes. >> Yeah. >> And then the jigsaw puzzles you got here. So the only thing I see is that >> is that is that thing on there? >> I got a turtle spoon trinket dish. >> Trinket dish. Very tiny dish. >> Is a baby hatchling. >> Oh something you use for like a doll. >> All this. >> Yeah. >> No, this was definitely paid for because I use my assistant. >> Oh, >> this is the only thing that's not right now. >> Oh, wait. Is is the trinket is that trinket thing on there? >> I don't Yeah, I didn't see that on there. >> Yeah, you're off. You're off. >> That's I literally stopped and dumped my bag for two. >> You might have to rework how you shop. >> Oh, I shopped like a like a noodle. >> You might have to get more organized. Make it like a list. >> But I did have like a bunch of stuff at one point. Like >> your car unlocked? >> I've got the red disc. this. I'm going go check on. Should I check on you? >> I'm checking up on you, making sure you're okay physically. >> Are you almost done here or what? >> Uh, they're still working through some things. >> Oh, yeah. >> Yeah. Sorry. >> Appreciate your patience. >> Thanks. this literally wouldn't be the big >> I don't I'm not saying I'm not Don't get me wrong I'm not saying you've done this I'm just wondering if anything fell in the bag anything like that >> we found the candle >> candle >> it's a woody >> but if the lady if the lady saw me not scan it why wouldn't she say something. >> It's a riffle. It's >> like a one of those like things you like. >> Why wouldn't she Why wouldn't she say something, dude? The lady was helping me. >> I don't know. No idea. Technically, they did say something when they grabbed you at the >> No, I'm saying the lady was helping me bring this stuff up. >> Was it a self scanner? >> Yeah, but the lady was helping me >> cuz she need like I had to give her my ID. Yeah. >> And um >> like she was she helped me again and miss everything. So I don't get it. >> I couldn't speak for things I wasn't there for >> you. What >> do you think I'm going to go to jail? >> I don't know. I have no idea. >> Yeah, but isn't it? >> That's not up to me. I'm just here with you right now hanging out. >> Can you Can you tell her that the lady the lady helped me scan the item? So, >> okay. >> If it if it's over like a certain amount, right? >> So, like think about it like this, right? like say it's whatever like it's 5 10 $15 $100 either way right it's not up to me it's up to the store that was stuff was taken from right it's not up to us >> with the lady help me like >> so like I said >> we'll work through that but like >> I swear to God like >> I I don't I don't make that decision like for anyone You know what I mean? >> I'm not saying that's what's going to happen, right? I I can't speak for someone who's like a mile down the road and not physically right here. >> No. >> Target. >> It's up to Target. >> Like I'm not saying whether you go to jail. I'm saying whether they would want to like if there's like if if there's some form of criminal intent in this situation or they they establish that whatever happened happen. If they were to like want to press charges, that'd be up to them. But I'm not saying that's what's even happening. I don't know. >> But she called him John. Like >> she called what? >> And she called him John. >> Called who? John? >> His name? >> His name's Deputy First Class Patel. >> Is his name John? >> No, it's not John. >> Oh, I thought you said John to get on the speaker. >> No, no, his name's not John. And like can't they like look like I I had ran with the stuff in my hand and came back in like >> jeez like I have small children >> again you whether they want to do something about it or not is on target right we don't make we don't make those decisions >> like I pay double Oh, like can I pay double what it is? Like and >> and like I said, we still have to work through it. You know, that whole if it's just a snafu or whatever, like >> what? >> If it's a, you know, a snafu or a a misunderstanding, you know, >> delta 224. >> Delta 223. >> And do you guys need relief for any assessments over there? >> Yes, please. What's that? >> There's a We're We're at the end of our shift. >> We're at the end of our shift. So, another deputy just asked us if we wanted someone to come here to relieve us so they can stand by. >> That's it. Nothing. Like, I have small children. Like, like I left the store. I ran out of Go ahead. >> And I I stopped for >> Are you good if we look through the truck? >> Um I'm coming. I mean, yeah. But >> it's yes or no. Just so we can try to clear this up. Is there saying there's more items? If you're telling me there's no no items, you don't. >> No, but I'm But to be fair, like I literally dumped the bucket. Like I like there wouldn't there wasn't enough time. >> If you have it then we don't have it. But that's up to you. It's a yes or no. >> I mean I mean I don't care but I don't know. I can't speak for my in-laws. It's not my car. But >> you're in control of the car. >> Oh yeah. >> Yeah. You or him. I can ask him too. >> I mean I don't. >> Right now you guys have control of the car. All right. It's up to you guys to say yes or no. >> I mean I I run it. Come on.225 >> and I dumped everything >> like >> in this like in the store when you were like walking out. Is that when that happened? When that when did that happen? in that hole. >> Yeah, but but the lady the lady was helping me scan the items. That's why like why would she let Why would she let that go? >> I don't know. >> You know what I mean? >> I get what you're saying. You said I >> like the lady was helping me scan stuff. So, if she saw it, why didn't she say something? >> I wasn't there. I don't know. >> Yeah, it's hard for us to >> I don't I have no idea. I I did tell him I did have other stuff like I put and I had put stuff like on the shelves like as I was leaving like I and I even stopped like before the um like the line at the register like I started to go through like the stuff you know what I mean? And I put some stuff um I put some stuff on top of like the soda machine right there. >> So there's like two >> like selfch checkckouts. Which side? So over here like I was over here and then like you know I already knew I had too much stuff. You know what I mean? >> So >> so they were looking at the store, right? Say like across the street is the store. >> This one closest to the dollar store. >> Okay. So on the right side. >> Yeah. And I specifically like stopped and like put stuff up like like take stuff off. >> Okay. >> Yeah. They said no. They said wait for them to come. >> It's okay. >> Yeah. >> She said no. Said no. >> Yeah. They said just wait a second. >> Okay. >> Um >> who's that? I didn't hear. >> We have laws. >> Okay. >> The people who own the car coming. >> What are they saying? >> They just said there was more stuff here. But I did. Can you tell them that I put stuff? >> So, so here's the thing, right? Let me explain this process to you, right, real quick, so you kind of understand why this is taking long and we're having to go back and forth. That's different question. >> Yeah. >> They have to physically go through every part of your trip through that store and account for every item that was taken off of a shelf and either moved from one place to the other. And like you told me, in your words, >> that sucks. >> In your own words, you're a noodle. No, because I put stuff like >> like I said real quick like in your own words, you shop like you're a noodle or something. That's what you said. So like they have to account for everything that's either missing or moved around or taken or whatever >> cuz I literally will be like going through like I have my basket. I'm like >> and then like I'll think he's going to come up cuz he's always like why do you have so much stuff and then like as I'm like go through I'm like you know I don't need to I don't need to >> just Can I just say something? >> Yeah. So if that's all there is, that's all there is. If they're saying just playing devil's ad, me not being a me being a person. >> Yeah. >> With some common sense. If it's not if it's not here, you don't have it. >> Yeah. >> Can is that fair to say? >> That's why I'm asking you, can we just make sure cuz right now you're telling us the truth so far. You >> It is what it is and we appreciate that. >> Yeah. If we can say it's not in this car, it's on them to figure out where it's at. >> That's That's why I was asking, are you good if I take a look in the I'm not looking for anything else. >> No, it's not that. It's just like like honestly I'm going to tell you like I have stuff in the car that's unrelevant to this trip. Things that like we were, you know, going to return and like stuff like that. So, it's like if I do that that might I don't, you don't know. Does that make sense? Like there's stuff that's like unrelated like even just like from other stores. Just No. No. Like All right. Just for a sec. >> This I was going to return this, right? Um I obviously have the receipt just like this lavender like coffee stuff I bought like a while ago. Like I'm just saying like I have a bunch of like some stuff that's like unrelated, you know? And >> what I'm looking for is the stuff that they're describing. >> Ma'am. Ma'am. No, I'm just driving. >> No, I'm just saying like >> like I said, they have a camera. >> Yeah. >> That would see specifically what we're talking about. >> We're not going to say randomly there's things in here that, like you said, have no relation to what we're talking about. >> We're going to disregard those things. >> Say you have like a TV in the background. They're not saying a TV was stolen from >> Yeah. We're not going to be like, "Oh, well there's a TV here." It doesn't work. >> Like, is this your TV? No. They didn't tell me they're missing a TV, so I'm not going to bring it up. Yeah. >> Let me um let me check on him real quick. He's been back there for a little while. >> I checked on him a little bit ago. >> I'm going see if he wants. >> Okay. Yeah. >> Oh, do you have water? Oh, I have a >> Oh, wait. Is the Oh, no. That's That's from earlier. But see, like I don't know. That's like Target. Target. Where are you dig? >> See, here's a Target bag right here. Trash, though. >> That's fine. We real quick, just stop digging through the car. >> Okay, >> just just just stop. >> Well, you Okay. >> It's just a safety thing. I'm not >> Oh, okay. I just don't want you dig >> What do you mean? >> Is that No, I just like I want you guys to >> just just stop touching the car. You're killing me. >> I want you to like this stuff's like trash. Okay. Like look. >> If it's trash, it's trash. I'm not worried about it, ma'am. Okay, I'm >> out of the car, please. I've asked you like three times. >> I know. I'm just >> I'm not trying to be rude, but like it shouldn't, you know. >> Um, can I pull the cord like it's just >> You need your phone charger? Yeah, >> that's fine. >> Maybe I have >> Hello. Hello. Hey, can um can somebody come? It's like near wall it's near Walgreens. We're like on the same road as Walgreens. Like I told you that. >> Is that your in-laws? >> Where's courthouse? >> Towards the courthouse. >> Flashy lights. Red and blue ones. >> No, like No, it's just No, there's no car accident, John. It's just a misunderstanding. like um like I was coming out of the store, they saw something like I stopped with a lady. >> You want me to talk to tell them where you're at? >> Yeah. Well, I mean we're just you just keep going past the >> west about a mile >> past the Walgreens if the Walgreens is on your right. >> Hello. >> Hello. >> Come on back. >> Yeah, you just keep going like instead of just >> past Yeah, just past Walgreens. The intersection is 100 and Brierwood. >> The intersection is 100 and what? >> It's right there. Brierwood. >> Brierwood. You'll see. You'll see the flashing lights once you if you know Walgreens is on your right. You just keep going. It's right there. >> Drive towards Ben. >> What do you think? Like honestly at this point, what do you think? >> What do I think? >> Here's what I transparent with you, right? >> Yeah. >> Full transparency. You went in there and you're noodle shopping. We call it just call it that noodle. And it's just just we're coining a new phrase today. >> No, but it is like I'm always that's way more stuff than I'm going to get. >> Put something in the container. >> I But I had it went out to get the card. So like technically, you know, but and then I brought it back in. So, right here here's what here's what here's my thing, right? Just let me let me finish my thing. You asked me for my opinion. Let me do my thing. Sorry. >> All right. You went in the store, you did your thing, moved a lot of items around in a manner that you even you're saying is suspicious. >> Well, yeah, probably. Like, who does that? I mean, I always do that, right? >> But I mean, I always do it, but >> Right. So, like, you know, given that the target loss prevention officers see that activity, right? It hits on their radar. They're like, "Okay, now I have to, you know, observe this person to ensure that they're not, you know, taken away from their product in a criminal manner, right? They see that you're saying you, you know, we're saying that there's items in here that are in your possession that have been paid for. So, at that point, right, we have to investigate and determine is it a criminal act? Is it not a criminal act?" Only way for us to do that is to really watch through the entire camera, verify where things are and where they aren't, and then make a determination based off that. Just talking to you, it sounds like a lot of it was, you know, was a possible mistake, but we don't know. How am I supposed to say that without seeing your activity in the store? That's just what you're telling. >> So, it would be really hard for me to give you a complete accurate answer. >> I gave them my ID. Like, I gave them my driver's license. >> You have to give them an ID just to buy a lighter. Did you know that? >> No. >> Yeah. So, if you go through selfch checkout, there are times you have to give them your ID for just to buy a lighter. I mean, that doesn't necessarily >> It's like if I was trying to be sneaky, why would I give them my driver's license with my ID so that they can identify me, you know? It's like here's my license, like identify me. And if the lady saw that in there, like why wouldn't she say something? >> Also, like you have to understand real quick, you have to understand like you're going to a selfch checkout line, right? Where you're putting yourself now at a possibility where you're not going to scan items or you will scan whatever that case may be. You're putting yourself in a situation, especially knowing that you have a She was helping me with it. >> Okay. No, I don't I can't speak for that situation. All I can speak for is what you're telling me, right? I I don't know. I don't know how that worked out. Or maybe she missed it. We're all human beings. You know, mistakes are made. >> Yeah. >> Like you're trying to say right now, you're saying this is a misunderstanding and or a mistake. >> We We can't verify that either way just based off of your conversation with with you. We have to do our due diligence and talk to them. I can't speak for what they're going to do or what's going to happen because I I honestly have no idea because I can only go off of what you're telling me, what I can see here, you know, and and that's all I got. I I'm not the deputy that's over there talking to the target loss prevention officer. So, it's extremely hard for me to give you a full like this is what's going to happen situation cuz I would need to know the entire scope of the like cuz if I could see the the video footage or see your activity in the store and see how you were doing this or that, I could probably give you a more clear answer. You know, I can only go off of what you're telling me, right? Because a lot of times, and I'm not saying you're lying or anything like that, people tell me something and whether they meant it a certain way or misconr >> No, they are. >> No, I know. I have I told you guys that earlier. I have other things like that were not even related. Like I like craft stuff. That's why I came in to get certain things. Okay. >> That's why I said like just hold off on that just because like he probably has stuff like even just right here in the door. Like I've got receipts from like everything in here, but I'm just saying like I just didn't want, you know what I mean? Because like there was stuff that I was going to return. >> Um, it depends what it is. If it's some crafting stuff. Yeah, because nothing nothing from the store like Okay. Just really nothing from the store or like that box thing got opened. Like nothing in here got opened by the time I mean honestly there was zero time. I don't know who pulled us over. Was it you? >> That was Doug. >> Okay. like literally pulled out and was pulled over. Like there wasn't even time to try to >> and and the cop would have said like what are you doing? You were just digging in them bags, you know? Like >> so the stuff that's in the car was being returned. um some of it. Like I mean I'm not saying all of it like I'm like had the intentions like we were going to return this thing but and then I was like oh no that's from the where's I have a cureig thingy whatever like a disposable curig thing but yeah just like some crafting stuff like I'm a crafter like to be fair >> which is fine like I said >> yeah like okay to be fair >> and I'm just I'm I just got here so I'm trying to figure out what's going on. Listen, I'm just like a little bit like obviously like worked up about it, but um let me just give you real quick. So, I had those items in my in my hand and >> Oh, I think I was left. >> Yeah. Left the store to go get the card from him >> as I asked the one guy to like hold like can I just put my basket here cuz I didn't want them to put stuff like take it and put it away. >> And then um even for the lady like when I was coming out >> Sorry, sorry to interrupt you. Which lady was it? Um, okay. So, there was a bigger like a like a little bit heavier set. This is what upsets me about that brown thing. Okay. >> What was her hair color? >> Uh, this was black, right? And >> white lady. Black lady. >> White lady with black hair, right? In a pony. But what? She helped me with almost everything that I rang up because like these were a special ring up. You know what I mean? Because it has two grapefruits and the um oranges. Then uh Oh, then this like I had to get my physical driver's license. Yeah, cuz it's Yeah, I know. That's so weird. But >> like now I I thought like maybe it was because of like >> No, they're weird. Some of the weird products are >> I mean I'm glad to know that cuz I have two kids. >> Even like lighters sometimes they have you have to >> That's what he did about the lighters. But like um so like if I was really trying, you know what I mean? Like why would I give them my driver's license? You know what I'm saying? Like driver's license and what else? Like >> the lady that helped you, she was at like the registers. >> Yeah. But then but then the the uh when I was like coming out Yeah. the lady helped me bring the stuff up. I didn't even know that brown thing like even was in there. He told me um that and then um as I'm leaving the store, the lady's like this. She's like the lady goes uh excuse me. This is loss prevention. Can you stop? And then I'm like yeah. I'm like can you come with me? Like you know what I mean real quick so that like I have to get my kids like can I just put my stuff down tell him cuz he doesn't drive. I was driving, right? >> But we had to pick my kids up at the bus stop and I was like, "Um, can you please just give me a minute? Like, I promise you I will not leave. Like, I will be right back." He leaves to go get the kids. >> And then, um, hold on. I need a sip of my drink. And then he leaves to go get the kids. And then she's like, "Wait a second." She was like, >> "I need the bag." Right. >> Right. >> So, I freaking chase him down. I chase him down to get the um the bags and then he takes off. >> Okay. Well, that's a process here. And that I know he just asked about you um or asked about that patch. There's a patch in there like it looks similar to it's in the back seat. It's okay. >> Yeah. >> She asked me to Oh, sorry. She asked me to grab the >> No, no, no. It's okay. You don't have to grab it. No. I'm just saying that patch that's in there um it's the same as those ones back there. >> Okay. >> Um was that something that you grabbed and >> No, because that that box didn't even get open. So those are things prior. Like I buy like I like patches. I probably have some on the ear. >> You're good. You're good. >> No, I'm saying um I have a bunch of receipts right here. >> Yes, >> there's probably some on here. A lot of crafting stuff. Like that's why I said totally unrelated. I didn't even care if they um >> Is this everything that you tried to purchase? Cuz again, like I said, >> I did purchase all those things. >> This was everything that you purchased? >> Yeah, we just had a bunch like had stuff in the car because I was going to return stuff >> and the other Target bags that are back there. Were they from like previous purchases or >> Yeah, that's nothing. That's just my stuff from today. >> Okay. Yeah, I guess we're just waiting on you know the officers over there. >> And like no offense, but like that kind of doesn't even make sense. Like why would I just keep a couple patches and then not you know I'm just saying >> I'm not saying you but people do do strange things like that. They'll take something. >> It doesn't make sense. >> I didn't even have time to do that. Hello. >> Yeah. Just straight just straight and then he'll run into it. Did Did you see my Texas? Okay. Look at like wow. Hi. Is that the lady that I stopped for? >> No. >> Oh, >> no. It's it's it's a ride along. >> Oh, okay. I was going to say she looks familiar. Like similar to that lady, though. >> Definitely doesn't work at Oregon. >> So, I mean, as of but like to be fair, like if that lady that was helping me ring stuff up like like why didn't you know what I mean? Why didn't she say something? >> Yeah. But >> you as a as a shopper and as an adult, can we be fair? >> Yeah. are responsible for what you taken care of. >> Not Target. >> I mean, but I did like the things that I had. I >> the >> It sounds like you shop a lot. >> Yeah. I'm like, >> you should know that you stuff before you leave the store. >> No, no, no, no. But I was just like literally running to the car to get the car. >> Do they know that? >> Well, I didn't even know I had it in my hand, honestly. So if I have a >> No, but I I mean I came back >> me not being a cop. If I have a pile of drugs pile of drugs, >> I go right by him. I didn't know I had it in my hand. Is that Is that an excuse? >> It's just kind of an analogy. >> Yeah, >> it's an extreme analogy, but it's >> it's a bit of a extreme analogy, but same I'm just saying like I had the couple >> So like real quick, right? I get what you're saying. We get I understand what you're saying. There's a lot of lot lot of thoughts going on, right? But but either way, right? >> Ignorance of a situation or how you're handling it isn't always necessarily an excuse for the actions that we take. Correct. >> But but like if I was trying to conceal something like would I give them my driver's license with all my >> We've been over that. But like I told you, like >> like, oh, here I'm shoplifting. This is where this is my name and my address. Like come get me. You know, >> like I would have never stopped. Like I stopped her and I dumped myself out. >> Delta 223 flag work. >> So what's what's happening? >> All right, here's what's happening right now. We are standing here waiting for the people who are actually working to come over here and finish. That's the most raw >> working >> like way off. >> We're just we're just standing here kind of sitting with you like not doing anything. They'll do whatever they got to do and then they'll come over here and explain whatever >> the people who are conducting that part of the investigation. >> What did the people say at Target like >> that you walked out with that family to them? >> But they're clarifying what they want to do with it. >> Can you can you please tell them like I have small children? Like >> I can't persuade them one way or the other. >> No, I'm just saying can you say like >> that would be a form of persuasion. No, I >> Okay, I understand you're very upset about this. I get it, but going in circles isn't going to help anything, unfortunately. >> Is there other things that they can do? >> Like what? >> Target? >> Yeah. >> In like reference to what the situation? >> Yeah. >> I mean, they trespass. >> Yeah. There's there's trust. They have the option to just trespass you and and kind of just say, "Hey, don't ever come back as long as they retrieve their stuff." You know what I mean? That was a must. >> You know what I mean? That's their choice. I don't know. I can't speak for >> target the company. >> Yeah. >> But yeah, >> I at least like to stretch my leg. >> Yeah. You know, >> I said this could have been over a while ago. >> Yeah. >> But >> kind of weird status check. >> Well, it kind of is yet. >> No. >> No. I know he's on his way. She's called him like 20 times. >> They have a new Mustang. >> A new Mustang. We saw a Mustang drive by. >> What color was it? >> Like a bluish bluish teal. >> Dark blue. >> Oh, that was dark blue. >> Bluish teal. Who's this? Is it? >> She taking this. >> Well, so it's shift change, so like cut it in half and that's actually how many people are here. We're just We're making the attempt to go home. It's just, you know, it's been a kind of a struggle. >> Me, too. >> Yeah. No, I get it. I I'm I'm right there with you. >> Yeah, I feel that. >> We were supposed two are supposed to be off at 6:00. The other ones are just >> What time is it? >> It's past 6, >> is it? I was I had like I had trivia planned at 7:00. >> What the hell? >> Not tonight. >> Not tonight. I guess I have to cancel those plans. >> Quiz. >> No, I got a phone call. >> I got a 221 status check. >> Give me I gota make a quick phone call. >> No. like a lot of this stuff like my craft stuff or whatever. Um we can probably pull that history up like if I don't have the receipt to prove that like you know what I mean it was already purchased because the like even just right now I know like he's got reasonable doubt or whatever it's called. >> Reasonable doubt would be the other way and that's also in courts. >> Suspicion. >> Reasonable suspicion is what gives us the ability to stop people. >> You're looking for probable cause. >> We're getting close not there yet. problems or whatever, but really like >> Yeah, >> because he's not even coming around the car to say like, "Look, there's more stuff over here." Like, you know, >> can you ask him to at least come show him that like eventually >> he's he's coming over to talk. >> He did the same thing I did. They'll loop around. >> So, what like you guys were talking >> what? Like did he say like what Target like said or anything >> to me? No. I was on the phone with somebody else. >> He'll come over. I >> can wait but he's not >> I He will just relax. You're worked up. Just give it a minute. I promise. >> You need to take a deep breath. >> I know. But I just before he makes like I can tell he's making a decision in his head. And >> he's not making a decision in his head. It takes a lot more than just a decision. >> Anxiety and the more anxious he will get. >> I'm I mean I take the medication for that. But but can you just ask him to >> when he I I promise you he'll come talk to you before anything is done. >> I promise >> before it's done, but I don't want his mind to be made up. >> Okay. So we don't just make our mind up without knowing the whole story. So >> So actually I'm Deputy Stanford Sheriff's Office. just real quick before you like make um like a decision in your head like cuz um I know that we already had other stuff in the car and stuff, >> but like you can put your flashlight over here like there's stuff. >> It's fine. >> But you didn't say I'm just saying like that's from Target that I was going to return. I'm just saying there's stuff all over that. >> All right. But before I ask you anything, I just have to advise you your rights. Okay. Obviously, you're not in handcuffs, right? >> Before I ask you any questions, >> I have to advise you what your rights are. Okay. All right. So, you have the right to remain silent. Do you understand these rights since I've read read them to you? >> I need a yes or no. Okay. >> Yes. Okay. So, walk me through your trip to Target. So, >> you went to Target. >> So, let me just start off by saying like I shop like a crazy person like always. Okay. Like I always have way more stuff. >> So, the reason I'm here today is because is whatever just happened up there. So, like I don't know if this is going to get me in trouble, more trouble or or something, but like this stuff that like was in the bucket or whatever, like I physically actually had that in my hand. Like I had a basket >> and I had to go out and get the card. >> Like he was in the car. I had to get the credit card, >> pocket card. >> And um like I had stuff in my hand and I asked the guy, I didn't like realize it, but I asked the guy, I was like, "Hey, can you watch my basket?" Cuz I didn't want them to to pick it up and put stuff away. You know what I mean? Yeah. Like thinking it's like somebody abandoned it. So I was like, "Hey, can you please um >> watch this basket? I'll be right back." And like I didn't even realize it cuz I had my phone in my hand like this and I had some of the patches already and like ran out to the car. Um >> okay. >> Got the card, came back into the store, you know, grabbed my basket, like went about. Now like he always ends up like freaking out like why do you have so much stuff? because like I don't know what I'm going to put back, what I'm not going to put back yet, you know, and like >> So I watched the video from around the store. >> Wait, so you can see me like just I'm like putting stuff back. >> So I see you you're kneeling down in an aisle and you put stuff in that little container. What was the reason of putting that stuff in the container when you had a basket? >> Um, honestly. >> Yeah, honesty is the best thing. >> Okay. Like because I didn't know like at that certain point because John, like I said, there's my in-laws. Um, like I said, like freaks out. Like I buy a like a lot of crafting stuff, like a lot of like whatever. And I just I was like this and I'm like, "All right, so I'm gonna get these. This is like me." Okay. Like I'm going to get these. >> All right. And then this like this is how I shot. And then like I'll put like, you know, if if I'm like, "All right, doing trying to do the math or something." I put some like I'll you know, and I feel bad that I put stuff. >> Well, I see. You put it in there and then you close the lid. >> Yeah. And then did I >> Yeah. Yeah. You put it in there. That's what the video showed. >> That's what I saw on there. But you put stuff in there out of the basket. You close the lid and then you continue on doing whatever you're doing. You put the ice cream on the ground upside down next to it as you were putting stuff in there. Um, >> and then in the video when you're checking out, you scan the whole container and put it over here. Is there a reason why you didn't take anything out of the container when you were checking out? >> No. >> No. But does that say Hold on. Does that say um anything about or not say? Does this show that brown thing? >> What brown thing? >> Because honestly, like I wasn't thinking about it cuz I had to run over and swap the thing. I got oranges. I had to swap stuff out and I don't really think I was thinking about it because no offense >> Target has really good cameras. >> No, no, no. I'm not. They show everything from every angle. >> Yeah. I'm not even like >> listen like if I did that like I did that like but I it wasn't like a uh what am I saying? Like no offense. I mean it was like a couple dollar items. Like it's just like I don't I don't know why I did that to tell you. >> Well, we we still have to pay for stuff though. >> No. Whether it be a quarter or $200. >> No, I don't mean it like that, sir. I'm just saying like cuz I don't I don't really know. >> When the girl caught you at the door and why did you come back to the office with her? >> And I So why didn't you just go back to the office with her? >> Did you see that video? I did. >> Well, so my kids are getting off the bus like off the bus. We like were already running late. So he doesn't have his license. I drove. I'm like, "Okay, listen." I So I stop I stop right there. Okay. And she says like something concealed >> and I'm like here. Like >> whatever. Did you see the video? Like I literally stopped. I'm like done. I'm like do like can you just do whatever you need like whatever you think. >> And then you you put the bags in the car >> and then I was like yeah >> and then you went to go back and talk to her. >> Well so hold on. This is what I said to her. I was like can I just go like you know get my kids and stuff and I will come right back and talk to you like but I stopped right as soon as she said that. >> Yeah. But after the bags were in the car and you guys were conversing again right after that already like >> So she asked you to go get the bags out of the car and then >> you got in the car and left. No, I was I swear to God I wasn't trying to leave. He literally just started driving. >> You might not have tried been leaving, but but you did leave >> because he was furious. Yeah, he pulled off and that's why we got pulled over actually because I was like stop like at coming out, you know, like uh when you're coming out of that like before Walgreens. >> Yeah. >> You know what I mean? That turn right there where you got to go right to the light right there. I was like getting out of the car with the bags to go back. Like I swear to God like like listen I had given them sorry my mouth is so dry I need water. >> How'd you guys get down there? Where do you live at? >> Huh? We live that way but he that's the way to come out. You know what I mean? Or we went >> How'd you come all the way this way and then make a U-turn over here? >> The cops What do you mean the cop is the one who >> Yeah. >> And there was >> Yeah. You guys were going westbound and did a U-turn, right? >> Yeah. Well, >> you going this way and you live that way? I've >> going that way and then you did a U-turn to go that way. >> Because well, I was trying to get out of the car at that light. Do you understand? >> Yeah, that light's way over there. Why'd you guys come this way? >> And then bust and he couldn't he couldn't have turned. You know what I mean? And then as soon as like I was like, I'm getting I stopped. He was like, Ashley, like we have to go get the kids. And then I'm like >> And I was like getting out of the car. And I think that's why we got pulled over because like of all like the commotion right there, like me trying to get out of the car. And then um I don't know, we got lit up. We got lit up and then like that's that's what happened. Um and >> so you got pulled over cuz your vehicle matched the description that Target gave us. That's why you got pulled over. >> Well, that was fast. I didn't think that was why we were getting pulled over. I thought we were getting pulled over trying to get out. >> Once you pass all points of sale with stuff that's not paid for, it becomes an issue. >> I But I stopped and dumped out my stuff for her. But you still have other stuff here that wasn't paid for that they documented. We see it on the video. This >> Yeah, but I >> this Well, you have that glass thing in there or whatever. Plastic the jar. >> Yeah, >> you I think you scanned that and something else. But you didn't scan that and you put it in the basket in the bag. >> I mean, to be fair at the register, was there not a lot going on though? Like the lady was helping me? Like it wasn't >> That's why you do things one at a time. I don't know. >> Yeah, I know. And like I know I mean I guess I know better but I like was in a roy was freaking out already >> because I had to stop and get my hatchet and my baby turtle stuff. Like I promise you like a couple years ago like I got in trouble for like um like something petty. Well that's literally was a thing petty theft or whatever. Well, like believe you me, like I learned my lesson >> from that like and like but yeah, so I'm not going to lie. Like it doesn't really particularly make sense. I don't know why I would have done that like that. >> All right. >> I don't like I honestly it's >> just an accident. You just didn't mean to. >> Yeah. I like intentionally. >> Okay. >> Just only because like I was going through this stuff. So I don't know why I would have just cuz the things are like a dollar. So we have a we have a credit card over there. Mhm. >> You know, so I I I can't answer that because I don't I don't really know what >> All right, hang out with Deputy Slowbomb for a minute. Okay. >> Yeah. >> Hey, just be careful getting out. >> Hi. How you doing? >> Hello. Good. How's it going? >> Good. >> You're a dad? >> I'm John. I'm a dad. the short and skinny the situation is >> here. Do you want to go into the grass a little bit more? >> Oh, okay. >> So, basically Ashley looks like she removed some items that she didn't pay for from Target. >> Okay. >> Um and then took off after she dumped some stuff on the ground in front of loss prevention officers and then >> hauled butt this way with him. Your son? >> Yeah, my son. >> Yeah. He's currently detained in the back of one of our patrol vehicles cuz he was driving and he doesn't have a license. Okay. >> Um, right now they're doing an interview with her. >> Okay. >> Um, are you the registered owner of the car? >> Yes. Well, >> is it your wife or you? >> It's me and the wife went up there and bought it. She >> put her name. So, it's both of us. >> Gotcha. So, we're trying to verify whether there's still stolen items in said car. >> Okay. And she obviously said to wait for y'all to get here before we ask like, you know, if we would be allowed to just make sure that there's no more stolen items in the car or like items that belong to Target inside of said car. Um so that's kind of where you come in. We have to, you know, get your permission to do all that. >> She was waiting for your permission since you're the one who owns it. >> Yeah. So, um and that's kind of where we're at right now. They're currently conducting an interview with her because, you know, obviously she had items in her possession that weren't paid for that belong from Target after she got stopped by a loss prevention officer and she had to leave the she had to leave the store. So, >> did he get in an accident? >> No. >> No, I think Are you No, the front of the car's fine. >> Okay. >> That's what it looks like to me. It was >> about that. >> What's that? >> The little >> Oh, no. That was >> Yeah. No, the No, the Taho. It wasn't an accident like with us or anything like that. >> Oh, okay. There was a traffic stop. They pulled over. Nobody got hurt. Everybody's okay. >> Cuz she told me that the >> So, I didn't know what happened. >> Understandable. No, there was no accident. >> It was a situation in Target. No, it was a traffic stop out here and an interview. Okay. What you're doing is looking for >> We're trying to determine if there's still more items cuz they can't there's still items that they can't like account for >> that she put in like the cart and had with her. >> So, we're trying to verif like trying to see like is there more stuff that she still had in the car. That's kind of what we're >> right. Okay. I understand that. And like I said, we unless we have, you know, search warrants and stuff like that or, you know, probable cause to just dig through a car, we're not going to violate people's rights today and all that good stuff. >> We're just trying to verify is there anything else inside the car that is a stolen property from Target. >> She says there's not. She says the bags that are in there are previous purchases that she has receipts for. Um, but >> but yeah, we obviously can't determine that until Right. >> I understand what you're saying. So, >> but I don't know what's in it. That's >> It's a fair point. I don't either. >> This question real quick. >> Do you have a concern or anything like that that there is something else inside of that car that is >> technically illegal that would have nothing to do with what we're here for? >> I don't know. That's the thing. I don't know what they did. >> I got you. >> As for So, as far as what as far as what we're investigating solely, right, is what I've explained to you. I'm 40 years white. >> Yeah, absolutely. >> I got you. >> Okay. Thank you. >> So, like I said, I'm 100% transparency. All we're investigating as of right now >> is just a shoplifting from Target, right? >> That's what we got right now. And then obviously your son not having a license and operating a motor vehicle on a public roadway, >> right? >> So, I mean, that's also another hurdle we're have to overcome. >> Um, but that's mainly where we're at with that right now. He's just trying to verify is there anything else >> that could be property that belongs to the business department. >> That's what we're trying to verify. >> Like I said, we don't we're not >> push our way into the car or anything like that. We can >> you know, she's been pretty >> from what it seems like the most part been honest with us. Other things, you know, >> they've been pretty >> Yeah, they've been cooperative. Like, you know, >> he's been >> he's been super chill, super cooperative. like he hasn't given us any issues or anything like that. Um he understands he made a mistake by driving and all that other stuff. Um like I said, we're just trying to we're just trying to figure out, you know, is there anything else left inside this vehicle that belongs to them? >> Mhm. >> It's nothing like huge. I don't think it's still like a TV or a a diamond necklace or, you know, giant vault filled with cash. You know what I mean? It'd be weird if we found like a giant vault filled with cash in there, but you know, >> I digress. >> So, let me talk to you. >> Yeah. You mean you could talk to him if you look? Yeah. >> Uh he's in the >> He's in my car. >> He's still in your car. Okay. >> I I realized that a couple years ago I had it. >> Yeah. >> Oh, sir. Sir. Sorry. >> Can I get Can I just grab grab what I >> We'll get whatever you need. >> Wait, but I swear to >> So >> it was >> being placed under arrest for petty theft. >> Why? But >> because you went past the all points of sale without paying for the stuff >> and the loss prevention told you to come back and you got in the car and left. You did. Ultimately you got in the car and left. Okay. >> Please. >> That's why we're at where we are right now. >> There's >> Are those too tight? >> Officer. Officer, >> are those too tight? Please tell me there's still some good left in the system. >> I did. >> Target wants to pursue charges on the items that were stolen. >> I need you to turn around. >> It doesn't matter how much it was. >> But it wasn't an accident. >> It was literally >> So if it was an accident or not, your criminal history shows multiple convictions for theft before. >> This is another so many years ago. >> It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter how many. What do you need out of the car? >> Hold on. >> So do you don't keep your hands out of your pockets. Well, I need to get in the pockets. >> We'll get it. >> What do you need out of the car? You need your purse? >> We'll grab that. I need >> You have your phone ID card? >> I don't have any. >> I know. >> So, don't put your hands in your pocket. >> Why? But like, why why are >> I don't know if you have weapons on. >> I'm saying, but I'm saying just because of my record, I really >> So, if you have two or more convictions of theft, doesn't matter when or where. >> What? >> So, I have I have criminal history. I have one >> Pennsylvania, New York New York, New Jersey. I've never I've never gotten in trouble. >> That's all your information. >> What are you talking about? >> So, we're going to go over here. >> You're not going. >> But then, can you guys please help? >> You're making this work. >> Wait, can you please help me? >> What do you need? >> This is not my phone. >> Hold on. We're going over here. >> This isn't my stuff. >> All right, walk. >> Wait, can I walk? >> Wait, please. I swear to God, I'm not trying to be rude. >> You're going to catch a resisting charge if you don't stop. >> Give him his phone. So, we'll deal with that. >> Here, can you Yes, we will get it. >> No. Why? Why? >> Listen to what I'm telling you or you're going to get a resistance charge. >> Why are you doing that? >> I'm doing my job. >> No. >> What? >> You're doing your job. >> I am. >> You know as well as I do, guys. I was not intentionally doing anything. >> I don't know anything. >> You watch. >> I know what the video says. Lean up against the car. Okay. >> Can you take that out? I will grab it. Yes, I >> 10 for my second says the traffic stop. >> Can you Can I not please? >> We'll get to that. >> Can I please? >> Now lean up against the vehicle with your chest. >> Spread your feet apart. Do you have anything on you? Narcotics, needles, weapons, nothing anybody's going to get poked on. Is that a nope? All right. All right. I tell everybody if anything's found at the jail, it's introduction of contraband and it's a felony. >> You said this is his phone. That's his phone. You said >> it's right there. Can I have that? >> What's that? This. >> The tissue. Need to wake her nose. Good. No. >> I don't know if you've ever been searched before. It is going to get a little uncomfortable. I apologize. It's just as uncomfortable for me as it is for you. So, just bear with me. >> Can I No. Can I please talk to them? >> Who? Target? >> Yeah. Like, >> no. They want to pursue charges. >> Yeah, but I didn't like I don't have >> it. It doesn't matter if it was intentional or not. You passed all points of sale with merchandise that wasn't paid for. When the loss prevention officer told you to come, you ultimately got in the car and left. >> Again, this is going to get uncomfy. >> It could have been squashed maybe if you stayed there. >> What? >> It could have been squashed maybe if you stayed there. >> No, but I did I literally opened everything up right there. >> Okay, those are his. >> I got you. Again, like I said, it is uncomfortable. I do apologize, but we're meant to be comfy. >> So, if you have any questions, just ask. >> Can I Can I please just use my phone? Like, >> please. >> We'll let you do it >> just one time. >> Once once we get you in the car, I'll let you do it. >> Just now. Do you want this stuff in your purse? >> Um, I mean, I don't need to take my purse with me, but >> Well, I could stick this stuff in your purse. This will get thrown away at the jail. >> Would we be able to charge my phone? >> What do you have? >> Just um like a C. It's a C cord. >> I got one of them. >> Again, we're going to get a little intimate. I apologize. >> You know where people hide guns at? They hide them in their crotch. >> That's why we get so close. >> Have you ever been um searched before? Because again, it is very uncomfortable. I like to warn everybody. Okay. Is there anything that I might have missed on you? Do you mind just slipping off your shoes real fast? I'll help you if you need it. >> Please, sir. Like, so can I can I please talk to my father-in-law? >> Yeah, once once we get done with this, I'll let you talk to him. >> Like, why? Like, I'm so close. Like, I'm about to be done in one week. If you want to put your shoes back on. >> Would you like to put your shoes back on? >> All right. Have a seat in there. See, there's nothing in there. >> Can Can you get his hoodie for me? >> So, they're going to change you out when we get to the jail. Okay. >> Is there Is there a bail? Is there >> They'll let you know what that is at the jail. I don't have that information. >> Please, please. >> Yeah, I'll go get him. and her card. >> So before we leave, this has to go in there unless you want to throw them away when we get to the jail. >> But that's his phone. >> Do you want your shoes with you? Well, you're going to need them. >> So I'm slide in there. Put your feet in there. >> I'm going to stick these different things. Okay. >> Actually, I'm going to put these up front. I'll give them to them. >> So this is his phone, you sent? >> Yeah. >> Okay. this back to him. >> Yeah. >> Okay. I know that sounds silly, but >> And my phone has like a a magnet thing on the >> Okay. So, is your phone in your car or in your purse? >> What >> is your phone in your car or in the purse? >> In my in my purse. >> Okay. And it's okay if I grab it for you? >> Yeah. And ask him if if I can have his hoodie like >> um I just like my kids. So, I'll go grab your cell phone and I'll ask him for the hood. Anything else? >> Is there a bail? >> What's that? >> Is there a bail? Like, >> they'll they'll let you know at the jail. I don't know what that is. I can't answer it. >> What do you mean? Like >> like I don't know that information off the top of my head. I >> you guys that give the bail? >> No, it's it's the jail. We're totally like we all work for the sheriff's office, but that's a totally different entity. I take you to the jail. They deal with everything on that side with the courts and stuff. Can you please like confirmed to him that like it was literally like up like two like a dollar item like is not >> So it was $20 allgether. That little bowl was $16 and something. >> What? Like I don't >> I don't know >> why. But the lady helped me ring that stuff up. If she stole it, why? Like why wouldn't she? She might have seen him ring stuff up, but she didn't see all of it. >> But but she saw it because >> we're human beings and we miss stuff. >> No, she saw it because she's the one who said it to the um when he was on the phone. >> So when we're watching video, we see more stuff than we missed a lot of times. Just like I can look here and I can't tell you everything that's laying on the ground just by >> glancing. They didn't even get a chance to watch the video yet. >> No, I watched it. >> No, I was like the lady >> the lady didn't watch it at that point. And this like just happened and I swear to God like I stopped and I was like let me just >> So there's more than just that one person that's helping you out watching things. >> Yeah. Oh, I know. >> No, I know. >> Somebody's watching surveillance cameras. Somebody's watching you from over here. Somebody's watching from over there. >> That's a whole room. Like I know that. Like listen, I'm like literally supposed to be done my probation. I had like community >> How long have you been on probation? >> Like 3 years. Like I had community control. >> Is it out of Florida or out of >> No, here. Like I was did the house arrest thing and that was for like um >> what was that for? >> Freaking like a case of soda and like something else like a skip scan. Um and they gave me like a patty in it cuz I had got in trouble before. >> You want more? >> Yeah. >> Why? >> This is your card. >> Does it have No, >> this was what was in >> That's not the one that works. It's got a like a like a pop out in the on the back. >> Was that a popsocket? >> Is that what it is? >> Yeah. Like, >> can you please ask them not to write it write in the ticket though? Like, can I take the ticket? Can you give me an extra ticket? Because >> what? What do you mean? >> Okay, go ahead. >> Ticket for what? >> I I don't I didn't know that they were going to give him a ticket or something. I don't know. Like, >> well, if he was doing if he was doing something to get a ticket, he would be the one getting a ticket. >> OB, especially if we saw something. >> So, can can they pull the video from right like at Walgreens when I was trying to get out of the car? Like, >> it doesn't matter. You still >> No, but I feel like that will help like >> No, I mean, you still passed all >> You passed all the registers and exited the store at that point. >> Yeah, but but I stopped with the lady and I dumped Did Did you see that part? Yeah, but you still had other stuff in the car that they needed to see and you left >> in the car. But no, he was taking off and I flagged the car down. Did you see that? Like I had to run. >> You didn't have to get in the car. >> She wanted the stuff. >> Yeah, but you didn't have to get in the car and leave with him, did you? >> No. Did you see? Like I literally >> We could have dealt with that separately. >> Yeah, but he was b like pulling I told him to stop. >> So it's not the end of the world. >> Well, it is. That's why That's why we go to court. >> But I was like a week. >> We give our side in front of the judge and >> like a week a week shy. >> Can we please go talk to me? He might not come over here and talk to me. Please. He's so mad. >> Talk to who? >> My father-in-law. >> Yeah, I'll get him. Here. Can you take one more of these? I'm going to go put it in your purse. >> You good right here? >> Yeah. >> Yes, sir. >> Mute for discussion. Then I'd have to take him up there and sit with her. So there's >> DMV is only like right there. And I'm pretty sure there's a tax collector's office down. >> Yeah, there is. There's one down. >> Hold. I think you might have to go to the DMV. >> Should should I go home and call this and then uh I'll have to come up and get him out of there. >> I would wait like an hour cuz she So basically what has to happen is like we have to type out like an arrest affidavit. Has to get sent to a supervisor. supervisor's got to approve it. It's basically like the probable cause statement saying like this time this date and time we observe this crime and you know did this action and another >> when all that goes through then you can >> yeah and then that that gets sent up you know supervisor approves it we print it off and then you're completely booked in at that point you get the bond and then the bond you know get kicked out. It shouldn't take that long. It's it's going to be very short. Hey, you know no license, you know what I mean? It's not it's not it's not the super complicated crime. >> Sorry for messing up your quiz though, man. Hey, you know, life happens. I did sign up due to the job site. I did uh >> delays are expected. >> Let him stay out. Make sure things get done right. So, >> you ready? >> Yep. >> Anything you need anything from dad before you go or question? >> Just uh I'll try to call you or you can just call up. >> Can you Yeah, for you. >> I'm going to slide these up. >> Yeah, that's fine. >> Cuz I'm going to have to put these ones on before I take those ones off. Or actually, they're going in the front anyway. Um Never mind. >> So if she wants to talk to you, if you're good with that. >> Yeah, >> red tag it. It's not on the road. >> You can just move it. >> Okay. They shouldn't hurt as much because you're not sitting there. >> They're great. Thank you. >> Here my >> It'll be in a charger back. >> Yeah, we're going to go back there. Okay, that's fine. Just dead. >> It's not blowing very hard, is it? >> I thought he wasn't getting a ticket. >> That's not mine. I don't know what's going on. dispatch has been called. >> But I'm guessing knowing he didn't have a license and driving. >> Yeah, but he was it was my fault because none of that >> doesn't matter. We're all adults, right? Our decisions are on us at the end of the day. But your phone's charging. It's turning on. >> Thank you. >> Do they ever let anybody out? >> Who's that? the um like at the jail >> like bond out. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. >> With like with the probation like >> I don't know. >> I don't deal with that a whole lot. >> Am I going to go to Valuchia? >> No. It happened here. >> Yeah. But last time I got taken to Valuchia. >> Was it a warrant or something out of Valuchia County? Maybe >> that would be the only reason you would go to a different county from here. You know I can see you, right? >> Yeah. I'm trying to >> take your hand out of your pants. >> What? >> Take your hand out of your pants. >> My hands are right here. >> Yeah. Stop digging around. I'm trying to blow my nose. >> So, I'm going to ask you one last time. Is there anything on or in your person? >> No. I'm literally trying to blow my nose. These cuffs are cut like cutting in my hand. >> Am I going to get to talk to him? Am I going to get to talk to him? >> Hold on. You want to roll your back window down for a minute? >> Can you hear me? >> I'm so sorry. Can you call me? Can you call my PO and say like that it was a mistake? Like it was just a literal couple dollar thing. Like please at least release me for the kids until pending court. Please like tomorrow because they're saying like your dad's coming to get you. You're going to have bail in a second, but they said that they might not offer me a bail. Um, right. Because of court. >> Yeah. I I don't know the answer to that. >> You said violation. >> Yeah. But if you talk to her and say like, you know, she might release me pending it. What? >> You swear. And Joe, can you please tell him that I tried to get out of the car at the freaking um Walgreens like the light thingy at Walgreens? Wasn't I trying to jump out of the car like at >> Yeah, but at least she'll be home shortly. >> Like $12. How much money was it? >> It was like 20. >> Almost 20. >> John, please get Can you please put money on my books tonight so I can call and get >> cuz they don't have a commissary. They just have a vending machine. No, I just said please. Like I said, please literally just don't let Sharon let me in here if I have a bail. I said it was literally like a couple dollars. Like it was not like it wasn't intentional. But like >> and it's because I have a record. But he's saying like if I would have not like if you wouldn't have pulled away the second time that I ran up to the car, then things would have been different. But Probably not. >> Yeah, >> probably. >> Not saying it's your fault, but No, I'm just joking. >> It's not a joking matter, but >> if you can't find the humor in any situation, reevaluate. >> True. But >> I make fun of myself all the time. >> But it's not really funny to like be like my kids. I don't know. >> It sucks. Um >> babe, >> babe. Um in my closet, >> you can >> just state the reason for the stop. >> Top right. Um just make sure all my meds and everything are, you know, all put away, locked up for the kids from the kids. Um what else? But I do John I really do think McKenna will let me out like pending the violation if you just say hey listen like you know she's guilty no matter what because of her record. But it was literally like two patch like she had these two little patches and just make sure you say that. Okay. There was like $2 $2 or something and like it was an accident. What? I know it didn't have anything to do with money. Like I there was still money left over on the thing. I promise you like that. I mean I want to say something. I don't know if that would get me in trouble but I guess nothing I can't get in more trouble now, right? >> Say whatever. >> No, but I'm saying >> make any threats to anybody. No, but like I mean technically the one thing that I like, you know, I know that I probably did pay for they didn't even say anything because I had a drink in my got I had a drink in my hand. >> Was it apple juice? >> Apple? >> Yeah. >> What else? >> We saw that. >> Oh, they knew that. Well, then what? >> Oh, was it on there? >> Yeah, it was on camera. >> No, I mean it was on the thing. I don't know. >> But you did walk in with it. >> No, I definitely No, I got it from the refrigerator thing. >> Like, is a probation officer allowed to to say like it's okay to let her out pending court? >> I have no I I don't know how all that works. If I did, I would tell you, but I don't. You don't know like how fast people go to court? I thought it's like >> if you if you stay in, don't bail out, you'll have first appearance at like 8:30 in the morning. >> 8:30, 9:00. >> But there's a chance they'll they'll let me bail out. >> I can't answer that. >> I thought it was up to you guys. No, >> it was like if the cop gives you bail. >> Nope. >> Are you sure? >> Yeah. I've never said anybody's bail. There's a sketch a set schedule of bond costs that they have. >> Yeah, but it's like how do how do they know that John had bail then? >> Well, if it's just driving without a license and not never doing it before, I know. >> Even that is messed up because it's my fault. >> Are you new? >> What's happening? >> Are you new as a cop? >> No. Why? >> Cuz you don't know anything. Well, I don't know the mail, though. I stay away from this place as much as possible. >> I mean, I have to say this is kind of like the nicer places, though. >> I thought there was an amount of money that had to be taken. >> Nope. You steal a pack of gum and somebody wants to press charges, it's a crime. >> Why does she press charges? Can she stop that later? Can they? >> If they felt like it. Both individuals were arrested and transported to the county jail. The driver was taken into custody for driving without a valid driver's license, while the woman was charged with pettit theft and resisting during the recovery of stolen property. She later bonded out and her case remains active in county court. Although she claimed in the video that she only had a short time left on probation, deputies learned that wasn't accurate. Records show her felony probation began in January of 2025 and does not end until January of 2027. Deputies confirmed her status with the Department of Corrections, and this arrest will be treated as a violation of that active probation. Reports also noted that she has a long history of theft related offenses in multiple states, including previous convictions in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Florida. I like it when I see you. So better say you're feeling the same. Yeah.
