This is the suspect strangled. >> Has he been hit or anything? This he was riding I guess. >> Okay. >> He was riding. It's okay. Just take a breath. We need KSP. We need to talk to him, not us. >> No. Matt Davis is down. Davis, >> I believe that's who it is. Yeah. >> Let's get him out. Come on. >> That door. That door right there. >> Get him outside. You're in air condition. >> At this point, the responding officer was accompanied by a ride along. As the situation escalated, the ride along stepped in to confront the suspect in an attempt to stop him, leading to an unexpected outcome. >> I'm sorry, man. I'm sorry. I couldn't do anything else. >> The what? I'll bring you up here, too. >> We're trying to find you that way. >> Yeah. >> No, just go out this door over here. All right, this is a one in a lifetime thing. This kind of thing. >> I could I could have let you go, man. I could have let you go. >> As the investigation progressed, medical personnel confirmed that the suspect had not survived the chokeold he had been placed in. At the same time, the injured officer remained in critical condition, leading investigators to conduct more extensive interviews with witnesses in an effort [music] to piece together exactly what had occurred. >> Appreciate you. >> Yes, sir. Both. >> Take both. >> Y guys come to talk to you. >> Okay. >> How you like your job? >> Love it. >> Not because of this though. >> No. No. Do they? And today sucks, but >> do you get a lot of those? Authorities also confirmed that no charges were filed against the [music] ride along for his actions during the incident, bringing the case to a close. Next, what began as a routine response to a fight involving two brothers at a bar would eventually escalate into one of the dead [music] encounters local officers had ever faced. right now. >> On October 12th, 2022, in Bristol, Connecticut, 35-year-old Nicholas Butcher got into a bar fight after drinking with his brother, Nathan. Later that night, police tracked down the car they'd been driving away in. >> Jeep creeper. Come get me to come get him. This what I get. Where's Officer Hamzy tonight? We're comedy. >> Nathan. >> Upon making contact with Nicholas and his brother Nathan, the officers were immediately put on edge. Nicholas was visibly intoxicated and it quickly became clear that three officers might not be enough to keep the situation under control. >> Hang tight in the truck. >> Now, I'm going to go talk to the cop, my brother. >> What is this? >> Yeah. I don't know what you're doing. I'm going to talk. I'm going to talk with my brother and >> yourself. You're not listening and you're making the situation much worse. >> No, no, I can stand right here. You're going to stay right here. If you move, you are going to be placed under arrest for interview with an investigation. Okay. Oh, look what you did. >> That brief confrontation, though fueled by alcohol, was likely something Nicholas remembered clearly. His actions later that night made one thing certain. His hatred for law enforcement ran deep. That's right. >> He's like a ninja. >> He is. No. [ __ ] you, dude. >> Passenger seat, dude. I really I really I really want to hurt you right now. So So >> tell him to get in the passenger seat, buddy. Tell him to get in the passenger seat, please. >> Like I won't see from 800 yard. >> 800 yard. >> Stop. >> Yeah. >> Passenger seat, >> please. I've done nothing to be cuffs. >> Because Nathan's license was suspended, their car had to be towed. As they waited, Nicholas's combative behavior escalated sharply. >> Oh, [ __ ] That's my garage. >> You know, bro, >> you're you're [ __ ] hilarious. >> Yeah, boy. >> I would love to be [ __ ] 56. >> Jesus Christ. Nathan, you just got to wait for your >> What is it? 76 bucks. 80. >> Not even that. >> 90. >> There you go. >> Are we going to get >> Yeah, we is. Right there. Right by the where you were standing before CC field. >> You got a hyphen. You got a hyphen in there. >> Nicholas got a hyphen. >> After being ticketed by police for disorderly conduct and having their vehicle towed, Nicholas returned home. Rooer immediately began putting on his camouflage, preparing his weapons, and within 30 minutes at 10:32 p.m. placed the call to 911 to lure officers to his home. >> Press 911. What's the address of the emergency? >> It is uh 310 Redstone Hill Road. Um your alter your officers had an altercation with a man earlier tonight and I don't know if he's good. >> Yeah, I did. Okay. Where do you have the address? >> 310 310 road. Although wounded in the upper leg area, Officer Urat was able to move around the back of the house and ultimately to the location of the Bristol police cruisers parked on Redstone Hill Road. From that position, Officer Urat fired a bullet that took down Nicholas for good. Sergeant Deonte and Officer Hamay were both pronounced deceased. Up next, what initially seemed like a straightforward vehicle stop soon escalated into a critical incident, placing the responding officer in immediate danger. >> What's going on? The reason why you don't have your seat belt on? Ed. >> On September 13th, 2025, officers were sent to investigate a vehicle near the airport after receiving information related to an individual with active arrest warrants. What initially seemed to be a routine traffic investigation quickly became more complicated when a seemingly straightforward approach developed into a serious incident after the passenger took an unexpected action. >> What's going on? The reason why you're not uh seat belt on it was. Huh? It was. It was. You got the driver's license. Can you roll down the back window? >> What's going on, buddy? >> Good. Good. I'm just trying to stand behind him so he has something to lean up against. >> You okay? At this point, the civilian's assistance proved critical as the officer's condition remained serious until emergency medical personnel arrived at the scene. >> Lean back a little bit. >> Huh? Lean back. >> Lean back. >> Just don't go out on us. >> Is that good? You want to go up a little bit more? >> The guy that was in in the booster. >> He can give you all the info. >> Where you want it at? >> Put it right down here. >> Yeah. because I was shooting. >> Stay water. I need them at the airport. You want another? >> Oh, yes. You need more? Yeah. You pour across your forehead and go back. Okay. >> Next up, what began as a simple check on a vehicle reportedly involved in suspicious activity along a roadway soon turned into an imminent threat [music] to the responding officer. In the early morning hours of July 23rd, 2018, a female officer spotted a sleeping man inside a vehicle and attempted to make contact with the man, who initially provided a false name. He was later identified as Kenneth Martell, a fugitive with an active warrant for murder. Here's how the traffic stop unfolded. >> 511 is going to be occupied by one male. >> Hi. >> Good. How are you? >> What are you doing? Parts back here. Just taking a knife for a while. Okay. Where are you coming from? How long have you been here? >> I've been here long came from. >> Okay. Anything with your name on it? something wrong. >> No, no, but [snorts] you're parked on private property right now. Um, it's suspicious that you're back here. This is doesn't normally happen.
