A three-year-old girl lay barely alive, unclear if she would survive in a bed bug nest. >> Fairmore Police Department. >> Oh my god. >> Holy [ __ ] She's breathing. She's still breathing. >> Let's go. Let's go. >> Jesus Christ. >> Six other children lived surrounded by urine and dead rats. >> Why is the baby? >> That's the worst house I ever walked into that had people living in. >> And I was the only one doing anything. >> These stories began with a 911 call and ended with handcuffs. We lost our first daughter because she had issues. More truth. >> You're currently under arrest. >> But the irony is the only thing that wasn't handcuffed in that house was the irresponsibility. Let's begin with Ravia, 26 years old, the biological mother of a 3-year-old girl suffering from severe malnutrition, barely surviving in an apartment filled with bed bugs, trash, and flies. >> [ __ ] poor kid. >> January 8th, 2024. In Fairborn, Ohio, a panicked 911 call from a mother claiming her child was in critical condition. Things got worse when she gave a false name, stalling the investigation from the start. Thankfully, the child's father showed up, bringing a truth no one saw coming. >> So, how did you come to find yourself over here? >> She called me and was freaking out, telling me that my daughter was malnourished and that she was sorry and she had to go. >> Where would she go? >> I have no idea. Her mom lives in Yellow Springs um in the uh the um apartments over there by the horse track. Is my daughter okay? >> Well, she's in route to Children's Hospital right now. Do you have an ID on your partner? >> Okay. >> What is your daughter's name? Check it out. >> Where would she be going? >> I have no idea. >> She has no family around here. So, like I said, her mom lives in Yellow Springs, and I don't know where her sister lives anymore. I know that she's been talking to a lot of people online. >> Can I get a picture of this eventually? Okay, I'll just give it back to you for now. So, I don't have >> You got a number? I can send it to you. >> Just a screenshot. >> Yeah. >> Okay. Yeah. I use my work phone. >> Yeah. She's been talking to a lot of guys online. She's been >> Yeah. doing on destiny all night. Didn't think this was going to happen. >> When's the last time you saw your daughter? >> It's been a while. She um had kept telling me that she didn't want me around her because she had had issues with me when she was a child. And because of that, she was uncomfortable with us being in the same room, gave me reasons to why she was asleep every time I came over. >> Okay. And when you saw her and when you saw her 2 or 3 weeks ago, her she was in good health or she was okay. And now the reveal. After her father's death, she spiraled, quit her job, left home, and dumped her child to flirt with men online. Tragically, they had already lost their first child to the same reckless lifestyle. >> So, does she have drug problems or what's going on? >> She smokes pot, but I don't think that's the cause of it. About I want to say 6 months ago, we split up because her father died and she went completely off rails after that. She stopped cleaning. she stopped taking care of everything. It led to many arguments. She had asked me to quit my job 2 years prior. And uh I listened because she was making like $1,000 a week. And uh so I told her, you know, because I knew she was struggling, get me clothes. I will go get a job. I will take care of everything. She said, "No, I want you to stay here." And it kept turning into fights until I caught her cheating or on me with some people online. And uh she's just been in this in this spiral. She hasn't cleaned up the room. the last time I uh but she doesn't clean her own room. I think the only reason she cleaned that room is because I told her that I would seriously hurt her if I found my daughter in any kind of condition because we lost our first daughter because she had issues. That was the reason we were allowed to keep this one. And uh you lost your first daughter like she they had to put her up for adoption or >> Yeah. CPS took occur because I had taken her to my uncle's and an old friend of mine that I looked at like a brother had his gun on him and he was uh exmilitary. So I had assumed, you know, everything was fine. I didn't know he had it on him at the time. He pulled it out to clean it. I wasn't paying attention and he shot himself in the knee. Okay. >> Guess there was a bullet wedged in where he was trying to dislodge and the handle cocked forward and snapped a bullet in his knee. And because of that along with uh they had said that she had marks on her back which I had assumed was some flowing in her stroller that uh they needed to take custody. Okay. Would would you humor me? I know she said that her phone's going on airplane mode but can you text her back and say hey I'm talking to the police like you need to come back here or something to that effect. Thank you. Okay. >> Then police entered. In front of them was a scene no one wanted to believe. A severely malnourished baby lying in trash struggling for life. But luckily she's breathing. >> Fairmore Police Department. >> Fairmore Police Department. Fairmore Police. >> Which one is it? Left >> the older lady. Uh they always come in here and check. >> Nobody's answering. >> All right, let's go. >> Fairorn Police. more police department >> 305. >> Sir, good. >> When my calls the number back, a older male answered her phone that he has no idea who Area is and no one uses his phone. However, >> 911. >> God damn. Fairboard Police. She was on Wallace. >> I'll go. >> She called. According to the jail here. >> Holy [ __ ] She's breathing. She's still breathing. >> Let's go. Let's go. [Music] >> She's still breathing. >> Right here. Yeah, she's still breathing. I'll get out of your way. Sorry. >> Yeah. >> It didn't look like it. >> I'd say just pick up and let's go. >> Yeah. >> What are these bugs here? >> Oh my god. >> You haven't even got that far. >> Uh, let's get pictures started. We called you. >> Now, let's tour the place she called home. Even the cops couldn't help but curse at the disgusting mess inside police. If you're here, they can still go. >> Hey, can you and one of your guys respond down here? We found this kid barely alive. Medics are rushing uh the kid to the hospital. Yep. Yep. We're finishing up trying to clear this place, but you're definitely going to want to be down here. All right. Thanks. Bye. Yeah, I think Zach ripped that one off the end. So, >> you go ahead. >> Jeez. More, please. 295. Can you see what history we have at this address, please? Jesus Christ. Poor kid. [Music] Sorry, let me get out of your way. All right, we did secondaries. That's [ __ ] terrible. >> Yeah, it's bad stuff. They began investigating to track down the mother. But in that filthy pile of trash, was there any clue left behind? >> So the person called, not here, and then they called back. It was a guy. Did you guys hear that part of it? >> Yeah, I was I once I saw the kid, I zoomed out. >> So the lady who called obviously isn't here. They called the number back. A guy answered and said he has no idea who >> good. We have the Arabia Jasmine listed as of September 8th. >> Yeah, let's do that. >> Susan Win, >> Ronnie Day Jr. and I don't know. Yeah, go ahead and start getting pictures. I'm going to go up here and not No, I'm sorry. See if I got anything. >> Thank you. >> Let me go get my big light for you. >> Of course, I forgot that it's still charging. >> I got one. I think maybe in my bag. lady upstairs came out and said it was a mouse on the ground. Okay. >> Luna and uh Luna and Cory is who she's known to live here, but she said she never seen it. >> You straight ripped that door. >> Uh I was just trying to Yeah, I don't know. >> Like holy Toledo disturbing me. >> I don't blame you. Disgusting. I'm going to go get with Johnny and them. >> A three-year-old girl weighing just 16 lbs is living proof of the brutal consequences of parent. And not just her, any child raised in filth faces risks of malnutrition, infection, skin disease, parasites, even food poisoning from poor hygiene. So, obviously you heard the call. We show up here. Mhm. >> The door is kind of a jar. I'm like, "Uh, they said there's a kid in there. Nobody's answering. Let's go in." We go in, find the kid, maybe two, three, emaciated, covered in bites. We thought she or he we was dead on the floor, but was barely breathing. >> Medic scooped her up, ran to the hospital. Okay, >> this is what we have. here. >> That's what we're working on. Sopher's going down to the apartment complex right now. They said radia or something like that. >> Like a pretty foreign >> Yeah. This is her apartment >> supposedly. That's what we're trying to determine the call >> again. Yes. But it sounds like a male came back on the line the second time or something like that. I Ronnie Day Jr. Nothing with radio in there. So that's what they're trying to determine is who belongs here and who called us. But we got pictures and obviously I called out code enforcement. So, but yeah, if you guys want to I don't know if you want to look through there. I might have booties if you want them. >> I guess so. >> And it was the back back bedroom there with the pink. >> The one with the one with the door ripped off. >> You were live. >> Yes. Yes. Yeah. >> So, >> I'm going to I'm going to grab some booty booties. >> Huh? I don't know if you heard the any. Basically, we showed up here because somebody said they found a 2 or threeyear-old breathing hard hard to breathe. So, we go up, doors open, nobody's answering. We go in, found probably three-year-old in the back, completely emaciated, covered in bug bites. We thought she was dead, but she was barely breathing. So, medics came in, scooped her up, but cat known man in there, bugs everywhere. for search. >> Zinc and I did. >> Um, >> so this will be one of those ones that we're just going to take his body cam. >> Yeah, absolutely. Yeah, we were both live, but we don't know. So, we'll go in and get absolutely obvious and have it on the door. We'll go up and contact the office, let them know in just let us know if you need us if you don't want anybody in here or want your investigation going if you want us to have them all. >> Got nothing. >> Okay. >> Thanks to the seamless coordination between the police and the father, Ravio was arrested despite her earlier creative exit, sending a sorry text, switching to airplane mode, and vanishing. Unfortunately for her, justice doesn't lose signal, and this time she might not get the chance to switch to any mode again. >> At around 10:00 a.m., my ex- fiance called me to tell me my child in her care was bleeding and unconscious. Longer saying she was leaving and she was sorry. I left from my uncle's house to rush over after telling her to calm down, only to receive a message saying she was putting her phone in airplane mode and running off and that she was sorry and to get my things from the apartment. I arrived at the police outside her door only to find that she was gone and my child was taken to the hospital. >> I appreciate that, man. >> Well, right now we're trying to figure out a whole bunch of things, right? A whole bunch of details. >> You want to fix it? My back is killed. Um, >> what' you what do you want >> to sit down? >> Yeah, we're going to have you can have a seat in the back of my car. >> Are you guys taking me? >> What's that? >> Are you guys taking me? >> Uh, yeah, we are. Okay. >> Okay. >> Stuff to him then, please. >> I I'll take care of that. Let's uh let's walk in the front of my car. All right. Okay. Just right here is good. Um, if you want to face my car, you don't have Just put your hands out to your sides. >> Nothing Nothing on your uh on your pockets at all. No pockets. You have >> just underwear underneath your sweats. >> Not underwear. Just >> just your sweats. Okay. Oh, perfect. Go ahead and put your palms together behind your back. >> 322. >> Tell me how tell me how to say your name. >> Robia. Robia. My name is Ryan. I'm a detective. Uh, and I am the detective that's going to be handling this case. >> I can I I can. It's going to be a little bit. So, right now, um, you're going to be taken to the Fairborn Police Department. There's some administrative things that we have to do there. took a picture and some some fingerprints, but I'm going to be down to talk to you uh soon. Okay. All right. >> So, I I can't I can't give you an answer like that only because I don't know. All right. Very good. Again, I will be down to talk to you uh in just a little while. All right. Okay. >> These aren't too tight, are they? Okay. Let's go around to the pastor side here. Have a seat. What's this fell's name back here? Travis, can you please tell him that that stuff right there needs to go to my kid's dad? The one that was over here earlier. >> Just Just hang out right there, man. I'll be right with you. >> Yeah. >> Hey, just give me a second. >> All right. >> Is there any way you could cuff me in the front? I have spinal problems and this really hurts. >> Yeah. Yeah, I can do that. Just uh can you turn can you turn? >> Uh let's see here. Yeah. Hang on a second. There we go. All right. Just uh just like that. We'll try to uh >> Yeah. >> Ravia, 26, was with multiple serious offenses, felony assault, children, and child. On July 23rd, 2024, after pleading guilty in court, she was sentenced to 9 years in prison without bail and began serving her sentence immediately. Hopefully, those 9 years won't just punish her, but awaken her. Because children don't choose their parents, an adult negligence always crushes childhood in silence. Just as Ravia's case was beginning to settle, another nightmare surfaced. This time in a house in Ohio where six more children were left in a filthy hell. >> How did it get that bad? How did the mess the animals? >> On December 21st, 2023, a 911 call brought the Summit County Police Department to the home of the six kids. And what greeted them wasn't laughter, but the stench of death. Piles of trash, rotting food, urine, animal feces, and shards scattered across the floor. They quickly stepped in and rescued the children from that hell. One with no clean place to sleep, no air to breathe, and no sense of parental responsibility. What's that? >> No, you're good. >> Come on. >> I can't come inside. So, you need to bring the kids to the dog. >> Guys, come here. >> I need you to get their coats. Get their dressed in their coats. >> Baby, put that dog up first so he doesn't run outside. Dear, >> come. I need your smell in the sand. Come. You need to come this way. Come on, buddy. Zip off your coat. Come on. You have to go to the hospital. I have to take all of y'all to the hospital. >> Just got to get you guys checked out. Make sure everybody's okay. >> Um, I should, but they told me that the warden say it's not safe for us to go inside cuz my supervisor got sick yesterday. >> Oh, yeah. I mean, I'm I'm going to have to go in to see the animals. So, I can get >> Heck, these are the paperwork. Court is tomorrow. Come on, Lou. I need you to come and help get the children in the car. Kim, where's the baby? I need the baby to be >> She's in the bedroom. >> I need you to get a a winter suit thing on on her. >> You don't have a mask or anything, do you? >> I do. I'll get you one. >> Thank you. I'm going to get >> Yep. >> Thank you. >> I'm so sorry. >> Where's the other Where's your other child at, dear? >> This is him. >> Okay. This is it. He's >> I only have six children. >> Only six. All right. Yep. >> You guys are doing this while their dad's not here again. >> Okay. Come on out, buddy. Sister bottle, please. >> And I'll take >> So, I got to um >> Hey, do you uh do you still need me over here, dear? >> Uh no, I mean, you're all right. She's fine. >> Okay, I'm all right. >> All right, I'm going to head out then. >> A month after the rescue, police returned to the house. This time with evidence, arrest warrants, and handcuffs. Yeah, she's in here. Police. Come to the front door. >> How you doing, dear? Hi. >> What's your name? >> Kimberly. >> Kimberly, is your husband home? Michael? >> No, he is at work still. Okay, Kimberly, go ahead and step out for me. Okay. You're currently under arrest. >> I do. >> Don't stick your hand in the You have a warrant out for your arrest. >> For what? >> For child. Put your hands together. >> So, Michael's not in the house. >> No. >> Okay. You don't care if we check the house. Make sure Michael's not in there. >> You can point. My mother-in-law is here. >> That's fine. We'll call her out beforehand. >> Mhm. Hey, 16. You can come to the front door. >> Hey, ma'am. What is your mother? >> She's in the back bedroom. >> Okay. >> Put you in a car over here real quick, dear. We'll get you some shoes. >> Stop preaching. What is in your pocket? my vape. I was going to put it down, but >> you have anything illegal on you I'm going to find in this search. >> No, I haven't done anything illegal in a while. >> You have anything in your pockets? >> No. >> Take a seat back here. >> Where does Michael work at? >> He works at >> Where? Drive. >> Drive. >> Okay. All right, J. >> I'll be right back with you. >> Now it's the father's turn. Oh. He worked all day, too busy to notice his kids were living in a nest of bacteria. But when the police called to inform him of the charges, his first reaction was, "What? For what? >> Perfect on the phone with him right now." >> She got a Hello back. Stop. >> Yes, sir. >> Hey, where are you at, sir? >> Double check. a child. >> Okay. And you're coming back home? >> Yes, sir. >> Uh I'm going to be honest with you, sir. We have a warrant for you and your wife's ars. Yes. For childing. So it will behoove you very much to cooperate. >> Okay. >> Okay. Are you going to come back over here to Silvin? That way you can leave the car here. >> Yeah. I'm going to get picked up. >> Picked up from where? >> Uh drive. >> Drive. >> Yeah. >> Okay. What's the address on the drive? Um how long will it be till you get there? >> 25 half hour. 25 minutes to half hour. >> What's his phone number? >> What's your phone number, sir? All right. Thank you, sir. We will probably have an officer meet you there to transport you to Summit County Jail. We appreciate your cooperation. >> Can I ask you a quick question real quick? >> Absolutely, sir. What's going on? >> Why do we have a warrant for our arrest? >> Uh for six counts of child injury. >> Okay. We've been going through the CSB case for about since the beginning of January about the end of December, >> right? Well, the children's services case is completely separate from the criminal investigation. >> Huh? >> I said the children's services case is completely separate from the criminal investigation. You want to grab her a pair of shoes. You don't have >> Yeah. >> You license? >> Yes. >> Okay. >> Actually, I'll grab the pair of shoes. Just remember that's me. >> You haven't gone. Just let him grab the pair. >> I guess I'll see you guys at the shop. Let me call my boss. Let him know what's going on. >> Thank you, sir. >> What's your name? Kaitlyn. >> Uh, Kimberly. Where's a Where's a pair of shoes for her, dear? >> She's going to be uh going to the jail, unfortunately. >> Yeah, it's still bad. >> Nope, that's not >> walked in there. >> Yeah, I know. It's still bad. >> The roaches didn't hide. >> Yeah, >> it ain't that big of a deal. She'll be out tomorrow. >> Yeah, she'll be a rain. She'll have her day in court, dear. >> No reason to get all worked up. She'll be out tomorrow. >> Oh, God. Seeping seeping out in the air. >> Yes, ma'am. >> You're a stronger man than I. But don't worry, the mother had her script ready. The piles of filth and disgusting scenes were brushed off with one shameless line. I'm the only one who cleans. She even claimed it was reasonable for all six kids to be taken away. Clearly, she never intended to clean or to give those children a decent place to live. [Music] All right, dear. Here, let me turn this light on. That light doesn't work. So, >> all right, dear. What I'm going to do is your rights. All right. Cuz right now, you are under arrest before I can talk to you. Having these rights in mind, you're willing to talk to me about why you're under arrest tonight? >> You know why I'm under arrest? >> It's a six count of childing. I was actually the original officer that responded out here with children services when they were removed from the home. Do you remember me now? >> Yeah. >> Okay. I mean, do you understand why the children were removed from the home in the first place? >> Yes. >> I mean, how did how did how did it get that bad? How did the mess, the animals I mean, I'm going to be honest with you. That's the worst house that that day that was the worst house I ever walked into. It's a little cleaner now. That's the worst house I ever walked into that had people living in. How did How does it get like that? >> And I was the only one doing anything. >> Okay. She didn't have any help. Okay. >> He works too much, so I didn't have any help. >> Do you at any point like look around the house and go, "This is a problem. These living conditions are not okay." >> Yeah. We finally got the basement fixed. >> Yeah. Well, I'm talking I mean, the kids being removed, I know that was a wakeup call. Can we both agree that was kind of a wakeup call? But before that, did you ever look around and go, "Something here has to change. My children shouldn't live in this kind of filth right now." Why didn't you change it, dear? I'm still trying. >> I mean, be honest with me here, and this is just Do you when the children were removed from the home, do you think that was the right choice? >> Yes. >> You don't think that the living conditions were suitable and you just I mean, you would you say you were kind of at a loss of what to do with everything? >> Yeah. >> You're saying Mike wasn't helping you out? No, he works too much. >> Works too much. I got you. >> He's still working, >> right? Is that Is that your mom or is that his mom in there? >> That's his mom. >> Does she help out at all with the kids or anything? >> She watches the kids every now and then. >> Mhm. >> But she's up in her 60s. >> I gotcha. All right, dear. Well, yeah. So, I mean, that's why you're being arrested. This the state of that home that the children were in, it rises to the level of criminality. The kids shouldn't have to suffer. There's going to be a uh prisoner wagon that's going to come. They're going to take you to county. They'll book you in. You'll be arraigned tomorrow. That's where they'll set bail and everything like that. Um >> supposed to see the kids tomorrow. >> This is all stuff that they can work with you and everything like that. That's what CSB is there for. All right, dear. >> Both parents faced six counts of child under Ohio law. They could each face up to 8 years in prison along with fines ranging from $10,000 to $15,000. No matter what, once you have children, excuses are no longer an option. Responsibility is. If life is hard, get to work. If you've done wrong, make it right. If you failed before, show remorse. Don't let your mistakes keep falling on children who can't protect themselves. We have just witnessed painful slices of irresponsibility. Where childhoods are and futures are stolen. From Ravia to six innocent children, each story is a wake-up call. Being a parent is not just a title, but a vow of love. protection and responsibility. Those innocent eyes cannot defend themselves. We, the adults, are their last line of defense. Let's spread this message so no child has to grow up in a hell created by adults. And don't forget to like, subscribe, and turn on notifications to continue accompanying us on the journey for a safe childhood for every child. See you tomorrow. [Music]
