This week on traffic Thursday, we're doing a lot of our traffic enforcement on the sawrass because there's an initiative that's going on that FHP is holding. It's uh a southern slowdown. It's Florida, Alabama, South Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, all out here trying to reduce the speeds and see if we could stop crashes cuz we're getting a lot of people who are speeding and excessive speeding. That's why on July 1st they passed the new law, the super speed. If you're going 100 or over, it's it's considered arrestable offense. It is a misdemeanor in the state of Florida. And if you go 50 over, it's the same thing. 50 over any speed limit. It's a misdemeanor and it could be arrestable offense in the state of Florida. And if you do it twice in a year, it could you could face up to 90 days and they will take your license away from you for a year. Tango 32 1050 northbound saw sample. How you doing? Officer Edino, Cole Springs Police Department. Reason why you're being stopped. You're going 95 in a 65 construction zone with workers present. You went from lane three to lane two. That's when I had you going 93, 94, 95. Then you saw me. You slammed on your brakes, huh? Can't do. >> Okay. You have your license? No, I I didn't say 93. I said 95. You were going 95 in a construction zone with Okay. Reason why I stopped this individual doing stationary radar just south of Atlantic facing northbound in the construction zone. This female was going northbound in lane three, left lane three to go to lane two, blowing past both the vehicles in lane three and in lane one. Um, she is going 30 over in a construction zone with workers present. So, it is going to be enhanced license. Okay, you are getting a citation for going 30 over in the construction zone. Okay, 30 days to respond. All the instructions are in here. All right. Um, ma'am, just be careful. Um, there is a new law that they put into effect July 1st. Okay. If you go over 100 milesPH, 100 or above, it is an arrestable offense. Okay? It's going to be a misdemeanor. If you go 50 over, it is an arrestable offense. Okay? If you get caught doing that twice in one year, you could face almost up to 90 days in jail. They'll take your license. So, please be careful. Okay? Drive carefully. 99 100 104 105 106 106 mph on a on a wet roadway. Tangle 31 1050 Sawrass southbound corridge. >> Hey, I'm I'm officer Charnie with Coral Springs Police. You just hit 106 mph on the sawrass. It's a 65. Is there a reason why you're going so fast? >> All right, you got to slow down. There's a new law in Florida. It's called the super speeder law. Anything over 100 is now criminal. I could take you to jail for just the speed alone. >> Do you have your license on your registration insurance? >> Uh yeah, I have a license. Um >> is your address on your license current? >> Yes. >> Okay. And then your registration insurance. Do you have that? >> Um sorry. Um I have I have this stuff. Um uh yeah. >> Okay. >> Good. And then just your insurance, please. >> Insurance. >> Tango 3192. I might have a picture of it. >> Yes, that's fine. >> Tango Tango 31 1029. I'll leave this with you cuz this is good. I'll be right back. If you find the insurance, just please stay seated. Okay, we're going to um look at this guy's license. He's late to work and he's going 106 mph on a threelane wet road. Everything's wet because a huge storm just came through South Florida, so everything's saturated. So, we'll look into his license. Um, depending on the circumstances, if this is his first offense, it'll be a misdemeanor where his license could get suspended for a certain amount of time. Did you find your insurance? >> It's uh was on my phone. >> Okay, that's fine. Thank you. So, as far as the speed goes, I'm writing you a citation for 106 and 65. It's a criminal court date that you're going to get with this ticket because, like I said, it's a criminal offense. Now, as of July 1st of this year, um you can represent yourself in court or you can talk to a traffic attorney and they can help you. So, you're going to sign this citation here because you have to. You uh signing this is not admitting guilt. Signing this is just saying that you promised to take care of this ticket >> and then do I get a copy of this? >> Yes, correct. But I just need to sign this court copy first. Again, you're not admitting guilt. You're just promising to show up to the court date. >> And then I need your right thumbrint. So, the traffic stop just ended. The driver pulled away. I just wanted to elaborate a little bit more about the Super Speeder law. It just it's a new law that just came out July 1st of this year, 2025. And for first time convictions, uh, anyone anyone could face up to 30 days in jail. Um, as well as a fine of $500. You could get one or the other depending on the judge, the prosecutors, or the defense attorneys, whatever they come to agreeance with. Now, second or subsequent convictions, if this happens again, a person could face up to 90 days in jail with a with a fine of $1,000 for committing the violation of being a super speeder. Um, if convictions happen within 5 years, your license will become suspended for 180 days minimum to a maximum of 365 days. Says no more than a year. And I'm reading this, you know, everything's new. So, uh, this is the importance of this law to make sure that, uh, people slow down so that we preserve life on the roadways. Um, onethird out of every crash in Florida that results in a traffic homicide is related to speed. Obviously, the purpose of this law is to slow down other drivers to save lives. Now, another penalty is if you uh become a super speeder violator um twice within a fiveyear time span, you could lose your license for a year. Anywhere from 180 days to no more than a year. Your license will be revoked, which basically means it becomes suspended and your privilege of driving will be taken away from you. [Music] Tango 32 1050 s northbound sawrass sample. >> How you doing? >> Officer Dino Call Springs Police Department. Reason why you're being stopped. You were going 90 and a 65 in the construction zone. >> How many? >> 90. >> 90. Yeah. >> You were in lane one. What? >> I go to my house and find me 6 m here on some road. >> You go to your house in what? >> Yeah. Here. 6 minutes. >> Yeah. But what does that have to do with how fast you were traveling? >> Well, I I already I already take the the this lead by commercial. >> Yeah. >> And I I don't see how how many how many how many >> Okay, just stand by for me. Reason why I stopped the black Toyota, I was doing stationary radar at uh on the Srass just south of Atlantic facing northbound. He came northbound in lane one, passing all the vehicles in lane two, lane three, and I had him go 90 and a 65 with the construction zone and workers present. Sir, >> here's your license. Go over here. Here's your license. Okay. You are getting a citation for 90 and a 65 construction zone. Okay. Workers are present. I understand you do have your CDL, but you already issued a warning a couple of months ago. Okay. >> You have to slow down. All right. 30 days to respond. All the instructions are in the pink pamphlet. >> The ticket, right? >> Yes, sir. Where where >> all the instructions are in the pink pamphlet. So when you get home, take a look. All right. >> See how much they take you. >> I don't go over prices with you. That's all I'm trying to explain to you. When you get home, please take a look. >> Drive carefully. [Music] Pull off of the road. Pull off of the road. Tangle 31. Show me out with them. All right, I guess this is Tango 30. Um, Tango 31 officers backing me up. This vehicle in front of me, um, actually I was in front of this vehicle and this vehicle was coming up behind me changing improperly changing lanes, found too close, not even putting the turn signal to change lanes at all. She passed me going 87 miles per hour. Then she kept doing the same thing. Reckless driving, improper change in lanes, not including the turn signal. So, we're going to give her two tickets. Going 91 uh actually on a work zone because it is a work zone and then careless driving with the intention of um aggressive driving that. We're going to check that box also. All right, ma'am. Instead of charging with reckless driving, which you can be arrested for, just to let you know. Okay. I'm giving two tickets. one for go 91 first of all on the 65 in a work zone okay this is a work area okay and you're speeding so the fine it's double I circled the amount also you've been charged for catalyst driving improper changing lanes following clothes now putting turn signal and everything that's what you were doing plus the speeding part okay so you got 30 days ticket citation okay you got your options yes choose one of the options we've got 30 days when you leave make sure you speed up and go don't go like 25 and remember this is 65 Five. Okay. Drive safely. Get out safely. Put your blinker on when you change lanes. Okay. Thank you. Tango 32 1050 northbound. Saw grass sample. Great Hyundai pickup. >> How you doing? Officer Dino, Call Springs Police Department. Reason why you're being stopped. You're going 94 in a 65 construction zone and workers are present. Okay. Do you have your license on you? >> 94. Stand by. Reason why I stopped this individual. I was doing stationary radar on the SRS facing northbound in the construction zone just south of Atlantic. This individual was traveling northbound. He left lane three. Uh switching to lane two, passing all outside vehicles, accelerating a high rate of speed. I had him going 94 and a 65 with workers present in the construction zone. Here's your license, sir. Here's your citation. You are getting a citation for going 94 and a 65 construction zone. Workers present. Okay. 30 days to respond. All the instructions in the pink pamphlet. >> All right. >> Officer, >> you got you got to speak up. I can't hear. >> Look at the back of my truck. I'm a business owner. I have so many drivers and I don't know how it happened. I was rushing to I mean is that what what I'm going to do about it? >> What you going to do about it? I don't know what you're going to do about it. You could either pay it. You can plead guilty, not guilty, driving, school, however you want to go about it. There's 30 days um to respond. Okay. It's all in the pink pamphlet. I know I I I respect that you're a business owner. That's >> Is there any way that you give me a warning? >> No. This sir, I'm not going to sit here and do this with you. Okay. >> Okay. Drive carefully. Tango 31 1050 Sawrass northbound University. >> Hi, Officer Charnie with Cole Springs Police. Reason for the stop 90 to 65. >> Do you have your license on your registration insurance? I do like college orientation because the traffic. >> Gotcha. You still got to go the speed limit though cuz it's the it's a wet roadway and everything like that. It's rush hour way too fast. >> Used to cuz we're not >> Gotcha. >> Is your address current? >> Yes. >> Okay. Not sure if you guys can hear, but it's pretty loud out here. Uh, they're going to some type of school orientation. It's funny because there's a radar detector right on her dashboard. I guess it didn't work, but 90 and a 65. Um, she was passing all traffic on the right lane. The road is wet still from all the rain that we've had. So, there's just no excuse to be going that fast. That's way too fast, especially in a giant SUV. I'm issue a citation. You have three uh options. paying it. Traffic school, traffic court, and uh you got to comply within 30 days, whichever one you choose. All right, please slow down. Free to go. [Music]
