But like it wasn't normal discipline then like it wasn't like a spank or anything like that. It was like bald fist right-handed pre >> What happened when you guys walked out the store when we walked out? >> Yeah. Well, she was throwing herself back. Okay. >> And she didn't want to come and she just sat on the floor. So we picked her up. What' she tell you? >> So she told me your mom hits her all the time. She said that she was watching her. She hit it with shoes with her hand. There's one little >> Yeah. She tends to really So like she'll fall down. >> Some kids count on their parents for everything. Yet some parents make them pay for it. But what happens when cops arrive and realize the biggest threat to these children has been tucked inside their own home the entire time? >> Can you tell us where you live? Can I have your hands this way? No, no, no, no. >> It's not on. >> It's not It's not on him. >> What? You're getting upset at your [music] son for what reason? >> These were the moments when cops saved kids from dangerous parents just in time. We begin with a case where cops arrived at a motel room just in time to save an 11-month-old baby girl from the very parents who were supposed to be protecting her. And what they uncovered before the night was over would shock everyone on scene. >> Over here. Over here. >> A heartbeat. >> On November 22nd, 2024, a frantic 911 call came in about an 11-month-old baby girl who wasn't breathing at the Red Roof Inn in Akran, Ohio. Officers were already racing there before the call finished routing. One of them sprinting from his cruiser with a pediatric CPR kit in hand, knowing every second counted. >> This fire call red roof in that guy says he thinks his one-year-old daughter is not answering questions. >> Red roof in. >> Yes. We got a unit head that way. >> I've got the FB on the way. I was calling you to get 236 turned that way. It's going to be a one-year-old female not breathing room 209 in the red roof in Over here. Over here. a heartbeat. >> What's the accuracy? >> They said there's no they can't give you a timeline. No, I got I got a heartbeat. All right, watch out. Watch out. Hold on. I got a heartbeat. >> They got a heartbeat barely. But as medics loaded her into the ambulance, and the immediate chaos began to settle, an officer stepped back and took a longer look at what was in front of him. The room told a story that had nothing to do with the one being offered outside. 335. >> Go ahead. >> We got heart rate in the slot. >> Copy. Heart rate in the slot. >> They're taking her right now by ambulance. I'm going to Is that all my stuff? >> Yeah. >> Here, just leave the door open. I'm going to grab the rest of it. You guys go. >> Okay. I got hers. >> So, we got Are you going to the squad? Yeah, we're going. >> Okay. What's that? His gloves. >> Oh, that's from the kit. >> That baby looks terrible, dude. You see all the >> Yep. >> bruises and >> I sure did. What the hell, >> Dan? I'm thinking maybe SB. >> What's that? >> Shaking, baby. I don't know. That's a lot of bruising. >> The bruising alone was enough to stop anyone cold. The father, Jason Santos, and his girlfriend, Jamie Lee Hunt, were outside by the car, and they already had an explanation ready. >> Hey, we need to get your guys' information before you leave. >> Okay, we'll give this to him. Is one of you down there with the car? Huh? >> Uh, driver's license. >> I just need it for the call. There we go. >> What was What was she doing before she went unconscious? >> I took her out of the car seat and she was like that and I'm like got upstairs. This is the only thing I knew her one of these. >> Was she screaming? >> No, she wasn't. I got her out of the car seat and she's >> no like benadryil, no nothing. Trying to get her sleep. No, I don't even own I don't know if they got room in this in this water. Let me go see where where they're going. >> They're thinking all day. >> I know. So, what's broken? Kids arm broke. >> Hey, was the baby shaking? >> No, cuz the arm's broken. >> He fell with her like a couple months ago right here on her arm. Uh right before Halloween, he fell with her on a big log. Is there medical documentation for that? >> Uh, no. That's >> You go to a hospital >> in Massachusetts. >> You went to a hospital in Massachusetts? >> Yeah, that's our other >> What's the hospital in Massachusetts? You went to the name of it. >> It's an Adam's Mass. North Adams. >> Hey, as of right now, it looks like that baby's been extremely abused. >> He just got her out of uh the mother. >> Listen to me. Listen to me right now. Okay. Right now. Right. You had a baby of his upstairs. He's got bru. She's got bruising all over her and a broken arm. Okay. >> She's got bruising on her from her mother. She He just got her uh from CPS in New York not that long ago. Uh actually a couple weeks ago. He just has >> How long have you custody? >> He has court on 25th and just >> So are you dad? >> Yes, >> I am dead. >> Okay. So what's mom's name? >> Mom's name is >> You still in New York? >> Yes. >> What's her phone number? Where's your phone? >> So, why did CPS remove the baby from her care? >> Uh, >> yes. >> We have text messages. >> Physical, sexual, >> physical. >> Physical. >> What's her first name? >> The mom's first name. >> Good. >> I located both of those individuals. They're both negative attaching. 236. >> You see what hospital we're going to >> Children's. >> So any anytime we get a kid for anything they take straight to Children's >> looking for the CPS workers. >> Well, yeah, we'll need to >> What is What's the mom's phone number, though? Every explanation they gave raised more questions than it answered, and every brute on that baby's body came with a story that conveniently pointed somewhere else. Officers had been listening carefully from the start, and the picture being painted in front of them had nothing to do with the one this couple was trying to sell. >> Which arm was it that was in previously? >> I need him. >> Okay. The dad, right? >> Which arm was what caused that? I tripped over a log. >> Okay. All right. >> It wasn't meaning to. >> Sure. Okay. So, what happened tonight? >> What got you to call 911? >> I noticed that the baby wasn't breathing. >> Okay. What happened before that? >> Is your dog okay to get out? >> Baby was sleeping inside car. We was just We just >> The baby was sleeping inside the car. >> Yeah. Yeah. No, not over here. We just came home. >> I'm just asking you simple questions. >> Oh, I know. We we just came and I'm answering. We just came home doing roadie and Instacart. >> Okay. So, which car are we talking about? This car. Okay. So, you guys came home, the baby was sleeping back there and then when you went and then what else? >> We brought the car. We brought the whole entire car seat upstairs with all of our stuff. >> Right. >> And um we noticed earlier that she had like been breathing like uh like >> like a like a raspy breathing. >> Okay. Yeah. >> And he's like, "Let's find some vapor rub or some suction stuff. >> Try to get her breathing right." And I'm like, "It's probably the weather >> and this and that." And he's like, "Yeah, you're right. It probably is." And we'll make a doctor appointment. We'll get her. So, if we can't find Okay. Uh or the count. >> So, how long do you think the child was sleeping in the car? >> We know she was sleeping in the car >> before you guys got here and then went upstairs. >> Oh, she was sleeping probably about an hour. >> Okay. About an hour. Coming back from whatever you guys were doing. You said something. Yeah, it was the store called At Home and um >> down 77 South down in the Belda Village area. >> Yes, sir. >> Okay. >> And I went inside the store uh shopped the items, came out. I noticed she was uh crying a little bit like smelling like poop. I'm like, I know. I got to get you changed. Uh we came up here, brought her up to the hotel. >> So, roughly about an hour of sleeping in the car seat. >> Yep. >> Approximately. And then got back and went upstairs. Yeah, we are. We literally were only here a few minutes >> and then that's when you noticed and then everything got going. Okay. >> Yep. >> All right. >> And he first got uh >> medical problems with you that you're aware of. >> She's awfully young, but any medical problems that she deals with? >> I'm not sure yet. >> Is how long you said that you just got her from the mom. Is that what you guys said? >> Yes. Yeah. >> A couple weeks ago that the arm was broken. Where? What state? >> In Massachusetts. >> How long ago was that? >> Um, it was like right before Halloween. A couple days before Halloween. >> She didn't get treatment for that. >> We [snorts] didn't think it was broken because it was going down. The swelling had been going down. He had been iced it. The bruising looked like it been going away. And >> you guys went to the hospital, you said, right? >> Yeah. But she didn't need It didn't get broken. >> It wasn't broken. When you were in the hospital, they said it wasn't broken. >> Yeah. the fra the it was see that something is wrong with it but >> but they said that just literally just ice it and it would >> okay so her face and chin the driver >> honestly tank where she was sitting right here the tank jumped up on her >> and uh when we delivered a instant order >> there was um a female dog a rottweiler and he literally was jumped up on the baby and That's where she got the bruises. Right here. And her eye is from his claw. His >> when was that? >> Like literally a couple days ago. >> And he keeps telling me to get rid of the dog. >> A log, the biological mother, and now a Rottweiler at an Instacart delivery. None of the explanations came close to accounting for what officers were actually looking at. The stories were getting harder to hold together, and everyone on that scene knew it. Well, >> this is obviously going to be an investigation. All right. So, if you guys want to make your way to Akran Children's Hospital, delete your daughter, that's fine. But just understand this is going to be an active investigation. Okay. >> Yep. >> You guys got anything for me? >> So, our I So, protocol is I have to contact our detective. So, our detective is probably going to be in contact with both of you. >> Okay. >> Did you when I went to the FD to give them that medicine, did you give this officer your contact information? >> Yes, we did. >> Okay. So, our detective >> our detective >> Well, I don't have their phone numbers. I ran in I just dealt with them last week over. >> You got shoplifting? >> No. >> No. >> They were just upset. >> So, our detective is going to be in contact with you more than likely. He'll meet you at the hospital. >> If if if he can't come out tonight, he'll be coming here as soon as he can. >> Okay. Um, but just know that if you guys do anything other than fully cooperate, there's going to be legal ramifications for you. No, that's >> Over the next several days, doctors uncovered injuries that went far beyond anything visible on the surface. Multiple rib fractures, fractures to her arms and legs, a traumatic brain injury, internal bleeding, a broken clavicle, and evidence of abuse. The following day, Jaime Lee Hunt was taken into custody, cooperative during booking, insisting she had done nothing wrong and mentioning casually that she had gone to work the day before and left the baby with him all day. All right, I'll walk all the way around to that front door and go right here to this first door. Just face towards the cell. Right in here. Just stop right there. All right. All right. You can have a seat. Should I put my hair up? >> Yeah, that's fine. Check the socks. >> Um, I'll check everything for you if you want me to. I do have a bowl and I do have on me. It's in my bra that nobody took out. >> Well, obviously we can't. So yeah, definitely that camera's working. >> Okay, >> so >> there's that. >> Go ahead and remove it. That's fine. Appreciate that. >> At the end of the day, you guys probably go to a jail setting and you're going to end up probably getting passed a scanner of some sort. So you have anything else on you anywhere? Just now's the time. Okay, >> we're not worried about that. >> Um >> Okay, good. I appreciate that. Okay. All right. Have a seat. Hold on. >> We're going to come talk with you here. >> That's fine. I want to show you that I have nothing in my socks. Okay. >> It's [music] just big socks. Show nothing's in my socks as well. >> Got you. It was just your paint up there. It was all looking. >> Okay. I'll do that for you. >> No, you're good. You're good. >> There's nothing. I promise. Nothing hurt myself or others. I've done nothing wrong. Honestly, I went to work yesterday and left her in the car with him all day. Literally. >> All right. Yep. You're good. >> Oh, hold on. Let me flip this. >> Yeah. >> You want to blink? >> Yes, please. I'm breathing. I have nothing to hide. In the end, Jason Santos pleaded guilty to rape and felonious assault and is now serving a life sentence. Jaime Lee Hunt was convicted on nine felonies, including rape of a child and endangering children through torture or cruel abuse. She faces a life sentence at her upcoming sentencing. [music] Against everything, the baby survived. Next, a case where cops raced to a home in Ocala, Florida after an emergency call only to find an offensive parent standing over a critically injured child with an explanation that fell apart the moment officers arrived. >> All I know is the father said that he overreacted and I'm an [ __ ] and I did this to her. That's all I know. >> Mom, please. Mom, I'm begging you. Mom, please. Mom, just come here. On August 21st, 2025, Marian County Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to a home after reports that a young girl was convulsing and not breathing properly. When they arrived, 36-year-old Gregory Blackman was on scene with an explanation ready. >> State of her >> All I know is the father said that he overreacted and I'm an I did this to her. That's all I know. It's >> okay, sweet girl. First name. >> What hospital? >> First name. >> First, last name birthday. >> All right, let me get it. Is >> she breathing? >> We need to get a helicopter in your sub stationation. >> Okay. Sounds good. I'll let the guys know >> quick as we can. >> Okay. >> Are y'all calling for the chopper? >> I'll call for it. >> Okay. I'll let them know it's coming. Sierra 5420 for there's going to be severe single 46 to the single 44. The child is going to be airlifted. So far >> so far. >> The child is going to be airlifted from the south multi-dist office substation. South multi-dist office substation. >> Back to you. I will need a north end unit to be >> y'all are going to go to >> Shane. We're going to go to your substation land. >> Yeah. >> Okay. I just let dispatch know. >> Go ahead. >> The girl's condition was critical. Therefore, a medical helicopter was called out almost immediately. As deputies worked to get her stabilized, the explanations Blackman was offering weren't lining up with what they were seeing. One detail cut through everything else. He had told an officer he had overreacted and done this to her. As the child was airlifted out, officers secured the scene and began speaking to neighbors. >> You ever hear anything next door with your neighbors at any hearing any problems over there? >> Well, only in the night they are um crying, >> I think. Sorry, my English is very bad. >> It's okay. >> Yeah, but she Why? Everything is good or >> we're trying to look into it right now. I'm just curious if you've ever heard anything going on over there. >> Oh, okay. Ever hear anything? You say crying >> sometimes in the night. >> Okay. >> Yeah, but maybe they are have babies. I have my little baby, too. >> All right. You got to be home. >> Yeah. I got my word now. She >> Oh, you're leaving now? >> Yeah. My wife is here on my baby, but she not speaking nothing English. >> No English? >> Yeah. But she can use the translate. >> Let me just get your name and number in case I need it. What's your name, sir? >> 352. >> Uhhuh. Uh, >> okay. Thank you, sir. I appreciate it. >> Yeah. Have a good one. >> With the child on her way to the hospital, officers turned their attention to the mother, who was on the phone, barely holding together, desperately trying to reach her own mother while processing what was happening around her. >> Those are some cool glasses you got. >> She looks like she's going to go snowboarding, right? >> Yeah. >> Yeah. >> Since he's here now, if you just want to have them have a seat in the back of uh Aries's patrol car spot, >> just to keep y'all so Okay. >> Okay. Thank you. We do have someone from what's called CIS in route and they'll be able to see you get there. Okay. >> Okay. Stay close and let me open. >> You want to sit in my cool car? >> Yeah. >> Yeah. Pretty cool. >> Not many people get to go back there. You want to sit on the other side? Okay. >> And he said he overreacted. They airlifted. >> Mom, I need you to please. Mom, I need you. Please come. Please come. Mom, please. I know. Mom. Mom. He they he they arrested him. >> I'm at the hospital. Mom. Mom, I need you to remain calm. Mom, please for me, Mom. Please. Please. Mom. Please. Mom. Please. Please. Please. They got her. They stable. They said her um I think her heart rate is a little unstable. So they are going back to stabilize. I have not seen her yet. airlift. Can you please um like a children's safety? Mom, please. Mom. Mom. Mom, please. Mom, I'm begging you. Mom, please. Mom, just come here. Just come to my address. No. Well, I'm not there. I can give you the address to the hospital. Nobody's at the house. Nobody can't go to the house right now. I Mom, I don't know. I was in the Oh, Mom. You can come to the to the hospital. It's from me. It's like an hour. What? An hour? How far is the hospital from the whole time? Like 45 minutes. Yes. Please, Mom. Okay. Thank you. >> Doctors and investigators determined the child had suffered a bleed, fractured ribs, and signs of prior injuries that went well beyond what had happened that day. Gregory Blackman was arrested and charged with aggravated abuse. Moving on, we have a case where a non-verbal 5-year-old was found wandering alone in the middle of the street [music] past midnight, and the parent responsible was nowhere to be found. >> I have any idea where she lived? >> No. >> No. Y'all ever seen her in the neighborhood? >> No, I think she's just walking away. >> I don't think she came out of the house. >> Did she come back? She's kind of >> Does she normally like stay the night somewhere else? She always come home. >> I left a 18-year-old and a 17year-old. >> On November 4th, 2025, officers responded after a young girl with special needs was found wandering alone on Southeast 4th Street well past midnight. She was non-verbal, frightened, and had no idea how to tell them where she belonged. With no adult anywhere in sight, officers stayed close and followed her lead until she walked them to what appeared to be her front door. >> I think she's autistic. Where is she? Hi. >> Don't run. Mama. Mama. >> Hey, sweetheart. Sweetheart. >> Hi. >> Y'all have any idea where she lives? >> No. >> No. Y'all ever seen her in the neighborhood? >> No. I think she's just walking away. Um I don't came out of the house. >> But you But y'all seen her in the neighborhood? >> Yes. On block. >> Oh. On fourth. >> On fourth. And this is down this way. Hi. Can you tell us where you live? Can I have your hand? Can we go this way? No, no, no, no, no. I don't want to. Oh my god. Oh, okay. Hey, hey, hey. Can we >> Let me see if she walks like towards the house. >> I know. I was trying to see if she go back, but see, >> she just want toys cuz I was thinking too, maybe she walks to the house. >> I was going to try to turn her that way. >> She live here. Someone just peaked there. Hello. >> Inside, a 17-year-old boy answered the door. His mother had stepped out to get food. He said it was almost 1:00 in the morning, and the one adult responsible for these children was nowhere to be found. Officers waited and waited, and the longer it went on, the clearer it became that this wasn't going to be a simple welfare check. >> One of these police, I believe. >> Hello. >> Oh, hi. Listen, I'm sorry. Do you know this little girl? Oh, >> you know her? >> Yeah. >> Oh, she lives here. >> Yeah. >> Okay. Okay. >> So, she you guys' sister, daughter, >> like she's your sister. Your sister. Who's the adult? >> She's not here. She wanted to get her some food. >> Okay. So, like what happened? >> I just came outside. >> Okay. So, we saw we saw you on the side. We And then she tried to pull open the door. So, obviously we didn't know she lived here cuz she's non Well, she wasn't speaking to us. I don't know if she's non-verbal. >> She can't speak. >> Okay. So therefore, before she pulled it, but because my partner saw you, we didn't want to just open the door. >> So we just trying to like So she was in the house and he just got out. Y know, she came out this way or did she come out the back? >> She came out. She probably came out the door. >> So nothing in the back was um was open. >> All right. So if we can just give us the information and then we're out here because she she came home, but she was on Southeast in the middle of the street. She all the way to like the next >> all the way over there and then she came back this way. >> I could just walk outside. >> Clearly the door wasn't locked or she unlocked it cuz she tall. >> Cuz she can use it cuz she unlock it. >> No, it is unlocked. >> It was unlocked. Did you know she unlocked it or did you unlock it? >> I unlocked it. >> You Okay. You unlocked and walked away. Okay. You walked off. Okay. And then she must have followed you out and went that way. Yeah. >> How long ago did you leave the door unlocked? >> 10 minutes. >> How was your sister? You ask your sister, too? >> Her? >> No. The one that was sleeping? >> My brother. Your brother. >> Who else stays in the house? Is y'all three and mom? That's it? >> Yeah. >> Did you at any time come back in the house? >> So, you just been back there in the back the whole time. >> Can you call mom? See how long? >> Yeah. See how long she going to be? >> Cuz we got We have to talk to her. >> But yeah, >> her phone. obviously locked the door to speak to your mom and try to call her, but I'm definitely coming back because um even though like you guys are the older siblings or whatever, we just want to make sure that we get uh get in contact with an actual, you know, [music] adult to make sure everything's fine. Okay. Um I'm glad she made it home and then, you know, everything's good here. Okay. All right. So, y'all be safe and have a better night. Okay. >> Yes, sir. >> All right. Y So, your mom's never done this before? No. >> She always comes home. She So, it's >> she normally be here. >> Yeah. So, it's almost it's almost 1 1:00 a.m. She's she's usually here at this time. >> 2 hours after the girl had been found wandering alone in the street, her mother finally pulled up. She had an explanation ready. McDonald's, an ATM, the light [music] bill, and a conversation that ran long. Officers had questions about all of it. And the more she talked, the harder it became to find the two hours in any version of her story. >> What happened? >> Are you the mom? >> Yeah. What happened? >> Oh, okay. Are you Melissa? >> Yeah. >> All right. So about 2 hours ago, Bella, somebody a neighbor called and said Bella was on Southeast 4th Street [music] wandering around. So since then, we've been waiting on you to come home cuz your son said that you went to go get them something to eat. >> Yeah, [music] >> but where's the food? >> I had the food is in the car. >> Okay, we try to call your phone. >> My phone is dead. >> Well, or off, but Right. So that that's a thing. So, we just trying to figure out like she's we've been gone for 2 hours and now they like I know he don't want to answer the door which is fine. I get it. But like we left we we made sure that Bella got out here fine. He told us what happened. >> Your mom >> Are you serious? Are you serious? >> It's not It's not his fault. It's not his fault. >> What do you mean it's not his fault? >> Well, is he is he is he an adult? He's 17 years old. I asked you to watch this the your your sister. You couldn't watch her for me. >> I just walked outside. She just walk outside, Sam. I'm >> But you know how she is. She was open the door. >> Okay. Okay. We not We're not going to lock the door. >> You can't even do that for me. >> It's not on. >> It's not It's not on him. >> The mother came in loud and defensive. And before officers could get a word in, she was already turning on her 17-year-old son for letting this happen. Officers stepped in and redirected, but getting a straight answer out of her was going to take work. Every question was met with a deflection. And every gap in her story was filled with something new, and the back and forth made one thing very clear. >> You're you're getting upset at your son for for what reason? Okay, we we've been trying to get in touch with you. Your children have been trying to get >> My phone was dead. >> Okay, but that's not his fault. Where have you been for 2 and 1/2 hours? You left with with your boyfriend. I went to get food and I come back. >> For them or for you? >> For them. >> Where is it? In your car? >> Yeah. >> Where is it? >> My other son asked me for the wrap. I went to McDonald's and go get it for him. >> So, what about the other two hours? McDonald's takes what, 10 minutes? >> It's been 2 hours. We came and then we actually left and then we came back and now grandmother from Delray is coming or whatnot because we couldn't get in contact with you. So, like if you don't mind, we need ID to verify who you are cuz you said your name. Melissa. >> Three of you in there. Three of you in there. >> I walked three of you in there. >> What you talking about, fam? >> Do you have your ID on you, ma'am? >> Hey, bro. Go back inside right now. Right. >> Miss Melissa, do you have your ID on you? >> Bro, do do me a favor. Just go inside for right now. Okay. I don't know. >> I don't want you guys to be screaming out here. >> We good. >> All right. >> All right. Here's this. >> Who are you feeling? >> There's not a problem with a 17-year-old, 10year-old, and 5-year-old being left alone. Like, per Florida. That's okay. Cuz he's technically he's of sound in mind, he's answered every question that we've had here. But because of the special needs of the child and because of the whereabouts of when we asked him just, "Hey, where's your mom?" And he said that you just went to go get some food and come back. That's not a problem. when we come back here after 2 hours and you not here. Then now we did we made we we kind of sort of made him uncomfortable because we told him you got to call somebody. He's calling people because he don't want he doesn't want obviously you to be in trouble and two he want us up off the property but we we can't leave and then you come in here a little hot. >> No, because it's three of them in the house. >> Three of them in the house. It's not only him, it's three of them in the house. I left him. So, it's not like they don't have no common sense. >> But who's who's three? >> Okay. It's him and the two other brothers in there. >> No, it's him and one other >> one, right? It's only three. >> He's sleep. He sleep. >> So, you got It's another one in there. >> So, you It's Brandon, Bradley, and >> Javante. So yeah, we didn't know about Javvante, but we didn't do a walk through yet cuz we're going to have to do a walkthrough of the house just because you left him unattended. So I'm going to have to get Well, from you, I'm going to have to get Javvante's um you know, information or whatever. But this is where we at with this here. 2 hours. We was going to be here all night until you got here or until somebody came. What's the other son's name? >> Ma'am. >> I know, but you you Okay. You want to do all the talking? All right. So, how you spell it? >> I can pay the light bill. I can pay the water bill. I can do everything. But you guys cannot do one simple thing for me. >> So, he's [music] 18. >> I had to go to the bank to get money. >> You should have just woke him up. And that that's an [clears throat] adult >> and I can't even step out of the house. >> That's okay. But it this is not on >> I can't even out of the house. You went to McDonald's to get one wrap that took 2 [music] hours >> and then I had to pass through the bank to go pay the light bill. >> So at 10:00 at night cuz what time like in >> go to the ATM? [music] >> Okay. >> And then ATM and did you deposit money or did you withdraw money? Like we going to need a whole story now because there's no if [music] you pull out money or whatever there's nothing open where you have to pay where you're going to pay at 10 11 pay. >> So you but you're pulling out money at 10:30 at night. So you're pulling out cash. >> No, I'm not pulling up cash. I had to pay my rent tomorrow. So I got cash to pay the rent tomorrow and I [music] had to put I had to pay the um the light bill. >> That's not making sense. So the thing is like I said, you left for 2 hours. You left for 2 hours. you said to go get them food, which is actually just a wrap from McDonald's. [music] But then you also said that you had to go to the ATM to pay the light bill, and now it's a light bill and and rent. But the thing is is none of that stuff. If you go to the then you said [music] the ATM, so it's you're actually withdrawing cash, but nothing is open at this time [music] of night for you to actually pay physically pay someone. It's >> I'm not physically paying. No, I I'm not physically paying someone. So, I had to make sure I had enough money on the ATM machine in the in the account so I can pay my light tomorrow. That's what I went to do. >> So, you went to go check your account >> and then But how long does that take? >> I'm just trying to figure out where we get the 2 hours. >> It doesn't take I was talking to somebody. I left the house to go buy something and then I passed to the ATM and then I was talking to somebody. That's the reason it took me that long. >> Okay. But I think by that time, Bella is already sleeping. Cuz when I leave here, Bella was already almost knocked out sleeping. She was tired. So I'm thinking the girl is long gone sleeping. I'm making all thising sacrifice. All thising sacrifice. I'm by myself trying to make everything happen. And you can do one thing for me. One thing for me. You know, you know what's most important, man, is that your daughter was okay and that she officer was able to get here quick enough to see that she was just one street down and that she was able to come home safely. Can we wake up Javvante, please? I we need to wake up the the other adult cuz we just want to make sure that I need to make sure that he is actually here or whatever. So, can we wake him up? >> Officers moved to arrest the mother. The scene outside the house erupted. Family members yelling and the culprit crying. None of it changed what had happened that night. >> This is Javvante. >> Yeah. >> You've been in the house the whole time. >> So, you see now I'm getting arrested. >> Huh? >> Ma'am, I need you to tell me if if based off of the things that I read you, are you willing to speak to me without an attorney present? >> Oh my godamn. >> Oh my god. Oh my god, fam. >> So, I have to ask you again. Are you Are you willing >> fam? It was an accident, fam. >> I'm going to take somebody for accident, fam. >> She been gone for 2 hours. Um >> for an accident. >> Listen, >> what would you do? I'm just want to know what would you do? >> I wouldn't be gone for 2 hours. >> I'm just asking. >> I'm telling you. She was gone for 2 hours. Yes, you would. I wouldn't. I would not. That's it. I get you upset. >> If you were forget about it, many times. Are you willing to speak to me without an attorney? If you I read you your Miranda warnings, are you willing to speak to me without an attorney? And if you could just tell me what happened today. >> So what happened to me? I went to McDonald's. >> Went to McDonald's. >> Then I went to I went to the ATM machine. >> But what time was it? the door. >> Yo, hey, we're not doing that. >> We ain't doing that. You hear what I just said? Hey, do not touch me. Do not touch me. You understand? >> Hey, listen. Hey, listen. No, not there's no reason. Go ahead and place your hand behind your back. >> Close your hand like this. >> Oh my god. >> Oh my god. He just walked outside. It's a Why? Why? >> Don't matter. >> It's not about It's not about walking. It >> don't matter. It's a clear act. >> You want to stop yelling? What would you What would you do? >> You want to stop yelling for a second? Do you want to stop yelling for a second? >> Do you want to stop yelling for a second? >> Why you me talking? We're talking. >> Don't hit them. Don't hit. >> We're talking. >> You got to relax. >> You got to calm down. >> Relax. Bring your voice down. First off, had somebody woke him up, that would have been a start. That is a whole adult. Nobody told me that he was here. [music] Nobody. This is not This is unfortunate, but this is not on you. >> It's not crazy, fam. >> 2 hours. Listen. >> What would you do? Listen. What would you >> It's live, fam. Happens. >> Hey, but this is Take this all the other Listen, you want to listen to what I'm saying? >> Nobody do nothing about that, fam. When a baby walk outside, fam, >> that's important. >> Somebody come mad. >> That's important. What are you talking about? What about the other that's going on? >> Hey. Hey. This isn't about Bella just walking outside. This isn't about Bella just walking outside. My mom, >> you're causing a scene here. >> Only two days. >> I'm going to take your mom's ID. All right. Okay. And then I guess what she brought you back to eat, you guys can have, but we're going to leave. All right. Because there's no reason for this to escalate even anymore. Step out for me. >> That's not fair. 18year-old in there. >> Is that 18year-old in there? It's not fair. >> You can argue that in front of the judge. Your The other son did not allow us in the house. >> But he was 18 years old in there. >> How was he supposed to know that? When were we were going to figure that out? I left my 18year-old and a 17year-old in there. So, I don't know if the 17-year-old thought that he could take care of it on his own or what. I have no idea why he didn't disclose that his brother was in there. Why he didn't let his brother do the talking? I don't know. The 5-year-old was outside running alone um unattended to by herself. That that's the that's the big that's why we were called in the first place. That's it. So, we have somebody has to be held accountable for that, right? And you're the parent. Okay. In the end, the mother was arrested and charged with neglect. Next, a case where a routine Walmart trip turned sinister, [music] and an off-duty sergeant in the parking lot was the only reason a 5-year-old child's abused parent didn't walk away that day. >> They get a kid out of the car, drop the kid, the kid still just screaming, "No, no, no." Like, the kid doesn't want to go with him or just kind of pops down by the front tire. It was Yeah, it was the all this. >> Oh, she was you throwing a kid, so we put her in the car. Okay. But you didn't you didn't like hit her or nothing like that. >> So, she does have some scratches. It's a little little bit of >> On December 23rd, 2023, officers responded to reports of possible mistreatment of a 5-year-old girl outside a Walmart. When they made contact with the parents, the explanation came quickly. The little girl was brought out for a welfare check. She was visibly upset and clinging close, and officers were about to hear a very different account of what had taken place in that parking lot. >> Sir, sheriff's office, come here now. >> Come here. We got some reports of some potential child at the Walmart. Oh, that kid crying. >> Okay. So, what what's going on? >> Oh, she was you throw her in her face, so we put her in the car. >> Okay. But you didn't you didn't like her or nothing like that? >> No. Yeah, we had to throw her in cuz she was a window. >> Okay. How old is she? >> She's five. >> Okay. Do you mind bringing her out just so we can do a welfare check real quick? Make sure she's okay. >> Hi, sweetie. It's okay. You're okay. You're not in trouble. >> Are you okay? Just having a rough day. Tell them why you were mad. >> They're not going to take you. >> You're not going anywhere. >> No, they just want to know you're okay. Cuz somebody saw you at Walmart. Just tell them why you were mad. You want me and dad to go? They're going to take us if you don't tell them. Someone said that we were you at Walmart. Were we You >> Hey, can you come here, sweetie? >> Look, we you >> It's okay. I promise you're not in trouble. >> Look, come here. >> I mean, I'm not going to push it. It just seems Seems like she's okay. I just have >> Yeah. Well, she threw a fit over a little toy. Okay. I just wanted something at Chris or at Walmart or whatever. Okay. Well, it was something that was a baby shower bottle that she wanted. >> Oh, okay. >> And she didn't need it and she wanted it and she started crying. >> You have many stickers in your car. >> And she didn't want to go. She just drove herself down. So, I picked her up >> and she's she's a big girl, >> right? Yeah. >> So, it kind of made it look like I was forcing her. >> I got you. and she was like in the window like that. Okay. >> All right. It made it seem like it was a younger kid than that. From what our dispatch, they said it was like a young kid. So, we just want to make sure everything's okay. It sounds like she's just a little upset, but she seems like she's okay. So, we just wanted to come check and make sure everything's okay. All right. Well, we'll get out of your hair. Okay. You guys have a good day. >> An offduty sergeant had been shopping at the same Walmart and had witnessed everything. What he described was not a child throwing a tantrum. He was clear. It wasn't discipline. It was something else entirely. >> Hello. Hey, Sergeant Miles. How's it going? >> Good. How are you? >> Good. So, what what did you see? >> So, they fur off in the store. We weren't following or anything, but they kind of went out at the same time as us. The kid was just kind of screaming at no, no, no. And they were kind of like dragging this kid out of the store, you know, like kid. And the kid was being like a lot. I don't know why, but it goes outside to like that back parking lot at Walmart East. Mhm. >> And she's like has the kid like up over her shoulder and she's like walking with the kid and then like she takes the kid and like you know those cart crawls. >> Mhm. >> She like drops that little girl. The girl is wearing like a yellow shirt but she drops her on that cart rail like right in the area of her rib cage or something like it it looked bad. So I don't know if the kid would have injuries there. I would honestly check with medics cuz dropping them on the midsection like that. But they get the kid out of the car, drop the kid. The kid's still just screaming, "No, no, no." Like the kid doesn't want to go with him, but just kind of pops down by the front tire. It was Yeah, it was the mom. So then she goes and opens the back door of the truck where the kid was, the back passenger side, and she like throws the kid in there, or actually, yeah, my wife's correcting me, cuz the dad put the kid in there and like had to push the leg over and slam the door. The mom went over, reopened the door, and then just like close hand, fist the kid three times like in the area of like her probably like her butt, lower midsection. It was kind of hard to tell. >> Okay. >> But like it wasn't normal discipline, man. Like it wasn't like a or anything like that. It was like bald fist, right-handed three. >> Yeah. So, I'm going to go talk to them a little bit more. But from what they told me, I guess the reason for the nose nose nose, I guess she wanted a toy at Walmart >> and was just being I rate. I guess they said they had to like push her in the car or I guess what you described kind of throw her in the car cuz she was trying to the window out. >> Yeah, that was true. And you could see that the kid was like probably or something, but like didn't seem to want to go with them for whatever reason. Was it mad over a toy or scared to go because she knew she was going to get in trouble? I don't know. >> Officers went back to the father with what they now knew. His account of events shifted with every question. The cart corral, the car door, the kicking. Each answer revealed a little more than the last. >> Hey, do you mind if you can come out here and I talk to you real quick? So, what happened when you guys walked out the store? When we walked out? >> Yeah. Well, she was throwing herself back. Okay. >> And she didn't want to come and she just sat on the floor. So, we picked her up. >> Okay. And she just kept throwing herself back. >> Okay. You know, like how kids do attentions, >> right? Yeah. So we didn't know what to do. So we just picked her up, put her in the car. >> Okay. Was there like anything that where she like fell on like the car corral or anything like that? >> Yeah, there was a part where she like kind of like threw herself back and she kind of like laid on the kind of like grabbed the car coral. >> Okay. Did she like hit it? >> No. >> No, she never like or anything. >> Well, she was like hanging on to the cart corral. She was drawing attention. And then um when you guys got her in the car, did your wife at any point like her or anything like that? >> Well, she was trying to keep her back and she was trying to close the door cuz she went >> then we have to try to lock the the door. She kept trying to open the door while somebody was trying to park next to us. >> Okay. So, when you guys were walking out, was your wife holding her? >> Yeah. >> And she was like just throwing herself. >> Yeah. She was just throwing herself back. >> Kind of making herself fall. >> Yeah. >> How many times did she fall on the ground? Well, she fell twice coming out. Just like from the service bay to the door, she threw herself down twice. So, we kind of like just said, "We'll just leave her here." And she just kept throwing herself back. So, we picked her up. >> Okay. She did that six times. >> How was your wife holding her? >> Well, she was holding her by her hands and she just kept like throwing herself back. >> Like, she didn't want to go. >> She just wanted to stay. She wanted to go back in the store and get that toy. >> Then the car crowd thing. Oh, yeah. And then the car crouch. She well she fell one more time and then she told her, "Come on, let's go." She picked her up and she was holding her and then she got on the cart for real just hanging on and then she like like leaned back on it like did it look like she hit her back or anything like that? >> Oh, I don't know cuz I was I was pushing our our son on the other side of the the car. >> Okay. >> But it didn't look like she fell. >> Okay. >> The mother was brought in separately and her version tracked closely enough with the fathers to make it clear the two had aligned their stories. But the gaps between what they were saying and what the offduty sergeant had witnessed with his own eyes were impossible to paper over. Medics were called to examine the girl and what came next would change the direction of the entire stop. >> Do you mind grabbing your wife real quick and I'll just chat with her real quick? >> So I was carrying her out cuz he had the baby. >> Yep. >> And she threw herself down and then he tried to get her and then she grabbed onto the cart thing and kind of let her go a little bit to grab her again and she went over and then I picked her up and then I kind of carried her the rest of the way. >> Okay. So, she was holding on to the cart thing. >> Yeah. >> You picked her up and then she like made herself fall backwards. >> Yeah. She when she's like that, she just wants to >> Okay. And then how did she like fall on the the cart? >> I was holding her forward. >> Okay. >> So, she went from like this. >> Did she hit it at all? >> I don't think or she fell over it and then she fell over it. >> Yeah. And I went to pick her up again to get a better grip cuz she was and screaming and she was sliding out. >> Okay. And then can you tell me what happened at the car again? And then he unlocked it and I went to go I pushed the cart up a little bit and he put her in or he like basically threw her in cuz it's high. >> He went to go put the stuff in and then she was in the door and I was trying to hold it six so she wouldn't fly out. >> Uhhuh. >> And then I opened it and I pushed her kind of pushed her in cuz she was trying to me. >> Okay. >> And then I grabbed the key from him to child lock it cuz she was >> and then she started the window. So she was like trying to keep the door open and you held it shut and she kept trying to keep the window. So you were like her to keep her in. Where did you at? >> I just on her >> on the How many times would you say? >> Just twice. >> Twice. Okay. So they don't know you guys are coming but so basically one of our off duty sergeants saw mom like basically like throw baby down on or like 5-year-old on the cart corral. They told me she like fell back and went over it but didn't it but that hard to do. So we just want to make sure she's okay. >> So based off everything that I've got from uh from a witness, we're going to just have medics check on okay. That way she's okay. >> So um I'd like to take a look at where she's um is her bedroom close. [music] >> [music] >> Can we step I'm going to step right over this way with her so we can look on her tight she does have some scratches a little bit of bruising >> nothing overly concerned >> what the medic found during the examination stopped the conversation cold scratches bruising and a story from the little girl herself >> she did give me like a story but um why she checks out I don't know if you guys would like us to take her in or what your answer with that. >> I mean, if you guys think she's okay, then where's the >> I do have nails, so that could be why, too. >> Yeah. Lower right abdomen. >> Okay. Is it just like scratches or is there bruising? >> Yeah, there's one little >> Yeah, she tends to really So, like she'll fall down. >> Is that the bruise right there? We are rightful here. That was nice to meet you. Okay, we're going to go. >> What' she tell you? >> So, she told me her all the time. She said um that she was whacking her. She with her hands that it was both on both thighs as well. She was hurting the most on the lower uh left quadrant where she was showing me. >> What' she say happened today? She's saying >> she said that she acted up when they were out at the store. her mom told her not to. Um, and then she said she was hunger after that. It wouldn't stop. So, she had asked for a Christmas present. Her mom told her no. >> And then, so the bruising, it was just that little spot and that's where she was saying she was. >> She said she was here too, but I looked at both eyes and I didn't notice anything. So, that was only cuz I saw markings. She >> just like a little bruising right there. Okay. >> Her neck as well. I didn't see anything. >> All right. >> Okay. Awesome. Thank you. >> Sorry. Merry Christmas. >> Merry Christmas to you as well. >> Could you have Annia step outside for me? >> Yeah. >> So, I can talk to her. So, what's going to happen? I need you to turn put your hand behind her back. Okay. >> Okay. >> Yep. I'll let you get your shoes. Okay. And I'll explain what's going on. Okay. Let me double lock this other cuff on you so it doesn't tighten on you. Okay. >> She needs some shoes. >> Yep. >> My feet are right there on my Crocs. >> Okay. And I did it out here cuz I didn't want to see in front of your kids. Okay. >> And I'll explain what's going on. >> Why? Why? Can I at least just get my baby? >> Yep. If that's what you want to do, I'll explain in a second, but she's going to be going to jail tonight. Okay. >> Based off of everything that I've got. Okay. >> Um, she wants to say bye to kiddos. Okay. [crying] >> Let's go. and thank you for being cool with me as well. It goes a long way. >> In the end, the mom was arrested and charged accordingly. Next up, we have a case where cops stepped in just in time to rescue a 2-year-old from a mother whose dangerous choices had already put her child's life at risk more than once that day. >> What is it that you mean? >> What do you mean? You're obviously not. >> You're telling your >> She's She's saying you punch your brother or whoever's in >> Nobody. >> I didn't punch anybody. She wanted to take my brother. Oh my god. My god. My phone's help. No, no, no, no. You cannot kick my baby. >> Olivia was uh in there uh grabbing liquor. Uh she walked in front of a car. >> On April 20th, 2024, officers responded to a call about a woman who had punched her 14-year-old niece in the face during a family intervention over her drinking. She then stormed off with her 2-year-old daughter, refusing to stop and talk. >> She's right here. >> What's going on with you? >> Nothing. >> Okay. Do you want to want to stop talk to us? What? >> Ma'am, I'm trying to talk to you. >> I know. What do you What is it that you need? >> Okay. Your mom called us. >> I don't know why. She kicked me out the car. >> What happened before we got here? >> Uh, nothing. She was harassing me. Call my little daughter a little [ __ ] and I got out the car cuz I cannot stand still. >> Can you Can you stand still? >> Yeah. I mean, I have a a kid with me. How would I stand still? >> What the >> What happened? >> Nothing. Why would you call anyone? >> I'm going to put her sweater on. Do you mind? >> We're trying to talk to you. You're trying to figure >> What is it that you need? >> What do you mean? You're obviously not. >> You're telling me I'm not raising your voice. >> And I'm not raising my voice unless you are. It's not funny. Talk my little and I need to leave the car because I don't stand at talking. I'm going to answer to you. My daughter does not need to be talked like that. There's nothing other than water and water in here. So you can check that. >> Hold up. >> I don't need to hold up cuz I'm not arrested. I know my >> No, no, no. You don't know that cuz you also She also said Okay, stop. >> She also said what? >> 14year-old. >> Do you not grab me when I have my daughter in my >> Well, then don't walk away. >> I'm not. >> But don't touch me. Don't touch me. >> Don't move. >> And you have a camera on you. Yes, I do. Don't touch me. >> Then don't try walking away. >> I am not. I'm talking to you. before we lock you up and take your daughter away. So, you need >> I'm not going to take my daughter away. >> Stop. Just Just stop. Listen. >> Wow, that's amazing. >> Speaking with Olivia, she claimed her family was harassing her and calling her daughter inappropriate names. She denied hitting anyone and insisted she was just waiting for an Uber, but her sister was about to reveal the truth. >> Where did it start today? What happened? >> We were at Enchanted Castle and she never wants to spend money on us. And >> so, you were at Enchanted Castle. What? What happened from there? >> Are youing serious? >> What What happened from there? Call my little daughter a [ __ ] That's not acceptable in any parent term. >> She's she's saying you your brother or whoever's in the >> Nobody. Okay. >> I didn't anybody. She wants to take my mother because she's white >> and she just wants her and I just wanted to be left alone. So I left the car and I have my Uber picking me up right now. That's not even fair. She just wants me to fail in life. It's not fair. >> All right. What I want to know right now, are you in a state to take care of your your daughter? Yes, I got her bottle and everything. Officer, please. Please. >> Have you had any alcoholic beverage today or anything? >> No, you can check the dis. You can check it right now. Check it, please. Please. >> Where are you going? That's why they're trying to take her. >> Please don't take her. >> All right. Hold on. >> No. Please >> stay right here. >> No. >> Do you have anybody else that can come? Just That's not a good idea. >> No, it's not. Just like she's doing this on purpose. >> All right. Just hang out right here. Okay. >> The suspect's sister arrived and revealed the truth. Olivia had been drinking heavily and walked in front of a car with her toddler. She was in no state to care for a child, but no one expected what she would do next. >> Olivia was uh in there uh grabbing liquor. Uh she walked in front of a car with I don't need to explain all this to you. Um they're going to take the baby away if you don't come and get her. >> She's like she's drunk out of her mind. She walked in front of a car with a in front of a car so a car could run her over. >> She's nuts. >> You you you got to take the baby before the state takes the baby away from So she's going to get arrested. Look. >> Well, get it off. >> I'm going to get it off right now. Sit down. >> Back at the station, Olivia demanded a lawsuit and claimed she'd be home in 20 minutes. But the reality was far different. She was looking at serious charges for the choices she made that day. >> Can you step out, please? Walk away. >> Sit right here. >> They just lock you up for no reason. >> Relax. What's your name? Okay. What is your first name? What's your name? Yeah, lady >> Olivia Agalar. I'm pretty sure they should have told you that before I came in here. >> First of all, don't talk to me like that right now. >> I'm not talking I'm answering your question. My name's Olivia Agalar. He wouldn't make eye contact and breathed heavily when asked questions. They tried to calm him with gentle words and questions about his puppy, Bruno, hoping he would eventually open up about what really happened. Are >> you going to try to get your mama's phone number and find out while you're here by yourself? Okay. You a little too young to be hanging out by yourself, buddy. Okay. Nobody hurt you. Where'd you fall at? Right here. Did you like fall on your head or anything or No. >> He fell on his back. >> From a pain scale 1 to 10. 10 being the worst. What? What do you think it is? >> That hurts pretty bad. Yeah, Bruno. He's a playful little puff. You like playing with Bruno? >> A neighbor came forward and described what she witnessed that morning. The mother had yanked Markeel by the arm, threw him at the bottom of the stairs, then hit him with a shoe before leaving him alone. She didn't return until midnight. >> Hi. >> Hey, do you know your neighbors? >> No, I don't know them. I just moved here like this month. Okay. >> A couple of days ago, >> did did you call? >> What did you see? >> Um, so like I heard a lot of noise and then I just happened to be my head out and I was being nosy and she was yelling at him and he was standing in front of her like she was sitting down in the driver's seat and he was standing in front of her looking at her and she him and he fell to the ground and so he had she had picked him up by the arm and yanked him up and she threw him on the staircase. Bottom of the staircase. Okay. And um >> sorry about that. >> That's fine. >> And then um she was starting to yell at him and he was crying and then she started to him and she had a shoe in her hand and she started to with that shoe and then she told him to go inside and she took her other kids to school and I went over there and asked him. I was like and before while he was walking outside she threw it at him. She chucked the shoe at him and then um she went in there and then she came out and then she just hurried up and dipped. And then um I went over there. I was like cuz I had opened the door when I saw her doing all that and that's why she was going inside. So I closed the door and I was freaking out. I was like, "What am I going to do?" Cuz that's a big and um and so um I asked him, I was like, "Hey, where's your mom?" He was like, "Oh, she's in the shower right now." And I was like, "Okay, so you're not alone." He goes, "No, I'm not alone." I was like, "So your mom's here with you?" He goes, "Yeah, my mom's here with me." I was like, "So you're not alone?" He goes, "No, I'm not alone." I was like, "Did your mom just leave?" And he goes, "Yeah, my mom just left." And I was like, "Okay." I was like, "Is she going to come back?" Cuz I I don't know if it was him, but I've seen a little boy like just staring at me out the window one day. And I walked in around the cuz I usually come in through that, so I don't ever use the store. And um so I went back to go check and he was gone. And then I was waiting for like her to pop up or whatever. See like you know I'm nosy like that. She didn't come home till midnight. >> When the mother finally arrived home she sped into the trailer park angry hitting a patrol car in the process. She demanded to know why officers were at her house. More concerned about her image than her injured son sitting nearby. >> That's why I wasn't I wasn't sure what to do. So I called my mom and I was like what what should I do? She was like, "Well, if it was your son." I was like, "Okay, we're not going there." [laughter] >> Bruno. >> Bruno here. >> Bruno, we sure appreciate you. >> Yeah. Appreciate it. >> Yeah. Thanks for coming out so fast. I didn't think you guys would, but >> Oh, most definitely. >> Run it by you real quick. Uh, this dude is >> this mom. >> Oh, police car. >> Oh, god. >> Yeah. car. >> You sure did. >> Why are y'all at my house? >> Well, if you come over here away from me, I'll explain it to you. >> Huh? >> Come over here and I'll explain it to you. >> 36 phone. We also have a 1050 of this address. >> Okay. What's going on? >> All right. So, we've got um investigators in route. >> We've got a individual that stated that she seen you this morning. was complaining of pain. So, we're trying to figure this out. >> He is not I was not him this morning. >> Listen, listen, listen. We ain't going to yell out here. We ain't going to yell. >> Let me call my mom because ain't no way nobody see me beating my this morning. That's nobody business. Somebody went and called the police while I took Riley and MJ to school saying that I Markeel and um they noted at here and Kale talking about he complained about pain for his diabetes. >> He said he sit for his diabetes and people talking about >> this is her ID right here buddy. >> Officers asked Markel if he was afraid of his mother. He said no but his body language told a different story. The mother denied everything claiming the neighbor was lying but the evidence was already stacking up against her. Are you afraid of your mother? >> No. >> Obviously, you hear what your mama's saying. We've got a neighbor saying that that she seen your mom this morning. >> Your mama didn't morning. >> Okay. Well, they going to come out here and talk to you. Okay. You got diabetes? Yeah. You feel like your sugar's low? That's why you That's why you at No, it's not. Okay. Is it? >> Ma'am, I need your insurance. >> Ma'am, I need your insurance. >> Okay. >> The mother insisted her son's injuries had nothing to do with her. She claimed he was diabetic and acting out because he didn't want to go to school. But the neighbor's account painted a very different picture of the morning's events. >> Your son is complaining of back injury and leg injury. Okay. >> That had nothing to do with me. >> It's your son. But I'm I'm talking about he what I did not him. >> It has everything to do with you cuz your son is complaining that he's hurt. >> Exactly. But I have nothing to do with my hand. You weren't here. So we have >> I had to take my kids to school. >> Okay, I understand that. Ain't he supposed to be in school? >> He's sick. He's a D. I'm not going to ask you again. >> There you go. There you go. >> Investigators arrived and spoke with the mother. She admitted picking Markel up off the ground during a tantrum, but denied harming him. She claimed she doesn't believe in physical discipline because of her own childhood, a story that was quickly falling apart. >> Your dog got away. You put him back in the house. >> Huh? >> What's the name? >> Markeel. And this is Bruno. >> I work 52 at 3:30 to 11:30 on a daily basis. And nobody can say about me and my nobody by myself. >> She been out here on the phone cussing the whole entire time. >> So don't tell me what I do with my >> ma'am. Please stop cussing loud. So, it don't matter. Talk to my Let me call you back. My mama calling me >> for a reason. He didn't go to school today. >> Because you see how he he acting. I have no meaning. >> With enough evidence, officers placed the mother under arrest. She demanded to know her rights and fought against getting in the patrol car. Meanwhile, Bruno the puppy wagged his tail nearby, unaware his owner was headed to jail. >> Put your hands together like you're praying. >> For what? >> You're under arrest. >> For what? >> For what?
