Well, it'll be the body of two people I murdered tonight. >> Sure did. What the hell? >> Yeah, heard [music] somebody. She pregnant. >> Some police officers begin their shifts like any other day. But what happens when they make discoveries that forever change the way they see their job? >> A woman's head. The head. Woman's head. Got a black eye and everything. And it smells like real head or >> Oh, yeah. No, it's real. >> These were the moments when good officers made traumatizing discoveries on duty. We begin with the case of officers responding after a hospital reported that a woman showing signs of having recently given birth had arrived without a baby. What they uncovered next would turn a medical call into a disturbing criminal investigation. >> Oh no. >> Yeah. They was born here and then they went up there. >> Exactly. >> On February 7th, 2026, officers in Los Cruus, New Mexico, received a report from a hospital that a woman had arrived in the emergency room showing clear signs of recently giving birth, but without a baby. The hospital immediately called the police and what officers uncovered next was shocking. Can't imagine there being everywhere in there. >> No. >> Oh, dude. >> Yeah. Hey, dude. We uh have confirmed baby in the porta potty. So, just hold everything you have out there. No, no, no. Just trying to get get time frames. um see how they got there by vehicle or and we need to hold that car. So, I'll let you know. I'll call you right now. All right. >> Can you uh that dude on a bike? Can you go try and find him? >> Yeah. >> Okay. Or if he cuz that he transported it to you. What direction was the man on the bike? >> Uh, he was going towards the bathrooms, like the main bathrooms on a bicycle with a a flashing front light. >> Okay. Right. >> All right. Thank you. >> Did you see the white truck parked in the corner as well? We're not sure if it's occupied. >> Um, yeah, we did. But I through the shadows, it looks like that guy's on a bike kind of by the front gate. Unless that's somebody else. There's a guy on a bike leaving from this direction. He's just going to check out them and see if he saw anybody out here or anything like that. >> Still at the hospital, 38-year-old Sonia Crystal Himenez refused to provide basic details about what had happened. However, when her boyfriend shared the couple's suspected address, officers were led to the area where the newborn had been found. The condition in which the baby was discovered made it clear this was far more than a pregnancy related incident. It pointed to something much darker. We got a call from MMC about a female who gave birth at uh Burn Lake with a baby in a portaotti. We have found the baby in the portaotti and she's giving birth to the placenta right now. Yep. So MMC called. They had a walk-in uh fe female with a umbilical cord hanging out. The female said that she gave birth to a baby in a portaotti at Burn Lake. Um and she was passing the placenta. She's at MMC. So we came to Burn Lake and there's a baby in the portaott. Yes. It's like in the toilet in the water. So, we're at uh Burn Lake by the dog park. >> We have a couple units at uh MMC. >> She's there with her boyfriend, so they're holding everything there trying to figure out. Uh I'm not sure. I I don't even think that they've spoken to her at all. I think she's in the delivery room passing the placenta. >> Hey bud, can I talk to you real quick? >> What's going on? >> Um, can you uh can we come back over here so I can just get your information real fast? >> What? >> Uh, we have we just have we found something in a porta potty back there. So, we want to see if you saw anybody back there. >> No. >> What's that? >> Walmart. >> Okay. Hey, how long have you How long have you been back here at the park? >> I just barely They just saw me drive right in. >> Yeah. Yeah, we saw you coming out, but like I said, man, my stars wanted to ask to see if you saw anybody back there by the porta bodies. >> As the situation unfolded, officers realized they could no longer treat the case as an isolated incident, but as a possible crime, revealing disturbing details about the newborn's condition. >> So, how long were you here for? >> I've been here for 5 minutes. >> 5 minutes? >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> Barely in. >> What's that? >> I just barely rode in. Okay. >> They saw me driving. >> Yeah. No, you're not in trouble, dude. We're just trying to see if anybody was back there by the porta parties. Nobody was >> All right. The time that you were here, you didn't see anybody back there. >> All right. All right, man. Have a good one. Place. >> Okay. Just that one entrance, right? >> Yeah. Just at the gate there. Do you have a time lock? Uh, I think pizza, too. Just Yeah. If you want to just post up at the Do >> you want me to stay there? >> Yeah. >> So, I dude said that he was only here for 5 minutes and he didn't see anybody back here and he didn't want to do anything. >> Yeah. >> I saw him like on the other side of the dam looking out and he just kept trying. >> You want me to start on the crime scene? >> Yeah. Hey, do you in case I don't do you have a crime scene lock? >> I want to double check. No, the log. You know where we >> Oh, yeah. >> I don't know if it was a live bur. >> It had It's like in the actual torn it like where the the blue liquid is. >> Is it like full though? Like have you seen like it's not dug up under anything or just >> it's like just I just saw the head and then like the part. >> As officers continued gathering evidence, they learned another troubling detail. Sonia's boyfriend claimed he had no knowledge of the pregnancy. With more questions than answers, investigators went door to door speaking with nearby residents to determine whether anyone had witnessed suspicious activity in the days leading up to the discovery. like newborn. >> Yeah. >> I would say like >> they said like four to five, but I'm >> No, I look bigger than that. >> It looked like my baby months. >> No, it looked like it was like >> I need I have tape. Did you need it? >> I have tape, too. But I don't know if I want to set it up or not. >> Oh, wait. This isn't the tape. This is the actual evidence. >> Yeah, I have the evidence. >> Okay. >> I have a big deal over here. >> All right. Well, we'll be over there. >> All right, dude. What's going on, man? >> Nothing out there. >> It was just funny cuz we got a dog like this big. >> Uhhuh. >> And she never she never bark. She never bark. >> Right now she all a sudden, you know, I turn on the inside light and I was like, "What the >> Yeah. Well, I know I wasn't sure if you guys were in here or not, man." Yes, sir. >> Uh my name is Officer Officer Garcia. Okay. So, we're investigating something that happened over here at the Burton Lake um over here by the Porter Parties way back here. >> Uh how long have you guys been in your van here? Uh, it was it was starting to get dark, I think. There was another van that was parked here, too. >> Where was that van at? >> I don't know. >> Do you remember what it looked like? >> Just a blue van. >> And it was parked here by you guys or >> Mhm. >> Okay. How long ago was that? More or less? >> I don't know what time it was. >> Um, it is I just turned 11:00. >> I don't know. Honestly, I fell asleep. I was tired. I've been I've been working on this cuz they kind of broke down on us. It's running now. >> Okay. >> But uh I've been working on it for a little bit and uh I actually don't know how what time he did for a while. I know he's dark. >> Do you know who they are and the people that he's he's a friend. He's he's a good Christian guy. >> What's his name? >> Rudy. >> Rudy. >> Yeah, he's a good guy. >> Okay. >> At this point, witnesses began providing crucial details, revealing that the couple kept little contact with those around them. Several accounts also suggested that Sonia appeared to be struggling with emotional instability. >> Okay. And uh how long do you know Ruben's last name? >> No. >> How long have you known him for? More or less? >> Um about a year. Okay. >> And his girlfriend? You have no idea? Like >> No, he just he just met her. Like I said, >> do you know if she was pregnant? >> No. >> No, she didn't. >> Did you see her at all? Like >> she's a heavy set girl. >> She's a heavy set girl, but you couldn't tell if she was maybe pregnant. >> Yeah. Yeah, you could. >> You could tell she was? >> No, I said you couldn't. >> Oh, you couldn't tell cuz she was kind of heavy set. Okay. Um, so it's 11:00 right now. Uh, Mr. Gonzalez, when's when's the last time you saw Ruben and his girlfriend here in the with the back? >> No, it was late cuz it's already dark when it's here. >> It doesn't have to be like exact more or less like >> I can't you guys were you guys asleep right now? >> Yes. Okay. Um, >> so you kind of probably lost track of time. >> Yes, sir. That's why. Obviously, you know, I ain't going to say. >> What? What about like the last What time did you see him at? Like when he was there actually here? >> Well, we pulled up here. It was already getting dark. >> And they were here. >> Mhm. >> Well, it gets dark. It gets darker around what 5:30 6:00 now. >> So maybe because I know we sat down and and uh I was doing u some applications on on my phone. uh they say 30 35 minutes we were eating and then uh we kicked back you know so I would say >> about two hours >> two hours ago >> no I said before they left >> before they left >> kind of like I said I was doing some things on the phone >> do how long were you asleep for do you know more or less you guys just do you remember what time you like laid down and fell asleep >> like I said about couple >> hours it got Okay. >> I see you. >> Yeah. >> She's mentally a little bit. >> While securing the scene, officers carefully searched the surrounding area for anything that could explain what had happened. It wouldn't take long before they came across a crucial piece of evidence. >> Yeah, there's some there and a little bit out. Yeah, there you go. I had walked around. That's that's all I could find. This one right here. >> Yeah. Um, but they are in a van, so I don't know if it just pulled up here. Is that a >> brother? >> Cap of a needle. >> What? >> The top of a needle. >> No, I'm already here. I burn it. >> It's fitting for this place. Yeah. >> Hey, are you still at the van? >> Can you do me a favor, bro? Uh, C's needing a triple eye to the hospital for the mom. Um, can you pick up the triple eye and then Oh, okay. And uh and did they tell you about uh Kio's body cam? Yeah, detective. Uh, he's asking if somebody could pick up his body cam as well. >> She has the baby has hair and everything, too. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. It's a full >> Yeah. trip full term. >> Yeah. So, triple eye body cam hospital. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. There's a there's a trail of blood that comes in from there. >> Yeah. No. >> Sure. >> All right. I appreciate it. >> With the scene secured, investigators began examining the evidence and comparing what they had found with the statements gathered at the hospital. The more they uncovered, the more uncertain the timeline became. >> I'm not a nurse, but looks fully developed to me. I mean, I don't know. It is on its side, bro. No, it's on his side. um on the baby's on the on the side. So you can't see none of the face, just like the side of the the right side. It's on the left side. So you see the right side with hair, black hair, and then the the arm and then the the right >> that got here 11:29 and sorry. >> Yeah, it was 1129. >> Okay. Who's 1129? >> Garcia. >> H >> Okay. And what did you guys find >> that? just uh checked the first porta body, nothing. Second porta body is >> okay. And then >> so you guys you got dispatched because of the call that went out at MNC. >> Correct. >> So that's all the information you had. So you responded out here just to check to see a welfare check to see if there is a >> port and a baby. So you arrived, you looked at the at the portable potties, you found on one of them. Yep. >> And that's when you guys found the baby. >> Correct. >> Okay. Sound good. >> Oh man. Does the baby look premature? That's what I was asking you. >> It looks like a develop baby. >> Okay. >> She I I don't know if you heard what they said out there something cuz a fiance says that supposedly I guess she she walks in or no they come in to the hospital. They needed help >> because uh she's got the umbilical cord hanging out like you told me umbelical cord hanging out. She says she didn't know she was pregnant. >> Boyfriend says he didn't know she was pregnant. They've been using and everything. So they didn't know that. Um, [clears throat] so what I want to know is, you know, that doesn't matter. It's the baby breathed when the baby came out, you know, because, you know, they cut that umbilical cord. They cut it. >> That's what I was saying. Like, was the baby cuz the I don't know. The passenger seat of the van has a bunch of >> Yeah, told me that. >> I guess to figure out if the baby was born in the van and thrown here or the baby was born here and then they went up there. >> Exactly. Uh I told Reynolds secure the van for uh you to get uh a record so we could take it down to 81. We'll do the search warrant there. Ray Lynn's on our way down there. You guys get OMI already? >> Yes. Call. Okay, let's get the baby out of there. You know what? Let's let's move the baby out. Um we're going to have to wait for the autopsy to see what was the cause of death on the baby. >> In the end, on February 11th, 2026, Sonia Christelle Jimenez was arrested and booked into the Dona Ana County Detention Center where she was held without bond. Less than 2 weeks later, a county grand jury indicted her on one count of intentional child violence, resulting in death, a first-degree felony under New Mexico law. If convicted, she faces life imprisonment with the possibility of parole only after serving at least 30 years, as well as a fine of up to $17,500. Up next, what began as a routine attempt to locate a wanted suspect would soon lead deputies into one of the most disturbing [music] investigations of their careers. >> You killed a couple people tonight. >> Somebody pregnant evidence. He doesn't have a gun, though, does he? I don't think so. >> On May 10th, 2019, deputies with the Eaton County Sheriff's Office in Michigan began searching for a suspect after a warrant was issued for his arrest on charges of absconding from parole. But before the night was over, they would find themselves caught in a far more disturbing case than they had expected when the search first began. >> 91, come up to the 54 and my Sherlock, we're going to do a felony stop on this guy. Yeah, we'll stand by for that third car. Uh should be coming up on the 53 right now. >> Hey, unrelated. Uh we found that guy, >> the parole guy. >> Hope is behind him right now on southbound 69. >> He strangled his wife the other day. He's got a paroleer warrant. Um >> he's stating he's going to kill himself if we have contact with him. all that. We haven't We haven't lit him up yet. We're trying to get cars down there. All right. I got Calhoun set up, too. Um I'm I'm at the 66. We're down at like the He's down at like the 55 or something like that. So, we're we're trying, but I knew you were awake and I just wanted to get a little bit of info from you. All right. >> Shwood. Looks like you've done a pull over. All unit. Clear. >> This is THE E COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE. SHUT YOUR VEHICLE OFF AND PUT YOUR KEYS OUT THE WINDOW. Put your hands up. Hands up. STEP OUT OF THE VEHICLE. FACE AWAY FROM ME. Walk backwards to the sound of my voice. Keep coming. Keep your hands up. Walk backwards to the sound of my voice. Keep your hands up. Keep coming. Keep coming. Keep coming. Keep coming. Stop right there. Drop to your knees. >> Anybody else? >> Hold on. Can I get one more guy over here with me? And >> you guys want to hold the car? >> With the suspect, 27-year-old Kieran Brown, finally in custody and cooperating with deputies. It seemed the situation was under control. But Kieran was about to reveal something so disturbing that even the deputies couldn't have anticipated what came next. >> Push hands back for me. Push hands off your back. You're under arrest right now for your warrants. You got a warrant out. >> What are they scander? >> I couldn't find one, dude. Sorry. >> I thought I had one. >> I know he's wanted, but I don't know what we're doing with him. >> He's got to go to Sparrow to get an email. We got a PR on. >> Okay. >> Um, we got to get that done first and then he's going to get lodged on a pole scanner warrant and egg stocking. But he's got the pearl. So >> maybe I should probably look on my phone on the camera. >> Got to be honest with you, dude. I don't care. >> Well, it'll be the bodies of the two people I'm tonight. >> Okay. >> Have you read him, Miranda? >> No, I have not. >> Yeah. The rates are silent. Couple people tonight. >> Where was that at? Look on my phone. >> Okay. Can you step over here for me, sir, please? I'm going to have you have a seat right in the back seat here. Okay. >> Yeah. Can you see in there? All right. Or no. >> Huh? >> Can you see in there? All right. >> No, but I'm good. >> All right. Where's his phone at? >> Emergency to check it. >> Yeah. He's saying he two people. >> Yeah. They also gave you consent. Two people. That's what he said. He said to look at his phone on the camera. Oh boy. Jesus. What? >> Sure did. What the hell? >> Yeah, he somebody she pregnant might have been for evidence. Is there another one or is it just >> All right, take him. Take him back to Charlotte. >> He said there's two, right? Yeah, I think it's because she's pregnant. >> As deputies continued questioning Kieran, they asked him to explain exactly what had happened. The details he provided would soon force officers to investigate claims they never expected to hear that night. >> Kieran, I don't I don't want to pronounce it incorrectly. You're a smart guy. I'm sure, right? Pretty intelligent. >> Yeah. >> Okay. Where are those people at, man? >> Can you let me out? I'll tell you. >> I'm sorry. What? I couldn't hear anybody with those. I tell you my back hurts. I can't get nowhere. >> Yeah. Go ahead and stand out here if that if that's Watch your step, man. Okay. You okay? >> Yeah. >> All right. Where they at? >> One of them is in uh the place I was just at. Nights lancing. >> Night in East Lancing. >> Room 215. She's in the bathtub. >> Okay. Night room 215 in East Lancing. >> Doorchester. 30. Younger than 30. >> Probably 30. >> About 30. And what about Julie? >> 30. >> 30. Okay. >> What? >> This video was just taken at 2:27. >> Was it 3? So, an hour ago. >> Where is he? >> He's up in Delta, probably somewhere. >> He's probably going to have to go back to the pool bar as evidence. >> He doesn't have, does he? >> I don't think so. the car the car at all. >> Don't touch the car though. Like don't touch anything. >> I was already in it for a second. >> Well, I know. But now, >> now we don't want to touch anything with that. >> At this point, deputies realized they were no longer dealing with a routine traffic stop. The suspect's statements immediately changed the course of the investigation. While some officers rushed to verify the locations he had provided, others escorted Kieran Brown to the station for questioning. >> I'm detective Kame County. This is Texas Sergeant Bark Crane from Meridian Township. >> Where are you from? Do you live local here somewhere? >> Yeah. You want to talk with [snorts] us about your Dr. Night? >> Sure. Okay. Um, tell us what happened. What? Yesterday. >> Yesterday. >> Starting with yesterday. You want to know >> who is this girl that that lives here in Delta? Who's your wife, girlfriend? >> Christina. >> Christina. [clears throat] >> Who is she? Wife, girlfriend. >> Girlfriend. >> Girlfriend? >> No. >> So, how long were you there for? >> Maybe an hour when you were there. It was just I would think I would have done scarier. You didn't have any intentions of her? >> No. >> You didn't want to scare her? >> Yeah. I love her. >> I actually didn't go to Christina's apartment, but I was there outside. >> You were in the parking lot at Christina's apartment. >> I was going to give her money. Thought I was then decided it wasn't a good idea. >> What were you going to give her money for? just for I had like 1,500 so cuz I know that I know that how the scenario plays out. >> Mhm. >> So there's no reason >> I wasn't going to need it. >> Yeah. >> You texted up. >> Yeah. >> Which is why I'm in the cuffs now and know she called the police. I was kind of mad because like I don't know what charges I have against me, but she said I hurt her and her son Nick. >> Within hours, investigators confirmed that the victims were 32-year-old Julie Mooney and 26-year-old K. Brock. As detectives looked deeper into the case, they discovered that Kieran had personal relationships with both women, leaving investigators searching for what could have led to the attacks. >> Did I hurt her? >> Did I even hurt the dog? Of course, I never heard her son. What led you to to Kayle's apartment yesterday? >> I just went over there. >> Okay. She let you in. >> Mhm. >> Okay. And then what happened when you got inside? >> I said we just talked. >> We just talked. >> Mhm. >> Submit myself to get mentally evaluated. She was trying to help me. >> Julia was trying to help you? >> Yeah. >> Okay. Why are you trying to submit yourself to get mentally evaluated? You having a hard time with something? You got PTSD from something or? >> Yeah, as you can tell, I got a lot wrong with me, but I guess it was too late. >> It means you're too late. What do you mean by this damage is done? I like Julie. She was trying to help me. You know, it's like I don't get it. I don't understand myself. It's like I talk to myself like I I'll sit there and just be like just had a full-fledged deep conversation with her for a whole half hour and I'm like nothing to do that. [clears throat] It's not all right. But I did it anyways just cuz some it's just like something inside me, you know, it's just it's I'm not saying that like voices, but yeah, it's a voice in my head, but it's not like a Tell me how you kill him with the hammer with the hammer like ball. You it up and you arrested me. >> Okay. And there was no argument or altercation or anything? No. Just kind of snapped. >> Or was that what you thought you were going to do when you went there? >> No. No. No. It was a case and it just happened. >> At this point, the suspect remained reluctant to explain the motive behind the crimes. Kieran appeared emotionally unstable, leaving detectives struggling to understand what had driven his actions. >> Julie first. Kaye >> Kaye [clears throat] and then he drove to the hotel room. >> Mhm. >> And then what led to you Julie? >> Nothing but just Did she take her clothes off? No, I took her off. You took them off? What you did at that point? I'm not real sure. >> Where's the knife? >> What knife? Did you use a knife at all? >> Yeah. >> What'd you do with the knife? Off >> her head. >> Did you put her in the bathtub? Take her from the >> Yeah, I dragged her >> into the bathroom. >> Yeah. >> Okay. I understand you took some pictures of it. >> Mhm. >> Videos, too. Is it okay with you if I look at these pictures that are on your phone? >> Yeah, look, >> it's my coworker chilling. >> Victim number two. >> I even carved my initials on her back like the first victim. >> What was with all of the lines that you carved on them with the knives? >> Why did you do that? I don't know like why I did it at the time. Mhm. >> By keeping the suspect comfortable, detectives gradually began obtaining more details about what had happened. Kieran's account revealed a series of deeply disturbing events periods, I guess. >> Did you just surprise them with a hammer? Were they facing you or were they facing away? >> It was like one blow and that was it. >> How many times did you each one of them with a hammer? >> I don't know. Kaye won and it Um, it was kind of weird cuz it got stuck in her head, but they both did the same stuff. It's just that rattle, you know. What do you mean by rattle? All I heard is called the death rattle. Just like this gurgling stuff sound. Not sure what it is. And then they started to move. And I didn't know if they're going to yell or what they were going to do. So I don't know 20 30 times in the head. >> Mhm. And then I cut Kayle's throat. It's a lot of work. >> What do I do by hand? >> It's not easy, you know? It's not like I'm using a gun. >> Mhm. There's a lot involved in that. It's personal. >> Did you take anything from Kaye or from Julie? >> I did actually. >> I took her hair clip. >> Took just that one ear clip from each of them. >> Mhm. >> You know why you took those? >> It's like weird. >> As the interrogation continued, investigators uncovered Kieran's history, revealing previous incidents involving violent thoughts and threats toward others. The discoveries suggested that the warning signs had existed for years. >> Is there anybody else that you've talked to or heard or thought about hurting? >> Mhm. >> I know. I remember something when I was 18 living with my sisters in Illinois. I one night that I just took a knife and I tried to hunt people down. I was 18. It didn't work out. >> Why didn't it work out? I couldn't find a person in the race settings. I wasn't this determined they ass girl at my work. What's her name? >> Ellie. >> Ellie or Ellie? Ellie. E L Y. I think I would have killed her differently cuz she's the girl that I always wanted to have with, you know, when I'm smoking hot girls. Mhm. They probably would have been keep going with her. She tries to help me too, but she struggles with a lot of demons as well. Is that your plan to keep going or was it the plan for just these two? >> No, it was to keep going. >> Is there a list of people you wanted to? >> No, not particularly. I just tried to get at least four. Why was four the number? >> I don't know. Guess it was just a goal. Is there any more victims out there that we don't know about yet? >> No. >> Is there going to be any more? Of >> course. Who was the fourth other than Ellie? Jenny. Who? This girl in my class because she wrestles with a lot of demons as well. What her demons? Boyfriends. She's been cleaning. She still suffers PTSD same as me as well as me and Julie and Ellie. >> As the interview continued, detectives learned that two more women may have also been targeted by Kieran. Unsure whether they were safe, officers immediately rushed to locate them while the interrogation continued. Fortunately, both women were found unharmed. >> So, what would you guys call me? Sarah, >> I just think you need some help, bro. >> Yeah, I do. >> That's what I think. It was kind of too late, you know. >> It's never too late for help. >> I don't think they have hospitals anymore. I think you just go to prison. >> You're obviously you're obviously fighting some demons, man. You have been for a long time. It sounds like that make you feel better when you did that? >> No, it didn't make me feel better. >> Okay. Make you feel worse? Thank you. >> I'm going to go get one of the guys that can help us get you back here and get you some rest. >> Think you'll be able to sleep after this? >> Yeah. >> Yeah. I really wish I could go back, but I can't. So, I can only move forward from here. And I hope the families can heal and breathe properly. >> I wish we could do it for an eye. I wish he could have the death penalty under the most excruciating pain he has ever met, ever had in his life. [music] You leave our family and friends with unescribable grief. You left our daughter mutilated. I didn't get to kiss her on the cheek to say goodbye at a funeral. May you feel the pain from what you have done [music] and what will be done with you and to you. >> You took two individuals who all they wanted to do is provide help to you. You embody hate and selfishness and cruelty. >> In the end, Kieran Brown was charged with guilty but mentally ill seconddegree murder charges, 70 to 100 years in prison, plus previous 25 to 60ear sentence. Up next, what was supposed to be a night of celebration would soon turn into a disappearance that [music] left investigators searching for answers. >> And she said she was going to go to the restroom. I was like, and she never came back. >> She's reported a lot of times cuz when she ended the relationship, he got very violent. >> Do you think you hear a dead Pokemon? >> That's a body. On March 4th, 2025, officers from Washington responded to a 911 call from a family reporting their relative missing after she disappeared during her birthday celebration at a local casino. What initially appeared to be a routine missing person investigation would soon raise questions about what had truly happened that night. >> M. Dispatch, can I help you? >> Hi. Yes, I needed to report u a missing person. >> Okay. The a child adult >> um an adult. So, my sister has a protection order against someone and her work called today. She never misses work. So, they're really worried cuz um she didn't show up and she had been having some problems with him lately. My mom's at her house. Her car is there, but they don't open the door. >> We know you're in there. Open the door. >> Not you. >> He's the one that gave me the key. >> Who is he? >> The male down there. >> Who is he? >> Maintenance. Still can't go in there. >> What? >> Still can't go in there. Are you here? >> Uh, my sister. >> I had yelling. >> Huh? >> I had yelling. Okay. Manager said there's >> thermal disturbance. >> But you didn't hear any yelling or anyone. We don't know what's going on. >> Mom's the one that called, I guess. Said there was a DD. >> Well, we don't we don't know if anyone's in there, >> right? >> Um, we have family here saying our car is here. There's a possible order violation. Is there any orders with this girl? >> I don't know. Do you know if she uses or anything like that? >> Okay. When's Can you guys try calling her? >> The phone is off. >> I've been calling her, but her phone is off. >> And when's the last time you talked to her? >> Last night. >> Okay. And you mentioned some man that she has an order with or had an order with. What's his name? No signs of any foul play or anything like that. Um, but she's not there. He's I mean she's reported it a lot of times cuz when she ended the relationship he got very violent. So she went through Debbie to put the protection order >> and he's just been coming around calling her and non-stop. >> Okay. >> Um what was his boyfriend's name again? >> Johnny. >> Johnny. >> Johnny. >> The concern surrounding Yanera Sidios's disappearance was far from ordinary. Investigators learned that she had recently gone through a difficult breakup with Juan Gastelum, making him one of the people they needed to understand better. As they began retracing Yianiraa's final moments after her birthday celebration, their attention turned to her close friend Anna, whose account would provide new details about what happened that night. >> You found her? >> No, >> I have been trying to call her. I've been trying to leech her. I don't know where she's at. She's left me. She left me at papers at the bar. >> Uh, it's just nothing. She left. She said she was going to the bathroom. She >> I think she's with her ex-boyfriend. >> What's your name? Is that Juan? >> Yes. Um, Johnny. >> Johnny or Juan? Well, his legal name is Swan, I think. But they call the Eagles and she was texting him. Um, >> so I'm 100% sure she's >> He lives in He came with me. >> Where does he stay at? >> Uh, I'm not sure. >> Do you know if she had her phone? >> She did have her phone. Yeah, cuz she was talking to him on the phone when she left and she was like, "Hey, I'll be back. I'm going to go to the restroom." And so I sat there. I wasn't going to leave without her. and she never came back. >> Okay. >> And so I went outside to look for her. >> Have you heard from her? >> Mm- Me and her friend called her. Uh her coworker called her. She didn't show up till her phone. >> What time were you guys at this last night? >> We got there around 9:30. >> And when was the last time you saw her? >> I saw her. So she was there with me the whole night until that one moment. and she was talking on the phone with him and then and she said she was going to go to the restroom. It was like never >> and she never came back. >> If you had to guess what time that was, I mean I'm sure it was early but your best guess >> I think it I'm going to say it was like 11 11:30 >> and I I talked to him on the phone too and I told him to stop calling her because she >> on her phone or >> on hers um because she he just kept blowing up her phone and I told her not to leave. >> At this point, officers turned their attention to the casino where Yianiraa had celebrated her birthday. While reviewing what happened that night, one employee shared information that would give investigators a new perspective on the case. >> Hey, Michelle. Hey, I just got to let you know you're on a recorded line. Okay. >> Yeah, no problem. >> Okay. Michelle, where do you work? >> I work at Papa's um casino. >> And last night you were working. Is that correct? >> Yes, sir. >> Explain to me. Do you guys kind of switch around games there or are you just at one table? Are you just at one table for the time being? >> We move every 20 minutes. Do you remember seeing a girl in all gray? Like a gray tracksuit, gray sweatsuit? >> A girl in an all gray? >> Yeah. Sounded like she was a little bit uh intoxicated and maybe needed some help getting out of there. >> Like a smaller mesh. Um >> Yep. Yep. >> Yeah. With dark longer dark hair, I think. >> Yep. That's the one. >> Yes. >> I remember her. I do remember her. Yes, because actually um every so often we get a break and I was on break outside on that patio >> area and I do remember her and a friend [music] um walking out. >> Okay. >> Towards the parking lot. >> What time were you on your break? >> So maybe roughly I don't know somewhere between 10 and 12. I don't around that time. >> So they walk out, you're on the patio and then what happens from there? >> I can't remember. One of them is helping the other walk. >> Okay. And then when the one couldn't walk, the one the other one stopped and was like, "I'll give you a piggyback." Right. That's what really caught my attention. >> Uhhuh. >> Cuz I thought that was cute, I guess. I don't know. A nice friend. >> Yeah, definitely. >> And then they were headed towards the parking lot. One of them was telling the other one that they absolutely could not drive and the other one was, you can tell she wasn't happy about that. Oh, >> I can from I now at this point I could not see anything. Like I said, I'm sitting down. >> I guess which way did they walk in the parking lot? So is as you're walking out the bar, were they like towards left like towards the bowling alley entrance or were they talking >> straight ahead towards the towards the coffee? >> The employees statement gave investigators a different perspective on Yianiraa's final hours, revealing details that had not previously come to light. However, as officers examined the casino footage, they would soon discover that some crucial moments from that night remained unclear. >> And then what happened after that? You said you heard someone get in a car and then what happened after that? >> I don't know what happened after that cuz after that I had to go back in cuz our brakes are only 15 minutes, >> right? >> So I don't know at what point in time they came out on my brakes. >> Did you see any phones with them? Did they have any phones at all? >> I have no idea. I couldn't tell you. I couldn't even like I saw the back of them. >> Mhm. >> And by the time I kind of noticed they were already at the end of that like um you know end of the little ramp. >> Uhhuh. So I didn't get like a I you know by the time I noticed noticed him I was a good like you know 10 15 feet away [music] from them >> because he's done a whole bunch of stuff to her. >> Can you elaborate? So I understand there's domestic I just want >> she's called she's called the cops multiple times. I told her >> she changed her number just barely a week ago and she doesn't to avoid him and she said that he found her number. >> I don't know how. >> What kind of stuff would she tell you that he does? Um he would push her. He would um hold her really strong. He would um >> Does he ever threaten her before with words? Like that he's going to do something to her? >> Not that I've heard of, but that she said I think so. >> But I haven't heard. >> Do you know of any Has he ever or tried to strangle her or anything like that? >> Not that I've seen and not that she's told me either. He made it to my dark side. He was telling me um a night before last night that he he hit him with the uh glass on his head. >> Oh, he did. Yeah, he did tell me that too. >> He told me that >> glass bottle or >> like a like a cup and he like >> shoulder and grandson. >> He's eight. Investigators continued analyzing Anna's account, particularly the details surrounding Juan's possible whereabouts that day. With Yianiraa's final known moments still unclear, officers worked to reconstruct the timeline of what happened before she vanished. >> Do you know if he was in town last night? Did she tell you that? >> Oh, I know he was in town. >> Okay. He was in town >> because I talked to him. When I talked to him, he told me um cuz I was like, "Hey, stop calling her. She's with me. You know, it's her birthday. We're trying to celebrate. Don't come." >> How drunk was she last night when she left? >> Not much, to be honest. >> Maybe. Yeah, just tipsy. But >> just still still cognitive. >> Yeah, she knew what she was doing because I she told me. She's like, "Hey, I'll be back. I'm going to go to the restroom." And I was like, "Okay." After that, I went to the restroom. I was like, "She's taking a while." And so, I went to the restroom. I went outside. Couldn't find her. >> I I feel like someone was walking across the street from the gas station at that same time. >> Okay. Does it look like >> I remember who that is. And I think like you can tell they were looking in that direction. >> Uhhuh. So, I just have to remember who that was, right? >> No. Did it look like they were part of that group or or or uh >> No, they were they definitely weren't part of that group. They just I if if um like from where they were at and how they were just looking, they might have more detail because they were able to probably see more than I did. >> Okay. >> So, I just can't remember. I don't know if I think it was a one of the players. Do >> you know him? He's supposed to live here somewhere in the trailer park. Do you recognize this guy? Do you know this person? No. >> No. >> As the investigation continued, officers still had few answers about Juan's whereabouts. However, a new phone call would soon lead them to another location in hopes of uncovering more information. >> Because Spokane Police Department. >> Okay. They called me. They said that uh they're looking for How do you say her name, Ernie? >> Yira. >> Yira. Okay. Do you have any idea where she's at? >> Not at all, man. That's why I was trying to call to figure out. I just barely found out that she's missing. >> Okay. You did You weren't up there at all. I went up there, but um the thing is she was crying because she got in a fight with her friend >> Hannah or whatever >> and she was hysterical saying that >> she wanted to drive and her friend was saying no because they're all up. >> Okay. >> And then they got into it and her friend told her >> or whatever to her >> just said you ain't a friend and all that and she was crying. She was hysterical and I was trying to like get her to go home. >> Uhhuh. >> She didn't want to. She said she wanted to go see Anna because she said that nobody was there for her. She's all by herself and that how could she do that. She was just hysterical crying. So I tried to get her to go home. She didn't want to. And then she said that uh uh she was end up going back to Papa where the they were drinking and stuff. And then some guy was calling her during that on Snapchat. And then she said that she was just going to go back over there, you know. you know, and I've been trying to contact her all morning, messages, calling, and nothing was I thought she had me blocked. So, I was like, "All right." Cuz she told me to leave her alone and she didn't want nothing to do with me cuz she said I'm like, "We're done and all that stuff." >> So, it So, if people are saying that she left with you, >> she didn't live with me >> and that you went and got her, that would be all that's not true. >> No, no. I'm saying like I went to go look for her, but I didn't. She didn't go home with me. She She was She was >> As investigators pieced together Yianiraa's final moments, new details surfaced about the argument that night. But security footage would soon challenge what was believed to have happened afterward. >> This your car? >> Yes, my car. >> Okay. And uh would would you be willing to let us walk through, make sure she's not in the house? >> Yeah, she's not in there yet. >> I I'm just asking if you'd let us look. >> Right now, we got it's a missing person investigation. We're just trying to double check. >> Yeah. >> Are you okay with that? I mean, I just want >> Okay, go ahead. >> Go through whatever you want to go through. >> Um, she was crying. She was hysterical. >> All right. >> Uh, she was she was really upset about her friend Anna cuz she said that no. >> Did she go with you anywhere? >> Well, I took her back to her house, but she didn't want to go back to her house. >> Yeah. >> And then she ended up saying that she was going to get cuz she had her keys and she said she was going to drive to Papa. I said, "Just go inside." >> When she was going to go inside, that's the last time I saw her. And >> will open the trunk for me? >> Yep. I'm worried cuz that's my that's my ex and I I still care but I still love her dude and [ __ ] >> she was like said dude she would call me crying she was hysterical uh because like I said she wanted to drive she said she she told me that she was sober enough to drive her friend's car and her friend said no we're alled up and I don't know what altercation they got into where Anna ended up calling her you or something like that then she told me she said well you you ain't a friend and she left her that's what she told me that Anna left her when I contacted Anna today she said that she never left her. She went back to Bob, but Yeran saw her drive off or whatever the that's what she was telling me and she was drunk as hell, dude. >> Okay. >> And then after that, um, like I said, I was I was trying to get her to go home and I told her, "Go inside." She goes, "I have my keys that [ __ ] I'm going to go tell her what's up." Like she wanted to go fight her and I told her, "No, just go home, >> okay?" >> Like, you know, if you want, I'll [ __ ] leave. She goes, "You caning leave, too. I don't care." I was like, "Babe." I was like, "Come on, just [ __ ] go home. Go to sleep. You're drunk." I just found out. That's what I'm saying. Like I that's why I called so I can you know but I'm saying you guys can go through anything. I don't >> know. Yeah. I don't know man. >> With no signs of Yianiraa found inside the residence, officers left the scene. Yet Juan's statement still lacked consistency, leading investigators to contact him once again. A conversation that would reveal his own contradiction. >> Yesterday when I talked to Yira, she had got in a fight with Hannah. And so that's why I was trying to contact Anna. And all morning I've been trying to contact and calling her and stuff and messaging her. And I I thought she had me blocked, so I was like, "Fine, then I'll just leave it alone eventually, you know." And uh I was just trying to, you know, see her for her birthday and stuff like that. But, you know, she didn't want nothing to do with me anymore. So, I just, you know, I kept I just I thought this morning she was just literally just had me blocked off everything. So, I just let her, you know, she told me to if I could get her. I said, "Yes, of course." You know, so I went to go see her and then she was just going off about and she was crying like, "Dude, she was freaking crying." She She said that cuz uh Anna betrayed her. What kind of aer friend is that? That she left her, that she would never do that. She She said that cuz uh Anna betrayed her. What kind of a friend is that? Said, "You never spent 80 bucks on Anna's birthday when it was her birthday, but Anna only spent $40 on her birthday." She said that, "What kind of a friend is that?" She goes, "I always go out of my way from people that I love and my friends and everything, and nobody gives a about me, this and that." So, I told her, "Let me take you home. Let me drop you off." And so, she's she was just going off the whole time. And then she was hugging me. She told me that she she's glad that I came that she you know that she had been wanting to see me and then I told her yeah um you know like I'm just worried about you. I've been trying to contact her not to try to see so I can see you know it's like at least hang out with you and stuff like that and Adam wouldn't let me and Adam probably thought I was fighting with her when I was on the phone when I kept trying to blow her up cuz every time I call would hang up on me. >> Whereabouts were you and whereabouts were you and Yianiro when you were talking to her? >> Oh we were on our way back to her house. Well, >> I was going to drop her off your house. >> No, I get that. But you you said you met up with her over by Walmart. Where were you guys at? >> Oh, she was by I'm saying like not like she was behind the Do you know the pet uh is it Petco or PetSmart? That's right there. >> Petco's over there. Yes. >> Yeah. Yeah, she's on Petco. So, she told me that she was walking behind Ross. So, I'm like, "Okay." So, I'm driving over there and then she she told me like we're kind of like where the Walmart parking lot's at. Petco and all that behind Ross. >> At this point, investigators began noticing inconsistencies in Juan's account of that night. But the conversation would take an unexpected turn when Juan brought up the possibility that Yanira had been seeing someone else. >> She told me that Anna had left her, that she had left her without anything. And then I think that's the time when some guy was calling her on Snapchat uh to see where she was at and she hung up on him and um >> Do you know who that Do you know who that guy was? >> I don't know. I don't know, sir. >> Did Yer call or answer that phone call? >> She's on Snapchat. Yeah, >> she did. What was >> Yeah. Yeah, that's what I'm saying. She did. And then she hung up on him. >> They didn't say anything else. No, he just said, "Are you with Anna?" And then she says, "No." And then she hung up on him. >> What did you say during that phone call? >> Oh, I said, "Uh, hey, who's that?" to Anna to Yianira. Because I at first I thought it was some guy calling her like that, but then she told me that it was a mechanic dude, but he the guy just all he said was, "Hey, are you with Anna?" or something like that. That's what he said. >> What else did you say? >> But I didn't trip. >> What else did you say? >> No, no, no. I literally was more focused on her crying cuz she was crying about the whole Anna thing. like after that after she said it was the mechanic guy that helped her fix her car that you know and she had told me about him before cuz she said I was Anna's uh friend you know I was like okay but literally I wasn't even worried about that at all dude I was just worried about her cuz she was crying like I'm told like I wasn't going to interfere with fighting with her while she was [ __ ] crying like you know what I mean I'm telling you when she was hysterical she was crying mostly about the whole Anna thing cuz like like on the way to her house she was crying saying how can Anna do that to me I was just listening man like I didn't I wasn't even or anything I was listening to the whole time. >> With another name now connected to the investigation, officers began looking into Javier's possible connection to Yianiraa. After locating him, investigators started a new line of questioning that could provide more answers. >> Hey, I'm like, "Where you guys at?" She's like, "Oh, well, can you come pick me up?" I went, me and my friend [music] Larry, uh, we went to go see if we couldn't find her. So, when I was at Walmart, uh, I was like, "Hey, where you at?" She's like, "Oh, I'm fine. Like, someone already picked me up." And I was like, "Oh, okay." And then in the background, uh, there was another guy's voice. He was like, "Who the is that?" And like, "What the did I tell you about talking to people?" And then they hang out. I was like, "Okay, that's that's weird." >> And then what happened after that? >> I ended up leaving. >> Why didn't Why didn't you spend the night if she she wanted it sound like she wanted you to stay there? She was also getting mad at me because of bringing up everything about like the like our past, you know, and then she was saying that I could leave just like everybody else, you know, like this. She wasn't fighting with me. She was just arguing with me and I was going to stay the night, but she told me she had to work and then she had to pick up her kids and I ended up leaving because of that. But she told me she had to work. >> Days after speaking with Juan, investigators continued searching for more concrete evidence that could help clarify the case. when new information from surveillance footage at Yianiraa's building would provide a crucial detail about Juan's movements before her disappearance. >> She thought I was out of town um because I was telling her that I was out of town, but I was just trying to like get her jealous by making it seem like I was on vacation and stuff, but then I was just like um I was just telling, "Hey, look, I I flew out to come see you just, you know, I was already going to surprise her. I was just waiting to well I was going to let her do her thing first, you know, cuz she told me she wasn't about drinking and then she kept telling me I can't believe you came to see me, you know, like stuff like she was she was pretty happy and once at her apartment and she started crying again. We were kissing. She was crying. She was hugging me and told me she she was glad I was there but then she was still sad about the whole and just going off on Anna saying like she like stuff like that, you know, like just talking major crap about Anna. Well, let's jump back to drove her back to the apartment. You're in the apartment. You said you guys did have >> go from there. What happened after that? >> Um, that's when we were laying down and then she was we were talking about our relationship, everything we've been through, but she was still pretty drunk. So, she was talking about that she wants to go get her card, her she kept talking about her debit card cuz she left at Papa. So, I was like, "Well, let's go get it then." So, I was like, "Okay, well, let's go. We'll get it." So, I remember I went to the the bathroom and I was getting dressed, but then she goes, I don't know where she switched up. She goes, "No, I'm going to go. I'm going to go get it." She goes, "I don't need you to come with me." And I was like, "Why?" Told me, "Uh, no, because you don't care about me." This and that. I was like, "Whoa, whoa, whoa. Where did this come from?" Like, I was we just literally were just laying down being good. And she was telling me that, uh, going back to the Anna thing, talked about how Anna, she tried to call me and she showed me the call log where Anna called her. And then she goes that because I want her to bake to me this and that. And I remember I was trying to calm her down and I hugged her and she was hugging me but she was still going off about Anna and then I bought her debit card too that she wanted to go back. >> When questioned about his presence at Yianiraa's apartment, Juan explained that the two had been involved in an argument over jealousy. But during the conversation, investigators noticed something unusual in the way he spoke about Yianiraa. He began referring to her in the past tense. >> Oh, that's another thing I want to tell you. She goes, "I think she was, I missed my period because you're supposed to get at the beginning of the beginning of the month." And I was like, "Maybe you late. You've always been like that. Your period's always been weird." And then she goes, "No." She goes, "I could be pregnant." And she goes, "What would you do if I was pregnant?" I was like, "Well, then you know what would you want to do?" I was like, and she goes, "I don't want it if you'd be in my life." I was like, "Cuz we would talk about trying to have a baby." Like, she wouldn't even say that, too. Like, she would want one. And then we'd be come to her conclusion. We're like, "No, we don't want one." And then we just back and forth with it. >> She if she was pregnant, would it be yours or would there be any >> No, >> reason it' be someone else's. >> Nah, like I said, I mean, if she was doing stuff behind her back then, but most of the time we're always on the phone calls talking for like hours. So, I doubt, you know, but maybe, you know, but I don't think she was that cold like that. She was she was a good person. Like, I wouldn't even say like something like that, you know. Every time when I go to Hermston, I just take the freeway all the way to my sister's literally just go straight to my sister's. I always like I don't know, man. Maybe she That's what I was thinking. I don't have no idea. I thought maybe she walked to Anna's house. >> Uh but then obviously if Anna hasn't seen her like I don't know. I was thinking different [music] possibilities like scenarios, but I don't know. every one of them could be a stretch cuz I'm just saying like dude what the like she's not the type if she was there at the house then she [music] wouldn't go nowhere and I and the only >> or she post something right or she >> yeah yeah and she'll get a hold of me by now like she would have messaged [snorts] me already >> that's what the family say >> cuz she's like I said she always comes back and message me like you know she like even if she's pissed off the next day she was oh I'm sorry whatever you know and I still haven't like that's what I'm saying I haven't got nothing I didn't try to message her earlier nothing >> do you think you need >> hope I hope not. I don't think that at all, but I was worried about that. >> Initially, surveillance footage from the establishment showed another person alongside Yianiraa and Anna Martin Escobed, a friend of the two women. His account would provide investigators with new details about the night that was supposed to be a celebration. >> Then they started drinking again, drinking freaking mix, drinks, [music] everything. At the around midnight, we decided to go. Anna wanted to drive and I got up, you know, I was like, "Hey, you can't drive. Let me take I'll take you home, whatever. I could drive. They started arguing. So I I freaking saw the Janita runaway like ran. That's the last time I I remember seeing her. >> Do you know her ex? >> I don't know. I know his name is Johnny, but from uh from Anna. That's all I know of that. I don't even know his last name. Martin and and Yita and u and Anna, they're like, "Hey, come to papa's." I was like, "I can't, you know, I'm working." And they're like, "Oh, okay. That's fine." Martin and Alex. I think that's the other guy's name. >> Okay. >> Her friend or boyfriend. I don't know who who >> who's whose boyfriend? >> I think Yanita's. >> Yeah. Or or I don't know if they were boyfriend. And then I called them. I was like, "Hey." I'm like, "Where you guys at?" She's like, "Oh, well, can you come pick me up?" So, when I was at Walmart, well, by Walmart, uh, I was like, "Hey, where you at?" She's like, "Oh, I'm fine." Like, someone already picked me up. Hey, um, I'm fine. like don't don't worry about it. He's like you are you are you talking to him like oh rude and I was like I'm not going to lie >> that when she gets >> super drunk she answers she talks to him. >> Yeah. >> You know. >> Yeah. >> The one who was really interested uh was Martin. As you can see he has a hard time talking to girls. So >> they're they're the only ones that >> but I see him as a friend because you know I'm obviously married. >> Okay. of that. >> Yeah. >> As investigators returned to Anna's statement, she began sharing more details about the issues between Yianiraa and Juan. What she described would expose concerns about their relationship that those closest to Yianiraa never wanted to believe. >> She kind of sounded a bit frantic. >> You think she >> I think more like trying to explain [music] trying to explain why she was at Papa's or why she was with me. She told me that he had mentioned a couple of times, actually a lot of times, that he didn't like me, that he doesn't like us hanging out. That he even thought at one point that me and her had like a full relationship as in like that I liked her and she liked me because he said that um I was putting things into her head, telling her um just telling her things. I mean, of course, she was my friend and I saw everything he did, so I told him. >> Maybe I would would want a lawyer. >> You want a lawyer? >> Maybe. Yeah. >> Okay. >> You know, because I feel kind of like a setup right now. >> All right. >> Oh, that's a body. >> That's a body. >> That's a body. >> Stop. Yeah, that looks like a That looks like a body to me. >> That's a female. >> That's her fingernail. >> Yeah, it's her fingernail. In the end, Juan Gastelum was charged with seconddegree murder with sexual motivation with a possibility of his sentenced to life [music] in prison. Next up, what appeared to be a simple welfare check on an abandoned truck in a supermarket parking lot would lead officers to a horrifying discovery. >> It's a head. You got a woman's head. >> That wasn't sure this. >> She got a black eye and it smells like real. >> How bad was she? >> There is. How bad was she? What the hell? >> [snorts] >> He died again. >> On the morning of October 28th, 2020, officers responded to a Walmart parking lot after a shaken man reported a disturbing discovery. [music] He had just finished shopping and returned to his truck when he noticed a double wrapped trash bag tossed into the backseat of find that would soon turn a routine call into a nightmare no officer could have anticipated. >> I just got a little bit of grocery there in the back seat. >> I came out. I saw that bag in the back. I thought it was just somebody putting trash in my truck, which has happened before. >> But as he began to unwrap it, he quickly realized this wasn't just ordinary trash. Inside the first bag was a second one containing what looked like clothes soaked in blood. Horrified, [music] he stepped back and immediately called 911. >> So I opened that outside bag and I saw there was another bag inside of it with what looked like some clothes and some on it. >> And so that's when I walked away and called 911. >> Okay. Um, come on. What? It's >> a head. [music] Now you got a woman's head. >> All right, let's make sure. Let's go ahead and let's go ahead and uh let's get her over there. Mark. >> Okay. He needs out. Look. >> Huh? >> Okay. >> Both of us. She was She just got it. >> Real head or >> Oh, yeah. No, it's real. >> Make sure it's on her wings or a woman. No, it goes over the woman's head. Realizing a crime might have been committed, the police carefully started opening the bags. They had no idea what they would find. And what was inside turned out to be more shocking than they could ever imagine. A woman's decapitated head. >> I don't think so. >> No. I I sure. I was like, >> she got a black eye. >> Then it smells like real. >> After confirming that the bag contained a human head, police quickly cordoned off the Walmart parking lot as an active crime scene. As the full investigation got underway, officers discovered their first potential clue, a puzzling piece of paper tucked inside a cart near the truck. >> Hold up. Hold off on that one. >> See what I say there? >> After double-checking to be sure, the horrifying discovery was confirmed. The case raised more questions than answers, and the man who found the bag was brought into the police station for questioning. >> You're free to get up and leave anytime you want to. Okay? I want you to understand that. We just want you to help us um so that we can try to piece together what happened. >> Okay. >> Um so where all have you been today? >> Today? Yes, sir. Just to Walmart. >> Okay. So, you left from your house and went to Walmart and then tell me what happened when you got to Walmart. >> I got there around [music] noon or so. Had a short grocery list. Just a couple of things. Milk, flour, eggs. >> Mhm. >> Wife's doing some baking. Came back out to the truck. I noticed something in the back and looked a little weird. So, opened it up. I saw what it looked like and I backed away and called 911. Okay. You didn't see what was in the bag? >> No. Okay. There. Well, I saw there was another bag and it looked like there was some red liquid all over it and maybe some socks or something. Okay. >> And that was all I saw. [music] Shaken, he repeated the same story. He had stepped inside for a quick errand and returned to find the bag, unaware of what or who was inside. >> If needed, I don't even know that we need to yet. Um, but would you the consent form that we walked through earlier about your vehicle? Would you also do that for your house as well? Yeah, >> just to just to kind of cross our, you know, tea, do our eyes types. And I don't even know that we need to do that yet, but just in case we do, >> um, would you be okay with that? That'd be fine. >> Because somebody in my life's on to someone else help us, you know. Still in shock, the man agreed to let police search his house at a later date. Now he was finally free to leave, but his truck was impounded as evidence. Investigators were trying to collect evidence, hoping to catch any suspect. Meanwhile, 300 m away in Deerfield, Missouri, another horrifying discovery was unfolding. 63-year-old Connie Goodwin had been found in her bathtub, lifeless and decapitated. Detectives quickly realized the two cases might be connected, and they turned their attention to Conniey's husband, John Goodwin, to follow up on the missing person's report he had filed for his son, Aaron Goodwin, just the night before. Your son is Aaron Enoch Goodwin. Is that correct? >> That's correct. >> Okay. And you're John Goodwin? >> Yes, sir. >> Okay. Just act like you're starting from the very beginning with me and tell me what's going on with your son and and and all that. >> He uh he's I think yeah, I'm not sure. He's not been right. And he thinks God wanting to go on a walkabout and uh trying to help him. and he and he I brought him down here and rented that place for three days. He was going to go on his walkabout. So I went in and rented it. Came back out. He's going through his gear and I'm just standing there talking to him and he goes, "Well, yeah, I'll be up in a minute." Okay. Went up to the room probably a span of an hour or so and I go, "Something's not right. You know, he'd been up here by now. And when I'm down, he's gone. His gear's gone. >> This is last night. >> This was last night. Um I think we rolled in there about 8 8ish maybe before. >> John told detectives that Aaron hadn't been acting right lately, claiming God wanted him to go on a walkabout in the wilderness. He even booked a hotel room in Hot Springs for them to stay, but Aaron disappeared as soon as they arrived. >> Does he work anywhere? He was working at the Eagles law uh Eagles club in Nevada, Missouri, but he just dropped out. >> How long has he lived in this trailer next to you? >> Oh, too long. >> How old is it? >> What I mean is he's dropped out. You know what I'm saying? >> Dropped out. >> Kind of locked. He's not taking care of stuff. >> Okay. Does he have any mental diagnosis? >> Not really. [music] No. >> Okay. >> Not really. But I mean, you can tell when someone's not thinking right, saying off the wall like about God and stuff even. You know, it's like >> he also described the troubling signs of Aaron's mental illness, showing that much of this might have been prevented if he had received help. Then suddenly, [music] John brought up Conniey's death, clearly unable to ignore the truth any longer. >> They found her this morning. >> Who did? [music] >> The coworker. She didn't come in to work and they found her in a tub. >> And that's your what? That's your wife? >> My wife. >> Are y'all still married? >> Oh, yeah. >> What's her name? >> Her name was Connie. >> And when did you receive this information? >> This morning after I had called here a little while, maybe hour or so later. >> So, after you after you reported your son missing, you found out that your wife was deceased. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. >> Did y'all come straight to Hot Springs? >> Correct. Yeah, we came down 49 to 71 to cure [music] 71 like a snake. [clears throat] >> Yes, it is. >> Yes, it did. >> That's why it took I mean Google says 6 hours, but I think it took me seven, you know, maybe more. >> Yeah, as foggy and starv and and weather. >> I'm unfamiliar with the >> Right. >> All right. See, >> I drive on a prairie. After explaining how Conniey's body was found that morning, Jon couldn't stop himself from laughing. While everyone reacts to trauma differently, detectives couldn't help but see it as a troubling sign, potentially mistaken for indifference to his wife's death. But then John mentioned something that made every detective in the room freeze. >> So, y'all went straight to the hotel, checked in somewhere around 8:00 last night, >> I'd say. So, yeah. >> So, when y'all checked in, who checked in? You or >> I did. Okay. And then when I came out to give him his key card, that's that's the story I told you. He was milling around in his gear and getting stuff ready and it didn't act like he want to be there. And I could tell I could take a hint, I guess. I said, "Well, I'll go settle in." Like I said, after an hour, my said something is not right. He should have been up here. He didn't have that much gear. Backpack. I don't know what else I can look. So after about an hour of being in the room for about an hour, you said something's not right cuz he hadn't come up to the room. So you went out to check on him. >> Yeah. I got that funny feeling. You know how you do like he should be here. >> But surely by now. >> Yeah. Then gone. >> And so when you when you went out to Jack, he wasn't there. >> He wasn't there. >> Okay. >> And so I walked around, but there's no much not many places to walk to. >> Right. >> The lake right there, you know. I didn't I didn't walk around that far cuz I didn't know where to go, of course. But it's just weird. >> As John continued his story, he seemed just as confused as anyone about how all of this could be happening. But if Aaron had killed his own mother, when could it have happened? Could it have been while John was out running an errand his son had sent him on? >> I said, "Well, just wait." No, I really need you to do this. That was about maybe 15-minute drive. >> You didn't go, would you? >> No, no, he stayed there. >> So, I I went to look for him and I didn't find any, but I did buy a couple items some more. And I noticed on my receipt I checked out at 12 I think it was 12:32. He I stopped. He threw the plastic bag in there. He already had his backpack in there, I think. [music] And hopped in. And we I said, "All right." Said bye to mom. I guess I'm ready. I just wanted to get down here before dark cuz I can't see very well. Driving in the dark in the rain together. I didn't know if it was raining or not. That's it. They was there. >> John said that Aaron had packed black plastic bags into the truck the night before. The same kind of bags were found at the Walmart crime scene. John described the black plastic trash bags Aaron had [music] packed into his car for the trip. Considering what was later found in the back of the unlucky Walmart shoppers truck, it was likely Conniey's head. >> And I didn't go back in the house [music] cuz I knew she was working anyway. We'd already said goodbye. She thought I was gone. She didn't know about this little bill about running around chasing my tail. So when you said goodbye to Connie, she she thought you were >> gone. >> Gone. Yeah. And then then afterwards you say Aaron >> wanted me to go do this errand while he said he had a prayer. He said I got a prayer if we go. >> Okay. >> When finding time that'll give me time. I don't understand. >> You don't think he do? >> Mr. a good one to I have no idea. >> John tried to piece everything together, but despite not wanting to face the truth, he soon asked detectives a question they already knew the answer to. When they pressed him for his thoughts, he gave a shocking response. >> What's your feeling? >> I think he might. I think he might have. >> I [snorts] don't know. [gasps and sighs] I don't think I'll be doing nothing else. I think it's on my way home. >> I don't know. Just been acting so crazy. >> I don't want to believe that. >> When detectives told John that the hotel security footage didn't match his story, they asked him to clarify a few details. >> We watched some video footage from out of the double tree. Okay. And and it's not really I'll just be frank with you. It's not jing with what what you're saying. And the chain of events was that it happened the last night and early this morning. >> Okay. >> Um, so I'm going to ask you again. If there's something that you're holding back that you're not that you're not wanting to tell us, we need you to tell us. Okay. Okay. [clears throat] >> So, think back. Where was Aaron at? What was he doing the last time you saw him? He was at the bed of the truck going through that bag. >> Going through what bag? >> I think that plastic bag. >> Okay. He was He was going through it. >> Seemed to me like he was looking for things going through it. >> Okay. >> I just thought he was rearranging gear. >> Okay. And so he's still rearranging gear in the bag >> when I went on up >> when you walked off and went up to the room. >> That's correct. He went in and go into the bathroom [music] at one point. >> So So back up. You pull into the parking lot at Double Tree. >> Go from there. >> I [clears throat] went right inside. >> You went inside. >> Yes. >> Okay. And register. [music] Checked in. [clears throat] >> Went to the bathroom. Went to the elevator, but I didn't go up. So I realized I didn't give BMA key. >> Okay. went back out that door. I think we came out >> the side. Okay. Not the main one, but the one little single door. >> I believe it was. Yeah, I believe I went out that way. >> Okay. >> Okay. So, what didn't J when I >> just just some of the stuff the timeline and the order of some of the events. >> Okay. [music] >> Just because we're just trying to >> I know I missed when he went into the bathroom. My >> After explaining what happened before Aaron disappeared again, John asked how the story didn't match what detectives were [music] finding. He still couldn't believe his son could commit such a terrible crime, especially in such a short window of time. >> What I said was surely he didn't kill his mom when I was gone. >> Why? Why do you say that? >> Because of the time. >> Okay. >> Because of all the time. That's why I started putting all that time together. >> Okay. Do you think that he could have done that? >> I don't I don't think he could have, but I I don't know how else other to say to say this other than just come out right up and say it. They are investigating Conniey's Conniey's death as a homicided investigation. Um [music] they haven't given us a whole lot of details, but um with being told that and also that it is believed that Aaron may have had something to do with it. >> This is what I'm trying to tell you. When CCTV footage from Walmart showed Aaron walking around the truck carrying a black plastic bag, detectives had no choice but to break the news to John. A homicide investigation had been opened and his missing son was now the prime suspect. >> So, if there's anything else that you know, you need to tell us. Uh, >> there was a note. >> There was a doubt about that. It's in my cup holder said something like, "I thought I was doing God's will. in this note. >> That's all it said. >> And you found that when? >> This morning. Yeah. And I But I stuck in my cup holder. >> Where was it when you found it? >> It was on the my console. Top of my console. >> Okay. And it said >> it was on top of the room key and I just stuck it in my cup holder. But then I got to thinking about that. >> And it said what again? I I believed I was doing God's will, but I didn't know what that meant. So, I didn't It didn't make sense to me. >> That's the whole content of the note. >> John remembered a cryptic note Aaron had left behind. Could it be linked to the piece of paper found in the cart next to the truck where his mother's head was discovered? >> We've got a search warrant for your truck, a search warrant for your hotel room. Um, we have those the trash bag that was in your truck uh that you said Aaron was doing something with last time you saw him. Um, and there is evidence in that bag that relates to the death of your wife. Detectives told Jon they had search warrants for his truck and hotel room and that they had already examined the black plastic bag his son had been seen handling. But even Jon knew there was more to the story and he was about to learn the full horrifying truth. >> There's more, ain't there? [music] >> I'm trying to figure out how how I want to say this. >> Okay. >> Um, [snorts and clears throat] so we [music] get called today um at um the local Walmart here in town. Okay. Um that a gentleman has called 911 and he has um told the operator that there is a a black trash bag in his truck in the middle of his truck. He's never seen it before. And whenever he opened this truck, there was inside the bag that that had that had come out in the bag. >> Yep. There is How bad was she? There is >> How bad was she? Wait, there are >> body There is a body part. >> Oh god, man. >> In this bag. >> What is it? Her >> and it by all uh intents of purposes it does appear that it is your wife. Um, so I think you now maybe can understand a little bit why we're treating this the way we are and why we're [music] trying to get as much information from you as we possibly can. >> How How come you think it's her? Tell me. Just tell me. >> You want me to be blunt with you? >> Yeah. >> Your wife was decapitated. What the hell? >> He did it again. >> Now, the only suspect, Aaron, vanished into the woods near Hot Springs, sparking a multi-state search. Months passed with no sign of him until March 6th, 2021 when hikers discovered a decomposing body in the forest. The Arkansas State Crime Lab confirmed it was Aaron. He had taken his own life, too. Moving on to a missing woman's case that would lead officers to one of the most disturbing [music] discoveries of their careers. >> And cut up. I saw some toes and an ankle. >> Got a homicide. Found a body in a cooler. >> I need you here like AFAP. >> Welfare checks are part of an officer's routine. But what happens when one of those routine calls turns into the most gruesome discovery of their career? >> Hey, stop reaching around. Hey, there's someone in the back seat. [music] There's a body in the back. >> These were the moments when good cops made horrifying discoveries. We begin with a case where a disturbing man thought he could skirt the law after hiding his girlfriend in a cooler. >> We're looking for Kimberly. >> Kelly, [music] >> do you know her? >> I I haven't heard from her in a while. The last time I've seen her is a couple months and last I heard she's in Kazoo. Although he believed his crime was perfect and would never be discovered, his gruesome plan was about to unravel when officers sensed something wasn't right and began looking deeper. >> You might have to stand here and look in. >> You can. I mean, I don't have her here. >> What's in the cooler? >> Oh, that's where when summer comes around, I'm going to have parties and stuff. >> Can you open that for me and then we'll get out of here. What's in there? >> Just stuff. Okay. [music] >> Okay. On May 22nd, 2019, officers in Michigan received a serious call from a man named Steven. He told police that his friend Wade Allen had contacted him asking for help to hide his girlfriend's body, and instead of helping, Steven called authorities. He provided the exact address of the residence and said the woman's body was inside. After receiving the chilling call, officers went to the location, but were unable to locate the residence. The officers then called Steven again, and he only confirmed what happened. >> All right, Steven. >> Yes, >> this is Officer Fister's Police Department. We checked that address and there's no nobody to it's not an apartment. It's just a house. Did you see this firsthand or he tell you this or how? >> Uh he told me about it and asked me if I wanted to see him or see the body and I said no. >> Okay. So he just asked you if you wanted to see the dead body. >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> He was trying [music] to get me to help him to where he can go bury the body and we told him that we wasn't going to do that. >> And do you know who the person is that? >> Yeah. Her name is Kelly Jean Warner. >> After speaking with Steven, the officers headed to the house. And the moment they stepped inside, they felt that something was deeply, deeply wrong. All right, Wade. >> Hey, Wade. How you doing, man? >> Hey, how you doing? >> Feeling good. >> I remember you from the speedway. >> 35 375. >> What are you up to now? >> Not much. >> We're looking for Kimberly. >> Kelly or Kelly? She >> You know Kelly? >> Kimberly or Kelly? from the shelter. Maybe >> KJ. >> KJ. >> Yeah, >> it's Kelly. >> Nicknamed KJ 46. >> Oh, I don't know. I haven't heard from that person in some months. >> Um, do do you know her? Do you I I haven't heard from her in a while. The last time I've seen her is couple months. The last I heard she's in Kazoo. And after that, I haven't heard from her. >> In the hallway, even before anyone opened the door, officers noticed a horrible odor, one that was impossible to mistake. After knocking, they were met by Wade Allen, Kelly's boyfriend, the man Steven said had called him. >> Do you mind if we come and look see if make sure she's not here? >> I can tell you she's not. I mean, you know, uh, and I haven't got any mail. If you got that, I can give you that. But she's not here right now. I can tell you that. >> You don't mind if we just verify real quick she's not in there and then we'll get out of here. Just tell Kazoo that she's not down here and we can get get that wiped off plate. >> I think the best way for me to help you get a hold of her is through the shelter. I got uh her shelter manager person and I can give you that information, but as far as here, I I don't like just my my place is a mess and I don't like just people coming and going all the time. >> We don't care. We see all sorts of apartments and homes and >> well um all we got to do is verify she's not here and then we can get out of here and be done with it. They've been trying to locate her for a few days and I've been waiting to hear from her on Facebook and I haven't heard from her. So that's all I could tell you is try Kazoo. like she hasn't been here in forever and I don't know what to tell you. >> Okay. Well, I'd really appreciate if you let us come in look real quick. We could care less about whatever your apartment looks like. >> Um, >> signal time. >> I don't know. I I feel iffy. Um, if you guys want to come by another time, just not right now. Let me at least have a date where I can clean up and do things. [music] >> Okay. Well, here here's the deal, Wade. Um, if we got to get a search warrant, we will. >> All right. We don't want to go that route. >> I know. >> Um, that's a lot of work for all of us, including you. So, um, if we got to do that, we're going to have to detain you and put you in the car for a little while. >> I can open up and I'll say, "Hey, KJ. Kelly." And there's no Kelly or KJ. Do >> you my advice to stand here and look in? >> You can. I mean, I don't have her here. >> Okay. >> Honestly, she hasn't been here in months. >> Can you just throw some shoes on real quick? >> Uh, I could. Why? Why don't you have my shoes on? >> Cuz like I said, you're going to be detained and we're going to get a search warrant. Okay. >> Well, you just want to walk in. That's it. >> Yeah, that's basically all we want to do is just verify it. >> Our bosses want to make sure she's not here. So, we don't want we want to do what we got to do for our job and then we're out. >> And if she's here, we don't care. We could just say, "Hey." Okay. If she's not here yet, do you mind if it's just one of you there? I just >> One of us is One of us is fine. >> You want to come in? >> I'll go in, Wade. Thank you. >> I know you know me enough. Like, >> yeah, I just >> Wade's behavior was wildly strange. He acted as if he were distant from Kelly, even though witnesses had said otherwise. When officers asked him to step inside, he grew increasingly uncomfortable, trying to avoid the situation, but he couldn't. It's not much, but I don't have I mean, I got my friend sunglasses here. But >> what's in the cooler? >> Well, that's for when the summer comes around. I'm going to have parties and stuff. So, >> all right. No problem. Can you open that for me and then we'll get out of here. >> Well, not right now. I can't like I mean, I want to save that for later. >> But I showed you she hasn't been here in forever. >> Okay. Well, you don't Why don't you just open that cooler and we'll get out of here. I just want to make sure anywhere that she's she could be hiding. >> She's not going to be hiding. >> Well, I Okay, I just need to know that. Okay. >> No, I mean I I can help you out there, but I've shown you everything. >> Okay. All right. You won't >> I haven't seen her, like I said, for >> You don't want no closets or >> No. Um I mean, this that's it. >> Okay. But she's not here and hasn't been. I wish she was. >> All right, man. I can you can walk me to the front then. So, >> all right. >> You want You want to open that cooler for me? >> Well, >> can you open the fridge for me? Make sure she's not hiding in there. >> There's no point in the fridge either. Like, I mean, it's just food and stuff. >> I understand. You have shoes you can throw on real quick. >> A little bit. Uh, but here, I'll help you out now. >> Okay, I'll help you out. Go on out. Well, I got >> You're You're detained right now. Okay, go on out. >> I'm detained. >> You're detained. Walk out there. >> You said I said you're not going to get them on now. I'm giving you the opportunity to walk out there. >> WDE's resistance to opening the cooler immediately raised serious red flags for the officers. Whether Wade agreed or not, they were determined to get what they needed, even if it meant taking a longer route to do so. >> Do it now. You got anything illegal on you? >> No, I don't. >> Okay, put your hands behind your back. >> A knife or anything like that? >> No. >> Okay, why don't you turn around against the wall real slowly? being the tent. I'm just >> just want the opportunity to look the rest of the way through the apartment. Okay. >> Well, I I showed you everything here. Let me >> Do you want to show me? >> I I I will. I showed you everything. >> Why don't you Why don't you walk back in there and show me then? >> But I did. >> I see. >> Can I look in that fridge? >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> There's something. >> Okay. I see she's not in there. >> What she want to be in a fridge? [laughter] >> I understand that. But we got to look. We found people in some crazy places in in little cupboards like that. People can crawl in there and fit in there. I just want to make sure 100% that she's not here and then we'll get out of here. >> She wouldn't have to hide. >> Well, I I don't know her. I don't know anything about her. I don't know if she's hiding from the law or hiding from her family or or what she's doing. So, >> I don't think she would. I just want to verify. Okay. Can I look in that cooler over there? >> Um that that's kind of like I said later on in summer stuff, but I'm trying to keep my stuff kind of private, you know. >> Well, that's fine. All I want to do is open it, say, [music] "KJ, you in there?" And then close it right back up and I'll get out of here. You'll be out of handcuffs and we'll be gone. Well, >> let's have a warrant for the rest of this and I'll just get detained. I just >> As Wade was taken to the patrol car, he continued to question why officers needed to open the cooler. But once he realized they would obtain a search warrant and uncover his dark secret, whether he wanted it or not, he finally permitted them to open it. And what they found inside was one of the most gruesome scenes they had ever encountered. >> Okay. You want me to open the door for you? >> Yeah. You don't want us come or gone. Then we'll get you out of handcuffs and I we'll leave. >> Yeah, >> I'm good to check things out. All I'm concerned about is any closets or >> any coolers? >> Like I said, just in here. >> Okay. You can Can I pop it open? Just take a peek. >> Well, yeah, if you want. >> Okay. Why >> don't you step back for a second? >> Okay. What's in there? just stuff. >> Okay. All right. Let's head out here. But uh my wallet's right there. >> Okay, I'll grab it. Head out. Head out here. >> Good now. >> Yep. Yep. Everything's good. >> I showed you everything. >> Yep. You're under arrest. Okay. >> Under arrest. >> Yes, [music] you are. >> All right. Got to get the crime task force out here. Come check this out. >> What? >> Uh, got a homicide. Found a body in a cooler. Looked like she's probably, I don't know, doubled over in there. The cooler is probably 4T long or something. I looked in there and I seen an arm and it had like black mold dots on it. >> Hey Sam, this is Damon. Um, and I need you here at 209 North Maple like ASAP. >> Inside the cooler, officers found the body of Kelly Gene Warner, Wade's girlfriend. Their suspicions had now turned into something concrete. The call from Steven, the horrific odor, and Wade's bizarre behavior finally made sense. After discovering the body, officers arrested Wade and brought him to the interrogation room, ready to uncover what had happened between the couple. Instead, what followed was a carefully constructed chain of lies designed by Wade in an attempt to escape the situation. >> All right, Wade. soon. >> What I would like to know from you is in your own words what happened to Kelly Jean. >> I know she's been through a lot. I'll start with saying that she's hypoglycemic. Okay. >> All right. So, her eating levels are important. She has to have a certain amount of sugars or whatever. I only bring that to attention because I know at one point while she was making the cereal, she fainted and really hurt her head and it really concerned me cuz a little after that I started seeing impairment issues whether it's speech, memory, things like that. I was concerned That incident had to have happened in March. >> Okay. So, it's been a little bit ago. >> I want to say when you say she fainted and hurt her head, how how did she hurt her head? I watched her when she fell. When she fell back, it was back her head on the floor. Like I said, her motor skills and memory were starting to not be very fast. >> Okay. When she fell, [music] you described it as she kind of fell backwards and hit the back of her head on the floor. >> Yeah. >> Where in was this at your apartment? >> Yeah. >> At 209. Okay. Where inside of the apartment did she fall and where did that happen at? >> Kitchen. >> In the kitchen. Okay. When she fell, would did she become unconscious? Did she knock herself out? Did she just kind of stone herself? Did she >> She was unconscious for a little bit. >> Okay. About how long [music] would you say a little bit would be? Wow. >> I would say 5 to 10 minutes, even though that might seem like a little The investigation began in the most unsettling way possible. Instead of even pretending to be sad about what had happened to Kelly, Wade showed no emotion at all. He didn't cry. He didn't show any signs of remorse. He simply stood there telling a fabricated story, convinced he could fool the police. And the more Wade talked, the more cracks began to appear in his story. So, let's let's go start from March of 2019 when you witnessed her fame and hit her head and move until up until today. >> All right. I believe she left for a while, got into a really bad relationship and then she came back to me. But yeah, there was that. And then I was trying to take care of her. >> It was I saw like a yellow thing forming in her eye at one point. Then that turned into a blood set that became both eyes. When did you observe this or when did you notice this issue with her eyes? >> This this was within a week or two all this is going to be only two weeks time period because it was about 2 weeks after that when I found her in the show. >> All right. So she passed out her head on the floor. You said within a week she had something in her eye. in that first week. >> So when she fell, hit her head, lost consciousness. Did she then come back around? >> Yeah. Just lost some memory of like she didn't know how or why she fell. >> Okay. >> So then after that, you said that you noticed something in her eyes that looked like some yellow bus. >> It turned into blood. When I say motor skills, like she was at a point where she wasn't able to feed herself and that really concerned me. I did my best to try to help feed her cuz one time I I came in, I saw her sitting on the tub and I tried to feed her this meal, one of these freezer dinners. I have a bunch of those and um it was chilly and she was just kind of like holding it like this and then she just moving so slow and there was just chili all over her. I said I tried to feed her as much as I could. I said, "You need help up either." And then like when it came to like drinking water, I eventually started to give her a straw cuz like when I tried to pour water into her mouth, there was a few times she would choke on it. So I'm like, "This is not working." >> Kelly was diabetic, which could have caused her to faint. But the fact that Wade never called for medical help was deeply suspicious. He also claimed that Kelly had been in a troubled relationship before returning to him. And while it was true that Kelly had met another man, the injuries to her eyes were not caused by this secret lover. But Wade managed to make the situation even worse when he revealed a disturbing detail about what had happened to Kelly. >> I thought you'd be okay if she was laying down, not standing up. I'm going to have to watch overall, right? So I see more. She wasn't breathing and I just really shocked me. [music] I saw her be and that means that she started with hot water and I don't know. Do they have the strength to turn the knob? I don't I can't understand why she didn't turn it or adjust it or I don't know if that was the [music] cause of death is is hot water. When you left the bathroom, how was she conditioned? >> She was laying. >> Okay. And you said you started the water so the water [music] was running. >> Yeah. And >> And was the tub the stopper in there so that the tub would accumulate water [music] so she could take a bath? >> Yeah. >> And did you go back in there? >> I went to sleep. >> You went to sleep? >> I thought she would be okay. What Wade described was in fact the disturbing sequence of events he had forced Kelly to endure. According to him, Kelly's death could be linked to being left in extremely hot water. But just minutes earlier, he had claimed she couldn't move on her own, which meant that if she died in the bathtub, Wade knew she was there agonizing in the water. >> Well, that is my I treated guilty of the situation and I felt like what I said I figur anything. At least wherever I'll put her, I would visit her. I wouldn't want her to like know where I visit her. >> Wade's reason for keeping Kelly's body with him was deeply concerning. And as absurd as it may sound, the situation became even more serious after a neighbor came forward with her account. According to her, Wade claimed that Kelly had hit her head in the bathtub, causing fractures to her skull. Not only that, but Steven's account further exposed how twisted Wade's story really was. When questioned, Steven revealed that Wade had made several disturbing comments about dissecting a body, especially someone he knew well and told officers that Wade often talked about taking Kelly's life to the point where Steven eventually stopped spending time with him. On the night Wade called Steven for help, he claimed he had hit Kelly against the fireplace, but believed she was still alive. He then said he used a torch on parts of her body to see if she would react before placing her in the bathtub, later cutting her body and storing the remains in coolers. It was only after that that Wade contacted Steven, asking for help disposing of the body. By this point, Wade had provided at least three different versions of events, something he could no longer keep straight. While Wade was being questioned, another group of officers went to his house to search for any signs of what had happened that night. And what they found there would haunt them forever. >> Morning, boss. >> Hi. >> Where am I going? >> What's that? >> Where are we going? >> I have in the back in the corner in the living room. There's a green cooler right there. I just cracked it. He finally gave me permission to come in here and look in there cuz that cooler. >> That cooler. The >> the lid opens from the back side. I peeked over the left hand. >> No. And I I didn't I just took him straight out. And >> what? I have no idea. and cut up. There's another cooler in here. >> There's another cooler in the bedroom. >> I saw some toes and an ankle. While searching the house, officers discovered that Kelly's body was not entirely inside the cooler. Some parts had been cut away, suggesting they were located elsewhere in the home, and disturbingly, they were. Officers soon found a second cooler hidden inside the residence, containing additional parts of Kelly's body. The scene was so gruesome that even the most experienced officers struggled to process what they were seeing. Investigators also located a reciprocating saw, plastic sheets covering the windows, protective eyewear, gloves, garbage bag liners, ropes, ties, and a single white ribbon. All of these items painted a clear picture of the story Wade was trying to hide. One that would later be fully revealed as the investigation continued. Back in the interrogation room, investigators pressed Wade further, this time questioning him about the unsettling discovery of the cooler. >> I Yeah, I didn't move her at all for a long time. >> How long do you think a long time would be? We wanted to put her all at one so she could be whole. I couldn't really groom her in any kind of way to keep her whole. Nothing I could do to keep her remain whole. That's where it really gets. >> So you say you cut her legs. How? Where did you cut her like that? Hopefully you never have to see something like this in your life. So here and then here. I started here, but then I realized her knees were still over the edge. >> Mhm. >> So, I had to go here, too. >> Okay. And how did you cut her legs? >> I used a saw. >> A saw? Like a [music] handsaw? Like a reciprocating saw? >> Reciprocating saw. Yeah. Is it that you called Steven then? >> Around the time of [music] like within a week after she passed. >> Okay. What did you tell him happened to Kelly? >> I don't know what happened. Um, >> did you tell him that you backhanded her? Something happened and she passed away. Backhanded her. No. If he said that, then I'm a little bit upset because that's not sure. >> How angry were you with her or leaving and then coming back? >> I know. >> No, I I love >> I know you do. >> I know. >> To the point [music] where she's going to be with you and no one else. At this point, the investigator began confronting Wade with the evidence, questioning him about what he had told Steven, fully aware that their versions of events didn't match. It was then that he asked a critical question, one that would later reveal itself as the driving force behind WDE's actions. After the investigation, Wade was formally charged and taken to jail. But if officers believed things would settle there, they were deeply mistaken. While in jail, Wade began boasting to his cellmates about the story he had never told investigators. The first person to hear it was Kelly's sister, who by a cruel coincidence was sharing a cell with her sister's [music] attacker and later told investigators that Wade claimed he had dug a hole behind a Kroger store to bury Kelly. However, the most unsettling accounts came from other cellmates who, although accustomed to hearing disturbing stories, were genuinely terrified by WDE's claims. One in particular that caught investigators attention, Daniel Kes. >> This guy is, well, let me just put it to you like this. He's a serial killer. >> Okay. >> Okay. Um he told us that he [music] physically had this girl down on the bed with a white ribbon around her neck watching [music] the clock for 5 minutes until she she would and he brought her back to life. And when he did the torture that he put her through before he had choked her out with this white ribbon, [music] he gave us detail on this ribbon and this paracord that he used and Oh, it's just it's gross. It's disgusting. >> And you said he brought her back. What do you mean by that? What did he >> He gave her CPR. she was gave was giving her CPR and brought her back at that time. He said that she she went blue and he said he got on his phone because the next day when she was already brain dead >> when he started strangling her >> after after >> she become brain dead. >> Okay. >> Because she couldn't talk, she couldn't walk anything. He said that he bought a torch lighter from Dollar General. >> Mhm. >> And Sturgis out to buy. He said the pediatric center. And he said he burnt her tongue, the tip of her tongue, both of her and her. And I said, "Wow." I said, "That's gruesome, dude." I said, "What did you do after that?" He says, I had told I said, "Are you serious, dude?" He said, "Yeah, he is very turned on to me, like wants to do things with me. That dude needs to be put away for a long time." >> I agree. This what I heard was the most traumatizing thing I've ever heard since I've been in any county jail. But we were taking shifts on staying awake. >> Okay. >> We didn't want to go to sleep with this guy in there. >> Gotcha. >> That's why he did this because he said she cheated on him. >> Okay. >> This was the main reason why he did this to her. Because she cheated on him and broke his heart. >> What Daniel revealed confirmed the investigator's suspicions. According to him, Wade confessed that he took Kelly's life after learning she had found love elsewhere. While still in a relationship with him, Daniel also explained what the items investigators found in the house had been used for. Not just him, but other cellmates shared the same disturbing details. Wade bragged that he tied Kelly while she was still alive and locked her in a closet before leaving for work, and that [music] he gagged her with a screwdriver so she couldn't scream. One cellmate even repeated the same account Steven had given, describing how Wade used a torch on Kelly's body. At that point, the picture painted by the evidence investigators had found became clear and deeply disturbing, [music] and WDE's behavior hadn't started randomly. One of his exes later came forward, describing the traumatic period she endured with him and stating that if she hadn't escaped, she believed she would have been the one inside the cooler. Daniel's account drew even more attention when it was revealed that after learning his cellmates had reported him, Wade planned revenge and assaulted Daniel, who later described the disturbing attempts Wade made toward him. The evidence against Wade was overwhelming, and in the end, he was charged with secondderee murder, attempted dismemberment of a body, and thirdderee criminal sexual conduct. He was sentenced to 37 to 60 years in prison with an additional consecutive sentence for criminal sexual misconduct.
