She whipped it real hard so that I flew off the car. [music] >> What's your first name? >> These children are growing up in an unstable environment shaped [music] by adult choices where everyday pressures quietly distract from the care they deserve. >> Can I have been offering? >> All right, walk back to me. When responders [music] arrive, it feels less like a standard visit and more like a gentle reminder of how delicate the balance is between protection and long-term impact. Imagine noticing someone unfamiliar trying to interact with your child and gently encourage them to move toward a vehicle. How would you react? She's walking with her son. They're turning and she's telling my kids to come follow her. On November 3rd, 2023, authorities in Florida received a report about a child's safety concern after a couple approached [music] and tried to persuade a young girl to go with them. They had previously been seen around areas frequented by families and appeared distressed, raising community concern. Officers promptly gathered witness information to help protect the child. >> What happened? >> I don't have to tell you what's right here. So I was driving right here. One B, white big B stop right here and a one homeless lady with another man coming outside the van and tried to take the baby the lady and he tried to put the kids inside the van >> like a kid. >> Yes. >> He uses his son. >> Yes. The guy is in a green shirt right now. They're obviously This isn't the first time that I've had to sit here and tell them to leave my kids alone. My kids play here. >> Who? So, who came out of the van and grabbed and physically grabbed the kid? >> No. Tried to physically The girl the girl. >> Okay. That was inside the van. There was a a male and a female occupying it. Yes. >> She pops out of the truck, grabs your kid. >> Tries to grab [clears throat] my kid. >> Tries to grab your kid. >> My I guess he they didn't see that my my kid's father my kid's father was outside in his truck. >> Mhm. >> And he came out and I don't know what happened from there. I guess he knows what happened from there. >> Yes. >> Where did this van take off from that? >> It went. >> No. No. He say he say legally say listen to me. I want to go to the gas station. I'm going to put gas in my truck and then I'll come back to everybody in this house. Calm down, man. Calm down. >> It's going to beat up. Is it a beat up van? Is it a new van? >> No, it's old van. It's old van. >> Maybe you can check the gas station in the street. You leave up. You leave inside the truck. >> One second. One second. >> Carl's advising a van come up to the residence and attempted to grab a kid and obviously didn't get the kid, but he drove off northbound on Fed. >> Yeah, he went eastbound and northbound on Fed. He said that he was said he was going to a gas station. He's going to come back and I don't know people. >> What do you look like? >> He said, what was it? Black or white male? Uh, >> black guy. >> White guy, green shirt. Driver, female inside the van. >> Officer. Officer, come on. This is the one of the lady, >> Charlie. >> Say, look at my face. >> Give me a sec. Give me a sec. Give me a sec. >> Can you take the picture? >> That's the one that grabbed the kid. >> Yes. >> Is it right here? >> Yeah. >> I took the picture. After receiving the information, authorities began an urgent area check to reduce [music] any possible risk and help families feel reassured. >> Northbound Fed. Um, they're going over there. Check southbound fed to like 890 north. >> Get out of the vehicle. Stay forward. Face forward. Your hands up. Pass inside the vehicle. Exit. >> Hands up. >> Stand. Stop. Stop. Passenger. Passenger state. Go on the other side of >> just pulling backwards. Yep. You see him? >> Yeah. Step backwards. Step backwards. >> We have a key on the >> van. There should be a child inside that van. >> Charlie, you saying there is a child should be inside that van. If it's one of the same, >> go ahead. They were asked to wait in an official vehicle under stressful circumstances [music] and voiced repeated objections. >> How's it going, man? >> Where are you coming from? >> Work right over here. I'm >> I was just coming from the office. >> Reason we pulled you over is cuz there was a description of a van like yours. >> I was trying to pick up two little kids. >> I just left the office. I'm getting my fish sandwich, right? >> Do you care? Can you just open the door just so we can make sure there's no kids or anything? >> Sorry. It's funny to say that and then my kids they call it the pet of man because it's >> they're going to laugh when they hear that. >> Oh yeah, you're good. >> Have a good one. Thank you. >> She's walking with her son. They're turning and she's telling my kids to come follow her. She's a crackhead. She's literally a crackhead. >> Nope. Stay there. Stay in the car. Get back in the car. >> Where they at? >> I got hit on my list. >> All right. driver. Put your hands out the window. >> Just keep your hands out the window. >> Can you please listen? >> Nope. I'm not going to listen right now. >> Drop your phone. Drop your phone. >> Put it down. Put it down, please. >> I will put it down for you. >> Drop your phone. >> I'm in front of my phone. >> That's your son. >> Yeah, that's my son. >> Oh, no. It's good. It's good. >> All right. You ready for him? >> No. No. Sorry. >> All right. With one hand, open that door. >> Step out. >> Turn towards the van. Turn towards the van. Sure. All right. Do you have any other kids or no? >> Where's father? >> All right, get in. >> What's up, buddy? >> Hello. >> You all right? >> I got the dead as well. >> Keep your hands. >> What's going on? >> Yeah, we'll let you know in a minute. >> Huh? >> She got the injury match. >> What's up, buddy? >> Hey, buddy. >> How's your day? >> Want to step out here? >> Yeah. Here. Step out. I got you. Come here. >> Wait. >> What's going on, man? >> When I call somebody for my son. >> Give me one second. Just going to call. >> I'm getting that vape out of our hand. Can you just tell me where my son's going to go, please? >> Your son's not going anywhere right now. Give me a vape. >> What? What? Hold on. Please. I'm asking nicely. >> My son's not going anywhere. But why am I on an >> Why am I being an I'm just asking. >> So, we get a report, >> okay, >> of a suspicious van, someone matching your description, and I'm assuming that's your boyfriend or your husband? >> My husband. >> What happened? I'm not even going to ask you that. So, we get a report of someone trying to kidnap a child. Okay. So, and you guys match the description to a T. All right. And that's all I can really tell you right now. >> So, we're going to figure this out. >> Uhhuh. >> And we're going to cross the bridge as it comes. >> Okay. That's fine. >> Who is he to you? Is that your boyfriend? >> That's my husband. My son's father. >> You're just standing back there. That's not safe at all. He was standing back in all this. Like, that's not safe. >> Not safe at all. >> Do you have a Florida license? >> In my backpack. in the backpack with the sunflowers. It's in there. >> You pronounce your first name. Diana >> Diana got Diana. Diana. >> Diana. >> Diana. >> Ty. >> T A I. >> Oh, Diana. >> Diana. >> Diana. >> Diana. >> Okay. >> Sorry. It's very complicated. >> That's okay. I'll just give me a few minutes. Right. >> I can discuss the case anytime. >> Where's the kid? >> He's right here. >> He was saying something that that he didn't want to go to DCF and that's why he was back there. >> Kid, make sure he's safe in their car. >> Oh, take him in the car. What? >> Take him to your car. >> You You have your iPad. You said in here >> your iPad. >> No, you don't have it. Okay. >> All right. Come on. >> Yeah. Come on, buddy. >> Huh? >> My iPad? >> No. You're going to have a seat in the car. Okay. Come here. >> Come on. >> Get over here right now, though. >> I'm on Sterling. I'm on Sterling. >> I'll see you here. >> All right. You need to relax. >> Can't use the phone right now. >> Why? >> Being Cuz you're being detained. How am I being detained? For what? >> Cuz you're being detained. Cuz you fit Cuz you fit the description. >> That doesn't matter. That's against the law, bro. >> That's against the law. Y'all didn't even read me my rights. Y'all didn't tell me nothing. >> What's your first thing? >> For what? >> You match the description of a crime. Of a crime. >> Of a crime. Somebody that hit my baby mom in front of my son. >> Baby, relax. >> Hey, I'm answering. You need to ask me answer my questions. Right. >> See in tomato. A I >> ai. >> Both appeared uncooperative, voicing concerns about their personal rights. while the community's primary [music] focus remained the safety of children. >> All right. >> This is This looks nice. >> You like it? >> This is how it looks when you're in jail in the backseat of the cop car. >> Um my question is there was a a report that I was in my child. But was there a report on 19 McKinley that I got my lip buster by a guy? >> That was included. Yeah. >> So he's the one that reported it cuz he was fighting for his sister and I flicked the sister off. Why did he come and push me? >> I don't know. I wasn't there. >> But a cop got the report. A cop was the one that saw what happened and reported it to you guys. A guy on a blue car. >> Blue car >> on a blue truck. >> All right. Well, uh, Tyiana, right? >> Because I want to stay there. Stay in the car. >> I'm on my right. >> We're going to stay in your car. >> You guys put my son in. >> I'm not asking you any incriminating questions. >> I'm going to close the door. If you put your leg in the door frame, you're going to get >> You guys are stealing my son. I'm not stealing your son. >> So, why did you guys put him in that car over there? >> Your foot back in >> to answer my question. >> I see your car. >> We're probably going to do a show up. >> I'll put you in my car. We'll ride over there where where we stopped the car. They're not going to see you. I'm not going to put the window up for you. >> So, you we'll drive by. >> They're going to hold the female up and you're like, "That's her. It's her. It's not It's not >> out. I got to take the part." >> Now, you want to check my right now. You want to turn on your camera or check me now? >> The camera's been >> Y violated my rights, bro. >> My camera's literally inside. >> Y'all violated my rights, bro. You got kids. >> You got kids? >> Do you have kids? >> Okay, >> let's go. >> Got a got things to do, people to see. You know what I do for a living? [ __ ] supervisor, bro. Hold >> on. Let's just make sure. >> I don't have nothing, bro. I wish I did, bro. If I did, I would have >> You don't got anymore. >> Just got out of work, bro. >> And your boots? Nothing? >> Nothing. Got nothing. Can >> you lower the window on this a little bit? I got you. the window down there. >> Once things settled, officers continued working with the parent to gather additional information and clarify [music] the full sequence of events. Stay calm. >> Let's do something. >> And I have a supervisor here right now. Yo, >> when you were here, tell me exactly what happened from my side. >> So, I was in the car. >> Mhm. >> She was leaving, but right before that, I seen my daughter go inside and she's like a face and scared. >> They already had told me a month ago, my daughter felt uncomfortable >> that the lady was trying to talk to her and >> Yeah. Yeah. >> But when she drove off, the lady comes out and starts, "Don't worry, I'mma get you. I'm going to get her. I'm going to get her to you. >> I don't know. Just out loud. So I I'm right here and I'm like >> like what's going on? You all right? And she just started going off going crazy and then she came running and just ran up to me and I told her, "Yo, back up. Back up." And she just kept coming back coming back >> to a point that I wanted to hit her but I didn't I grabbed I was grabbed dirt. I was throw dirt at her but she swung at me and then spit at me as a reaction. Yeah. And as a reaction I just I hit her in the mouth. >> Okay. >> That was her reaction. So right now when I interviewed or not interviewed I talked to your daughter your daughter saying that the lady was like come here come here ask the window. >> That's what I was figuring cuz I remember ago that she felt like you know that she was trying to she was trying to take >> and then he's saying the same thing the stories combined the lady both of them were like trying to get your daughter to come to the van. So that's what they're going to jail for. I had to make sure that like I got your side of the story too. Do you want to press charges for the battery for on you and spitting on you? Cuz you definitely could do that. I could add that charge. >> I don't even >> It's up to you, man. It's all good. They're going to jail anyway, bro. So, it doesn't matter, but it's up to you. >> No, that's fine. >> Okay. So, >> both adults now face charges of luring or enticing a child and causing a child to become delinquent. [music] Under Florida law, a conviction could carry a penalty of up to 2 years in prison. Parental awareness and cooperation with authorities remain the cornerstone of [music] keeping children safe, the most important responsibility of every family and community. When a teenager is overwhelmed emotionally and a parent is under heavy life pressure, what happens when those forces collide and officers are placed in the position of making difficult choices. >> Y'all tell him that I can't say that he can't come in because he lives there. He can destroy anything in my house that he wants. I work a corporate job. >> On September 12th, 2024, responders in Ohio encountered a 16-year-old experiencing serious distress following a tense moment with his mother during a car ride. It began with a disagreement at home after he wanted to visit Cascade Park but was not allowed. The strain continued throughout the drive and the teen's impulsive reactions caused the situation to escalate beyond control. >> Thrown out of the car. >> Oh, somebody threw him out of the Which vehicle? >> He's right there. >> We are. Yeah. >> Oh my god. >> Can you guys stay? >> Yeah. You guys can just pull off like in here somewhere. >> Hey man, what's going on? Bro, I get into a argue with my mom, right? Okay. And we sitting there arguing in the house and then she tried to like she tried to leave. So I'm like let me get in the car like let's have a sit down conversation. So I hop on the door. I hop on the side of the car and she starts speeding all around. >> Where did this happen? >> It happened on to Talby. We said pull out of Talby like and she pulled all the way down here and she knew what she was doing. She whipped it real hard so that I flew off the car. >> You were on that side of the car. Were you on the hood? Were you? >> No. I was like hold. You see the car? It's over there. I was holding on to the side parts right there and she it real hard and threw me off the floor. >> I know. She just She literally just it super hard. She knew what she was doing. >> How old are you? >> I'm 16. >> All right. This 16-year-old male here was thrown out of a vehicle. We still have the vehicle on scene. >> He is going to need EMS. What's your uh Just stay here. We got EMS coming for you. Okay. What's your first name? >> Sit down. >> We got EMS coming. >> Sit down. >> Bro, like if y'all saw how hard she turned, bro. >> Did we get another unit over here? >> What were you guys fighting about? >> We were arguing. Okay. I went to Cascade Park, right? She told me as I was on the bus on the way to Cascade Park that I could not go to Cascade Park. So I told her I said she was going to have to wait an hour for the next bus until I could get home or she was going to have to come and get me. She said all right that's cool. She called me an hour later. I told her I'm in Cascade Village waiting on the bus. >> Okay. >> I said how you in Cascade Village waiting on the bus. I said because the bus didn't come yet. She said no you got to leave right now. I'm on my way to come and get you. I said all right bet. >> Go talk to the mom over there. >> I said all right bet. That's cool. She came and got me. She waited till we got home and then she just started screaming. >> And then all of that I told her I told her this is something my therapist told me. She said, "If we're having a argument and you can't do it at that moment, go tell your tell your mother to come back. I can I" I asked her, "Can I come back to the conversation and walk away?" >> She's a witness if you could get her info. >> I said, "All right, bet." I said that to her. I told her that. I said, "I cannot do this conversation. Can I please come back?" She said, "No." and followed me and followed [snorts] me around the house. >> Okay. And then >> And then we was in the house. We were in the house. She started screaming. She said I wouldn't give a [ __ ] >> and I just started screaming back. >> Okay. >> She got the video on my phone of me screaming. Like I will admit I screamed. I was yelling all of that. Then she was like, "Then I went upstairs and I calmed down and I went upstairs and went to go talk to my friend. But then no, we was downstairs and she was like, "Don't worry about it. After tomorrow, you won't be here tomorrow." So I told her, I said, "If I'm going to not be here tomorrow and you're going to kick me out again, if I won't be here tomorrow and you're going to kick me out again, >> then I just won't be here. I'll disappear." And she was like, "I know you will. That's what you're good for." >> So then got in the car. >> No, no, no, no, no, no, no. I called her. Huh? You heard >> that? >> He was on the outside of a car. She spun the car real quick and threw him off. >> So he's got some rubber burn or road rash down his back and then his feet are all scraped up. >> But then she was like, >> she was like, "Um, what she say?" She was like, "No." I called her. I was like, "Mom, like, am I going to be gone? Like, are you kicking me out?" She did not answer. She just hung up. >> So then I started following her. I was like, "Are you going to kick me out?" That's all I want to know. If you're going to kick me out, say that so I can leave. She didn't want to answer the question. I said, "All right, then." So I followed her to the car. She hurried up and locked the door. So I grabbed on the I started banging on the window. I said, "Just open the door." And then I started banging on the window >> on the passenger side window. >> On the passenger side window. She literally just start She she she started her car up. I said, "All right, bet. Watch this." And I hopped on the side of the car and then we got right there to that light right there at uh uh lover's lane. We got to the lover's lane light and I got off the car, banged on the window. >> So you're standing on the ground, >> you're banging on the window and then >> she didn't want to open the door. Tried to speed off again. Like my feet is under her car and she tried to speed off again. So I hurried up and grabbed on the car cuz I knew my feet was on the the car and I hurried up and grabbed onto the car. So my feet ain't get smooched. >> Okay. >> Are you want to go to the hospital? >> No, I'm cooling. I just need somebody to check this out. >> Um I'm chilling. Mom is over there. She's the other party that this >> But then she was like, she was like, she she was like, she was like, "Uh, no. We get right here. I'm holding on to the car. I'm holding on to the car like this. >> You want him to go? >> I'm chilling. >> We'll talk to mom." But pro probably he got thrown off the car. Mom's the other part. >> I don't feel like broken though. You're not supposed to make the decision. >> It was like I was going like 45. >> That's very fast. That's too fast. >> Yeah. She was going right here. >> So, you grabbed the side when she went to go take off. Then what happened? >> And then she pulled out. She turned real quick right here. tried to throw me off the car again. Then she pulled down here. She pulled right there. And then she pulled right there. As soon as she pulled right there, she heard it. Like you heard the car go. >> Was it on the road in the parking lot? >> It was right here. It was literally in the middle. >> I saw you laying on the street here. >> It was in the middle like right here. >> She tried to like flip a UI almost. >> No, she turned into this street but hard like she hard. >> Witnesses shared similar accounts, remaining unsettled and deeply concerned for the young person's wellbeing. So >> kind of tell me what happened. Did you see what happened? >> Yeah. So me and my sister, I don't know what happened. We're coming down this way. There was a blue van. He's hanging like on the side of it. >> Okay. >> And she's coming from this way. She like she coming this way. He went flying off and she took off down that way. >> Was he on the driver's side or passenger side? >> Passenger side in the back door. >> Outside of the vehicle? >> Yeah, he was outside of the vehicle. >> No doors open, right? >> No doors open. Nothing like that. No windows open. But like he was like, you know how how most vehicles have like that bar up top? >> Yeah, like the rack. Luggage rack. >> He had his hands on that and when she whipped his hand slipped and he just >> Okay. >> Was So you said it was like a minivan. >> Yeah. >> What color? >> Blue. >> Blue minivan. Like a family minivan type thing. >> More like it's kind of darker. It's like >> darker blue. >> I'm like shaking >> and it went down. >> Yeah, they tore off down here. Okay. >> The mother spoke about her son's emotional challenges and acknowledged that her responses were not appropriate, showing how prolonged stress can lead adults to risky decisions when support is lacking. >> How are you? What's going on? Did you see what happened? >> He's my kid. >> Oh, okay. So, what's happening? >> Okay. So, he was hanging on the side of your car. >> Yes, he was. >> Okay. Got it. >> So, um but we all decided like a month and a half ago we stopped. He literally today I've let him do whatever he wanted since he got out of the psychiatric facility. He's been in a wheelb everywhere. He ain't from that. And so I let him do everything that he wanted to do because it ain't nothing I can't stop him from doing because I can't let him tell him he has to leave because he lives there. I can't not tell him he can't come in. Y'all have told him that. Not you specifically, but y'all have told him that time. >> So I just let stuff be what it is. >> Today I told him got off of school. I got out of work. I called him. He said, "Hey mom, I was just about to text you. I'm going to go to the park." Said no. Then every day this week you come home. I go pick the baby up in Robert check his location. He not at home. He's somewhere he ain't got no business in. So I call him. I said, "Didn't I tell you to come home?" "Well, I told you the bus didn't come for hours. Don't [ __ ] me. I know how the bus work." Blah blah blah. I get him home. He go upstairs. I said, "No, no, no. We about to talk about it." Not even on no screaming on I have cameras in my house. I can verify everything. So literally, I tell him, "We about to talk about this." So he's like, I'm like, "You don't get to do whatever you want because people have told you you can do whatever you want. I'm your mom. Like this is what home. If you don't like it, then go somewhere else. But I'm not you're not literally you're not going to do whatever you want. You're not going to. And so he got upset. It's because I made the statement to him. I said, "Tomorrow's payday." He ran it. I have videos, more than an hour worth of a video of him ranting and raving and running through the house talking to himself. Talking to himself. I have three other children besides him. He wasn't allowed back in the house originally because they were scared of him. And now he's literally running around saying that he's scared of me being in the home. He's scared to leave to go to job court because I'm They have fathers who will tell you very differently who I am. So today I said, "You know what? He's been going through the house for like an hour and a half. I'm going to get up. I'm going to take the baby because I don't know what's going to happen. I removed any weapons in the home. They're in my purse. I removed any weapons. I said, "I'm going to just go to my house for a little bit. Maybe stay the night to try to diffuse them." I get up. I walk out the house. He called me. I answer the phone. He said, "So let just answer this question. You about to send me away? You about to send me away?" And I said, "I'm done talking to you. We've been arguing for like 3 hours. I'm done talking." So, I'm going to go ahead and leave. He going to calm down. I'll be back. So, he follows me down the steps. I get out the house. He tries to jump in the car. I lock the door cuz my side was the only one open. I could stay in the car, went back in the house, left my keys, locked the door when he tried to jump in the car. He literally proceeded to jump on top of my car. I tried to fall. I tried to literally fall uh back out the car like quick enough so he could just fall in the grass. Oh, no. He didn't. That didn't stop. So, he literally proceeded to stay on my car from I live on top, right? We hit the corner, turn this way. He was still on top of the car. I looked his light. I put a camera. He jumped down and proceeded to bang on my window like he was about to literally smash my window. So I >> Okay. Well, I'm going to turn this way. He said, "I'm going." He jumped back on the car. I got down here. Now, at this point, I'm not going to lie to y'all. I'm trying to get him off my car because you're doing the most like So, yeah, I just started hard as he fell off the car. But I also literally can show y'all he was hanging on the car. The baby in the back thinking it's a joke and it's a game. He's literally hanging off my car. >> It was not just you two in the car. Sorry, I walked. I believe there was another child in the car. >> Yeah, I have a three-year-old. >> Old man? >> Yes. Okay. >> Uh, have you told his dad yet or anything? I don't know. >> His father's >> Okay. >> I've been going through like this this stuff for years. This isn't the first time. This isn't the last. >> He said he's supposed to be on meds, but he's not taking them. >> He's not very He doesn't want to go down. He does it cuz because >> so you're his mom and he's not old enough. But we're at a predicament where you guys were at home. >> I know. This is where I'm always stuck at when he he kicked my door in. I have a hole in my living room wall right now because he kicked my door in. But I wasn't allowed to tell him he wasn't allowed to come home. He literally just told me. I just got I'm allowed to finally work from home after a year of being at First Energy. He literally told me he was about to go downstairs and smashers got my job to save me yesterday and smash every camera in the house. >> Okay. All right. I don't know what I'm supposed to do at this point. So, somebody got to give me some He's 16. >> Has he had any kind of mental health diagnosis? >> Yes. He just got out of psychiatric facility a couple months ago. He spent uh 6 months. >> He hasn't been taking his meds. She said, >> "What has the doctor said about all that?" That's like, "Has this kind of behavior happened before prior to?" All right. What did they say? >> You can pull police reports on. >> What What did they say prior to? >> He had a problem with authority. >> What did they say if he's not taking meds? Like, what was their solution? >> To just take him off because he can't. He goes to Children's cuz y'all can check those records. He's been there about a good 15, 20 times. He goes to Children's after we have an outburst like this. They say, "Hey, after I sit there for 12 hours, they say, "Hey, you know what? He's okay. You guys can go home." I know now to pull cameras out and start recording everything because I never leave when I tell them about me. >> She's literally got a recording of him on the side of the car. Like, she's banging on it like before she even goes and then jumps on it and watch. >> This is at the corner right here. the the the paramedic said it was he was in need to be seen because he was in but he was in the middle of the street rolling around. >> Do you want to get the three-year-old's info too just cuz she was in you were in the car as well? >> Like literally when I when I where did this start from? How long was I at? I literally he was on the side all the way from >> the team became highly distressed when a wellness check was discussed reflecting the fear and instability of a child under intense family pressure. that you were having a violent episode before all this stuff happened and she was trying to get away from you. >> No, she wasn't. She chased me in my room. She chased me to my room and said, "We're going to have this conversation because I'm an adult and I can talk to you about exactly what she said." >> So, you're at odds with her. She's your mom and you can't make the decisions. Have to take you out of the hospital. >> Devonte, [cough] come over [clears throat] here. >> Devonte, come here. >> Devonte, >> yo, come here. I'm not playing with you. Come over here. Come over here and all that. I'm not going. >> Come on. >> I'm not going to the hospital. I'm not going to the hospital. I can't go to the hospital. I'm not going to that hospital. I'm not going to relax. I'm not going to the hospital. Relax. Right now, this is what's going to happen. >> I'm not going to hospital right now. >> Stop talking and listen. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. >> Okay. Let's take the hospital out of it for a moment. I'm going to have you take a seat now, Cruiser. Let's see what's going on with mom. You're not in trouble, but you are 16 and I cannot have you walk away. Okay. Take the hospital the picture right now. Understand? Let's go see the car. >> Let's go ahead. >> Come on. >> I can't relax. Look at my arms. >> That's why we got to make sure you're just hang out for a minute. Have a seat in the backseat of this cruiser real quick. Okay. Make sure you don't have any. I got >> you want your window down. >> No, I'm going to put in the front right now. You want your window down? >> Really? She just sat there and kept screaming at me. So, I walked away and then she said I wouldn't get that. That's when I really started yelling cuz that my film and I kept saying that my film. But I never was I the only time I was actually like talking to her is the video she got in her phone of me talking to her. Any other time I was screaming in my room. I was not screaming at her. I wasn't trying to make her feel unsafe. I was screaming in my room so that she did not feel unsafe. She kept bringing up the fact that my siblings is scared of me. She kept calling me out of my name saying I was a whole bunch of [ __ ] I will never be in my life. I'm not going to do this with my life. So I didn't and I was not attacking her. I did not do anything to her. She literally just sat there followed me around making me feel less than. And I kept telling her that's not okay for you to do as a mother. Like y'all ain't just like y'all ain't see how she hit that corner. She hit that corner. >> That's what I heard. >> She like you heard the >> heard man. That's what I heard. She turned it hard, made me fling off and then sped down that street while everybody pulled up to stop. >> Right. That's what I heard, man. That's why it's like I think they want you to just at least go get checked out. >> No, but she's going to tell them that I can't confirm. >> Sorry about that. That's not up to her, bro. That's going to be up to the doctors. You know what I mean? >> She's going to tell them like she does not want me in her custody no more and she wants me. That's why that's why she want me to go to the hospital. >> She's going to get charged with child care. I'm tired of these. >> Officers listened carefully to both sides and emphasized that regardless of how overwhelming life becomes, a child's safety must remain the top priority. Their firm action was focused on prevention, not P. >> All right. Go ahead and put your hands on your head for me. Okay. Is >> it right there? >> What am I getting arrested for? >> We'll explain it all to you. >> Can she be bonded out to her? >> Uh, no. She'll have to go to >> I have never been a gentleman. Are you serious? >> Okay. >> All right. Listen, while he's doing that, I'm going to read this to you. Okay. >> You serious? While he's do while he's checking out here, >> calm down. >> Are you serious? >> No. >> You got anything on you that I need to worry about? >> No, I don't. >> You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say, canon will be used against you in a court of law. >> Listen, I got to read this to you. Okay, >> listen. >> Anything you say, canon will be used against you in a court of law. You have the right to talk to a lawyer and have him or her present with you while you're being questioned. If you cannot afford to hire a lawyer, one will be appointed to represent you before any questioning if you wish. You can decide at any time to exercise these rights, not answer any questions or make any statement. Do you understand each of these rights I've explained to you? >> Are you serious? >> Do you understand each of these rights I've explained to you? >> Yeah. >> Having that in mind, can we have a conversation? >> Are you serious? >> Having that in mind, can we have a conversation? >> Everything. Go ahead. >> I I need a yes or a no. Okay. >> Yes. >> Okay. All right. That is your son over there, right? Okay. It's my understanding there was some sort of verbal altercation in Talbet, right? >> Correct. >> Where you guys live. And then what happened from there? How did we get to the car? >> I can show y'all. He's My son has my phone. I tried to leave the house with the baby. I put the baby in the car. I literally tried to I got cameras. Y'all can see everything at my house. I came outside and he literally proceeded to chase me to my car and start baming on the windows to try to get in the car because I would not answer a question. And then I proceeded to drive down the driveway. He hung on to my car. I told him to get off. I screamed like 15 times to get off of my car. So I turned the corner. He proceeded to not get down. He got down at the corner. >> At which corner is >> at that corner on video on my phone. >> The light. >> Yes. The lovers got off of my car and then proceeded to bang on the windows and I tried to drive off cuz the car wasn't there and he jumped back on. I just showed him on my phone. >> Okay. And then what happened? >> I turned the corner so he could get off my car. What do you mean? How fast do you think you were going from lovers down to here? >> Honestly, I'm not going to lie. I don't know. >> Okay. Would you say over 30? >> I don't know. >> Going fast, going slow. I mean, were you going like five and then you turn the corner track? >> I'm going five. I cannot give you an exact answer because I was not looking. >> Okay. So, you were moving, right? >> Absolutely. >> Okay. So, what you're going to be charged with is domestic violence and dang children >> and probably probably vehicular cuz here's the thing. I understand. Yes, I am. So, here's the thing. You are mom. Okay. Is that a smart decision to pull off going extremely fast? >> I've called the police 15, 20, 30 times about all of this. >> Did you call us today? >> No, I didn't. I tried to leave. Hey, y'all know what y'all tell me when y'all come. >> You live right on the corner, right? TELL ME. >> NO, I DON'T. THAT'S NOT MY HOUSE. I live three houses down on the left side >> cuz I'm trying to think there's there's another >> they moved a while ago. >> Okay. Like this is like must siblings have been scared to be in the house. >> And I understand that if you're driving down Arlington, if you called us or even if you sat in your car until he got there or you put down the street, the fact he's on your car, you have knowledge he's on your car, you fly down Arlington and whip it down there. There's witnesses that saw it. >> Do you know what happens when I call y'all? Y'all tell me that it doesn't matter what he does in my house. I can't tell him he can't come because he's my kid. Y'all tell him that I can't say that he can't come in because he lives there. He can destroy anything in my house that he wants. I work a corporate job. I have four kids. >> What happens if you would have turned there? He would have fell off that and got hit by a >> Why didn't he think of that when he dropped on my car? Where's the >> Why did you think of that when you flew down Arlington and turned? >> Because there was a person on my car trying to break my window. >> Child, ma'am, your child, >> right? Yes, it was. But what what does that mean when he jumps on my car? I'm not even trying to be insane, but literally, I've been going through this for years, and I HAVE BEEN BEGGING Y'ALL FOR HELP. >> OKAY. >> BEGGING. >> LISTEN, I understand you're not getting help. out for help for years. You still got out of a psychiatric facility. >> The decision you made tonight was not a smart one. Your child could have got and then you would be being charged with murder or attempted murder. >> I understand you're frustrated. Call us. I know. >> DON'T TELL ME Y'ALL CAN'T do nothing. Check the police report. >> I believe you because yes, he is your child. You have to let him in your house. Yes, he damages things in your house and there's nothing permanently that we can do. However, driving down Arlington at a fast rate of speed and flying down a side street and your kid off your car is not a smart decision. So, tonight that's what you're going to jail for. So, we're going to have you take a seat in the back of this cruiser. >> All right, let's go back here. >> You're confident there's nothing else on here? >> Yeah. We're going to we're going to search you one more time just to double check. All right. Just stay right there. >> Nothing else on you other than what I grabbed. Start up here. I don't have any. >> Go down to her waistband. She has a place back here or something. Okay. It's a search. She's going to jail. Check her pockets. You put your hand in these pockets. Pull them out. >> Okay. The small one. The back one. You have to check all these things. She has crocs off. So, you could ask her to step back and pick one croc off at a time. You can visually see that there's nothing in there. You can have her step right back in. >> I'm about to lose everything. >> Okay. Do you want to go ahead and pop here? >> I have to call my son father. >> Appropriate protective steps were taken while waiting for the father to arrive, ensuring the teen would be cared for in a more stable environment. >> I don't think that's not up to even us. Okay. >> Preferred things that we have. >> So, um, we got to do some paperwork. Mom, yes, she's getting in trouble for this. Okay. >> It's not your fault. >> No, I don't want her to go to the party. We She has to be with my brother. That's >> Listen, his his dad's going to come get him. Okay. Dad of the baby. >> Where's Storm? >> She is going to jail. >> For how long? >> I don't know. She's going to have to go to court. Uh what's today? Tomorrow. >> The mother was charged [music] with domestic violence, child end, and potentially vehicular assault. Under Ohio law, she could face up to 3 years in prison. This story stands as a humane reminder that emotional strain requires timely [music] support. A routine concern at a local store quickly unfolded into a serious sequence of events due to unmanaged reactions. Come out. On April 20th, 2023, responders were called to a Walgreens after a report involving a possible store policy issue while a child was waiting in a vehicle. When the woman noticed official presence, she left the area, setting off a tense situation. Hey. Hey, dear. >> Here's the here's the long and short of it. Walgreens is saying you stole a bunch of stuff from him. We're going to bring the witness out, and if she said IDs you as the person who she says stole it, we're going to search your car. >> Okay. >> Is there anything in your bag that you took from Walgreens that you haven't paid for? >> No. >> Okay. We're going to uh bring them out here and you're you're going to go to jail and your kids are going to go >> if you stole if you stole. If you want to sit here and lie to us, >> please go. >> All right. I'm going to go get I'm going to go get the witness and I'm going to go talk to them real quick. >> All right. We need you to come over and ID her as the person you say took stuff. Do you have it on camera or anything or >> I do, but I can't get it today. >> But you saw her taking things. All right, go ahead and jump in the back. As soon as you ID her as the person who did it, we're going to search her car and if we find her, are you guys going to press charges? >> Yeah. >> Okay. All right. Hop in the back. >> Second shot. >> Okay. >> Yep. >> That's her. Okay. Sit tight for a sec. Send it in, guys. [music] Get out of the car. GET OUT OF THE CAR. GET OUT [screaming] OF THE CAR. Get out of the car. Get the hell out of the car. Guys, get them out of the car. >> Okay, >> let go. Let's go. >> That is the dumbest thing I've ever seen. I SWEAR TO GOD. >> OKAY, I WILL. >> WELL, that's because you're not listening. >> All right, time for extra patience. guys. >> Oh my god. >> After several stressful minutes, officers focused on ensuring the woman's physical and emotional well-being while following standard procedures, eventually bringing the matter to a calmer resolution. >> Okay. Okay. >> There's nothing keeping you in the car except you. Put your sit there. >> Guys, guys, guys, guys, guys, please hold down. I have really bad PTSD, please. I don't care. Just get out of the car. >> Okay. Okay. [crying and laughter] I can't I need to call my husband to get them. >> You're going to jail. Felony child injuring. We'll sit here. I don't care. One striking detail was that the children remained composed throughout while the mother continued to display strong emotional reactions. >> I am walking child injuring a looting felony. >> Tell them the truth, please. >> Yeah, I'll tell him you try to kill him tonight. How about that? Kill in the AMBULANCE GUY, PLEASE. ALL RIGHT. Blink your eyes. Stop moving it with your fingers. Blink your eyes. Blink. Blink. >> Don't touch it with your fingers. Officers were called about concerning household items, but their greatest worry was a child who appeared increasingly overlooked. >> You don't remember what month? Okay. Uh, do you know what town we're in? >> On February 14th, 2025, authorities visited an apartment after receiving reports about unsuitable items in a home with children along with signs that one child was not doing well. At the scene, the mother explained the situation as related to her son's learning challenges. Does he have medical issues? But no, >> never been diagnosed with anything. >> Okay. No. Today he was he's telling me that he couldn't see straight. He got having problems with death perception and he was seeing like shadows in front of his eyes or something. And that's the first time he's ever said anything like that. >> Just today. >> Is he on medications or anything like that? >> No. >> Alcohol, anything like that today? >> I haven't seen him drinking today, but I know he has. I know not to say as far as I know I can't >> but he doesn't have like problems with or alcohol >> out of the ordinary >> I'm not trying to get him in trouble just want to make sure he >> cuz he couldn't see straight I was like he was talking like he was having a dog or anything wrong >> yeah okay >> there we are in the bathroom little hallway >> walk out here and sit down >> how old is he 19. >> Has he been to the doctor in the last couple years? >> Had a checkup or anything other than a broken arm a couple years ago. I had no idea what that was coming out of. I was like, "What?" >> Are you mom? Has he been acting normal? >> No. Today he was complaining that he couldn't see straight and he was having trouble with maybe half an hour or so before that. >> So, no idea about what could have caused this. So, >> no. He just told me that he was seeing things when his vision was off. >> Is he a diabetic? No. He's never been diagnosed with anything. I've been trying to encourage him to eat more and eat healthy and drink water. >> Where's he been all day? >> He's been here all day. As far as I know, slept late and got up high around noon. And there was one time I conscious. When I was a kid, I had drank too much and fell over and yesterday been all day. >> So, did you hear the door in the bathroom? Yeah, it was pretty loud. Good. And then >> there's a going to take your temperature in your ear. >> I can't find anything. It's just all looks like it's coming up to 99.9. >> Okay. >> 118 93%. >> Do you know where you are right now? >> Where you are? Where are you? >> I have your house. Perfect. Do you know what month it is? Do you mind if I look in the bathroom where you got >> You don't remember what month? Okay. Uh, do you know what town we're in? >> What troubled the team most was the lack of close supervision as the mother struggled to provide even basic information about her child. >> It's more than alcohol. >> What' you say? >> It's yours. >> Didn't does he have a cell phone? >> No, >> he doesn't have a phone. >> He uses my own phone. >> Okay. He doesn't have anything. So he doesn't have a phone number. >> Fell forward and hit your face. Have any pain anywhere about dizziness? >> What's your middle name? >> A spelled funny. >> I never spell it. >> You don't know how to spell your middle name? >> Weird spelling. I don't know how to spell it. A c or something like >> is it on your driver's license? >> Yeah. You want my driver's license? >> If you have it, I'll take it. Sure. Does he work or do anything like that? Does he have jobs? >> Started at the new Pizza Hut. >> New Pizza Hut. Nice. So, I want you to be real straight with me. You clearly he's using something. Do you know what it is? >> I haven't seen him do anything. >> I'm not asking if you've seen anything. What do you know him using in the past? >> That's it. He's not taking like pills like or anything like that that you know of. >> I'm not here to get him in trouble right now. He needs medical care and that's important for them. Okay. >> I really do. >> Okay. You don't even talk. >> And he's not getting in trouble with me by any means. I'm asking this because it's important for his safety, right? >> This is not what or alcohol does. Okay. >> Okay. So, you think that he's maybe been doing something besides those two things? And how long have you been worried about that? Gosh. >> Okay. Has he gotten in trouble in school because of it or anything like that? >> He quit school. Okay. So, he didn't graduate from Adel then. Okay. Do you have any suspicions of what it could be? >> Okay. Have you found it in the house by chance? I would I would scream out if I was >> so I never really cared about them. >> You know, not as bad as those other things and but I am happy. >> Is he is dad involved in it or >> he's not involved in our life >> at all? Okay. So, he wouldn't be getting it from dad or anybody like that. >> I would know. I don't know what these kids do. They talk to >> I hear you. I hear you. But, you know, he lives in your house. You know, you can go through his stuff. that that's not happening. >> I've never seen any evidence of it not hearing. >> Okay. So, do you know what evidence of use would look like? >> All right. Let's go. >> So, you're you're well versed in it. >> I know what it looks like. I know it's much if I had him. >> So, like if he was smoking it, you would know if he was Okay. So, you don't think that he smoked it tonight? >> No. He's been here all night. So, I wouldn't think he's just as if his eyes look funny because he didn't see straight and then he fell down. >> They discovered unsafe objects within the child's reach. Although the mother said they were for personal use, keeping them accessible still created serious safety and [music] responsibility concerns. >> Okay, so got plain view and pipe. Mom admitted it was hers. I got a little baby, not a baby, but a little kid. Other kid that had a seizure is definitely going to be transported. He's not with it. I'm assuming that I'm just talking it through. Probably going to have to get a search warrant if mom's not going to give consent to search the rest of the house. probably going to have to book her on child. Are you guys transporting? I would assume. >> Yeah. He's not answering questions, right? >> All right, Mom. Um, we're going to be taking him into the hospital. He needs checked out. He's not answering us correctly. I just don't feel comfortable leaving. >> Can I have you go have a seat over there for me just for a second? Okay. So, we can talk to mom. Okay. So, there's obviously a few things we need to address. Before we go ahead and do that, I'm just going to go ahead and read you something here. Okay. Do you understand those rights that I've read to you? Okay. We officers found this in plain sight. Okay. You said it was yours. I just picked it up right before I heard you fall. Yeah, it's mine. >> So, you're planning on using it tonight before he fell? >> Yeah. >> Yeah. >> It's kind of a medical thing that I'm not diagnosed with. >> You don't have a prescription or anything for it? Okay. Is there anything else in the house like that? Anything more? >> I don't even I have a little little hiding bit left, I think. But >> where was that? >> Just another pipe and a >> Just another pipe. That's >> a pipe up there. Is there anything in the house that we need to know about >> or weapons or anything >> or anything that that's just that's what you had little bit I'm not I'm not a criminal we're not saying that >> but obviously there comes an issue when we have this in the presence of children right and I understand that you're probably dealing with some things and a lot of it was for medical reasons but this is not a state pet especially if you don't have a prescription so you said there's nothing else in the No more. No more pipes. No paria. >> I have if if he's got something back there that I mean I haven't. >> And whose room is this? >> It's my room. >> Where's his room? Back there. Can we go look at it? Yeah. >> This is your house. This is your property. Okay. So, to an extent, you know. Yeah, I get that he's older, but he still lives in your house. So, a little bit responsible for what he brings in the house. Okay. So, if you want to show us and you'd be okay with just showing us where he resides. >> This would be his room. Yeah. >> Okay. Okay. >> But you're suspecting other usage besides >> Yeah, I've for a while seeing kids grow, but >> he's he seems kind of underweight, [snorts] >> more than usual and and all the scabs and picking and you know, he sleeps normally. I mean, I don't I don't understand that. But >> yeah, >> but I'm not I'm not an expert either. I know what it looks like. I don't know what it smells like, but I mean, >> so, but so because of [snorts] the other concern here is you've got a little little one. Okay. She's what, nine? >> She's eight. >> Eight. Okay. Imagine if she walked into brother's room one day when brother wasn't home and found a needle or anything else to the amount that he was using. That have some serious consequences. I know you don't go in there or like, so you say, but like I mean, have you ever seen needles just being left out on accident? Have you ever seen him carry things in? Even if I find beer cans laying around or anything like that, I tell him I don't want alcohol here. I've seen empty liquor bottles before and I tell him that he's not I don't allow anything. I know that he smoked. >> Yeah. >> And that's, you know, for influence and everything, but never allowed anything else. >> And he is 19, correct? >> Yes. >> Okay. >> Do you know who he'd possibly be getting from? >> I don't know his friends. >> You don't know his friends at all? >> I don't want to come over here. >> Okay. Okay. So, no one's coming and going from the house. >> They're not supposed to anyways. >> Is he coming and going from the house pretty often? >> Not much. He'll leave for a little while at night and come back, but he's not in and out in and out in any means. >> Well, I hate to be the bearer of bad news. >> No, it's not. >> This is not normal kid stuff. Okay. >> It's been worrying me for a while. >> Well, I would say tonight is probably the tipping point of that where this has probably come to a head. Okay. So, I think we got to address the elephant in the room. What do you suppose the uh scale is for? >> Something. >> What would he possibly be weighing in his room? >> That figure. I don't >> Does he have access to a vehicle? >> Just my truck, but I don't let him drive. He He doesn't come and go. He doesn't have a license. >> And you don't have people coming and going from your house at all hours of the night? >> No. >> And he doesn't have a driver's license. >> No. >> I don't He's not any kind of a dealer or anything. >> Not suggesting it. I'm just, you know, curious about his habits. >> I understand. He's he he doesn't come and go and nobody comes here cuz I don't I don't allow people here cuz we tried that long time ago and it didn't work. >> Yeah. He doesn't have access to your truck. >> No. No. He doesn't like have a key or anything. He can't just take it. The only time he's ever driven is if I send him to the grocery store. >> And when he leaves, you said in the middle of the night, does someone show up and pick him up? Usually. >> No. >> Then how does he leave? Does he have a bike? >> He just goes cuz he has skateboard. >> He has a skateboard. I don't know where he's going with a skateboard in the middle of winter. What's up, sis? >> As the conversation continued, several indicators suggested the boy had been facing difficulties for quite some time, noticeable changes in [music] physical condition, unusual behavior, and constant tiredness. Sadly, these warning signs had not received timely attention from the family. >> Can I come into your room? >> Yes. >> Awesome. >> Hold on. You're fine. You got the big room. >> Yeah, I have lots of toys. >> You sure do. How did you manage to switch the big room? This used to be my nana's room and then my sister took it and now it's my room and >> and now it's your room and it's all your toys. Holy cow. Look at all of those. Which is your favorite toy over here? >> I kind of like this one cuz it has a zipper on it. >> Is it supposed to be like a chocolate chip bag? Oh, it's got cookies. That's so cool. >> Mini squishy cookies and like different faces. >> Awesome. And do you like hanging out with brother? Yeah, cuz every night he lets me have the phone and I watch YouTube on it. >> Does he babysits while mom works? >> Yeah. >> And where does brother hang out when mom's gone? In his room or does he like hang out with you too? >> Uh he just sits in his room all night >> and all I do is uh play on the phone. >> Yeah. Silly boys. >> One time when he was like younger. >> Mhm. >> Um >> Yeah. >> He had a and he accidentally with his friends he accidentally show like When? How long ago was that? >> I have no idea. >> And you knew it was a BB? >> Yeah, I have a picture on my mom's white camera or I think on her phone like the BB sitting inside of my little um Jeep. It's a tiny miniature Jeep that's outside. >> The B was in the Jeep. >> Yeah, we have like a far away photo and a close-up video. >> Does he still have the BB gun? >> No, >> we we went to the police officer station and he doesn't have it anymore. >> Got it. All right, hang tight for me. Okay, I'm going to go talk to mom out here. Okay. You want to hang out in here for a little bit? >> You want his big thing? Maybe he's smoking something out of that. >> Is that what was in the bathroom? >> Yeah. I don't know nothing about those either. >> Okay. Well, we Well, >> feel free to look around. I already showed you what I have. >> Listen, I mostly I look around for my safety. I don't want, you know, knives, things like that to be left out. Anything that could hurt me, you little one, things like that. Just while I'm here. Does he normally keep large in his room? >> I'll just put it there just so it's out of there. Okay. >> Weird things. I don't question him much. He's not or anything like that. He's he's really stubborn when you ask him questions. He's always been like that, >> but he he ate a criminal. >> When did you start noticing him start losing weight? Has he always been smaller statured or was he a little bit heavier said at one point? Not in like a obese way, but >> a good bit of baby fat on him before he got that tall. And I just figured he stretched out like the other kids do cuz I see other kids way skinny things and super tall and when they >> Yeah. Well, there's I would say >> he doesn't gain any weight either and scabs and he's not eating. You said >> he doesn't he eat like maybe like one meal a day or something. I've been trying to get him to do three meals a day and stuff and >> and he's got scabs. Where are they at? >> He's got scabs all over his body. I never knew anybody like that, but I always heard stories of >> And you said it's been like two years. >> Two years. He started losing weight two years ago and he just keeps getting skinnier >> and he's lived with you the entire time. >> Okay. >> Talked about tripping before. So I don't know if it's maybe you messing around with mushrooms or something. I don't know if that makes you pass out falling before, but I know he's talked about that. >> Okay. >> I wouldn't know. >> What time did he start mentioning that he couldn't cease quite straight? That was earlier this afternoon. Probably about 2:00ish. >> 2:00ish. >> And then yesterday he was talking about how he didn't feel good and he looked really pale and he took some Nyquil and went to >> So 2:00 today was seeing a dark line in his eyes. >> I mean I was one thing. I mean it's not legal, but it's one thing. And you know that's just a different step up if you think that that's what it's probably is. >> Yeah. Alcohol can mixing all that stuff together >> makes it even worse. Sure does. And then you said yesterday he said he wasn't feeling good. >> Acted like he had a head cold or something. >> With multiple issues in the home left unresolved, the mother faced formal accountability steps while the other children were temporarily placed in their grandmother's care. >> How long has your son been drinking? >> Perfect. Do you go in his room very often? >> He kind of just stays by himself in his room. Yeah. I just want to show you what I found in his room. I don't know how often you see a room or not. So, aside from what you showed me, what is yours? We have vapes. We have pipes. Some little bit of just very little bits of obviously we've used it. Numerous vapes. Do you know how he gets them? You don't? >> I don't go in his room. I don't really ask him much either. He doesn't he doesn't question. I talk to him. It's just cuz he just closes up and doesn't talk. >> This is something he's always dealt with. >> Yeah. His probation officer couldn't get a word out of me. What's he on probation for? >> No, he was when he was not anymore. He killed when he was younger. >> I'm going to be straight up with you, okay? I'm not here to lie to you or do anything like that. We obviously found with the fight. And my biggest concern is that little girl of yours in there. It's called child. So, with that, I will be placing under arrest for those. Okay. Do you understand that? As far as what was found in your son's room, I'm just seizing it right now. Obviously, other things are happening with him right now. It's probably appropriate to put him under arrest right now. Again, I'm just teasing it at the time. If we move forward with something, we'll let you know. But right now, my main concern is with what we found with you in the house and your daughter there. I'm not going to put you in cuffs right in front of her right now. What I am going to do is there anything on you that's going to poke or stick me or any more or anything like that? No. I'm just going to do a quick pat down. So, for right now, I'm just going to have you have a seat in my car. You'll be able to say goodbye to your daughter. Is someone going to pick her up or just stay with her? >> She She should be here in like a couple minutes. I'm going to start my paperwork in here. You can have a seat in the back. I won't put you in handcuffs right now because that's going to be uncomfortable for you. And speak to your daughter back here. It's your daughter, correct? >> Yes. >> Okay. And your first name? Ava. >> Ava. I'm supposed to work with it and then put your stuff in Daniel's room. So I I have to get charged with possession. >> Okay. What does that mean? >> It's okay. Take a deep breath. I know this is a lot. She's under arrest. We're going to take her down to Dallas County Jail. She'll get processed there. I don't know if there's going to be a bond. There might be. You can just call down to the jail or she can call you when she's done and you guys can figure out what to do from there. Okay. As far as bonding her out or something like that. Okay. >> Have you heard anything about Daniel? >> I haven't. I was here when they when they took him to the hospital. He seemed fine. He had something in his system. What it is, we don't know. But they're going to work on making sure he gets the care he needs. But he seemed okay and I guess healthy is probably a great word. He was able to people were talking with him. He wasn't really making a whole lot of sense, >> but I think there's just some things in his system that shouldn't be. I'm assuming he should be okay, but I don't want to tell you he is, but I think he just took some things that he shouldn't have, and he's where he needs to be. >> Okay. >> Okay. If you just want to you give her a hug if you want to go inside and um be with your granddaughter. >> Okay. Okay. I will. >> I'm going to tell you right now, it's not the end of the world. You're not a bad person. Okay. It's just bad decisions tonight. Okay. Okay. And she's a wonderful mother. >> I know. I know she is. We hate doing this, but you know, >> you're doing your job. I understand. I do. I understand. >> If you want to go inside and relieve the officer in there and take care of granddaughter. All right. >> Honey, I'll wait for your call whenever. Okay. >> Grandma's here. Let's go. Let her in. Come here, pup. Hi. >> DON'T WET YOURSELF. >> Who am I? >> Yep. So, it sounds like it's going to be you two for the evening so far. Can't give you much right now, obviously. Um, I understand. She told me what she could. >> But other than that, um, I've got something for feed in my car. I'm going to go out and get it and I'm bring it back. Okay. >> Okay. >> Hang tight. You got to let me back in and shut the door so that way the doggy doesn't get out. >> And your cat's coming back. There you go, ma'am. This is for you. >> So, there you go. You got some stuff to do tonight. >> Yay. Thank you. >> You're so very welcome. Well, you have fun with Nana tonight. Okay. >> I can try. >> All right. I think you can do it. She seems pretty cool. All right. No problem. Take care. Have a good evening, you guys. All right, I'm out of here. >> Bye-bye. >> Bye-bye. >> She was charged with childment, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of related items. Under Texas law, she could face a sentence ranging from 2 to [music] 10 years in prison. This story is a humane reminder that responsibility, care, and parenting awareness are not just legal expectations, but the foundation for protecting a [music] child's future. Shortly after, another infant was found locked in a car outside a bar. There's nothing stopping them from those two people walking by. They wholeheartedly wanted to take the car. They could. >> On July 18th, [music] 2025, Flaggler County police received an emergency call. A 6-month-old infant was left alone in a car for an extended period while the mother went into a bar looking for the father. Police immediately arrived, collected witness statements, [music] and began urgent intervention. >> Smash the windows and make sure the kids are okay. >> So, we know who this person is. The car comes back to Norman Finan and his wife is called Reese. >> I'm going pull it up and I'm going to get a picture and then we're going to go in there and talk to them cuz that's not a good thing. Hey, is the baby okay? >> Yeah. >> The mother, Clarice Finnegan, appeared and shortly after the father, Norman Finnegan, also came out. Police immediately intervened to carry out the necessary legal procedures. >> I'm going to jail. >> We're going to talk about that. Give me a minute. Turn around. Put your hand on your back. >> I know. I told him I just come here to cuss. I come here to get cash from you cuz I don't work and I have to My phone is over there. Can you please? >> Your phone's in the >> like I said and then check the baby real fast. >> Don't let the kid on the floor. >> I had to just beat last. >> Hey, it's okay babe. It's okay. I told him I need to get cash from you cuz they were here with the friend, you know, and I came here to get cash. He's a little bit stressed out so I let him go out. Can we please grab my phone? I'm not going anywhere >> in the mall. >> Yeah, cuz I had to. I just quit here because I didn't know. I had to I cannot bring him to the bathroom cuz there's smoking bar, you know. I don't like you know, but there's smoking bar. So, I had >> Did you guys come here together? >> No, it was here and then I come here cuz I needed the cash. >> Which one's your vehicle? >> This one. His is black one, I believe. Over there. He got here like maybe 3 hours. You got here 3 hours ago, right? Yeah. And I said I want to get cash to get a baby stuff for teing. >> I get that. But at no point is it okay to leave a child in the car. Yeah, but the smoking bar, so I can't bring him over there. I had But you put me like this. It's not like I'm going to run. >> You want to come to your trunk real quick and I can just have you lean up against the car so I don't have to hold you like this the whole time. >> You can hold me how you want. But I do have my phone over there cuz I I go faster here to check on my baby and I forgot my phone. >> We're going to talk to you guys in a minute. Sir, I don't need you I don't need you talking to her. We We're going to talk to both of you in a minute. >> A smoking bar. I cannot bring the baby in there. That's why I run faster. >> It doesn't matter if it was a smoking bar. I hugged the >> couple had a dispute in front of the officers. >> Just to confirm, it was already here when you guys got here. >> Yes, it was. >> Do you mind raising your right hand for me? Do you swear affirm the statement to be the truth to the best of your knowledge? >> Yes. >> Do you guys have a great night? Thank you so much. >> Am I going through here? >> So, we're going to talk about all that in a minute. I don't want to ask you any direct questions about the situation cuz some of the questions may be selfinccriminating. So, I need to >> Okay, no problem. >> Just make sure he's okay. >> Yeah, the child's okay. That's the first thing we did when we got here. feel really bad. I have to do >> I can fix the cups for you. >> I was in the bar to get you. >> Okay. Like I said, we're going to talk about that in a minute. >> I have bad back problems. I was a first responder at 911. >> Okay. Turn around. Okay. >> I was at the bar. She came to get me. She was here maybe 5 minutes and I was paying my cab. >> I will talk to you in a moment about >> We're going to swap out the way real quick. Okay. >> You are allowed. >> Well, it's my fault for coming here. He was here 3 hours ago with the the friend. I let him go cuz he's a little bit stressed out for the day. I let him go here, but for me and the baby wake up and starts eating so he keeps crying. What I do is make a ride in. I had to pee and get cash from him. >> Do not talk to her. I already >> She's my wife. >> I don't care. She's your wife. You both are being detained right now. You're not going to be screaming over at her. >> But you have no right to talk to her right now. >> She's an adult. She can make adult decisions. >> Clearly, she's also my wife. So any statement that she makes without you reading her rights is inadmissible in court. You can come this way. >> I was sitting there and she came to get me my phone and why are you so mad at me? >> I'm not. You're not listening to directions. We are conducting an investigation. >> And she came in to get me. As I'm paying a tab, your officer walks in and says Tom Finnegan. I say yes. Come with me. >> Face the trunk. There you go. Spread your feet. You got anything on that's going to poke me, stick me? >> No. Not that I believe. >> I think it's easier if you go above first. >> Yeah, I know. All right. >> You're a little bit of a taller guy. >> Hold on. Oh god. >> Hang on. Hang on. Hang on. Hang on. You got to put your hands behind you. can't sit on your hands. There you go. >> When her Miranda rightites were read, the mother began to explain. Stay tuned to hear her reason. >> I'm just going to read you something, okay? And then, like I said, we can discuss the situation, okay? I don't want to discuss them until I read you this. So, you have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a portable. Do you understand these rights as I've explained them to you? >> Yes. >> With these rights in mind, are you willing to answer my questions now? >> How did we get to where we're at right now? where there is both of you inside of a bar because >> and there's a child in the car. >> It's like before I even got pregnant, it's already I was known with everyone like say hi first before I leave and then I asked him if he's ready. He's trying to pay his bill, you know, the paper. Yes, tab. He's trying to pay that and we were leave. I think they were ready. I went to pay and then leave my phone in the table where he's sitting at. And then I run here because the baby is alone. So I was going to grab it back just to make sure he's okay. >> Why is the baby alone in the car? because I couldn't bring him with me inside a smoking bar. >> It's a bar in general, >> right? A smoking bar >> where a kid does not belong. >> I just had to so bad like and I have to get cash from him if he's not ready to go home yet. >> When did you guys get here? >> Maybe 10 minutes when you guys are out here. He was paying his tab maybe getting ready to go and we go. You can ask the bartender. You already have the the paper ready. The one you sign when you pay and then you give them the the money. >> How long do you think? 10 minutes to maybe when you were here and then I had to be real fast. >> So you think you've been here 10 minutes? >> Yes. >> And you're saying you came here to get cash from him? >> Yeah, I was going to get cash if he has it and if he's ready to go home then we can all go home and so he paying his tub. I think if uh you go to the bartender and ask for the paper bill you know what he paid for. Is there a reason there was a drink in front of you? >> I think I will do one but then I don't really want it. So it's not like I drink it okay just to say okay to people and then I leave. So even for 10 minutes in your mind it was 10 minutes right that's what you're saying >> I actually check check in in between >> when checking on the child in between. >> Yeah I go back I go one out here after I go back in here and then I ask him if he's ready to go he's paying the tub and then I come out again I even left my phone I see people so I like come back out real fast so I said I got to go. >> When you went in to use the restroom was that at a separate time? >> I just left my phone cuz I go run faster and then I uh said I hold on I come back cuz I can't hear the part. Thank you. >> Thank you. Appreciate you. >> They entered the bar to gather necessary information from the staff inside. >> Hi. >> So, is there anybody who's going to be willing to talk to me about what Mr. Anderson is spinning? How long they've been here? >> Literally just got here to pick him up. She walked in the door and I walked outside to sit on my chair table gear which take about 10 minutes and I had just said I was having too many problems. Had to stop. She might have been here 5 minutes. >> That's her one and only shot. She didn't even sit like swear to God. >> Now it's the father's [music] turn to shift blame. While both gave reasons favoring themselves, they shared one strange point. She only left the baby alone for about 10 minutes. >> All right, sir. So, like I said, I was going to talk to you and explain the situation to you. I just got to read some first. All right. Do you understand your rights as I've explained them to you? >> Yes, I do. >> With these rights in mind, are you willing to answer my questions now? >> How we come to you and your wife are in a bar and the child in the bar? >> All week long where she's been watching the kid. Yesterday, today I've been watching and very upset when I'm not around. She's a first time mother. Okay. So she like she starts crying and freaking out. She doesn't know what to do. She texts me or messages me from you know heling stuff over at 1405 doing payroll or whatever. So tonight I asked for 2 hours just to go out. I got here it's 8:30 tonight. She came in half hour ago recording say it was 15 minutes and you guys got here. She came in and she says you ready to go. Glenn the owner he says you going home? I said yes. Glenn went over to 1405. I said I'm paying the tab and going. As I'm paying my tab I said oh. She says, "I see the car. It's running after this. Start this." I said, "Did that leave him in the car like that?" So she walked outside, checked on him, and says, "He's sleeping." She says, "Yes." My tab to Cory was working on my physically working on my tab to get me out of here. Your officer walked in, pulled me out when I'm not around because I'm with him so much. I know how to sue him cuz he doesn't self soo right now. He's only 6 months old. So he doesn't self soo. Rubbing his back, rubbing his head, making him sleep, keeping him on a schedule with the bottle and let sleep. So at this point, anytime he wakes up, she freaks out, gives him a bottle or lets him stay awake. And he starts crying and freaking out. So she came here to get me. >> The baby was crying. >> Just fussing and and she doesn't really know how to handle this. I was sitting at the bar. I said, "Okay, great. We'll pay the tab. Get out of here." >> You said she texted you. >> What are you doing? I said, "Nothing." Sitting here. She says, "Who's here?" I said, "Nobody." And then I actually took a picture of Glenn cuz I said, "Glenn just walked in, sent it to her." She says, "Of course." She says, "So what are you doing?" I said, "Nothing. I'm just hanging out here. I'm having a drink and a shot and coming home." And then she showed up here and left the car running with the AC on in the car. I said to Corey, "Cash me out, pay my tab." And I said, "Go check." She went outside, checked. She came back in said, I said, "Everything good?" He said, "Is he sleeping?" "Yes, she's sleeping." I was paying my tab in your office. >> Did you at any point come out to check on >> myself? Yeah. >> No, I made sure she did twice. >> You're saying now she's only been here for 10 minutes. >> She was over here. The point where she came into the bar, she was here 10 minutes, maybe 12 minutes. Because if you ask Cory, I was sitting there by myself and Glenn just left and she come walking. before he gave her a drink. She didn't even touch it. Is he sleeping? Yes. Okay, let me pay my tab. And I went to She was toting up my tab. And the officer walked in. There was like might have been between 7 and like 13 or 14 minutes and she checked on him twice. I don't want my kid in the car in any weather like in Florida weather, heat or anything like that left by himself. He'll start crying like, "Where's mommy and daddy?" >> You said she's been here since about 10:00. >> She hasn't physically been here. She went inside to check on me back inside to make sure my tab was being cashed out. Bartender gave her a drink. She did not touch it. Came back outside and as when she came outside, your officer walked in. >> When she came in to check on you, that's when you asked her where your son was and she said, "He's in the car." >> He's in the car. I said, "Go check on him. Make sure he's still asleep." She walked out. She checked on him. Walked back in. She said, "Let's go." She sat down, [clears throat] turned around, the drink was still there, and Cory was toing up my tab. And I looked out the window as I was doing my thing and making sure she was checking the baby like 7 minutes. I would never do that to my son. I'm very adamant to her about not leaving him in the car. >> Well, I was sitting listen I was sitting there and she come walking in, left the car there. Cory made her the cocktail. It was like 2 or 3 minutes between that and she says, "You ready?" I said, "Yes." I mean, this there's nothing. It was just And as I'm talking to DJ Root and stuff and Glenn just left and and Cory's asking me, "You ready to go?" and I'm saying yes, I'm ready to go. My son in the car. That's that's insane. I wouldn't even do that to a dog. I wouldn't even do it to a pet. Nothing. >> Okay, give me one second. All right. >> The argument over the keys [music] and phone left in the car created additional risks for the child. >> All right. So So I'm taking into consideration what you said. However, at no point with the vehicle running, keys in the door and the doors unlocked. >> Understand where you come from. Oh my two people walking by. I watched them walk by the car twice. They went out to the curb. They came back in and then they >> but there's nothing stopping them from those two people walking by. They wholeheartedly wanted to take the car once your wife came in that the baby was in the vehicle by itself. >> I have no excuse. >> Do you have a family member or friend that can come care for the child? Anyone in in contacting your phone or somebody? >> I would have to call Tom >> cuz you both acknowledge that child was in the vehicle by itself. >> She always insisted we don't have a babysitter because we want to take care of our own child. Can I make a phone call to Tommy? Is your phone over there on the road? >> Okay, cuz I was going to say I was going to say cuz you just had your wallet in your pocket. >> I have a wallet. What's we out tonight? >> Perseverance is annoying. You could be given a bond. That's by the Tom is on his way. >> We have to contact DCF. We're going to let DCF know what's going on. We're going to let them know where the child's at. DCF can come and check on the child and do their job. We don't need anything with the vehicle, so we'll leave it. >> Obviously, you drive this vehicle, right? So, you knew that the keys were in the ignition and that the vehicle was unlocked when you left it, right? >> Yeah. And it's all thing because it's hot. Do you understand that anybody could jump in that vehicle and drive away with it with the child or grab the child or do any kind of thing? >> Yeah, my phone >> in the car. >> Yeah, cuz I was waiting for him by the cabin. >> You left your phone in there to come out and check on the child. >> Yeah, cuz I had to >> instead of bringing your phone back with you to the car. >> I I wasn't thinking about my phone, so I had to >> Well, then you could have said, "Okay, I'll wait for you in the car." >> Yeah, that's why I come out. >> Mean you left your phone? She says she also left her phone at the bar. >> I got it. >> Okay. Legal procedures gradually [music] proceeded. Police began inspecting the car and the child's belongings. >> Hey, ma'am. Where's your ID? Is it in the car right here? >> In the center console. >> Inside the wallet? >> Yes. >> You You want him to take hers, too? Do you have your ID, sir? >> It's in my wallet. >> It's in your wallet. >> The orange right here. >> You guys got a lot of shine is actually not [snorts] >> really very surreal. >> Uh Tom just called me. He is at the light. He told me to tell you guys he's at the light. He's just panicking about here. >> Okay. >> I just want to let you know. >> Thank you. >> Tom's at the light, so he'll be here in just a minute. >> Please, they're taking me away. Tommy's here. Let Tommy deal with it. We're going to arrange at about 8:30 in the morning. All right. Back home separately. >> Don't freak out. Um I'm just more I'm more scared for him. Jesus. >> Wait for Tom. >> Tom's here. >> Yeah, Tom is here. >> Tom is here. >> Is it formula? Does it have the directions on the can like it should? >> I actually I mixed it already. >> You already mixed it? Well, it doesn't stay good that long. >> Okay. You have it premixed and ready to go. So, he just has to add the water. Is there any actual formula? >> If you look at that bucket right there and there's um Yeah, like a three divided. Yeah, >> there's three divided. >> I think we should make it till morning. Yeah. >> Go this way. We're going to go to that second car. >> Even though I'm the one who stay all for him. >> Afterwards, they proceeded to check the mother. >> All right. So, I'm going to be searching you. Okay. Spread your feet for me. Yeah. All right. Is there anything on you that's going to poke me or stick me, hurt me in any way? >> My earring, maybe. >> If you have anything that would be considered contraband in an inmate facility, >> no. >> And just be aware if you do introduce anything that's considered contraband, it's an additional felony. Okay. The earrings they'll take out at the jail. What kind of necklace are you wearing? So, we're not going to We have to make sure there's a an adult who can get this child safe. I mean, he's just literally leaving his kid. >> Yeah. >> Hi, baby. What's your name? >> That's a step. >> Are you okay? Are you hungry? >> Yeah. Is there someone here? Oh, that's a person. Do you know this little boy? Sorry to bother you. Do you know him? No. Okay. Okay. On the ground. You can have it. >> After repeated efforts, the father agreed to take police to his home, but then he went in circles, making their task more difficult. >> Where do you live right now? Do you Are you still staying in the uh the motel? >> Is there is there anyone else there or is it just you at the motel right now? But you which which room are you staying in? Can I see you here? Do you have any owies? Huh? Do you have any owies on you? What happened? You're all sticky. >> Do you know how old you are? >> Is there somebody in the room that we can knock on the door? >> No. Can you guys talk to the owner? >> I don't know if they're here. It's Father's Day, so they're probably not here. >> Can you come talk to this? >> Are you the owner of the motel? >> Yeah. >> Is this his room? >> Yeah, his room. >> This is his room. >> No, this room. >> The next one? >> Yeah. Cuz I I'm just trying to make sure that you're okay and that your your son's okay and that you that you're able to get your >> is my son. >> Yeah. And I know you care about him a lot. We just have to make sure that you guys are okay. >> Yeah. Well, you're so big. Is it just him and this kid? >> His brother's also staying here in a separate room. >> Oh, okay. I want to like keep them separate. >> Yeah. He like does not even know. >> That's what I'm saying is I feel like we should just go take him and put him in a cop car. No. >> Can I have his thing, too? >> I'm going to take him and go put him in the car. >> This is the Okay. Yeah. Go ahead. What are we going to do? >> There's a guy here. >> This is him. Yeah. >> Yeah. >> Okay. And then this is his phone number or >> Yes. >> his phone number. >> No, this is >> this is the brother's. >> The brother's phone number. Okay. >> What's problem? >> He's really drunk and his kid was just like sitting out there with him on the corner of Pack Highway and he's sticky. He's not wearing any shoes. He walked away from his kid and just acted like it was no big deal. >> He also helped police reach and contact a father's brother, ensuring the child was taken to [music] a safe place. >> Hi, this is Officer Paul. I'm with the Federal Way Police Department. Are you staying at the motel here in Federal Way? Okay. Well, your your brother's here and he's very very intoxicated. We found him down the street with his son. His son is covered in like sticky juice and he's not wearing any shoes and he's not able to take care of his kid right now. Are you able to come meet with us to take the kid? Yeah. He can't take care of the baby. The baby was found on the corner with no shoes and covered in like pop. You're coming? Okay. Meet me over in the advanced auto parts parking lot. Okay. It's literally right next door for the motel. I'll meet you over in the parking lot. Okay. Yep. We'll have the boy with us. Yep. Thank you. Bye-bye. >> And how you guys think of how you guys think? >> I think you've had too much to drink. I think you probably need to go. You're covered in like pop. I think you should go take a a shower and maybe go to sleep and let your >> I'm okay. I'm okay right now. But I don't know why you guys who are you guys like who who call you guys? Like >> two people have two people. >> People just driving driving by. I saw you guys on the on the corner and they just wanted to make sure that you were okay. >> After a wait, the older brother appeared and said, "I want you guys to put him in jail." His frustration over his brother's lack of responsibility was evident. >> Literally just walked off like he started locking doors. That's what I'm saying is custody. >> Yeah. Do you Well, do you want >> Is the brother coming? >> Yeah. And I figured at that point we would just assess how he is and if he's not >> the real brother. >> Other brother. Okay. Have either one of you had anything to drink today? >> I don't like drinking. >> Okay. I'm just asking cuz he's he's very intoxicated. He was over here on the sidewalk with your nephew and he just doesn't >> Why you guys didn't put in jail? You guys need to be in jail. >> Put him in jail. >> Yes. That's the only way you're going to stop doing this. This is not the first time you do this. I was just going to ask you this is like this is a common thing. >> It's always >> okay. Where's mom at? >> Mom run away. >> Mom's not involved. Okay. >> Okay. >> Because of him. He always fighting with us because of something is nonsense. Cuz I want you guys to put him in jail forever. Not for forever. He never listen to us. If we say something to him, he never going to listen to us. >> I I get it. I see you're very upset about it. I understand that. Um >> so when it comes to cuz I mean I get you guys have your own beef, but right he doesn't have a choice on this matter. You guys could hypothetically just leave, but our concern is him. As far as like is he the only parent that's involved with this young little boy and do you guys have the resources to take care of him? Like if you were to have custody or >> me and my wife is the one who don't have that boy. >> Do not want to or are do >> do you or don't? >> We want to and what I'm getting at is that then a case can be made. Right. So what we're going to do is we're going to write up a case to CPS as as well as charges against your brother for his behavior. You can go to the court and petition to become his sole legal custodians. if he doesn't want anything to do with him, he can sign him over and then you can take custody of him. But you could also look into like getting protection orders which would protect you guys from him and that would make it a lot faster because it's DB and he'd get arrested. If you're serious about it, start looking into ultimately today you guys are protecting him and obviously your brother is your own. >> Yeah, we'll get your information and note in our report, but start looking into the process to take legal custodianship over him because if he's unfit, he doesn't need to be. Does that make sense? And we will we will support it as much as we can. We'll do our part as much as we can. Okay. >> The father finally realized the severity of the situation and showed anger. That's my son. >> 46. We'll take one more if one's available. >> How to hospital. But there is no family with him. How the you going to do that? Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey. Get back. You are not going to be doing this. Get back or you'll BE PLACED UNDER ARREST, SON. >> I GET THAT. But you're drunk and you're not going to be any help to nobody. I am telling you. You are going to let him go to the hospital and be seen and we will make sure he's safe. Do you understand? >> They say that. >> Yes, they're not drunk. You are. We're not doing this today. Not in front of your boy. >> That the is my son. >> I get that. But you're drunk and you're no help to nobody right now. Do you understand? You're drunk. Let him go get seen at the hospital. They know where you live. They are your brothers, right? >> They just want to make sure that he's okay. That's that's all they're doing. Okay. >> That is my son. >> And they're just going to make sure that he's okay. Firefighter, they just want to make sure to get him checked out. That's it. They're not taking him away. They just want to make sure that he's okay. >> Would you rather a strangers >> remember me. Remember me. Okay. >> Are youing your family in front of police officers? >> No. >> Sounds like a to me. >> I'm not. >> Listen. Would you rather strangers take your son? Cuz it's either he goes with us or he goes with your family. You choose. We're just trying to look out for him and look out for you. Okay, that's all we're trying to do right now. >> Unfortunately, we're at the place where either he goes into CPS custody or he goes with your brothers. >> So, you choose. >> He needs to go get seen at the hospital. It's about his It's about his health over what you want right now. >> Okay. >> Okay. If you can just sober up, go stop drinking, find a clear moment, right? And then we start again later. >> Okay. >> Okay. >> A short while later, he calmed down and asked to speak with his older brother. >> Anyway, I can talk to my brother. They don't want to talk to you. They want you. They don't want They just came from them. They don't want to talk to you. They want you to go back. >> Only my brother. >> They don't want to talk to you. I just talked to them. They want you to They want you >> so uh she's so >> angry cuz you are drunk with your kid on the side of Pack Highway. His diaper is soaked and he's covered in Fanta. That's why I'm upset. I'm here to protect this little boy, not you. You need to go and sleep it off. Can >> Can I walk you back over there? >> I always try to ask you guys like I just want to talk to my brother, please. >> They don't want to speak to you right now. Okay. You have to respect that. You can't force people to talk to you. Yep. >> Okay. You want to go? >> You want to sit right here with me? >> Hey, look at that. How cool is this? >> We're headed to another call. We're going to go forth the door. >> Yeah. Thank you so much. >> Additionally, CPS was already familiar with his family. They had previously gained custody of the eldest child. The father was later arrested on a charge of criminal mistreatment in the third degree. Under Washington law, he could face up to one year in jail and a $5,000 fine. The child was temporarily placed in CPS custody until the uncle gained legal guardianship. The 4-year-old boy has been rescued today, but the experience may have lasting emotional effects that he will carry with him, and his father may not fully [music] grasp the impact. A child left on the street is concerning, but another left in a car in the heat highlights the seriousness of inadequate supervision. What's going on, kiddo? >> On September 8th, 2023, in a Walmart parking lot under hot weather, a child was left in a parked car, posing potential health risks. Upon receiving the report, police and firefighters immediately rushed to the scene to ensure the child's safety. I can almost just give me a Oh, sorry. >> High five. >> The mother appeared and police intervened following legal procedures. During this process, she repeatedly requested to contact relatives and seek assistance from emergency services. >> Hello. >> They were cooling off in a fire truck. >> Yeah. I had to go get them some diapers and they were saying >> like over an hour. So >> that's not true at all. >> We had multiple people call in saying that's where it was. >> Not true at all. >> I'm just letting you know that's what we are. >> Right now you're going to hang out with us. You're not free to leave. Okay. Right now you're detained. >> Sir, >> go and place your hands behind your back for me. >> Could you tell me why I'm under arrest? >> Right now you're detained. You're not under arrest. You're detained while we investigate. >> Call my husband on speaker. Can I put this in my car? >> I'll put it in your car for you. What's wrong? >> I'll put it in your car for you. >> Could you let me know what's going on? It wasn't an hour, sir. My judge is watching my kids right now. >> You're being detained while we investigate. Like >> Hold up, sir. You're not letting me know what's going on, though. >> I told you you're being detained. >> Yes, sir. You're not. Hold up. You're not letting me know what's going on. >> Hold on. PLEASE CALL 911. >> PUT YOUR HANDS BEHIND. >> WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT? PLEASE HURRY UP. >> PUT YOUR HANDS BEHIND your back. >> I am. Please call. >> Your hands are NOT BEHIND YOUR BACK. >> PLEASE, BABY, YOU'RE A BLACK GIRL. I GOT KIDS. RECORD. CALL 911. PLEASE CALL 911. PLEASE. >> ARE YOU OKAY? STOP MY FEVER. >> I DON'T KNOW IF I want to record. I got kids. Please, >> please. I didn't do anything. My kids need a paper. >> Situation worse right now. >> Oh god. Are you serious? >> You call the cops on me. >> Hey, you need to relax. >> Please let me call my parents. >> You need to relax. >> You're not letting me. You just under arrested me for not to call the police, sir. >> You're a black man. I need help. I got kids. >> We are the police, man. What's your name?
