real please stop coming to you when officers step into the unknown danger can strike in an instant and unfortunately not everyone makes it home alive is Houston Police let's do this give me cover give me cover here are the moments that body cam captured officer's last moment alive starting with the case where what started as an ordinary interaction turned into a sudden and tragic gunfight somebody said they're going to hurt my family they wanted me to hurt kids and I can't do it so I got to do this whoa w w w ho ho on November 17th 2022 around 5:00 p.m. Ross County Sheriff's deputy Sergeant Eric Cochran was ambushed outside the law enforcement complex in chilo Ohio Nicholas Mitchell 42 had approached the back door claimed his family had been threatened and said he had been pressured to harm children hi hey buddy um you help me out something real quick can get a couple more officers what's going on um somebody said they're going to hurt my family they wanted me to hurt kids and I can't do it okay so I got to do this whoa whoa who who put that down put it down put it down put it down buddy put it Sergeant cokan was hit in the chest and returned fire fatally wounding the suspect soon other officers came to the scene believe what your best you're okay I one at this point more officers arrived and EMS was on the way as well that now we got stay there okay I got you you see what he look like look at me look at me open your eyes open your eyes my sque my talk to me where's he head ater I'm going to look okay at this point the suspect was uncontactable and unconscious he later passed away at the hospital as for the sergeant he was taking deep breaths while waiting for medical [Applause] help one more time there you go a boy I got I got the left pocket the P get Jack I got it I got it I got it I got it I got it let's get him a helicopter he's got I I got pressure to to the wind here on the left side okay you want to maintain that while we get sergeant kocheran had sustained serious injuries including damage to his lung heart and liver but had since been recovering he was out of the ICU walking with assistance and engaging with visitors the local community had rallied in support hosting fundraisers to Aid his recovery moving on to a case where officers had no idea the danger that awaited them as they knocked on a suspect's door Dion It's Houston Police let's do this F on September 20th 2021 officers were dispatched to a neighborhood for an arrest warrant for Dion leet but nothing could have prepared them for how the situation unfolded [Music] Houston police come the door something just hit the door yep good morning hey we have a warrant for ma'am where's Dion is he awake Dion step out here when the door opened a woman stood in the doorway but soon Dion leet appeared with a loaded firearm can you see him go where is heing Dion you need Steph pis Houston Police is he behind the door Dion there's a door she looked back there towards the back so Dion so you some police you need to step out here [Music] Dion It's Houston Police let's do this you good you good no I'm here on give me cover give me cover [Music] at this point senior Officer William Bill Jeffrey and Sergeant Michael Vance were both struck the suspect was fatally hit in the exchange he's down he's down but I can't see him [Music] Bill some officers worked on ensuring that the suspect was down while others focused on protecting and tending to their injured Brothers you're good s where you at s where you right where where's [Music] sh godam bill was struck multiple times including once in the chest and later succumbed to his injuries Bill had served nearly 31 years with HPD most recently in the major offenders division which handles high-risk criminals his wife Suzanne a retired HPD officer described him as one of the very best the couple had one child and were building their dream home during the same incident Sergeant Michael Vance was sh multiple times in the leg but remains in stable condition after surgery now to a case where a seemingly routine traffic stop turned into an allout ambush Target officers and an innocent bystander stand everybody on July 14th 2023 an ambush occurred while officers were responding to a routine traffic stop the gunman tragically took one officer's life and injured two others along with a bystander here's the footage showing how the incident unfolded [Music] coming up the suspect Muhammad Barakat opened fire C we got shots fired Central we got shots fired Central we got a man with an AK-47 he's shooting at us we're at [Music] Central shots fired shots fired we got three officers down three officers down send everybody officer Zack Robinson approached stop moving stop moving put your hands up only one he's the only one investigators later discovered multiple Firearms 1, 800 rounds of ammunition a homemade grenade and internet searches related to mass incidents in barakat's possession he had previously been interviewed by police regarding his Firearms but had obtained them legally barot a Syrian National who arrived in in the US on asylum in 2012 and became a citizen in 2019 had reportedly been planning the attack for years the wounded officers and the bystander have since been released from the hospital moving on to a case where an officer was ambushed by the very suspect he had been [Music] tracking guys I got December 2nd 2023 Houston police officers were investigating a case near Harwin Drive when they spotted a 23-year-old suspect moments later they lost sight of him this is the footage of how the incident unfolded as the officers made contact with the suspect when they saw him again the suspect ambushed and fired multiple shots into his vehicle hitting the sergeant several times despite his injuries the sergeant got out and fired back guys I got shot guys I got shot come over here I got shot P me a tourniquet put me a tourniquet tourniquet me up he ran arm I got I got right I shot him hean meanwhile while some officers applied tourniquet to the injured Sergeant others proceeded to look after the suspect who had tried to flee the scene however it didn't take long for them to find him go get him go get him I got you I got you you're good s is he hit hey stop stop stop down behind the business all right let me see your hands okay I got you hey let me see your hands let me see your hands the two uh mother two uh bu we got him hold on hold on hold on no we're north of harwi Northwest M we're behind the stop moving strip center that's over where's mik I know Mike where you [Music] at somebody else put some gloves on so we can do another all right you got enough chest compressions brother show them where the wounds are hey uh Mario start doing chest compressions bro he's got one in his bottom abdomen where a bullet sticking out bro you're getting ready to chest compression after you got another set of cloes left app it bro come here hold these light give him light he's got he's got G he got GSW on the bottom of his and he's got one in his chest right under his sternum we have to cut the rest of his cles off you got yeah there some there's some chear right there in the here you got yeah yeah get some out of his start start cutting his pants off we know he's got shot in the chest right under sternum and he got shot in the stomach took off through the alley know way went went Sor look for the Mike there's some shears right there in my me bag uh front pocket front pocket here you go I got your light dude your hands hey just keep eyes on it we're going to keep everything right here keys are in the vehicle he want me to go yeah I'm going hey we he we got to start securing this thing all right hey youor let's start knock everybody just step out calling now y see him do anything that's fine oh [ __ ] you're the suspect was pronounced deceased at the scene the sergeant was rushed to the hospital and recovered extreme and unpredictable situations are common when officers come under attack and this case is no different a routine call that suddenly escalated into a life or death struggle please stop can I i' shot 1078 on the evening of January 8th 2023 Reno police officers responded to a report of a suspicious circumstance on the 1500 Block of SC Sky Valley Drive shortly after arriving at the scene an officer was hit by gunfire sorry two males they're running away with several firearm real please stop can I I that shot 78 two suspects both down they're still shooting and expedite remza please at this point one officer was hit coming up his fellow officers rushed to his aid while the confrontation continued don't [ __ ] move I can't just just hold him hold I'm going need to turn on my leg if you got one okay watch behind me I don't have one I don't have one watch watch behind me watch behind me let me know you got a gun I do okay yes we're the we're tell we're by the um playground by the playground I'm being told by the playground what do we need right there above the knee above the knee please thanks sir hey hey ma'am can you watch this way for me please the the bad one is upstairs at this point officers approached one of the suspects to get him detained just stop moving do not [ __ ] move your hands where we can see him take that guy long take that guy long yeah I got hands I got hands roll to your stomach your stomach roll to your stomach your stomach come on dude I'm here rifle got it hey what the did you guys do one down here him roll him to the side keep Roll On Your Side stay in the entrance to the apartment at this point the other suspect was also tracked down okay guys do me a favor can you clear out of our line of fire please go move to the side move to the side please okay ready hey cover me move okay wrap them up [Music] is there anyone else out standing two so far we're got we're good here the that building the furthest stairwell top left is the bad one got in his pocket cover top top of the stairwell left side number that's where they came from there's a female in there I don't know who else one of the suspects was pronounced deceased at the scene the second suspect was wounded and trans transported to a local hospital where medical staff monitored his condition the injured officer remained in critical but stable condition leaving his colleagues in the community anxiously awaiting updates on his recovery
