Honey, >> this suspect, Cindy, was charged with felony battery on a law enforcement officer, felony resisting with violence, and assault on a law enforcement officer. [music] She pleaded no contest to the battery on law enforcement charge and not guilty to the resisting with violence charge. The assault and resisting with violence charges were dismissed, while the battery on law enforcement charge resulted in adjudication withheld, meaning the judge accepted her plea, but did not formally convict her. [music] She was sentenced to two years of probation and ordered to take an anger management class, write a letter of apology, participate in 50 hours of community service, and to pay court costs. Always remember, self-preservation makes people do some really strange things, and sometimes it starts only seconds into the stop. Did you see how fast somebody can go from, "I don't know what you're talking about," to fighting officers over something that could have been handled with a conversation. People think officers are reacting to the original violation. But many times the real problem becomes the behavior after the stop. The refusal, the ego, and the panic, and the need to avoid responsibility at all costs. I used to see this all the time. People turning a warning level situation into handcuffs because they couldn't emotionally accept being wrong in the moment. And honestly, that's the collision people don't think about enough. Human emotion versus lawful authority almost never ends well when pride takes
