I was on the interstate. I was like literally exiting off. I was going to the Chinese buffet and the thing is I got >> You had just got an off. >> Yeah. Yeah. I moved over and like I saw him move into the middle of the road like Okay. I moved over and then you moved forward and I'm like >> which lane were you in? >> I was in this lane. I went to that lane cuz the thing is I saw him in this lane. I'm like, "Okay." Looked around him, then he went forward. >> So, he's in front of you. You're going like this. >> And then you're going to go to the left lane, the one left, and then he got in your way. >> Do you have your license or >> Where are you coming from? >> I was coming from Lman. I was just getting Chinese food. I'm so sorry. This my ID. >> I'm so sorry. >> Where are you coming from? >> I was coming from Lman. I literally just came home. >> This This is Lman 114. >> I'm so sorry. >> Where were you coming from? I was coming from university off to Lman. I literally just dropped off my little sister. I told her I want to get some Chinese food from the Chinese buffet and I saw him and I went around him and I >> So you're coming from university? >> Yes, sir. >> Where did you drop off your niece? >> I dropped my little little sister right now. Your little sister? >> Yes. My little sister my parents house right now. Alberta is over there and I went over here >> and like I saw him and I went around him. >> At this point, the officers needed more information. But the moment certain questions were asked, something shifted in the young woman and she seemed to get more desperate. >> No uh drinking or driving? No or nothing? >> No. >> Okay. I just have to ensure that's all. >> Okay. >> Let me go with you cuz there people >> I just >> That's fine. You said no drinking and driving, right, ma'am? >> Okay. Okay. Sounds good. What's that? >> It's okay. >> I saw her. >> You having transplant? >> I'm sorry. >> Actually, just >> um >> Oh, they're checking them. I'm just >> Oh my god. Okay. >> Just go to Let's go to the crib. Just go to the crib. >> You can put that back in your car, man. It's fine. I just need to >> I'm just in case like >> No, I just put it up cuz you're not holding it. Uh this is not going to open. >> Open. Yeah, it's on. >> I saw him immediately pulling through. I'm like, "Okay, I'm going to avoid him, but I like to go through." I'm like, "No, no, no, no." >> Emily, they're assessing him. Okay, I'll keep you updated on all that. Um, out of curiosity cuz there's some I heard some blatantly saying, "You didn't go over curb or anything like that, right?" >> No, I went this way. That's why I'm like, "What do you mean I went this way?" >> And was he in the lane or was he in this little thing right here? >> I saw the voice going this way. I'm like, "Yo, I'm go this way." Then like >> So from this little lane right here, >> he was going this way. So then you're going to go. >> Okay. >> A man who was right there on the sidewalk when the accident happened had his version for the police. However, his version of events contradicted what Emily had just told the officers. >> But what happened? >> Standing right here. I was about to come talk to my friend. I was strangers right here. He kind of got a dog. >> So I wanted to cross the road. As I'm waiting to cross the road, Mustang is hauling ass. No joke. My friend was not in the road. >> He was on the road. >> This is your friend. Yeah, I know him from >> Okay. >> I know him from being out here. >> Got you. >> Yeah, cuz I walked around and stuff. He was fine before. I was walking to the >> He get here and >> Okay. >> He was Look, there's a cigarette. There's cigarette. >> Just hang out. >> One of these officers needs to get your information. Okay. >> Hey, Brown. I need his He's a witness. >> Is he okay? >> I don't They transported him. Respectfully, I've only spoken to you and what I overheard. I I did not make any contact with him. >> So, I don't know. >> You tried avoiding him. >> Did the impact happen right there? >> Yes, it happened right here. That's why I was like I tried avoiding like I saw him cross like okay like I went avoiding and then he went forward. That's why I was like why? >> Okay. All righty. Just want to make sure cuz again I don't know where the allegation came from the sidewalk. That's what I'm trying to piece together. Like, no, I've never hit the sidewalk cuz I'm like, I went around him. >> Okay. Do you know how he ended up on that side? >> No, I don't know. That's the thing is like I don't know if they dragged him over there as I pulled out over here. I'm like, is he okay? Is he okay? Oh, yeah. They put him over there. >> Okay. >> Following the investigation, the cops conducted a sobriety test on Emily. But as the test went on, she seemed to be falling apart. And [music] with that, the officers got some of the answers the sobriety test was intended to help them get. Just cuz of the lights. >> Can you move your hair out of the way? Like behind your ears. Calling me. Sorry. >> Just take a few minutes. Central. >> It's okay. Take a deep breath. >> All right. Can you put your hands on >> Papa? in the area of 91 station. >> Relax. >> Again, this is just to ensure you're not impaired. That's all. >> I got you. >> I'm going to social work. No, >> you're a social worker. >> Yes, I'm going for social work. I'm a master. >> Oh, okay. He he'll explain to you. >> Face me. >> Face you. >> I got your line. >> Everyone's good for now. >> Okay. So, you >> use my line, correct? >> Yeah. >> Okay. So, now next you're going to go ahead and place your your right foot on your left. Okay, put your arms down at your side. Make sure both feet are on the right line. >> Feel the tail. >> Okay, you're going to go in and you're going to count out loud. >> Nine steps. Okay. When you get to your ninth step, you're going to make a series of small circles. You're going to turn around and you're continue on this line back with nine steps, saying them out loud. Once they tell you to stop, once they tell you to stop, start with the tests, you're not stopped until you are done. >> Okay. >> So, like no faces that way, then turn around faces this way, the knife faces that way. >> Yes. So, you're going to count out loud, heel toe, nine steps. >> Yes, sir. >> Okay. So, this is my first step, right? >> I think he's going to start all over, ma'am. Just to cover any No, no, you're fine. >> Sorry. I'm like I don't want to like Sorry. No, no, you're fine. First time ever doing this. I'm like, I want You're fine. Okay. >> So then put your put your >> So this one >> there's like one two >> screen [music] 1 100,002 1,003 1,004 1006 I'm sorry 100,000 10 112 11 21 14 1 19201223 124 1 12526 27 You relax that 15. >> Emily's mother and little sister arrived at the accident scene. When the police told them about Emily's current situation and the man who was, they were visibly shocked. >> So, are you guys family members? >> Her mother. >> Yeah. She's getting arrested right now for drunk driving. >> Okay. She left our house. She didn't >> Okay, >> I know. I >> I get it. But yeah, that's what's happening right now. The person, I don't know the status of him right now, but he's probably on his way to El Paso. It doesn't look very good. So, that's just preliminary charges at this time. >> Okay. Is it alcohol or what charges is it? >> I'm not sure it's DWI. Is the Is the subject okay at this point? Not really. We don't know the extent of his injuries, but he's probably going to be going to El Paso by a helicopter. So, >> do we know how it happened? >> Well, from what we can tell, the initial tell is she's speeding off the exit ramp, trying to beat the light and never slows down, never the brake, and just nails him right on the sidewalk. >> On the sidewalk. >> Yeah, he's on the sidewalk. He gets launched over the over the bridge, so she's going pretty fast. which is, you know, not normal if you're not if you have all your abilities on you. You know, it doesn't normally happen. That's basically where it's at. Uh she'll be able to make a phone call once she gets to the jail and everything >> and then you'll know then, but more than likely she'll see the judge within by state law, she has to see the judge within the next 48 hours. >> Um right now it's a DWI charge. Um, and it could be something else down the road, but depends on what the condition of the the subject is. Okay, so basically that's where we're at. >> 4 days later, the investigation took a heavier turn [music] and the police had to sit down with the mother of the man who was hit. >> Miss, the one with I was the one that spoke to you the other day on the phone. >> Yes, ma'am. >> Okay. My my son did pass away. >> Okay. We got that information from the office of the medical investigator. sit down. >> So, we're moving forward with other charges for that. >> Yeah. >> So, we have to get with the DA and we're waiting on that, too. >> Okay. because I went to the um guest funeral home because he's a he was an or organ donor and they said because since he was an orphan donor they have to [music] they could take him to Albuquerque to do another talk just to [music] make sure that that he actually from the fall you know cuz he was brain >> okay >> that girl out of jail after he was my son he need to the back of their >> right and there's a process there's a due process that they go through we already >> right >> they need to already they they really need to um charge up for that >> and that's what we're working on we're doing the charges right now >> and it's you have to understand it's a process everybody gets a due process [music] right you're you're innocent until proven guilty and and that's the way America works so >> yeah but she gets them in the car they have so many there so many witnesses Right. But you understand there's a you have to understand too there's a due process that every American is given. >> They shouldn't even let her let her out to what they got her with. She was three what? Three times intoxicated. Three times over the limit in her alcohol. >> Three times. >> I'm not sure what it was. >> Yeah. They said three times. >> Yeah. It was maybe you're looking at one and a half times. >> I don't know. But they were saying three times. >> Okay. You're going to hear a lot of things if there's questions that we can ask for you right now. >> Yeah. But you don't even know yet about how the the amount of alcohol she had. >> It's not three times I can tell you that it was uh >> but that's still a lot for him. >> It's still if she was still over >> I'm just trying to dispel any rumors cuz you're going to hear a lot of rumors. >> I know that. But and I want to give you the facts. >> Still a lot right >> for a human being. >> Absolutely. >> Especially that he pulled all the way down from the bridge. >> Right. That's your whole life. >> In the end, prosecutors charged Emily with homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence. On July 11th, 2025, Emily was imposed a 10-year prison sentence where she will serve 7 years in custody with 3 years of her sentence suspended. [music] Next, we have the case of three teenagers involved in a crash so violent that one of them never made it home. >> I try to take her home. I was trying to take her home and then all of a sudden, I don't know. I don't know what happened. We're going to definitely want you to get looked at. Especially we got >> I know. I know. But I really I really really cannot afford. >> I was driving and then Yeah, I I went a little bit over. >> On December 30th, 2024 in Wauaaw County, Wisconsin, the officers arrived in a chaotic setting. Multiple cars were involved in a crash and in the middle of it all, a girl was trapped inside the wreckage. But there's someone else at the scene that night who immediately catches their attention. Yes. [laughter] >> She will be going to the hospital. >> Okay. I think my leg got hurt. I just want to make sure. >> Is she okay? >> Is she okay? >> I'm okay. >> Right now. Okay. Take a deep breath right now. >> Were you in the car? >> I I was the driver. I >> Can we Can we get someone to there? Cuz there there's a lady in there. >> Yeah, there's a there's a paramedic over >> there. I'm so sorry. I didn't see that. >> Yeah. This is a bad seat belt. >> She is 18 and I was wearing my seat belt and I am 19. around. She thinks she may have a problem. >> I think we're okay. >> She is paramedics now. >> Please. >> She is not good. >> Okay. I'm here. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I was going to come. Okay. >> Is she okay? >> She's going to be She's going to be okay. She's She's conscious. She's talking. She's going to be okay. Let the Let the paramedics do their job. Okay. All around them, the accident scene was still chaotic and noisy. With the teenager's girlfriend bailing in pain in the background as the officer pressed on, the suspect's composure began to fracture, but he kept insisting he was fine while in the same breath letting his guilty feelings slip. >> She's getting >> girlfriend intersection shut down from every direction. What? No. No. >> No. We're not going to be >> standing. I'm standing. He's moving around. >> I'm really cold. >> I'm really cold. >> You okay, buddy? >> You got a lot of blood on you. Does anything hurt right now? >> Just a stupid boyfriend, I guess. I was just trying to take her home. >> I was trying to take her home and then all of a sudden I don't know. I don't know what happened. I >> I going this direction. >> Yes. Yes. I I'm not I'm not drunker all the time. >> I don't at all. >> I crashed. >> Is she okay? Is she okay? But you got to you got to let her be. You got to let them do their job. >> The most important person that was in that movie. >> She is. Yeah. It wasn't me. The vehicle right here. >> It wasn't me. >> Yeah. Like like communicated himself. >> I wasn't. >> One second Jason was breaking down. The next he was collected then right back to apologizing. But according to him, none of this was his fault. >> I'm sorry. You're all right. >> It's Yeah, I got in this accident. He's in there. And >> who was driving? >> I was. >> You were? Do you have your ID on you? >> Yep. That's what I'm getting right now. It's >> nothing hurt. I'm good. I'm good. I know. I don't know any I don't need no fire. I'm good. >> We're going to I mean, with this mechanism of injury, we're going to definitely want you to get looked at, especially we got some >> I know. I know. But I really I really really cannot afford >> Don't Don't worry about the money, buddy. ID. That doesn't matter. That doesn't matter right now. Okay. >> I I I just got by a semi-truck. Okay, man. >> You're good, man. Just take a deep breath. We're going to get you checked out by fire. Okay. >> No, I I I >> It doesn't cost you any money. It's going to be paid for by the city. >> Okay. >> But right now, we need to get you taken care of. >> Okay. I I'm getting it. I'm getting it. >> You're okay. You're okay. Take a couple deep breaths. >> Yeah. >> Here. Do you want me to look for it for you? It's It's somewhere in this pocket. >> I got you. >> Okay. >> That's my security or my social security. >> It's in one of these. You said >> it's in Yeah. Somewhere in in this wallet. >> Oh, right here. It's right here. It's right here. >> Perfect. Thank you. >> Sorry. I'm so sorry. >> You're okay. You're okay, man. Go sit on this cot. Let them take a look at you. Okay. >> I'm >> So, the officers started talking to the other people who were at the accident scene. What they heard is a completely different story from Jason's and it painted a very specific picture of what actually happened out there. >> Um he this car was coming this way very fast. >> This one? No, this car >> was coming very fast and flashing its brakes. >> And this car was it stopped and started to um come through to the intersection and I I was I saw that you know this one was flashing it bright like I ain't stopping and smashed right into her. And then >> what direction was she going? >> She was coming this way. >> She's coming. >> I was the car that just got through the intersection and then I saw him flashing the lights. He was going flashing the lights. >> She was already at the stop sign and I I got there first. So I passed. >> She came in. I noticed him flashing going past >> and then I heard it. I heard the slam and then I turned around. >> So was she in the intersection first? >> Yes, she was in the intersection. >> He just went right through the stop sign. >> Right through probably 40 miles. Inside the ambulance, medics and cops asked Jason more questions. Jason claimed he was clean and was willing to go through tests, but the longer that conversation goes on, the harder it becomes to believe him. >> If you guys want to take uh um like how much I was drinking test or whatever, you can do that, too. >> I mean, what are you drinking tonight? >> Nothing. >> Nothing? >> No. Like, literally nothing. That's what I'm saying. Like, you can take that and I would prefer. >> No. >> Okay. Just checking. I I haven't taken anything and I just I just smashed into that that car and I >> No, that's my record. So, >> Oh my god. Did I Okay, so I know I hit that car, but >> am I okay? Like is she okay or whoever I >> You're my concern right now. >> I'm fine. I'm fine. >> All right. You're going to feel a big poke over here. Hold still. One, two, three. >> No, that poke is fine. I just >> wish I wasn't drunk on that side. >> What's that? I missed that. >> Am I drunk on that side? >> No. No. >> Like confirmed. Like am I just >> Why would you say that? >> Well, I was just saying like why is it beeping, you know? >> Oh, that's just the pulse. It's me false. It's just having a hard time. >> So, am I going to get like arrested right now? We need a >> I I cracked the praise. >> Just relax your head back against >> I know. I know. I know. I was I was trying to look at you too much. I'm sorry. >> That truck was only worth 500 bucks. That's kind of floated. Sorry. >> Wow. They ruined it. Don't be lame, Charlie. You have a uh All right, let's try this again. Sorry, that was funny. Actually, it was >> the timing works that way. >> The timing of that was >> Nope. I'm fine. Are they okay? Are the person that whoever I is okay? >> I can't tell you that cuz I'm not taking care of him. So, I don't know. >> Jason, do you remember what happened when you crashed? >> I was driving and then Yeah, I I went a little bit over >> a little bit over the center line. >> Yeah. >> Okay. I >> Which direction were you going? >> I was going this way the way that we're going now. >> And I um >> Did you end up spinning around in a circle then? >> No, I I don't know. I I I just remember I had >> one of the >> I was driving my girlfriend and then I spun around because I her and I >> Sorry. Can you just give me one minute, bud? I'm the one driving and yeah, I should get charged. >> What should you get charged with? >> Smashed into another person. I mean, it might have been them who drove out, but I don't care. I mean, I really I'll take the plane. I feel so bad for hitting her and having her like like like hurt, you know? I I don't want her to deal with that. any recreational drugs tonight cuz you're acting a little goofy. Haven't been in a car accident. >> No, I'm I mean, yeah, I got in a car crash, but you're >> I'm acting goofy. I'm acting goofy because yes, you got in a car crash with me and you cracked my head and I wanted to be funny and I'm sorry that wasn't that funny. Whatever, >> but I'm okay. All right, we're just falling into the hospital. >> Do I Do I have to pay for this? >> That's a for >> No, I have to pay for this. I already paid for this uh hop hospital visit. It was 275 bucks. I don't want to pay for this. Can I just go? >> Unfortunately, not. >> Why? How much do I have to pay for this? How much do I have to pay for this? >> I don't do billing. >> No. Please just let me go. Just let me go. I can't pay for this. >> Don't worry about that right now. I can't I cannot pay for this. I cannot pay for this. >> Just relax. >> While Jason was on his way to the hospital, the cops [music] turned their attention to the other side of this story. Behind this crash, there was a girl in one of the cars by Jason with a whole life ahead of her. >> I just saw a Christmas Eve and she was thinking about mom and she got accepted already in college in Arizona Christian school. >> That's very cool. and it's just the greatest kid that you could ever expect. >> And the mother's in England and I got tonight, >> but um >> yeah, I mean, we don't want to dig her pride too much right now. Um >> she's a good kid to National Honor Society. >> Oh, I I don't doubt that. >> She's a good kid. >> That sounds like >> 100% believe that >> she was headed off to college. She had a really good ride. She was like a 41 to 43 GPA. She had and all AP classes she was taking in high school. She had every she just accepted the place she was going to go. I just I can't explain it. But if there's I got faith and I believe in Christ. >> Absolutely. >> And I had three Bibles that arrived today that she bought and purchased for all of us. And they come today when I me and G come back from crunch at 6:15 in the morning and she opened them. She put them in the They're the rules. >> At the hospital, Jason decided to reveal to the police that he was at his girlfriend's parents house before the accident. When he told them what happened there, the cops became even more intrigued. >> Do you remember how much you had? >> How many drinks do you think you had tonight? >> Two. >> Two. >> And And if they want to say that I drank, then yeah, it's okay. I can I can get a a charge or a whatever whatever I have to get >> test of the percentage of alcohol in your >> No, no, no. >> Oh. >> Um >> Well, okay. So, I drove home >> and I Is the person who I crashed into okay? Like, are they okay? >> I don't know yet. >> She was pretty banged up. No, I I I should I I I don't I don't care. I deserve to get I deserve to get a DIY or whatever. It's fine. >> You can you can let me get a DIY. >> What makes you say that? >> What makes me say that? I smashed into another person and hurt them. I >> Do you feel like you're drunk? >> No, I just feeling horrible. I was forced to leave because I was too drunk from her post and then yeah, I got drunk. >> Who forced you to leave? >> Well, every time it's Well, I No, I forced myself to leave. Never mind. >> Okay. >> Forced myself to leave. >> Did her parents tell you to leave? >> No. No. No. No. >> Did she tell you to leave? They weren't going to get in trouble, right? >> I'm not trying to get them in trouble. I'm just trying to figure out what happened. >> Yeah, they got They told me to leave. Yeah. >> Okay. Did they know you were driving? >> They know I was drunk. They They were the ones who got me drunk. They didn't want me to be there and they got me drunk and then Yeah. I What the am I supposed >> Yeah. What are you supposed to do if they tell you to leave your >> Yeah, I get pulled over and all this other >> Did you get pulled over? >> I I probably smashed into somebody. I >> Well, yeah, but you didn't get pulled over before that, right? >> No. >> Okay. >> It was time for the police to listen to Jason's girlfriend, and her version didn't favor him at all. Quite the opposite. >> What were you guys doing before the crash? driving and his car wouldn't start and then he started getting really like erratic and I was like, "Hey, can you not drive super aggressive because you scare me?" >> Mhm. >> And then he kept racing. He was racing this other like sedan or something. And then he just kept going and I was like I I just went to look on my phone and when I was looking at my phone that's when we crashed. So I just basically I felt like I wasn't looking up so I don't know what he >> but then we I just like the dashboard [music] forward. And >> did you lose consciousness? >> I think so. I think I blacked out for like 5 seconds and then I woke I looked up and I was halfway out of the driver's seat. So I don't really know what happened. But yeah, we were drinking. I mean what else do you want me to say? Like to be specific. I think he drank he drank more Oh my god, my neck. He drank more than me. I would say he had half a bottle as well. A 40% vodka. Boston's. >> How much did he have to drink? >> A lot. >> A lot. >> He drank like all day today. >> Did he have more than you? >> I think so. >> About how much would you say you had to have? >> I threw up a lot of it. >> He was probably at like a [music] something like almost lethal level. That's how much he drank. He just kept drinking and I told my mom to hide it. Like I gave her the bottle. I was like, "Hey, he's going crazy. Hide this. Eventually, I stole it back from her cuz I got stupid and then I drank a lot. >> Okay. What What size bottle was it? Like a hand candle one. >> Yeah, a handle. Handle >> or what time did he come over? >> Like, >> oh, like really early morning like ate one and then he made me a Korea. So, we started drinking right away. He made me we drank wine and then my mom came home and I spilled all that she had and then we drank box. So you were all day and then he kept begging me to go to Taco Bell. I was like you can't try. >> Still at the hospital the police decided to administer a breathalyzer test on Jason and the result wasn't unexpected but certainly disturbing. >> I have work tomorrow. What the >> dude? I don't know. >> No. No. >> Oh, he he shouldn't be laughing at me. Why is he laughing? >> He's laughing at you. >> All right. Deep breath and blowing in the tube. >> Hard as you can. Keep going. Keep going. Keep going. Keep going. Keep going. Keep going. Almost there. Perfect. Thank you very much. down. >> It's thinking >> 238. >> Is that like I'm >> Yeah, but I already knew that. >> All right. >> Cuz your eyes told me and your actions and speech have told me. So you have 238, which is pretty high. Nice slave. >> The test results were in and it was time to face them. Jason's mood shifted. At first, irritated, but then it started to dawn on him what had happened with the other people involved in the accident. >> Um, so I do have to place you under arrest or whatever you want. >> Can I put my like underwear on first, please? >> No, you're going to stay like just like that. She's got to form you. Okay. >> I don't care if she's going to form read me. I can I have my underwear on or no? >> No. You're at the hospital. >> The the nurses need [clears throat] you to keep them off right now for the rest of their stuff they got to do. Okay. >> So, she they can feel my Right. >> I don't think so. No doing that. >> Okay. Well, [music] there you go. I didn't I didn't anybody I I didn't kill anybody, right? >> I didn't say you did. >> I did. I didn't though. Like, I didn't I didn't anybody, right? [clears throat] Like I I'm okay. Did I Did I not anybody? >> I don't know the status of the other person right now. I don't know. [snorts] >> I think I just I I think I'm just a stupid kid. I think I should have really made >> a mistake. Yeah. Yeah. >> I get it. How many drinks? >> I'll be honest with you. I have three. >> And what uh what kind of alcohol you had three >> alcohol? They're not they're bleeding and snoring. Sir. Hey, sir. Uh, this passenger is probably pretty seriously hurt. I can't get him out. The driver is not obvious. DUI, but he says he's acting weird, but I did a quick HGN and nothing really showed. And I don't I don't smell it. I don't see any signs of it. The guy's naked from the bottom down for some reason and bleeding from the head. Passenger [music] and I got the driver just sitting in the back of my car. Multiple backup officers arrived on the scene to gain control of the critical situation. Meanwhile, one of the newly arrived officers spoke with the driver of the car. >> Hey man, officer on this camera, please body camera on. Are you okay, man? I so when uh if I'm being honest I'm telling I >> I was coming down this way. >> Yeah. >> He was I was picking up from the from his house. >> He was going to go just go cruise, you know, spend time together, but I was coming down speeding if I'm being honest. Speeding. >> And I know when I was driving down I I just didn't really see the uh that one brown light right there. So, like I accidentally slight to the right, slight right to the right and I hit it. And from there, I'm like, damn. >> With new details revealing that the driver had been speeding before swerving out of the lane and crashing directly into a tree on the right side of the car, the officer knew the chances of the driver's friend surviving were slim, and the driver seemed to realize it, too. >> I messed up on everything. >> Uh-huh. >> So, I was just speedy from here. If I tell you the truth, I was just spitty from here. Okay. the [ __ ] I just had to call my dad. I have to tell the truth. Everything I can never hide or right now. I'm scared. So I I just call my dad. >> Uhhuh. >> Tell him everything. The truth. >> That's all. >> Okay. >> That's all. I'm sorry. I was just speeding. That's the truth. >> I was just speeding from here. >> How fast are you going? >> Like if I'm be honest, I'll be like going like 60 or like above 60. >> Above 60. It's just like 65. We're out there >> just cuz in the car too deep into it. >> U just it's a total formality. We're not saying that you've committed a crime or anything like that, but just because you're sitting in the back of our police car, >> we're going to advise you of your rights just so that we can continue conversation, see what you have to say. Um but like I said, formality because you're in our car. Um we're just going to read you your rights and make sure you understand. Okay. >> I if you ever need my driver's I got my driver's license and everything. >> Okay. and we'll be able to grab all the things. >> It's it's inside the middle in the middle right here. >> Okay. You have the right to remain silent and you say it can be used against you in a court of law. You have the right at this time to talk to a lawyer and have him present with you while you're being questioned. You cannot afford to hire a lawyer. One will be appointed to represent you or questioning if you wish. >> The driver seemed to know that cooperating was one of his only chances to get through [music] this. But then came the question that would change the entire course of the investigation and challenge his earlier claims. >> How much you got to drink tonight? Uh, if I'm being honest, only like cuz I'm like a I'm not really a heavy drinker like that. But only two or three drinks the most of >> of what? >> Just like Cheetos. >> Cheetos? >> Yeah. >> Just only three. Just the three. I'm not really a heavy drinker like that. >> Shots. >> Yeah, just shots like that. I thought I would like be able to like at least drive, but man, I I blacked out and so like everything I did was it's all my fault on today and today's like a less learner. Yeah, >> man. >> Okay. Well, I appreciate you being honest. >> How long How long ago was that drinking? >> Uh, just recently, if I'm being honest, just recently, sir, right now, I'm telling you the truth cuz I'm scared everything. And for me to know like today's lesson learned, I'm never going to do that again. >> So, I'm sorry for to bother me because I died. Back at the damaged vehicle, the fire department was working to cut the trapped teen free so he could receive medical attention as quickly as possible. >> They just straight up didn't tell you there was another person in the car. >> It took a little bit. up and down. >> Unfortunately, the passenger was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver was then asked to perform field sobriety tests to determine whether alcohol had influenced his driving that night. >> Use the W line on here if that works for you. All right. >> This one. >> Yep. So, just stand exactly as you are. >> The first thing I'm going to do is going to check your eyes. Okay. So, what I want you to do is just stand with your hands at your sides and your feet together just like this. I want you to stare straight ahead. I'm going to use my finger. I want you to follow tip of my finger with just your eyes. Okay? I'm going to be moving it back and forth. Don't turn your head at all. Just your eyes only. Okay? Do you wear contacts or glasses? >> Uh, no. >> No. Okay. I'm going to use my flashlight. It's a little bit bright. So, if you need to blink, go ahead and blink. Don't feel like you need to sit there with your eyes open the whole time. Okay. One more time. Uh, so the next one I have you do is called the onelegged stand. Um, same thing. I'm going to explain and demonstrate all these exercises for you. Um, I don't want you to start anything until I tell you to. I want to make sure you have an opportunity to ask any questions, clarify anything before I want to make sure you understand everything. Okay. Come on. All right. So, time for just one second. All right, man. So, do me a favor. Stand up. So, you're going to be under arrest for do I? >> All right. I got a question. I'm just worried about the person. I I don't care about money, but I'm worried about the person in >> Yeah. >> Is he Is he fine? >> Can you do an email on him real quick >> on him? Yeah. >> Yeah. Has he already been searched? Uh, I did it first. I still need to search. >> Okay, let's do a search and then we'll face my car, man. >> Wind your stance. >> You got to wind your stance. >> Here we go. >> So, here's what's going to happen. I'm going to take you out of here. Sit on there. All right. The driver was taken to the hospital for evaluation where a blood test confirmed he had been driving under the influence. After being medically cleared, he was transported to jail. Before leaving, the officers informed him that his friend had not survived. >> Yeah. >> It's all good, man. >> It's all good. >> No, it's all my fault, bro. I can't I don't >> No. How is that so? No, that's not good, bro. How is that? So, what the what the bro? Um >> I'm sorry, man. So, uh, what is this? What is this one called? Did I >> It's not >> It's not It's not It wouldn't be charged. >> I believe I'm sorry this [crying] I'm sorry, bro. >> I think I still think you're a good dude, man. Big mistake. I am deeply sorry. >> Yeah, >> I I am. >> It would. So, the charge is vehicular homicide. Um, that is due to the fact that it stemmed from a DUI, >> right? >> I wouldn't say, right, that's not the legal term as well, right? The judge isn't going to classify as nor is the jury, right? It's It's vehicular homicide. Oh, sorry you had to find out like this from me. But I I'll let those officers know. Uh have your family contact you immediately. >> Uh his family, bro. >> I know. It's just they probably need some time to grieve, right? Um I will pass that along that you know how you're feeling and everything. And it does matter a lot, right? >> The man was charged with vehicular homicide and DUI. He was 19 years old at the time of the incident while the passenger was 18. The case is still open.
