From Florida to Georgia, children should be protected, but they aren't. Instead, they're thrown out onto the streets. >> The damn doors open and this kid comes rolling out of it. >> How? He fell up my car. >> Or trapped in a nightmare under their very own roof. >> But this time, the police showed up. >> Many things have put these kids lives in danger today. >> Step downstairs now. >> You were supposed to get in the car with them in the back. >> And my husband's a sheriff for 22 years. You'd be charged with child. >> You want to go to gay? >> How dare you be even a wife? >> You put your children's life in danger by letting him smoke marijuana. >> She always say bad boys. >> And each dark piece of the truth was exposed, making everyone shudder. Just one careless nap and a three-year-old went flying out of the car. Apparently, seat belts and child seats were just for show. While were the real must have on this family road trip. >> He falls out of the car. >> He just came on out of it. slide rolls all the way over and the car took off. >> On September 15th, 2021, a man witnessed a young boy suddenly fall out of a moving car and tumble along a road in Florida while the vehicle kept going. He immediately rushed to rescue the child, carried him to safety, and called the police. Flaggler County deputies quickly arrived to take statements, but the incident left far too many questions unanswered. >> What happened so quick? >> I've never seen anything like that. The silver car, best I can tell, it's silver. pulls around and I see the damn doors open and this kid comes rolling out of it. >> He falls out of the car. >> He just came falling out of it. Slide rolls all the way around and the car took off. Which way did it go? Silver SUV pickup. >> No, just a caravan. A car. Just a car. >> Did it hit another car or >> nothing like that? >> My problem is I was just I saw him. I was in disbelief and I just >> I'm in disbelief right now. >> Yeah. >> Hey, are you all right, pal? >> He's got He's got a little cut. Let me see, buddy. He's got a little cut on his finger. Hey, do you know your name, big guy? >> Can you tell us your name, bud? >> You know your name, bud? >> You can tell us. What's your name? >> Chu. >> Chu. >> Had a hard time telling me about anything. >> He or she made a U-turn. White car is right there. I'm sitting first one in line over there. >> I thought it was a dent in the door. That was the damn door open. >> He just signal 14. Subject says he may have. >> I just looked at him. I say I just silver car is all I can think of. And I just got I kind of >> Did the door close when it kept going or did you not >> No, it was it was still open. I even tried to ask him, "Did anybody know that you were out of the car?" >> That's what I'm wondering. They don't know you fell out. >> Yeah. Were you riding with your mom? Were you riding with your mommy? Was daddy with you, too? >> Just mom. >> The mother eventually came back after realizing her child was missing. Yet, her face showed not a trace of concern. >> I might possibly have a vehicle pulling up right now. >> Where's my son? >> He's in the front seat of that car. >> How? >> He fell out your car. >> How? Oh, he fell on my car. >> Copy tag for the parents just showed up. Matt, >> how did he fall? >> You tell you tell me that. Was he buckled in? >> Sleeping. >> Where was your son at? >> I was sleeping. He was on this side. >> Who was driving? >> My brother. He said he said he heard the door open, but he didn't he didn't think like >> you want to come get him out of this man's car. He's got a little cut on his finger. He's okay. When did y'all realize he wasn't in the car? >> Right now. Like right now. We got on to the expressway and my daughter was like, "Where? What? Why you >> Don't yell at him. He's >> I know. You want to you want to pick him up? He's scared. His hand hurts. Okay. >> The more police investigated, the more stunned they were. Both drivers were under marijuana and the car was in alarming condition. >> Sir, Carol wanted all the way. Do you have your your ID? No. >> You don't have anything? Have y'all been smoking? >> Yeah, I've been smoking once. >> When? >> Like a couple like coming like 20 minutes ago. >> 20 minutes ago. And you're driving. Four kids in the back seat. I >> I had windows down. >> Yeah, your windows down. Were you smoking in the car? >> Yeah, like one time. You want to get in the car with them in the back? >> Do you have any more weed in the car? >> Were you driving? >> Yeah. >> Can we get your ID, too? >> ID. >> You don't have a ID locked in your doors or >> Oh, goodness. >> Where's everybody's car seats? >> They can wear a seat belt, right? >> Um, well, you have this many four kids in there. >> Only three seats. So, how many four kids for three seats >> with three seat belts? >> They all fit there. >> It doesn't matter if they all fit there. How many seat belts are there? There's three seat belts and every juvenile needs to be in a seat belt. So obviously someone's not in a seat belt if there's four kids. >> I mean I just got this car. I used to have a big van but I >> So you're saying if I just get this car I'm going to sit four kids in the back seat. I'm going to make sure there's four seat belts in the car. >> I have six kids. >> I know. But I understand that this what I was I didn't think that my son would ever do something like that. >> I know. But under state law every child needs to be in a seat belt at least a certain >> age. vlogs on now. Where are you guys coming from? >> I'm coming from Florida. >> Oh, we're in Florida. Where you Where are you coming from in Florida? >> Trying to get to South Carolina. >> Okay. What part of Florida you guys coming from? >> Very far. We're far far away. I'm trying to get one by name. >> His dad. >> Okay. So, you're going to be dained for now. Okay. While we >> investigate. So, you said you were smoking in the car with them in there? >> Yeah. >> Is there any more weed in the car at all? >> Like probably a joint left. >> A joint? >> Do you have a medical marijuana car? >> Oh, yeah. You don't have medical marijuana card. My question is is how do you not realize that the door opens and one of the kids fly out and then we get on 95? >> Cuz I ain't I ain't here. >> You didn't hear the door open and shut. >> I kind of did hear something that was like >> and see a kid fall out of the car. >> They hurt. >> So if there's four kids in the back of that car and three seat belts, how does everyone have a seat belt on? >> I think they they did have >> My question is is if there's three seat belts and there's four kids, how do you get three seat belts on four kids? It it's impossible. And obviously the kid that didn't have the seat belt on is the one that flew out the car and hit the road. Right. >> He said there was probably a joint left. If I'm not mistaken, I think he has multiple suspensions. >> The curtain hiding the truth about marijuana and unprescribed Xanax was lifted. >> All right, ma'am. I'm going have to talk to you for a little bit now. Okay. You might come over here with me. We're going to go back to the beginning of what happened. So, where were you guys coming from? >> Coming from Miami, Florida. I was coming to South Carolina for him to see his dad. And I was sleeping. What woke me up was when my daughter said, "Where is um Chris J?" They thought that he got out of the gas station and went into the bathroom without my brother knowing, but that's not what happened. He didn't even notice that my son fell out the car right here. Like I didn't even like Then that's when I went crazy and we was like right there on the e-way. So, we had to hurry up and turn around to get off and come back to the same gas station that he said he my brother said he was at. >> All right. And the pills I found in the glove box, the Xanax bars. >> The Xanax? Yeah, those are my anxiety pills. >> Okay. Are those Do you have a prescription? >> I don't have it in my bottle. No, I don't have my prescription. >> Do you have a prescription for Xanax in particular? >> They give me um some type of pills like that's for like that. >> Has a doctor prescribed Xanax bars to you? That's what we're asking. We can check that. We can go on the record. We can check. No, but they they prescribe me with pills that are like in the Xanax family. >> In the Xanax family, but he hasn't prescribed you those those pills. >> I have bad anxiety pills problem. >> Where did you get those pills from? >> My friend gave them to me. >> Your friend gave you those pills? >> Yeah. Does your friend have a prescription for the pills? Is it his is it his prescription? >> Probably not have a prescription. >> Okay. >> At the same time, signs of and violations became increasingly clear. >> The secondary concern that I have is when you guys left Miami. >> Okay. You got four four children in the back seat. There are ages on the back seat right now. Is that five or 9, five, four, and three? That's our ages in the back seat. That's the concern that I have. The secondary concern is um who was the male that was driving the car? >> My little brother. Were you awake when your brother was smoking marijuana in the car? >> No. >> You weren't awake when he was >> sleeping. >> Yeah. You were sleeping when he was smoking marijuana? Did you know that he had marijuana on him? >> No, I wasn't aware they had marijuana. Okay. >> So, now he's driving under the influence of a narcotic with four juveniles. One of them obviously not in the seat. I can't I can't say that they all weren't in seat belts. I know that when we came up to the car, they weren't in their seat belts, but um two of them were supposed to be in car seats. >> Which one said that? They said four-year-old supposed to be in car seats. So, anybody under the age of five needs to be in a car seat. >> Five and under. >> Five and under has to be in a car seat. >> Basically, that means I can't drive my car at all because I have six kids. >> Yes. Listen, without me vehicle that would be suitable for you to drive a car for now to get around. >> You would have to have a vehicle that would seat six student now. >> Yeah, I know. I always used to have vans and stuff like big cars because my I lost my car and this the only option that I had to have a car for now. >> I understand. Like I said, there's other options that you as a mom have to take for the safety of your children. A better option would be finding somebody to watch your juveniles so that you can fit up there. That would be stuff that I would expect a parent to do. Do you have any family that's in the area here? >> Where is your family at? >> Far away. We don't live here. >> But where would your family be at? Where would the nearest relative be at? >> Miami, Florida. And nobody have a bar. >> And nobody has a car down in Miami. They don't know anybody that could. >> No. And this car is not even under my name. I was going to do all the registration and everything. >> So your younger brother, does he have a license? >> He never had a license before. Did you know he didn't have the license? >> I think I Yeah. Yeah, he didn't. Yeah, he didn't have a license. So, >> okay. You're putting your children in the back of the car who don't have seat belts on a non-licensed driver. >> Listen, I love all of my kids. >> This isn't a question if you love your kids or not, but >> I know what happened was a mistake. I understand. You know, I don't know what you want me to do. >> There's there's a lot I want you to do as a mom to to for the safety for your children. >> First, I can I can go buy it first. >> Pushing police to the point of no delay, forcing them to cuff immediately. At this time, we're going to detain you. All right. >> Over here. >> No. Do this. Do this. Walk with us. Walk to the back. Walk. Walk to that car. I don't want to do it in front of your kids. Go ahead. Put your hands behind your back. >> I was sleeping. >> Cuz there's many things going on here. Many things. Many things that put these kids lives on danger today. Not just one thing between too many kids without seat belt without the car seat. No one realized the kid fell out. The in the car. There's a lot of things going on right now. >> We'll discuss that later. Okay. Well, come talk about it in one second. Okay. >> I said, "With these rights in mind, are you willing to talk to me?" >> I don't know. >> No. >> You don't want to talk to us? >> I'm going to jail >> right now. We're It's still an investigation. So, we're still doing an investigation into it. Okay. All right. If you were to go to jail today, your charges would be driving with no driver's license. Okay. I don't know how many suspensions you've had, possibly driving under the influence narcotics, and also child for having narcotics in the vehicle with the children on there. And then also failure to for due cause to make sure that those children since you're the driver, you're responsible to make sure that they're in car seats and they're in seat belts. You basically drove off and let one fall out of the car. So you be you'd be charged with child. >> Like I said, we we're still doing an investigation. That's why we wanted to talk to you. >> Still, they had to follow a maze of procedures. Protect the child, complete the hold order, and prepare the file for DCF. >> We just got to see if this dad comes back to this car. You guys are doing okay in there. That's your puppy. >> All right, Desiree, a few more questions for you. Okay. Do you have like a next of kin to so to speak for that you'd want contact for your kids? Someone that you'd want contacted for them? >> What? >> Uh just for DCF >> because DCF has to be notified because your child flew out of the car. >> The father. >> Is the father local or is that's the one that's in South Carolina? >> The one in South Carolina. >> This point the brother's being placed under arrest for driving with spend driver's license felony possession of marijuana and a child. were also being placed under arrest for child possession of the Xanax pills if they turn out to be Xanax. Okay. The two of you had every reason or right to either one put those kids in a car seat or make sure they're properly buckled in with the two of you failed. I mean, you put your children's life in danger by letting them smoke marijuana driving like that. Okay. Well, >> all right. Let me call somebody so they can come give my kids. >> Well, here's the deal. Right now, I can't sit with your kids while someone comes from Miami. So, I did call Department of Children and Families. They are on their way to take possession of your kids. But if you give me that name, I will give that name to them. I'm going to take your oldest child, put him in one of these cars, and I'm going to drive the car literally from here to the parking lot and get them off the roadway. Did the kids eat this morning? >> Man, did the kids eat breakfast? >> If I was going to McDonald's and get him some reads, anybody have any allergies or anything? All right, so I'll go McDonald's, get them some food, and the investigator should be here the next half hour, 45 minutes. Okay, step on out, and they're going to walk you over to the other car. And then there's a puppy in the car, too, correct? >> Yeah, those are my puppies. >> All right, there's more than one in there. All right, they're going to go to we're going to turn them over to I can't to our animal control. >> Hey, can I pick them up? >> Yeah, I'll give them your name. My car, not under my name. >> Well, here's that's the problem. The car is going to get towed. It's going to go to the local tow. You won't be able to get it out until you bring a valid registration insurance for the car. The car is not registered and the car is not insured. So, you shouldn't be driving this on the roads. Okay. >> Okay. All right. It's all right. I see everything you guys are doing. >> Yeah. Not everything that we're doing. Everything that you the choices that we selected today. >> Hey, everybody got a seat belt on back there? Can you guys scoot over here and put your seat? Is your seatelt on? >> How is it in jail? >> No. She's uh gonna go try to find some car seats. Okay. Everybody has your seat belt on. >> I ain't got no warrants in there. >> Um are you supposed to have a warrant? >> No. >> No. I didn't see any warrants on you, but we'll double check that when they do your fingerprints in the jail. If you have anything like this a little bit differently when you're arrested for child that's why the department of children families neglecting my children. >> It's not what it's not what we think. It's the evidence that shows you we'reing your children. Additionally, you're also being charged with possession of a schedule four narcotics. Desiree Rodriguez, the mother, was arrested and taken to the Sheriff Perry Hall inmate detention facility on charges of child and possession of a controlled substance. She was held on a $5,000 bond. Her brother, Jacob Santos, was also arrested and taken to the same facility on charges of child, driving while license suspended, and possession of marijuana under 20 g. He was held on a $3,400 bond. All four children were placed in the care of the Department of Children and Families, DCF. Remember, seat belts, proper car seats, and sober driving are not optional. They're mandatory if you want to take your kids on a trip. Protecting your child is never a joke, and negligence always comes at a heavy cost. If in Florida, kids were tossed out of cars like excess luggage. Then in Georgia, they were locked inside a prison called mom. >> Oh, and her knee as well. >> You got something on your knee? Oh, no. On October 17th, 2024, police went to a home in Brelton, Georgia, after reports of a mother acting violently and threatening her kids. Inside, three children, 8, six, and 13, witnessed daily violence. One began to reveal the terrifying secrets they had suffered. >> That's correct. She's leaving work. >> Hello. Hello. What's going on today? >> Okay. Hey, what's going on today? >> Sorry, I'm a little shaken out. >> It's okay. Tell me what happened. >> This part is kind of usual. She was just like complaining how I'm like in responsible like now washing your stuff like that. That's normal. >> Yeah. >> But then she kind of started getting my face to like try to walk away. Then she started getting my face and that's when like she did this like that and that's how I got the cut. >> Has your dad at home? >> No, he's at work. He's >> she called him and he said to me off. >> Has your mom been drinking again today? >> She has. >> It's really obvious. Even when he's drunk, you can tell whether she's drunk or not. >> Sorry. He's friendly. I know. You smell my puppy dog. >> And so yeah, that's how I got the cut. Make me >> Where's your cut at? >> It's a little lip. >> Oh, >> and her knee as well. >> You got something on your knee. >> Oh no. Where did that happen? >> I think she like pushed me down. I didn't mean to kick her but like I kicked her. So someone hit me again and then right when I was at the door cuz like you think Leo opened the door. My little brother um she like pulled my hair and that's when I kind of screamed. >> What do you think made her mad? >> I I don't know. on me. After she was like complaining how I was irresponsible, I told her, "How come you have like a bunch of trash around your room?" And that's when she like started getting in my face and stuff like that. >> Well, just hang tight here. We're going to go over there and talk to her and y'all called her dad. He did. >> He's on his way. He actually is in law enforcement when I leave. Okay. He is in town. >> Any other brother's sister still there? >> My little brother Liam. My little brother. As far as I'm concerned, the mom my mom hasn't. I know that. >> Okay. >> My little brother Liam, he just saw everything. So, he might be a little shaken up. >> And how old is he? >> He's eight. My little sister is is uh six. >> Six. All right. Well, just hang tight right here if that's okay. >> Yeah. >> We'll be right back. Okay. >> When police raided the mother's home, she flatly refused to cooperate and resisted fiercely, forcing them to use a taser to make her comply. >> Hello. >> Hey, ma'am. Please step outside for me. Okay. >> I'm not even stepping outside. You can >> step out. Step outside, please. You said I can come inside. >> You can walk in here, but you have no reason to knock on my door anyway. >> I do. Okay. I'm not going to I'm not I'm not going to get >> I already got obstruction. >> All right, cool. There's one. >> Your dogs don't bite, do they? >> I'm about 5 7 minutes away. >> Can you hear me? >> I'm about five seven minutes away. >> She knocked the door on us. What's the code to get into your house? >> About 5 minutes away. >> Okay, I heard you. Can you tell us what the code is so we can come in? Cuz she won't she won't let us inside the house. Can you hear me? >> Hey guys, I'm about 5 7 minutes away. Can you hear me? >> I I can. >> It's okay. Come open the door. Okay, come here. It's okay. Unlock the door. 1358 radio. I've got two children. I'm trying to get in here in the back. I got to open the door. If you would uh 25 back the back door's okay, >> ma'am. Where's your mommy at? She upstairs. >> That's you. How are you? >> Who let you in my house? >> Step downstairs now. Come downstairs now. Who will let you open my door? Cuz I'm going to get you. >> If you move, I will tase you. >> Turn around. Place both hands. Turn around. Place both hands back. My hands are back. >> I've done. >> Put your hands behind back. [Music] >> Put your hands behind. Put your hands back down. >> I put my sweater on first. I can't flip. >> Okay, that's enough. >> Your back. >> At the same time, cries of panic echoed through the house until one officer gently spoke. I know your daddy. Just to calm the children. >> 58. I'm making an entry through the garage. >> It's okay. It's okay. I know your daddy. It's okay. It's okay. It's all right. Listen. I know your daddy. It's okay. Come here. Y'all come with me. Come here. Y'all want to come outside? >> My shoes. >> Where's your shoes at? Hey, come here. Let me get shoes. Come here, hun. Come here. Come here. It's okay. Y'all want to sit over here for me? >> Yeah. >> Sit over for me. But it's okay. >> Yeah. I used to work for your daddy at his sheriff's office. Look at that. >> Dad. >> Yeah, I know your dad. >> You're hurting me. >> Put your hands behind your back now. >> I'm trying. You just tind. I just want to put my sweater on. >> Put your hands behind your back now. You're under arrest. >> What? Why am I under arrest? My old double. >> So my my husband called and said to us, >> "No, ma'am. >> I didn't do anything." >> You obstructed a lawful investigation. >> I didn't do I'm in my house. >> Y'all good? >> We're good. >> Hey, did you tase? >> Yep. Tas deployed. >> You want a med unit? Boo. Can I eventually put a sweater on? >> I'm not going to jail like this. >> Yes, ma'am. Go. >> I have no shirt on. >> I can't go. You just teased me. My go. I need to put a sweater on. I don't go outside like that. >> Who's that? >> Yep. >> Me or you? >> I think both of us dog poop. >> No. Can I put >> No, you can't. >> Please work, >> ma'am. Please work with us. >> Walk down the stairs. >> No, I need a white. >> You are going to fall. >> No, you're throwing. You just tased me. Oh my god. >> On this side, even after being tased twice, the mother still refused to cooperate, turning an already chaotic scene into complete turmoil. >> We're going to stay until daddy gets here. Okay. >> Okay. Mommy's mommy got in a little trouble. >> Our sister. >> Who's your sister? Um, she's 13 years old. >> Where's she at? >> Like next door. >> Oh, I'll get her. Okay. It's okay. It's okay. She's not hurt. She's just being loud. She's acting like that. >> She always say bad words to want to let >> She always says bad words. >> Okay. It's all right. >> It's okay. She's not getting hurt. She's not hurt. Okay. >> She is in trouble. She's going to Thailand. 615. >> I need my sweater. >> You must like jail, don't you? >> No, I don't. >> If you don't have a seat, we will pick you up and place you in this car. We're not playing. The taser should have indicated that. >> Have a seat. >> Left foot up. Come on. Left foot up. >> I'm trying not to. Okay. Right foot up. >> Here. Get out. Let's take the pro over. You just teased me twice. Like that's funny. >> I want a sweater. I'm not going to chill like this. My husband's a cop for a reason. >> There wasn't even no skin. Okay, have a seat. >> I want a sweater. And you >> step in. Please have a seat. >> Everybody's laughing at me. >> Nobody's laughing at you, ma'am. >> How dare you tase me? >> Have a seat. >> You obstructed again. >> I didn't obstruct. >> Have a seat now. >> I'm trying to, but I want >> No, you're not trying to, ma'am. Left foot. >> I can't. foot. >> Calm down. >> Ow. >> There we go. >> Ow. >> Even so, the children's safety remained the top priority. >> Should we stay at the hotel? >> No. No. You don't have to stay at the hotel this time. I remember when y'all stayed at the hotel last time. Look, I'm Officer Andy. You can call me Andy cuz it's hard to say my last name. I'm going to call your dad. Okay. He's at work probably. All right. And I'll call him Have him come straight home. >> You okay? I know those prongs got you for a second, dude. What the hell? >> I got about 3 seconds of it. >> Oh, no. Yeah. All I did was I re-energized. And on that re-energizing, that's why I was like, I cut it off. I was like, "Oh, no." >> That freaking dog poop. >> I think I fell in there. No crap. >> I don't see it on you. >> Huh? God is good. Cuz we were both down there in the ground. Oh. >> All right. Let me go talk to your sister. Okay. Get to come back home. Okay. >> All right. Yeah. Y'all just hang out right here for me. >> Victim in here. >> Victim right here. >> Okay. All right. >> Her dad does want her to check on her siblings. >> No problem. I went to the front door, told her to step out. She closed the Why I'm not stepping out? Obstruction. We walked to the back door. One of the little girls let me in. Open the door for me. So I opened the door, went upstairs. I grabbed her by her wrist. She pulled away from me. Taser. Taser. All right. So she's okay now. >> She's in the car. >> Mhm. >> Emma, you can go check. >> She was placed under arrest and she's going to be placed under arrest today for the first degree. >> Obstruction of children. Not only that, she put she caused violence in front of the kids. >> Yeah. Because Yeah. >> That's cruelty in first degree now, I So, children first and second. >> I'm sorry, but this has got to stop. >> I don't see why he's still here. Why he why he keeps these children around her? >> Cuz he has nobody else to help him. >> But come on, man. You're leaving the children with this lady who's stays intoxicated. >> She's got an issue. She needs help. >> She does need help, but she don't want to admit it. >> These poor little kids. >> The mother. She kept leaning on my husband's a sheriff for 22 years, yet acted no better than a child. What am I going to jail for >> when I did not do anything wrong and my husband's a sheriff for 22 years and I tried my best? What am I going to jail for? I'm not doing anything wrong. And then you came and not only tased me once but twice. >> So you hindered a lawful investigation right off the rip. Ma'am, this all could have been avoided if you would have stepped out of your house and spoke with me. So it's first for hitting the girl and then two seconds. >> First of all, I never hit a girl. Just wanted a sweater. I can't go to the police department like this with no sweater. >> As things slowly calmed down, police began discussing and reviewing the mother's behavior. >> It's okay. Don't cry. It's okay. Make sure the dogs don't get out. Y'all just stay inside. Okay. >> Okay. >> Okay. It's okay. >> All right, brother. She's going to jail again today. We had to tase her. >> Good. >> She was resisting us through the door. We told her, "Don't shut the door." She slammed the door in her face. >> Step outside. Let me speak with you. Right. We're >> like she always does. You've seen her do this before. >> One of the daughters let me in from the back door. Me and Sergeant Bagwell here walked upstairs. Did you? >> I attempted to go hands-on with her. I grabbed her by the wrist. You're being placed under arrest. She pulled away from me. Taser. Taser. >> 13year-old. I think she's 13. >> The kids didn't see you. I kept them downstairs. >> She hit her in the face with a with an open hand, busted her lip. She scratched her. She's got claw marks across her chest, and she's got scuff marks on her knees. >> I'm going to tell you right now, this is probably a felony, right? >> It is. >> Okay. So, that means she's going to Jackson, correct? Because Wagman will have a field day with her. So she's going to jail today for the children in the first and then two counts of the children in the second because the other two juveniles witnessed it. >> They were witnessed to this >> and of course obstruction. >> You can't blame yourself. >> It's been going well. >> She stopped you. This is all alcoholic lady. >> Oh, absolutely. She's drunk right now. >> I told her, "Hey, just chill out. We're going to get you help. We're going to do all these things." And she stood sober for about like 3 weeks cuz I've been out of the house. The kids and I, we've been just trying to stay away from that. >> Yeah. They asked if they're going to a hotel tonight. That's a no. >> No, no, no, no. I'm staying here. Tuesday, I think it was Tuesday, she had an episode. I didn't want to deal with it. I ended up leaving with the kids again and it just fired out of control. She sounded good today. I was like, "Listen, I got to work late today. We're going to come home. We settled it and then this happens." >> Resources card. >> Oh, trust me, man. I got >> I just I just want to make sure we're giving you all the resources we can. >> I have all the only resources right now that I have is uh black law right now. What we need to do is I'll let you get in there with the kids. Calm them down. They want to see you. >> Oh, yeah. I know. >> So, and I'll come in there. I'll come in there in a second and get their information. What's the video footage showing the ring? It's just showing. >> Does it show us making contact with it at the moment? >> I'm the one who opened up the the garage. You to open the garage door open. >> Okay. Yeah, cuz I was last >> cuz I was trying to talk to you and I guess >> I was trying to get the >> I'm like doing like 90 miles an hour driving to pull me. >> I was wondering how the garage door open. >> I thought y'all did it. >> I have everything. Well, that's why I made entries through the garage door. >> And I grabbed the had the kids come to me. >> The best thing for her. >> It is unfortunately >> if it if it helps her get sober. >> It's a reckoning for sure. >> While also discussing strategies to provide emotional support for the child, baby. All right. >> Hey, they're going to check you out real quick, sweetie. Where would you hurt at? >> It's not that bad. >> It's all right. Don't worry about it. It's going to be all right. >> Where you sit down? >> You just got a scrape. >> A little bit of a scrape. >> And where else did you get hit >> here? And I cut under here. >> Okay. >> What happened? >> She was like getting my face and so I walked away and that's why she did this to me. So she got her hand in my face and that's when I got the cut. I think she like pushed me down like that and that's when I kicked her so she would hit me and that's where I got the knee straight and then she somehow got the scratch >> right here. >> No, I'm fine. >> I don't think that's all that happened. It seems like it's superficial. Nothing major. transport, right? >> Oh, yeah. I was at work when all this happened. >> You don't want transport. >> No, I just finished paying a $2,200 transport medical bill, man. >> Yeah. I mean, I'll be honest that if we did, there's nothing we're going to do anyway. >> I don't care. >> Helpless. The mother kept dragging her husband in as a shield, throwing out threats. I'm going to file a report on you. >> I need my handcuffs are too tight. You tased me twice. I'm going to file a report on you. And my husband is sheriff. He's outside talking. You need to let me go now cuz I did nothing wrong. >> He is extremely upset, but not at me. >> You're not doing this. You can't by law. This is why you guys are like half like >> ma'am. We Let me Let me Let me walk Let me walk you through this. Finish. Okay. >> My husband to get me out. You locked it. You tased me twice. Can you open the door so I can get a a sweater? >> No. >> This is so tight. My my my I can't even move my my wrist. >> And the police facing an addicted mother, they had to consider using an alcohol monitoring device on her. >> You're going to be forced to uh that steel cell sobriety, you know, >> you know, at least put one of those alcohol ankle monitors on her. >> Is there such a thing? >> There is such a thing. It's an ankle monitor. It detects if you drink alcohol. >> She doesn't do meds. She doesn't do that. I'm aware of >> she just drinks. >> She just pounds it away. Tito's vodka and truly splirt. >> I think the last time I was here, which has been a minute, it was there was Truly cans everywhere. >> Probably Truly cans upstairs right now. >> Yeah. >> Let me go thank my neighbor now. >> Okay. >> Hey guys, thank you. >> Hey, you okay? >> No, but >> anything we can do for you? >> I'll be here for probably the next two weeks. And if you guys know daycare, cuz she's going to be gone for a little bit, which is probably the best thing. But um if you guys know any daycare for the meantime, mainly for like after school. >> Yeah. in a couple hours after. >> Okay. >> Thank you. I'm really sorry that you guys have to go through this. >> No, you know, we hate hate the situation, but I'm glad it's okay. >> If there's anything we can do for you, man, just let us know. We'll do our best, >> man. Now, I just have to get past the the humiliation part. And then I know it's no reflection on me, but still when we've had officers come in and you know they do stupid stuff or their wives because you know this is not unheard of of course >> it's one of those things that you have to kind of have to >> deal with when it >> deal with it >> when it raises his evil head. >> Unbelievably the wife of a deputy blurted out an insult at law enforcement. How dare you be even white after running out of excuses. >> I need a sweater. I'm not going in jail like this with a tank top on. Do you tase me twice? >> They will provide you clothing at the jail mail. >> No, that's not funny. >> I'm not laughing. I When have I once laughed? >> You tas me, mother. >> How dare you be even white? >> What? But that was the most outlandish statement I've ever heard. You're racist. >> I'm racist. And you just called dare I be white? >> Me twice. I'm going to get you fired. I swear to God, in the Holy Bible, as God is my witness. >> Don't put it on my God. >> You had no reason to taste me in my house. And then he bang my door open. >> I gave you the opportunity. >> Have fun with that, too. >> Oh, that hurt. You taste it twice. You're going to get the punishment for it. I'm caught material, but I'm married to a sheriff at 22. Don't have that. You're not even 30. And if you are, I feel sad for you cuz you tased me twice. I feel bad for you cuz you're going to get fired when I have more bruises on my hands. He's going to pay the price. I guarantee you. You're hurting my wrist and I'm telling you to open it and you said no after you taste me twice. Open it now before I kick the door. This is not intolerant. You slam my wrist after you taste me. I move my wrist my fingers and I'm going to have bruises and that's another law on you. That's another I know judges like the back of my hand. You think I'm stupid. What you did is you you I can't even move my wrist and I have bruises now. And that's funny cuz you tased me. My husband doesn't know that now, but he will. And then you storm in my door for me doing nothing. Can you at least release this a little bit? It's hurting me really bad. The good news is police stood their ground and followed procedure, granting no special privileges, even as she kept invoking her husband, their fellow officer, to beg for leniency. >> Ma'am, what's your first and last name? >> But my husband's here. >> I'm not putting your husband's name. Your husband's not arrested. >> Why did you feel the need to burst in my door? You had no reason to do it cuz I have heads next door to me. We don't do >> um What's your first and last name? >> Dana. How old are you, by the way? >> Doesn't matter. It's irrelevant. >> It does matter. >> No, ma'am. It doesn't. You're drunk. >> Cuz you're the one that tased me twice on the floor when I did nothing wrong. You're going to have a hard time trying to tell, convince, and judge. >> Likely this will be the easiest case I've ever worked. >> I I promise you. I guarantee you know it's the truth. >> Likely this will be the easiest case I've ever worked. >> Oh wow. Like I believe it. Daisy means twice throwing me down the staircase. I didn't throw you down the staircase, ma'am. >> I have no shoes on. And then I couldn't get a sweater. Yes, you're going to be fired. I don't care how long you've been on law enforcement a lot more than you do. And I wish I would have done the opposite. >> You know more than I do. So, you know that shutting the door in my face is a bad day. >> Someone and then you burst in my door. God, judge. And and >> Yeah. >> All right. You know more than me. That's why you're in the back of a cop car. >> You got tag. >> You did. No, I will tase you. >> You won't tase me. >> Oh, I got tased twice. No, you can't turn your video camera off cuz I have that on video footage. >> A >> Go ahead. You're going to end up getting arrested yourself. >> I might even get a letter of commenation for this incident. Ma'am, >> I need to make a phone call because my phone was left there when you bursted my door. No, I'm not playing. I didn't say you were. I'm not playing. I don't even have my phone with me. >> Okay. >> You keep saying okay, but you're lying. >> How am I lying? If I'm saying to do with liars in law enforcement, >> lol. LOL. That's all I got to say. >> Everything hurts. >> Okay. >> It's not funny cuz you >> laughing again. I've yet to laugh. >> You taste me. So go ahead and put extra charges. I swear to God by the Bible, they're going to fire you. Not to mention you wouldn't pull over to take my cuffs loosened. >> They're not going to fire me. I can promise you that. Okay. >> I don't need your name. >> I'm not going to I mean, >> you're you're you're no different than anyone else. >> Cool. I'm sorry you feel that way. >> I'm sorry. You're like like going on 50, but you're like a little kid. >> Like not even mature. >> That's the only time I've left this entire conversation. >> I I want all these bruises on my hand. You're gone, dude. >> I'm not gone. >> Yes, you are. Oh, no I'm not. I can promise you. Hey, >> you have to authority to to tase me. >> I'm sorry. I forgot you know more than me. I completely forgot about that for like 5 minutes and so I spoke out of turn. My apologies. >> I know you're driving around. I want to call my husband. >> That's unfortunate. Unfortunate. >> I'm hurting and I have no shoes or a sweater and everyone stares at me cuz they know who I am. I'm a sheriff's wife. So, how would that be funny to you? >> It baffles me that you think you can >> It baffles me that you >> I'm sorry. Middle of my >> extra charges. I know judges like the back of my hand. >> You'll get reacquainted with him when he gives you one felony and two misdemeanor. >> A felony. >> It's a felony. >> Yeah, a felony. >> Laughing about that. >> Crazy how I haven't laughed yet. >> You're actually You're actually You're actually ticking me off. >> I didn't even let my hand a little loose. >> Okay. and it's black now. >> That's only because you know more than me. >> I wanted to become a sheriff long many years ago. And my husband always told me no. And he does it because he's very supportive and protective like I am. And it hurts me to see people hurt. What you're doing is not the right thing. >> Okay. I thoroughly apologize for that. Ma'am, >> can you at least call the EMS? >> No, I can't. >> Yes, cuz I have bruises. >> I'm not going to. You at least call my husband for me. 005. [Music] >> You're charging me for the wrong charges and I never >> What's the right charges? >> No, it's not. If I'm married to a sheriff for almost 17 years. >> Oh, so you're above the law. >> I'm above the law. I know my law though. >> Oh, you don't. If you did, you would have stayed at the front and talked to me. But Nope, you don't. You taste me twice, echoed like a haunting refrain, repeated all the way until she was taken to the station. >> All right, ma'am. Go ahead and step out. Everything's okay. I just need to remain calm. All right, >> I'm fine. I just have look look. Okay, look at this. There you go. >> I'm not laughing. >> I mean, people know who I am. >> Ma'am, come with me now. Come with me now. >> My hand is pro. People look I can fit my entire pinky in these handcuffs. I can also fit my entire pinky in these handcuffs. I don't even >> That's way more than I should have even given you. It >> hurts. Look, I'm rude. >> Cuz you keep twisting your wrist. That's not smart. >> That's not funny. >> Give me your leg now. Give me your leg now. Come out. >> Give me your leg now. I do not want to have to force you out. I've already had to use force. I do not want to use any more force. You're doing good. Come on. Come on. There you go. I got you. >> I have shoes on. It'll hurt you sweater. >> That's fine. They're going to take care of you. All right. I got you. You're not going to fall. Okay. >> You have this too tight and it's hurting me. You chase me twice. I'm trying to get out. Can you let >> There's a There's a step right here. >> Can you move so I can walk before you tased me three times? He tased me twice. My husband is scared. Like, how dare you? >> You're going to be fired. >> Listen, I'm not talking. >> It's the truth. >> Can you at least open it? >> We're going to pat you down. We're going to get you out of these handcuffs. Okay. >> I mean, whatever. Okay. I'm not I don't do >> the mother was arrested and held on charges of cruelty to children first and secondderee and willful obstruction of law enforcement under Georgia state law. These charges carry potential prison sentences ranging from 7 to 30 years with bail set between $16,000 and $37,000. No personal power, status, or marriage can cover up violence and irresponsibility. The phrase, "My husband is a cop," can never be a shield against guilt, especially when the victims are children. Two stories, two settings, but the same truth. Adults make mistakes and children pay the price. In one case, kids were tossed from a car like trash. In the other, locked in a living hell inside their own home. Whether in Florida or Georgia, the ending is the same. Handcuffs, charges, and a looming sentence. The only constant is the burden borne by innocent children.
