On Thursday, February 19th, 2026, a 911 caller reported a road rage incident involving a white hatchback. According to the report, the caller said the car was following her, consistently flashing her brights at her, and beginning to swerve behind her. She described the driver as a female with blonde hair who was acting belligerent, and said she believed the driver was possibly under the influence. Deputies responded, and one located the hatchback, falling in behind to monitor its driving pattern. After several minutes of observation, the driver signaled, cut into the right-hand turn lane, and pulled over abruptly. Deputies then approached to investigate possible impairment. >> Hey. >> Hey. Hi. >> Couple Smith and Sheriff's Office. What's going on back there? Why did you just all of a sudden just start off and slam on your brakes and >> girl back there with like following me, tailgating me, and uh so, yeah. >> Okay. Well, where were you Where you coming from right now? >> Uh Julian Springs, from my boyfriend's house. >> Okay. All right. So, at what point was she following you? >> Back there at 11, and she was like tailgating me. >> Okay. So, what was the point of like slamming over into this lane and slamming brakes? >> like doing like a little like little like U-turns like that. >> Okay, so it was back and forth. >> It was like back and forth, yeah. >> Okay. Okay. >> So, let me give you my registration, my uh license, and what else do you need? >> Uh license, registration, insurance. Yes, please. Any weapons in the vehicle? >> I'm sorry. >> Any weapons in the vehicle? Knives, firearms, grenades, rocket launchers? >> No. >> Okay. I ask everybody. I'm just >> No. >> curious. >> No problem. >> 5142 simple. It's 226 tone out. Got back up. >> All right, so there's my license. >> Thank you. Are you still on plane? >> Yes. >> Okay. Can you hand me that? >> Oh my god. I don't know where my purse I'm just so sorry. My registration is like tied into the Geico app, so it should have um >> Your registration? >> My registration is like tied into that, or no? >> No, you should have a a hard copy of your registration. >> Um >> While you look at that, I'm just My partner's going to hang with you real quick while you look for that. Um just give me I'll be right back, 2 seconds. >> On that one. >> Okay. I'm needing this stuff. >> Mhm. >> I know he I saw that he had a registration. I just don't know if he had a driver's license. He has your license. Okay, yeah. Where are you coming from? >> From San Luis Obispo. >> Okay. How long you been driving, roughly? Like when when did you say you got on the road with this person? >> That was probably like 9:15, >> so I was 45 minutes >> Okay. >> It's a 45-minute drive. >> Yeah. >> Did she get in front of you first or >> No, she >> What kind of >> She was on my ass as soon as I came on the highway. So, the whole time I'm like, you know, paranoid. Looking out who's driving having high beams on. Who's over and then when we were driving by her on the road she like came off the highway like it. It's like she was doing what she was feeling. There was no feeling. I didn't think there was any feeling at all. >> I like it. >> She was like her riding my ass and like the whole way like from Alabama like this whole ride while I was in Alabama >> Yeah, yeah, yeah. >> She was like riding my ass the whole time. So >> Did you ever get behind her at all at any time while driving? >> Uh I did go back up. >> Okay. You guys kind of like a little bit of like a road rage incident between the two of you. >> Like they got but she was like what is What is your problem with like I don't I'm trying to go but you're like riding my ass with your high beams on. And she was like driving it with high beams on as well. So, in that area there was a lot of prayer uncomfortable to drive. >> I understand and usually on those two-lane roads no one's supposed to have their high beams on anyways going behind you or going forward. >> on the whole time. So, that whole area in the area was just Yeah, I thought it was going to be a whole bunch of it. You're okay. >> Yeah. >> And then we were driving and stuff like I drive that road a lot. So, it was kind of comfortable. So, I thought it was fine. Then I got back behind her and then she was like brake checking me like I don't know. >> I got you. When you were at your boyfriend's house did you have anything to drink tonight? >> I did. >> I know. >> It's probably why I did. Okay. That was an hour ago. >> Okay. All right. Give me 1 second, okay? >> Well, were you having a good time until you saw us behind you? >> Everything was great until she Well, no, even with her, everything was fine. >> Okay. >> Thursday is way Friday off, so I was I was should have stayed with him like I'm just telling but he's going to get to work. He picked up overtime Yeah, he had to work tomorrow, so I I tried to tell him >> Right. >> this whole thing, but everything was fine until that. Everything was good. >> Oh, okay. Do you guys usually have a few drinks together? Oh. >> Just because he has to work tomorrow and he had to wake up early. >> Oh, right. What time do you have to go to work tomorrow? >> He gets up at 5:00. >> Oh, yeah, it's too early for me. >> Yeah, it's also too early for me, but I I didn't have to work tomorrow, so I was like >> Oh, you do work tomorrow? Are you off tomorrow? >> He works tomorrow. I don't work tomorrow. >> Oh, you're off tomorrow. >> saying like it's early for him, so I'm like I'll go home tonight. >> I see, okay. Where do you live at? >> We live right back there. >> Oh, okay. >> Yeah, but anyways, but yeah, she was like good. She's like it's a high beam, so I just like so I can't go over it. It was too much for me. I turned them on from 1 to 3 this morning. >> Okay, do you know what road you're on right now? >> Yeah, I'm on 100. >> You're on 100? >> Yeah. >> Okay, can you go ahead and pull the car over for me and stop on the shoulder? We're going to go over there, okay? We're going to go over there for the breath. >> you willing to participate in these field sobriety exercises? >> Um no. >> No? >> No, not without an attorney. Um but I >> Okay, so you're not willing to participate in any kind of field sobriety exercises? >> I mean, what does that mean? Like I don't know what >> Field sobriety exercises. So, there's just a couple exercises that >> Okay. >> You just participated in. >> Yeah, you participate, you run through. It's basically exercises that you can prove that you're able to drive behind the wheel and get home safely and not injure or kill anybody else on the road tonight. >> Okay, and if I told that is what? >> Well, if you refuse to do them, then we have to >> make a decision >> decision off of what we have already. >> indicators we've seen and driving pattern. >> Okay. >> So, it's it's your it's your choice. We're not going to force >> I mean, I feel fine. Like I'm okay. Like yeah. Not like impaired or anything. So, do I need to just do the >> It's like we said, it's your choice. You can participate in the exercises, you cannot participate in the exercises. >> Okay, yeah. I'll participate. >> Yeah, for sure. All right. Do me a favor, go ahead and stand on this line in front of me. >> You stand in front of me? >> 552225 >> Yeah, you're going to stand with your feet together, arms down by your side. >> Okay. >> All right, do you have any medical conditions >> She noted FST started at 55. >> or anything like that? >> Yeah. >> You do wear Are you wearing contacts right now? >> Yeah. >> Okay. Do you have any medical conditions that would hinder you from participating in any of these field sobriety >> No. >> Okay. First exercise that you're going to do is you're going to follow the top of this stimulus. Can you go ahead and point to the top of the stimulus so I know you can I know you know where you're looking. >> Yeah. >> Okay. So, what you're going to do is you're going to follow with your eyes and your eyes only, okay? Do not move your head. You understand these instructions that I've been giving to you. You're going to keep your arms down by your side, correct? So, you're going to follow the tip of the pen when I say go. Ready and go. Follow with your eyes and your eyes only. Okay. Same thing, you're going to follow the tip of the pen with your eyes and your eyes only. You're just going to go up and down. Okay? >> Okay. >> All right, next exercise is going to be the walk and turn. I'm going to demonstrate it for you, okay? For demonstrative purposes, I'm only going to be doing five steps, okay? For the exercise, we're going to be doing nine. Can I actually want to adjust? Go ahead and stand on this line. You're going to face away from me. Stand on this line facing this way. >> very uneven to me. Robert, you can see there's a line here, right? >> Well, now I am. >> All right, well, that's >> It does look very uneven to me. I can stand on it. >> Well, I mean, like there's I guess probably >> Well, you're going to I didn't say anything, but you're going to be standing on the line. >> Okay. >> What you're going to do, we're going to go turn around and we're going to go that way, okay? >> Okay. >> So, you're going to stand on the line. Left foot on the line, you're going to put your right foot heel to toe. It's going to look like this. >> So, okay. >> Okay. Put your left foot directly on the line. >> Okay. >> Okay. Right foot heel to toe. >> So, like that. >> Yep. And stay there. Stay there with your hands down by All right. I'm going to be going this way to show you what to do, okay? So, you're going to start left foot, right foot in front heel to toe. When I tell you, you're going to take nine steps forward and you're going to count with each step. For the demonstration purposes, I'm only going to do five. Okay. Here you go. One, two, three, four, five. On your last one, you're going to take a series of small steps with your left foot. You're going to come back the same way. One, two, three, four, five. Like I said, for demonstration purposes, I only did five. You're going to do nine. >> Okay. >> You can keep your hands down by your side the entire time. >> Okay. >> Go ahead and get in position. >> Okay. So, last part, like you said, on this we're going to do nine steps. >> Don't start until I tell you. >> Oh, okay. Sorry. >> So, left foot on the line, right foot in front of your left heel to toe. >> Okay. Ready. So, one, >> Don't start until I tell you. Get in position. >> I have dyslexia, by the way. Also, I have a learning disability, so >> Okay. >> Okay. >> So, so you just You just go ahead and get in position. Left foot on line, right foot in front >> Left foot on the line, right foot >> Okay. Sounds simple. >> It does. It is. >> All right. So, your left foot's on the line. Put your right foot on the line in front of you, touching other heel. >> You're going to look like this. Don't start walking until I tell you. >> I get you. >> Okay. So, left foot on the line, put your right foot in front of your left heel to toe. If it's easier for you, you can take your shoes off for this. >> Okay. I don't have to wear shoes or like stupid sandals. But my feet are sweaty, so no problem. Okay. So, left foot on the line. >> on the line. >> Right foot in front of your left heel to toe. When you say start, you can get you can get into position. So, left foot on the line, right foot in front of your left heel to toe. >> Ooh. Okay, so put your right foot in front of me. >> Put your right foot in front of your left heel to toe. >> Oh, I'm sorry. >> You're going to take nine a series of nine steps. On your last step, you can do the series of small steps come back nine. You're going to count with each step. Do you understand the instructions as they've been given to you? >> Yeah. >> Okay. Okay. You start. >> Four. Five. Six. I have nerve nerve damage too, by the way. >> Okay. >> Um It's all in my body. I'm not counting, by the way. >> Okay. >> But I'm sneaky. Like I don't know if you guys can tell that I have nerve damage in my left leg. And >> Do you remember the instructions that have been given to you? >> Yeah. So, you said start on left foot on the line, and then the right foot in front of the um I would say in front of my heel. Nine steps. Turn around, and then whatever. But I'm wobbly because I have nerve damage. I have like the carpal tunnel and I have like all the nerve damage. But >> We can start back if you want. >> No, just continue from where you left off. >> Okay. So, left foot right foot, right? >> Yeah, you can you can leave off at >> I'm >> You can start at whatever number you thought that you were at. >> All right. So, left foot and then right and so on. Two three four five six seven eight nine and then turn. And then I'm doing the same thing. Right foot and then I'm so super tall you can count, but three four five six seven eight nine right and then >> The next exercise is going to be the one legged stance. You're going to stand on this line with your feet together. other hand down by your side. >> So, both feet >> Yeah, just like that. Yep, and when I tell you you're going to lift either foot, does not matter which foot, approximately 6 in off the ground about the side of a about the height of a soda can. You're going to look down at that foot and you're going to count 1 1,000, 1 >> Okay. So, like if I'm like right here right now it's going to be like left leg and then >> Whichever leg you decide. >> Okay. Okay. So, do I say do you say right >> Yep, I say right. >> Okay. >> So, feet together. Put your feet together now, hands down by your side. When I tell you to, lift one foot approximately 6 in off the ground. You're going to count 1 1,000, 1 1,000 2, 1 1,000 3, 1 1,000 4 till I tell you to stop. Do you understand the instructions that have been given to you? All right. And you can start. >> It's scenario like I'm shaking. >> Okay. So last exercise you're going to keep your feet down nice and feet together. Okay? You're going to put your hands out like this. You're going to put your fingers out like this. So index fingers pointing out, okay? You're going to tilt your head back and you're going to close your eyes. I'm not going to close my eyes for the demonstration, okay? I'm going to keep them open. So what you're going to do is you're going to close your head back, close your eyes, and when I tell you which hand, you're going to take that index finger and touch the tip of your nose. Okay. Okay? Go ahead and tilt head back, close your eyes. Okay. You're going to go right. And you can put your finger back out and put your finger back. Left. Keep your eyes closed. Put your finger back after you touch your nose. Don't move your finger until I tell you a direction. So head back, eyes closed, right. Put your finger back after you touch your nose. Head back, eyes closed. Head back, eyes closed. Okay. Left. Put your finger back. Left. Oh, left. Sorry. Put your finger back. >> Right. I'm sorry. Can you start the actually I'm like confused like what what you were saying exactly. So you said like when we're >> Did you understand the instructions that she provided? >> think I did actually. >> So >> So what is the What's the You said close Tell me how fast. >> Tilt your head back and >> Close my eyes. >> When I give you >> You're not going to close your eyes you said so for the demonstration. Okay. >> When I gave you the demonstration >> Yes. >> You have your hands out like this and I had you pointed out. >> How many times? >> How many times? >> Yep. Cuz I'm like confused like I I did was confused a little bit. I will say I was confused a little bit. >> Okay. So just to give you the benefit of the doubt I'm going to demonstrate it and I'll close my eyes. I trust that you're not going to try to hurt me. So you tilt your head I I know. Fingers pointed down. You tilt your head back close your eyes. >> Okay. >> I need you to watch your hand. Watch me. So that way you understand the instructions. Whatever hand she calls you're going to bring it up touch the tip of your nose and come back down. >> My eyes closed the whole time and head Okay. Got it. >> Entire time. And head tilted back. >> Head tilted back hands on my side with your fingers pointed out. >> Okay. >> Hands down like by your side fingers pointed out. Okay. Head tilted back eyes closed. >> Okay. >> Okay. We're going to go right. Then put your finger back down by your side once I call one of them. >> Oh, I got you. Okay. >> Left. Right. Left. Left. Right. Right. All right. >> I'm sorry. That's like >> Right And you're being placed under arrest for driving under the influence, ma'am. >> Watch out, 222 flagger. >> Ma'am, put your shoes on. >> We'll send back shots, too. >> I like that bikini. >> Copy. >> Watch out, 222 back. >> Back. >> All right, now it's 222. >> She's 10-15. >> I could smell it when she got out. I couldn't smell it at the window. >> Yeah, when she walked up there, I got it. >> I'm not going to be talking to you based off of your performance during the field sobriety exercises as well. Uh you've proven to me that you cannot operate behind a vehicle. Thank you. Do you have anything on your person that can be considered contraband in here? Okay, do you have anything on your person that can be considered contraband when we get to the station? >> I'm sorry. >> Any nicotine, tobacco, vape, anything like that? >> Yes, anything like that would be considered contraband in here. >> All right, lean up against the car for me. All right, spread your feet. >> I mean, spread them out. How much more do you want me to spread them? >> Spread them. >> It's exactly flat where my bony ass is. Look at that rock. >> And um Hey Court, can you go on the jail channel and see if they have a BTO group? Sit. >> You have a tendency to throw up in your car. >> Do you have anyone in the area who lives here that would be able to pick up your car? >> I can throw up in the car. >> Can you drive or can you have somebody come bring him to get your car? >> Can I drive? Did you just ask me >> He drives. >> That's weird. Stick them in your ear. In my car? >> Need it. >> Um Um Do you mind >> I mean, how was the car doing? See if somebody is picking it up. >> No, we're going to tow it. >> Okay. >> Um >> Okay. >> But take that for evidence. >> Okay. >> So we'll take it for evidence. Um even though she had already admitted to drinking and everything else, so >> Uh we're going to ask her too if she wants her phone or his wallet or anything like that. >> We'll just we'll grab it for her. >> Okay. >> And that way there's no question, so Um Let me just Yeah, we'll grab that real quick and grab gloves. Yeah, it's going to be the key in the car. So Put that Make sure she doesn't have anything valuable. >> And it's 12:56 a.m. >> No valuables in the console. >> Okay. Just for the vehicle this morning. >> Yeah, um there's that JBL speaker. We'll just notate that. >> JBL speaker? >> Yeah, we'll bring her purse. Well, >> This one? I just checked this one, nothing's in there. >> What's that one? >> This one has the uh makeup and stuff in it. >> Oh, that's just the makeup bag. Leave that one. What's in that purse? That's the actual purse. >> Makeup bag. >> Um some nice towels and >> She had a little >> Huh? >> 526 124 >> Is there a trunk release over there? >> No. >> No. In the glove box? She's got a bunch of clothes. Well, hey. I mean, I don't know if this is or not, but here's more. It's not in the car with her, but clearly she's got a got a drinking problem. So. >> So, she's got a second speaker? >> Yeah, there's another JBL. So, two JBL speakers, there's a bunch of clothes. >> This looks like it's been in here for a while. Ooh, sauce. All right. Um Let's just make sure Just the one 12 oz thing. >> Yeah, and then a one shot. >> How far we got there? >> Yeah. Oh, I didn't put this window up. >> Oh. >> Sorry. Uh, all right. >> I don't think we got anything in here either. >> Oh, yeah. Of course, am I good to go to the jail or >> Um yes. >> Did they say if they had one or not? >> Yes, they do. >> Cool. >> She She did have a knife. I asked her and she said no. >> It was in her purse. I threw it in there. >> Yeah, okay. >> At that first I thought she was going to take that purse. >> Um the only thing >> car. >> Yes. Uh >> These two were in the trunk. That one was under the passenger seat. >> And that was in the front floorboard. >> Front passenger floorboard. >> Okay. >> all of them. >> All right, but I'm I'm good. >> Yeah. >> to get her to blow if she >> All right. Um let me just grab you. >> her ID. >> I would at least submit the two that were in the compartment with her. Yeah, that usually happens especially when they're inebriated. Once she was out there and like walked by me, I was like, "Oh my god." How bad how strong it was off the person. >> she got out of there I And then I I stood there while I was standing there. She like looks over and gets startled that I'm there and I'm like, "You know your highbeams are on?" And then when I told her to turn off the car she she uh touched the wiper. >> Yeah. >> Or the lights or whatever. Which I thought was on this side. >> was talking to Sergeant Zapata and maybe I shouldn't have said search speech. It was definitely like slurred speech. So, her she was slow to her responses and like >> She also did the She did 18 steps on the walking turn. Which didn't count at all. >> That's good. >> So, I'm going to get her to go to jail so she can blow cuz probably going to blow a good amount if she blows. >> Yeah. >> She just asked to blow so >> Okay, good. Good job. Thank you. >> We got six cop cars here. Sure. Wow. By the way, how do you feel? weeks to your tax payers money. [ __ ] Flagler residency put a stop to this [ __ ] these cops. So, revolution. 1 2 3 4 5 6 cop cars. All for me? One person, guys? Flagler County needs to rethink their allowance on some cops. So, say hi, man. I'm [ __ ] >> I'm going to read you these, okay? So, these are your rights. You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say may be used against you in a court of law. You have the right to talk to an attorney. Have him or her with you now anytime during questioning. If you cannot afford an attorney, one will be appointed to represent you. If at anytime you wish to stop talking or have an attorney present, all questioning will be stopped at your request. Do you understand these rights? >> Oh, so now I can stop talking. >> Do you understand these rights? I need a yes or a no. >> Or does it matter? >> So, I need a yes or a no. >> Or does it matter? >> I need a yes or a no. >> under arrest, girl. >> I know. So, I need a yes or a no. >> Or does it matter? >> I need a yes or a no. Do you understand your rights? >> understand them now. >> Okay. These are your rights. You have your rights >> them. >> Okay. >> If you do not understand them, I need an attorney present. >> Okay. So, you don't understand them? >> I need an attorney. >> Do you need me to read them to you again? >> I need an attorney. >> Okay. All right. >> You have to like explain anything or tell >> You want an attorney, I'm done talking to you. >> When can I make a phone call if I want to? >> I don't work in the jail. That's what they control. I work on the road. >> So, when can I talk to an attorney? When can I talk to an person, I don't know. Who can I talk to someone that understands the jail though, too? I can ask I can ask him to come back in. >> ask him questions since Shelby you don't know. >> It's deputy or ma'am? >> You don't >> I can try to explain as best as I can. >> questions. I don't >> I She can not >> I don't I will try to answer as best as I can. >> Okay. So, I would like to get bail out tonight. >> Mhm. >> I have friends to come and get me. >> Okay. >> I need to figure out where my car is not going cuz they decided to tow my car instead of letting a family member come and get it cuz they did not give me that option to do so and that is correct. So, who can I talk to tonight to get either a family member to bail me out and also get my car and out? I need to know how I can do this. >> I don't know exactly where your car was impounded. It could be Roger Selling or >> Okay. >> That could be that. Once they finish the booking process I'm going to give you a pin number that you can use to follow that and you can make as many calls as you need to and whoever you need to reach out to. >> So, the Miranda rights that she just read me, I don't understand. I've already been arrested so is that supposed to be beforehand? >> I got >> When they arrest me is when I understand that it's >> No, so Miranda rights Miranda rights are given to you when I am going to be asking you interrogating questions. It's so you are under the So, you know >> arrested me and brought me to the jail >> Okay, listen Okay, listen to me. I'm explaining to you what the Miranda rights are. If you stop talking and listen to me then maybe you'll understand, okay? Your Miranda rights are read to you before I ask you any self-incriminating questions. Before you got here, I have not asked you any self-incriminating questions. Your rights are read to you before I ask you those questions so that you understand your rights and you get to decide whether or not you want to talk to me. >> Did you guys arrest me because I have a hip in >> Nope, that's not nope. >> You said I failed the sobriety test, is what you told me. >> Exercises. >> Exercises. Which I told you which I don't know which ones I failed, which was pretty crazy other than the ones that I couldn't read your directions of the you know, the eyes closed and whatever else. That's the only thing that I would have failed because just also because I have nerve damage. >> Okay, but there were other indicators as to why you were placed >> It's fine, which that's why I'm definitely going to get an attorney to fight all that. >> That's fine and that's your >> But then you guys still arrested me and took me to jail here. That's why I'm here. But why am I here? Because I failed the sobriety test, according to you guys. I failed that. >> You're here cuz you were placed under arrest for driving under the influence based off the indicators you gave me and my fellow deputies. And my corporal. And a sergeant. That is why you're here. So again, I can read you your rights again if you'd like. >> Okay. >> Okay. >> And if I say that I don't agree and don't understand, which I still don't really understand, what does that mean anymore? >> Then I don't ask you any questions. I don't talk to you. >> You don't talk to me. >> Nope. >> And there's nothing that hinders anything else from me calling my family member or calling my son. >> That's all that is all once you're booked in. Right now, I'm still doing my investigation. >> Yeah. >> Okay. So I'm going to read you these, okay? >> And if I still say I don't understand, which I don't understand them, then so what's the what what's your purpose anymore at this point? >> I just need a clear yes or no that you do not understand your rights. I don't need a I don't understand because I'm already here. I need a yes, I understand. No, I don't understand. >> understand. >> Okay. >> So we're done here. So, it's your law. I don't call you by your Stephanie or whatever, but I need What's the law? >> Don't call me by my first name. You're just demanding that I call you by your first name. No, it's it's a respect thing. I'm not your friend. I'm not your family. You don't call me by my first name. >> I'm not your friend and I'm not your friend. So, I think I'll use Shelby. It's not a respect I don't respect you because I don't agree with what you guys did, Stephanie. >> That's fine. You don't have to agree. >> But you were demanding you were demanding me to call you Stephanie whatever your last name is. I'm going to call you Shelby because I don't respect you. >> Okay. >> So, and yeah. I'm back here. I mean like I'm listening to that music on the way here like some booty hot music. Like that's not appropriate. I feel like that's me. >> Okay. I'm sorry you feel that way. >> As a tax payer and a home owner, I will demand a law. And I'll get like a group that will get signed a petition that says you people pick us up especially for [ __ ] like absolutely absurd. You should not be listening to certain type of music in your car. >> Mhm. >> And you sure shouldn't have to. Oh, that's another story. Anyway, any who, tax payers. >> Mhm. >> I have enough people in the community that I know. So. >> In the end, she was arrested and booked on DUI and refusal to submit charges. She spent the night in jail posting a $1,250 bond for her release the next day. The case is still open and making its way through the courts, and as in all cases, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty. >> Flashing lights approaching, sirens in the dawn. Cruising through the city till the night is gone. Heartbeats in the static under blue lights. On the service highway, we respond tonight.
