on December 8th 2023 pelis Park police responded to a reported theft in progress at Walmart upon their arrival they met with an employee and intercepted the man at the front doors just as he was about to exit here are the events that unfolded I me know when he decides to walk out and we'll go approach him he's getting ready to walk out the do okay yeah bu hey put your hands behind your back I didn't do anything behind your back now what did I do take the backpack off I I'm not walking out the door don't matter hands on your back walking out the door fine I'm not I'm not stealing that I'm not walking out the door you stealing it so just stay where you're at and don't move you're going bring it this way yeah there you go we're going to walk back okay turn around go start walking 575 make more money helping helping to do that I shouldn't have done that man I've never had a stealing charge ever dude right ever I don't have any doing [ __ ] and I'm just right I life up man um so you said you somebody was where is this person working on a car no I was I was going to work on someone's car oh okay like with the hinges and stuff or well they were like for the I guess for the lights because on the inside there was a accident to place or something down so this is all so you can like repaint the car okay and they they they hit the car so I should never have done it man I'm sorry okay no I got you um so a couple things all right we're just I'm going to go to some paperwork real quick and we're going to see if you're uh eligible for something called apad or we'll go from there officer here do you want his info H do you want the we have a homeless Outreach officer that works here in Pen's Park you want me to give you his information I just need help man like two weeks ago almost almost put TI Bring me back I'm like year have clean girlfriend a good job and through it all way man what do you what do you normally use that's okay never been in trouble for shoplifting or anything no um when's the last like you remember the last like felony conviction you had or Miser conviction like 2013 okay so a while ago yeah one time I been good for a long time my so right now obviously my I have my dis factor is running you for like prior thefts or whatever okay there's something called apad which is adult diversion which uh is what happens in this is in L of being arrested okay but what's going to happen is if that is the case um you'll basically I'm going to give you a piece of paper and it gives you a date you have to go to the jail and they have to set something up with this program to do like community service or something that's in Li of going to jail okay I don't know if that's the outcome arrest I'm going to jail no I didn't say that I'm saying there's two options um my dispatch is running that right now okay so the option is obviously jail right or there's a diversion program that I'm seeing if you're eligible for okay so I need help bro IGN my family's calls like ignore them because it's like just feel a shame bro right I'm feeling so good I just let everybody know dude I'm not trying to like specifically take you to jail okay I'll tell you what though a lot of people that we stop here do go to jail not not not because of you know they have past history too right their choices right but so for if you are eligible like you're going to leave today on your own okay but hear me out I'm going to give you the homeless Outreach I'm going to give you the homeless out officer number okay and he has a social worker and they have an array of resources to help you drug treatment whatever it is housing okay all right but I'm waiting for that okay so I don't see any prior thefts do you have any about Oklahoma any prior theft convictions there like do you live in other states Bible school there okay any other states any convictions of theft no this is the first time ever being stopped okay so if it works out in your favor then um I'll be have to print something out for you for my laptop in the car and then we'll have to go from there okay so let me just give you a couple minutes she's going to check and then we'll go were arrested in uh October for no you were arrested in October October what this year for like trespass or something like that that you were convicted for that it was it I was downtown like some some something I had a few drinks and I fell asleep with the piure yeah they came out like woke me up and they started giving me a hard time and you're refusing to leave I said about refusing to leave I leave like where you want me to go right were you homeless then too yeah okay you were convicted though for that right for trespassing like you were like it was guilty conviction right it wasn't like anything like that anything else cuz my dispat said that it was guilty conviction said I didn't have to go okay um because of that you're not eligible okay all right that doesn't mean I'm not going to give you the person's number okay okay so you do unfortunately all right but that keeps you away from drugs though right but you got to get your Stu back together okay and I'm still going to put that number in here okay for that number just give me a sec okay there's no you can write me a thing like to fear in court no can't do that I wish I would that's what was going to be but I can't do that all right just give me a couple minutes okay can I my phone um I mean it's up to you if you want to let them get some numbers or whatever they'll let you do that there though but I was sleeping I was sleeping that I was I had too much to drink and I sued my car I'm saying you're not eligible because there's for that program right there's different eligibilities right so I'll I'll show you what it says here because you can't have so many convictions of mism or felonies and quite frankly I don't remember the actual time frame it's either two or five years but I need to just take a quick look so I only have one one thing right so it says here um no Mis amanor convictions within the last 2 years right so that that would that conviction in October would would not make you eligible all right so so and also I mean you're also um you know kind of homeless so the reason why that's not going to work okay but I'm still going to give you paperwork all right give me a couple minutes so I can finish this I'm just going to do my Viper okay real quick yes sir you good yeah okay like I said these people I'm going to give you their number for is going to be able to help you with stuff like that okay you just got to you got to ask I I give this number to a lot of people and they don't I'm saying man thank you we worked in sales for 10 like my worried about me D I almost died like I'm just some [ __ ] I almost died yeah that's something you got to look out for and now I just myself again because of this [ __ ] you got to look out and see what they're actually they're putting a bunch of all sorts of stuff they're they're they're lacing it even you know things that you think that are like press so you got to really I'm not advocating for you using drugs but you have to watch out for that assistance okay don't I don't want you to throw it out I want you to really like better yourself okay obviously this is kind of tough here right but you got to you got to you know what I mean I don't I don't have to tell you right I I was really trying for you with that that program but I I there's other than that program I can't do anything to help you other than that like dude I didn't even I didn't even do anything there like I didn't do much to drink I was sleeping in my right I I wasn't there for that John I don't know what happened there okay cuz I I just wasn't there you know I was in St Pete so I don't know the outcome you know of whatever happened there and what they did you know what I mean I chur for drugs for anything man other than other than when I slept in my car at the beer and they getting hard arrest me for chest passing uhhuh like other than that like I was doing great a year and a half ago man like not few months ago man I was doing great like I just F I made a bad mistake man and now I'm like I I I that's not what I want you to do I I I I understand and I'm not saying you're a bad person I'm just saying that my hands are tied when it comes I was trying to get you eligible for that program but I you know you're not eligible no we when you're not eligible for that we we hardly do notice who appears it's it's either that or it's jail you know and I was trying my hardest for you but can you please try to see if you do notice to where I can go to court I can't do a notice to appear man that's you know why we we just don't do that here as an agency you know plus you're homeless so that's another factor that comes into this program right so there's a couple things that are not in your favor but I you know I'm I'm trying for you I'm not being like a dick or anything my car and everything you'll be able to come back here and get your car is that is that out in the parking lot John a couple numbers um you'll be able to write them down at the jail okay they'll let you even actually open my about to they have plugs they'll be able to they have Chargers there you open it up and use it there too okay oh you didn't know that they let you open them up and that's what I heard okay yeah good guys and they don't have I have nothing you had a charger in here I I'm saying if I dies in there and they won't let me to do that they'll let you do it they let everybody do it you ready all right all right my bad one sec we searched all of this right they're not going to find anything in here no no nothing like narcotics or anything all right man I'm
