She's doing a second return. Okay. Okay. He's trying to scan her her her digital receipt. >> Put your hands behind your back. Drop the receipts. >> Everything you said >> since the time we contacted you >> with you the whole >> has either been a lie or some kind of roundabout crap. >> Some career shoplifterss operate with the confidence of seasoned criminals, thinking they've outsmarted every system. But what happens when officers connect the dots and their empire of theft comes crashing down? >> You are lying. >> No, I'm not lying. >> Yes, you're lying. You want to give me your real name or do you want to get charged with giving an officer fake identification? It's >> quite a interesting scam you got there. >> I'm going to go get recorded statements. >> Oh my goodness. >> Get that mouth. >> This is the >> Holy Toledo. >> These were the moments career shoplifterss realized their scheme had been exposed. Starting with the moment a notorious couple linked to over 50 thefts nationwide was finally caught, revealing their deceitful schemes. >> Hold up. >> Hold up. Hold up. Do you have your ID with you? >> No, I don't. >> Okay. >> Excuse me. >> What? You have a Yes, you have a warrant. >> For what? >> Fair. Uh, I don't know. I have that thing. >> Huh? >> There's a Walmart bag in the back seat. I don't know what's in it. >> Uh, probably um like an infants electronic. >> It is not a credit card. >> That's what I'm trying to tell y'all. >> What is it considered? >> It's a fake card. >> Well, we know that. On October 29th, 2024, a store employee called police and reported shoplifterss inside the premises who had previously been linked to more than 50 thefts nationwide, totaling nearly $250,000. As soon as the couple left the premises, store officers spotted them. But they never expected the shoplifterss to make their crime even more obvious. >> Hold up. You talking? >> How you doing? Hold up. >> Hold up. Hold up. Do you have your ID with you? >> No, I don't. >> Okay, hold on. Here. What did I do wrong? >> Put your stuff up on this. Put your stuff up on this hood. >> What did I do wrong? >> Put your stuff up on the hood. >> She's got him on FaceTime. He's in a car. >> Put your stuff up on the hood. >> Hey, go over there. I think he's over there. >> That guy right there. >> Yep. That's him. He's good. >> That's him right there. >> Right there in the blue sweatshirt. Hook up some. Hold on. Hold on. Open your door. Go. Go ahead. Go. If he runs, stay in your car and I'll stay behind him. Demetrius. That's what's going on. Talk to me. I got the phone. 50 course. some out of Walmart if I didn't advise Walmart. >> This is a different >> The suspects were identified as 36-year-old Earl and 29-year-old Coley. They had used a fake debit card during their thefts, which officers quickly found in Earl's back pocket. But the surprises didn't stop there. >> So does he. >> For what? >> Glad you know. >> Huh? >> I don't know what that is. >> What do I have a war? >> I don't know. I just told you. I don't know what it is. >> Anything in your coat? You have any firearms on you? >> No. >> Okay. Come to have a seat in the back of the car. >> Car for a little bit. >> I need to grab my phone and stuff. >> You don't need it right now. Why am I being >> Cuz you're under arrest. You have a warrant. >> A warrant from where? >> I don't know. I I'll explain everything to you. Give us a minute. >> Explain everything now. >> No, cuz I don't know what the warrant is for. That's why. I'll I'll explain everything to you. >> They're both good. It might be someone else. Someone keeps trying to FaceTime her. I have it just officer. Excuse me. >> What? You have a Yes, you have a warrant >> for what? >> Fair uh I don't know. Theft, I think. >> Huh? Excuse me. >> What? >> Oh, I don't know. I haven't I haven't uh We're just trying to figure everything out. I don't know what the warrant's for. We got a warrant. >> Okay. >> A warrant for what, sir? >> I don't know. I just told you. >> Hi, Cor. What's the N for for Coley? So, you have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can be used against you law. You have a right to talk to a lawyer and have him present with you while you are questioned. If you cannot afford afford to hire a lawyer, one will be appointed to represent you before any question. If you wish, you can exercise you can decide to at any time to exercise these rights and not answer any questions or make any statements. Do you understand your rights that I've explained to you? You do you understand? Okay. During the search, Coley kept pestering the officer with questions, but nothing could have prepared them for what the store employees were about to reveal. >> Okay. So, do you guys have a case today? Is there a theft today? >> Yes. >> Yeah. >> Okay. On both or just one? >> Uh, I have to I'd have to clear it for both. All I know is what happened. We we were going up to another register. That's when someone said that they already brought these up there. >> Okay. and that they had claimed that it was a cash card to cash it as cash >> and that it would take it off of his debit card. >> And the debit card is what? >> It's nothing. There's no such thing as a card that does that. >> There's there's no such thing as >> I tried to say this was him and we thought we didn't have the right guy, but he >> he has a mask on. I've never seen him without his mask. >> Right. But this is not him. >> He's always wearing that. >> It's similar, but it's not him. It looks like him, but he's got a tattoo here. So, we ran him through Michigan. The original Demetrius Earl. It's him. >> Demetrius Earl. That is nice. >> And Ariana Cole, >> so they both do have warrants. Um, so they're going for that. This is just a fake. Um, but we're >> regardless, >> the car over there has no plates on it at all. Comes back to her, though. We were in the VIN. There's a Walmart bag in the back seat. I don't know what's in it. >> Uh, probably um like in infants electronics like baby monitors, uh, electronic breast pumps. >> So, they got out the door with them. He did. >> Yes, he did. He he purchased those at uh 504 at register 23. Told the cashier told the cashier that it's a cash card for 1608. Got $40 back in cash. Just no cash was given to him or to the cashier. >> This was just him doing this part though, right? >> That few seconds I saw at the register to get this time stamp was just him at the register. >> Okay. But it's usually he pays for it, does the scam, she'll go to it'll go to another Walmart. She brings it in with the receipt and says, "I don't want this anymore. I want my refund and we'll get that in case." >> So I I'm I'm still not tracking cuz I'm still here. So the debit card you use is fake. And how do you know that? >> I mean, he they never swipe it. >> They pretend to swipe it. >> Okay. >> They they don't charge you your card unless we hit credit. >> So how did he get out the door with the stuff in a receipt? Because the C he tells the cashier to cash him out as cash and then he gets a receipt. >> Yeah. >> Cashier fell for a scan. >> Yeah. It's we call it a cash card scan. This card is is just as good as cash. >> Does he still have the card? >> As far as I know. We don't take it. >> Okay. >> They can they can >> and I'd have to look at video again to tell you which card he used. >> Said my phone this way. >> And when we were on the phone and she was walking up, she had more merchandise that I assume she was going to attempt. >> Yeah. It was almost the exact same stuff. Yeah, she walked out with nothing. >> Yeah, when they came up to the door to the corner here, she ran out the door. The cat and the >> Did you see what the card looked like the doll that he tried? >> I have to go back and look at it. >> It's still up on the on the screen. >> Take a picture of it. So, >> yeah, >> but they'll convince the cashier. >> Employees reported that the other items bought fraudulently had been returned for cash. Earl had used a fake debit card to purchase $1,477 in baby items. And a sealed laptop Coley carried around the store was traced to another Walmart theft. But even that was just the beginning of what officers uncovered. >> So, we're going to have another case on him. Um, >> there. >> Yeah. He uh like $1,600 worth that stuff in that car. He used a fake debit card to scam the cashier into selling him breast pumps and other things like that. So, he's got that on himself. They don't know exactly which one it is yet. They're going to go inside and look, try to get a better look at what the card looks like cuz he's got all that property on him. So, one of those cards he has on him, he used to um scam the cashier into using it. >> Cashing him out, give him a receipt, but it was never purchased. >> We never received cash. >> Uh I I think so. >> Yeah. Yeah. So, um Yeah. Don't take him just yet. Let's figure out what cards he has on him cuz we might take one. >> They were they were going to >> hers is through us. I don't know if if his is through us or not. >> He said it was. I didn't look at them. Obviously, I didn't have time, but I knew one of them were had the same issues and they were also firing filing a charge. >> Sign as a witness, please. That was all,000. >> 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 >> Can I see your phone? >> Yeah. >> I need a >> good work and everything. >> Your calculator. >> More ice cream. I got the ice cream. >> 10 logs out. 052 3 4 5 6 7 >> 20 40 60 >> breast pump. [Music] PayPal cards. That's what he got at Circle K. He was loading PayPal cards. >> Okay, let's stop. >> Let's stop and we'll just do I I like that option better. >> Just take it to the yard. >> Yeah. [Music] But there's more going on here. >> Ariana, >> what's going on? >> Like what? >> I'm just curious. >> And it's not a credit card. >> Where does it say press cash? >> It is not a credit card. >> That's what I'm trying to tell y'all. >> What is it considered? >> It's a fake card. >> Well, we know that. Yeah, >> you've been using it forever. We know about all the gas station stuff. We We know you guys very well. Tiffen Ftori, >> all the police departments know about you guys. Yeah, >> he's been doing this at the gas stations for a while. >> We know. >> I wasn't. >> I I know. I'm seeing him. I'm seeing him. We know him. You're just with him. Well, unfortunately, >> Earl was arrested for theft and faced warrants from two previous incidents, while Coley was arrested for complicity to theft and had a prior warrant as well. Both were later taken to jail. Moving on to a couple at Walmart that ran an elaborate scam, unaware that an investigator was waiting outside ready to bust them. >> No, you're staying right here. >> Why you calling me? >> No, you're staying right there. >> Hey, I beg you. >> Yeah, it's fake. It can just go in the garbage. It's fake. They're part of a huge uh theft ring and um you should see the data that Walmart has on I mean, they're hitting y'all's Walmart, too. Millions of dollars. They're they're Romanian um gang or whatever. >> On October 31st, 2024, a Walmart officer responded to a store where a couple was allegedly trying to pull off a scam at the electronics counter. The male distracted the employees while the female carried out the sketchy scam. As the officer arrived, the male left first, and as the female tried to get to his car, the officer stopped her. However, the male suspect sped away before the plate could be seen. >> Nice how he just left you, >> huh? >> Yeah. Yeah. I wonder why he'd do something like that. >> I don't know. >> Yeah, that's something. He lets you take the fall for the crime. Huh? >> Sorry. >> He let you take the fall for the crime. He's not willing to get caught. He just let you get caught. >> But please, can you tell me what I do? >> Yeah, we'll get to that in a minute. >> Why I'm from You put this one on my hand. We'll get to that in a minute because you're being detained right now. Please give me papa. Ouch. All right. So, have a seat. You're being detained right now. We're investigating a crime and we believe that you and your husband are that your partner just committed. Okay. >> Yeah. So, you're not free to go. >> Please, can I go to the toilet? >> Please, I beg you. >> You're stay No, you're staying right here. >> No, you come with me. >> No, you're staying right here. >> Please, I beg you. >> 98 354. [Music] >> Please, mister. You covered me cuz I don't know what to tell you. >> You put me on um suspicious searchs. I have one detained on code at the moment. You have your ID on you. You care if I open and get your ID? >> I give you my ID. >> I can get Okay. Is it in here? >> I give you the ID. Please can you open my >> Just tell me where it is. I'll get it if you tell me where it is. That's one in my bag. >> Right here. This one? >> Yeah. No, this one >> back here. >> Yeah, this one. >> Is it in here? Okay. >> This the New York. New York. >> Georgia. >> New York. >> New York. Okay. >> Can I put my this one back? >> N 354 with a name out of New York. Is this real? >> Sorry. Walmart's loss prevention team was very familiar with the woman, having linked her to 45 incidents at stores across the United States. She was known to use numerous aliases, and this time was no exception. All right. So, what's your real name? >> Jessica. >> Jessica? >> I'm not your name. >> Okay. You know, lying to the police is a crime. >> I'm not lying. >> Yes, you are lying because there's no record on that name. You are lying. >> No, I'm not lying. >> Yes, you're lying. You want to give me your real name or do you want to get charged with giving an officer fake identification information? This one is my name. >> It's not your name. >> It's my name. I swear it's my name. >> Do you have another uh ID in there? >> Um, can you work on building PC for the >> the money switch? >> We're going to need a female. Please not go to the restroom. Please come with me. >> Nope. >> Please, I beg you. >> No. >> She needs to use the bathroom. >> She's not going. >> Please. >> Nope. She's not going. You can wet your pants. I don't care. Um >> Denise, I'm swapping out with you. >> So, here's what's going to happen. You can either give me your correct name right now or I'm going to get you fingerprinted. I'm going to get you fingerprinted and then when your real name comes up, you're going to be charged with the crime for lying to the police. Okay? So, you have one more chance. I don't have another name. >> No. All right. >> After she refused to give her real name, officers requested an API, automated fingerprint identification system check. For now, she was only detained. But the officers needed to gather enough evidence for a strong arrest before time ran out. >> So, this is fake. >> Yeah, it's fake. It can just go in the garbage. It's fake. Y >> it's fake. >> Hey, John, if you have any um with the former incidents, if you have any like uh evidence there that this is an accomplice then we can go that route also. >> Okay. I have something >> and we can add that one from a couple months ago. >> Okay. >> Okay. What do you have? >> 31.9937 is what we're short right here. Cash long short. >> Okay. >> So basically 3200 probably. >> All right. Hey John. So, okay. Like $3,200. Short 3,2. >> Yes. Then Okay. So, how how are you going to put this together with her to us? >> We're going to have to get the video of her handing them cash who she handed it to. And he was he was there from part of this the beginning of him and Cole. You might have to talk to all three of them >> cuz they were kind of all she wanted so much stuff. There's still more stuff up there that didn't get on the ground. some coil it all together and get it where I can build this because if we arrest her tonight, this is a felony charge. We have 72 hours for our detectives to be able to run this case. Okay. >> And and and push the charges through. >> So if when when she goes to jail, it starts the clock ticking. >> That's why it needs to be fairly solid when I leave here with her. >> Okay. I do everything I can. >> Yep. So yeah, go ahead. >> So I'm going to go get the rest of the stuff. So, right now it looks like you stole $3,200, something like that. So, um that's what we're working through. Okay. Just to update you on what we're looking at. So, um here's the detainy, the ID state. I can't even get a name on her yet, but they're coming. But I'm still working through PC with y'all. >> So, you're from New York? >> Yes. >> When did you come to Washington? So, >> when did you get to Washington? >> Two or three days. >> Hm. >> Two to three days. >> Two to three days. How'd you get here? >> Car. >> Car. You drove from New York. >> Yeah. >> In your own personal car. >> Someone drove you from New York. >> Yes. >> What brings you to Washington? >> Really? >> What brings you to Washington State? >> Hm. >> Music. So, I think I'm sure he's already explained to you. Um, he's not pulling up anything on that driver's license. >> What? >> We're not getting that, you know, that return for your driver's license. It's not showing like it's a real license. >> It's weird. >> It's real cuz I'm also from New York and um I left New York I guess after that was issued. My driver's license from New York looked nothing like that. [Music] Hm. >> I thought it made. >> Where'd you get it from? [Music] >> I make school right from Energiz. >> Well, where did you get it from? >> The woman clearly had no answer for that because she was tangled right in the middle of her elaborate schemes. Meanwhile, one officer questioned the employee to get more information about the scam and the details left him speechless. Hey, so I'm going to talk to you about the switch to just tell me what you saw um when they came from the beginning to the end. What you saw happen? >> It was just normal. Like it was kind of weird cuz she kept asking for like at first she started with watches and then she started like asking for like the GoPro like headphones and like all this stuff. >> Yeah. >> And then the husband was asking for like VSA and like I think other stuff. >> Mhm. And so eventually when he was checking the lady out, she ended up not wanting some stuff and then they were counting the money um she took it back and then that's when I saw her like slip her finger like the pills. >> Okay. >> And then um she kept like eyeing me cuz she saw me like standing behind right there and she kept eyeing me. That's why it kind of like look suspicious. >> Mhm. Okay. So, had she already paid for the items she had? How did how did that work before the switch? >> Before that um check out that you you saw um she had checked out that stuff before and that's when I went to go look for her. >> Okay. And then when did you at what point did you see the switch her do the switch? >> I didn't see her take the money. I just saw her finger like divide because um Isaiah stood up in front of her. So, I didn't seem to like stuff anything. I just thought saw like it was weird that she >> Okay. >> So, as when Isaiah was between you and her, you thought >> I didn't. Yeah. >> Yeah. Okay. >> All right. I'll I'll talk to you more in a little. >> The officer then turned to yet another employee with a similar story. >> What's going on, Jessica? >> Hm. >> I don't know. >> You don't know? >> Oh, it takes it takes like 5 10 minutes. So he has to like plug it in. Okay. So >> this Isaiah, he's the one that actually took the money. >> Okay. >> Was behind him and she's the one that saw the switch. >> Mhm. >> So >> tell me what happened as far from your perspective. >> Uh I was walking to the bathroom and she asked she asked me where the >> You can talk louder. >> She asked me where the electronics was at. >> Yeah. >> I told her it was uh across. So I went to the bathroom and I came back and she was still there. And then Cole was talking to her at first and then she asked me like if we had a tablet and some watches and stuff. So I grabbed them and I have >> a tablet and what? >> Some watches and go and the GoPros. >> Okay. Apple watches. >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> And you grabbed those for her? How many? >> Two Apple watches, two tablets, and then it was like three pairs of headphones. >> Okay. You gave those to her. What happened? Uh, I set them down below the counter and then I rung them up and then she gave me the money or she counted the money uh 1,000 at first and I counted it back and I let it down on the table. Then she did it two more times for 3,000 and then she gave me another 300 after that and I put them in the in the machine to check. So, it looks like she bought like $3,300 worth of stuff. She counted a,000 out. This dude in here counted a,000 back three different times. Then she hands him 300 to cover the rest of them. When she when he when she has 3,300 laying there, he turns and puts four or five of them in the money tester. Then he puts him in the tail. >> So, we think it was when he turned that she took 3,000 back, >> but that's what we got to confirm. If not, then I think we got to let her go. >> His >> nothing fingerprint. I don't know if she's ever fingerprinted before or what, but it should be the entire US. So, >> I got nothing. Her fingerprints didn't match any records nationwide, and solid proof of a crime was still missing until the officers reviewed the transaction footage where they finally hit the jackpot. >> Oh, you don't even looking at this. >> You're not even looking. She took all of it back. >> Okay, >> there you go. >> All right, we got hard evidence. >> She took it back. >> Yep. >> Okay, so you're under arrest for uh and it's going to be a felony charge for stealing around $3,000. We're going to get the exact number. You're under arrest. Okay, stand up. I'm going to unhook her and take this off. >> All right, perfect. >> You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can be used against you in a court of law. You have the right at this time to talk to a lawyer and have him present with you while you're being questioned. If you cannot afford to hire a lawyer, one will be appointed to represent you before questioning if you wish. You can decide at any time to exercise these rights and not answer any questions or make any statements. So, you're under arrest for $3,000, give or take. We'll get it the exact number figured out, but um that's what's going on. Do you understand your rights that I read to you? >> Yes or no? >> Huh? >> Okay. So, still waiting for three more fingerprints to come back, but so far like the 10 I took just now, nothing. I did a little digging on links just cuz I'm curious. Um, she was cited back in May in Urban, California or something like that for doing the same thing and it mentions in the very vague report that her New York ID is fraudulent with the same ID numbers that you guys ran. So, she has a physical lobby. >> It sounds like it's fraudulent, but I don't see anything about like what her actual name is. >> Okay. >> So, Apparently, she's done this before. This was back in May of this year. >> They're part of a huge uh theft ring and um you should see the data that Walmart has on them. I mean, they're hitting y'all's Walmart, too. They're hitting every Walmart pretty much, but all over the US it's like millions of dollars. They're they're Romanian um gang or whatever. Not gang, but they're they're basically the modern Romanian um anyway, but they're they're all Yeah. mafia type stuff and they're all like family >> and it's not just in Washington, it's around the US. >> It's the whole US. >> Holy [ __ ] Yeah, I saw the Burbank one sent something about like iPads and phones and >> Yeah, it's always electronics and it's always cash. >> The scale and audacity of this gang's crimes stunned every officer, but nothing prepared them for what they found during the subsequent search of the woman's purse. >> Well, when you can make one, you can make a bunch. >> You know, I'm surprised we haven't found a casino card in there. Emerald Queen or >> Yeah, >> it's a pretty good scam. You know, make it appear as though you're going to >> Yep. >> pay legitimately. >> Yep. >> Two phones. Yeah, they got it going on. >> Receipts. >> So, all this I'm going to take for evidence. >> Oh, there's another one got hit. >> Fred Meyer. >> What's up? Am I on that one? >> This is a 30002. >> Oh, no [ __ ] Oh yeah. Ah >> goodness. >> That's a good uh piece of evidence right there. >> Yep. >> Probably keeps trying to call her. Some coins. >> You You could actually go organize retail stuff just based on what we got so far. >> I want to do that. >> Yeah. >> 100%. >> 98 56 360. >> Okay. Okay. >> Let me see that. Georgia. >> See, that's a different name. >> Yeah. Francancy Amira. >> This look like her. >> Francancy. Yeah. >> Let me take a look at you real quick. Look this way. >> I can't. >> Why? >> Cuz this guy. >> Cuz of what? >> The lights will keep me in eyes. >> Definitely. >> Oh yeah. Wow. You got quite a repertoire of names here. What's your real name? >> Jessica. >> Last name. >> Where do you live at? >> New York. >> H >> New York. >> New York. So you're just here for what? Vacation. >> Sorry. I'm coming here. Visiting. >> You got to speak up. I can't hear you. >> I'm coming visiting the Seattle. Visiting. Visiting. >> Visiting. >> Yes. >> It's quite a interesting scam you got there. >> I'm going to go get recording statements. >> Scam. H >> I'm not doing scam. >> Not doing a scam. >> No. >> No. Put $3,000 on the table and then >> take them all take them all away >> and then you take all the merchandise. They didn't even pay for it. >> All the stuff. >> You only paid 300 bucks. >> The video shows that. >> I want to see the video. >> You'll get to see it in court. >> Okay. >> You You got a similar receipt for Fred Meyer in your purse for $3,000. >> Yes. So, this seems to be uh some kind of a pattern for you. >> I'm not doing nothing. >> So, you're saying that you didn't put $3,000 on the >> I money >> and when the person turned around, you took all the money back except for 300 bucks. >> The woman, who still could not be identified, tried to show attitude, but the officers knew her tactics too well to be fooled. >> So, what did she do exactly? >> They're scanning all the items. >> Okay. So, what they do is they scan all the items. She just got hit like last week, was it? Or the week before. >> Same person. >> They're a group. There's 40 of them. >> Really? >> They're from Romania. >> Yeah, they do. >> And what they they scan all they got her laptops, >> but they scan all these headphones are 430 bucks a piece. >> Oh, jeez. >> These ones are 350. >> How did she get them out of the lock case? >> They just asking. Oh. >> So, what they do, they pay cash for it. >> Yeah. >> And you'll see she puts up all the cash in three separate stacks, >> but they target new associates. >> Mhm. >> And young ones. >> And then as the associates count the cash, they'll take it back and then they do a little hand it back to them. And the cashier doesn't count it back. Basically last last two weeks ago the total was 3,600 bucks and only paid 1,900 bucks. >> Ah they do pay cash but it's not all the cash. >> All the cash. I see >> that's why she puts it in different stacks. >> Yes. >> Ah >> because he counted the first stack. >> Yeah. >> Okay. on. >> So he's counting it and he's fake checking them. >> He only checks three of them. >> Okay. And he assumes the rest are okay. >> Yes. >> Okay. So he takes the second. >> Ah >> why didn't he put it in the register? >> That's what he should have at least put out of a reach. >> Right. >> That right there. He did well with the merchandise. He stuck it down there. >> Yeah. Yeah. >> Boom. >> You're like got it ready as soon as you know. It's kind of like gamble when you count one of them. She's got that much money. It must be real. [Music] >> Third, fourth. >> So, this is what they need to take it all back. >> Mhm. >> Why is he not saying anything at this point? >> They need to be turned off. I don't know. >> Okay, so she has all the cash now. >> The video clearly showed her picking up money, using the switch to keep some, and giving the rest to the cashier. Just when the officer thought he had seen enough, the employee revealed something even more shocking. >> Right here. >> Oh my goodness. >> Look at that. >> This is the all the places that >> Holy Toled. >> Let me take a photo down. >> I can go a little bit down if you want. I'm out. >> $800,000 >> and all the faces they hit. >> There's got to be one. I don't know. >> There's got to be. >> One of them got caught. Cost got caught like two weeks ago. He's over. >> Oh, what's the name you said? >> Cost Montel. >> So, that kind of sounds like the name the other officer said her her real name was or something like that. >> Something like that. Like some weird. >> Well, she's getting votes, so they'll figure out who she is. She was booked and charged with secondderee theft. Her scams totaled $140,000 and she remains in Walmart's Ara database as part of an organized retail theft ring. Speaking of schemes being exposed, these two women in Florida thought they'd pulled off the perfect theft until a group of nononsense cops showed up. >> Match the description of a female that we're looking for right now. Why you out of breath? What's going on? >> Got my receipt and everything. >> Okay. All right. >> And her breasts were suddenly huge because she stuffed all the product down her shirt. Card decline cancelled. Card decline cancelled. So, they're using they're using stolen credit cards. Look at all these different cards that are declined. On March 23rd, 2024 in Florida, officers responded to a shoplifting call from Carters, where two suspicious women had entered the store. While one stashed merchandise, the other tried to distract employees with small talk, but when confronted, the women put on such a convincing act that even the officers were left second guessing. >> Hello. >> How you doing? >> How you doing? Officer Morales. Okay. Um, basically want to talk to you about something. You match the description of a female that we're looking for right now. Why you out of breath? What's going on? >> Oh, no. I was on the phone. I just got wet. >> Okay. >> You match what? >> You match the description of a female we're looking for. You mind if I get your ID? >> Yeah. >> I match the description. >> Did you uh go off Carters at all? >> Did we do what? >> Did you go to Cartis? >> I had Patrick on there. So, you brought something for me? >> What did you get? >> I got my receipt and everything. >> Okay. All right. We'll just get your ID and then we'll >> back in the description. >> We'll confirm if it's you or not. All right. >> All right. So, she do got a Carter's bag. So, she's brought out my receipts and everything. >> So, just ask them. >> Copy. I'll be on. >> So, what? >> Oh, she got a Carter's bag. Beautiful. >> Okay, we're going to figure it out. >> I called you guys as she was running the corner and her breasts were suddenly huge because she stuffed all the product down her shirt >> um and into her purse. >> About how much did you think they took? >> Probably like $1,000. >> $1,000? Wow. >> You can ride and itemize her seat. >> We're out with one of the females. Um she does have a Carter's bag, but we'll be at the Nike store. >> Everything. What? What did she say about Carter? What was supposed to be said about Carter? >> You were impressed by Jennifer. >> All right. They're at the Nike store. At least one of them. Are you able to walk over there and ID them? >> Uh, ma'am, can you just step out the car for me, please? >> Okay. Let me see your bag. >> Not under arrest. All right. You just tend right now. All right. Well, I ain't doing that. So, I know ain't under your phone over there. >> Okay. Well, right now you're just going to be detained. Okay. So, I have to place you in cuffs. >> I'm being detained though. >> You're not under arrest. Like we said, you match description of somebody that stole items from Carters. Okay. You have a fight and once they come over here where they saying it is or not you, then we'll talk to you on that. Right. >> Oh, that's still not all my stuff right there. >> That's why I said like once they confirm it is or not you, if it's not you, then we'll let you go. If it is you, then we'll have a talk about that, right? We'll head back there and look at cameras. You guys got cameras, right? >> Yes, we do. >> At first, it looked like the officers had the wrong woman. Her shocked reaction almost sold it. But then another officer returned with evidence that told a very different story. >> I'm just going to read you something, too. Okay? Cuz you are entitled to your rights. You're not under arrest. You're just detained, but I have to read you your rights. Okay? You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say may use as evidence against you. You have the right to talk to your attorney. I have him heard with you now anytime during question. If you cannot afford an attorney, won't be a partner to represent you. If at any time you wish to stop talking, I have an attorney present. All questions will be stopped at your request. Do you understand your rights? >> Yes. >> With these rights in mind, you want to talk to me or any one of my partners that come on scene and ask you questions. >> Okay. >> Yes. >> I want to talk to you and your partners cuz I'm trying to figure out what I supposed to figure out, too. Um, apparently we just got a call about, you know, two uh two females matching the description you're wearing. Um, my partner saw you go inside the vehicle. Um, and that's pretty much it. Um, someone just stealing from Carter's. You have a C right there. >> Okay. But you have a Carter's bag. Okay. And you know, we have to make sure that everything's accounted for in that bag. >> Okay. >> But, um, that's what we're here for. >> And it's just kind of a little suspicious that you're you're not even in the driver's seat. You're in the passenger seat. So, where's your friend? >> Where's who? >> Where's the driver? >> My sister. >> Yeah. I'm waiting on her. She she in one of these car. I don't know. She >> know. Wish we can grab two of them. You know, one is better than none, right? >> You want me to put your phone in your pocket so you don't >> How long it's going to take to get over here? >> Who? >> Who you waiting on? >> I'm waiting on my partner to receive. >> Basically, they go bring somebody over here. All right. Say whether it is you or whether whether it's not you. Like I told you, if it's not you, then we let you go. If it is you, then we have a conversation. See what they want to do. Right. >> Sister was walking somewhere. She doesn't know where. >> She was out here with my baby daddy. That's what I'm saying. I don't know if she left with him. I have to call her. >> Gotcha. Is this your car? >> No. >> Where's the car you came in? >> This the car I came in, but it's not my car. >> She was sitting inside. >> Okay. Where's your sister? >> Stuff right there that I got. All my stuff is right there with my receipt. So, she said, >> "Where's your sister at?" >> I don't know. She might have went with her baby daddy. She was out here. >> You want to call her? >> I Y'all going to take this off? >> Yeah. You want to call her? >> Yeah, I'll call her. >> Okay. >> Let's call her. >> I'm not taking off the gloves. >> You want me to call her with the cops on? >> You just had your phone in your hand with the cops on? >> I know, but it's uncomfortable. >> You're just being right now. >> Probably texting me to come. >> Okay. >> As the officers waited for the woman to get in touch with her sister, she tried to spin a new plan to avoid arrest, but it backfired in the worst way. Did you leave with Burke or you still here? >> She gone. >> Okay, perfect. We'll do a warrant for her and then >> you're going to be taking a ride, too. You can hang up the phone. >> Taking a ride for what? I didn't steal anything. >> I I have my stuff right here. I didn't steal anything. >> If we recover the items, >> uh >> those are the those are the items that apparently she paid for. >> Right. So, you trying to take me to jail and I didn't take anything? >> Well, they have you on camera. >> I didn't take anything. >> But it says otherwise you did. >> Where is it at on camera? Tell her to show me. >> They looked at it already. >> They already looked at >> That's why they called us. They gave a description. They provide a description. Your sister and stuff like that. >> I mean, you taking a ride. She's not. She said she ain't here. She just have a warn out for arrest. >> You're saying you paid for these? >> Yes. >> Is there a receipt in here for these? Okay. >> You guys yet or no? >> Yep. She wanted to talk. >> Yeah, she talked. She said basically uh she went in there to buy some stuff. She didn't see nothing. All that stuff is on the receipt except that's in the bag. >> Okay. >> I thought you said y'all was going to get her to identify me so I could show her that I didn't take anything. >> You did. She identified it. You put the flashlight in your face. She identified you. Except this is a receipt from Sanford, [ __ ] >> That's what I'm saying. All my stuff is paid for. When I went in there, I was exchanging. She held my stuff at the counter literally for me. >> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. >> She held my stuff at the counter. So, what I'm thinking, you held my stuff at the counter. That's the same bag I had. >> What car is y'all's? >> That's the same. That's not my car. >> Is this the car you guys came in? >> No. >> She's chilling in. She just chilling. >> She was driving when I got >> It's her car. So, is there anything in the car? >> No. >> You got the keys for the car? >> No. >> Can we search the car? >> No. >> Well, it's not her car. >> It's not lines and I'm not giving no authority to search nobody's car. >> Well, it's not your car, so you can't get that authority anywhere. >> This is the girl that So, the one lady came in, brought it to the counter, she went behind and already took some baby girl items, left the store, and came back again. >> Okay. If you take me, go ahead and take me. I ain't got time for all. Go ahead and do what y'all going to do. She saying this and that. I know I'm going to beat it cuz I didn't steal nothing out of there. So, >> uh, we'll have security come over and tow it and uh, we'll just have to do the inventory prior to towing. >> Do what you got to do. >> You want to search? >> She saying she told me, sir. She lying. She didn't see me steal nothing. Let me see my phone. >> No, it's okay. >> No, hang it up cuz it's calling somebody. I didn't try to call nobody. You can hang up. It's calling somebody. Could you hang it up? I don't know who's on the phone. >> I don't know who's on my phone. Hang it up. >> We'll do it in a second. >> Let's go over here. So, >> somebody sitting on my phone. I don't know who that is. >> Okay, come on. >> Let's go over here. I got stuff in my back seat, so I can't put it right there. >> Go right here to this car. >> Her lies piled up so fast she couldn't even keep track, digging herself into a hole she couldn't climb out of. That's when officer searched the car and uncovered something undeniable. I've been very naive and generous and all that and I feel like robbing it like like let me at least let somebody know what's going on right now. >> We do. >> No, I'm saying let me call somebody, let them know what's going on. >> We have to search you, okay, before you go in. >> Okay. >> Okay. When we get to the our police department, the officers over there, I'm pretty sure they'll let you call somebody >> or give you a number as to where you can call. >> Look, can I call her? >> She needs to do our job now. We have to do our job. She claimed that she had to do a exchange because she had twin baby boys that were a year old. >> Yeah, but look at this. Card declined. Cancelled. Card declined. Cancelled. So, they're using they're using stolen credit cards. Look at all these different cards that are declined. >> Perfect. >> Cancelled. Cancelled. Cancelled. >> Declined. Declined. We'll see if it's on her property now. and on video is gonna sell her stuff and all the stuff in her. This is a no sale. Every single transaction on here is compliant. >> Hey, you want to go see the video? You want >> watch? I I'll go in there real quick if he can just Does he have her in the car? >> Yeah. >> Get her out there. >> All All those transactions are declined transactions. >> Where is that my phone right here? >> Huh? Is that my phone right here? >> I Okay, we'll pull it wash your feet. >> There's another big bag up here. >> Cool. So, we need itemized receipts for that. >> They're uh >> Is this all yours? Oshkov. >> I don't know. >> Yeah. >> The other suspect driving license. You >> want me to run it? Yes. This is all >> This is all Carter's. want to grab one. >> This one's heavy as hell. >> That's our stuff, too. >> Yeah. This has all tarters. >> I dropped one. It's going to have a felony hold on it. >> Huh? >> It's going to have a felony hold on it. >> Why would it have a felony hold on it? >> Because I'm putting a felony hold on it. >> Why are you putting a felony hold on it? >> Because they're using this to commit a massive amount of retail theft and fraud. >> For Vina just dropped me from the jail. They let her use her phone, so I can't get >> Gotcha. Well, regardless, the other girl was nice enough to leave her wallet and ID and everything. >> Were you at the window? >> Oh, what? How can we help you? >> What kind of property? >> My wallet and my phone. >> We're just going to step through these doors here. If you wouldn't mind just putting your phone on the counter here and just go ahead and put your hands behind your back. >> 3 days later, the woman turned herself in. She was charged with grand theft for the Carter's incident and petite theft for Old Navy. She entered a pre-trial diversion program and was ordered to attend anti- theft classes while the second suspect pleaded nolo contender and was placed on 18 months probation. Up next, a woman caught red-handed at Target tried to spin lies, unaware that her schemes were about to unravel fast. [Applause] >> Do you see? I don't steal. have on the tax $3,000. >> What's the problem? >> You're under arrest for retail. >> Why? And I didn't take nothing. I didn't leave out the door. That's what I'm saying. I have money to buy. I was about to steal nothing. >> On March 9th, 2025, officers were dispatched to Target after reports of an active shoplifting incident. But the moment they arrived, they were met with some of the loudest ladies who refused to take any accountability. 341 ambulance for >> PD but like I said like you guys are in trouble like you guys might just get a slap on the wrist or a ticket but you guys are not going to be arrested right outside it was alerted to them other than that they're just going to get your information and that's it and then you guys will be good to go but other than that like like I said you guys going to be arrested I can take care of me so they were caught basically shoving like a bunch of like clothing in a bag that they took from a bus and then they try to walk out. All right. [Applause] >> No, we didn't walk out. >> So, basically, one of the times I can't hear cuz you're both yelling. So, go let me let me her side of the story. >> So, basically, I was looking for my cousin. My cousin walked out from me. >> And is this your cousin? >> Yes. My phone is dead. She has the money up on her Apple Pay. So, I'm looking for her around the store. I see her downstairs right there by the escalator. I'm telling her to come pay for the stuff. I'm walking down. They say, "Come here." I come here. I'm applying with you guys. I say, they say, "Yeah, you can't just walk past the thing. It's a policy where you just can't walk past the thing." I tell them, "I was looking for my cousin. My phone is dead. I'm trying to pay for my merchandise." They say, "Well, we have a policy where you can't walk past the thing." I said, "Well, I'm sorry. I didn't know that. I didn't leave out the door. I'm applying with you guys. You guys are telling me come back because I didn't, you know, I can't walk past." >> You're applying for a job. No, I'm saying I'm applying like and playing and playing with you guys. So, I turn back around, do what they say. I tell them, "Can I pay for my stuff?" Cuz I'm not trying to leave out the door. I was looking for my cousin. My phone is clearly dead. She has my money up on her applic. Do you see? I don't steal. I have on a $3,000 purse. I don't steal. This is my favorite target. Like that's what I'm trying to explain to them. >> Before the employee could even get a word out, the women exploded, yelling, spinning their own story, and even flashing their pricey bag as proof they hadn't stolen. And despite being caught red-handed, the lies just kept piling up. >> He just sat up here and listened to our whole story. We y'all came in. It was a whole completely different story. >> I was just trying to make it a quick story. >> No, that's not a story. You literally just split everything and just what you wanted to say. But on my end, when I was walking, >> I have money to pay for all. I lost my mailbox. So, >> nobody tried to walk out nothing. But I have the app on my phone to pay for everything. You get what I'm saying? But I ended up walking off because I realized that my key wasn't on my thing. I've been looking for it and I realized that it failed. So, I was down there looking for my key, but I have to pay for the things because >> by the carts. >> Yeah. Downstairs. >> Okay. >> Yeah. So, her phone is there. I have everything on my phone to pay for it. I just asked them, but she was looking for me. She couldn't call me. She couldn't do anything. I walked out. They acted like I walked towards the door. I didn't even walk towards the door. >> So, just so you I'm just going to explain to you how the law works and what the problem. So, anytime you walk past the last point of purchase, which is all upstairs and come downstairs, you technically have committed a theft, right? >> She never walked downstairs. >> She turned me around. She walked downstairs. >> They turned me around basically saying you can't pass this because that's basically stealing. I said, "Oh, I'm sorry. I was just looking for my cousin so she could pay for my stuff. It was not like I wasn't implying or anything like I see if I was implying boosters they run out of stores. >> I'm not no booster. I don't steal. I don't have no reason to steal. Two people in the basement. >> You're still recording. No, actually we just came this morning. >> It's okay. But my aunt always told me like my aunt always raised us to have our own bed when we go shopping. You get what I'm saying? You know, that's that's how we shop. So, I don't know if they taking it as otherwise or whatever. But I'm still trying. The officer quickly realized that letting the women rant about their money and cook up new stories on the spot was going nowhere. So instead, they turned to the surveillance footage, something that would expose the truth within seconds. The surveillance footage showed the woman walking with her cousin, ready to leave with the merchandise. She even glanced around to check if anyone was watching, unaware that loss prevention had been tracking her the whole time and stopped her as soon as she reached the exit. >> What's your first name? >> My first name? >> Queen. >> Queen. Mhm. >> Is it your government name? >> No, it's Queen. >> Queen. >> I think they were sent up first off. >> What's the problem? >> You're under arrest for retail theft. >> Why? And I didn't take nothing. I didn't leave out the door. >> Like I'm able to pay for my stuff. That's what I'm telling them. Like I never >> pass the last point purchase. Okay. >> Stay up. >> But sir, I didn't leave out the door. >> I was looking for my cousin. went past the last point. >> But I didn't know that. I didn't like I didn't know that that was something like you have to leave physically leave out the door. >> I didn't know. >> No, I'm like, it's no bigger than I can talk to the manager because I literally didn't know like I didn't know that I was going to get in trouble for looking for my cousin. Like I wasn't trying to steal. I literally was not. >> We were together kind of right before you left. You know where she >> We was together the whole time. But she walked off. >> I like I said, I walked off because I was looking for >> because Okay. Well, we're not arguing on that. >> Oh, >> so it's no possible way that I can pay for these things like >> because I didn't feel them. I wasn't trying to steal these things. by you committed ass. >> So like what what is this process? Because I never been process in a couple years. >> So I will be getting out today. >> Yeah. >> You're fine. You didn't take anything. >> I'm not fine. >> No, I didn't take anything. That's what I'm saying. I didn't take anything. So do you have a car here? >> Yes. I'll give you the information at the >> We'll be back up here. >> Could you give them my fine >> first? Go see you. >> Why? >> Cuz it's your purse. Just want to stay with you. >> After reviewing the footage, officers had little doubt that the women were stealing and moved to arrest the suspect identified as Queen. But she slipped into full Karen mode, not realizing she was only stacking up more charges. >> There's no way that she could just get my purse. >> Well, it's your property, so >> I know, but I want her to keep my property. I want her to keep my privacy and my phone. It's >> going to stay with you. >> I don't want to process my things. >> Once you get out, you literally get your first. >> I know, but I don't want to process my things. I want to give my things to my cousin going. Can I just check if there's anything in there and then just give >> anything? What >> I said, dude, can y'all just like cuz I understand. Listen, can you just check it? See if it's anything in there and then just give it right back to me. That's it. Like >> I know it's just for them. I was talking. >> I was able to take my mom first before when she got talking about I knew where you was at. If I knew where you was at, then I would know where you was at. My whole phone is dead. I don't got nothing on my background. I don't get in trouble and I'm getting a lawyer. >> I'm getting a lawyer for sure. >> Okay. and for you guys >> um for the story that y'all told because you know you came in >> beating this case but the best lawyer >> you said initially cuz you say everything was fine the second all you need >> I got it is your ID >> take it out and get this over with >> Can I get um your fancy >> yes please After endless arguing and threats, Queen was finally escorted to the waiting cruiser. But even on that short walk, she made sure her attitude was on full display. >> Please all the cash in first. >> Yes, that's what I'm saying. I have money to buy. I was about to steal nothing. >> The law says once you pass this register, you pass the last point. >> I don't know what the law says, but I wasn't feeling nothing. They It's a billion people around me looking at me. Why would I see it like All I see >> a million people up in here looking at me. I seen I seen every last security guard. I'm sorry. I seen every last security guard standing right here. Like I literally walk right past them in front of their face. All I see is they like, "Come here. Come here." And I'm not trying to apply. Like I see y'all in my face. I'm telling y'all, my cousin is right there. I'm trying to get her so she can pay for my stuff. She didn't know I was at the She didn't know I was about to walk to the register. None of that. She in a whole another different area for me. >> This is crazy. We just went to church this morning. All type of stuff. Like this was crazy. I would never like never come back over to this argument in this area. Nothing. Like I don't know if they racist or what. I don't know wasn't going for real because y'all literally see me. I walk past y'all in y'all face. Like I look I walk past y'all in y'all face. Y'all I knew y'all was standing right there. This is not no secret. I'm trying to get her and I'm telling y'all what I'm trying to get. Did y'all see that on the camera? >> What's that? >> That I wasn't even all the way down the escalade yet. >> Once you got to the bases. >> Yeah, because I'm telling her like, come on. I have to pay for the stud here to search. Move back so I can put the seat belt. Go the other side. Grab the seat belt. Slide back. We'll grab it. >> The woman was charged with felony retail theft, taken into custody, and later released with a court date scheduled. The previous lady got what was coming to her, and so did this shoplifter who tried to pull a skip scan off in Home Depot. >> There's people here that are alleging that you sold $490 worth of items. Ch. Is there any other item that you have right now in that bag that doesn't belong to you? Put this. >> That's mine. That's mine. You >> have a receipt for it. I'm going to do me a favor. I'm going to put your hands behind your back. >> On September 16th, 2021, officers were dispatched to Home Depot in response to an active shoplifting incident. Apparently, a woman attempted to use a selfch checkout theft trick known as skip scan, where someone pretends to scan items but doesn't actually ring them up. An officer confronted her outside the store just as she was about to leave. And it wouldn't be long before her devious schemes would be exposed. >> All right. >> I paid for it all. >> I'll never come back. >> Oh, that's not what I'm worried about. And if you paid for it all, where's the receipt? >> He has it? >> He has it? >> Yes. >> Let's walk in there and find out. >> Okay. I don't I'm going to be late for work. >> Uh, well, no, we're beyond that right now. All right. You're just going to have to be late, unfortunately. We got called. We're going to investigate something. You will get a report if you need to go back to work as an excuse for whatever it is at work. But right now, we are investigating the possibility of a crime. So, >> I just don't want to go. >> We're going to figure everything out right now. Okay. So, you're just going to have to stay safe. >> Can I just sign something here? >> Nope. Like I said, we're we're this isn't a bargaining deal. Like, we're in the middle of an investigation. Okay. So, lost inside. Apparently, he has a receipt. I haven't identified her yet. >> Okay. You have a driver's license on you by chance, ma'am. >> I promise I'll never come back again. >> And that's all well and good, but like I said, we got our process to follow right now. >> Can you just ask them that I'll never come back again? >> We'll figure that out. >> I'll stand by with her if you just want to go run. >> Yeah. >> So, what's going on today? Tell me everything. >> I'm a single mom. I'm just trying to get I just started trying to get >> Okay. >> So, that's why I'm saying I'll never come back again. >> Oh, no. I got you. So, >> when um when you came into the store today, what did you come in the store for? >> Did you pay the paint brushes? >> Huh? >> Paint brushes and the grease, which I paid and and the wipes. What are they wear? >> Huh? the paint box. >> Okay. What card did you pay off of? Did you use a card or cash? >> Card. >> Card. You have the card with you? >> Yes. >> Okay. Are you able to pull up the bank statement saying that you paid for that stuff right now? >> Yeah. He's got the receipt. >> I know. And I'm having that officer go and get it, but I'm trying to >> I'm trying to find out what exactly you used. And your bank will reflect that you paid. How much did you pay? It was like $35. >> 35 for paint brushes. >> Yeah. >> Grease lightning. >> Grease lightning. And it's >> right there. >> That's uh everything she didn't pay for. >> What? What? Let me see the receipt that she did. >> It's just stupid. >> So, what's this receipt for? Um >> she did pay for this stuff. >> Okay. And that's the receipt for what she did? Yes, sir. I'll put this in a shopping cart here. >> Okay, it's all hers. >> If guilt could walk and talk, it would look exactly like this woman. Knowing she'd been caught red-handed, the lady immediately tried to trespass herself from the store, except the officer wouldn't let her slip away that easily. >> All right. No, we we'll cover that when we get there. So, right now, I'm reading this. Tell me about this Ryobi 8volt drill, a handheld sprayer, quick change cleaning kit, cabinet cleaner. >> Oh, that like the brush I think brush thing. >> Okay, so they have video cameras here. All right. So, if we look at the video cameras, what are >> that? Let's listen to what I'm saying. If we look at the video cameras, what are we going to see? This is your chance to be completely 100% truthful. You can see that um that I put them in the plug. >> Mhm. >> And um I just did not scan the the drill set. >> Okay. >> Hey, how you doing? >> Doing good. Doing good. So, what do we got? >> It's a female. >> Yeah, we have we have her outside right now. >> Um she's a known shoper. So, she's known to come in here and um pick up a whole bunch of merchandise and then she picks up shopping boxes, the moving boxes, >> and then she would actually hide the merchandise in between the boxes and then go to self check out and only scan like two of the boxes, some small items and then walk out on her own power tools. >> Today, when we saw her on the floor, we were able to give me one second. Just gather that real quickly. >> Uh promises are all good. It's up to the ticket or please I just don't want to lose this job. >> Well, you're not going anywhere right now. >> Okay. Like I said, we're conducting an investigation. >> All right. So, which uh register were you at? Show me. >> Were you vid were you watching video footage? >> I was That's what I was trying to do. >> Okay. No, he got me a receipt for this is what he did pay for right there. And apparently this is what he didn't. We're about 10 bucks short on that. Let's figure out what they want to do. >> Never come back. >> Just just stand by with this officer still. Okay. >> One second. Just stand by here. Okay. [Music] >> It is what it is at this point. We can't change the past, but we're here. We got to figure it out. You may be telling me the truth for all I know, but I can't take you at your word at the moment. >> No, I I didn't >> I know, but again, I can't let you go. We're there's nothing up for debate right now. I can't tell you that we're going to sign anything. I can't tell you what we're going to do until that officer gets back to me with what he saw and what they said. >> Sorry about that. >> Do you have uh any of the footage for this? >> I'm going to have footage. I can have footage at soap checkout where she only scans those uh let's see four or five items and then I will have footage outside which I open up the box you can see chest and then her taking stuff out of her purse. >> So what was the items in a press account for as well? Every single thing. >> Yes, sir. Uh not as far as I'm aware of. I just took her word that she took everything out that she didn't pay for. It might be more. It might not be. I'm not sure. >> Okay. >> An interesting detail emerged during the investigation. Apparently the woman was only $10 short of her theft being considered felony theft. To the officers, this detail did not seem accidental. Rather, it seemed premeditated. >> There's people here that are alleging that you sold $490 worth of items. That's why I have an officer in there looking at video camera footage. And that's why I'm asking you what we're going to see. >> We have $49 of the drill. I guess for the drill. >> Tools are expensive. Like one drill could be 150 bucks. I think >> tools are very expensive. >> I didn't realize that. >> You may not have realized it, but that's essentially what we got. >> By chance, is there any other items that you have right now in that bag that doesn't belong to you? >> Could we look? >> Yeah. >> All I have is my cigarette. >> What about this? >> That's mine. That's mine. >> Do you have a receipt for it? >> Well, no. I have in my car. I actually have more paint in my car. I actually have more paint in my car. That is just I was getting for work. >> Why would it be in your purse? >> Cuz I was going to carry you in to work with the paint brushes and everything. >> I promise you if you look in my car, I have paint in my car. >> I promise. >> Is there anything else? >> No. >> Anything else at all? >> Nothing. Just my cigarettes and stuff. That's where >> are you here with someone else or are you just here by yourself? >> I'm here just trying to go to work. >> Okay. Well, you're here by by yourself. No one else is with you. Okay. >> Okay. >> You tell them I'll sign anything you want me to sign or Yeah, I have the actual here. This is the receipt that was actually paid for. >> This is realized. >> This is the one that uh wasn't paid for. >> Mhm. >> And I told her exactly what we're here for, exactly what that is. >> I mean, it's still 1095 regardless because even though it still didn't photo >> Yeah, I know. So, I mean, it's your call. So, you want to wait till after we get the band form and all that going. always my job. >> I got you. Just give us a few more minutes. All right. And we'll get the paperwork started. >> Am I going to jail? >> Oh, not that I'm aware of. Like I said, he's just getting paperwork right now. >> Okay. I'm just going to text my phone. >> Let let your work know that >> that you were stopped for a formal investigation by the police. >> I'll just tell them I was stopped by cops. >> Tell them it's a formal investigation. >> Okay. >> Okay. You guys getting stopped by cops could be traffic enforcement or anything. No, we're not here for traffic. We're here because somebody picked you for a suspect in a shop. >> Okay. >> Bit by bit, the woman began to realize that the deputies were catching on to her deceit. So once again, she tried to escape accountability. No, >> I'll never come back again. >> I got you. And I believe you. I believe you. But like I said, we can't just let you go right now. Where is your daughter? >> She's at home. She has virtual feet. >> She has virtually What old is she? How old? >> She's 12. Is there anybody with her? >> No. >> No. >> Yeah, because I'm going to >> I don't think so. I don't know that cuz I'm not the investigating officer. I can't tell you for certain what he would do. >> I mean, I admit I did. You know, I didn't scan it. >> You didn't scan it? Was that why why didn't you scan it? >> Oh, well for the drill. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. And that was mine. >> Oh. >> What about the other items? >> No. I >> So, all of those items are paid for. >> But there was a list of other items besides the drill that worked. to scotch. It just scotch like scotch work. So I just didn't want to have nothing. I was trying to do like I said clean up the store and get things. I mean I can pay for it. >> Okay. But why didn't you >> cuz like I said I haven't got paid yet. I was trying to >> Okay. If you were buying the stuff for the purpose of maintaining your workplace. >> Yeah. >> Why didn't your workplace give you the money to buy it? >> Cuz I was I was trying to kind of show initiative, I guess. >> I got you. >> Okay. >> But but you you're telling me that you >> Okay. You're telling me that you purposfully neglected to pay for those items? >> Well, no. I actually uh I actually went to um hit one if you if you look at the boxes. I went and hit one and um I honestly wasn't trying to pay attention. But the um honestly the Scotch Guard I did not which I didn't pay. I'm being honest. >> Okay. >> This is the best job I've ever gotten. It didn't make sense that the woman would have stolen all those items for the purpose of renovating her workplace, but it was a statement she clung to like a lifeline. Meanwhile, one deputy finally reviewed the incriminating CCTV evidence that Home Depot had recorded. >> Uh, but here she is right here. This is a good example about like she's a known shop. She didn't probably like her 10th time. This is actually the time she probably got caught this time. >> Mhm. >> And the other time I just pulled her credit card and I saw what she was doing. >> Um, so you can see she would come right here. She had this the box was in her cart >> and this is where we actually watching her on the floor. So, she opened up the boxes and hides the merchandise in between the boxes. >> Okay. >> So, you can see them right here. >> Took her a while to select one. >> So, she didn't even like really remove the items. She just hit them. Then, I'm assuming she used the scanner just to scan what was on the surface and then roll out. >> Yeah. So, there she's hiding it in between the two boxes. >> Okay. >> At that point, they're pretty concealed from the side at least. So, then after that, she will walk towards the register and you see her transaction right here. Okay. I only honestly expected her to pay for everything in the cart except for the power tools >> cuz every other time I've seen her do it, she has pay for everything except for the power tools. Gotcha. >> All right, ma'am. I just need you to sign this form. It's a colonel trespass form. This basically states that you're no longer welcome on the premises. If you ever call on the premises again, obviously this is grounds for automatic arrest. Okay, let's walk over here so you can sign in on a flat surface. All right. Other than that, I'm going to need you to do me a favor. I'm going to put your hands behind your back. No, unfortunately I'm going to have to take the bag off. >> Oh, can I at least call my job? >> Well, we'll we'll figure all that out shortly afterwards. All right. >> Can I Can I bond out or whatever? >> You're going to be released on subpoena right now cuz we're having issue with the jail right now. So, we're going to get you fingerprinted and then we're going to bring you back over here and then you'll be able to go home. >> Mhm. >> In the event, you know, something like this happens and the arrest is more effective where you actually would go to jail. And that's something that has to be dealt with for the state. We have to make sure that whoever is going to be able to come over and take care of the child in your absence clearly. But again, this is clearly something you need to really look at yourself at when it comes down to taking care of your child, taking care of your family, taking care of yourself, cuz isn't that really the life that you really want to live? Clearly. And whether you may have gotten away with it a few times or not, obviously, it ultimately comes back to haunt you. And unfortunately today was uh that instance. This is not something you really need to start putting yourself through. So I'm not here to ask you for your for, you know, for yourries or receiving your forgiveness or anything like that. This is ultimately up to you to make the decision to actually seriously reflect on yourself and think about the choices that you're trying to make because the last thing, like I said, we want is either you going to jail for something more egregious, whether it be a felony shoplifting charge or getting arrest because you miss a court date and you got a warrant or for something that's much more egregious. and then obviously putting your yourself out of commission, but also putting your daughter into either the care of someone else, whether it be family or in the charge of the state. >> In the end, the lady was charged with misdemeanor theft. Moving on to the moment deputies got their hands on a deceitful woman who tried to commit fraudulent returns at Walmart. >> Hi, we're security. >> So, you just did some fraudulent returns. >> Yes, you. They know that the things you returned, >> you selected from the store. You didn't pay for them. >> It's not like I was doing major stuff, but I mean, I know. >> What do you mean major stuff? Yesterday was almost $1,000. So, I don't know. >> I've never been arrested before, please. >> Oh, come on. I find that hard to believe. >> On July 28th, 2024, officers were dispatched to Walmart in response to an active shoplifting incident involving a woman who was making fraudulent returns. >> She's doing a second return. Okay. Okay. He's trying to scan her her her digital receipt. >> Yeah. Just for the record, we have PCR ready for return fraud. >> Uh, he struggled last night. It's not scanning for whatever reason. >> Where's your guy? Is he going to help you? >> I still have not been able to locate him. He might actually be on lunch. >> We only had one today. I cannot find him anywhere. She's doing a second return for Sean. Actually, she might be doing a third return. >> Wow. Sounds like she needs to go to jail. >> Yeah, she's I I'm just I don't even want to know how many times she's gotten away on us. >> Tell your uh yellow vest, don't stop her. Just wave her on. >> Keep going. Keep going. >> Yeah. I swear to God if she goes into subway, I'm going to have a freaking stroke. No, we got the crime anyway already. So, we'll just contact her in Safeway. >> All right. So, he's giving her more cash now. >> Okay. >> Can't exactly tell how much cash he's pulling out. He's not making it easy for me to count. >> That's okay. >> All right. But he did give her a receipt, so we'll just use that receipt. She put that money in her right pocket. No, she pulled it back out. >> It's going to be gone by the time we get there anyway. >> All right. She's moving away from the customer service. She did not try to return that speaker. >> Okay, so she's going to walk out with it then. >> Yeah, she looks like she's coming to the GM or the pharmacy site. I lied. She turned around. >> Okay. >> What the [ __ ] Yep. She's going towards grocery now. >> Grocery. Okay. >> All right. She's in front of the nail salon. >> Okay. >> She's in front of Subway. Yeah, she's coming out. She's wearing a black shirt with like a Playboy bunny on her back. >> She out the store. >> She's about to cross the final point of sale here in a second. There she is. >> Despite being caught on camera shamelessly committing theft, officers were about to be surprised by the lady's attempts to get off the hook. >> Hi, we're at security. >> So, you just did some fraudulent returns. >> Yes, you. >> Okay. Go ahead. Put your hands behind your back. Drop the receipts. Put your phone down. Put your hands behind your back. >> Do you have any weapons on you? >> No. >> Okay. You're under arrest for theft. I've been watching you for about a good 20 minutes already. I just paid for that though because I just went to the restaurant. >> Tried doing it yesterday too. >> Everything was >> I didn't do anything yesterday. >> You got away. You're right. >> You're under arrest for theft. The speaker is not paid for. We know that already. This receipt shopping you didn't select. You selected these things from the store. >> I just paid for I just paid for those. I got the receipt right there. >> Remember everything's on camera. >> No, I get it. That's fine. But >> you lie to us. >> It's a good straight ticket. >> Look at the receipts. What I was saying. >> Yeah, the receipts are all fraudulent. We know already. You're not the first person that brought this up. Okay. So, anyway, you have the right to remain silent. Do you understand your rights? >> Okay. So, we're gonna escort you back to the loss prevention office. Dave, just throw her in my car. I'm just going to drive her over there. >> It looked like this was the lady's bad day because she almost thought she got away with it until she didn't. But before the officers could address the fraudulent returns, the deputy discovered something else a miss about her. >> Okay, first off, we have to identify you. What is this nonsense? Tessa M comes back to a Talisan Peak who's a male that's 611 175. >> Why would your brother come up as you? >> That's not my name though. I don't know why. >> I don't know either. >> There's driver status right there. >> Well, you better start thinking about different name cuz this one ain't working. You just said that that was your brother. >> No, I was saying I don't. But if that's not me right there, >> you know, you got to keep your lies straight cuz I listen really well. >> Okay. What I'm trying to say is that driver I don't give a rat's about the driver's status. I want to know who you are. I'm going to run it one more time. And if not, you're you're just going to go to jail for providing false information to law enforcement. Regardless if you have a warrant, nothing. I'll just book you. That's that's the simplest way for me. It's Sunday. Last name again. What is your real name? I'm going to run it again. If it comes back, no record. We're not even going to go in the office. You're going to go straight to jail. I'm listening. I don't either, but it usually means that people are lying about their name. >> No, but above it it said driver status. >> I don't give a about the driver's status. What is your real name? >> That's my name. >> That don't look like her. >> Oh, she's got multiple. >> What is your middle initial and what is your date of birth? >> 93. >> Nope. Comes back to Talison 611 175. Male. You're definitely not a male. >> Is your ID out of Washington? >> No, it's Portland, Oregon. >> It's out of Oregon. >> Yeah. It's in my purse. >> It's It's in your purse inside. >> Yeah, it should be. >> I'm not sure. >> So, which one of these IDs is yours, >> Tessa? >> So, I'm going to use that. >> Passport to the right. >> Yeah. Who are these? >> I'm not sure, sir. >> Well, they were in your purse. >> I understand that. Yeah. >> So, where's your Where's your Oregon ID at? >> It's in there. If it's not, it's in my car. >> Whose car is that, by the way? >> It's mine. It's >> not registered to you. >> I just got it. >> So, are you Ashley? >> No, it's probably in my car. >> I'm guessing you're not this guy, Elijah. >> I was just looking for it, too. It's probably in my car. >> Where's this passport you speak of? >> He's got it in his hand. >> Passport. Passport. >> And then my driver's license. It should It should be right there in my my car. >> So, the name on this is correct. >> Yes. My driver's license. It's in my car. I had it on. Did you check this pocket? >> What's the uh address on your coins are? >> Wasn't any my ID or anything in there? That's what I'm saying. >> You would know that. Why you >> Well, no, because I might I can't feel right there. >> Where is it? >> It's in my car. If it's not in my purse, it's in my car. >> This for your car? Yeah, but I I mean I don't want to just have the door open like without me. >> Transport you to your car. >> This lady was like a jack in the box, always hiding something until the truth suddenly popped out. And as more information came to the surface, officers realized that this was not her first rodeo. >> She got lucky yesterday. When we were dealing with all the other commotion is when she tried to do that. >> They must have all been together and they just >> I I feel like they do have like a little meet up and say, "Hey, let's all just try to mass surge them and see what happens." So, we already know, just so that you know, in contact with loss prevention the whole time you've been here, they spotted you right away because they recognized you from yesterday. They know that the things you returned >> you selected from the store. You didn't pay for them. You didn't come in with them. >> A couple of them I didn't. >> There's a couple things you came in with. The speaker you selected and have to be removed from a glass case by an associate, right? >> Yes. >> You never paid for that. Fortunately, you didn't try to return that for cash, but you did do two p previous ones for cash and those are being scrutinized right now. It's just been a little hard for me. I mean, I It's not like I was doing major stuff, but I mean, I know. >> What do you mean major stuff? Yesterday was almost $1,000. >> I got really scared. What? >> Yeah. >> For my card not working. >> Yeah. >> Okay, back to the store. We'll figure something out. >> Is she 100% the one that tried to get out yesterday? Um, >> my card. >> She didn't change her clothes or anything. >> Really? >> She said she tried to use her card, but everything she said >> tried to take the card out of merchandise, but there was three managers that prevented her from doing it. No, they didn't stop me or anything. They were just standing around me. >> And that's when you decided, oh, I'm not going to risk it getting caught because you were right there at the point of sale. Final point of sale to take it out, >> right? My card declined. >> Well, you still took the cart all the way to the final point of sale. >> Yeah. Who does that? >> But you have to to bring it up. >> But your card got declined. How you going to pay for it? >> You leave your cart. >> Okay. You're going to be booked into jail cuz that's the only reasonable way we can identify you cuz you got so many IDs. You can't find your driver's license. So that's the safest way for me cuz I don't want to get your name is not really Tessa. I don't want to get >> Tessa in trouble because you lied about your identity. >> I'm telling you the truth about my identity, you guys. It's right there. >> Which one? >> The Tessa. >> Like I said, I just grabbed that bag. >> It doesn't really look like you. >> I'm moving. Just grab my bag. Use that bag. >> So that's $649. That's not counting the refund from >> Wow. >> $649. >> Wow. >> What? Me? >> Yeah. >> I just paid for something though. Not even close to this. Ain't even close to $649. >> I've never been trespassed or anything from here, you guys. >> Going to be trespassed and cited and booked into jail. >> Thank you, >> Gordon. Do you want me to do the theft and the refund fraud like twice? >> You can do it all in one. >> Okay. >> So, I don't know. >> I've never been arrested before. >> Oh, come on. I find that hard to do. >> Look, everything >> I've never done. Everything you said I've seen >> since the time we contacted you >> with you the whole >> has either been a lie or some kind of roundabout crap. >> How has it been a lie? I've been talking about everything. >> I paid for that. >> No, I paid for some of it. As I said, >> you know what? We're not We're not dealing with semantics here. This is not an English language course, okay? I've been in trouble before. I've been doing this for 30 years. I know when people lie to me. Unlucky for this woman, she'd encountered some of the most nononsense cops there could be in the police force who were not shy of putting her and her lies in their place. >> What What state were you born in? >> Portland. >> Oh my god. >> I thought he said the passport >> more. What would be the difference? >> No. What do you mean? >> He He just asked you. >> I didn't hear him say >> state were you born in. I heard it. >> Okay. Sorry. I thought he was talking about that. >> And you said Portland, Oregon. >> That's where I'm from. I'm sorry. That's just You guys have a lot going on right now. Like a lot going on. I got a lot going on, too. >> I'm sorry, you guys. I'm never telling you this before. >> What's your last name? How do you spell it? >> Okay. What's your middle or sorry, what's your first name? >> Tessa. >> Tessa. What's your middle initial? >> M as in Mary. >> Yes. >> Why does your passport say L? >> Does not. >> That's not your passport all of a sudden. >> No, I didn't say that. >> Then what? >> You guys, >> you know what? I'm just going to do the site based on what she's giving me and the jail can figure it out. You know, this could have been so easy. >> I've been answering everything. I've been telling you everything. >> You're answering everything. That's great. But you everything's roundabout or a lie. >> It is not. >> You know, I'm very observant. So is this officer and that officer. >> And you can go get my driver's license, too. >> Place of birth, Wisconsin, USA. He asked you specifically. >> I thought about where you from. I didn't hear that part, you guys. I just said I was sorry. I didn't hear. >> And what the hell is this supposed to be? >> I don't know. This was in there. >> You say somebody trying to wash a driver's license. Make another one. You know exactly what that means. You guys, please don't do this. Like, >> if you ask them nicely, they may not tow your car. If your car's not gone by 11:00 tonight, your car's being >> Please don't do this. Like, I understand really wrong, but come on, you guys. Please. I've never been in trouble with you guys before. I've seen way. >> You haven't been caught. Don't cry. Your tears are not going to change the outcome. It's not going to make me feel any less about you, guys. But please give me a chance. >> My job is to make sure you are held accountable. I'm doing my part. >> Hold myself accountable for it, sir. I really >> I don't trust you to hold yourself accountable. >> Did you hold yourself accountable yesterday when you got caught? >> I didn't I didn't get caught yesterday. >> I know you didn't get caught. That's why you didn't get caught. >> Didn't go through you guys. And I walked away from the cart. >> You're not welcome at all. And so we're putting you in the database. Life. You are trespassed from Walmart for life. Doesn't matter if it's Yelm where you had an event. Doesn't matter where it's Tacoma. Doesn't matter Federal Way, any Walmart. You are not welcome on the property and is trespassing if you enter the property. Okay. >> All I can say is I can go get my my driver's license. Guys, I don't know what else to say. Why? I don't understand why >> the other officer just went out to your car. >> We We already looked for your ID in there. >> Like, look, >> I don't know what you're trying to get out of this. You're under arrest. >> I get that. >> We need to identify you. That's it. You're not We're not about to be Okay, you know what? We're sorry we inconvenience you. >> No, you guys are I understand what I did was wrong. >> And that's why you're going to get booked today because they're going to take your fingerprints at jail and then they'll actually identify you. So, if you have any other warrants or anything like that, you can probably expect to sit there and serve that time for those warrants. If you have any felony warrants, what they'll do is they'll transport you to King County Jail and have you sit there. If you have any outer state warrants, they'll extradite you back to that state and you can serve your time there. >> No. >> Okay, that's that's just what I'm telling you is going to happen. >> Okay, but I don't have it. >> Okay, then if then you don't have to worry about it, then you're just going to serve your time for today's incident. >> As it dawned upon the shoplifter that none of her tactics were working, she suddenly became increasingly desperate, trying her best to get out of the predicament she dug herself into. I will do anything to get this right. I said I'm I know I do wrong and I won't ever come back to this Walmart. I promise. >> You do? You go jail for that, too. >> What? >> Come back to this Walmart. >> I know. I'm saying I won't. There's so much worse things going on right now. Like I don't understand like why you guys can't give me the one chance. Like I've never been here before. >> So So you're right. There are worse things going on. But when we have a call for service, we have to answer that call for service. >> Yes, I did. And instead of three police officers helping other citizens, we're sitting here dealing with you. One, because we can't identify you >> and because of your actions today. This is your citation. It is for theft in the third degree despite you stealing probably a felonious amount of merchandise. We're going to go with the lower degree. Um, not real sure what I'm going to do with the crystal meth cuz that I can test and he may sustain a charge because of that >> for a little bit. Can I tell you about it? >> You know what a little bit is? >> I >> This is not a little bit. This is actually quite a bit. You know the Blake decision and all that stuff. >> I admit to everything I've been cooperating with you guys the whole time. I don't understand. And you know what? You guys are hitting me so hard for all this. Like my kid is at home. >> If you turn out to be Tesla, I apologize at this point. I'm not believing you because everything you've told us is counter. >> Can she go out and look at my my car for me? >> No, she doesn't want to go through your car. Are you kidding me? >> ID theft. >> Fortunately, I think this is a gross misdemeanor. >> So, you got that. The problem is is that providing false information to law enforcement is a class C felony. >> I get that. I'm not It's right there. >> Yeah. So, as long as you're not worried about that. Can't take any of this. >> You can't take any IDs that I do not belong to you except for the Tesla one cuz >> Oh, that one's different initial. >> Yeah, but who? That's who she's claiming to be. I'll take a picture of that. >> Tessa Lauren. That may be your sister. >> No, it's my maiden name. >> Your maiden middle name. >> When I was married, I had >> your middle name when you got married. >> No, it's Maurice is a French name, you guys. It's not like that. Like, I don't know how to explain it. So when I say >> people change their last names, not their middle names. >> It's a it's a hyphened last name. It's not >> Oh boy. >> When did you get married? >> I was married 14 years. >> No. When did you get married? >> Um when I was 20 to >> look straight at the camera. >> Say uh 28 maybe. >> In my 30 years not going to help get my daughter >> of police work. Right. I have never seen anyone change their middle name when they got married. >> Nobody. Zero. >> Okay. >> When did you Hey, when did you get married? >> I was married from what did I say? Like I was 20 to 34. >> And how old are you now? >> I am just uh >> Are you still married? >> No, that ID is from when or the newest one. >> We're done here. >> This is too much. Uh, this officer is going to drive me by your car and then you're going to watch me put all your stuff in the car and then I'll bring back the keys. No, >> I can't have a drink of water. >> No. >> So, you finally admitted that you lied to us. >> No, I'm saying if you think I do, >> like ah, >> I'm sorry for lying to you guys. >> But that became >> I don't know what I was lying about though, you guys. Unsurprisingly, it was later revealed her fingerprints did not come back to the name she provided to the cops. The woman was ultimately charged with theft, possession of a controlled substance, and providing false and misleading information to police. Up next is the case of a group of teens who spent their day hopping from store to store, filling their car with stolen clothes and merchandise until they were eventually caught red-handed. >> Throw in throw in the car. >> I have a yard sale. Whoa, they're fully loaded. >> On December 27th, 2023, three teens were caught stealing. But what police found in their car left everyone shocked. >> Put your hands behind your back.
