When the suspect opened fire, the officers immediately took cover, protecting themselves while waiting for backup. A female officer hid in a bathroom since the door she had planned as her escape route was locked. Coming up, the officers worked to stay safe while trying to gain control of the armed suspect. So far away res temple. Bring me a home. Oh yeah. I saw you. Too late. Too late. Lucas Wood Here they come. Backup arrived to assist in removing the man from the house. Ultimately, the special operations team was called in to breach the second floor by ripping a hole in the side of the suspect's house, ensuring a safe entry and extraction. The suspect was later charged with aggravated assault. Moving on to the case where an officer was caught in close combat with a mentally unstable woman. How are you? Oh, Jesus Christ. From one knife horror to the next, here we have the case of an officer who was attacked right outside a police station. On October 5th, 2024, a SMPD downtown services unit officer was flagged down by store security about a robbery that just occurred. An employee of the store was pushed to the ground and a box of kitchen knives taken by a male subject who fled the area. The box was later found abandoned with one 8-in chef's knife missing. The subject was later confirmed as 28-year-old Dea Abdelhadi Haliba, a resident of New York State. An officer from the Santa Monica Police Department was on foot at the front of the police station to collect information from a resident about an unrelated call when he was confronted by Haliba at the front doors of the station. Let me let me talk to them first and then we can talk. Is that okay? Were they here? I was here first. Yes. I just want you to know what's in your jacket. Halibbe was pronounced dead at the scene. The officer who was stabbed needed medical attention and spent one night in a hospital before being released. He's expected to make a full recovery. Moving on to the case where a deputy accidentally overdosed after indulging in seized contraband. What is this? What what exactly is this coming? Uh this pistol, right, bro. On October 24th, 2023, Sacramento Sheriff's Deputy Marvin Morales conducted a stop on a suspicious suspect and found illegal contraband wrapped in tin foil among the man's belongings. What's up, bro? What's good? You okay? You're having a lot of fun out here, bro? Yeah. You got new sunglasses. Oh, yeah. Supposed to get a haircut, dude. I forgot your name, bro. What is it again? I was doing the same [ __ ] He was, bro, but last time I saw you tweaking on the grass back there. Deputy Morales confiscated the crystal and the man was cited for possession. The officers headed back to the station and that's when the shift took a rapid turn. Morales's partner found him in a state he had never imagined. right now, bro. Yes. Where my car is at? I thought he was in there taking a poop and as soon as I open the door, he's leaning against the corner. So, I ran back and got my Narcan. I move my car out of the way. While waiting for medical personnel to arrive, Morales's fellow officers revived him with multiple doses of Narcan. There you go. There we go. There we go. There you go. Wake up, bud. There you go. Come on, Mark. Come on. Wake up, bud. Come on. Come on, man. Wake up, Ralph. Wake up, Ralph. Wake up. There you go. There you go. Going to start rolling into the recovery hole. Come on. Come on, Mark. I see you. There you go. Keep breathing, man. Stay with us. You're good. You're good. Keep breathing. Come on. Both still strong. Still breathing. Yep. Deputy Morales regained consciousness at the hospital. According to a report from the Sacramento Sheriff's Office, Deputy Morales intentionally smoked the drug in the restroom of the sheriff's office. The substance turned out to be China White. Deputy Morales reportedly smoked the illegal contraband out of a glass pipe that he also obtained on the job and lied about disposing of months earlier. He later admitted to taking the pipe home and smoking the residue three or four times. Internal investigators from the sheriff's office recommended that Morales be fired on the grounds of dishonesty. From an absurd situation to one that was truly heartbreaking, this officer broke down in tears as he confronted an irresponsible mother whose neglect led to devastating consequences for her children. Are you kidding me? Oh god. Right now we're at the baby has bruises on his face bleeding out of his eyes. In November 2021 in New Mexico, a distraught mother dialed 911, desperately asking for help. After further conversation, dispatch determined that the 30-year-old caller, Kira Milton, was in the midst of a mental breakdown, and sheriff's deputies were promptly sent to the scene. Little did officers know the roller coaster of emotions Kira's case would take them through as they handled a depressed mother and the harm she posed to her children. Hello, ma'am. You want to come over here? I can get you help. Just come with me. No weapons on you? No. No. That cigarette helping you out. See, keeping you calm? No, I don't even got lighter. You don't got a lighter? All right, I can try and get you one. You want to come with me? What's going on today? Why do you want to hurt yourself? What's bothering you? Can you walk that way with me? Yeah. Come on. Let's go. Does anybody have a lighter? You have a lighter on you by chance? Hey, you didn't do anything to hurt the kids, did you? No. Oh, okay. This is When the officers arrived, the scene was tense. Inside the home, the officers discovered Kira had young children and their priority was to ensure the kids were safe. And when they turned their attention to Kira, they were left shaken by the mental state she was in. Hey, baby. How are you doing? Oh my goodness. Your little one. You want to come in here with your brother? Hey, baby. Oh my goodness. You are cute. What's your brother's name? What's his name? Oh my god, this is embarrassing. Do you feel like hurting the kids? I mean, I get it. If you do, parenting is a lot. I'm so frustrated. Uh-huh. Like, when one stops crying, the other one starts crying. It's like you can't catch a break with the kids. Yeah. And then on top of that, I got anxiety. Like I can't breathe. Okay. Do you feel like hurting yourself all the time? But do you feel like that right now? Say that. Do you feel like that right now? Hi guys. So this is Kiara. She's telling me right now she has anxiety. She called us because she doesn't want to hurt the kids. She hasn't hurt them. I asked her if she feels like uh hurting herself. She says all the time. I don't know if she feels like that right now. She didn't answer that question directly. She's just going through a lot of stress telling me she can't catch a break. When one kid stops crying, the next kid starts crying. Yeah. So, she just wants some help. Oh, go ahead and talk with these guys are going to be able to help you with everything. Okay. You just need to talk with them. I got dad's 49 already. I just know I love those guys and I don't want to hurt them, but they're frustrating the out of me. Right. I know. Um, real quick. Brother, you want to go in the cuff car? Okay. All right. Get your shoes. Okay. Not that I see that you [Music] guys while checking on the children. Officers learned paramedics had been to this house before and decided that it would be best for everyone if the mother was taken to the hospital for further evaluation. State law required that they release a mental patient after at least 5 to 7 days, but they released her the same day, resulting in devastating consequences. I called you guys. I get that. And that's why we're here trying to help you. Well, why did nobody help me get a lighter and now my neighbors are being nosy? What? They're in their yard. Just leave them. They're pointing their big old fat fingers over here. Let them. Why did it just bug you? They want to do that. They do it every day and then they feed my Chihuahua. Give her Why is your Chihuahua over there? Bars and pukes and stuff. Why is your Chihuahua even over there? Cuz she goes under the fence. Oh, if it's going to leave your property, then that's the owner's fault. They're going to listen to me and keep doing this. I know you don't want to go in cuffs. That's up. And I'm telling you right now to stay over here. They're checking on your kids, making sure they're okay. What's up? All right. So, she's going to the hospital no matter what. Okay. So, she can choose to go with you guys or if she doesn't uh I briefed them on what was going to happen if um So, what do you want to do? You want to go in the ambulance or with us? [Music] Whatever is more convenient for you guys. I don't give a just please give me a lighter. We can we'll do whatever is most helpful for you. Going to sit back here with your brother. Okay. You're in charge of watching him right now. Make sure you don't cry. Got to be a big brother. Okay. Okay. All right, bud. Thank you. Uh-huh. Kira was taken to the hospital for an evaluation and was discharged later that day, which proved to be a fatal mistake. A few days later, 911 received another call from the mother, and this time, Kira had done something terrifying. Go ahead, ma'am. He's dead. He's dead. Who is Who is he? He's my baby. He's four months. He's 4 weeks old. Sheriff's office. Sheriff's office. Clear. Clear. Oh. Oh god. Are you kidding me? The officers entered the house, making their way to the infant's crib. That was when they made the horrifying discovery. The baby was uncontactable. The officer's cries told a story of utter devastation. But then panic surged as he couldn't locate the [Music] 4-year-old. Oh. Hey. Hey. I found him. He's here. It's me right now. He's here. Hey buddy. Hey man. Okay. Yeah. Hey buddy. [Music] All right. So once once they figure out what's going on in there, then we'll talk about what what happened. I just woke up and it was like that. Is there anybody else in the home or is it just you and him? My four-year-old son is there. Just you and your son. Okay. I can't I'll say it again. I'll say it a million times. I I had a long day yesterday. to talk to my mom on the phone for 7 hours cuz he wouldn't stop crying. The officers searched frantically until they found the child hiding under blankets, much to their relief. Meanwhile, Kira tried to explain herself, but then came another piece of unsettling news. Signs of mistreatment were discovered on the youngest of the two kids. Why? Why? Oh god. Oh god. Hi. See the fire truck. Yeah. Can you fine? Hey, can I hold your hand? They're They're my friends. They're nice people. Okay. Can I hold your hand? You can trust her? Yeah, it's okay. We can look at the fire truck if you want. I just don't want you baby has bruises all over his face. Take some pieces of inside out. Don't want to stepped up. The officers who had tended to this family with hope just a few days ago were now dealing with unimaginable sorrow. Then the father confirmed the officer's suspicions. How's it going? It's not. Just talk to me, man. Talk to me, please. Let's let's step up. That's fine. Just talk to me, please, bro. So, so our guys were called up here this morning. Okay. My son was is dead. Yes. Yes. Okay. I'm sorry for your I know. I know. I know. So, we got a call up here. Um I guess your wife is your wife. She's my wife. Okay. I guess your wife called and said that something was wrong with the baby, that they needed um law enforcement up here. Law enforcement came up. They found the child in the in the uh in the bassinet. In the bassinet. Okay. Um so what we need you to do, and that's that's as much as we know at this point. I I know there's not I know you guys are doing your investigation. I know. I know. I'm not I'm not trying to be nothing. I need to know what's going on. I need to know where my other son's at. So your other son uh was taken to the hospital. Is he okay? To be checked for injuries. He's okay. He's okay. He's okay. Where's he at? He's with CFD right now. With SA not with Marinda, with SA, a different investigator. He's not at the hospital no more. No, she's get she's they he's getting discharged now with her. Okay. Right now, I need my family is what I'm saying. So, like my son would help me out a lot cuz I'm really like I'm I'm I don't I'm really at shock at what everything that's going on. Is she having issues? She's having her issues, but nothing like with the kids like that, dude. She has the uh David just diagnosed her with postpartum last week. And uh I don't know what happened with the baby. I think he got suffocated with the blanket, it sounds like to me. You know what I'm saying? And I'm I'm [ __ ] like, you know, I don't know. I don't want to put the blame on myself. I shouldn't have went back to work right away. You know what I mean? And I know my brother told me it's not even like that. But you know, for me as a father and a head of household, bro, I'm take care of everything. And I feel provider. You know, you got to do you have to do your go with your dad. Wyatt, he's going to get you lunch. Don't do that, buddy. Buddy, why? Stop it, baby. The four-year-old was placed under the custody of his father. As for Kira, she was charged with firstdegree murder and taken to jail. It is clear that officers have no idea what lies ahead when they leave for work in the morning. And the next case is no exception. What What do you got in there? What do you got in there, man? What do you got in there? What do you got there? Oh. Oh god. I'm so sorry. On July 25th, 2023, an officer was dispatched to a highway after receiving reports of a woman driving in the wrong lane. Fearing that she might be intoxicated, the officer rushed to the scene. However, nobody was prepared for how this interaction would unfold. Okay. Just how long you been here? Okay. I'll get him going. I'll see what's up. Ma'am, roll down your window. What's going on? You're in the wrong lane. Are you okay? Are you okay, man? What's going on? Tell me what's going on. Are you okay? Can you tell me what's going on? Why are you in the wrong lane? I'm in our turn lane to go into the shops if you want to start one of them. What's going on? Can you tell me what's going on, ma'am? Please, are you okay? Do you need an ambulance? Are you all right? Have you Have you been drinking or anything? It doesn't look like you've been drinking. At this point, the officer attempted to communicate with the woman to determine what was happening. However, it was a one-sided conversation with little to no response from her. Coming up, things escalated rapidly when the officer noticed a loaded pistol on the woman's lap. What What do you got in there? What do you got in there, man? What do you got in there? What do you got in there? Oh, God damn it. 225. Shots fired. Shots fired. Don't move. Shots fired.
