that one. Is >> there any in there? >> I'm checking over here. >> Oh, Jesus Christ. >> Oh my god. >> I gave them some some pills and Archer went to sleep. Put that blanket over her thousand. >> Every call officers respond to carries uncertainty. But the discoveries made in these cases would leave even experienced investigators pale with shock. >> No heartbeat. Lidity. >> Not seeing anything. >> Your wife is faster. >> No. God damn it. He's upset, but it's not real water or anything. He's freaking out and like gagging. >> I don't think you did with your wife. >> You did it, didn't you, Dad? >> No, I didn't. You said all you want. >> I think you did. >> No, I didn't. >> These were the moments when officers went pale after horrifying discoveries. We begin with a case where an anonymous tip regarding the disappearance of a woman led officers to uncover one of the most horrifying crime scenes imaginable. A discovery that exposed the disturbing brutality hidden inside a deeply disturbed mind. We're looking for Kimberly. >> Kelly, >> do you know her? >> I I haven't heard from her in a while. The last time I've seen her is a couple months and last I heard she's in Kazoo. >> Although he believed his crime was perfect and would never be discovered, his gruesome plan was about to unravel when officers sensed something wasn't right and began looking deeper. >> You know, if I just stand here and look in. >> They can. I mean, I don't have her here. >> What's in the cooler? >> Well, that's where when summer comes around, I'm going to have parties and stuff. Can you open that for me and then we'll get out of here. What's in there? >> This stuff. >> Okay. [music] >> Okay. >> On May 22nd, 2019, officers in Michigan received a serious call from a man named Steven. He told police that his friend Wade Allen had contacted him asking for help to hide his girlfriend's body. And instead of helping, Steven called authorities. He provided the exact address of the residence and said the woman's body was inside. After receiving the chilling call, officers went to the location, but were unable to locate the residence. The officers then called Steven again and he only confirmed what happened. >> All right, Steven. >> Yes, >> this is officer Fister's police department. We >> we checked that address and there's no nobody to It's not an apartment. It's just a house. Did you see this firsthand or he tell you this or how? >> Uh he told me about it and asked me if I wanted to see or see the body and I said no. >> Okay. So, he just asked you if you wanted to see the dead body. >> Yeah. >> Okay. He was trying to get me to help him to where he can go bury the body. And we told him that we wasn't going to do that. >> And do you know who the person is that? >> Yeah. Her name is Kelly Jean Warner. >> After speaking with Steven, the officers headed to the house. And the moment they stepped inside, they felt that something was deeply, deeply wrong. Hi, Wade. >> Hey, Wade. How you doing, man? >> Hey, how you doing? >> Feeling good. >> I remember you from the speedway. 35 37 65. >> What are you up to now? >> Not much. >> We're looking for Kimberly. >> Kelly >> or Kelly? She >> You know Kelly? >> Kimberly or Kelly? >> From the shelter, maybe. >> KJ. >> KJ. >> Yeah, >> it's Kelly. >> Nickname KJ 46. >> Sorry. >> Oh, I don't know. I haven't heard from that person in some months. >> She hasn't been around a while. She doesn't live with you. >> Um, do do you know her? >> I I haven't heard from her in a while. The last time I've seen her is couple months. The last I heard she's in Kazoo and after that I haven't heard from her. In the hallway, even before anyone opened the door, officers noticed a horrible odor. One that was impossible to mistake. After knocking, they were met by Wade Allen, Kelly's boyfriend, the man Steven said had called him. >> Do you mind if we come and look see, make sure she's not here? >> I can tell you she's not. I mean, you know, uh, I haven't got any mail. If you got that, I can give you that. But she's not here right now. I can tell you that. You don't mind if we just verify real quick she's not in there and then we'll get out of here. We just tell Kazoo that she's not down here and we can get get that wiped off plate. >> I think the best way for me to help you get a hold of her is through the shelter. I got uh her shelter manager person and I can give you that information. But >> as far as here, I I don't like just my my place is a mess and I don't like just people coming all the time. >> We don't care. We see all sorts of apartments and homes and >> Well, um all we got to do is verify she's not here and then we can get out of here and be done with it. They've been trying to locate her for few days and >> I've been waiting to hear from her on Facebook and I haven't heard from her. So that's all I could tell you is try Kazoo. Like she hasn't been here in forever and I don't know what to tell you. Okay. Well, I'd really appreciate if you let us come in look real quick. We could care less about whatever your apartment looks like. saying that you signal 5. >> Um, >> signal time. >> I don't know. I I feel iffy. Um, if you guys want to come by another time, just not right now. Let me at least have a date where I can clean up and do things. >> Okay. Well, here here's the deal, Wade. Um, if we got to get a search warrant, we will. >> All right. We don't want to go that route. >> I know. >> Um, that's a lot of work for all of us, including you. So, um, if we got to do that, we're going to have to detain you and put you in the car for a little while. >> I can open up and I'll say, "Hey, KJ. Kelly, and there's no Kelly or KJ." >> You mind if I just stand here and look in? >> You can. I mean, I don't have her here. >> Okay. >> Honestly, she hasn't been here in months. >> Can you just throw some shoes on real quick? >> Uh, I could. Why? Why do I need my shoes on? >> Cuz like I said, you're going to be detained and we're going to get a search warrant. Okay. Well, you just want to walk in. That's it. >> Yeah, that's basically all we want to do is just verify. >> Our bosses want to make sure she's not here. So, we don't want We want to do what we got to do for our job and then we're out. >> And if she's here, we don't care. We can just say, "Hey, okay. If she's not here, >> if it's just one of you, there is one of us. >> You want to come in? >> I'll go in, Wayne. Thank you. >> I know you know me enough." Like, >> yeah, I just >> Wade's behavior was wildly strange. He acted as if he were distant from Kelly, even though witnesses had said otherwise. When officers asked him to step inside, he grew increasingly uncomfortable, trying to avoid the situation, but he couldn't. >> It's not much, but I don't have I mean, I got my friend sunglasses here, but >> what's in the cooler? >> Well, that's for when the summer comes around. I'm going to have parties and stuff, so >> All right, no problem. Can you open that for me and then we'll get out of here? >> Well, not right now. I can't. Like I mean I want to save that for later. >> But I showed you she hasn't been here in forever. >> Okay. Well, you don't. Why don't you just open that cooler and we'll get out of here. I just want to make sure anywhere that she's she could be hiding. >> She's not going to be hiding. >> Well, I Okay. I just need to know that. Okay. >> No, I mean I I can help you out there, but I've shown you everything. [music] >> Okay. >> All right. You won't >> I haven't seen her, like I said, for >> You don't want no closets or >> No. Um, I mean this that's it. >> Okay. >> But she's not here and hasn't been I wish she was. >> All right, man. I can you can walk me to the front then. So, >> all right. >> You You want to open that cooler for me? >> Well, >> can you open the fridge for me? Make sure she's not hiding in there. >> There's no point in the fridge either. Like, I mean, it's just food and stuff. >> I understand. You have shoes you can throw on real quick? >> A little bit. Uh, but here, I'll help you out, you know. >> Okay, I'll help you out. Go on out. >> Well, I got >> You're You're detained right now. Okay, go on out. >> I'm detained. >> You're detained. Walk out there. >> You said I said shoes on. >> You're not going to get them on now. I'm giving you the opportunity to walk out there. >> WDE's resistance to opening the cooler immediately raised serious red flags for the officers. Whether Wade agreed or not, they were determined to get what they needed, even if it meant taking a longer route to do so. >> Do it now. You got anything illegal on you? No, I don't. >> Okay, put your hands behind your back. >> Get a knife or anything like that? >> No. >> Okay. Why don't you turn around against the wall real slowly? >> Being the tent, I'm just >> just want the opportunity to look the rest of the way through the apartment. Okay. >> Well, I I showed you everything here. Let me >> Do you want to show me? >> I I I will. I showed you everything. >> Why don't you Why don't you walk back in there and show me then? >> But I did. You see? >> Can I look in that fridge? >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> There's something. >> Okay. I see she's not in there. >> What do you want to be in a [clears throat] fridge? >> I understand that, but we got to look. We found people in some crazy places in in little cupboards like that. People can crawl in there and fit in there. I just want to make sure 100% that she's not here and then we'll get out of here. >> I She wouldn't have to hide. >> Well, I I don't know her. I don't know anything about her. I don't know if she's hiding from the law or hiding from her family or or what she's doing. So, >> I don't think she would. >> I just want to verify. Okay. Can I look in that cooler over there? >> Um that that's kind of like I said later on and summer stuff, but I'm trying to keep my stuff kind of private, you know. >> Well, that's fine. All I want to do is open it, say, "KJ, you in there?" And then close it right back up and I'll get out of here. You'll be out of handcuffs and we'll be gone. >> Well, let's have a warrant for the rest of this and I'll just get detained. I just >> As Wade was taken to the patrol car, he continued to question why officers needed to open the cooler. But once he realized they would obtain a search warrant and uncover his dark secret, whether he wanted it or not, he finally permitted them to open it. And what they found inside was one of the most gruesome scenes they had ever encountered. >> Okay. You want me to open the door for you? >> Yeah. You don't want us come or gone. >> Then we'll get you out of handcuffs and I we'll leave. >> Yeah. >> I'm good to check things out. All I'm concerned about is any closets or any coolers. >> Like I said, just in here watch. >> Okay. You can Can I pop it open? Just take a peek. >> Well, yeah, if you want. >> Okay. Why don't you step back for a second? >> Okay. >> What's in there? >> Just stuff. >> Okay. All right. Let's head out here. But uh my wallet's right there. >> Okay. I'll grab it. Head out. Head out here. >> Everything's good now. >> Yep. Yep. Everything's good. >> I showed you everything. >> Yep. You're under arrest. Okay. >> Under arrest. >> Yes, you are. All right. Got to get the crime task force out here. Come check this out. >> What? >> Uh, got a homicide. Found a body in a cooler. U looked like she's probably, I don't know, doubled over in there. The cooler is probably 4T long or something. I looked in there and I seen an arm and it had like black mold dots on it. >> Hey Sam, this is Damon. Um, and I need you here at 209 North Maple like ASAP. Inside the cooler, officers found the body of Kelly Gene Warner, Wade's girlfriend. Their suspicions had now turned into something concrete. The call from Steven, the horrific odor, and Wade's bizarre behavior finally made sense. After discovering the body, officers arrested Wade and brought him to the interrogation room, ready to uncover what had happened between the couple. Instead, what followed was a carefully constructed chain of lies designed by Wade in an attempt to escape the situation. >> All right, Wade. So, >> what I would like to know from you is in your own words, what happened to Kelly Jean? >> I know she's been through a lot. I'll start with saying that she's hypoglycemic. Okay. >> All right. So, her eating levels are important. She has to have a certain amount of sugars or whatever. Mhm. I only bring that to attention because I know at one point while she was making the cereal, she fainted and really hurt her head and it really concerned me cuz a little after that I started seeing impairment issues whether speech, memory, things like that. I was concerned That incident had to have happened in March. >> Okay. So, it's been a little bit. >> I want to say when >> when you say she fainted and hurt her head, how how did she hurt her head? >> I watched her when she She fell back. It was back her head on the floor. I said her motor skills and memory were start at her best. >> Okay. when she fell, you described it as she kind of fell backwards and hit the back of her head on the floor. >> Yeah. >> Where in was this at your apartment at? >> Yeah. >> At 209. >> Okay. Where inside of the apartment did she fall and where did that happen at? >> Kitchen. >> In the kitchen. Okay. >> When she fell, would did she become unconscious? Did she knock herself out? Did she just kind of stone herself? Did she >> She was unconscious. >> Okay. About how [music] long would you say a little bit would be? >> Well, I would say 5 to 10 minutes. And even though that might seem like a little The investigation began in the most unsettling way possible. Instead of even pretending to be sad about what had happened to Kelly, Wade showed no emotion at all. He didn't cry. He didn't show any signs of remorse. He simply stood there telling a fabricated story, convinced he could fool the police. And the more Wade talked, the more cracks began to appear in his story. >> So, let's let's go start from March of 2019 when you witnessed her faint and hit her head and move until I'll hunt him today. >> All right. I believe she left for a while, got into a really bad relationship, and then she came back. But yeah, there was that and then I was trying to take care of her. >> It was I saw like a yellow thing forming in her eye at one point. Then that turned into a blood sack and that became both eyes. When did you observe this or when did you notice this issue with her eyes? >> This this was within a week or two all this being only two weeks time period because it was about 2 weeks after that when I found her in the show. >> All right. saw she passed out, hit her head on the floor. We said within a week she had something in her eye >> in that first week. >> So when she fell, hit her head, lost consciousness. Did she then come back around? >> Yeah. Just lost some memory of like she didn't know how or why she fell. >> Okay. So then after that you said that you noticed something in her eyes that looked like some yellow bus. >> It turned into blood. >> When I say motor skills like she was at a point where she wasn't able to feed herself and that really concerned me. I did my best to try to help feed her cuz one time I I I came in I saw her sitting on the tub and I I tried to feed her this meal on one of these freezer dangers. I had a bunch of those and um it was chili and she was just kind of like holding it like this and she just moving so slow and there was just chili all over her. I tried to feed her as much as I could. I said, "You need help. I'll be there." And then like when it came to like drinking water, I eventually started to give her a straw. Cuz like when I try to pour water into her mouth, there's a few times she would choke on it. So I'm like, "This is not working." >> Kelly was diabetic, which could have caused her to faint. But the fact that Wade never called for medical help was deeply suspicious. He also claimed that Kelly had been in a troubled relationship before returning to him. And while it was true that Kelly had met another man, the injuries to her eyes were not caused by this secret lover. But Wade managed to make the situation even worse when he revealed a disturbing detail about what had happened to Kelly. I thought she'd be okay if she was laying down, not standing up. Have to watch over morning. She wasn't breathing and I just really shocked me. I saw her feet and that means that she started with hot water and I don't know the strength to turn a knob [music] or I can't understand why she didn't turn it or adjust it or [music] And I don't know if that was the cause of death is is hot water >> when you left the bathroom. How was she? >> She was laying. >> Okay. And you said you started the water so the water was running. >> Yeah. And >> and was the tub the stopper in there so that the tub would >> accumulate water so she could take her back? >> Yeah. >> And did you go back in there? >> I went to sleep. >> You went to sleep? >> I thought she would be okay. >> What Wade described was in fact the disturbing sequence of events he had forced Kelly to endure. According to him, Kelly's death could be linked to being left in extremely hot water. But just minutes earlier, he had claimed she couldn't move on her own, which meant that if she died in the bathtub, Wade knew she was there agonizing in the water. >> Well, that is fine. I treaty of the situation like what I say I fig I'll do is I want to give her a proper she doesn't have any she doesn't have any anything at least wherever I'll put her. I would visit her. I wouldn't want her to have like no way I visit her. >> Wade's reason for keeping Kelly's body with him was deeply concerning. And as absurd as it may sound, the situation became even more serious after a neighbor came forward with her account. According to her, Wade claimed that Kelly had hit her head in the bathtub, causing fractures to her skull. Not only that, but Steven's account further exposed how twisted Wade's story really was. When questioned, Steven revealed that Wade had made several disturbing comments about dissecting a body, especially someone he knew well and told officers that Wade often talked about taking Kelly's life to the point where Steven eventually stopped spending time with him. On the night Wade called Steven for help, he claimed he had hit Kelly against the fireplace, but believed she was still alive. He then said he used a torch on parts of her body to see if she would react before placing her in the bathtub, later cutting her body and storing the remains in coolers. It was only after that that Wade contacted Steven, asking for help disposing of the body. By this point, Wade had provided at least three different versions of events, something he could no longer keep straight. While Wade was being questioned, another group of officers went to his house to search for any signs of what had happened that night. And what they found there would haunt them forever. >> Morning, boss. >> Hi. >> Where? >> What's that? >> Where are we going? >> I have in the back in the corner in the living room. There's a green cooler right there. I just cracked it. He finally gave me permission to come in here and look in there cuz that cooler. >> That cooler it the lid opens from the back side. I peeked over the left hand. >> No. Oh, I I didn't I just took him straight out and his blood. >> I have no idea. [music] >> [music] >> and cut them. >> There's another cooler in here. >> There's another cooler in the bedroom. >> Okay, >> I saw some toes. at an angle. >> Yeah. [music] >> While searching the house, officers discovered that Kelly's body was not entirely inside the cooler. Some parts had been cut away, suggesting they were located elsewhere in the home, and disturbingly, they were. Officers soon found a second cooler hidden inside the residence, containing additional parts of Kelly's body. The scene was so gruesome that even the most experienced officers struggled to process what they were seeing. Investigators also located a reciprocating saw, plastic sheets covering the windows, protective eyewear, gloves, garbage bag liners, ropes, ties, and a single white ribbon. All of these items painted a clear picture of the story Wade was trying to hide. One that would later be fully revealed as the investigation continued. Back in the interrogation room, investigators pressed Wade further, this time questioning him about the unsettling discovery of the cooler. >> Yeah, I I didn't move her at all for a long time. >> How long do you think a long time would be? wanted to put her all at one so she could be whole and I really knew her in any kind of way to keep her whole. Nothing I could do to keep her [music] remain. That's where it really gets. >> So you say you cut her legs. How? Where did you cut her like that? [music] >> Hopefully you never have to see something like this in your life ever. So here and then here. I started here, but then I realized her knees were still over the edge. >> Mhm. >> So, I had to go here, too. >> Okay. And how did you cut her legs? >> I used a saw. >> A saw? Like a [music] handsaw? Like a reciprocating saw? Reciproc that you called Steven >> around the time of like within a [music] week after she passed. >> Okay. What did you tell him happened to Kelly? >> I don't know what happened. Um >> did you tell him that you backhanded her and something happened and she passed away? >> Backhanded her. No, if he said that, then I'm a little bit upset because that's not sure. >> How angry were you with her or leaving and then coming back? >> I know. >> No, I I love >> I know you do. >> I know. [music] to the point where she's going to be with you and no one else. >> At this point, the investigator began confronting Wade with the evidence, questioning him about what he had told Steven, fully aware that their versions of events didn't match. It was then that he asked a critical question, one that would later reveal itself as the driving force behind WDE's actions. After the investigation, Wade was formally charged and taken to jail. But if officers believed things would settle there, they were deeply mistaken. While in jail, Wade began boasting to his cellmates about the story he had never told investigators. The first person to hear it was Kelly's sister, who by a cruel coincidence was sharing a cell with her sister's attacker and later told investigators that Wade claimed he had dug a hole behind a Kroger store to bury Kelly. However, the most unsettling accounts came from other cellmates who, although accustomed to hearing disturbing stories, were genuinely terrified by WDE's claims. One in particular that caught investigators attention, Daniel Kes. >> This guy is, well, let me just put it to you like this. He's a serial killer. >> Okay. >> Okay. Um he told us that he [music] physically had this girl down on the bed with a white ribbon around her neck watching the clock for 5 minutes until she she would and he brought her back to life. And when he did the torture that he put her through [music] before he had choked her out with this white ribbon, he gave us detail on this ribbon and this paracord that he used and Oh, it's just it's gross. It's disgusting. >> And you said he brought her back. What do you mean by that? What did he >> He gave her CPR. He was gave was giving her CPR and brought her back at that time. He said that she she went blue and he said he got on his phone because the next day when she was already brain dead >> when he started strangling her >> after after >> she become brain dead. >> Okay. >> Because she couldn't talk, she couldn't walk anything. He said that he bought a torch lighter from Dollar General. >> Mhm. >> In the Sturgis out to buy. He said the pediatric center. And he said he burnt her tongue, the tip of her tongue, both of her and her. And I said, "Wow." I said, "That's gruesome, Jim." I said, "What did you do after that?" He says, I had I said, "Are you serious, dude?" He said, "Yeah." He is very turned on to me, like wants to do things with me. That dude needs to be put away for a long time. >> I agree. This what I heard was the most traumatizing thing I've ever heard since I've been in any county jail. But we were taking shifts on staying awake. >> Okay. >> We didn't want to go to sleep with this guy in there. >> Gotcha. >> That's why he did this because he said she cheated on him. >> Okay. >> This was the main reason why he did this to her. Because she cheated on him and broke his heart. >> What Daniel revealed confirmed the investigator's suspicions. According to him, Wade confessed that he took Kelly's life after learning she had found love elsewhere. while still in a relationship with him. Daniel also explained what the items investigators found in the house had been used for. Not just him, but other cellmates shared the same disturbing details. Wade bragged that he tied Kelly while she was still alive and locked her in a closet before leaving for work, and that he gagged her with a screwdriver so she couldn't scream. One cellmate even repeated the same account Steven had given, describing how Wade used a torch on Kelly's body. At that point, the picture painted by the evidence investigators had found became clear and deeply disturbing, and WDE's behavior hadn't started randomly. One of his exes later came forward, describing the traumatic period she endured with him and stating that if she hadn't escaped, she believed she would have been the one inside the cooler. Daniel's account drew even more attention when it was revealed that after learning his cellmates had reported him, Wade planned revenge and assaulted Daniel, who later described the disturbing attempts Wade made toward him. The evidence against Wade was overwhelming, and in the end, he was charged with secondderee, attempted dismemberment of a body, and thirdderee criminal sexual conduct. He was sentenced to 37 to 60 years in prison with an additional consecutive sentence for criminal sexual misconduct. Up next, what initially appeared to be a tragic household emergency would soon evolve into a disturbing [music] investigation filled with manipulation, contradictions, and growing suspicion. >> 911. [clears throat] What's the address? [laughter] >> 911. What's the Tell me where you're at. >> Okay. Take a deep breath for me. Take a deep breath. Come on. Come on. I need you here. Okay. >> On February 2nd, 2021, a chilling 911 call came in from a man claiming his wife had taken her own life. But as officers arrived on the scene, they had no idea what truly awaited them. A horrific discovery that would only grow darker as the investigation unfolded. Wait with him. >> Get bugs. Sended medical. >> Yep. >> No, no heartbeat. >> Liidity. >> Not seeing anything. >> The footage you just saw captures the aftermath of Kendy Howard's tragic death. She and her husband Dan had spent more than half a lifetime trying to make their marriage work. But eventually they agreed divorce was the best path forward. For Kendi, it marked a fresh start. She was finally breaking free from Dan's controlling grip and had even rekindled a romance with her high school sweetheart. But just as she was stepping into the life she'd longed for, the tension between her and Dan was about to explode with deadly consequences. Dan claimed that Kendi had shot herself while taking a bath on the second floor. [snorts] >> So medical's going to disturb your scene. [laughter] >> Oh, please help. >> Hi guys. [snorts and laughter] >> Huh? >> Excuse me. >> I honestly haven't seen it. >> [snorts] >> Oh no. [laughter] Please don't tell me it's going to go away. >> Hi sir. >> Good. How are you? [snorts] >> Oh, please. Please. >> [crying] >> Did you hear anything? The officers [snorts] noted that while Dan was outwardly emotional, raising his voice and appearing distressed, he didn't shed any visible tears. They also found his reaction unusual, especially considering his background as both a Marine and a longtime law enforcement officer. Meanwhile, in the bathroom, the officers confirmed that Kendi showed no signs of life. They quietly discussed how they were going to break the news to Dan. Zach. >> Yep. [snorts] >> Do we given This is a different case. So given the circumstances of him and his emotions and things like that, do we want to tell him? I don't think medical did medical tell him that she's dead. I don't think so. Do we want to tell him or do you want to wait? >> You better tell. Okay, I got it. Uh, actually, you know what? You haven't done one. That's all we do. >> Okay. Before I take pictures. >> Yeah. Okay. What's his name? >> Dan. >> Thank you. Dan. [snorts] >> Hey, Dan. >> Dan. >> Dan. >> Hey, Dan. I'm Deputy Wheeler. >> I'm I'm sorry to inform you, but your wife is pastor. >> No. God damn it. Hey, Dan. >> I got it. >> Hey, Dan. Is there anyone that we can call for you? >> Anyone that can >> take my Oh my god. Is there anyone we can call to give you some support or anything like that? Any family that >> um Dan, I know this is hard, but when when is the last time that you saw your wife alive? >> I know this is this is tough. >> I don't know. >> How long How long ago? Can you recall? >> No. Um, what time is it? >> Did you Did you call 911 when you when you heard the gunshot? >> No. >> Okay. >> I didn't Well, I Oh, no. >> Well, help us out with the time frame. All right. >> I didn't think it was a gunshot. I was downstairs maybe going. >> It sound like something hit the floor or something. I don't know. When was when was the last time you saw your wife before she went to go take a bath? >> Hour and a half. >> Hour and a half. >> Hour and a half. >> Hour and a half or something. I don't know. >> I really don't know. I'm out of it. >> It's It's about 11:15. >> Maybe 9:30. >> 9:30 or so. >> I >> Okay. >> I don't know. I might be wrong. >> [panting] >> Oh my god. Despite Dan's attempts to [music] claim innocence, officers were immediately suspicious. They were already aware of his volatile past where he had threatened a neighbor with a shotgun in 2013 after finding out that Kendi had an affair with him. During questioning in the kitchen, Dan tried to paint Kendi as irrational and emotionally unstable, insisting that she had threatened to harm herself on multiple occasions. >> Did you ever make any statements that had you concerned about her well-being? >> Yeah, about every day. Well, it's just she's so emotional. [snorts] She tell us, "Well, we we should split up and I I agree with her and she'd go the other way." >> How long has this been going on? Was >> this hitch? Last [clears throat] hitch were pretty distant. You know, I knew something was up. But >> last month, >> yeah, whatever it turned out to be. [snorts] Yeah. Pretty distant. Do you suspect she was cheating on you again? I asked her that I asked her that to give me closure cuz you know that would be it. She said she hadn't been. You believe it, >> man. Her behavior I I don't know. It just doesn't add up. Okay. What does it add up? >> She's behaving the same way she was before. And uh before we made a go, that was pretty good. And uh when she said she didn't want a divorce or she does want a divorce, it changed about every other day. Dan explained that his marriage to Kendi had become strained over time, partly due to their long-distance arrangement. He spent a big part of the year working at a bay in Alaska. Investigators later uncovered that Dan had a history of serious misconduct. After returning from his job at the bay in Alaska, he resigned from his position as a police officer, a role he had held for 19 years. He had been working with the Idaho State Police, but was ultimately fired after a search warrant was issued in connection to the incident with his neighbor. During the search, authorities discovered thousands of rounds of ammunition, all stolen from the department. Dan and Kendi had weathered many storms together, but now [music] Kendi had made up her mind. She wanted a divorce. Dan claimed that on the night of the incident, he and Kendi had argued about how to divide the belongings inside the house. According to him, the reason she had the gun was because it was one of the items she insisted on keeping as part of the split. >> She went and and put earnest money on a house while I was up on the slope down there. Text me once that she was going to go see an [music] attorney. She told attorney a day before I got in and then she had those papers. Yeah, you're >> and I tried to talk her out of it. Let's talk first. Well, she didn't. And so since I've been here, we've been uh just going back and forth. You want to make it work? Okay, I'll encourage you to make work. If you don't want to make it work, I'm encouraging to still make it work. I couldn't see throwing 27 years away. But then, you know, I'm the one that filled out the papers and I'll give her what she wants if that's she wants. And then she we'll do everything 50/50. Okay, that includes the flipping house down there. Oh, sure. Wait. [snorts] >> So, you're I mean, obviously you're you're wanting to make things work here and she's saying >> I'm trying to encourage her. >> She's telling you you're not hearing me. I want the house and change. >> Okay. >> I feel out of love, but breaks my heart. I'm hurting you. >> Yeah. and then she'll come back and go, "I'm not sure if I want the divorce." Let that count. >> In front of the officers, Dan appeared unfased by the idea of splitting the couple's assets, which totaled around $2 million. But according to Kendy's friends and family, Dan had always been extremely money focused, often obsessing over even the smallest expenses, sometimes confronting Kendi over purchases as minor as $10. This contradiction raised further suspicions among the officers and tensions escalated when Dan received a phone call from his stepdaughter who was screaming at him. The emotional outburst gave the officers another opportunity to press Dan for the truth. >> You killed your wife. I have no idea >> cuz I got to tell you that phone call put chills down my spine people. >> You did it, didn't you, Dan? >> No, I didn't. >> I didn't think so. But now after that, I think you did, didn't you? How the hell? How the hell? She doesn't know. She wasn't here. She knows what she knows that there's a divorce going on. >> What does she know? She knows something. She wouldn't have reacted the way she did. >> Well, I don't know what it is. >> Mother, she obviously had concerns if that was her knee-jerk. Okay. >> Well, >> you understand where we're coming from. >> What the Cuz I talked to my daughter about that. >> Understand? >> You think Do you think all you want? >> I think you did. >> No, I didn't. >> The autopsy report revealed that Kendi had [music] fought desperately to survive. She suffered a broken jaw, extensive bruising across her body, lacerations on her feet, and even a secondderee burn on her arm. What raised even more suspicion was the trajectory of the bullet. The projectile was angled downward, which contradicted the typical [music] pattern of a self-inflicted gunshot, usually fired horizontally or upward. In March 2024, Dan Howard was convicted of seconddegree murder and domestic battery. He was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. Next, police were dispatched after a mother called in confessing to a horrific crime. But what officers found inside the residence would confirm their worst fears. Yeah, I've got one in here. >> Where you at? >> Over here. Over here. I got one right here. >> Is there any up here? >> I'm checking over here right now. >> Oh, Jesus Christ. >> I thought, "Okay, well, I have a prescription. I'll just put them to sleep. >> You know, just dose them quick and easy." I got paranoid and I was like, "It's not working." >> On April 5th, 2021, police received a 911 call in which a woman confessed to a crime. What they didn't expect was that the call was being made from inside a police station. On the line, the woman admitted to causing what she described as a simple overdose after giving her daughters an excessive amount of medication during a breakdown. What they didn't realize was that this had not been an accident, but a planned crime carried out as a form of revenge. >> Madison, were you dealing with some type of depression, like hearing voices? Is an officer there? >> Um, no and no. >> Okay. >> Um, I have um a diagnosed condition, but that [clears throat and snorts] has nothing to do with this. This has to do with the harassment and abuse and [clears throat] that we've been going through in our family that I've been fighting to save. I stayed with them for a little bit because I didn't want to leave them. >> But they can't keep getting hurt. I've tried to help so many times. >> Vinnie Vinnie asked you this. Were your kidsed or or >> I have strong [clears throat] strong reason to believe and I've been fighting to prove it. I've like I said, I've even filed a report already. >> So, do you think that they were? Yes. Okay. And by whom? >> By by their dads and I don't know who else, >> which is your ex-husband, right? >> Um, they have different gas. >> Oh, okay. Two officers just walked in. >> Okay, go ahead and talk to him. Okay, Madison. Okay. Bye. Bye. >> At [music] this point, officers quickly rushed to the suspect's home as the lives of two children were at risk, identified as 6-year-old Archer Hamo and 23-week old Lillian May McDonald. When officers arrived, they found blood throughout the house, which immediately raised the alarm. Moments later, they were confronted with a shocking scene marked by brutality. >> Police Department. >> Police. >> Irving police. Anybody home? >> Yeah, I've got one in here. >> Where you at? >> Over here. Over here. Over here. I got one right here. >> That one? That one? Is there any in here? >> I'm checking over here right now. >> Oh, Jesus Christ. >> Yes. >> Oh my gosh. >> At this point, officers already knew the suspect's location. She was identified as Madison McDonald. Without any attempt to flee, she began to explain what had happened that night. According to her, after months of emotional outbursts, she had reached a point where she could no longer control her anger. >> So, what's going on? >> Um, we've been going through a very, very traumatic and scary situation in the family for about a year now. And um, I've been trying to prove that there are people that are hurting my children. [laughter] And um everyone keeps shutting it down or saying they're not going to talk about it or won't help me get help. My my family is in some kind of online images, video, something with me and my kids and I don't know who else. And someone's got to help. But I I can't watch them keep crying and screaming and and not wanting daddy to touch them or not being able to get their diaper changed because she's so [laughter] her ex-husband who had been accused of abing their own daughter and recording the acts to post online. At this point, officers suspected that her breakdown may have been triggered by her inability to accept losing custody of the children. >> You're saying your husband has been your kid? >> Correct. got videos. He's got all kinds of CPS took them away from me after I filed a report because my husband told them that I was unstable and they got sent to live with my mom and him and bad stuff was happening then too. And when you're a mom and you know someone's hurting your kids, you have to stop it. >> I have full custody of the oldest and we have joint custody of the youngest, but that's only because that was in a settlement. I asked for full with the protective order. >> Yeah. I spent, I don't know, $26,000 fighting him to not have him have access to her or his mom. Again, this is like a family thing. It doesn't even make sense. It's so [music] crazy. And it it's like every day they just present themselves as worse individuals. I've been harassed. I Someone's coming in my apartment. I told the detectives that the first time. My husband had my car key originally, which has my garage door clicker. It's like a townhouse apartment. Um, messing with my stuff. They've logged into my Apple ID and they're messing with I mean, it's just harassment all day, everything to keep me quiet. >> According to the suspect, her intention had only been to drug her daughters to make it appear as an overdose, claiming she had given just a single [music] dose to each. However, the autopsy revealed that both had received high levels of medication, an unusual finding. In addition, Archer Hamo showed signs of what appeared to be a struggle against his mother, which explained the injuries and marks found on her neck and face. >> I'm not going to lie, it's like it's blacked out. I can't I don't remember specifics of the morning, but I knew that they weren't going to go to school. I was going to keep them home and have a day with them. Okay. >> I I've done it before when I got scared. And then [music] I thought, okay, well, I have a Xanax prescription. >> Mhm. So, [music] I'll just put them to sleep. >> Okay. >> You know, just overdose them quick [music] and easy. So, um I gave them some some pills and [music] Archer went to sleep and Lillian didn't. She kept going. And I thought that was odd because she's [music] a baby essentially. So, it should have, you know, affected her heavier. It's been so hard to say and I'm probably going to throw up. So, she was napping and she nap for a long time. Lily wouldn't go back down. So, I gave her some hydroxy just [music] like vividrol kind of an allergy. >> She had some more Xanax. I put it in some yogurt. Add it to her. And >> you gave her that and more Xanax or just that [music] next after the Xanax. Correct. >> Uh yeah, sorry. Just that. >> Okay. >> And um [music] I laid her down and just didn't want to go to sleep and going back and forth and I got paranoid and I was like, "It's not working. This is supposed to be simple." As the interrogation continued, Madison described what had happened to her youngest daughter. However, when speaking about her older child, she appeared emotional. A crucial detail emerged. Lillian had been killed hours before her older sister. The suspect explained that she had initially lacked the courage to carry out the act. >> Put her head in my chest and held her while she fell asleep and put a blanket over her mouth and held it under her. This was Lillian. >> I laid her in her room. I I changed her clothes. Put on a dry shirt cuz she had drilled on it. I changed her diaper. I cried and tied to her with her blanket in her love. at our room. That was at 1:36 [snorts] >> 1:36 p.m. whenever whenever that happened to Lillian. >> And I kept thinking, "Okay, it's over." And then Archer woke up and I couldn't do it. I spent the [clears throat] rest of the day with her eating, play games, watch trying so desperately not to panic. I think I was in shock so I wasn't crying. [clears throat] I kept checking on Lily like every 30 minutes, like the larger she was taking a long nap. And >> but you knew she was gone. >> Correct. As the investigation progressed, when questioned about the dark web, she responded as if she were unaware. However, investigators suspected she may have known what was happening inside her home. Throughout the [music] questioning, Madison's statements began to suggest that her actions may have been driven by a desire for revenge against her family. >> Okay. Well, I'm going to preface with it. First off, this is now a mental health crisis because I have murdered my children. Okay. >> Mhm. >> I'm a little rattled and I've been rattled for a while, but that's the way they want me. [music] Okay. I do sound crazy. If you thought I was saying right now, you'd probably be crazy, but I'm not. [music] I think that they thought I would just go crazy and they'd get the kids. And unfortunately, that didn't happen. Unfortunately, I heard them instead. It seems like every time that I just struggle with life, [music] you know, we throw it back on mental health. >> I There's nothing wrong with having a mental health problem. I'm currently having one. >> A lot of people do. >> But, um, it's gate for my family to use to to keep me quiet. How did you feel after they were gone? I just checked on them and told them I love them and covered them up and situated them how they'd be comfortable and just stood there for like 15 minutes, just stared at the floor. You don't think after you're just I felt like I died. At this point, the suspect's statements appeared rehearsed. The behavioral changes observed by investigators indicated that this had not been an act of desperation, but rather a calculated and disturbing way of getting rid of the children. >> I have tears because I'm bad for for them. I miss it already. But I'm not bad for for saving them. [snorts] How long have you been planning that? Well, I've been fighting to protect them and save them for like a year. But the thought of doing it that way has not crossed my mind. I guess it was the day before Easter when they were doing their Easter egg hunt. I think at the end of the day I did what I did and it's unfortunate and no one's going to care about what led me to it. I'm not okay that I don't think it's right. I think I do deserve to be arrested and and serve time, but I I couldn't go another day knowing that they were in harm. I don't think marrying someone who is uh who's a predator and an abuser and finding out and then finding out that there's a connection to your family for some reason and then reporting them and then then harassing you until you end up committing capital murder. I don't think that's hard to understand from a psychological point at all >> because medicines fix chemical problems, not situational problems. My problems are situational, not chemicals. I fought for safety, but I can't prove it. I I'll say that. [snorts] And I just think now it's time for me to serve my time. >> So, what were you protecting the world from then? I'm not. >> In the end, Madison Macdonald was found guilty of capital murder for the of her daughters. Up next, what officers initially discovered inside the home [music] would leave investigators horrified after authorities uncovered the decapitated body of an elderly woman during a deeply disturbing crime scene investigation. >> Oh lord. [music] >> Holy Ogden City Police starts war. Come to the door. >> On April 15th, 2025, officers from the Ogden Police Department and Ogden Animal Services were dispatched to a residence after neighbors reported seeing over 11 deceased dogs in the front yard in just the past week alone. Armed with a search warrant, officers arrived prepared. But nothing could have prepared them for what was waiting inside. Oh lord cats. >> Yeah. What's your name? >> Can we talk to you over here for a second? >> I need somebody in Spanish. Sorry. >> Spanish. >> Yeah. >> Can you come over here? We'll talk in Spanish. >> Yeah. Is there anybody else in the house? >> Yeah. >> How many? >> The man who came out of the property immediately claimed that Miguel, the owner, was sick and therefore couldn't speak. He insisted Miguel loved his animals and kept them hidden only out of fear that animal control would [music] harm them. Officers assured him no one would be harmed and urged him to call them out. But when he did, there was no response. >> In the heart. In the heart. >> Burned in the heart. >> I got problem now. And and me too. I have one problem. I have two. I got >> Oh, ouch. You call >> I very nervous. I better you know the problem more more more pass the time and more more more. >> How many dogs are in the house? >> He he say sorry. He say I needed time for this or and he say no no no coming animal control. I give it the do for the best best friend animals. I call um a provo or something over there. The sanctuary. >> Yeah, that's the thing is so the animal control is going to probably take the dogs today. So they're here, >> but I don't know. He's having problems and I know me too. What do >> you mean? What kind of problem is >> the mine? And then >> he's not he's not going to be dangerous though. >> He's not going to be dangerous though to the police, right? No, >> I tried like I tried tattoo him and I tattoo me and he say no no no not um animal control my dogs >> he's saying and crying cry every day cry crying me too. So, how many >> I love the dogs. I love it. The people [laughter] coming. I put just today I put a two dogs here. >> Just one big search warrant. Will you call your friend out from the doorway, please? >> Don't go inside. >> You want to call? >> Okay. Me again. Miguel, >> is it locked? >> See, >> you just came here. >> Locked. When the door was finally opened, officers were hit by a wall of ammonia so overwhelming that several had to back out immediately. They returned to their vehicles for gas masks before attempting re-entry. >> Probably just catch and rescue. >> We'll just hold cover on the door and then any dog that comes out is >> I think what we're going to want to do first is go in and get as many photos as we can. >> Okay. We're going to secure it first and then but I know dogs and a lot of animals are probably going to run out. Yeah. >> So, we're just going to we're going to make sure it's safe. >> Okay. Do you guys want to leave the truck there? That'll be this will be good for you as far as resources go. >> Let's just close these. >> Come on in. >> I just We don't know what's in the house. We're going to just hold cover. We'll do announcements. We'll let dogs come out and then we'll do our best to just secure as many dogs as we can or animals that are just inevitably going to run at us with them. But we need to just hold cover on the door. >> You cool with that? >> Do you Do you not want to clear it first just in case there's anybody in there? >> Well, dogs are going to run out. >> So, at least they can help us secure some out here so it's not so chaotic. >> You know what I'm saying? >> Yeah. >> Everything that I heard. >> Okay, cool. So, no like >> take them if you need to. >> Okay. You should ask me to actually make contact. >> Holy City Police Charge coming to the door. There's like 40 right here. Obviously, police, you're inside. Make yourself known. We have a search warrant. I was expecting like pit bulls, dude. Just keep going. See what you push in. >> OPD, make yourself [screaming] known. >> Hey, Teemo, >> you want to back out? Dude, you want a mask up? This is bad, dude. >> Like a mask. >> Holy. Oh, >> I got a mask. >> I'm going to go put my gas. >> That is >> My eyes burn, man. >> Dude, the ammonia is not good, bro. One moment. >> There's no, >> dude. That's unbearable. >> The It was burning my eyes. >> Yeah. >> All right, I'm going to go in as far as I can. >> Even with protection on, the conditions inside were barely tolerable. What officers found as they pushed further into the house was almost incomprehensible. What was that? Go back down. How clear No, it's screwed in. It's screwed. >> That's the front door. >> All right. Back up. >> Are we clear? >> Yeah. >> No. Upstairs. YEAH. >> What's up? Are we good? >> Yeah. >> Oh, sweet Jesus. >> All clear. >> All clear. >> No, there's like 100 dogs in there. >> Come on. >> The mouse coat. >> Oh, yeah. It's It's It's bad. The removal process alone took hours. In total, over 175 animals were pulled from the property. And that wasn't even the full extent of what the case revealed. >> So, it's mostly dogs. Once you once you start coming this way towards the front of the house and wrap around to where the front door is, there's a room on that side. There's mainly all cats in there. >> How many? >> 10. >> Okay. >> And they're little kitties, too. So, I mean, there's just a bunch of stuff stacked up everywhere. And they're on top of it on things underneath things. So there could be a lot more. >> Okay. >> There's just stuff all over. >> Yeah. I gotta keep my gloves tucked in. There's nowhere. Okay. >> So they seem friendly. They seem like they were just sniffing you guys. >> Yeah. Just sniffing. Just kind of jumping up on us. >> So it doesn't need. >> No. >> Okay. >> Like how do you guys go about doing this? We just start loading and we have someone with a trailer coming >> like is there like kennels or like >> Yeah, we've got kennels in our trucks and then we've got a horse trailer coming. >> That's more than just the pet issue. That is a health hazard. The fact that they're living in there. >> Yeah, that's >> Yes. That only lasts for a minute, [laughter] >> huh? Yeah. >> This only lasts for a minute. Thank you. >> There's about three moms with babies. I got some of those bodies for my nails. >> Did you go all the way up? >> Up where? To the front. >> To the front. I got to the front but not up. >> Oh, like it wraps around. >> Yeah, it's like blocked with a board >> where in that front room where those cats are. >> I didn't see any cats. >> There's a bunch of cats. >> Yeah, I didn't turn on any lights or anything. I just >> did a quick walk through like on that corner over here. >> This is the front door. >> Yeah, there's a room there's a room right over here with a bunch of cats. >> Yeah, the light was off. Mhm. It It is dark if you don't have a flashlight. >> Just that right there. >> Oh my gosh. >> That times like 10. >> They're all up on these mattresses here. There's another room right here that's full of mattresses. >> In the end, Miguel Salgado Vargas was charged with 637 counts, including animal cruelty, public nuisance, and multiple licensing [music] violations. In one of the most extreme animal hoarding cases ever documented in Ogden, Utah. Up next, as detectives investigated the brutal killing of a young girl, authorities uncovered an unimaginable detail. The suspect behind the crime was reportedly only 10 years old, leaving the victim's family and community in [music] complete shock. >> Kids gone. >> Please, man. Please, man. Please, man. Please, man. Please. Hold on. No. I BETTER SEE HIM NOW. On December 3rd, 2020, officers in Athens, Georgia, responded to a call reporting guns in a quiet neighborhood. When they arrived, they were met with a horrifying scene that would shatter the life of a happy family and turn it into their worst nightmare. >> He's gone. >> He's been gone a while possible. Sending the seven She said his name was Tan Gainer and he's 15. >> You can probably start C this way. >> Yep. >> It looks like I mean there's a gray that could just be that's just branch right there maybe. >> Yeah. And I got tape >> and it looks like that might be an exit right there. Yeah, >> I got a whole roll of it in my trunk. Um, >> I'll stand by here. >> The victim, 15-year-old Keshan Gainor, was found deceased at the scene. Investigators determined that he had been lying on the ground for roughly 10 minutes, but by the time they arrived, it was already too late to save him. >> Hey, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. >> Stop. [screaming] I want my brother. >> I want my brother. My brother. >> It's not the way you want to see him. >> This is not the way you want to see him. >> It's not the way you want to see him. This is not the last memory you want. >> Let's get some tape up all the way around. >> Hey man, he's behind the fence, man. It's not the way you want to see your brother for the last time. Okay. >> See my brother? >> It's not the way you need to see him. No sir, do not go back there. >> My brother, bro, >> behind the line. Let's get him behind the line. >> Anybody up back there at my time back there? >> I don't know who your child is. >> Where was you at? >> Oh no, bro. >> Come on back up here. I I got to find Avenue. >> There's showcasing here is a showcasing next to the me. One in the front, one in the back. >> You just keep on this. I know they got to do what they got to do, but just try to keep on. We're done. There's a cell phone under him. >> Yeah. >> I just wanted to >> key one more. >> I just wanted to location that he ran into >> Let's watch out for that shell case right there. You see it? >> Ah, okay. >> Steve's definitely deceased. >> Don't touch it. >> Questions about what had happened to the boy began spreading through the neighborhood, eventually reaching his father, whose reaction was both heartbreaking and painful to witness. >> Hey, stop. Stop. Stop. Stop. Stop. Stop. Oh my. >> Okay. Okay. Okay. Come on. Come on. Come on. >> No. Please stop. >> Let's take you. We're going to take you over here. >> Come on. Let's go over there. >> They're They're over here. Come over here. Get on me. >> Come over here. >> I want to see my If you want us to find out who did this, you have to look. >> Let's see. >> Look at me. I didn't even see it. >> Look at me. I didn't even see it. >> Look at me. What's your name? >> I didn't see it. >> What's your name? >> I didn't even see it. >> What's your name? >> Come this way. Come this way. Come on. Come on. [screaming] MAN, you don't >> Come on, man. Come on. >> Hey, man. Hey, man. Hold on. >> Don't grab me like that, man. >> I need you to stay behind. >> Don't grab me like that. >> I just need you to stay behind. >> I I don't Don't Don't grab me. I don't want to stay. >> I don't want to. >> Stay behind the table. >> You don't want to see it. Okay. >> I know, man. >> I just want to see my son. >> Hey, BL. She says she's trying to get them on the phone to get grandf. Okay. >> What, man? >> There you go. >> Stay behind the tape, man. Stay behind the tape. No problem. >> Stay behind the tape for me, buddy. >> Going to see my brother. Move. >> I can't allow that. >> Yes, you can move. >> Move. >> Come on. Come on. Come on, man. Move. No. >> That's my son. Hey, don't don't grab my son like that, man. >> You're not grabbing it. >> Don't grab my Hey, DON'T DON'T GRAB MY SON LIKE THAT, MAN. DON'T GRAB MYING SON like that. Like I said, >> and I know you [ __ ] ME, MAN. >> Especially on your ass. >> You me, man. >> YOUR ASS. >> ME AGAIN. >> Your ass, man. >> Your ass. >> Touch me again. >> What? Racist ass [ __ ] >> Me, man. Inside the backpack, officers found a few personal items, but what immediately caught their attention was a wallet with no cash inside. The backpack was collected and sent for DNA analysis. >> Just going to photograph what's inside and then leave it. >> Here to do it. >> Nope. We are here. All right. Got outside. Looks like we got >> white iPad. >> iPad. Black and mild. Black ski mask type thing. Some kind of camouflage cover. Oh, I've got a what is that? A Georgia EBT food stamp card to Kenya's Yerby down in the bottom. And then some other clothing items. I see a lighter. We got some cologne in the side pocket. Victorious. Got that a scale. Yep. Scale. >> Pen and a battery. All right. and we're going to go bag it in the car. >> Inside the backpack, officers found a few personal items, but what immediately caught their attention was a wallet with no cash inside. The backpack was collected and sent for DNA analysis. On the other side of the neighborhood, officers spoke with the only witness to the crime. And what she revealed became the first piece that allowed detectives to start untangling the case. >> Let me just see if I can summarize. So you were out here in in the back and you saw or you heard it sounds like some shots and then you saw the door you saw someone come from the woods and then enter this >> this apartment came out the back door here on the right hand side. >> Can you describe that person? >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> Just tell me you can't Would you be able to recognize that person again if we showed you some pictures? >> I'm not sure. I I can't say because like I said, he was leaning, >> you know, and I saw mostly the side of his face and I saw his face when he came out. But >> did you see his hairstyle though? >> Well, he it's like the little twist up things, you know. It wasn't like locked or anything, but he had like he had been twisting it, you know, to wear a neck. >> Um and then he went in here. How long was he inside? >> Less than 5 minutes. He wasn't in there that long. Just maybe long enough to get somebody to take him wherever he was going cuz he had taken off the hoodie. >> Do you know who lives here? >> I don't know their names. And so he he took off whatever he had on and changed >> except for the jacket. He opened his jacket up and took off his hat. That's pretty much all he did. >> Did you see him with a gun or anything like that? >> Yeah, it looked like a gun. That's what I was telling him. He had something metal in his hand he was putting in his pocket as he was coming across. >> Okay. >> Um do you know the people here? >> No. >> Do your family members here? Cuz it seems like they're going straight over there >> other than waving. Well, they're going straight over there because we were all talking about what happened. So they know that the guy went there. the guy who came out to give him a ride. >> Now, he's there all the time. >> He's not there now. >> Do you know his name? >> I don't I don't know anybody's name down there. >> Older, younger? >> He's an older guy. >> Older guy. >> Not Not in >> No, it'll be back unless he decided not to come back because he knew what was going on. But he's normally down there. >> What kind of car? >> All I can say was a SUV. It was a dark red color. >> Dark red. >> Yeah. >> Now, is this guy Is he Latino? Black, white, black guy. Okay. >> Are there some Latino guys that live here? >> I haven't seen it. >> That red SUV, you said they work on cars. Is that one that's usually here? Is that one he could be working? >> According to Eugenia, a man had walked straight out of the woods and into a house, and shortly after he left again, this time accompanied. Her statement caused the arrows to point toward an old friend of the victim, someone who had drifted apart from him after a misunderstanding. When officers arrived at his home, the boy Lemens Williams, known as Bubba, revealed that this case was far more intricate than they ever expected. >> What? >> What's your full name, buddy? >> Listen. >> Oh, I don't have >> You don't have a full name? >> No. I thought you said phone number. Yes. >> No. No. Full name. >> Honey, you can quit all that because you ain't going to come down here and do a [ __ ] thing. >> Knock it off, ma'am. Knock it off, ma'am. >> So, you can keep your Whatever. Whatever. You can keep your [ __ ] thing if you want to. >> Let's step to the front. >> This isn't going to work cuz you're not going to help anybody. >> Bubba ain't dead. >> No. The He did. >> Wait. Don't Don't I ain't >> I'm escorting you around front. We'll come around the front. >> You ain't got to go through no front. >> Don't listen to them. >> If you want to clear his name, let's go to the front. >> They're going to walk around in the side. >> They're not They're not going to stay in the front. I'm worried about him cuz I don't want to get in the back cuz whatever's going on. >> Yeah, I bet you heard her. >> Hey. No, no, no, no, no, no. >> You know, YOU AIN'T DID NOTHING. SO, DON'T WORRY about >> listen, they're upset. They their family member is dead >> and they think you did it. >> Yes, sir. >> Did you? >> No, sir. I did not do it. How' you really How'd you really get that shiner? Cuz it ain't from that pole. >> Yes, it is. >> Okay. >> Okay. So, let me let me just present something to you cuz there's they're saying that they saw you you coming from there, the gun in your hand >> and I'm seeing that you've got some Listen, if someone attacked you and you defended yourself, then that's something you need to lead with, not tell something else. >> No, sir. Um, and I'm not saying that that's what happened. >> Um, and if something happened where this kid attacks you, does something, pulls a gun on you, does whatever, >> and then you defend yourself, >> and I'm not saying that that happened, >> but if something like that did happen, and you say some story like, I don't know. I wasn't there. I didn't do it. It turns out that there's something over there that ties you to it. >> Yes, sir. >> Well, then you lose the ability to say that the self-defense. >> Yes, sir. So that's the only reason why and a lot of people when if they're in this situation and again not saying you are Yes. >> but a lot of people if they're in this situation they're scared to say that something happened because one someone's dead. >> Yes sir. >> Okay. >> Yes sir. >> So I try to explain to people that if it is a self-defense you got to get in front of that. That needs the very very first thing you say and because if you can't ever use it again if you tell one story >> Yes. >> and it's and it turns out not be the truth and then you turn around and say well actually it was self-defense. >> Can I ask you something? What did the me out here with a gun come from? Cuz I don't even own firearm. I >> tell you the gun residue test is not necessarily going to be conclusive because he wasn't here from start to finish. He just had to be brought here. So, anyone could argue that he went somewhere and cleaned up, changed clothes, did whatever. >> Yeah, I had I had the same clothes on all day though. This ain't >> Yeah, you ask the girl what she what he had on. We talked to them right there in the street. >> Okay. >> When we were leaving out, she had stopped to see what was going on. We didn't know what was going on. Okay. >> We had saw people screaming stuff. So, we rode right there >> and then she was just looking to see what was going on. >> What were they screaming? >> They were just screaming. >> Screaming? I mean, is that normal for people to just scream out here or >> No, we just saw her screaming and she got out the car and looked. She said, "It's someone over there dead." >> Okay. >> That was when you guys left. >> No, that when we was getting ready to leave. We went out getting ready to leave. Yes. And then >> So, >> Okay. Where did you go? >> We went [snorts] out the neighborhood. We left. >> Car insurance. >> So, you wanted to go pay the car insurance? >> Yes, sir. >> And where did you go from there? >> Uh, that was it. I dropped him off in Bethl home. >> Though he denied any involvement, officers remained unconvinced. They began digging deeper into the events of that morning and into where Lemons had actually been. >> Where did you get dropped off in Bethl Homes? >> I got dropped off inside. >> Okay. And which car were you in when you went to Bethl Homes? >> You said >> which car? >> You said which car? >> Yes, >> I was in her, >> which is which car? >> The gold uh >> the gold one right there. >> Yes, sir. >> Okay. So that should be able to be seen on the Bethl Midtown cameras. >> I didn't drop him off. You got to tell them exactly where I didn't drop you off the gate. I dropped >> Well, whatever. >> Okay. I need you to step over there with him and I need to talk to him. >> Well, if you feel like you don't want to answer no question cuz I wanted to be right here. Get you feel comfortable right here. >> Okay. >> The other part of that >> what 80. >> I'mma tell you. Tell the truth. I dropped you off in Paul View to go to a little girl house. I You didn't go there. >> Okay. So, now we're having a totally different story. >> You ain't did nothing else. I promise you did. >> Well, why wouldn't you? >> Why wouldn't you say that? >> Because I didn't want, you know, be like, "Grandma dropping them off at a girl house." >> Let me explain something to you. >> Let me be very honest with you. If you did this, your safest place right now is with us. I've already caught both of you in at least one lie, probably more lies. Quite honestly, if you walk away from from here and you did do this, >> I did not. >> They're going to kill you. Straight up. That's going to happen. So, your story has changed. But I did. >> And here's the problem. Witnesses saw you. >> Yes, sir. Where they saw me at >> going into your house and then leaving. And you have got injuries to your eye that don't line up with that thing falling over on you. >> That thing fell over. >> I I understand what you're saying, >> but here. I'm trying to say that if you did this, you need to you need to be honest about it. No, sir. >> People make mistakes and it >> this is the most serious situation of your entire life now and in the future. I can pretty much guarantee that. >> Lemons was then pulled into a deeper investigation. However, nothing was going the way officers expected. There was no evidence tying him to the crime and even Eugenia's statement wouldn't be enough. But in the middle of questioning, the boy revealed something jaw-dropping. Lemon said there were two other people with the victim that morning. He didn't. He shot me, but he knew exactly who did. Desperate for more answers, officers turned their attention to the victim's father and what he revealed would turn the entire case upside down. >> The two photos that you gave me. >> KT and Tyrell. >> Tyrone. >> Where did you get those photos? >> Uh, they were sent to me. >> By who? >> Different people. >> I need to know who. One of the things that we have to be able to do before we can take certain actions is we have to be able to explain how we know things or how things happened. >> And if we can't do that, then it's all and this may be the difference in in something we may be able to handle right now and or not being able to. >> Tell me the names. >> Just who what are their names? Um, one name is Rico. >> What? Which one he give you? >> Rico sent me KT. >> Any idea what Rico's last name is? >> No. >> The other guy, he was out here in the yard and he was saying that his nephew knew who the guy was and he sent me a picture and told me to ask my son if that was the guy. And I showed it to my son. He said, "Yeah, that was the guy." So, I called him back. But I don't know >> what >> I don't know what his name is. He was not hit me on. All right. Your son did identify him as the same though. >> Which son was that? >> Uh uh cancer. >> Officers now had two names tied to the tragic event. Tyro and KT weren't strangers. Both were known in the neighborhood and to the police. Wanting to confirm whether they were truly involved, investigators showed their photos to Eugenia, and her reaction would give them the breakthrough they desperately needed. >> So, in a moment, I'm going to show you a group of photographs. This group of photographs may or may not contain a picture of the person who committed the crime now being investigated. And it's just as important to clear innocent persons from suspicion as to identify guilty parties. Whether or not you make an identification, investigation will continue. Now, keep in mind, hairstyles, beards, and mustaches may be easily changed. Also, photographs may not always depict the true complexion of a person, may be lighter, may be darker than shown in photographs. Pay no attention to any markings or numbers that may appear in photographs. And it wasn't it wasn't that much. He was more of a stock fell kind of. And remember, I'd say hairstyles, all that stuff, very easy to change. I >> want to go with this picture. Doesn't seem to me like it was more like this guy right here. Okay. If that's the picture that you're you feel like you saw, >> what do I do to it? >> Just make whatever mark you want. >> Yeah. Sign your name or say he's the one that Was he the one in the driver's seat or the passenger seat? >> Passenger seat. >> According to Eugenia, both men were inside the red SUV that morning. KT, whose real name was Kenyas, sitting in the passenger seat, and Tyro, whose real name was Daquan, behind the wheel. This placed both men at the scene, but officers needed more than that. Two units were dispatched to their homes. Nothing turned up at Kenya's house. But the real shock came when officers searched Dcoan's residence. >> You can pick the phone. >> Yes. >> Yes. >> Holy crap. Okay, so >> over here. >> Well, that Yeah, I'm glad you're able to clear that one. That thing sometimes those things are >> blood. Yeah, that that >> Yeah, it plugs empty. I got the >> ground out of it. So, >> how long is that barrel? >> Is that not 18 and a half? [snorts] >> Looks like it's been solved to man. >> Yeah, >> that's not going to run the zero numbers, dude. >> That's not a nine. Is that an eye? Oh, yeah. It says right there. >> It says nine. >> I was looking at that. >> I'm looking at right here. Do you know >> this thing? Well, Paul Paul would be better. It looks like a chopped up AK body. >> What came out of it that came out of that? >> Yeah. Paul would probably as a collector, he'd probably know. He'd he'd be able to tell us. This is all just like an AK body. The sheet metal thing. >> But it had that in it just a little bit. >> Yeah. So, it looks like an AK style >> machine pistol. >> Well, it's like a pistol that maybe it's got Yeah. Yeah. Everything's safe. This came out of this. It's just got a mag. Maybe this thing here look like in there like that. >> Philippines. >> Um >> don't know exactly. >> Firearms were found in the house. All of them illegal. One of them, a 9mm, matched the weapon used to Keshan. The guns were discovered inside the home of Raven Bennett, Dcoin's girlfriend. With that, she was officially tied to the case, and detectives needed answers fast. But Raven wasn't planning to give them up easily. >> All right, M. That's good. Just run inside here. All right. I need to ask you about the firearms you have in the house. What firearms do you have here? >> I don't know. >> All right. What firearms are here? >> I don't know. >> Are there any firearms here? >> I don't know. >> If there are any firearms, do they belong to you? >> No. >> Who would they belong to? >> If so, um, my child's father. >> Who is >> Quan? What? False. >> All right. Have you ever seen him bring a gun here? >> No. >> Let me rephrase that. When's the last time you saw him bring a gun here? >> I don't see him bring gun. >> How long have you lived in this apartment? >> Almost 2 years. >> How long has he been in jail as long as this last time? >> You said how long? >> He was in jail for a while. I know. How long was he in for? Um, I think the last time he went to jail, he was probably locked for like two months, I think. >> Two months. During that time, did you store anything for him? >> No. >> Did he put things here before he left? >> No, not that I know. >> Well, okay. In your children's closet, are you aware of everything that's in the kid's closet? I mean, it would be your you would know what's in your kid's closet, right? >> It should be closed. >> All right. When did he get out of jail? Well, I do know that he uh he he had just got locked up probably like about three or four weeks ago. >> Okay. >> The most recent that I know. >> All right. When's the last time he left anything here at your house? >> I don't know. >> Recognize that bag? >> This look familiar? >> You see this? These are federal crimes. Somebody knows about and owns these guns. Right now, it's your apartment. There's no Dan here. There's you. >> We need to talk. Let's go in the living room and talk. >> You are responsible for your apartment, >> right? >> We just showed you two federal crimes of guns in your apartment. that you're not supposed to have in housing anyway. You're responsible. >> Even if it's not mine, >> well, I mean, you got to kind of by extension if it's your apartment. >> You're responsible. How did it get here? >> I don't know. I mean, I didn't put it here. >> Is that >> obviously >> we're we're all Everybody is very We're Everybody's had a long day, including you. We are past game playing. Where did the guns come from? >> If anything, my child's father, >> if anything, >> there's no way. >> I didn't I didn't put I didn't I don't know anything about no guns being here. None of that. So, I mean, >> would you take a polygraph to that and answer that questions about it on the polygraph? >> I mean, I will. >> All right. We can go where we can go now. We could set one up right now. >> I'm not going nowhere at all. >> So, you won't do a polygraph? >> No. I mean, not today. No. No, no, no, no. >> So, you won't do a polygraph about the guns? >> My god. >> They're not mine. >> Whose are they? >> They're my child's father. >> They are Quans? >> Yes. >> How How do you know they're his? >> More than likely is his. >> No, you just said they are. How do you know? >> More than likely they are his because he he comes here. >> Stop. Stop. There's no such thing as more than likely. They're either yours, your child's, your two guests from Louisiana, or his. Quan just put a loaded gun by your baby. Who's taking a ride for this? You or him? >> Not me, cuz I don't >> your apartment. Now, tell me about the red car. How long's the red car been? The red truck been here? >> From my knowledge, it's been parked for about 2 days now because it has not have no it don't have no car insurance. When's the last time you saw Tyro? >> It was It might have been ear I mean earlier today. >> Today, >> which is worth 5 years in federal prison. >> We are going to we're going to hand that gun to our forensics folks. They are going to both test it for DNA and then fingerprints. [snorts] Are your prints going to come up on any of the guns or the bullets? Tell us now. But there is the expectation that if it is in your home, it belongs to you. So what I will if you think of anything, >> do what you can to help yourself and to help your child with defects that if you are very cooperative and very helpful, I will go to bath for you. >> I have been Well, what I'm what I'm saying is you hear anything about the the call me. >> Miss Bennett, I have one last question for you. You were saying earlier that Duan has had you run things for him and do things for him. You correct? You said that >> he brought his family out. >> Well, my understanding as I was standing right there was that he had you do other task. Has he ever had you go get guns or drop off guns? >> Okay. >> All right. Well, just call me because the the better your information is, the better I >> At this point, officers had a crucial piece of information. On the morning of both men went to Raven's house and left the firearms there. This was the final evidence needed to charge Kenya and Dcoin with two days later Dcoin was found back at his girlfriend's home and was taken into custody. But the motive behind the kill was still unclear and that's when one of the suspects Kenya was brought in for questioning. >> Hey, can I? >> Yeah. Can we talk >> real quick? Can you do you mind taking your hands out of your pocket? I just want to patch down make sure you don't have any weapons. I'm sure you don't because you're here with your attorney. Just want to stand up for me real quick. Just put your hands on your head for me. Thanks. All right. [snorts] Um, >> you want to step in and talk to I'll just hang out here for a second. Did >> you guys all ride together or just happen to come at the same time? Okay. You put your hands down. You're good. >> During the interrogation, realizing he was cornered by the evidence, Kenya finally explained how and why the crime happened. According to him, the bag found by police had originally contained cash and pills, and he believed that Keshan had taken it. That accusation was what turned a simple disagreement into a disaster. Kenya also revealed that he was the one who wanted to handle it with the young boy, while Dcoin drove and Raven helped them after the crime by hiding the evidence. In the end, Kenya was charged with while Dcoin faced charges of felony, aiding and abetting and possession of a firearm during a violent crime. Raven was charged with hindering apprehension and tampering with evidence.
