[screaming] Hey, get out the ground. Get on the ground. GET ON THE GROUND. [screaming] >> SO, you thought he was chasing you like to hurt you? >> Well, he he had it like this. >> Okay. He also like did this here. >> Sometimes parents become the biggest threat to their children despite being the people who were supposed to care for them. But what happens when officers show up and get to confront these horrible parents? Okay. >> Yeah. >> You should be. >> It's just fun. You >> Yeah, a lot of roaches. >> Yeah, I see that. That's not good for those babies. You're going to go to jail for the battery and you're going to go to jail for the child. >> These were the moments cops confronted terrible [music] parents after horrifying discoveries. Starting with a pair of awful parents who fell asleep while their toddler was left stranded in a pool. >> But that pink pool right there, she was in that by herself. She was totally by herself. Mom's asleep or something. >> Okay. >> I don't know what they're doing. >> At what time was the last time you saw your child? >> Um, we went to sleep. Maybe I don't ever let this happen. This has never happened before. I cannot lose my child. >> On July 28th, 2024, a deputy was dispatched to a neighborhood in Bunnel, Florida after a concerned neighbor spotted a small child alone in a pool. What seemed like a case of a wandering child soon revealed itself to be something far more troubling. >> Nice to meet you. I'm Deputy Cola. >> Good. And this is my husband Dave. He's on the porch. I'm not going to say in front of her, but that pink door right there. She was in that by herself. I've asked her mother. We knocked on the door. Door was already open. I hollered for them. My husband hollered for them. And nobody has come out yet. Okay. So, you know, she was in that pool by herself and we didn't want to see the ground. I know of friends that their children have drawn from them just >> Yeah. >> So, that >> she didn't have like any like pool gear on her. >> She was totally by herself. Mom's asleep or something. >> Okay. >> I don't know what they're doing. >> Okay. All right. And this was how long ago? >> This has been 20 minutes. 20 minutes since I'm no one has checked. >> My neighbor's been out there, too. So, you know, >> I we didn't want to call, but I I told Dave, I said, "Look, she was in the pool with water in it. It takes a split second for a child to drown." >> So, because we did knock on her door, gave her an opportunity to come to the door and then we yelled at them inside the door and nobody still came. I said to me that's a red flag and we're obligated for that child to call. >> All right. Okay. >> Yeah, that's definitely with us or anything. >> Yeah. I mean, look how look how small they are. I mean, the child can drown in 3 in of water. >> Grandchild and that. >> Yeah. All right. >> Okay. >> Uh, give me a second. I'm going to go. Okay. >> The child's safe with you guys. The child's fine. >> Does the child show any symptoms or anything or anything like that? >> Absolutely not. >> All right. The officer was left absolutely shocked by the parents carelessness. So he decided to wake the parents up and hear their side of the story. So So what's going on today? Oh, >> I literally I was just sleeping. >> Yeah. >> Did you guys you guys have like a long night? >> Yeah, >> it is. It is 6:00. Um All right. So, uh the neighbor over there, she found her in this pool. this little baby pool. And uh she like opened your door and she said she was hollering for you guys. And you guys want to know where does it where's the child usually at? >> Where do you guys sleep? >> In your room's over to the left. And she's in the she's in the middle room. >> No, not middle room. In the front. >> The front room. >> Yeah. Yeah, man. We need to sleep. This is the first time she actually done some bull crap like that. How old is she? >> She just turned three. >> She just turned three. >> Yes. >> Well, well, they said they've been, you know, she's been with them for 20 minutes. So, and they were just concerned for your guys safety because they opened the door and yelled at you guys for about 20 minutes and you guys weren't answering. So, she was concerned if you guys weren't even >> They opened the door. >> They said the door was open. >> Oh, yeah. >> Yeah. What time What time did you guys go to bed? And when was the last time you saw her? >> Well, we had taken a nap with her. That's why I don't understand. Like, >> okay. She was sleeping with you guys. >> Usually, she would wake me up. This has never ever happened before. Usually, she wakes me up and lets me know, "Hey, mommy." Or, you know, she let me know if she's hungry or if she, >> you know, I'm a very alert mom, especially bad moms. >> This has never happened. >> No, this is >> She's never walked outside of the house before or anything like that. She the the only one time that she did was Fourth of July cuz we were over at their house for well I have another neighbor like a street over and we were at their party for 4th of July. >> Do you understand? Uh >> yeah I mean she's 3-year-old child that's like about a foot of water. A child can drown in 3 or 4 in of water. >> You understand how dangerous that can be? The duo tried their best to portray themselves as responsible parents. Needless to say, their explanation fell flat. With no other options, the officers moved to question the mother, identified as Cassidy, for her [music] negligence, not expecting her to deliver a performance instead. >> I got to ask you a few questions. >> Okay. >> Before I do, I'm going to read your rights. That doesn't mean you're in trouble. >> Are you arresting me? >> I have to come up with that conclusion. I'm just going to read your rights. Just formality. I don't I keep my I I've never been away [laughter] from her like that. I can't like this never happens. I >> Okay. >> Okay. >> At what time was the last time you saw your child? >> Um we went to sleep maybe. I mean we we usually don't take late evening naps, but I I just hurt my neck the other day when I was putting up the cameras and fell off the ladder. So my neck's been hurting and I just Okay. She was in the bed with us and we just we were watching a movie and we just fell asleep. Um probably we fell asleep at least like like maybe right at 6:00. >> Yeah, she was literally laying on his chest. She That's why I don't understand. She's never came out of the door like this. She's never like freaking know this is just a mess. So, I literally just got this pool yesterday and I was going to take it down cuz when I went to put it up, it the top of it doesn't blow up and I but I still literally play it like earlier today before it started raining just to, you know, get some energy out and stuff cuz we don't really come outside like that because the bugs are so bad, >> right? All right. So, the pool the pool was filled all day today, right? You didn't fill it today at all. It was filled yesterday. it. No, it it was spilled yesterday and then I brought her but I didn't drain it out yesterday cuz I was going to bring her back out to play in it today. But when I realized the thing wasn't the top part wasn't blowing up, it doesn't hold sustainably like it would if it would blow up. So I I still let her play in it a little bit today and then we just brought her in the house. She played in it for maybe like 2 hours earlier, but I but I sat outside and watched her. I I would never let her do that and supervise cuz I I've seen things that can happen like that and that's why I just don't understand because she's never came out of the house like this without like the one time that she ran over to the neighbor's house I had view of her and >> Yeah. You were mentioning that happened July 4th, right? >> Yes. >> Okay. [snorts] And and you woke up at what time? >> Uh it was like 6:30. >> Okay. when I about 6:30 when I saw that when I woke up and saw that you guys were that whichever one of you were here was out here and he was walking out to the end of the driveway. >> Okay. >> But I this never happens. >> Okay. >> Never happens. >> And are you the biological mother of Naa? >> Yes. >> Okay. >> Yes. >> Who is he to Naa? >> Uh he's he's my boyfriend, but Na's dad isn't >> Yeah. No. >> Okay. He's your boyfriend. Is he is he to you like a caretaker to Na as well? >> Uh what what do you mean? I feel like >> like is he a caretaker? Like if you were if you leave the house, does he watch her? >> No. No. No. I don't I didn't I I don't leave my daughter with anybody. No. >> Okay. >> Cassidy was convinced her Saabb story would sway the officers and get her out of her impending arrest. Except it had the opposite outcome. >> Has she ever been You say that pull's recent recently new? >> Yeah, I I literally just bought it yesterday. Okay. Okay. And you say she has she has not done this besides on July 4th? >> Yeah, she's never done this besides on July 4th, but when it when it happened on July 4th, I have a carpet right at my front door and it's not easy. It's not easy to pull the door open. >> Okay. Um but but somebody had I wasn't I don't even know but somebody had tried to break into the house and there like the door jam is is broken and that's the only reason I'm thinking that she might have been able to open the door >> but I >> Okay, >> like this has never happened. >> Is is that door is that door locked ever? Yeah, I I keep it locked, but I just telling him I I'll just have to get the little handle thing that goes on the doororknob, and then I'm still going to get a chain to go on the top of it to lock it from the inside cuz this, like I said, this is this does not happen. I don't know if it's just because we got the pool and she wanted to come outside and play in it, but that's not like Okay, >> this has never happened. I don't let her get out of my view like that. >> Yeah. All right. And is the door like traditional like twist knob to open it or is it just like a simple pull or anything like that? >> No, you're going to twist it to open it, but I usually lock the screen door too cuz she doesn't know how to lock it and >> I don't know how to >> So she's she's or the door handle's low. She within arms reach of the door handle. Have you ever seen her reaching for it beforehand? >> No, she doesn't she doesn't she doesn't do this. She doesn't open the doors in my house. And usually when we take a nap and she wakes up, she'll she'll wake me up. I I don't know. It just might I don't [snorts] ever let this happen. This has never happened before. I cannot lose my job. Yeah, but this rarely happens. I just My neck's been hurting. I literally just put this c the camera up the other day and I fell off of the ladder and I I broke my neck back in 2022 in a car accident in Indiana and it just kind of like it was hurting so so bad and she she said something about mommy I would have taken that night so she curled up in the bed and [clears throat] we fell asleep and I said it was normal like any other time and like none of this ever happened and I don't even know why she came out of the door like that. It's not her fault. I should if I get arrested. I don't have any money to keep her and I don't I'm sorry, but I don't trust any man to keep my daughter like that. I don't care. >> Okay. Okay. >> I don't leave her with anybody. Unless she goes to daycare, she's always with me. I've never been away from >> Okay. All right. Do you mind grabbing her for me so I can talk to him? >> Instead of owning up to her mistake, Cassidy chose to go down the victim route. Even amid her theatrics, Cassid's focus seemed more on ending up in jail and losing her job than being concerned over her child's safety. Frustrated, the officer turned to her boyfriend, only to be left disappointed once again. >> As you can tell, no one's in handcuffs. Just something we have to do court of law. >> Oh, yeah. I know. Cuz somebody else actually didn't do that from y'all team that. And that's how my charges got dropped. >> All right. Who Who are you in terms of a family picture? Are you dating Cassidy? >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> Okay. Um, do you does Cassidy ever leave Na with you alone? Are you are you a caregiver at at all and by any means? >> Only if she has to do something like say like something outside or >> Okay. Something. >> Okay. She doesn't does she get out much? Does she like go? >> She really can't. >> Okay. All right. So, you know, and how long have you been with Cassidy? >> Two months. >> Two months. >> Okay. So, you don't really consider yourself a caregiver. Caregiver at all. >> I'm not going to say I don't care. >> Yeah. Yeah. No, no. I'm not saying you don't care. I'm just saying in terms of like >> guardianship. >> Guardianship. >> Oh, I mean, I guess not. >> Okay. >> All right. Yeah. Um, do you have any questions for me? >> Uh, yes. Well, actually, I think I want What's going to happen to me? >> I don't know that we're trying to figure that we're trying to figure that out. Uh, obviously, we don't we don't have the we don't have the power to do so. Obviously, since she's a minor, she's toddler, we're going to have to contact DCF. And DCF does their own thing as well. They do their own investigation. They talk to everyone involved. They may talk to you. They'll talk to her. Yeah, they're >> they're a lot more, you know, qualified in terms of deciding where a child should be placed or goes or stays. >> Mhm. >> Um, >> officers found it appalling that Cassidy was so comfortable introducing a stranger man into her child's life like that. By that point, the officers had heard enough and it was now time for Cassidy to face the consequences of her actions. >> I think I've concluded everything here. >> Sorry. Say that again. >> Can you turn around for me and put your hands behind your back? Can I call somebody to get my daughter, please? >> We'll work that out. >> Give us one second. Okay, you take make a phone call. Okay, just give us one sec. >> I'll hold your phone. >> I don't want kids seeing you in handcuffs. Okay. Yeah, you want to see your kid 100%. I would, too. But I don't want her to see you in handcuffs. Okay. What do you think is the best option for your daughter? Do you think your daughter should stay here? Do you think your daughter should stay here with them over there with the neighbors? They say they have 22 grandchildren. I'm not >> I'd still prefer to at least try to call my sister and my brother and see if one of them could hurt. >> We can we can definitely make that phone call happen. >> In the end, Cassidy was arrested and charged with neglect without causing great bodily harm. Moving on to the moment deputies received a 911 call from terrified children reporting their intoxicated and aggressive parents. >> Don't kick me out of THE HOUSE LIKE YOU GUYS DID LAST TIME. YOU GUYS MADE IT WORSE LAST TIME. >> TAKE ALL MY CLOTHES off and on. >> NO, SIR. COME ON DOWN. ARE YOU AFRAID? >> WE GOT REALLY MAD with all this stuff out. That's why all this is on the floor cuz he like pulled the whole thing out. He's yelling at my brother, like threatening to like him and stuff and stuff like that. >> On March 17th, 2024, dispatch received a 911 call about a drunk father behaving in a hostile manner towards his children. When deputies arrived on the scene, they immediately became aware of the screaming coming from inside the residence. >> Because of this, >> police. Hey, come outside. >> I'm not going to get told by people what to do anymore. I'm done with that. I ain't don't going anywhere. >> Come on out. >> Come out, man. >> I'm not coming out of snow. >> Last time it all fire. >> Yeah, I don't care. >> I'm not asking, man. I'm telling. What? Get him out. Just go get him. >> Okay. Well, move out of the way so I can get him out. Move out of the way. >> You guys could have had him in prison last time. You guys failed. >> Okay. >> Hey, come here. >> Right here. >> Come here. >> Don't kick me out of THE HOUSE LIKE YOU GUYS DID LAST TIME. YOU GUYS MADE IT WORSE LAST TIME. YOU'RE NOT DOING NO, [screaming] DON'T SHUSH ME. >> YOU GUYS MADE IT SO MUCH WORSE last time. >> Is he upstairs? What? >> Just leave him alone. BUT YOU AREN'T. >> NO, he's not. He doesn't have anything. >> Who's bleeding? >> He is. >> Why? >> From the start, it was clear the mother had no intention of helping. But the real confrontation began when they finally came face to face with the nightmarish father. >> Hey, it's police department. Can you come out with your hands up? >> Huh? >> I need help. >> You need help? >> Come to bring him down to us. >> Hey, come come on down here, man. No, you come up here. >> Not happening. >> Here's my hands. >> Come on down. Come on down to us. >> Walk down to us. >> Marty, take all my clothes OFF AND UNDER. >> NO, SIR. COME ON DOWN. >> ARE YOU AFRAID? [screaming] >> HEY, get on the ground. Get on the ground. GET ON THE GROUND. [screaming] STOP IT. PLEASE. WELCOME BACK. WELCOME BACK. YOU TOLD ME TO COME DOWN. I'M NOT RUNNING. >> YOU TOLD ME TO COME DOWN. >> DID YOU TELL ME TO COME DOWN? [screaming] >> Did you hold my hand? >> I did that. >> I CAN'T STOP. >> STAY AWAY FROM THE STAY AWAY FROM ME. >> STOP. DON'T TOUCH ME. >> STOP. DON'T TOUCH ME. >> DON'T TOUCH ME. PLEASE. PLEASE [screaming] TURN AROUND. >> Hook her up. CALM DOWN. CALM DOWN. >> I GOT I gota only hurt you, brother. >> LOOK AT MY FACE. >> OKAY. >> NOW YOU DON'T THINK I can take >> Can you PLEASE >> LOOK AT MY FACE? DON'T SPIT BLOOD on me, okay? >> Chaos ensued as the officers tried to arrest the extremely intoxicated father, but the ordeal didn't end with him in handcuffs because just then the mother decided to pipe up. >> Okay. Okay. I will walk normal. I'm sorry. Please, guys. >> Oh, I'm sorry. >> Shut up. >> Shut up. >> I'm sorry. >> You call the police. You get the police. Sit down right there. I'm not asking you. I'm telling you. >> Get me a SIT. JUST CALL. >> SIT DOWN. Please >> sit down. >> Please, guys, >> shut your mouth. >> So, it's I'm not going to do nothing. I'm sorry. >> We're good. We're good. We're good. >> No, I won't. >> I said to sit down. >> I won't do anything. >> I sound like I was asking you something. Sit there and keep your mouth shut. >> Okay, I'm not going to do anything even. >> No, you're going to go to jail now. >> No, I What? >> I'm sorry. >> Stop moving your arm. >> Stop moving. >> I'm not My arm's just not working right. >> Back on. Anybody else coming can slow down, >> please? I didn't >> put her in a car. >> Can I ask you a question? Hold on one second. >> Better. >> Yeah. >> All right. You're going to stay in those for now cuz you just fought with us. Okay. We don't want you to fight no more. >> I didn't fight. I CAME DOWN THE STEPS. >> YOU FLEW down the steps, bud. >> You know what? >> We're going outside. Listen to me. They broke the nerves in my back. So, it ain't going to just work, right? And I've told you guys this in the past. >> Say that way when you talk to me. >> I can't. I'm staying here. >> Who hit you, buddy? >> Come on. >> Who hit you in the face? >> Nobody. >> Listen. SLOW THE DOWN. WHY ARE YOU IN A HURRY? >> CUZ I DON'T WANT >> DUDE, I'm What do you think I'm going TO DO? RUN AWAY? >> ARE YOU ON? Are you different [ __ ] country? [snorts] Are you a newcomer? I'm going in the back. That's where I'm trying to get. >> Okay. >> Stop pushing back. >> I'm trying to get in the back. >> Pushing back, >> dude. You're a coward. >> Quiet. >> You're a coward. This dude's a coward. He has not got your back. The young lady, >> come on. Okay. He's a punk. He's going to push me around. This guy's a punk. >> I'm okay. What's going on? >> The mother tried to backtrack, but that was something the officers wouldn't stand for. On the other hand, the aggressive father refused to make life easy for the paramedics who had rushed to the scene just to help him. >> I fell down the steps when they asked me to come downstairs. >> I can't laugh in your face. >> Yeah. >> Any alcohol or drugs tonight? I had two shots in my bedroom. Okay. >> Locked in my bedroom. >> Okay. >> Is that illegal? >> And I'm not here to tell you what's illegal anyways. I'm just seriously. Do you know what year it is? >> 2.4. It's St. Patrick's Day. Ye little tomorrow on March 18th. >> Who's the president? >> Yeah. We're like Donald Trump. Not right now. >> Let's go. >> What's your name? >> Sing. >> Okay. Do you want to be evaluated by EMS? >> No, I want to go back. >> Okay. You guys can hold on to dispatch. >> Say >> once the officers secured both parents in the police car, they began asking questions. And what they found only deepened their sympathies for the children present in the residence. >> Why is your dead be bleeding profusely from the face? >> So he came down the steps. He was trying to bring a dog on a walk, but he was drunk and like >> he was like trying to bring him. He was going to like take him off the lease and stuff like that. >> Okay. >> Which I'm pretty sure it's illegal and it's also like we don't want him to run away. >> Okay. >> So we get him to stop. He comes down talking about like >> How old are you real quick? >> I'm 15. >> How about you? >> 22. Let's get them inside so we can You guys don't want to throw any clothes up. >> And like so he comes like he goes back upstairs. >> Well, actually, we like told him not to bring us. He got really mad. He ripped all this stuff out. That's why all this was on the floor cuz he like pulled the whole thing out. >> Okay. Uh and then he was just like he started like yelling at my brother. I wasn't even in here yet. Like I heard everything but I wasn't like actually here cuz I was trying to see. And then he like he's yelling at my brother like threatening to like him and stuff stuff like that. Then he just goes back upstairs, comes back down like at the middle of the steps, starts yelling at us again, stuff like that, talking about like Jesus and stuff even though he clearly doesn't believe in him. And we we were like that's all we were saying is that like you just you just keep talking about this. You tell us about this every day and then you do stuff like this. And he goes back upstairs, comes back down with the guitar. He's like he's like like he's not like running cuz he can't, but he's like walking as fast as he can, like going as fast as he can towards me. And he's like he has a guitar like this. He's holding it by the neck and so he's like chasing after me. I threw something at him. I went to my room, shut the door. There's like a hole on the There's like a hole on the door in the back if you like follow. Look at it. It's not like he couldn't break through. >> The 15-year-old painted a horrible picture of what had happened moments before the officers arrived, but nothing could have prepared them for the details that the oldest son, Cody, was about to spill. >> Do you have clothes on? >> Yeah, I have shorts on. That was >> all right. Can I talk to you somewhere so we can figure out what's going on upstairs better? >> Cody, you injured in any way, Cody? >> Okay. We're just gonna get your side of story and get, you know, see if we can't come to the best resolution. I don't know. Last time you didn't like what happened. Hopefully this time you do. Okay. What happened? >> Something happened. >> He had he >> he as in Dad. >> Okay. >> He's upstairs and I have one earbud. Uh I'm wearing a headset. >> I got one out. >> I hear him. Do you mind if I sit? You're good. >> Uh and he's walking downstairs cuz the middle screw on that handrail. Yeah. >> It's like loose. Okay. >> So, >> he's like walking down and it's very obvious to tell when he is and isn't drinking. >> Sure. >> No, he didn't for a while cuz he got put in a psych ward >> and this was like his last chance, >> right? >> He's not going to do it, >> right? >> You have to have faith in family, right? I mean, I get it. Yeah. my brother, he didn't have much faith, but I don't know if I had much faith in him, but I thought >> God, >> uh, I thought you just like, let me and my brother, >> let him just get to 18 and then I can I just got a nice job like I told you, >> and I can buy us a house or at least an apartment. I can afford an apartment. >> Sure. So I'm like just let him get to 18 and graduate from CBCA >> and you guys can kind of go on and do your own thing. Yeah. >> So anyways, a little off topic, but >> like you said, last chance. No way. He He might say dumb stuff, but he's not going to do something. >> He comes down and he gets mad at the handrail for one of it being loose. So he breaks it. I immediately know. So >> Okay. >> How he break Did he rip it the rest of it off the wall? Is that what he did? >> He ripped it. I didn't see it. >> Okay. Okay. Cody's account left the officers stunned. Another officer interviewed the 15-year-old to confirm the details. And with each new story, the household's chaos became even more apparent. >> This right here, I shut the door. Like my big brother, my big brother is up there. So, he couldn't like he had to like turn around and stuff cuz like he >> Your brother was following him. >> No, no, no. He was like he's telling everybody to get out first and stuff like that, but like there's no way to get out out here besides the store and he was right in the hallway. Mhm. >> So like he he like stayed inside. My dad like moved and then we all just got out and that's what my sister called the cops and basically I just like >> Why is this Why is he bleeding? >> There's this one thing like while he was running like chasing after me. There's this thing. I don't know what it I don't know what it's made out of. It's like a snow baby or something like that. It's like a decoration. I just threw it at him while he's running at me with a ton. >> I just Yeah. Uh I think it like up here or something. I just I didn't like aim it. I just like it kind of like it was um it was on this like stand over there. I just like uh it's like right in the middle of uh >> So you thought he was chasing you like to hurt you? >> Well, like he he had it like this and he also like did this here. >> Yeah. >> But that was after that. >> Okay. >> But he's also like threatened you to do stuff before that. >> Okay. What did he threaten? Uh he was like if you want to hit me so bad we something like that we like we're talking about stuff we called the cop. >> Yeah I remember like this and uh he was he like saying dumb stuff like he's >> uh my brother said he smelled alcoh that's like the main reason we're pissed. We don't want to bring him our dog. We didn't walk in to bring our dog on a walk cuz he was drunk. >> He'd let your dog get away. >> Yeah. I'm tracking. >> The officers could barely imagine what it was like for the children to live in this unstable environment, being subjected to awful conditions by their psycho parents. And when they talked to the youngest child, a 14-year-old girl, they found that the story kept on getting worse. >> I'm sorry. What is your relationship to both? >> Are they your parents? >> So, yeah. So, my dad is like the crazy one and then my mom's the one that's like put in the car and whatever. and then my two brothers. >> What was going on tonight? >> So, first what happened, the very first thing that happened is he was like banging on the walls or something and he came in my room and I could tell that he was drunk and it's like he can't drink. >> Is this your room to be clear? >> My room's still over there. This is his room. >> So, he came he came in your Okay. and he like snatched my phone for me and somebody was like whatever cuz you know maybe it's just he's in a bad mood and then he goes downstairs and starts this whole thing and he I guess he does something to gunner and it's like which is my dog and it's like starts this whole thing and they're yelling at him and he's yelling back and then he comes up here and I think he's done I thought he was done so he's like okay they're just yelling at each other but then he keeps coming in and out of his room yelling things and then he comes I guess he came down here with his guitar he comes running down he started chasing I guess and I didn't >> your brother >> he's a younger one >> okay >> and I didn't see cuz I was all in my room and stuff and I was literally on the phone when it was happening >> and I was like >> 911 >> um I was on the phone with my friend until he did like the running down the stairs thing so I was just muted like she couldn't hear and then once he did that even know they didn't want my mom didn't want me to cuz I was probably going to like actually go to jail cuz this isn't the first time. But I just called 911 when he did the thing. He was like screaming at her and he was like I didn't even know I didn't even see what happened but said that he chased him into his room and then whatever and I don't know I just heard him screaming and then I heard running down the steps and then they were all screaming at him. So I just immediately I knew cuz every single time something's happened with them I was the one that called 911. So, I just >> So, did you see any physical violence at all? >> I saw him. I couldn't really tell, but I saw him in the corner downstairs in the corner of our like hallway thing. He was like yelling at my mom. I couldn't I don't think he touched her or anything, but he was like yelling. He was being all up in her face. >> Did you hear any like threats or anything >> or what was he saying to her? >> I don't know. I genuinely have no idea. >> If you ask her, I I don't know. All right. >> Hearing the 14-year-old's recount of events served as the final straw. Just when they thought they'd seen it all, an officer spotted something in the father's room that confirmed the severity of the parents torment. >> So, just to be clear, you didn't see or hear anything physical, but you called because it was just getting a little hectic. >> Yeah. And I can tell like >> I can tell. >> But we definitely >> Okay. >> I figured as much. I just wanted to get her side. >> Do you have a guitar? >> Yeah. Is there is there a red car? >> Yeah. >> Looks like there's blood on the boat, TOO. >> It's this one that he used. >> There's blood all over it. >> Okay. Was he was chasing your brother with that? >> Yeah. From what? Like I heard. >> How old are you? >> 14. >> 14. >> And to be clear, this is his room. >> Yeah. Oh, this is his room. >> All right. >> I initially thought this was >> I thought that was her room. >> Okay. >> Where's your room? >> It's right there. >> Oh, where the dog is? Oh, okay. >> I do take medicine, you guys. >> Hey, sir. What's going on? >> I'm not doing good. My shoulders are very big injury. >> [snorts] >> Got a dog here. I need a red. >> Look up. >> I can't look. No more than that, man. My >> No, just look. Look straight. Don't move your head. Don't look. Don't move your head. >> Confused. Don't go up no more than that. You grab me by my neck. You punch me in my ribs and while my man go my neck up. >> The father was charged with domestic violence, endangerment, and resisting arrest. The mother was charged with resisting arrest for interfering during the incident. Both were taken into custody and child services were immediately notified. Speaking of horrible parents, this duo felt no shame in escalating an argument over financial issues with their children present. >> She grabbed my throat. Okay. But she immediately just went in. Grab >> I told her I was like, "Stop." I got to make a tie into a rocking chair. >> Like strapped in to a rocking chair. >> The amount of roaches that are in this house is like, and he doesn't even care. >> On September 24th, 2024, officers responded to a residence following a report of a woman and assaulting her husband during an argument about financial issues. But when the officers arrived, they were shocked to discover the presence of juveniles in the house. Bad night. >> Bad night. >> Drinking. >> Yeah. >> What's going on? Why is it Why was it a bad night? >> Relationship. >> My boy. >> He's good. I'm talking like I'm tired of getting my throat. >> Should grab your neck. Grab your neck. Out here. Bad night, I guess. I don't >> Man, what started all of it? >> Drinking. >> Drinking. Do y'all get to argue about something? >> Yes, sir. >> Okay. >> Yes, sir. >> What were you arguing about? >> Finances. >> Finances. Okay, I get it. >> At what point did it turn physical? >> I told her I was like, I got to go to work. And then it blew up from there. >> So, what happened exactly when it blew up? >> Is this possible? I don't have a vehicle. I feel low as in this world. >> Yeah. >> I was trying to talk trying to talk to my wife, you know, like honestly sir, it's her word against >> while we're asking you so we know what you got to say about it. >> We're just trying to have a deep like a good conversation. I >> I understand all that, but when it blew up, that's the part we need to know. A verbal argument, people argue all the time. It happens. >> It's a thing. Back to life. But what happened when it blew up? >> She put hands on me. Okay. >> Where were y'all standing on this? Inside. >> In inside. >> Okay. Yes, sir. >> Where were the kids in there with y'all? >> They were in their room. >> In their room. >> Yes, sir. >> In the kitchen and bedroom. >> In the hallway. >> In the hallway. >> So, when you say she put >> Sorry, >> when say when you say she put hands on you, how shove you as you as what? I mean, you got marks. >> She grabbed my throat. >> Okay. She immediately just went in, grabbed >> I told her I was like, "Stop." >> Okay. How did you react to that? What happened? >> I went and got my son. >> Did you shove her off of you? Like, >> of course I did. >> How did you get her away from you? >> I'm I'm not going to lie. Yes. Yes. I >> Please get off me. Please. >> Did you shove her? Did you hit her? Like, what happened? How did you >> No, I didn't. No. >> Okay. >> So, you just shoved her back with your hands. You didn't push her down. You didn't shut her back. What? >> Hold your arm. At any point, >> when she had her hand around your throat, at any point, could you not breathe or was it just more digging claws? >> We were both at the point where Yeah. she couldn't breathe. >> She couldn't breathe. >> She felt like she couldn't breathe because she was >> I mean, did you like dude? I was like, bro, that >> like while you were out, did you grab her up at the neck? She went out here and called >> Did Did you have your hand up around her neck or >> No, sir. >> Why would she feel like she couldn't breathe? It was impeding her airway. She No, I'm saying she was >> like that. I was like, >> you said she couldn't breathe. You said you both couldn't breathe. While you were shoving her away, did you shove up here? Did you shove at the shoulders? >> No, she had me like this. And I was >> I'm talking about her on you. I'm talking about the other way around. How did you get her off of me? >> I put my wrist up like this. I said, "Get off." >> The deputies were surprised to hear the husband's side of the story, who was adamant that he was the victim, but something wasn't right. And as they started to piece everything together, one of them noticed something strange about the whole scenario. >> Is there another kid in the house? Yes, ma'am. >> How old? >> Unattended. >> She's She's fine. She's >> Is there an adult in there? >> No. >> We're trying to find out if there's anybody else here. >> There is nobody here. >> Okay. Can I go see the baby real quick and make sure it's okay? >> Absolutely. >> Absolutely. >> Yep. You stay right here with them. Okay. >> Where is he? She at >> uh in the room. First throw on your right. What about your elbow? Is that pre-existing? That's Yeah, that's okay. Tommy Jones. I had Tommy Jones. Okay. But everything's good. Um, >> did you grab her back by the net? >> I'm sorry. >> You grabbed her by the nest? Yes. No. Maybe. So, >> yes. Yeah, we both >> Thank you for being on this kind of got this couple like I'm not >> Yeah, we're trying to figure it out, but that's >> We get called here. We weren't here. >> I'm not trying to lose my job. >> Yeah, we get called here. We don't know what's going on. That's why we're here trying to figure things out. Okay. >> You said that she couldn't breathe. It's cuz you were grabbing her neck, too. >> No, cuz she was grabbing. Son, >> how how does her grabbing your neck and hook her air up? You see how that doesn't make a whole lot of sense? >> I get it. >> Okay, so you did grab her by the neck. >> No, >> you just told her you did. >> You grab her by the neck. This is your one and only chance to be as honest and truthful as possible. >> When your story keeps going back and forth and you leave a lot of holes and stuff. >> Yes, sir. >> A lot of times that doesn't leave us much choice. >> Understand. Understand? >> So, right now is your time to be honest so we can figure things out. >> We were both getting physical with each other. >> Okay. >> And um >> What do you mean by physical? We got to we got to have descriptives. >> She didn't like how I was talking. She grabbed him by the neck. >> Okay. >> And I put my arms up like that, >> right? >> I was like, "Please stop." >> Okay. At what point did you grab her by the neck during that time? Afterwards, >> honestly, all I remember is doing this and saying, "Please get off." That's all. I'm not I'm not trying to dog y'all around. >> So, you don't you don't remember anything else? >> And the longer this goes and the longer your story keeps changing or you keep trailing on. I'm not trying to change. I'm not trying to change on >> I'm not trying to, but it is. >> But yeah, you're changing every time I talk to you. >> We um we both got physical with each other. She put her hands on me. >> We are well aware of that. >> And I tried just tried to tell her to drop off me and next thing I know she's out here. >> Can you just take your hair and move it out from your >> Do you have uh parents that live near here? >> Gab, please. >> How about his parents? Dell? >> No. >> Jail? >> Oh, they're in jail. >> They're in jail here. Both parents. >> His dad is dead. >> His mom is in jail, is just holding straight out. Nope. Straight out. >> His mom, which is going to >> is in jail. And Perry >> together. You're fine. We're >> I don't want any contact as far as his mom goes. >> Okay, that's fine. Just fill out that statement for me. Okay. >> Okay. It didn't take long for officers to realize that this was a drunken fight between the both of them. The level of negligence was undeniable and no excuse from the couple could justify their actions. >> Look up for me real quick. >> Just look straight up. Hold your head straight up. >> You want me to go ahead and have dispatch contact them? >> Yeah, that would be fantastic. Can >> you send me the number? >> Or if y'all can call them and have them reach out to me. They don't want to show they got a baby into a rocking chair like >> like strapped in to a rocking chair. >> Is it in a seat or something? >> Yeah, it's like a It's like a toddler rocking chair, but that's what she's sleeping in. You can't strap a baby down while they're sleeping. >> It's not like that. >> That is obvious looking at you like that. It's not It's not okay. >> Nope. >> Goodness. How old are you? >> Can you tell me how old you are? >> You're four. >> Do you know your mom's phone number? >> I don't really want cars. >> No, no. We just need a number there. It's not really an option right now. So, what is her name? >> Helena. >> Helena. >> So, she's reaching out to mom. She says she's had prior cases with them. >> Oh, she has? >> Yeah. But all the numbers they had are no longer useful. >> Oh. Oh, for the mom. >> For anybody. >> Okay. What was her last case? Did she tell you? >> She didn't tell me the last case. >> Hey, watch the dog. Watch the dog. Come here, puppy. >> Come here. >> Tony, it's a tennis ball. >> Yeah, but the best. >> The best. >> Mhm. >> Ready swing. >> I'm close. >> Close. >> Here. I got it. I'll throw it back to him. Tell him to throw it better. >> Slower. >> Yeah. >> He's winning. >> Ready? >> Oh, yeah. Good job. Push the dog's head. >> Good job. Oh no. >> Contact. That's okay. Ball. >> See it? >> Just We're not going to talk to him. Okay. >> That's fine. >> Okay. Don't run though. >> You can leave it halfway. Yeah. I'm not going to watch you. >> You got me some flowers. You're so sweet. Why didn't you put them right up there on the steps? Thank you. After digging for more information, officers discovered that one of the young ones had been subjected to awful conditions. The case had clearly taken a sharp turn for the worse, and the heartbreaking reality was finally setting in. Just then, the child protective services arrived and uncovered even more disturbing details that deepened the officer's alarm. >> Hi, >> I'm Miss Tanny with Department of Children and Families. How are you? >> Hi, >> I'm good. I need >> She doesn't know 10:15 yet. Just >> need some um telephone numbers about your little people. Evidently, it's kind of rough living in the house for him and stuff. So, can you tell me someone that maybe you guys can maybe go for the night to stay? I just tried calling your mom like seven times and she's not answering. Who else do you know in your phone that could um >> maybe, you know, take y'all in for >> your sister? What's her number? Let me look it up. >> Um, my mom, she does sleep early. Wakes up early. >> What is her address? Do you know? And I can send a deputy over there. Let me have your sister's number first since you have that pulled up. Okay. While you're sitting here, I'm going to try to call your sister, but think about somebody else, too, that maybe y'all can go to tonight. Okay. >> This little guy is having the time of his life for 11:00 at night. >> Is it okay if I step aside and check the wall? >> Yep. Go for it. So, while we're in here, we might as well go ahead and do this. Um, I need you to get a little bag for them because they're going to have to go to a friends or a family's members tonight. Okay. >> All the kids. >> Both of the kids. Yes. Right. There's no other kids, right? Just the two. >> Yeah. So, she's working on getting a family member to come and get them or >> Okay. >> A friend or something. So, >> if you just want, you know, diapers, formula, whatever. >> Yeah. A lot of roaches. >> Yeah, I see that. That's not good for those babies. >> I know. diapers, some milk. >> Do they drink just regular milk? >> My daughter does just Okay. >> My son's some regular food. >> You don't drink milk though? You don't have a cup? >> No, she doesn't. Yeah, she does not drink. >> So, what's he drink for his like >> apple juice? High seed. Is it okay if I wait till like family members get here like like early? >> Yeah. Yeah. Don't wake her right now. >> Everything's packed. Oh, is that him? >> The amount of roaches that are in this house is like and he doesn't even care. Just like touching things with him, crawling all over the place. >> You know, he's got a picture of >> Hi, Mr. I'm Tammy with Department of Children and Family. >> I need to get some names of somebody who we can possibly, you know, get these kids for the night >> if you know if you like them for the rest of the night. >> These kids are safer. No, they're not. That's That's not a choice right now. >> It's It's just not a choice. And I would rather have them go with family members than to sit in my office all night long. >> Okay. >> So, I called her sister. Who else? Who else can you think of? >> Jared Darnell. >> Who? >> Jared Darnell. >> Who is that? >> That is my best friend. He's the god. He's the godfather of my >> All right. >> You got a number for him? Where's your phone? >> 249. >> Oh, you know what? Especially your mom is not available. >> My mom is in position. >> The officers were both horrified and heartbroken at the state of the house. But even more shocking was the parents indifference. >> Here, come over and talk to me real quick, bud. Come here. All right. So, due to the nature of the allegations and both y'all, I mean, both your stories are basically the same, but at the same time, both of you uh say the other one's a primary aggressor. And when we have domestic violence issues, we have a duty to act. We can't just let it go. Okay. So, if you will turn around for me. You got anything on your person that need to be made aware of? Don't waste your change pockets. >> I'm just asking, do you have anything you need made aware of? >> Put your hands back here for me like you're praying. >> Put them together like you're praying. >> There you go. >> I got to take a piss. >> I'll come. Let's take a just a minute. >> Temper. Temper. >> I won't forget you. With both parents now in custody, the officers searched the house, discovering new evidence of their carelessness in every corner of the house. Don't get too close to the walls. What is that? >> Huh? What? >> On the roof. >> Oh, I didn't see that. [snorts] I think it was. Look at the bottom of the bag. Looks like it was a picture of that. >> Mhm. >> I hate leaving a baby in here by herself. >> Yeah. And she's wearing fleece with the damn footies cut out of it. >> With the evidence in hand, there was no question that the kids were unsafe. And with that, it was now time to give the parents a reality check they so desperately needed. >> So, listen, due to everything that occurred and the fact that you both were highly intoxicated with the children being unsupervised inside the house upon our arrival, um you're going to jail tonight. Okay? You're going to go to jail for the battery and you're going to go to jail for the child. Um, not supervising your children and being inebriated where you can't even walk is not okay when you have two small children in your house. Okay. Um, if you decide to drink like that your own property, you need to have somebody >> responsible >> responsible that can care for the well-being of those children. Um, the fact that you have her strapped in that chair, not okay. >> It's the only thing I can care to sleep in was being sucked. your husband said that you have another pack and play. Children need to be trained in every aspect of their life from the day that they're born until the day that they're grown and then even after that. So things are complicated and yes, children may not like their initial, you know, wherever in this instant sleeping, but you as a mother have to say, "Hey, this is what is safe for my child and this is what has to be done." strapping her in a chair and leaving her in a chair unsupervised in her room in the middle of the night. Not okay. Okay. I've seen kids die like that because they'll sit up and they'll put their head like this and it cuts their airway off. >> Okay. >> So, just not okay. All right. Go ahead and put your hands behind your back. So, >> who's going to watch those for the night? >> So, that DCF investigator is going to go ahead and take them and then there's somebody else that is supposed to be um retrieving them. What was Do you remember the name or >> Okay, >> I'll get you the name though. That way you know where they're Hold on. Where they're going? Okay. >> Is he generous or >> Yep. Yep. Nope. I got you. >> Okay. >> Who's coming to get the kids? >> Oh, Jared Darnell. >> Jared Darnell. >> Mhm. He's clean. He's got a valadel. >> Is that brother, sister, cousin? >> Friend, grandfather of the kids. >> Okay. Jared Darnell. >> Mhm. Jared Darnell. Do you know who that is? >> Okay. That's who's gonna come and grab him. Okay. >> That's their godfather. >> Hey, Heather, this is a a question not pertaining to your arrest. Okay. Do you have on you? No. >> No. >> Are you sure? >> Okay. I feel like I can smell it. >> Okay. Is that what was in the roof in the kids' room? Okay. Heather, have you been to jail before? >> No. >> No. Has um your other half? >> No. >> He's never been to jail either? >> Both parents were charged with and battery. Up next, we have a mother whose dangerous addictions didn't just destroy her life, they nearly [music] cost her child's as well. >> Yeah. Get her out of the house. Where's the >> guys? Mom, she's not letting me put a diaper on her. She has abandonment issues. I'm pregnant. [music] >> Have you been around her when she's high? >> Oh, yeah. >> It's bad. >> On May 2nd, 2024, officers responded to an apartment following a report of a 3-year-old child who had allegedly over. [music] When officers arrived, the heartbreaking reality of what this child had gone through finally came to light. >> A little bit more. Yeah. A little bit more. Um, yeah, extreme. >> So, I run out. I see her like being steppy and like pounding on her chest and I'm like, "What the [ __ ] happened? Like, what what's going on?" She's like, "I think she on something." I said, "Okay, well, I got her to give her to me." And I started pounding on her back and was pounding on her chest and summer, could she have gotten into anything? >> I don't remember if she said yes or no, but I know the history. So, I just immediately grabbed and I gave her windows. Uh, maybe in the left nostril. I don't remember which nostril up first. She kind of made a gasp. Um, I waited a little bit, gave her the other one in the other nostril and um well, in in the meantime of all that happening, I called 911 and got the operator on the phone and then she walked me through um putting her >> [music] >> So let her calm down. >> She just [ __ ] >> I'm happy with restraining her. >> Yeah. Get her out. Where's the child? >> I don't know what >> the grandmother painted a grim picture of how she was responsible for saving the baby's life. After hearing her story, officers knew they had to confront the mother, but she was already getting ready to put on her best act. >> I was going to take my pants off. >> Okay, I'm not looking. You lost the ability to be a >> I didn't lose the ability to be alive at all. 100% >> are medical. You have to you didn't finish your thing. I hear everything that's going on. >> Yeah, we're going to finish that at the hospital. >> So much people in here, isn't there? >> Good job. >> She's going to jail. >> I'm sorry. >> I need a bra. >> I didn't know you were an officer. I thought you were an ET. >> She needs a diaper on. That's why I'm getting her a diaper. diaper on you guys. Mom, she's they're not let me put a diaper on her. She has abandonment issues. Stop. Please. She needs a diaper. She needs a diaper. >> Please stop. >> Why? No. Please. Please stop. No. Why? I didn't know you. I thought you were ET. I was trying TO GET DRESSED. SHE DOESN'T HAVE A DIAPER ON. >> Where are diapers? >> There. They wouldn't let me grab it. That's all right. >> I wasn't even checking their >> I'll grab her a couple of >> stupid things. I didn't know they were talking. >> Is there >> I wasn't paying attention to what they are. I was just trying to get ready. I don't even know what's wrong for the hospital. >> The woman identified as Summer was clearly under the influence of some pretty gnarly substances and had lost the ability to comprehend the officer's basic commands. But her childlike behavior only continued to escalate, testing the officer's patience. >> Now they're arresting me. with a little toy that she would like to bring with. >> I'm going to double lock your handcuffs so I don't get tired on you. Okay. >> No, you guys. Please. >> I want to go. >> Please stop. Please. I want to go. >> PLEASE STOP. NO. >> You go high. I'll go. >> There's nothing in my pants. Ow. Stop. Ah, I can't breathe. I can't breathe. I can't breathe. I can't breathe. [laughter] This isn't fair. I was supposed to go the [ __ ] off with MY >> trying to make the handcuff less tight. >> IT'S TOO TIGHT. >> WHAT THE [ __ ] OFF MY HEAD? I'M HAVING A MISCARRIAGE. Flip onto your stomach then. >> Did you just see that? >> Flip onto your stomach. >> Flip onto your stomach so they can cuff. [clears throat] >> I would advise you Knew it. >> I would advise you not to assault me. >> Spy. >> I'm not your spy. >> You are right here. >> Literally on your >> That's my spy. >> Stop touching me. >> Stop touching me. >> You're under arrest. >> Okay. Well, get off of me. >> Stop moving. >> Help. Help. [screaming] Help. >> She's not let >> just let her loosen it now. >> No. >> That you're done manhandling me. >> I'll double lock them. >> Don't loosen it. Please. >> Ow. >> Stop yelling at me. >> No. It hurts. >> Stop moving. >> So far, the officers had exhibited nothing but the highest level of patience. But when she crossed a crucial line, it pushed the officer's patience to its breaking point. >> Okay, girl. Please loosen the cuts. >> You should be and she's fine, YOU >> DON'T ASSAULT A WOMAN. >> YOU were assaulted. >> Yeah, you touched me. >> Quiet. Stop. >> Be quiet. He is the least of your worries right now. Be quiet. >> Let go of him. >> BE QUIET. >> HIS BE QUIET. >> ADJUST HIM. Is that working with me? Listen to me. I'm trying to adjust it. >> This is my house. Till I get to your house >> right now. This is not your house. >> Please be quiet. >> We're in here. >> Please. >> I WANT TO GO TO THE HOSPITAL. >> THIS WASN'T SUPPOSED TO HAPPEN. [screaming] LIKE THAT. >> QUIET. >> STOP. NO. I don't want to go. >> Stay like that and your handcuffs. OKAY. >> NO. >> OKAY. That's fine, too. I'm talking to this stupid dog. >> He's jumping on me. >> It's adult. >> You're talking. >> It's adult. >> I'm literally having a miscarriage right now. And you're putting me in handcuffs right now. I'm still technically pregnant. That's illegal. >> Like seriously. >> You want to wait or you want to? >> Uh let's Are they clear down there? Why would you do that? >> For evidence. >> Evidence of what? >> Of child. It's not child ingested somehow. >> I don't even know if SHE DID. I DIDN'T HAVE ANY. >> WELL, generally when somebody wakes up from taking that only means that they've been >> I thought too much on the Tums. Do you see the Tums? We were all just napping. >> Yeah. The hospital figure that out. >> Well, you don't need to. [music] >> No, please. You're sweaty. >> No. I'm obviously cough. Stop. >> Stop. Don't touch me. [laughter] >> No, you're staying here. Figured out. >> No. Why do you want to put your body on me? I'm not doing anything. >> All you need to do is sit here and not get off my body. >> We want you to stop moving. >> Stop moving. If you stop moving and you sit calmly >> then I'll stop. >> Don't touch me. >> She is like being super squirly and squirming around. So >> because they're touching me and they're sweaty. I asked them to stop. >> Stay still. >> My room was literally just clean. Now you're trying to think, oh child. Oh, I have too much clothes. >> It's not really the clutter we're worried about. It's all the access. Go. >> Despite being responsible for nearly costing her child's life, the woman refused to take responsibility for endangering her daughter. But then she said something so unhinged that it left no doubt about her guilt. >> All right. Now, let me double lock these so I don't get any tighter on you. Okay. >> So, can I take some of my in before I go into the gel? And >> are you going to overdose? >> How can I overdose? >> You're going to overdose once. >> No, I'm not going to overdose. I need to give a couple to the nurse and then I'll have one. >> Okay. Take a look around you. >> Yeah. >> Mom, I still wasn't taking photos. My [ __ ] room that I just tore apart. >> Let's go. Let's go. If you find her car key, let me know. >> Okay. >> As officers dug through the chaos in her room, more evidence emerged to strengthen the case. And when Summer's mother arrived, she revealed even more horrifying details. >> Are you a police officer? >> I am. >> Okay. >> I am. What does her uh keys look like? Here we go. Just trying to see what uh that child might have taken. >> Um the last time I saw anything like I saw foil >> was in a um little container on her >> nightstand. >> Nightstand, but that's all I saw. Was that today? >> No. She is a chronic user >> of what? >> Um, she goes to places where she will get clean. >> Okay. >> But yeah, we've been fighting for >> your mom. >> Your mom, I'm assuming. >> She's not on the lease, but I can't I can't leave. >> Um, yeah, you would have to get like a uh eviction. So, you can do that through the courts or if you feel like there's other issues that require a protection order, you can file for one of those at the courthouse as well. And um those are kind of your two options right now for not having her here. >> This is what I saw the foil in. >> That's what you found the foil in? >> Yeah, it was on the table when I saw it. >> The last time? >> Yeah. >> How long ago was that? >> No, that was um maybe a little bit before lunchtime. >> Oh, today? >> Yeah. Yeah. >> Oh, okay. Did the daughter admit to you at all she was using >> today? [music] No, >> she didn't. >> She did not admit anything. >> But you know your daughter is addicted to >> Yeah, I know she's addicted to some I I think it's I can't be for certain. >> She was asking to take her and she wouldn't >> Yeah, she [music] was she doesn't have any right now. She's out. >> Is there a reason you keep in on >> Well, I'm also uh kind of in the medical field. I I um I'm a tech licensed vette tech um and I know my daughter uses so I wanted to have it on hand and then I work at the new med in Vancouver. We've had a couple of overdoses out there. So that's why >> you're trying to help your daughter get clean. >> I'm trying. >> Do you know it's it's damn near impossible to keep the kids safe while you're trying. It's too much on one person. >> Believe me, I know. I have been struggling >> over work trying to save one over the other. >> You know what I mean? >> Yeah. Yeah. So that's going to be a tough that's a tough family decision. You know what I mean? >> Um yeah, I saw no remorse. >> She's not in her right frame of mind right now. So I'm not going to fault her for that. >> It was clear that Summer was in no state of mind to take care of her child. But things took an even darker turn when her mother recounted events from the incident. >> What What did you do before you called us? >> Oh, I came out of my room cuz I was sleeping cuz I work graveyard cuz I heard Summer screaming. Um, and I saw her coming out of her room holding a limp and I asked her what the is going on. She said, "Did she on something?" She said she's And I'm like, "Okay." So, we brought her in my room. I took her from Summer and started [music] pounding on her back, pounding on her chest, and I wasn't getting any results. I said, "Summer, could she have gotten into anything? Could she have gotten into anything?" And she, I believe, said, "There's a possibility or something like that." Or maybe I'm making that up. I don't know. Um, I said, "Call 911." She went in her room to find her phone and I was like at that point also trying to get my I had my in my drawer next to my bed. >> So, you're worried that you're >> I was [music] cuz she was totally unresponsive, just limp. Uh, lips were blue. Administered the first dose in her I think her left right mouth full. She made like a little bit of a breath. [music] So, I'm like, "Okay, she's coming around." I kept talking to her. Oh, and by that time, um, I did have 911 on the phone. No, I didn't. I didn't have them on the phone yet. >> And this was after you gave her the dose, right? >> Yeah. And then I gave her the second dose because the first she still wasn't, you know, coming around. Well, after the second dose is when um I got a little bit more of a um response. Like she breathed a little bit better. Um maybe a couple of like, >> you know, kind of breaths like that. >> Short breaths. >> Yeah. And I was still screaming at some. I said, "Call 911. call anyone with cuz she still wasn't nothing had happened. So I'm like I think in the middle of of giving the second or I don't know if I'd already given the second dose or before I gave the second dose I uh called 911 on my phone because it was right there and so she she was breathing. I could hear it. I could feel it. Her chest was rising up and down. And then she eventually like right before you guys came she actually looked like alert. I put her on her side just in case she's, you know, vomited and Summer was um putting clothes on her and then I heard the knock on the door. I went downstairs, open the door for you guys. >> From everything that Summer's mother had unveiled so far, it was apparent that she deserved to be locked away for good. Just then, Summer's mom told officers another minor detail that would seal her fate even more. >> Have you been around her when she's high? >> Oh, yeah. >> It's bad. when she gets money in her pocket, she don't know how to act. But it hasn't been a constant, you know, usage, she's had her moments of sobriety and getting clean and then for whatever reason, something triggers her and she starts using again. He was trying to get custody of the girls basically. Um, so there's like a parenting agreement that's not a finalized parenting agreement. Long story short, we've had these girls full-time for a year now cuz he got charged with I don't remember exactly the charges for him, but he he's never actually gone to court yet for that because he doesn't come to the court him for that. And he's just recently got charged with and went to court for residential burglary. >> Oh, okay. >> So, he hasn't had any contact with these girls for a year now. >> Um, but when Summer >> Yeah. When Summers tried to get full custody here, they wouldn't do it because that case is still going on in Greece Harbor. So, it's I yeah, it's just a hot mess and I don't know how to fix it. >> My assumption is that CPS will probably get involved and at least temporarily place the kids in your >> place the kids in your custody. >> So, are you the one that took Summer to the >> No, he's done. officer is embarrassed as the one I took. >> But when I'm trying to be very calm with her and patient with her. So >> yeah, when she gets upset, it's really really hard to get her. >> You know what I'm saying? And and I don't know if she's used today, but I know she if she hasn't used, she's at least coming down. That affects her as well. She's mean as hell. >> I know it may not be the way you want to do it, but we know the outcome going that way will be what is best for >> Yeah. Cuz what if I hadn't been here? Okay. She did not even want any of her to take files. >> To be honest with you guys, and you can write it in your book cuz I will tell the judge, she didn't even want me calling 911. [music] She did not want me to call 911. She tried to stop. She did hang up at one point. Nobody had answered yet, but I called them back. I mean, that's just cuz [music] she doesn't want to get in trouble. Yeah. >> For the Right. And I understand that, but god damn it, the baby's like, "Right," >> it wasn't long before an officer came back to deliver some harrowing news to the baby's grandmother, leaving everyone present in absolute shock. >> Uh, Jessica, so he said, "For now, it's going to be the just a generic office number. I can give that to you." He said that um somebody is going to probably get assigned to the kids at probably like 7 or 8 in the morning. Um hopefully there'll be a a specific person you get up there at that point. >> Are they all felony? >> Nope. Uh two of them are felonies, three of them. Um so the she was charged with obstruction, resisting and possession of control substance being defend. So those are all three are misdemeanors and then felony of uh child the second degree and endangerment uh with a controlled sex. >> Any other questions for us? All right. I appreciate your cooperation. >> No worries. >> Yeah. >> Thank you as well. >> Summer was charged with endangerment involving a controlled substance, criminal mistreatment in the second degree, resisting [music] arrest, obstructing a law enforcement officer, and possession of a controlled substance. The horror only deepened when deputies encountered a mother whose behavior had turned dangerously unpredictable towards her own child. >> They're going to take the baby away if you don't come and eat. >> She's like drunk out of her mind. cuz she also she also said okay stop. >> She also said what something like you cannot kick my baby. Why are you scaring my child by you're not >> you have it on camera. >> You are not. >> On April 20th, 2024, police tracked down an aggressive mother who had gotten into a physical altercation with her family after they expressed concerns over her alcohol consumption. In the process, she assaulted her 14-year-old niece before taking off with her 2-year-old daughter. And when officers finally found the lady in a convenience store, she didn't seem the slightest bit ashamed of her actions. >> She's right here. >> Ma'am, what's going on with you and your >> Nothing. >> Okay. Do you want to want to stop and talk to us? >> Come on, >> ma'am. I'm trying to talk to you. >> I know. What do What is it that you need? >> Okay. Your mom called us. >> I don't know why she kicked me out the car. What happened before we got here? >> Uh, nothing. She was harassing me. Call my little daughter a little [ __ ] and I got out the car cuz I cannot stand still. >> Can you Can you stand still? >> Yeah. I mean, I have a a kid on me. How would I stand still? What the >> What the >> What happened? >> Nothing. >> Why would you call 911? >> I want to put her sweater on the floor. >> Do you mind? >> We're trying to talk to you. We're trying to >> What is it that you need? >> What do you mean? You're obviously not. telling you I'm not raising YOUR VOICE >> AND I'M NOT RAISING MY VOICE UNLESS you are. It's not funny talk little and I need to leave the car because I don't stand that talk to you. My daughter does not need to be talked like that. There's nothing other than water and a bottle in here. So you can check that. >> Don't hold up. >> I don't need to hold up cuz I'm not arrested. I know my >> No, no, no. You don't know that cuz you also She also said Okay, stop. She also said what? 14-year-old. >> Do not grab me when I have my daughter in my hand. >> Well, then don't walk away. >> I'm not. >> But don't touch me. Don't touch me. >> Don't move. >> And you have a camera on you. Yes, I do. Don't touch me. >> Then don't try walking away. >> I AM NOT. I'M TALKING to you >> before we lock you up and take your daughter away. >> I'm not going to take my daughter away. >> Stop. Just Just stop. LISTEN. WHERE DID THIS >> WOW, that's amazing. >> Where did this all stem from? Just where did it start today? What happened? >> We were at Enchanted Castle >> and she never wants to spend money on us. And >> so you were at Enchanted Castle. What What happened from there? >> Are youing serious? >> What What happened from there? >> She called my little daughter a [ __ ] That's not acceptable in any parent term. >> She's She's saying you your brother, whoever. >> Nobody. >> Okay. >> I didn't anybody. She wants to take my daughter because she's white >> and she just wants her and I just wanted to be left alone. So, I left the car and I have my Uber picking me up right now. That's not even fair. She just wants me to fail in life. It's nothing. >> All right. >> What I want to know right now, are you in a state to take care of your your daughter? >> Yes, I got her bottle and everything. Officer, please. Please. >> Have you had any alcoholic beverages today? Are you >> No, you can check the dis. You can check it right now. Check it, please. Please. >> Where are you going? Where are you going to go though? Where? >> I have the Uber setting me up right now. And like I said, I'm just tired of everyone just picking on me. Officer, please. I don't even know your name. >> It's officer. I'm so sorry. Trying to take my daughter. >> What's your first name? >> Olivia. >> Olivia. >> And I just >> Do you have a middle initial? >> No. >> What's your date of birth? >> This is the last time they tried to take my daughter from me. I can't believe she said that. >> Okay. >> I would just leave it in peace. I don't know why she's always trying to take my kid. Despite being extremely intoxicated, the lady identified as Olivia still had the nerve to try and spin the narrative in her favor. Unlucky for her, she was dealing with a nononsense cop who wasn't phased by such dramatics. >> What's your address? >> I don't have one. >> You don't have an address? Are you homeless? >> Yes. That's why that's why they're trying to please don't take her. >> All right. Hold on. >> Oh, please. >> Stay right here. >> No. >> Do you have anybody else that can come? Please. I can show you. >> All right. Just hang on tight. You don't don't go anywhere. Okay. >> I don't know why she's doing this, but I really want the chase. >> All right. Just that's not a good idea. It's not just doing this on purpose. >> All right. Just hang out right here. Okay. >> As of the moment, the officer wasn't sure who to pin the blame on. But that all changed once Olivia's sister arrived on the scene. the alleged [music] victim >> was uh in there uh grabbing liquor. Uh she walked in front of a car with a I don't need to explain all this to you. Um they're gonna take the baby away if you don't come and get >> She's like drunk out of her mind. She walked in front of a car with a in front of a car. So a car one. >> She's nuts. >> You you you got to take the baby before the state takes the baby away from So she's going to get arrested. Hearing the details of Olivia's psychotic behavior surprised the officers, but they had no time to dwell on their newfound shock as one of the officers spotted Olivia attempting to flee towards the train tracks. >> Man, stop. All right. >> Get the get give me >> No. >> Oh my god. My god. myself. >> Give me the baby. >> No. Give me the baby. You cannot kick my baby. >> You are You are No. Let go of her. >> No. Leave her alone. Leave her behind. >> What's wrong with What's wrong with you? Cuz you're telling me your hands. >> Put your hands behind your back. >> Me. Look at you me with my daughter. >> Put your hands behind your back. >> Right here. >> Put them behind your back. >> And what happened? >> You're scaring my daughter. >> Psycho breath. >> I got it. >> Yeah. It fell on the >> Now you're under arrest. >> You let that happen. >> She did that. >> You think it's safe walking? >> No. Can you tell me the phone? >> You brought this upon yourself. >> We're at you doing this. >> Uh just just one more car. I'm letting you. Please don't let it take. >> No. Well, no. It's too late now. >> Please. >> Nope. >> I know it's No, but I was listening to you more than him. >> And you're obviously under influence. >> I'm not. I'm not. My phone fell. >> I can smell it on your breath. Are you not in any state to make any smart decision? >> It's okay. I'll get her back. That's my daughter. I love >> I'm open. >> We're going to get on you. any weapons. Try to take that wrong with you guys. I got have something on. I I can't not not have this on me. Look. >> Well, get it off. >> I'm going to get it off right now. Sit down. >> Uh, one female in custody. The officers were not willing to take any more risks of leaving the child in Olivia's care, as she had demonstrated just how unfit she was to be a parent. And instead of feeling shame over her actions, Olivia's nasty attitude continued all the way down to the station. >> They just hawking you up for no reason. >> Relax. What's your Okay. What is your first name? What's your name, young lady? >> Olivia Agelar. I'm pretty sure they should have told you that before I came in here. >> First of all, don't talk to me like that right now. >> I'm not talking I'm answering your question. My name's Olivia Agalar. They should have told you that before I came in here, >> young lady. Nobody's told me anything about you yet. Okay. >> Now, >> thanks. >> Turn around. Face me, young lady. >> Yeah, I'm sure I need to hide myself. >> What's your current address? >> Don't have one. >> What is your last known address? >> Don't have one. I've been homeless. I have I actually have the on on my phone. um housing. So you can see that I have not one. >> What is your name? >> I just told you my name. Olivia Aguar. >> Good enough. >> How is that my name? Patricia. >> Good enough. >> Great. I'm glad we have this conversation. >> Young lady, you can be going over in about 20 minutes. >> I am going home in 20 minutes. This is ridiculous. You're asking me questions as you know. >> I am waiting for a lawsuit. I am so waiting for that. >> Good. YOU CAN GET >> SO waiting for it. >> You can get in line with it. Good. Then I will. >> Olivia was subsequently arrested for disorderly conduct, fleeing from an officer, obstructing justice, domestic assault of a young person, and endangerment. [music] If you thought that was bad, wait until you see a deranged mother who dropped substances in her kid's pocket during [music] a traffic stop. >> She was hiding something. It was a bot full. Nope, we're not playing that. Stand up. >> Stand up, >> ma'am. Stand up. >> Stand up. >> Stand up. >> Check his back and his waistband. If you just put something in him, he's going to be taken away from you. Did you or did you not? >> On June 6th, 2023, officers initiated a routine traffic stop on a vehicle. Inside was a mother and father with their children. But the encounter quickly spiraled when the woman attempted to use her kids to conceal illegal contraband hidden in the car. >> How's it going? >> Hey. >> Hey, Mr. Smith. This is Steven. >> Who? >> Steven. >> Okay. >> A couple times. >> Okay. Uh, you don't have a tag on your trailer, >> but there is a tag. >> There is one for you >> if you put in Jerry William Howard the second. >> Okay. Well, see, I'm not I don't have a crystal ball. And if there's no tag on them, I can't make heads or tails of it. >> Yes, sir. >> So, there's not a tag on the vehic on the trailer at all. >> You got your license on you? >> No, sir, I don't. >> Cuz I hurt my hand. >> You hurt your hand? >> You ain't You're able to eat, though? >> Yeah, but I can't do like this, but my hand >> You got your driver's license? >> I don't know. You don't have a driver's license? >> All right, step out for us. >> From the very first moment officers approached the family, something felt off, like an encounter that would only unravel darker layers the longer it went on. And before long, their instincts proved dead on. >> Can you roll this window down? Just step back here for me. So, whose vehicle is this house? >> Uh, where you guys coming from? >> Uh, we were coming from Walmart. She had to meet her mama there to get some money and we stopping here to get some ice and some water for the cool house. >> The vehicle belongs to her. trailer belongs to her and her dad, but the registration's under. >> Okay. Is there anything illegal in the vehicle? Any illegal mar? Anything like that? >> Just the kids. >> There's kids in there. >> Yes, sir. >> I didn't see any kids. >> Yes, sir. >> Okay. >> Do y'all have a show? >> They're just documenting us what we do. That's all. And you got that many suspensions. >> What your name? Uh pulled me over like a month and a half ago and he said I didn't have no habitual or nothing on it. >> No, I didn't say you had habitual. that many suspensions. You don't you don't have a license at all. Yes, sir. >> You can't drive, dude. >> You're gonna go to jail. >> I know. >> You know, and because of all the past arrests you've had. >> Yes, sir. >> How many times you been arrested for driving? >> For driving? >> Yeah. >> Once. >> Just once. Yes, sir. >> All right. This will be number >> like forever ago. >> Okay. Well, if if you got arrested today, it' be number two. Your third one's a felony. >> It's still a felony. >> Yeah. >> Stop doing that. >> No. No. Because you got a DUI. >> Yeah, >> you got a Yeah. >> Oh, yeah. Yeah. 27. I'm forgot I did have a DUI. >> Yeah. >> I wasn't arrested for that. >> But your girl's got a valid license. >> I know. She hurt her hand and I was stupid for driving for >> She's going to have to drive. Just Just hold tight a minute. Okay. >> She's got a valid license. And of course, he doesn't he's not habitual or anything. He's got one prior for uh for driving. But uh there's no reason why she can't drive. >> There was something when I walked up there and she reached underneath the seat or something. 99 is on his way. >> Okay. How many how many youngies is in the car? >> Okay. Y'all would step out. >> But yeah. >> Hey, your shoes. Can you shoot? >> Am I able to get the ball? >> When we get done, step over here, buddy. Hey, she's sitting on a pipe. >> With the discovery of a pipe, the situation suddenly shifted into far more serious territory. Made all the more concerning by the fact that the couple's children were right there with them. >> You got a medical card? >> Um, >> yes or no? >> Yeah. Okay. I mean, there's not that much. I >> I ain't worried about I'm going to see if they'll come up here for a minute. >> Yeah. I do. >> Okay, you're good. You don't have anything on your broad, anything like that. Hey, I know y'all don't have guns or anything. Y'all able to kind of stand there and just watch? >> Absolutely. Absolutely. >> So, we can speed this up. Just take your good. >> Oh, no. I got the balloon. >> Okay. That's the one he's blowing up. >> Ain't nothing in the vehicle that's going to get you in trouble today. I guess he has that in there. Feel a bit. She was hiding something. It was a box full. You ever need a spare tooth? That's gross. Residue in that straw. >> I don't know, but it's worth checking for sure. >> She was hiding that what she was doing. I walked. She I scared her. She didn't see me standing where I was at. I asked her if she had anything on her and she kind of looked away. So, >> you want to walk back here real quick? >> Yep. I'm bring your popcorn. >> We're just going to go in front of this gold car. Um I'm super easy going. Okay. >> I know. As long as you're honest with me, I can work with you. If you lie to me, there ain't nothing I can do for you. Okay. >> So, with that being said, there is a female coming out here. Do you have anything on you that's going to get you in trouble? >> No. >> You don't have anything in your bra? Nothing in your pants? >> No. >> Okay. Cuz she's going to come out here and check. >> Okay. >> So, I just didn't want you to lie and >> All right. >> tow charge. Okay. >> All right. I'm going hang out back up here. >> Little girl wants to go to bed. >> Mama wants to let them go in there by themselves. >> If they can go in there by themselves. No, we can't let you. Okay. Well, just hang tight for just a minute. >> I'll go. >> I can't let you go in there right now. >> You grab this stuff, but I'm going to go test that stroll. >> 9:30. >> I know who you are. >> You ain't made good choices, have you? >> No, you're not. >> No, you're not. If you if you got drug and it was a narcotics and you see it's not working on your life except making it worse. So don't don't kid yourself. >> The woman tried to play the victim, insisting [music] she was turning her life around, but the officers weren't buying it. By now, they'd seen enough to know she had a habit of twisting the truth. And coming up, one officer revealed a shocking detail about her past. >> We're not trying to be mean or disrespectful, but we wouldn't be in this situation. We wouldn't be in this situation if you were driving. If you had a tag on a vehicle and you didn't have >> this trailer for a year and no one's [ __ ] with me about and I gave you the name, show it was >> that name went in this deer and let out this one cuz cuz I was dealing with other things. >> Okay, >> don't mind. Pause. Jason, you mind? I think she's got it on her. She uh she has actually spent the night in my house. She was high school friends in my daughter and she looks 1 million times different now than what she did then. And she's telling me, she said, "Mr. Smith, you know who?" I said, "I know exactly who you are." I said, "You're not making good choices, are you?" "I'm trying." I said, "No, you're not. You got illegal narcotics in the vehicle, will you?" That's not making good choices with your kids. when I told her that there was a female coming that she wanted to start. Oh, I got to go to the bathroom. I need to take the blah blah blah. >> Yeah. So, she she wanted to leave and go to the bathroom. When I asked her if she had anything on her, she kind of not looking right. She's reaching her pocket right now or she's reaching in his pocket. >> She's reaching in her waistband. >> What did you just do? >> Nope. We're not playing that. Stand up. Stand up, >> ma'am. Stand up. >> Stand up. >> Stand up. >> Check his back and his waistband. >> If you just put something in him, he's going to be taken away from you. Did you or did you not? >> No. >> You didn't put anything in his pants. >> This coin purse, honey, I got to get this out. Okay. >> Are you kidding me? >> Really? >> Are you me? Do not reach up. >> Turn around. >> Turn around. Put your hands behind your back. >> I didn't ask you. I told you to put your hands behind your back. Philip, take her over there, please. You just put that in his pants. >> I'm sorry. It's >> okay, baby. Relax. It's okay. >> Okay. Hey, listen. Stop. Stop. Stop. Hey, listen. Do you have anything else on you? >> No. >> Okay. Listen. Face the car. Okay. >> I got to search you. Nothing that's going to poke or stick me, right? >> At this point, the reality of their actions seemed to hit hard. Both parents were headed to jail and with the circumstances at hand, it was only a matter of time before DCFS stepped in. >> Hey, sweet. Hey, sit right here for me. Hey, what's your name? Hey, just calm down, baby. This ain't your fault. I'm talking to her. Calm down for me. Okay. No. Just stop talking. The whole coercion of telling her what to say was right there just a come out of your mouth. No, you said if they happen to ask >> and then you told her what to say. That's swear to God. >> No. No. No. And you want to know why there's a test kit on the hood? Because the scroll that was in your seat tested positive formings. That's why. >> So you're probably going to jail, too. I mean, if they're stuffing kids stuff down kids pants. No, the girl >> just sitting there for >> Yeah. I cannot believe she was watching me. As soon as you pulled up, she I watched her put it in the back of his pants. >> What the pants or >> She pulled it out of her pants and put it in his pants. I hate when people involve like that, man. I hate I hate I got an attitude with you, but that really pisses me off when you start diving off into kids with stuff like that. That's that's ridiculous. >> I told her no. I'm sorry, sir. >> Well, she Why you going to get her out of jail? >> Because I She got you. >> Yeah. And you see what she's I'm sorry. >> Can I call her to come and get us? >> You can call her here. Can you >> Can I call her to come and get us? >> Absolutely. I watched her as soon as Jesse pulled up. I watched like she wanted to give her back. She took it out of her pants and put it in his pants. >> I charged her with child endangerment. Well, I don't have gloves on. You want to test this real quick? >> I could not believe. Dude, I got goosebumps that pissed me off so bad. >> Towards the edge. Is it in here? >> Yeah, it's it was in the front of her pants and she took it out. I walked over there and she catched under a blue bag of >> Yes, I seen it. Get darker than that. Nope. He's going to do this. >> Yes. For what? For the possession of that. >> I didn't have that. >> I didn't know that was there. I was just >> Have a seat. >> I I'll be honest. >> Can the kids have my money, please? >> We'll talk about that in a minute. Just Just have a seat full of >> What was on the stairs first? >> Uh big old thing. Probably the darkest test kit I've ever seen. Officer Smith, I do not >> That's a positive test. >> Well, sir, I do not smell. >> Okay. Well, it was in that little That was a little heart in the little box. >> Yes. >> And that's what that's what >> that one good. >> Yeah. >> Hey, that's her. >> All right. Have a seat. >> Give him a seat. >> Yes. >> Even if she says it's hers. >> Yes. Have a seat. >> Mean. The man was charged with possession while the woman faced charges of both possession and endangerment. That mother was unfit to be a parent and so was this toxic mom who saw no problem in assaulting her kid. >> He's beating him with a freaking touch lamp. >> My son has autism and he likes to make a lot of dramatic things happen. >> Hard she had to guess like an estimate of 0 to 10. >> Eight or nine. Okay. >> Too many. On September 10th, 2023, officers were called to a residence after reports surfaced of an intoxicated woman allegedly using bedroom furniture to discipline her 14-year-old son. >> Can you explain what happened to this officer when I was here with her dad? >> I'm 14 years old. >> 14. >> Yeah. >> All right. Well, tell me tell me what's going on. What what happened today? >> So, tonight my mother, you know, she's been drinking heavily. >> Where is your mother right now? >> She's currently inside the house. Uh either in the backyard or her bedroom. >> Okay. Um, so we we've dealt with her being blackout before. So I went in my room trying to avoid conflict and she come she comes in there and starts like drunk and rambling like saying nonsense. I'm like, "Mom, please leave my room. I don't want you in here right now." So she gets up my face and I put my arms up like this, you know, cuz I don't know if she's going to hit me or not. And she does. She goes and swings down her arm like this. And so I push her back with my foot. >> Where'd she hit you? >> Uh, she hit me like in the forearms. >> Okay. Not very hard, but you know, obviously. And so she goes and takes my lamp off my desk and starts hitting me with that me like kind of in the side, the right side. >> I don't know if there's any marks or not. So I get up and so she goes to swing again and the cord it goes and it hits me in the back. That's when my father comes in, is able to restrain her before she's able to hit me anymore. And after that, she hit me with my school backpack. After he left and took the lamp with him, she picked up my school backpack from the ground, which was like loaded with stuff, and went and swung it on my head. And that's when she left my room, kind of shut myself in, and then my grandparents pulled up and we've called you guys, and here we are now. Okay. >> What the son revealed was deeply unsettling, leaving the officer with no doubt about the seriousness of the call. Moments later, the father shared his version of events. >> She goes, "Then my son, I I hear a pro or my my son first comes out and he's like, "Man, mom's been drinking. Can you go deal with that?" I was like, "Man, she's pretty mad at me, man. I think I'm just going to stay out here." And then I hear a big commotion. I go in there and they're in a fight in his bedroom. He's just in his room trying to avoid it. He's been through it before. >> Sure. >> And I go in there and she's beating him with a freaking touch lamp and it's in the back of my truck. We took it from her. >> Okay. >> And I restrained her. I was like, "You don't put your hands on those kids anymore." >> Like, she beat him with a freaking cord. And like, he's 15 years old with autism. >> Mhm. >> And my daughter's 7 years old, extremely autistic. >> Where's your daughter right now? >> She's at the neighbor's house in the neighborhood, everything coming. So, she's playing. She's out of the way. >> That's right. So, the only person in the house is your wife. >> Yep. And and a dog, Jackie. We have a American bulldog. He's like 10, 11, 12 years old. He's deaf. He's super friendly. Like, he will not hurt you. >> Concerned about that. I have a a gun safe in freaking our our garage. She has no access to it, you know. >> So, >> any other weapons she would have access to is like what? Kitchen knife. >> Yeah, just a kitchen knife or something like that. >> Did she hit you at all during this entire situation? Was there any battery against you? >> No. >> No. >> The only per What about your daughter? >> Nope. >> But she was just saying >> he's the only one that's >> Yeah, that's been physically hit. Okay. >> Yeah. >> Up to this point, the officers had only heard the story from the son and the father. both pointing to an intoxicated mother who lashed out at her kids. But soon the officers would hear directly from the mother herself for the first time. >> I am just trying to figure out what the is going on because I've been in contact with my >> Well, clearly we're here for a reason. So stop with the attitude. >> You understand me? We're not going to play this game where you yell over me every time I'm trying to talk to you. It's not happening. Okay? We need to talk to you about what's going on today and you need to kill it with the attitude. >> I didn't >> I'm trying to get your name. You don't need to BE DISRESPECTFUL. I'M TELLING YOU MY NAME. I HAVE TWO middle names. >> You're being disrespectful while you do it. And you're talking over me again. It's absolutely unacceptable. We're here to try to figure out what's going on. >> I haven't done anything. >> Well, you won't even give us a chance to ask you. >> I just told you my name. >> Stop talking over me. >> I didn't. >> We're not playing this game, >> dude. I'm not playing a game. I've been taking care of my kids. I've been over at my grandma's house helping over there. I haven't done anything. I have been on the phone with my with my family. >> Just for one second. Lower the lower the volume. Okay, we're standing right here. >> I'm tapping one of my ears. I'm sorry I'm loud. >> Are you done? >> Where do you work? >> You guys stay at home mother. >> What do you think her intent was in swinging that? How hard was she swinging it? >> You seen how hard? >> Pretty hard, man. out out of your if you had to guess like an estimate of 0 to 10. 10 being all of her might, zero being nothing. What do you think? >> Eight or nine. >> Okay. >> 10 if she was sober. >> Okay. >> Man, we we've dealt with this and we dealt with it and like nothing's changing it. Like she was good for a long time. We haven't had a problem like >> Yeah. >> for a while. But when she stops taking medication, she drinks, you know, but I feel she was mad at me, but like yell at me. Don't hit me with a lamp for Don't have my kids. >> Yep, I get it. >> You know what? I can take it. They can't. They can't, man. They can't. >> By this point, it seemed certain the woman would be spending the night in jail. But when officers spoke with her again, it became clear she had no real grasp of the seriousness of what had just unfolded. >> I don't know what the hell happened and I'm tired of it. I didn't touch your cops. That's the bottom line. >> Has she been Miranda? >> No, not yet. >> Okay. >> Oh my god. >> I'm just trying to figure out what's going on before I go. I'm trying to figure out what's going on, too. I don't understand. >> Hey, so right now we're performing an investigation. Okay, you're detained. You're not free to leave. I have some questions for you. Okay, >> I'm going to read you your rights so that way you're fully apprised of them >> going forward. Okay, >> you understand these rights. >> I just need a verbal yes or no. >> Do you need anything? >> Okay, we we'll talk about that. I just need to know that you understand those rights. Do you need me to reexlain any of them? Do you understand what I told you? >> No. >> Okay. You don't understand them. >> No, I understand you. I don't need you to explain it again. >> Okay. >> You understand the rights as I read them to you. >> I just wanted to go to bed. I've been >> Okay. Well, here here's the deal. I'm going to take your your desire to not have me reexlain those that you understand. >> All weekend. >> Miss Shanning, what happened tonight? >> I don't know. I've been cleaning my house and making the dinner. I've been on the phone with my grandparents. >> What happened tonight? This is your opportunity to give me your side of the story [music] cuz I haven't heard it from you yet. >> I'm just telling you. I've cleaned my house. I made fried chicken and mashed potatoes and green beans. I've been on the phone with my best friend and my sister-in-law and talking about having an high tea. I've been on the phone with my mother-in-law. I've been on the phone with my brother. He came home after a week away. >> It quickly became clear the woman had a habit of casting herself as the victim, even going so far as to blame her meltdown on her husband. But as time went on, it was obvious the officers weren't buying it. >> Hold your hands out for me. Flip them over there. There there's obviously more that happened tonight, and I I want to get your side of it. So, you you seem very upset with Connor. What What's the deal? >> I am not upset with Connor. Well, I've heard a lot of a lot of swearing in that direction and >> I am a sailor. Anyway, >> okay, >> that's my son. I have not touched Connor. I don't know what the is going on. I don't know what is happening right now. >> What happened? What happened tonight in his room? >> I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I've been on the phone with my friends all night. I cooked dinner and I've been on the phones on the phone. >> Why would someone tell us otherwise? because my son has autism and he likes to make a lot of dramatic things happen and he likes to have one person on on his side at a time. Okay. >> And my husband just got home and that's the one that he would probably prefer on his side because he's the one. >> Tell me about that lamp that's in the back of that truck. What's the story with that? >> I don't know. >> How did it get damaged? >> I don't know. I didn't touch my son. >> Okay. Well, how did he get his big welt on his back? I don't know. >> I'll be perfectly frank. There's multiple people. >> I don't know. How did I get this scar on my face? How did I get curb stomped? How did I get anything wrong with me? Why don't you ask that man over there? He likes to hurt hurt our family and do a lot of So, I'm the one in the wrong, I guess. >> Let's Let's talk about what happened tonight. Again, I want to give you an opportunity to tell me what >> occurred. Anything tonight. This is insane. >> Okay. Well, there's evidence at Twilight. There's multiple pieces of evidence that say otherwise. >> I didn't >> And I want to give you the opportunity to tell me your side of the story. Right now, >> telling you I wasn't didn't do anything. >> Right now, I don't believe that. Based off of your level of agitation, your emotion right now tells me that you're >> something that happens all the time. I didn't >> So, you hit your son all the time. Oh my god. Okay. >> You're not going to do not blow away. >> I didn't do anything. >> Yeah, if you would. Thank you. >> I didn't touch my son. I didn't touch him. >> Okay, we'll we'll discuss this a little bit more. Okay. >> What are you talking about? I didn't do anything. >> Take this one. >> I HAVEN'T EVEN TOUCHED IT. I DIDN'T DO ANYTHING. I DIDN'T DO ANYTHING. >> You need to relax. Breathe. >> I didn't touch it. >> No. Please. I didn't even do anything. WHAT IS HAPPENING? I have to take my kids to school tomorrow. Please. I didn't do anything. I didn't touch my son. I didn't touch my son. I didn't do anything. I didn't do anything. Take a seat inside the car. >> I didn't do anything. [laughter] >> I just cooked dinner. [laughter] >> She's going to take the son inside, but I think mom thinks she can calm her down. >> Okay. >> I just cooked dinner. [crying and screaming] What is happening? What is happening? [laughter] >> I need you to break. I didn't do anything. >> So, what's going to happen? >> Oh my god. I didn't do anything. >> So, you need to calm down. >> MOM, I DIDN'T TALK TO HIM. >> OKAY. OKAY. >> I'VE BEEN ON THE PHONE WITH YOU. WHY IS [screaming] THIS HAPPENING? >> You need to calm [music] down. >> Why the >> I need you to calm down RIGHT NOW. >> I CAN'T. >> I CAN'T. WHY IS THIS >> JACKIE? If you [music] don't calm down, I'm not going to be they're not going to let me talk to you. So, you need to calm down or they're going to close this up and I can't talk to you. Okay. >> Okay. So, I need I know you know what do >> you need to just calm down. [clears throat] >> Okay. >> You need to break your [laughter] nose. >> I need you to calm down. Coming up, as the woman was transported to jail, she launched into her entire life story with her husband. Once again, painting herself as the eternal victim, convinced the world was against her. >> Sure, you don't want to go back to my house. I got some fried chicken and mashed potatoes sitting on the stove. Wasn't able to eat it myself, but you can go eat it. >> I appreciate the offer. >> Piece of that was supposed to be there, you know, 4 hours ago. Didn't show up. I don't even my kid. How is it the person that gets beat up the most is the one that's going to serve any sentence? How is that fair? How is that fair? >> There's one person with injuries that I saw tonight. >> I didn't touch my kid. What about the injuries that I've had for the last 16 years? To be perfectly frank, I don't see any injuries on you right now. And I I can't I I don't know what happened when you don't tell us. >> You've been to my house for the last 5 years. >> I haven't. It's the first time I've met you. >> And now I can just see him sitting back watching all the nasty TV he wants to watch because I'm not there. >> He tried to convince me not to take you to jail. >> Are you kidding me? >> No. >> Oh, he's the one that had this all set forth and going. He just got home today. He got home and I was on the phone with my mother the whole time. I was trying to ignore him. And because I was ignoring him, I knew this was going to happen. I was just trying to avoid a [ __ ] I can't 18 years of my life. This man, he's 7 years older than me. He got together with me when I was 16 years old, promising me the world. Yeah, let's start a business together where I have to borrow money from my grandparents every month to pay our employees. Beat the out of me. So, I have no friends. I don't even speak to any of my friends anymore. Me and my grandma, she just took me to Ireland and Scotland and London this last couple months. We went for two weeks and I had planned this. It was a year plan. My grandma's bucket list because my grandpa doesn't want to travel anywhere with with her. So, she paid my whole trip. I was so excited to go and the whole time I went, all I got was that I'm a and cheating and I'm sleeping with anybody that will talk to me while I was down there because he couldn't afford to go with us. I was so tired of everything that he said and made. >> After what felt like an endless ride filled with the suspect's non-stop incoherent rambling, the officers finally arrived at the jail. Go >> ahead and step out. My hands are like really numb. >> We're going to get you out. Just stand face the car for me. >> Really help me to my nose. >> Yeah. Can I help you? Just be nice to them. Don't talk to them like you've been talking to me and my partner. Be be cooperative and be chill. >> I am trying to talk to you anyway. I'm sorry if I have. I >> I understand your I understand your my This is just me telling you they they don't they don't put up with anything. They'll just put you in a holder if if you talk to them the way you've been talking to me. This is just a heads up, okay? Just need just be calm with them and they'll help you out through the whole process. >> I'm 33 years old. >> I know >> I have a 14year-old son and I'm very confused about what's happening right now. >> Okay. I've tried to explain it to you multiple times. Okay. >> Yes, sir. My husband just came home for the first time today. >> I know, but the the the problem here is is you hit your son with a lamp. >> No, I didn't. >> Okay. All the evidence tells otherwise. And I appreciate that you're telling me that you didn't. >> I did not touch my son with a lamp. >> I'm telling you, I did not do that. I am not that crazy kind of person. I'm not like that. Are you kidding me? My whole life is my kids. That's all I have. That's Oh my god. I have to take my kids to school in the morning. Like that's all I care about. He said this. I have not touched him. He got my grandparents involved who I was also on the phone with today. I was just talking to him. That's who I'm playing with. >> What do you What do you think Connor told you? >> Connor likes whoever's going to let him play his game. Period. Why don't you ask Connor who beat the out of me and him both together beat the out of us curbuling us as I was trying to protect it. Why don't you ask Connor that? Why don't you ask Connor who he has to protect most of the time when we're hiding from him in Shayla's room? Why don't you ask Connor who we're hiding from most of the time? >> You got to bring it down. >> I can't. I didn't do anything. >> Oh my god. >> The woman was charged with domestic battery.
