1st 2023 officers responded to a report of a forged check at a local bank as they entered the branch they encountered a girl who turned out to be the main suspect's cousin she apparently hurried off when she saw the police here's the footage of what happened as they spoke with the woman and as the investigation continued more and more charges began to surface yes you got your um it's right there I'm sorry is there a problem yeah where'd your friend go um my cousin yeah um I'm assuming to the car is I'm sorry is there a problem yeah where'd she go hey what's up what's the issue well she just left without you where'd she go she went back to I'm actually supposed to be leaving now because I had to go pick up um my nephew but what's going on okay where'd she go to I just said to the carer what is going on again she got she got in a car in the middle of the road I'm sorry in in the middle of the road yeah when she saw me saw me she ran out of here okay so they left me yeah I don't even have my phone on me okay just hang what's your name serenity serenity okay when officers first arrived at the bank the first encounter with the young woman was her acting like nothing had happened however the officers soon went to talk with one of the branch employees and this was when it was determined what had gone down prior to the call so just what we going on here ma'am I'm kind of yeah yeah so it's a pretty common thing that happens at the banks um so they have an account with us so's like a ring or she does yeah so they like have like a ring of people and what they do is they deposit like cash and they account like 900 bucks okay they got multiple checks I don't know if you can see this when I can show you a picture I couldn't print any better but they went she went to Cortez Road at like earlier today like 12 1:00 today and she had a different completely different check for $743 so what they try to do is they say what's my available balance oh I have $900 in there so they know they to have $900 sometimes Banks don't know anybody and what they'll do if they cash the check against the $900 saying that they have nothing we're kind of wondering though how they're do you have any idea how they're getting these checks I mean is does this Shar and Jones report this check stolen or is it a I mean is it um well Lisa fris is calling me because there's a different check that she had so it's completely different person yeah so I don't she's going to give me the details on that one and is that one a branch me I haven't verified this one yet but hang on soen has an account with you okay she's claiming she check so at Leisa the branch manager who CU they always look like it's almost like the same handwriting has same thing um yesterday that came in they hit they hit all of our locations so they hit three or four locations with three or four different CHS they trying to get us the cash it and then they pull their 900 out and then they skip down and then they're gone one second if you her up real Qui I'm going to bring her back in here and then if we can if you want to step out I'm just going to question her the bank employee explained to the officers that the young woman had tried to fake a check and that this was something the branches saw all the time coming up the officer spoke with the young woman and her emotional reaction immediately told anything or tell you guys to contact them first is my husband under arrest are you guys trying to get him too on May 25th 2023 a warrant was issued in connection with a $1.36 million fraud case spanning from 2017 to 2023 a financial administrator allegedly exploited her access to payroll systems by forging checks and authorizing fake expenses to funnel company funds into her own account okay or she counted the money uh th000 at first and I counted it back and I let it down on the table then she did it two more times for 3,000 and then she gave me another 300 after that and I put them in the in the machine to check if they were real and then uh I put the just put all of it in the tail okay so she counted 3,000 did you count 3,000 back to her yeah every single time yeah and then she gave you 300 after that what's that mean for you mean you counted 3,000 1,000 three separate times yeah then she laid three more hundred 300 more on that yeah okay and you counted that back there so you stuck $3,300 in the yeah okay that's what I thought yeah yeah all right um at what point was all of that money laying out there and you not watching it when I was putting it in the machine to test it okay well how many did you test uh like four or five okay or can you find on your camera that while he's testing it while you're testing the four or five um you have your back to it nobody else is watching $3,000 correct okay um um when did she start dealing with Rosa the other cashier and when did the other items come into play um I'm pretty I don't your transaction had already taken place took 3,000 back but that's what we got to confirm if not then I think we got to let go nothing after hearing one of the cashier stories it was clear that Jessica knew exactly how to trigger the cashier to believe that the money was already given to them however they still needed some final evidence before placing her under arrest okay here we go all right we got hard evidence took it back
