I'm >> in my car for us. >> Where? >> He did survive his injuries. >> Take me. You can take me. I my son. Oh no. Have mercy on me. >> This mother had just cut her son's life short in a violent, ragefilled attack. Tragically, she's not the only disturbed soul to descend to such a dark state, nor the only one capable of committing an unthinkable act against the people they're supposed to protect at all cost. >> Did you put them in the bathtub? [music] I stood him up in there. He stood him up in there. Yeah. So his feet got really messed up. You know your soft layer of your skin on your feet? [music] It bubbled up. How long been in the freezer? >> 2 years. I want to say 2 years. We were only one month, you know, to [music] the day. >> These were the moments when parents ended their own children. We begin with a case in which a mother's disturbing actions [music] ultimately cost her son his life. All over a senseless and tragic motive. NO, IT'S SAFE TO DO. >> SAFE TO DO. >> NO, I don't care if you do. >> I will tell you, unfortunately, your son did not make it. >> Oh, God. >> I'm so I'm so sorry. >> On February 19th, 2024, officers were dispatched to an apartment complex following reports of a Upon arrival, they discovered the lifeless body of 21-year-old Jiad lying on the cold ground and covered in blood, while his mother, Laandra Williams, stood beside him in shock. What officers did not yet know was the disturbing sequence of events that had led to that moment or how the mother's reckless behavior would ultimately be at the center of the tragedy. >> Is he okay? Is he okay? >> It's in my car. I >> Where? Which car? >> The red one. >> Red car. Okay. Step over there. >> No, I don't care. Mom with your mom. >> Go inside. >> I got one down out in front. The mom's out here with me. Uh I got several people inside the apartment. >> You okay, boss? >> Is he okay? >> Is he alive? >> Is [laughter] he alive? Back away. >> No, he's not. Jesus. >> Back away. >> Hey, the mom's over there. Scare her. >> Lady in a gray t-shirt. That's mom. Go ahead and scare her. >> No. No. Gray t-shirt. 40ome year old lady. >> You see her? >> Mom was walking right there. >> Black shirt on. >> That's fine. Grab. That's mom. Okay. Somebody supposedly in the red vehicle over there. I have not cleared the apartment upstairs yet. >> Tragically, Jiad did not survive, succumbing to his injuries at the scene. What began as a reported had now become a homicide case demanding [music] swift and deliberate action from the responding officers. >> Nobody's else upstairs. >> Okay. >> Mom supposedly son. Apparently, this is son. This is sisters or relatives here. They're coming down to >> pick him up. >> Jiad Hughes is his name. I don't know how old he is. >> Is he the only person? >> Only only person we know right now. >> Yeah, it's upper right shoulder. It's high in the shoulder right here going that way. Only victim we know right here, >> suspect. >> Okay, >> I got the pair. I'll do the doors. >> Yep. >> No medical attention. You don't need it. You don't have You might have a pocket knife on you. >> Right here. >> Yeah. >> I don't know where. >> Got it. >> Anything else on you? >> No. >> Okay. All right. Have a seat. Your head down there. Watch your head. Watch your head. >> Okay. She got oil on her. Hot oil. >> No. >> Okay. >> All right. I'm going to put this in your car. >> Excuse me. >> Yes, ma'am. >> Can you get me out? Can you get me out of here? I mean to throw up. >> Okay. One second. >> Please. Please. God. Please. God. Oh [laughter] god. Oh god. Jesus. Oh god. Oh god. Oh god. >> GET SOME AIR. >> NO. PLEASE GOD. OH GOD. Oh god. [laughter] Yeah. Oh god. Please go. >> Okay. One thing at a time. >> You don't know. [laughter] >> One thing at a time. Oh. >> Oh. >> All right. What is your first name? Luandro Williams. >> What? >> Luandro Williams. >> Can you spell it? >> L A Q U A U N D R. >> Yes. >> I don't even know what happened. >> Um, I came home from from work. I work I own a business and my son drove my car today. I asked him how I asked him how where he take my car to cuz I the I got my car fixed this weekend. And he went answer me and I said I I I I I said I'm talking to you. I'm talking to you. He wouldn't answer me and he don't like my boyfriend. He said I'm going to kill you and your boyfriend. It's we were fighting in my living room. He never meant that to me. And then he he I have a he has a minds too. Like we always get into like I don't believe this is happening. Like I can't even cry. Like that's my child. Like you don't know. God have mercy my head. What in the world is happening? >> With the woman in custody, officers turned their attention to the family members who had witnessed the tragedy. It was through Jiad's sister's account that a far colder picture began to emerge. One that exposed the unsettling detachment behind the mother's actions. >> What was your name? >> Her name is Luan. >> Your name? >> My name is Maya. >> Maya? [laughter] >> Yes. She [laughter] >> What was your last name? You [laughter] >> Dad, I need you. >> Yes, he is. [laughter] >> Oh, >> I need you, Dad. [laughter] >> I know. I'm in Texas, but [laughter] yes, I see him. He was on the floor. He was breathless. >> [laughter] >> No, they [laughter] [laughter] she's in the police car. She's in the car in front of me. [laughter] [clears throat] [snorts] >> No, I told them not to let her say that because she She [laughter] one detective. I'm detective number [music] one. How old are you? >> I'm 20. >> 20. Okay. >> Yeah. >> And what happened today? >> So, I was in my room when everything was happening at first until it started getting bad. My sister started screaming my name. So, I was like halfway going to sleep. And I just heard my mom coming in the house screaming like about her car cuz my brother I had just wrecked my car. So my brother been trying to been driving this to school in her car cuz he didn't want to drive his car. >> Mhm. >> So he was he drove her car earlier and she came back in the house like what what's wrong with my car? [music] But I'm sure it's nothing wrong with her car cuz she just be like kind of crazy. >> She like diagnosed issue. >> No, it's not diagnosed but it needs to be. >> Okay. >> So um she came in the house and she was yelling at him and His [music] name again, >> his name is Jiar. G A I mean J A H A A A D. >> Okay. So, she was yelling at him. How old is he? >> He's 21. >> 21. >> Yeah. So, she came in the house and she was yelling at him and he wasn't responding to her because when my mom get to yelling at us, like we don't respond cuz if we if we start yelling back, she's going to escalate cuz she always she has a real record of like us. I'm not going to lie. According to the sister, this was not the first time Laandra had behaved erratically toward her children. For years, they had endured instability and troubling behavior that without proper intervention ultimately escalated into a tragic loss of life. >> So like we just don't respond to her when she yelling like we wait till her to stop yelling when it escalates and then talk. So she J wasn't responding at all. So she started and take his like I guess she was trying to take his AirPods out of his ear. Well, that's what he told me cuz I wasn't in there for that. But I would asked her after I asked him like what happened after she was outside. Hold on, let me get to it. But I asked her I had asked him what happened. She was trying to take his AirPods out her ear and he wasn't letting her and she started trying to hit him. >> So that's when it escalated in the kitchen. Then she had got the knife cuz J was like pinning her down like wasn't let him and you know she was she was getting mad cuz she she was he was blocking her hits. So she had grabbed the knife and she was trying to so he trying to get the knife away from her. >> Did you see that part? >> Yeah. >> Okay. So, so we was trying to get the knife away from her and she was trying to slap him, but my brother kept telling me to like get back, get back. And >> yeah, J, the one that was the one that shot. So, like he told me to step back. So, I stepped back and after he got the knife away from her, she was trying to grab more stuff, but I ended up grabbing the knife cuz we have the knife, you know, multiple knives up in that that stand thing. So, she was trying to grab that. So, I grabbed it and she was trying to grab the our little coffee holder to throw it at him. But I grabbed that, too. So, she was trying to him after he had ended up uh getting the knife away from her. She was still like trying to punch him and stuff like that. So, he ended up slamming her on the floor and like pinning her to the ground so she can stop. And afterwards, um after he was pinning her down, he was just telling her like, "I'm not a little boy. You're not going to keep hitting your hands, putting your hands on me." And then after um he had ended up letting her get up. So, she went downstairs to grab her gun. And I didn't let her. She was walking back upstairs, but I didn't let her come upstairs. I locked I locked her outside. >> She come in. Okay. So, she came outside to get her gun. >> She went outside and that red car that red truck over there by the great two grand. That's her car. >> Okay. >> And she went to go grab her gun and then she was walking downstairs. But I wasn't going to let her shoot him. So, I locked the door from her. I locked her outside. >> And [snorts] hold on, I'm talking really fast. But I locked her outside and she was screaming like she was she was just trying to get in the house like, "Get me my phone or give me my keys." But she already had her keys. So I I just wasn't letting her in the house. So Jiad, the reason why he ended up outside cuz he was trying to leave. Do you see his bags over there? His bags are probably on the floor. >> Where at? >> Over there where over there where she shot him. >> Which car? >> Um the red car all the way at the back between the two Impalas. >> Yeah. So J was trying to get his stuff to leave. Like he was he wasn't even trying to go do nothing. He was leaving. So he he had his bags and everything and I was telling him not to go outside but he didn't think of course nobody going to think their mom is about to shoot them. >> So he went downstairs anyways as he was trying to leave and when when he went outside I heard the gun he was like ah and then I seen him from the balcony on the floor and she was trying >> you see him get shot or >> no I heard it. [music] >> You just heard it >> and I went out to the balcony like I was by the door when when I heard the gunshot cuz I was still holding the door locked. Uh-huh. >> Yeah. [snorts] >> So, when I heard the gun, I went I went ran to the balcony and I see him [music] on the floor and she was like trying to >> Are you on the in balcony here? >> The balcony? Yeah. Right there with the two chairs. >> Uhhuh. Yeah. >> So, you ran out there and you saw >> I saw him on the floor and she was she was trying to help him on the ground. >> The concrete. Where was he exactly? >> Do you want me to get out? >> Well, just kind of tell me like straight >> in front of actually like in front of in front of those two cars right there at the end. >> Okay. >> Yeah. Yeah, she was trying to trying to help him and stuff like I don't know what she was trying to she look she looked like she was trying to help him even though she shot him. >> Lewandra's reasons for the fatal act were unbelievable. What began as an argument and escalated into an attempt to stab Jiad ultimately ending in his was not something [music] that happened suddenly. The woman was in a deeply disturbing state of mind driven by a simmering fatal anger toward her children. [music] It was now time to question Laandra in the hope that her side of the story might reveal hidden details of what had happened. However, her account only [music] exposed even more of her disturbing mindset. >> All right, you can take a seat back there for me. >> Oh my goodness. [laughter] Look at this life. [snorts] >> Do y'all know anything about my son? >> No, unfortunately. >> As soon as we get an update, we'll let you know. >> [snorts] >> Uh, Robinson, turn the car back on. [clears throat] >> All right, you're good. Is >> there anything I can do to help you? >> No. Please get to the shoulder. Okay, >> step this way for me. going around the back and then you follow the other officer right here. >> I'm This is Paulina coming in here. Um we're going to read you your rights. Have you ever had to give before? >> No. Okay. Well, we'll go over kind of slowly to make sure you understand them all. asked a couple goofy questions at the beginning of it. Um, so just bear with us. I'm going to give you this so you can follow along though with us. Can you tell me what happened? >> Um, so I was leaving my I came home early in between my two clients and J used my car and I asked him where he took my car at cuz he took my car to like at the shop and left it there. And I said, "Well, did you leave how long did you leave it there?" and what what did they do? My car is not ro riding away. I just got my car fixed. So, he wouldn't answer me. So, I walked back to the room and I went back into the living room where he was at and he he got up to he got up to like grab his stuff >> and I said, "I'm talking to you. Answer me." And so, I threw a glass, but I it went over to his head like a candle, but it went over. He said it didn't touch him. Okay. >> And then he grabbed me up and threw me in the li which was something where he never ever ever done >> and we have had arguments but he never ever put his hands on me ever. >> Mhm. >> And I was trying to get him off of me. I was getting a knife because I know like he's stronger than I am. Way stronger than my I know. >> Raandra's recount of the event did not match what Jiad's sisters had told officers. There was a reason for Jiad to grab her. After being threatened by his own mother with a knife, he had to react to protect himself and his sisters. But Laandra took this fact out of the picture to selfishly protect herself. >> And out of hand, I got it. >> Well, I will tell you, unfortunately, your son did not make it. >> Oh, I'm so I'm so sorry. Oh, what? >> They worked on him for at least close to an hour. >> Take me. >> But he didn't survive his injuries. >> Take me. You can take me. I don't deserve it. He didn't either. Yo, I'm Yeah, I I know the pressures and I feel like that's what happened to me. I feel like you just snapped cuz you just got so angry [laughter and snorts] and everything. No, y'all. [snorts] What? Y'ALL SAYING TO GO FOR REAL? NO. I my son. Oh no. Mm-m. I'm not going to believe that. And I kind of figured something was going on cuz nobody talked to me while I was out there. I'm like, tell me what's going on. [snorts] >> Well, those guys aren't allowed to. >> I did not mean to do that to I [clears throat] did not mean to do that. I did not mean to do that, y'all. At this point, Luandra tried to deny what had happened, clinging to the hope that her son's wasn't real. But as the reality of the tragedy slowly settled upon her, the full weight of her actions began to press down, punishing her in ways she could no longer ignore [snorts] my [gasps and sighs] [laughter] Oh god. [laughter] [snorts] >> SO [gasps] JESUS [laughter] HAVE MERCY on me. [laughter] >> Forgive me. >> In the end, Laandra was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole after 18 years. [music] Moving on to the next case where a mother showed the world just how far a disturbed mind can go after locking her own children in a freezer for years. >> After you finish holding them, what did you do with Steven's body? I put >> it in the freezer. >> You what? >> Put it in the freezer. >> At what point do you put Steven in a freezer? >> On March 24th, 2015, officers from the Wayne County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to an apartment complex in Detroit to enforce the court-ordered eviction of 35-year-old Michelle Angela Blair. Upon arrival, the woman's unusual behavior immediately raised red flags. Deciding to enter the apartment to investigate further, officers discovered something far more disturbing than they could have anticipated. Inside a freezer were Stony and Steven, Michelle's children. The horrifying sight of the two children crammed into a tiny freezer shocked the officers, and Michelle was immediately taken into custody. During the investigation, the disturbed woman would reveal details that exposed just how deeply rotten her mind was. >> I'm going ask a couple questions if you don't mind. Okay. >> Uh, can I ask one? >> Sure. All right. My kids [clears throat] still here. >> Um, you know what? I can't ask for it right now. But but I I can find out. >> Soon as we're done, I'll make sure you know all that information. Okay. Let me uh we I got to take care of this first. Okay. And then you could tell me anything you want to take. But I got some um administrative things that I got to let you know about like your constitutional rights. Before you say anything to me, you have rights. And I'm going to read these to you. >> Good. Okay. >> Cuz I already know that. Come on. I'm good. >> Where are your other two kids, Stony and Steven? >> At my house. At the old house. >> When you say my house, what do you mean? [clears throat] >> At the house. Yes. >> Where in your house are they? >> Freezer. >> Who put them in there? >> Michelle's demeanor was shocking. She had kept her two children in a freezer, sleeping each night peacefully, [music] fully aware of what she had done. Yet, she showed no remorse during questioning. Her behavior was chilling, exposing just how deeply disturbed she truly was. >> Why did you do that? cuz they along with the other things. >> When you say they, who are you referring to? >> Not molesting. I mean, literally having sex with them. >> And what else did you say? >> Just the little things that they did to him. I know, but I missed something that you said that they [music] they were literally having sex with them. You said you said not molesting. >> Molesting literally. >> You said not molesting. >> Not molesting cuz molesting is just touching like it wasn't molesting. They were flat out him had been going on for years since was in diapers. How did you uh [clears throat] how did you become aware that he was getting when I came home one day was basically saying come look he was he wasn't doing it by the time I went in the living room but she said show mom what you was doing. >> How [music] how did you become aware of it? >> Came home they rushed to the front door and was like mom >> when was this? >> This was this was a while ago. This incident didn't just happen. When you say a while ago, was it a year, two years, a month? >> Around [music] there. >> Around where? >> Um, year or two. >> According to Michelle, the reason she ended her children's lives was that they were allegedly assaulting her youngest child. She claimed that the abuse had been going on for years under her watch and ultimately ended with the two kids inside a freezer for roughly 2 years. So you came home about two years ago saying look doing so I told him to show me what he was doing and I asked him why he was making the dolls each other. I asked him but somebody do that to you and he said no at first and he said yes and he put his head down. So I looked at him I'm just and I just asked him who the you know what I mean. So there he was playing with two dolls. No, his little wrestle, you know, the little wrestle figures. His, you know, how boys play with their toys. >> And he was making each other. >> He had n I know I don't know why he acted it out like that. It's just I don't want nobody to think that anything's wrong with my son. You get what I'm saying? Cuz there's nothing wrong. >> No, nobody nobody's making any judgments. I just want you to tell me what happened. Nobody's passing any judgments. >> I know. cuz like to read it when they read. They're not going to understand like >> No, listen. Listen. That's why I want to record exactly what you tell me, okay? So, nobody's passing any judgment on your son or on you or anybody. Okay? We just want to know what happened. Okay? >> So, just feel comfortable telling me what happened. I want you to make nothing up or think about how it's going to look. I just want you to tell me so we can help you. Okay? And we can help your son if he needs it. So I went upstairs with and I asked him was you on your brother or your brother would you brother and >> so you as somebody did that to him? >> Yes. >> Like why are you playing like that? I told him that's nasty as hell. Why are you playing with that? I said somebody do that to you first? He said no. And he had his head on and he said yes. And But I asked him who and he said I just went straight upstairs with him or all three of us. And I'm asking like no I'm not you know so I'm looking at the both of them and I said what I understand was you got to understand a lot younger than you was like over a year ago and he had to be quiet about all this time. So when he's telling me, he's getting loud. He's like, "Yes, he did." Yes, he really did this to you. Why didn't you tell me? Because they said they was going to kill me and he beat me up. I'm l I told him to tell me the truth before I beat the hell out of him. And he says, "Well, I on him, but that's it." And then he said, "No, it's not." And I said, "Did you ever pull his underwear down? Did you pull this underwear now? No. Like, yes, you did. I just remember walking out the room. >> No, I mean, I remember everything else. I'm just saying. It's like I couldn't I couldn't say I wasn't I wasn't like out of my I wasn't out of my mind. You understand? When do you think this was? >> Roughly 2 years ago. >> At this point, Michelle was portraying herself as a protective mother who had sadly discovered the horrors unfolding in her home. However, the truth was far deeper and more disturbing than her account. According to autopsies and Michelle's older daughter, Gabby Blair, the children were actually the victims. The investigation revealed that the children bore scars from brutal attacks, and Gabby further explained that the alleged assault involving her younger brother never happened. Instead, their mother had become obsessed with the story, later pressuring her little brother to repeat her version of events. The investigation also confirmed that the young boy showed no signs of abuse on his body. >> So, you go upstairs, you confront your other son, and he says, "No, I didn't do it." >> Yeah. He's like, "No, I didn't." >> So, what did you what did you do at that point? I sat on the floor for a while by the edge of the door and I kept I just remember I kept going what the look but they did this to him every day every night. What did you do after that? Did you do did you take any physical action towards >> not just yet and then I just closed the door telling me everything. And I went back upstairs and I opened the door cuz I totally believed him and I know that's what he had did. Told me things that after crying out now it makes sense. You get what I'm saying? It's like certain things I'm like what's wrong? It's or he crying or he fell out the bunk bed and I'm fussing to him take toys away from him. It's like I'm He didn't even do it. Push him out the It just totally >> Okay. So, I asked you if you took any physical actions towards said not just Yeah. You took downstairs. He told you more stuff. >> I went back upstairs after I heard I couldn't. >> But what did you do when you went back upstairs? >> I punched him. I just kept punching him. Punching. Yes. How long been in the freezer? 2 years. I want to say 2 years. >> You said almost 2 years or 2 years. >> I want to say 2 years. >> How long has been in the freezer? >> About a [music] year. She died on May 25th. August 30th. You said about one year. >> Yes. >> She died when? >> On um May 25th >> of what year? >> Last year. >> It would have to be. I'm just a blur. >> When? >> August 30th. >> What day was that, ma'am? >> August 30th. >> Of what year? 2012. >> Michelle's callous behavior while recounting the sequence of events was deeply disturbing. She told the investigator what had happened in a senseless, almost grotesque manner that was horrifying to witness. According to her, 9-year-old Steven Blair had been placed in the freezer in 2012, followed by his 13-year-old [music] sister, Stony Blair, in 2013. Night after night, they remained trapped until [music] 2015 when her horrifying scheme finally unraveled. I can't like holding him when he died. Um, when you say holding, how were you holding? Just holding him. >> What caused him to die? I didn't ask you what you were doing. And I asked you how did your son know what I'm saying is he died from [clears throat] from what I inflict on him but it wasn't he didn't die right then. You get what I'm saying? >> Well you said you afflicted on him. What did you afflict? >> I was punching him. >> So you say you don't know what caused him to die? >> No, I know I did. What I'm saying is I don't know specifically what was going on his body that >> you get what I'm saying. He died from his injuries. >> I can honestly say I did not mean to kill him and I talked to him in the morning. You say you just beat the hell out of him. >> What about >> now? I just I mean I hear what you're saying, but you still haven't I asked you the question. How did your son die? Okay. So, you did you did something. I need you to tell me specifically what it was. So, you just punched him like just punching him to keep him out. Yes. >> You said punch him. What exactly did you do to >> like mean where did I punch him? >> I mean what did you do? You punched him >> basically everywhere. >> Um I choked him >> with your hands. >> Yes. That's not how he died. I mean like I punched him. Um, >> you missing out the evil part cuz you're telling me something. You don't know how punching him. >> Okay. But >> I punch him and I'm talking to him. >> Um, other than punching him and choking him, did you do anything else? The young boy, Steven, was the first victim of Michelle's rotten mind. He passed away at the hands of his own mother and was then placed in the freezer. Yet, Michelle was about to reveal even more disturbing details about how it had happened. >> What did you do? >> Tell me how he kicked him. And >> you kicked him. >> No, you're telling me how he matter of fact, yes, actually I did like bathtub, right? Hot water. Mhm. My >> and and I did like this. I stood him in there >> in the hot water. >> Yeah. >> No. Did you >> He got right back out. >> Did you run the hot water first and then dump him? >> What do you mean? >> How? >> I cut I grabbed him in the bathroom and I'm still talking to him and then I'm asking him like, "Why you drinking sex? I hate him. I And it's okay. We just talking about and I just hot water on and I'm still talking to him but it's like I'm threatening him and I didn't plan on doing it but I did it. It's like I can't explain it to you. >> So you turn the hot water in the bathroom in the bathtub. >> Yes. And I if you don't tell me everything and tell me exactly why and just everything like [clears throat] what you've been doing. >> Did you put them in the bathtub? >> I stood him up in there. >> You stood him up in there? >> Yeah. So his feet got really messed up. You know your soft layer of your skin on your feet? It bubbled up. Then what did you do? [clears throat] He came back out just going like this and he was talking. So I sit in the toilet and I listened to him. That's like >> What else did you do? >> Just basically a rotation of that punching him just hurting him. Just he he's skinny. >> How [clears throat] long did that go for? >> Um in total after I found out he was in there four or five days and I made him stay in his room. I took him food cuz I didn't know what to do. So I called my aunt first to see, you know, but I end up I guess checking out and I didn't tell her. She know nothing of what was going on and then I actually called the police. >> So you do all this, right? You sent him to his room and you said you called the police at some time. >> Yeah. But I didn't tell them. What I called was like a like I'm asking a general question. >> After he went to his room, what do you do? >> What do you mean? He goes to his room and then you said what did you say about you said it took him 5 days before he deceive before he passed. >> Yeah. It wasn't like he wasn't walking around like like just really tore up. The last time that I heard him, he was gone the next morning. So I know that's what did it. You know what I'm saying? >> Okay. And I was even doing it for him. But I asked you how long after that incident does Stephen die was how long? Okay. So you beat him up the one day, right? And then 5 days go by, you beat him up again. >> No, the the the mixing the hot water was the night before. The afternoon before. >> Mhm. I was around 1 something in the afternoon. He says, "No, I didn't do it." Then you go back upstairs and you do all these things to him. You punch him. You choke them. You put them in the hot water. And then for 5 days, you ground them. You know, the hot water came the night before. You get what I'm saying? >> No, that's what I'm trying. I'm trying to You walk me through. >> Okay. When I when it very first found out there was there was no hot water until the end. The hot water was dead before he died. >> What Michelle was recounting was a sequence of pure evil treatment. The final days of Steven's life were filled with his mother's malicious anger, causing him to suffer for something he didn't even understand. >> Oh, I'm trying to get a timeline here, cuz you do these things to him, right? How long do you [music] You do these things, you assault them, you put them in the water. How many days go by? The >> I I want to say no matter no more than a week. >> So, you said the first day you punched him several times. >> The second day you didn't touch him? >> No. But the third the second day I was like throwing up [music] and was really I had been drinking uh Sodaka like from the first day [music] period and I just I basically couldn't get up. >> You say you was throwing up? >> It's like when I get up maybe I would have went back in there. But >> did you say you was throwing up? >> Yeah. The only reason I didn't go, honestly, only reason I didn't go back in that second day cuz I was every time I got up, I'm throwing up and I'm sick and I >> But then the third the fourth and fifth day you you continue the following days you continue to show them. >> Is that correct? >> Drinking. >> Yeah. And it was like this is how it went. Like I'll talk to him for [music] a second and he'll say something and I just start punching him and I'll stop and I [clears throat] start talking to him again and then it's like no answer he gave was I just went it's like I just stopped I talked to him and I who witnessed was downstairs, but she witnessed. >> Okay, let let me ask you this. Um, at what point do you put Steven in the prisoner? >> After he died. >> You said after he died. [music] >> When I came back in the room, he says I just throw up. >> Say that again. So I when I came back from room, he says I have to throw up. So I walk him to the bathroom. [snorts] He didn't throw up and he says I have to poop. He didn't poop. [music] Then what? So I just took him back in the room and he laid back down and his breathing was sounding it sounded weird. It was just and I put my hand right here on his chest and I his heartbeat was like it was crazy. I put my ear up to it and it was like you said you felt his heartbeat and it was crazy. >> I fell for it and it wasn't strong enough cuz I know how he has a really strong heartbeat. That's what they all [music] do. And I'm not there like this. I couldn't feel it and I couldn't find it. So I put my ear and [music] it was there, but it was like I couldn't explain it. And then at him and I'm just like, "What the god?" And he's just like he's going like this. So he was fading out >> and I tried this CPR on him. >> You tried CPR on him? >> I tried >> while he was still alive. >> No, when he when he started looking like that and started doing that, >> did he stop breathing when you tried CP CPR? >> I stopped before that. So if you stop breathing and you you [snorts] hear it no more. So >> after you finish holding him, what did you do with Steven's body? >> I just prison. >> You what? >> I didn't prison. >> What happened to Steven was tragic and disturbing. However, her display of horror did not end there. Her daughter Stony would tragically become her next victim. >> How did Stony die? Stony, I meant to do it. Excuse me. >> But Stony, I meant to do it. Like with stealing, I can't even feel the accident. But it's not. If somebody die from what you do to them, then it's But Stony, I did mean to. >> What did you do to your daughter, Stony? Can I tell you what happened with her before? >> No, we're going to get I just need to know what you did to her and then we're going to get back to what she did. Okay. >> Um, I'll tell you what's leading up. >> Tell me how you feel more comfortable. If that's how you feel more comfortable, you can tell me like that. But we're going to get to that. I just kind of would rather you answer this question and then you could tell me what and then I'm going to ask you what led up to it. >> Okay. Um first same thing, very first thing I punched her so hard because she was still doing that after >> because she was doing what? She was still doing that to him. Um, I didn't find out doing what to later. They were both him and he said he was so scared of stony. I'm like, why wouldn't you tell me this? He said because she kept saying that. Don't say nothing or she going to beat me up in the whatever. It's just so I found out 9 months later that she had been still doing this after Steven. >> One day actually one day they were arguing about something and they came in the room and he said don't sit next to me. I said stop acting like that to her sister. He was like I don't want to sit next to me. She mean to me anyway. I said mean how? He was like, "You should kick me like this." I'm like, "So why you never tell me?" Then he started saying my diaper just got just I don't know. I'm like, "What do you know?" Just started off with Stony end up telling me Stony was the one at the Steven first. According to Michelle, Stony had been the first to physically harm her brothers, later convincing Steven to do the same. For this reason, Michelle felt no remorse for what she had done to the young girl, and Stony was now deceased. >> See what I'm saying? >> So, at that point, you grabbed um Stony by the neck. >> I'm holding like this. She's against the wall, and I'm looking at I said, "Tell me." And the way that he's telling me, it just felt like it to him it's to me it just felt like it felt good to get out for him to say it cuz he still been getting his ass beat. He still been getting >> Wow. So you grab her against the neck against the wall and he's still holding her and I'm >> Are you choking her at that point? >> Oh no, I'm holding her there. >> No, she can breathe but I have her in a choke, you know. So you grab her, she's still breathing cuz you're asking her questions. And then what happens? Do you squeeze tighter where she can't breathe? What do [music] you do >> after he told me that it was like a like you she was a slander, you know? >> So you grab harder? Not grab. I just got it. I I already I already had a good grip. So I did like this. You know how you sling somebody down. So I snung it down to the ground. >> So you had a good grip around his neck. >> Yeah. I wasn't squeezing yet. Um, they s said I just threw her down. I kissed her. She got up, was backing up and I asked her and this what got me. She said, "You Stephen?" I said, "Well, what you you said was Stephen?" See, I was y'all was ganging him. This was um >> you started kicking her. You said >> yes. >> At this point, the investigator understood that Stony's had been intentional and that Michelle felt no remorse. However, what she did not yet realize was that what had happened to the girl before her was far more disturbing than anything Michelle had revealed so far. >> At what point do you kill Stony? I hit her in the head. >> With what? What you hit her with? >> That's not what you um had like this little stick. What was that? It's like a stick. You hit it with a [music] stick. >> Yeah. >> What kind of stick? >> It's just some like it's the wooden piece. You know how certain things go to beds? >> Just a wooden stick. [music] >> Yeah, but it's it's it's thick. You know what I mean? Um about this long. So I'm hitting her in her head and I'm like he was a baby. Um how big was it? About that big. >> About this. It was blue. Not so big of a where you can you get what I'm saying? >> Mhm. >> So you hit her on the head. >> Yes. [music] >> And then what? >> Um just went on for a minute talking and spilling everything that she's done to him. Went on for a while. >> You hit her in the right eye. >> Was right here. >> What about it? Cuz when I came down, you know, blood was just like um so you in the right the right eye like the right temple here or was it the eye? Was it the eye or the temple? >> No, it wasn't the eye. It was you know >> like right here. So that would be the temple. >> No, right here. >> Yeah. literally in your eyebrow on your eyebrow the hard part you know if I'm wrong about which eye >> and you saw blood coming out >> yes >> you saw a lot of blood coming when you struck her >> like I'm doing the stream of it was like so it just like came out it's just like a spurt and then it stopped so you saw a stream of blood come out yeah it was like a, you know, you just put a little, you know, on this bottle and you do like this. >> Okay. >> Right there. >> After beating her 13-year-old daughter, Michelle locked Stony in the same room where Steven had been confined. What happened to the girl in the following days was something that could only occur in a house of horror. >> Because she was up in the rooms for about 2 days and then what? >> Yes. I go in there and give her food. And I get pissed at myself when I gave her food because y'all was stealing food from him every day. This is why he go to sleep hungry and wake up hungry. >> Did you at some point did you stop giving her food period? >> What you mean? >> Did you starve [clears throat] her? >> Basically, it went down from two times a day to one. And it was only oatmeal. >> Oatmeal and water. >> Let me ask you this cuz we're going to get to um the bottom of it. Okay. >> I'll tell you what I did. >> Yeah. Tell me tell me what you did that caused what caused uh Stony's death or tell me what you did that brings you here today. >> Smother. >> Hm. You smothered her? >> Yes. >> Was it that same night? >> You go to the basement, you drink. >> Oh, no. No. I'm I get like that. I'm too No, this was a while later. >> Like a day, two days later. No, maybe days because >> like how many days? >> I don't know. >> Okay. So, after a few days, is that safe to say? >> Yeah. >> I want you to walk me through it. So, do [music] you go upstairs and just say, "You know what? I'm going to smother her." And you can smother her. Or do you guys have a conversation? >> She was laying on the floor. In her room. >> Okay. >> So, I came in and I sat down. >> So, you go in her room. >> Yeah. And I scared her cuz she was asleep. But I sat down in front of her. So you wake up. She basically wake up and saw my face. And she was like this. And I just kept asking her, "Are you ready to apologize?" And she said, "I am sorry for doing that to somebody period, but I still hate him." And I hit her again. You hit her? >> Yes. Right in here >> with your hand. >> Yes, my fist. >> Who knew about the bodies in the freezer other than you? I had to tell the kids. We were only ones that knew until today. >> Did you show them? Did you show them the body? >> Yeah. Not not for a while. >> How long did it take before you showed not even a week? >> What was their reaction? >> Crying a lot. And he started crying. I asked him, "Why you crying?" They said, "You're going to be in trouble." >> What'd he say? >> You're going to be in trouble. Michelle forced the remaining children to endure the situation, living for 2 years, knowing that their deceased siblings bodies were inside a freezer. Day after day, the children bore the weight of this horrifying reality with no one to confide in. In court, Michelle did not deny any of her actions and even admitted that she had intentionally meant Bill Stony. >> You meant to kill her. >> I definitely meant to kill her. >> Just so that I'm clear, you weren't allowing them to treat your other children like this, were you? >> What do you mean? You weren't allowing them to sexually assault. [music] >> Wasn't allowing them. I never knew. >> That's exactly what I'm saying. That's exactly what I wanted to know. You didn't know until afterwards. >> It's like, >> am I right? >> Yes. >> Okay. >> They say this one. I was sleep. >> Why he didn't tell me? He said, "Mom, I even ran in the hallway and I had your hand. I was sleep. My son ran out and grabbed my hand. He was six and he was doing like this trying to wake me up. Stevie was grabbing him back by the back of his shirt, pulling me." I said, "Why did you just scream out?" He said, "I don't know." You get what I'm saying? He even had my hand pulling on me trying to wake me up. I'm hard asleep. I didn't wake up. So, to hear my son say that to me is real that that [ __ ] happened right up under my nose. So, man, I don't regret none of this. I don't regret any of it. My son, that's my baby. It's no way that his brother and sister should know what he feels like on the inside. There's no way. understood. I don't feel no remorse for a death in beings. >> What happened to these children was horrifying. During an interview, Michelle claimed that she understood how her son felt because she had endured similar mistreatments as a child with her own mother failing to protect her and allowing her aggressor to visit their home. Michelle's actions were the tragic consequence of a distorted childhood that left unchecked ultimately resulted in the two children. In the end, she was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. From one disturbing case to another, the next story involves a delusional, self-proclaimed, godly mother who was capable of taking her son's life as an offering to God. >> I cleaned him in the lake and I gave him to God. And people are going to tell me I am crazy. That he is real and he loves you. He really does love you. You are to trust. It's all about trust. On August 23rd, 2025, officers from the Tuscarawa County Sheriff's Office responded to a call reporting a golf cart that had entered Atwood Lake in Ohio. But what initially seemed like an accident would soon escalate into a horrifying discovery. >> I gave him to God. >> You gave him to God? >> Yes. >> What do you mean by that? I cleaned in the lake and I gave him to God. And people are going to tell me I am crazy, but he is real and he loves you. He really does love you. He loves you. And I doubted him. I doubted him so many times. But I am to tell you, he is coming soon. He is coming very soon. Prepare your hearts. The end is close. And I'm for sure supposed to tell you that he does love you. Okay. >> Okay. >> Ma'am, who did you >> Can you explain to me what happened? Who did you throw in the water? >> I I gave my son to go. >> Upon arrival, officers encountered 40-year-old Ruth Miller, an Amish woman who claimed she was performing a religious ritual with her family. According to Miller, she had drowned her four-year-old son, Vincent, [music] in the lake as part of the ceremony, ultimately offering her young boy to God. >> Where's your husband? He went for a walk this morning >> and you don't see him. >> They never come back and we went to the boat and his clothes were there and God told me he in the lake and a fish swallowed and you're actually supposed to go look for him in the bottom of the lake and you will find the fish and you will find the husband and then you will believe. But ye of little faith that did not do before sea. >> Go. >> So send people down to the bottom of the lake looking for a fish. >> How old's your son that's in the lake? >> He is sweet. I love I >> Okay. >> According to deputies, Ruth's husband did not accept the way he had carried out the task that God had supposedly given him. He decided to return to the lake and swim to a sandbar where he drowned. With each passing moment, Ruth showed no remorse. Instead, she insisted it was a task from God and that the deputies needed to trust in him. Her words revealed the disturbing state of her mind as she appeared completely unaware of the seriousness of their actions. >> I need to know where your husband's at. >> He's at the bottom of the lake in a fish. >> He's in a fish. There's no fish large enough on an owl to swallow your husband. >> He's at the bottom of the lake in a fish. >> Okay. I thought I thought your husband went to the front for a walk. >> Yeah. And then we came to the boat and his clothes were laying in the boat. >> Okay. >> Tan pants and cream shirt and flip-flops. Do >> you have a cell phone? >> Uh, it's in the camper. >> It's in the camper. Where your camper at? >> I think it's >> Area three, >> I think. So, yeah, it's like a tannanish camper. It's >> a tannanish camper. You don't know what lot number it is? No. >> We really need to verify your husband's still with us. >> Oh, okay. >> Okay. >> Well, he's actually just take him take go out in the bottom of the lake. >> Well, I can't go in the bottom of the lake. So, if I scuba >> divers, we're going to have to call divers in go to the bottom of the lake. >> Please do this. >> And and you're saying >> the best ones there are because this this is a miracle from God. You will see. >> You will see. >> You're saying your four-year-old son's down there, too? >> He's with God. >> Where's his body at? >> I don't know. Where did you throw him in the water at? >> Off of the dock that all the way >> where the bike was. Were they >> where the boat was? >> Yeah, there was supposed to be once. >> I think there was one. >> Does anybody have a glass of water? >> Water. >> What's up? >> Thank you. >> We're uh right now we're going to walk up to the squad. Okay. >> What we're going to do, >> we're going to put you in the back of the squad. >> You will find my husband. >> Okay. But you're going to sit down in the back of the squad for us. Okay. >> Can Can I actually just sit with my children and have water? >> Yeah, we can bring your children over. >> Let's go over here. >> Children out here. >> We'll bring them over. >> Let me go check out. >> Ruth continued to insist that everything happening was from God and that her husband would be found. As deputies dug deeper, an even more shocking detail emerged. She had driven her three teenage children into the lake in the golf cart to continue the so-called task from God. Miraculously, the trio managed to escape the water and survive. >> Do you remember when Jesus was on the cross? >> Yeah, I remember. >> And he put his arms out and he said, "Forgive them for they know not." >> You told me that already. >> Yes. They didn't know. They didn't know. >> I guess right. >> You are to trust. It's all about trust. It's hard because he does things in mysterious ways. And it's hard because we want to just believe our earthly ways. Part of you >> go ahead. >> Hours later, the four-year-old was found at the location Ruth had indicated, and her husband's body was recovered the following day. In the end, Ruth was charged with one count of aggravated murder, one count of murder, one count of felonious assault, one count of child inment, and three counts of domestic [music] violence. That case was certainly unsettling. But the next one takes things even further when a mother blamed an evil spirit after brutally attacking her little daughter, leaving the child almost unrecognizable. >> We went downstairs and all of a sudden it was like I turned the corner and there was a lady there and she was all like, "I don't like your music." And I was like, "He's a witch." And that she was here for [music] that to get out of her house. Wait, >> someone prayed at me and told me I was cursed. >> On March 16th, 2024, officers from the Wayne County Sheriff's Office received a call from 30-year-old Chelsea Duperon reporting that her daughter was not breathing. Upon arrival, they were met with a scene worse than initially thought. hang on her eyes. >> Okay. There's obvious bruising and and whole bunch of stuff going on with her face. Did >> she fell down the stairs? >> Was that ever reported? >> No. >> With that severe injury, did she go to the hospital? >> Excuse me. No. Where was she? In here >> on the floor. >> Are you okay, Mom? >> Yeah, I'm fine. >> I know. I know. More low. She's a little girl. I know. >> Lying on the ground was the lifeless body of 8-year-old Laya Cassell. The responding officers were shocked and deeply unsettled by the scene. According to their reports, the girl bore injuries from her face to the soles of her feet. Clear signs of a brutal attack. Officers continued their [music] investigation, but the brutality of what they were witnessing was almost too much to bear. What is that? Please >> bring her. >> It's not good. >> I don't know if you want to even look at that to be honest. >> What are they saying? >> I didn't even get to talk to the man. Mom and dad. >> Mom and dad. >> Who's area? Yours. >> We're in 70. >> You want me to take it? >> Need a rough head up from whoever. You need a rough head up from whatever guardian here. >> Yeah. >> I just got here. I think they're just going to start not talking. Apparently, she we got called that she fell on the stairs, but they found her just like that. >> They found her like this. >> Just like that. >> Right here. >> Yeah. >> That's what they found. What do you need? >> Oh, sorry. >> Who found parents or >> apparently parents and well PD came in mowing road saw just like that. >> But she has an ice pack on her bed. Her face looks like this. >> Who is pick who has the camera? >> Me. No one touch anything, please. >> I would just >> look at her legs. She's been here for I don't even know how long. >> I mean, >> Mo attempted CPR cuz he >> At this point, all evidence pointed to Chelsea, the girl's mom. Yet, as officers tried to piece together what had happened, they began to grasp the disturbed state of Chelsea's mind as she spun stories that were anything but believable. >> So, you said you last When was the last time you saw her awake and and up? >> I got it now. I got you set up a little. >> Okay. What time last? I need you to be as specific as possible. >> Sorry. About 10 to finish. >> What do you need, man? You need mo or you guys just stay. Back back room. Back room. Back room. Back room. >> You said last night at 10:00. >> Yeah. >> What's her name? And so you you saw her awake up. Did she have any medical conditions or anything like that? >> No. >> No. No. No special disabilities or anything like that? So, at 10 p.m., what was the like the I guess the like the context? Were you putting her to bed? Was she awake? Was she walking around? >> I was laying in bed with her and was asking if she was okay. And I gave her water and I just laid down in bed with her. >> In her bed? >> Mhm. >> And that was at 10:00 roughly. >> Mhm. >> And she was talking to you. She was breathing. >> Mhm. >> And then what happened after that? You did you fall asleep in there with her? Did you wake up next to her? What? What? What? >> Yeah. No, I've been sleeping in the room. >> And then I came to sleep out here and I just went to check on her and she was cold. >> He's outside with Is it stepdad? >> Yeah, that's my boyfriend. >> Sorry. >> And then what what's the backstory in regards to her falling down the stairs? How long ago did that take place? I think it was two days ago. >> Seemed like she was getting better. >> So two days ago she fell down the basement stairs. >> Mhm. >> She fell from the top. >> Mhm. >> Has she been bruised like that for 2 days? [snorts] >> Yeah. >> Well, what time was the last time she was like talking to you? >> Yesterday. Well, no. Actually, no. Today she talked to me. Although Chelsea claimed that her daughter had fallen down the stairs, Laya's injuries told a far different story. The young girl had clearly been brutally attacked, leaving no room for doubt in the officer's minds. When pressing Chelsea to uncover the truth of what had happened to Laya, they noticed an important detail. Chelsea's hands were bruised, suggesting a possible struggle and raising immediate red flags for the officers. Are your hands usually that swollen? Like bruises on your arms as well? You got like that hand is completely different size. your whole arm like what's going on with all that stuff? >> No, [snorts] >> you got to talk to them. She She is talking. Do Do you know something that we need to know or what? I I'll be completely honest, guys. A lot of stuff isn't adding up right now, respectfully. Jealousy. So, what what's going on? Like your your entire fist is swollen like you've been punching something. You have bruises all over your arms. >> So, what what's going on, >> Chelsea? [snorts] Chelsea, come talk to me outside. >> Chelsea, you got to talk. >> Just step outside for me. The reality that his girlfriend might have killed the little girl was already sinking in for the man, but the officer still needed a clear account of what had happened to Laya. However, Chelsea's story was about to become even more shocking than it already was. And the unbelievable was about to come spilling from her mouth. >> She said that I hit him. She said that what that she said downstairs. She said she downstairs and when I came down, >> she said that you hit her down the stairs. not down the stairs, but when we were downstairs. But it's like I don't remember that at all. Like I literally remember going downstairs, we were listening to music. We was going to go grocery shopping and then um Yeah. I felt like I thought I seen a lady down there and then all of a sudden it was like I woke up. Who told you that you hit her? Did her in there? How old is she? >> Eight. She said that you hit her. Um, this was but she said your lips were black as you. I think I'm like I don't know. Okay. Um, this was 2 days ago. I believe it was 2 days ago. >> Is there anything that would I guess why why you wouldn't remember? >> Do you suffer from anything? Do you take any drugs or alcohol or anything like that? >> I mean drink alcohol but I quit alcohol. When was the last time you drank? >> Um, >> well, I've been on and off trying to quit when I quit for like a few days. He'd probably remember better than I can. >> Do you remember the last time you drank something? Today's now Saturday. >> Um, the other day when I ran to ride to get a couple double shots. >> What? The other day? >> Or not double shots. Dollar [snorts] >> when Was it yesterday or the day before? >> Yesterday. >> So, you're trying to put you just kind of Yeah. Okay. >> Can you grab his info? >> Shouldn't do it all at once. >> Really quick, what's your first name? Do you need Do you need hers? >> Yeah. >> I would never I don't think my baby though. >> What do you think caused this? >> I don't know. Now, when she said you that when she said, "Mom, you hit me." Cuz you're mom, right? >> Did she look like that? Did she have those bruises? >> Yeah. Already? >> Um, you don't remember doing that? >> Not at all. >> Any drinking? Any drugs? >> No, I was not. >> I talk to you. >> Like, I was completely sober. I quit drinking. I was sober. >> Why don't you remember what happened? >> I don't know. That's what I'm saying. I think I honestly think this house is haunted and it sounds crazy. That's why I don't really >> Chelsea's story had taken a sharp turn and now a mysterious woman was part of the picture. At this point, there was no doubt that Chelsea herself was responsible for what had happened, but the officer still needed a detailed account of the events. One officer began carefully probing Chelsea's story, feigning belief, all in the hope that she would reveal critical details about the tragic incident. >> So, once you saw this face in front of you, is that when you started just punching? No, I just don't really I don't remember really. She just >> And you just like blacked out. And then when was the last time you remember coming back too? >> From the time that she fell down the stairs and you went down there with her, you blacked out. And then when was the next thing that you remember from work? >> When what? >> When Danny got home from work. Well, two, she was there was >> See, I don't know. >> No, you guys are good. >> Can we restart from like the top? >> No, I don't want to. It's like it's it sounds crazy saying it out loud and I just >> Well, it's not about sounding crazy. We're just trying to make sure that's accurate. >> I'm trying to think about it's like I just lost my daughter and I really don't feel like talking about anything right now. >> Okay. >> It's like I didn't do it. I know it looks that way. >> We're not. No, it's fine. I don't care. Go ahead. >> We're just trying to figure out what happened. >> And we're not leaving. >> I'm saying it's confusing. >> Okay. And we're not leaving your living room until we find out what happened. Okay. >> I know. But it's I'm not I don't know. I can't tell you. I I don't know. >> So, today's Saturday, so 2 days ago, Thursday. Did she fall down the stairs in the morning or at night? >> It was all in the morning. And then when she fell, did you know she fell? >> And did did you follow her down there or were you already down there? >> I don't know. I You don't know if you followed her down. Did you hear something and you're like, "Oh, what was that?" And then you went over there to see. >> No. What happened? >> I don't know. I'm done talking about it. Do I can I change before I got to go or something? Like I didn't do this though. I don't even want my kid. I would never want my kid. Does your child have any health issues? >> No. >> No. It's like I don't have a child now. Oh my god. >> What's your first name? >> Chelsea. It sounds crazy, but it's like there's bad spirits and it's like dead. And does it make sense? I know. No, I'm not saying that it sounds crazy by any means, but we we we do have to get a a account of what happened. If you saw something, if it if you >> There was a lady. >> Yeah. >> And nobody else lives with you here, correct? It's just you three. >> Mhm. >> Okay. [snorts] And so she just fell down the stairs or she pushed down the stairs. Was she dragged down the stairs? >> I don't know. We walked downstairs together, went to put that in the laundry, and then all of a sudden, there was a lady, and then uh >> despite her daughter's condition, Chelsea continued to insist on the story of evil spirits, clearly revealing the disturbing state of her mind. >> So, let let me ask you this before we continue. Did she actually fall down the stairs? >> That's what I assumed happened because she was all messed up. >> So, you get you just told me that you guys both walked downstairs. You were downstairs together and she was fine. >> And then you saw the lady. Mhm. >> Okay. So, go from there. What happened when you saw this lady? >> Um, she was saying that this is her house. She's lived down there. She's a witch. And she was like, "Look what I can do." And it was like all of a sudden. >> Yeah. >> All of a sudden what? >> It just everything I don't know. It's like it doesn't make sense. It's >> I understand that sometimes Sometimes sometimes us asking these questions kind of respsparks that and it might trigger a memory that you have. >> Talk about this like my baby's >> I know that dear but we're trying to figure out what happened to your baby. >> Just just give us one second. >> She did not fall down the stairs. >> She did not fall down the stairs. Made up. >> I think you did that. >> [snorts] >> inside my husband here. >> What's that? >> He said, "Yeah, I know my hearing." >> No, that's not I was just making sure I'm not sitting on anything. [snorts] >> I can't tell you what I don't know. I guess I'm James. No, I I understand that and I'm not I'm not saying >> looks like I know it looks like I did it. It's like I just >> No, it just looks like there's injuries and we're trying to figure out how they got >> No, I know. >> You know what I mean? It's not It It's really just a matter of figure out. And I'm sure you want to figure out what happened, too. So, us asking these questions might trigger something that you subconsciously remember. You know what I always that lady in the basement didn't take that [snorts] >> she's a witch and that she was lived here for that we need to get out of her house instead. >> How long have you guys lived here? >> Um I don't know like 2 years or something. I'm not good with timelines. I don't know. [snorts] I don't know what happened. Was that woman real that was in the basement? Sometimes I get qu. But she said, >> "So we're was this woman attacking you? Were you fighting this? I mean, >> I'm still consider you got injuries, too. I'm trying to figure out." >> No, I know. She jumped out. >> What is this? Bruising here. >> Like [snorts] that that almost looks like a burn almost like >> No, I know. That's what I said. Don't even look like a bruise. I don't know. [snorts] >> Did Did you burn yourself? Did somebody burn you? Cuz like flip this hand over. So you get I mean you got like blisters consistent with like possibly a burn. I mean what you don't remember how you obtained these injuries? >> But turn your arms in uh back off. How how long ago were these? >> When I was a kid. >> When you were a kid. >> Mhm. >> Are you suicidal at all? Right. I mean >> no I don't want to be here no more. My kids have been here. And and so when >> that was the only reason why I went in a beard. I would not hurt her. I don't whoop her. I don't do nothing to her. Like it's like I don't even yell at her. >> At this point, Chelsea [music] was blaming her bruises on the mysterious woman, claiming that she had jumped on her. But the officers were far from convinced. They already had all the evidence they needed against Chelsea. The bruises, [music] her contradictory story, and the tragic condition in which her daughter was found painted a damning picture that could not be ignored. Yet, one piece of the puzzle still lingered at the scene. The diapers Laya, an 8-year-old girl, had been wearing. [music] And the mother's explanation would only confirm how deeply the little girl had suffered. >> Hey, what's the um what's the situation with her wearing a diaper? >> Well, cuz her back hurt so she didn't want to get up. So, I got her diapers. >> How long has that been going on? >> Just like a day or two ago or maybe yesterday, [music] actually. >> Was she able to move? Was she able to get up? >> She did. She sat up once, but she didn't. She wasn't able to like get up and move around. >> So, she hasn't been able to get out of bed in two days. >> Like since the whole basement? >> Yeah, she's been staying in bed. >> Prior to the basement situation, she she was able to use the bathroom on her own. >> Officers were horrified by the scene. A young girl had been brutally attacked by her mother to the point that she was unrecognizable and unable to walk, ultimately succumbing to her injuries. Yet Chelsea remained reckless, refusing to take responsibility and believing that her story about evil spirits would convince the officers. She was arrested and charged with first-degree murder and abuse. Initially, she pleaded not guilty and maintained her delusional explanation, but as the investigation progressed, the evidence against her became undeniable. In [music] the end, Chelsea was sentenced to 28 to 50 years in prison.
