Hey, hey, hey, hey. I hate everybody, dog. Get out of the car. >> I asked you to get out of the car and you didn't. >> I asked you why. >> No one in this story woke up intending to [music] be bad parents. But good intentions alone aren't enough without the right choices. [screaming] >> How much you had to drink tonight? >> A couple of beers. >> Sit down in the car. When emotions override reason, [music] child protection mechanisms must step in to safeguard the most vulnerable. >> I have to serve him legal papers and he's avoiding it. And that's all. >> The mother was experiencing a stressful period, carrying many frustrations regarding her child's rights, but the way she expressed her emotions caused the situation to escalate. On June 27th, [music] 2023, police received a call reporting a woman acting in a disruptive manner at a service facility while trying to address child custody responsibilities with the child's father. When leaving, she operated her vehicle in a way that drew officers attention. 44 St. John, >> what's going on? >> Well, there was to go home. >> Well, there's an altercation. >> You're welcome. Didn't touch anything. They didn't touch me. I'm not getting in the car. Why not? >> Why do you need me out of the car? >> Ma'am, I'm asking you politely to step out of the car. You're a part of doing a criminal investigation. I'm asking you to step out of the car. >> Get your officer. >> Ma'am, step out of the car. Please don't. Please. >> No. No. No. You need to call your singer. >> I'm asking you step out of the car. >> Why? >> I'm asking you now to step out of the car. >> My son's right there. >> Step out of the car. And I ask you. >> No, I do not need >> step out of the car. STEP OUT OF THE CAR. >> STEP OUT OF THE CAR. >> My hair. >> Step out of THE CAR NOW. >> WHY? TELL me why. First step. No. asked me. Hey, just because >> really freaking kid. >> I asked you to step out the car. >> WHY? ALL I ASKED YOU IS WHY. >> GET OUT OF THE car now. >> All I ASKED YOU WAS WHY. >> GET OUT OF THE CAR. I ASKED YOU TO GET out of the car and you didn't. >> I asked why. >> Get out of the car now. >> You did NOT TELL ME WHY. >> Step out of the car. >> I asked why. Can I please still ask why? >> I asked you to get out of the car. You didn't do it. >> That doesn't have to do with anything. >> Now you're not going to be because you never told me why. Why would I? >> Yes, you do. >> Stand up. I'm going to help you to your feet. Get out of the car. >> You do have I can't get up. I have bad knees. God, I'm not trying. Why? >> 448 St. John. >> I asked you why. No, my son's right there. He cannot go with his dad. >> I'm asking you. >> He can't. I have legal documents. One steer. >> Why did you ask me to get out of the car? All you have to do is tell me. >> I told you why. >> No, you don't get to do that. All you have to do is tell me. >> I told you to step out of the car. You didn't listen. >> No. All you have to do is tell me why. >> I told you to get out of the car and you didn't listen. >> That's not correct. You have to tell me why. >> My car. I asked you to step out of the car. You didn't listen. >> My son cannot go with him. I have legal documents. >> Do you have anything in your pockets? >> No. >> Any weapons? >> No. >> Are you injured at all? >> No. He's filming this cuz he's 8 months behind on child support. >> We will talk in a second. I asked you to get out of the car. You didn't listen. >> Why? Honey, >> I understand you're No, darling. All you had to do is tell me why. >> Just sitting in the back of the car right now. I told you you're under arrest. >> Okay. >> Step in the car. >> I just asked you once again. >> I asked you to step in. >> I just asked him why. >> I know. I have to remove you from the car. Don't make me just asked why. He's going to lie about all of this. >> We're going to talk about this in a second, but >> you're going to take me to jail because I'm sitting here. He's 8 months behind child support. I HAVE TO SURVIVE. >> CAN I please we'll do all this in a second, but I need you to listen to me. Put your feet in the car. I'm going to crank the AC. I'll be back here talk to you. Okay. >> Yeah. And he's going to tell you all. >> The boy was reassured that he had done nothing wrong [music] and that the incident did not reflect badly on his mother. It was simply a situation that got out of control. This serves as a valuable lesson on how to explain and support a child's emotions when adults face challenges. >> Hey buddy, are you all right? Are you okay? My name's Ben, by the way. Okay. >> Sorry you had to see all that, but she didn't want to get out of the car when I told her to. Will you be okay right here? >> Yeah. >> Okay. Well, I'm going to talk to your mom for a bit. I don't I don't want to take her to jail because she didn't want to get out of the car. We're going to talk about that. Okay. All right. >> But me and her need to have a conversation about when an officer asks you to do something and you don't do it. That's the problem. >> Okay. >> It's nothing against her and it's nothing against you. >> All right. >> When I get reports that people are fighting your mom, she's like nothing's going on and I ask her to step out and she don't want to get out of the car, that makes me think that something's wrong, that she did something wrong. And when I say you need to get out and she wants to get argumentative, it don't work. So, >> so me and her going to have a conversation. I don't want to take her to jail on something like that cuz it's petty. However, we're going to have a conversation with everybody inside. We're going to do that. If you have any questions, we're going to be right here and we're not going anywhere until we get resolved. Okay. >> All right. >> That's why I've been yelling at you. >> Okay. Talk to your son. He's fine. I just had a conversation. >> I know. >> I just explained everything to him. Okay. >> Okay. When do I get to tell you what's going on? >> In one second when I hear from what's going on inside. cuz I want to hear what's going on. Everything that I received is there was an armification between you and a party inside. When you tell me nothing's going on and let me just explain from here. Okay. I'll let you talk in a second. Okay. >> Okay. Okay. >> When you tell me you're not coming out of the car and more so swerve around my vehicle. >> No, I just wanted to park with my son. I know you don't. Okay. I'm sorry. I'm not I'll let you explain your parts here in a second. Okay. Okay. when you swerve around my car with activated emergency lights and it's a fully marked vehicle. >> You did park. However, however, you did swerve around me. So, that was indication number one that there was something going on and it led me to believe, yeah, I think this is the party involved cuz they gave your vehicle description as the party involved. >> A white haunted Accord back matching everything. Then, when I walk up to your car, you could clearly tell I'm a cop. >> I just wanted to ask you why. >> And I asked you, "Hey, I need you to get out of the car." and you want to say, "No, I'm not getting out of the car." That I'll let you finish. And then you don't want to get out of the car. And then you try to roll out the window and lock the door on me. That's another indication of a problem of me who has the legal right to detain you at this time to further my investigation regarding the battery of occurring. And then I had to physically hold on. >> That's what they're saying. >> Hold on. That is what the allegation of what I'm responding to is what occurred or hold on. That is what our 911 dispatchers were told about. And then when I have to tell you multiple times to get a car and you don't want to listen and I had to physically remove you from the vehicle with force to remove you from a car after I told you to get out and you didn't want to listen and all you had to do was step out and we could have talked right there. I wasn't going to put you in handcuffs. I wasn't going to bring you all the way over here. We were going to talk right there. However, because I believe that vehicles are weapons, and I don't like to talk people while they're in cars if they are suspect or victim, if that any case, because I have a legal right to remove you from my vehicle, and that's why I removed you from the vehicle, of course, because if you didn't listen and you do all that and the other, okay, >> that is why I took your keys off, made sure your car was in park before I entered that vehicle to make sure that you number one, you were get taken with you. Number two, that you had a child with you and I didn't want you driving erratically cuz you were upset. So, there's multiple issues there. I was parked and I I would have ran you over if I tried to get out and do that. Huh. >> Well, >> I know, but you don't want me to talk. You just want to talk over me. >> I'm not going to talk. I'm about to give you the chance. >> You and I had a dialogue. >> I'm about to have a dialogue with you, but you can finish. >> Mhm. Absolutely. >> Right now, when it comes to whole charging you about that whole desk is up to me. And what I'm saying is I'm going to play some facts. I'm going to figure out what's going on with this and then we'll go from there on that part. Now, what is going on? Let's start this whole altercation. >> So, >> actually, you know what? Because you're in custody, I got to reach your rights. Okay. Do you understand these rights that I've read to you? >> I do. >> Okay. What happens? >> I have to serve him legal papers and he's avoiding it and that's all. >> Okay. What kind of legal papers? >> Book it up. I'll give you the number. >> Is it? >> No. Book it up. I'm not talking about it. >> Why? Why won't you talk about it? >> Take me to jail then. >> I don't want to take you to jail. You got to legally serve paperwork. We can help you with that. Why can't we help you with the paperwork? No, cuz they just I will give you the case number. >> Is it a civil court court matter? Is that the child support you brought up earlier? >> I will give you the case number. Would you like the case number to look it up and figure it? Reads perfectly clear. >> What happened? >> Would you like to look at the paperwork I served? Because you can. I'm not seeing anything else. >> What happened in there? What happened? >> I'm not seeing anything else other than they preventing me from serving paper. prevented you from serving paperwork cuz that's an issue because they're not supposed to prevent you from serving paperwork if it's legal paper. >> So, what happened in there? >> According to staff [music] at the facility, the mother had previously received warnings for not following the rules there. >> He comes in here one of our customers about some personal matter between the two. We try to separate it like ma'am please my bartenders hey stop it. He started singing insults at my bar manager. The bar manager tried to stay calm the entire time. She eventually then tried to get physical bartender one of my employees in the face. Which employ? >> I was pushed. I was pushed. Okay. >> And she got in the face. >> Yeah. >> You want to pursue charges? >> Cuz I had to fight her at the parking lot, too. >> Whatever the path of least resistance is with a kid. >> Yes. Let's do that. How you doing? >> Okay, I suppose. Okay. I haven't talked to you as of yet, but yeah. >> Are you able to take the children? >> Yeah, I can. I'll probably just take him back to her house. My daughter's 18. My son's 13, so they'll be okay tonight. I'm going to stay right down the road. Okay. >> Do you want to come and get him? He's not sitting the car alone. >> Yeah, I didn't realize he was I thought his sister was in there with him. >> I'm going to leave your car right here. I'm not towing it. Okay. So, you'll be able to pick it up from here. You are trespassed from South Kitchen. Okay. If you return to South Kitchen, you'll be placed under arrest. >> Where? Excuse me. >> Yes. Did you look at the custody work to make sure he can go there? Because I I will be filing with the judge in a couple of days. That for >> this is what we call extenduating circumstances >> and we'll talk about >> even though >> is there an injunction or something in place? >> No, no. I I'm I um >> he's working on the injunction today. >> She came in to me in my home Sunday night. >> Did uh you file charges? >> Yeah. And I I did that today with Duvall County. Okay. Through the state's attorney's office. It's going to be a felony because it's wrote it up as burglary and then assault. The short version is she put some she's trespassing my girlfriend's house. She put some paperwork on her window. We came up here cuz it it makes me feel safe called your non-emergency number. Nobody showed up and then eventually she came in there and was a holy terror in the bar and that you found her. >> Everything combined, she's got to take the ride today, unfortunately. >> Yeah, she's and I hope she gets up. Like I was telling him earlier, >> I hope she sees some clarity. >> She's um she's going to murder me at some point. It's just it's just escalated to the point where there's no rationality on this >> and that my goal is to not have that happen. >> When she did not receive the understanding she expected, [music] the mother began to feel unfairly treated and believe that everyone was against her without realizing that her strong emotions were creating [music] distance between herself and the support system. >> You guys just don't care cuz right now you're charmed by them. >> I'm not charmed by anybody. >> County is noting charmed. Neither is Department of Children and Family Services who opened an investigation on him 6 weeks ago. You won't even call. They get in. Trust me, you will stand out in there. But you have to stick with this arresting me. He charms you, bud. Trust me. That's what aing abusers do. And they put their hands on me first. And if you would have looked at the tape, but you won't cuz you don't respect women. You got charmed by everybody. He's a regular there. Did you think they were going to say, "Oh, no. I'm sorry. Weed her up first. They would go to jail. But you won't look at the tape." God, I hope your mother's always got better treatment than this. You're continuing to not stop, not look, not do anything cuz you're charged by him and the bar staff. You just believe them outright, right? 65 diver. >> Nope. >> How in the am I going to tell my daughter? She's literally at work and off. If it's 8, she's off now. >> You know you'll be able to call her, right? >> She's going to be sitting there worried as hell. He has us. >> You know you're able to call her when we get to the jail, right? >> Oh my god. I have lost any faith in humanity. Dudes just get to do whatever they want. at bar put their hands on me first >> and you won't look. Shame on you. Shame on you. >> The bar staff was trying to separate you from >> NO, THEY WEREN'T. YOU'RE LISTENING to them. Shame on you for not looking at that tape. They me I never touched him. I never touched anybody till they put their hands on me. I'm disappointed because the cops have never helped me. Dude gets to me and the kids [ __ ] charm me and he charms his friends and everybody will die for him as he does the he does behind closed doors. I am ashamed of you. I am deeply and truly ashamed of you. Dude, do you not hear about the guys that molest women? I'm asking you why do you want to pull me out? All you had to say was for my safety. You just got the ball. I'm not answering her. All you had to do is say, "For my safety, ma'am, please get out of the car." You know what? I have enough respect for people. I got out of the car for you. >> But you didn't. >> No, you never told me. >> I told you to step out of the car. >> You did not. You said step out of the car. Not why. All you have to say is, "Hun, I need >> I don't have to give you a reason why. >> Please, because I Oh, of course. You're not going to be wrong. >> No, I'm actually not wrong. >> You're wrong. This is going to be an interesting hearing. Do you even know what it is? >> No, you tell me. >> You didn't even look at the legal document. >> You're right. I didn't. >> You're a piece of >> I didn't have to look at the legal document because it's not pertaining to a criminal case. >> You never even looked at my legal documents. >> I don't need to look at your legal documents. >> Of course, you don't have to. Hadn't the minute you threw me on the ground, you could have roughed me up and put me in jail. How many cops do it? >> I didn't rough you up. >> It's disgusting. And you know that you did the equivalent to a 51year-old woman and [ __ ] roughing her up. >> I didn't rough you up. >> Gave my kid to a man who just had a children in your thing. Looked up at him in 6 weeks ago. 6 weeks. This was a year. And you put my kid in his hand. He'sing college educated and thinks you're a piece of [ __ ] cuz he's college educated and he charmed you and that bar charmed you cuz that bar won't do anything for him. So good to know that you just helped him out and he thinks you're just trash cuz you're not college educated but he'll sit on his ass and not work and not pay t for grade m but you don't know that cuz you never looked it up and all I wanted to ask you is why. Tell me it's a safety issue. You weren't the first student. I've even got pulled over in traffic and the first person who did not tell me when I asked over and over again. Traffic people will tell you it's for my safety. >> The mother was charged with two misdemeanors, [music] including resisting without violence and disorderly conduct. She pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 6 months of probation along with 25 hours of community service. This journey emphasizes that knowing when to pause, seeking professional guidance, [music] and developing positive ways to handle stress are essential to protecting children, the most vulnerable, in any situation. Traffic laws don't just apply to streets. They follow every ripple on the water. >> One 1 2 3 2 3 4. >> On September 22nd, 2024, police spotted a boat on Nippersync Lake without navigation lights with a young child on board and conducted a safety check. Upon approaching, they noticed the operator was not fully alert, and the woman admitted to having consumed a small drink before getting on the boat. A sign that extra caution was needed. >> So, it's one, two, one, two, one, two, one, two, one, two, one, two. Picking up the speed. You understand? >> I do. I just don't Okay. >> This is like >> No, no, sir. I can't. >> No. >> Let me deal with her. >> I just >> What? Okay, young lady. >> Yeah, sorry. >> How much you had to drink tonight? >> A couple of beers. >> Where was that at? Uh, >> the brewery. >> I'm sorry. >> The brewery. >> At the brewery. Okay. >> So, okay. Call me out for that. >> No. No. >> I don't know what you're talking about, sir. I'm I'm talking to her. Let me talk to her. She's the operator. >> Okay. Well, >> whether on the road or on the water, operating any vehicle without full attention can create unsafe situations. Police still conducted the sobriety test to ensure the safety of everyone on the boat. >> Based on some of my observations so far as far as your speech and your movements, the odor of alcoholic beverage on your breath, I think uh we might have an issue here. But I want to run some tests on you and make sure we're okay. If that's the case, see my hand here? >> Yeah. >> When I tell you to, what I want you to do, I want you to count like this. 1 2 3 4 4 3 2 1 1 2 3 4 4 3 2 1 and continue doing it until I tell you to stop. >> Okay. >> Do you understand that? >> Go ahead. Either hand's fine. Go ahead and do it. >> Wait, I thought it was your hand. >> No, you're going to do it with your hand the way I showed you. One, two, three, four. Four, three, two, one. One, two, three, four. Four, three, two, one. One, two, three. Two, three, 4. Four, three, two, one. One, two, two, three, four. >> You're good there. See the tip of my pen there? >> I do. >> Can you go ahead and touch it? Okay. When I tell you to, I want you to follow it with your eyes. Keep your head still and just follow with your eyes. >> Okay, you understand that? >> There we go. >> No, no, keep your head still. Okay, keep your head still. Okay, you weren't able to keep your head still. Um, let's try this one. >> Okay, what I want you to do when I tell you to >> is clap. You're going to go like this. You're going to go one, two. You're neutral. You're tied up to it. You don't have to worry about the wheel. Here we go. One, two, one, two, one, two, one, two. >> Just like I'm doing. And then pick up the speed a little bit. One, two, one, two. Wait till I tell you to to start. So, it's one, two, one, two, one, two, one, two, one, two, one, two. Picking up the speed. You understand? >> I do. I just don't. Okay. >> Wait. This is like >> No, no, sir. I can't. >> No. Let me deal with her. >> I just >> What? >> Hey, >> can you have a seat, please? >> What? Me? >> Oh, yes. You >> love y'all taking off. Where's Where's your >> When asked to follow standard safety procedures, the woman declined by citing that she was caring for her child. >> Do you feel you're under the influence of alcohol right now? >> No. >> Okay. Would you be uh willing to participate in a portable breath test to see where you're at? >> What do you think? >> Yes. >> Do you know what the legal limit is? >> 08. >> Correct. Where do you think you're at? >> I I don't know because I'm breastfeeding and I >> Okay. Can you do the PVT? >> Uh, not these ones. >> What about the one in here? >> Yeah. >> Yeah. >> Uh, one of the SWAT team members I know, family members. I >> No, >> we're we're not trying to do anything. >> It's fine. Oh, >> I I just want to go. We don't have the >> We still want to go home. We're not that far. >> Hey, >> what do you need to do? >> You need to reopen. >> Yeah. >> What happened to the yellow ones? >> There was never a portable one in the yellow. >> None of the three people on the boat met recommended [music] safety standards. Police looked for another adult to care for the child, but ultimately child protection authorities had to step in to ensure the child's safety. Bye, man. All right. Well, let's go over there now. >> We're going to go right over here to appear. >> I'm going asking >> I know. I know. >> Go right up the stairs. Right up the stairs. >> I know. It's I know. It's ridiculous. >> All right. There's many things you can trip on, so walk slow here, please. Okay. Here, please. >> Can you take your purse off my purse? Right over here. Okay, here's where we're at tonight. Okay, I talked to the other deputy. Apparently, you are under arrest for OUI is what I was made to understand. Okay, for operating the boat on the inform, but there is no one else on that boat right now. None of those three adults are capable of driving or taking the baby. They're all intoxicated. So, here's what I need you to do. I need you to come up with a person that can come that is sober that can take the baby. Okay? Because if I don't have that option, I have to by law calls. And I'm not wanting to do that, but I that's what I have to do if I don't have an option. So, do you have somebody you can call? >> Yeah. So, >> you said you have a car seat in the boat that the baby can go in. >> Yes. >> Perfect. You have your phone here? >> Yeah. >> Okay. Go ahead and make that call with me. I'll give you the address where we're at and they can come and they can even pick you up too. >> You need anything from me right now? Trying to think >> if it was his or you have an ID on here. The deputy deputy's got your ID already. Well, isn't there a photo copy in there? >> There's a there's one with a hole in it. If you already take your other >> No, no, no. There should be the paper copy in there, too, cuz I just went yesterday. >> Um, okay. Is your little one? >> Do I only have one call or as many calls as you do me a favor? Can you put your baby in here for now? Okay. I'm a little concerned. Why are you saying >> because your grip isn't really good right now? >> She's fine. >> And I don't want anything to happen to her. Okay. >> So, just do me a favor. Let's lay her right in here. Okay. >> Fine. >> The outcome of this oversight included a formal safety report, temporary license restrictions, and a notice to appear in court. 5472 from 5470. Do >> you have a Jonathan me there? >> 5472 one by fraction 54701 by name and date of birth. >> Hey, can you >> last of 703 703 >> North Route 12. >> North Route 12. >> We've We've been clear >> on the water. It's not very heavy. >> 547. >> Can you say the address again? >> 703. >> 703. >> North Rob 12. >> North Rob 12. Fox Lake. >> Fox Lake. Like >> the car. Same parking lot as the American Legion. >> It's the American Legion. Oh, I know where we are. Sorry. >> I drive past it every day when we go to our house. American Legion on Cross Lake. They pulled us over because we didn't have green red lights on even though we had >> when we left from Anyway. I thought we had green light or red lights on. >> Yeah. Okay. Thank you. All right. Love you. Bye. >> Where are they coming from? >> Uh Bington Tower. >> Okay. >> First of all, let me give you your driver license back. Okay. Or the temporary one. Just barely cuz it's my birthday on Sunday. >> Okay. So, we stopped you because you were operating the >> because I didn't have lights on. >> Do they have the navigation lights on? >> Even though they were on, but we >> they were not on. >> I know. >> They were not on. >> When we checked when we left port, they were on. So, >> maybe when you left port, they was on. I don't know anything about that. >> Up to up to you. >> When I stopped you, the lights were not on. Okay. So for that you're going to get a citation for for operating a pantoon with no navigation light required. Okay. When we did >> okay >> when I agree with you on that one. I agree with you on that one 100%. Especially with a baby on board like that. >> After we stopped you, we did the safety inspection on the vessel and we found that the battery terminals were not covered. They supposed to be covered with a rubber cap to prevent >> my husband. Okay. I will accordingly I >> I agree with you. >> Okay. That's going to be your second citation. And then the most important one, based on our observation, I think you are operating the pontoon under the influence of alcohol. Okay. >> Under what? Okay. >> We we passed that point. So that's going to be your third citation. >> But you don't have we asked you to provide a breath sample and you refused. We have other means to determine if somebody's under the influence of alcohol and we did. Do you remember doing some test on the boat when my partner asked you to do something? Okay. So, that's going to be your citation for operating a boat under the influence of alcohol. You have a mandatory court date that you need to show up and that's going to be October 16, 9:00 in the morning. You have the address checked right here. You have the time check. >> I see that you're pointing to that, but okay. >> So, tomorrow look at it again and you will see the address, the time, and the location for the court appearance. Okay. >> And you also get a copy of everything that I read to you. all your rights as a as operator of a watercraft and the suspension that's happening because you refused to provide the bread sample. All these are your copies, okay? Including a copy of the safety inspection that we did on the vessel. So, I'm going to put everything in an envelope so you can have them tomorrow. Okay. >> Okay. >> Do you have any questions for me right now? >> No. Just wanted to be in bed and go. The mother was charged with voting under the influence in child impairment. Under Illinois law, she could face up to two years in prison and a $5,000 fine. Every responsible action by an adult is a way to protect children and teach them about safety, respect for rules, and consideration for those around them. Some people worry more about their pets than the risks affecting their own children. >> She's more worried about you with her dogs than she is talking to her kid and keeping him calm. On September 16th, 2024, police were dispatched to a highway after a report of a vehicle traveling at high speed. Upon arrival, they encountered a woman with a young child and two dogs. The woman appeared anxious, explaining that she was part of an animal rescue organization and was particularly concerned about the well-being of her pets. >> Just a little bit. Roll it down a little bit. >> Okay, stop. There's enough. That's enough room. >> WAIT, CAN I COME OUT? >> NO. NO. IF THIS DOG COMES OUT, ROLL YOUR WINDOW UP. ROLL IT UP. JUST TAKE IT DOWN A LITTLE BIT. I DON'T WANT TO GET BIT. I'M NOT GOING TO SHOOT YOUR DOG. DO NOT LET THIS dog out. >> Can I help out? >> Yep. Shut the door. Do not let the dog out. >> Trust me. I'm an animal sanctuary nonforprofit. I've done this my whole life. That's what I do FOR A LIVING. THAT'S WHY I ask permission if I can. >> Thank you. Thank you. You got called in. He's doing a hundred down this road. >> Me? Yeah. >> You can ask my boyfriend. He has the speed limit on my thing. I can show you how fast I was doing. >> Okay. What's the Is there a problem? >> No, I just stepped over because I'm not from here. >> Okay. >> And again, the only reason I asked permission to get out was because my dog, she's trained to protect me because I, like I said, I live in the city, so I want protection. I don't own guns and stuff like that. I don't want to own a gun. I don't own a card or anything. That's my son. Do you want me to >> No, no, no, no. I want to make sure those docks don't get out the window. >> Sir, do you want me to roll it? >> No. I don't want you to open that up again. So, I was on 80. >> Yes. >> Two lanes merges into one. I'm in a big Penworth service truck. I'm at the end of the merge. Like, I'm in where it's one lane. Yeah. >> And I look in my mirror and I see this car. I mean, just booking it. And they pass a car in the two lane. They come flying by me on the right hand side of the shoulder in the gravel. And then I see her get in the other lane and she drives in the other lane for a little bit, then gets in the middle. Hang on a second. >> IF YOU GOT TO DEAL WITH YOUR KID, DEAL WITH YOUR KID. You're not free to leave yet. >> And then I watched her. She got out of the car and almost seemed like she was stumbling and then she got a dog out and let that thing go in the ditch off a leash. She almost went head on with another car. I'm just trying to make sure nobody can. >> Based on signs of instability during the assessment and some uncoordinated behaviors, police suspected a potential safety concern. However, the mother did not fully acknowledge the situation and offered explanations that did not align with the observed circumstances. >> So, here's what I got going on here. This is my concern. I smell something sweet. Have you been drinking today? Have you been drinking today? >> No, sir. I don't drink. >> You don't drink? >> No, I can smoke. I smoke. I have a medical car, too. Even >> that doesn't make it legal to drive. >> No, I know it's federally illegal. So, stand. Come here. >> You want to do a test? >> Yeah. I'm not going to lie. Like, I've never been pulled over ever in my life. I mean, >> were you staying at the top by any chance? Yeah, they were in the same with your daughter. >> Let's see if they'll sing on this. >> What did you say with your daughter and granddaughter? >> What's happened? >> Well, your daughter was in an altercation at the Shell station next door. Just stay seated if you want so you don't fall again. >> I know. I'm going back to [ __ ] gun you mother one by one as soon as I can find you. >> Now you're making against a public official. You take it from me. Find you stupid. At the store, [music] staff testimony made the situation clearer, outlining the true severity of the mother's behavior. >> So, what what's going on? What happened? >> She came in and she started uh mouthing off immediately to to another woman. That's an older woman, my regular customer. And she goes, "What are you looking at? What are you looking at?" And she comes from there. She right when she walked in, she goes, "Ice cream, ice cream, ice cream." I'm like, "Man, calm down. It's right there." And then, uh, she had a little girl with her. Is the little girl okay? >> Yeah, the little girl's okay. The little girl started crying and I I could just imagine my own daughter, you know, in this situation and I would never put my daughter through that situation. I got scared. Then she came up, she bought a 12-pack and she bought ice cream for her daughter and I rang it up in that time frame when she was walking around. Another customer walked in. Then she came up to him and she said, "What the you looking at? What this and that?" And then he kept his cool and she came at him and then she started swinging and fighting him. What he did, he he tackled her right here and she fell and then he rained punches on her on her face. >> So, she attacked him. >> She attacked him first and then uh she she said she made a remark saying, "Oh, I uh can't you see I'm on cocaine or something like that." I don't know what what she was talking about, but I think she made a remark. >> Due to her concerning actions, the mother was arrested and held on charges of disorderly intoxication and serious bodily to a law enforcement officer. However, the court's ruling amounted to just one day in jail, a few hundred in fines, [music] and a $6,000 bond. She was quickly released and still retained the possibility of keeping custody of her child. A mother failed to follow the law, ignoring her responsibility to her daughter, leading to serious consequences for them both. But the question remains, was this sentence [music] too lenient for her? This video doesn't end with an answer, but raises a question for all of us. If you were in the [music] place of these children, how would you hope the adults around you would act? The law can be strict. The system can feel cold, but the ultimate goal is always to ensure safety. When adults lose control, society must step in. And sometimes that intervention is the last chance to prevent a serious situation. Thank you for watching until the end.
