And the next case is no exception. >> What do you got in there? What do you got in there, man? >> What do you got in there? What do you got there? Oh, >> I'm so sorry. On July 25th, 2023, an officer was dispatched to a highway after receiving reports of a woman driving in the wrong lane. Fearing that she might be intoxicated, the officer rushed to the scene. However, nobody was prepared for how this interaction would unfold. >> Okay. Just How long you been here? >> Okay, I'll get them done. I'll see what's up. >> Ma'am, >> roll down your window. >> What's going on? You're in the wrong lane. >> Are you okay? Are you okay, ma'am? What's going on? Tell me what's going on. Are you okay? Can you tell me what's going on? Why are you in the wrong lane? Can you tell me why you're in the wrong lane? I don't know what I got here. I got a female that won't answer any questions. I think I'm in our vet. I'm in our turn lane to go into the shops if you want to start one of them. >> What's going on? Can you tell me what's going on there, please? Are you okay? Do you need an ambulance? Are you all right? Have you Have you been drinking or anything? It doesn't look like you've been drinking. At this point, the officer attempted to communicate with the woman to determine what was happening. However, it was a one-sided conversation with little to no response from her. Coming up, things escalated rapidly when the officer noticed a loaded pistol on the woman's lap. >> What What do you got in there? What do you got in there, man? >> What do you got in there? Obviously Lamar westbound and then eastbound uh down the way here a little bit. >> Nick, just confirming your eastbound. >> Traffic came to a stop and the turbulent scene suddenly became surprisingly quiet when shots were fired. At this point, dispatch had just sent additional units to the scene. >> 88 entrance to the shops. >> Okay. 261. >> Are you okay? >> I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry. I'm >> very glad we can get you at Lamar for West all the selfies. I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry. >> She wouldn't talk to me. She just she had some some like charm or something and she wouldn't talk to me. I I said, "Do you need an ambulance? What do you need?" and she reached into the center console and I saw this gun and she reached for pointed it right at me. I was so worried I was going to downrange at you. >> Oh my god. What's your name? >> Jess, you're fine. You don't need an ID. Jess, I'm Nick. Okay, you're going to need to stick around for us a little while. I'm so sorry. I'm going to give her my work phone so she can make >> All right. >> We have two Arvvada officers pulling up. Do you need more? In the aftermath of the shooting and talking to the witness that saw the bullets going through the suspect right in front of her, the officer tried to keep calm even though his emotions were high. >> Still need westbound at Lamar shut down. I still have cars coming this way. I need Lamar shut down. West. >> Hold on. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. You sure? >> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Come look at this, man. Come look at this. [ __ ] This is Jess. Stay right here. Here's my phone. Okay. >> The woman who pointed the gun at the officer was pronounced deceased at the scene. Next up, what initially appeared to be a routine crash investigation would soon [music] escalate into a deadly split-second confrontation. >> How we doing, sir? You doing all right? You got your license, registration, proof of insurance? >> No, don't. Okay. >> Step out of the vehicle. >> On October 28th, 2019, officers responded to a traffic collision after witnesses reported the driver appeared heavily impaired. But moments after, police approached the wrecked vehicle. The situation rapidly escalated when the suspect repeatedly ignored commands and reached beneath his seat. As tension grew at the scene, officers were suddenly forced into a life or death confrontation after believing the man had pulled out a weapon. Okay. >> I just This thing is best in the world. >> Ah, now I could see that pretty far. >> Yeah, I could. >> Oh, okay. How we doing, sir? You doing all right? >> You got your license, registration, proof of insurance? Oh, don't. Okay. >> Can you tell what's going on? >> What are you What are you reaching for? Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Let me see your hands. Hey, let me see your hands. Let me see your hands. >> Step out of the vehicle. Ah. [screaming] Ah. Let me see your hands. [screaming] Pick it up. [ __ ] Come on. Stop it up. [crying and snorts] >> [panting and gasps] [laughter] [screaming] [gasps] >> Oh my god. [panting] [gasps] Oh my god. In the end, investigators revealed the object the suspect had pointed at officers was actually a black hammer, not a firearm. Terry [snorts] Chanley later died from a gunshot wound to the chest, while the officer involved was placed on administrative leave and received psychological support following the shooting. Up next, what began as emergency calls on the side of the road quickly turned emotional after officers discovered children in heartbreaking conditions. >> Hey, baby. Hey, baby. I'll I'll get it. I'll get it. That makes my heart hurt. Those guys hurry. >> Stay with me, buddy. Stay with me. >> On August 3rd, 2017, officers were conducting a routine patrol along a highway when a vehicle driving erratically immediately raised suspicion. After ignoring multiple commands to stop, police finally managed to pull the car over. But what officers discovered inside the vehicle would leave them heartbroken by the devastating consequences of a mother's irresponsibility. >> Guys, hurry. >> I was scared. >> You were scared? >> Yeah. >> What were you scared of? >> I'm I'm out of the freeway. >> I've been behind you for a while. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. You You were behind me. >> Put your phone away. >> Scared. >> Yeah, I'm sure she is. I'd be afraid. First thing the way you were driving. I'd be afraid too. Stand on my light. >> I can't. >> Why can't you? >> Because I am intoxicated. >> Just walk normal. >> Hey. >> Well, no. No. I say I >> Okay. >> Don't do ABCs. No. >> Hey, baby. Hey, baby. I'll get it. I'll get it. That breaks my heart. God, that breaks my heart. >> But not every heartbreaking call involving children would end in tragedy. After a desperate family flagged down a police officer for help, a race against time began when a one-year-old baby suddenly stopped breathing inside the car. >> My dog stopped breathing. >> Hey, I need you guys to pull over. What color and type of vehicle are you in? >> You're in a gray car. >> Hey, Zire. >> Come on, man. >> Hey, stay with me, buddy. >> Stay with me, Zire. >> Stay with me, >> Daddy. Please don't stop breathing. >> Come on. Come on. Come on. Come on. Stay with me, little man. Okay. Hey, not like my blue lights. >> Oh, yeah. >> Okay. Okay. [groaning] >> 11:45. The baby's breathing. >> In the end, all of the children were brought to safety. Next, a police officer's emotional breakdown inside a McDonald's drive-thru sparked national attention after she revealed the anxiety she says has been building around everyday interactions. I told her, I said, "Don't bother with the food because right now I'm too nervous to take it." Right now, I'm too nervous to take a meal from McDonald's because I can't see it being made. I don't know what's going on with people nowadays, but please just give us a break. I don't know how much more I can take. >> On June 17th, 2020, Georgia police officer Stacy Talbert recorded an emotional live stream while waiting at a McDonald's drive-thru where she broke down in tears describing the fear and emotional exhaustion she had been experiencing while working as a police officer. So, I decided to come to the McDonald's at Lo's uh the Ford Avenue exit and I waited in line to get my food. I had already done my mobile order so that you know people don't pay for my stuff because I just always like to pay for it myself. But I'm on my way home from work. Um when I pull up to the window, they hand me my receipt. So, I go to the second window to get my food and I'm waiting and I'm waiting and I'm waiting and so the girl comes to the window and asks me what my order was. I repeat my order and my coffee um order and they asked me to pull up because my food's not ready. It's an English muffin meal with a hash brown or coffee. And I'm still waiting and they ask me to pull up. So I pull up forward and uh a girl comes out with my coffee and just the coffee and she hands it to me and I have my window down and that's all she hands me is the coffee. So, I told her, I said, "Don't bother with the food because right now I'm too nervous to take it. It doesn't matter how many hours I've been up. It doesn't matter what I've done for anyone >> right now. I'm too nervous to take a meal from McDonald's because I can't see it being made. I don't know what's going on with people nowadays, but please just give us a break. Please, just give us a break. I don't know how much more I can take. >> Her emotional breakdown appeared to reflect a deeper anxiety triggered by the way she felt society had become increasingly divided and hostile. >> I've been in this for 15 years, and I've never ever had such anxiety about waiting for McDonald's drive-thru food. So, just have a heart and if you see an officer, just tell the >> because I don't hear thank you enough anymore. All I want is just my next couple days off to just be so chill. No uniform, no nothing. Just for a couple days. [snorts] It'll get better. I know it will. This will all blow over, but hopefully it blows over sooner than later because I just want some McDonald's. >> Up next, what began with a simple request for identification soon escalated into an emotional and unpredictable confrontation after the suspect refused to cooperate with officers. >> T them get on the ground. >> Get on the ground. Get on the ground. >> Deep breath. Deep breath. In and out. >> On May 20th, 2025, officers from Florida dispatched following reports of a property invasion. However, the situation rapidly escalated as officers encountered the type of suspect determined to hide behind false identities, forcing police into a delicate and increasingly emotional arrest. >> What happened today, sir? >> He came to my my home and I told him he can't come in without permission. >> Yeah. >> So, he violated my space, then came and slammed my door. So, he destroyed >> Yes. That's destruction of property. >> Where is he currently? >> He's currently in my area that I allowed him to stay in. >> How long has he been staying here? for a few months now. Okay. He needs to be evaluated or looked at or whatever you got to do. >> Okay. Do >> you have any [snorts] weapons? >> He He has no weapons on him. >> Do you have any weapons on you? >> I am the weapon. >> Okay. Do you have any guns on you? >> I don't I don't use guns. >> Elroy, >> that's not my name. >> It is. >> No, it's not. >> It is. You got a warrant for your >> Do you know? Do you know? >> You got a warrant for your arrest. >> Calm down. >> No one's commenting. >> Don't listen to that man. You're telling me to calm down? >> You've got a warrant for your arrest. >> I've been here peacefully making things happen in my world, in my space. I'm allowed to do that. I haven't troubled anyone. There's been no crime. What's going to happen? There's no crime. It's a civil matter and I said leave. Who's you? >> Listen. >> Who's you? >> Put your hands behind your back. >> I am Ben. Do you hear what I said? >> Do you have an ID? >> I am Ben. >> The suspect continued insisting he was not Elroy Clark. A man wanted over a relatively minor trespassing warrant. But regardless of the identity he claimed to have, officers quickly realized he had no intention of cooperating and the confrontation was moments away from escalating. >> You're about to get tased. I'm not. >> Yeah. Tase me on my land. >> I will. I will. >> You will do that. >> I will 100% do it. That's correct. >> You will tase me. On his land. >> Can we make this peaceful? >> It is peaceful.
