I have [ __ ] kids at home. >> Here you are. >> Please. >> I'm resisting it. >> Please. >> I didn't do anything wrong. >> For every child, parents are their heroes. The safest place in their little world. But what happens when that image is put to the test? >> There's nowhere else we can go. We're in jail. >> If your child in the middle of the night and it's 45° out and you don't know how long he's been gone for, >> he's 14 years old. >> No. No. For what? >> Princess. And when the police step into the story, what once seemed ordinary begins to reveal a truth that leaves everyone [music] thinking. >> In Florida, a mother turned what seemed like a simple school pickup into a powerful lesson about law and personal responsibility. >> Turn around. Turn. Amber. Oh god. >> Turn. Don't grab me. Turn around. >> That way. >> Turn around. >> On that summer day in Santa Rosa, Florida, a mother's decision behind the wheel changed everything. What seemed like an ordinary drive to pick up her child quickly drew police attention and unfolded into a moment that questioned where personal freedom ends [music] and accountability begins. Sergeant is on his way over here. >> Sergeant is on his way over here. We tried. No, you're not going anywhere. Not with her in the car. Then stop. Then stop, Amber. >> All right, >> Amber. No, just stop. Turn the car off. >> Okay, you drive. >> Sergeant's on his way over here. We're going to fit Rickman. All right, come out here and talk. >> Come out here and he'll talk to you. >> No, it wasn't. >> Come on. >> All right. Well, let me look. >> I'm not driving. I'm >> I'll call you back. Don't do this to me, please. Look at >> Come on, let's talk. I'm such um good friends with you. You can drive me home, please. >> We're good friends. That's why you treated me the way you did. >> Don't do it. >> Come on. >> I can't. >> Come on. Talk to us. >> I can't get out the car. I'll do this summer separately. >> Come on. >> No, I don't want to. >> We're going to talk back here. >> I don't know. Come back here and talk. You said you wanted to talk to him. Let's come back here and talk. Come on, Amber. Amber, >> are you going to do field sobriety and stuff? >> Yeah, I'll do anything. >> Okay, get out of the car. We can go under the awning or we can do it right here and do field. I will lose my kids. >> Come on. Let's do it so much. Don't >> come on over here. How can you go? Please, >> the only other place really is the school right here. >> Please look at me. I can't place in the school, dude. >> Although the mother appeared unsettled and anxious, officers calmly followed standard safety [music] procedures as part of their routine check. >> Where you going, Amber? drive by. >> Okay. Oh, let's go somewhere else. >> There's nowhere else we can go. We're in J. Are you going to do field sobriety? Then let's walk over here and do soiety. >> I'm doing it right here by the road. >> I'm going to take it as a refusal if you don't walk over here and do code sobriety. Walk over here. I've tried being nice. >> I've tried being nice, Amber. All right. >> Please don't make it. Just look out for a white truck. Please. Wait. Wait. Wait. Wait. There's somebody pulling up. >> I don't have a choice. Amber. >> You do? >> I don't. All right. The first thing I'm going to do is to feel uh nestagmas. Okay. >> This on camera. >> Yes. We can I'm going to ask you I'm going to check your eyes. Okay. >> Okay. You can do that. But I can't be on camera. >> Stand with You're going to be on camera, Amber. >> I can't be on camera. >> Are you doing them or No. >> Yes. >> Then you're going to be on camera. This whole thing is on camera. Stand with your feet together. Okay. I'm going to check your eyes. Keep your hands down there. Can you see the tip of the pen? >> Yes. >> Follow with your eyes and your eyes only. Okay. Don't move your head. >> All right. >> [snorts] >> When he comes by, I'm going to be in so much trouble. >> I know it's my fault. I >> You got tape or something for a straight line. >> Can we go quicker? >> We're trying to find a straight line, Amber. >> No, I can do a straight line. It doesn't matter. >> We got to have the straight line. >> Please leave. If he goes by, I lose my guess. >> While he's looking for tape. >> During the encounter, the mother showed visible stress and fear. She repeatedly worried about losing custody, but officers firmly required her to complete the [music] standard safety check as the law demands. >> Don't do that, please. >> You must stand. >> Never at this time. >> The truck sitting down. >> She's in the other truck. You can't see it from here. >> What am I going to say? >> All right. The next couple >> Yeah. The next task I'm going to ask you to do is to walk and turn. Okay. Place your left foot on the line and the heel of your right foot in front of it with them touching. Okay. >> All right. >> So, just like this. Right foot in front. >> Okay. >> I wish we could do this with everybody out here standing. >> You're not starting until I tell you to. Do you understand the directions so far? >> Yes. >> Okay. When I tell you to begin, you'll take nine hill to toe steps. Turn around keeping one foot on the line and return nine hill to toe steps. I don't know what his truck is. So, you're going to take nine hill to toe steps. One 2 3. So, on till you get to nine steps. No, not yet. Go back. You're going to take a series of several small steps. >> Are you going to do them or no? Are you doing them or no? Okay. On your ninth step, you'll take a series of small steps turning around and continue down the line, taking several small steps to turn around. While walking, look at watch your feet at all times. Keep your arms at your side and count the steps out. Once you begin, do not stop until the test is completed. Did you understand all the instructions? All right, go ahead and get in the starting position. Your right foot in front of your left foot. All right, take nine heel to toe step. How do you know I can't show you anybody? >> Refuse them. >> I'm not refusing. >> Well, you didn't finish the task. >> Finish it. But there's people that are watching. Let her go. >> Okay. The next task I want you to do is the onelegged stand. You want to get your shoe back on? Put your shoe back on. I want you to stand with your feet together. Hands down by your side. Will you answer him for me? All right. Hands down by your side. When I tell you to begin, you're going to lift your foot. >> Which one? >> Which other foot you want. Okay. It doesn't matter. Whichever one you feel more comfortable with. Lift it 6 in off the ground. Look at your foot. And you'll count out loud. 1 1,002 1,003 until I tell you to stop. >> All right. Well, hold on. Let me get this ready. You got a regular watch to tell me. >> Yeah. Just stay right there. >> Put that Joe. I'm going. >> Just stay right there. That's not Joe. That's not Joe. That's Lieutenant Hall. Stand back over there. It's not Joe. Go stand over there. It's not Joe. I'm telling you that. Go stand back over there. You're not going to do the walking turn or the one stand. >> All right. Go back over there. [snorts] All right. Feet together. Hands down by your side. You remember what I told you to do? >> Feet together. Hands down by your side. embarrassed. >> Since a child was involved, the mother later was subject to legal review. >> Turn around. Turn, Amber, go. >> Turn. Don't grab me. Turn around. >> Wait. >> Turn around. >> Wait. >> Turn around. >> I'll do it. >> Turn around. >> I'll do it. >> Amber, turn around. >> Please >> turn around. >> Don't turn around. >> No. For one. >> Turn around. >> Don't do it. >> You can take me home. You can do whatever. Please don't. >> Amber, stop. I can't lose my phone. Please drop him. >> We tried that earlier. >> Drop him. >> I don't have a choice. >> Can you come out? >> No. We have to have them on by policy. Stop. I'm not done. >> Well, will you get her out of the car? >> Hey, don't do it in front of her. Hey, >> give me one hand. >> Can't do it. Megan because of her. >> Who do we have to come pick her up? >> Nobody. You can take her home and I'll go home. >> How old is she? >> Oh my. >> Please. God, I don't lose my kids. Please. I've never asked for anything from y'all. >> I know. >> I've never I've missed so much. Please. Please. >> I can't. >> You know I can't. >> I know you. >> No, I can't. >> I can't do this. Please >> put her in my truck. Do me Amber. Tuck her right over there by started. I don't want >> Come over here so she don't see you. Amber, so she don't see you. Come over here. >> Come over here. >> You want her to see you? Then walk over here. >> You tied her hand. >> I've never Please don't get into it. I think my husband is going to take my kiss from me. Please. Please look at me. All right, go over here. >> What stood out was how the officers handled it, [music] enforcing the law firmly while showing compassion. They held her accountable yet helped her remain calm. >> Come on. >> Put that on a handcuff. >> Yes. >> No, I'm not. >> You got anything on you? >> No. >> What are you resing me for? >> Have a seat. DUI. DUI. >> I almost lost my kid. Ready you are. >> Please. >> I'm resisting. >> Can you please >> have a seat? Step up. >> I can't. >> There's a step. I'm going to hold you. >> Will you have one, please? >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> My decision. So I I understand that. But the thing is is you're asking me not to do my job. You know that. And you know that's wrong. Okay. No, it's it's not even up for discussion. I know. >> No, ma'am. You know I can't. >> I can't. I know. I can't. I can't. You know I can't. And this this me. So who can I come pick up? Get DC up and bowl. Who can I bring? I cannot. I cannot. >> No, ma'am. You can tell me. You can tell me who can come get her. >> What? You can talk. We can talk. I just can't turn this off. I get in trouble for turning this off. I'm so close to retirement. I can't risk anything. Okay. So, who can we have your daughter go to? Your folks then who? It is what it is. I This is just what we have to do. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. We'll get your phone. Where's it at? >> No, ma'am. Really? >> Really? >> I would never. Please let me get my stuff. >> Well, we'll get your stuff, but you got to stay in the back of the car. >> They also contacted the family to ensure [music] the child's safety. Is her phone and stuff in there? Okay. How about a purse? Um, hello. Hello. Hello. >> Hello. Who is this? >> This is Lieutenant Hall of San Rose County Sheriff's Office. Is this uh >> This is >> Amber's mom. >> Yeah. >> Uh, we've got got Amber with us. She's going to jail for DUI across the street from the school. Can you come pick her up? >> Where school are you at? >> Right. Right by Jay High School. Yeah, I'll be right there. >> All right, thank you, man. >> They informed the mother, emphasizing that the law is not just a set of rules, but a tool to [music] protect people. >> Your mom's on her way. I don't have a whole lot of choices here. Here's here's the best >> I can't >> I cannot I'll take that back. I won't. Okay. I I've deputies arrested for this same thing. Okay. It is it is what it is. I can't turn it off. You know that. Okay. Your stuff is up front. But that that's I I can't do anything for you. I I can't. Now, if you want to talk to the sheriff and and the chief after this. I don't. >> Okay. All right. >> Yes, ma'am. This is, you know, this is nothing personal because I love you like a sister, and that makes it that much harder. I I can't. No, ma'am. I cannot. >> You can talk to when you get to the jail if you want to call them. >> No, ma'am. >> It's It's up in the front. Get her out of here. I need those on the entire time. >> The mother was then escorted to the station for further procedures with officers offering reassurance to ease the tension for both her and the child. >> What? >> I can't. >> You can't. Actually, you can just >> I promise I can't. I'm not getting in trouble. Drive a little slower. >> We can go. >> We got to at least get on the property so we can we got to call a T. [laughter] Run out of gas. >> No, >> no, we're not laughing at you. >> This isn't funny at all. >> Also ain't going to be funny when we do pushp >> most likely. >> Yoya. You can't wipe my nose. >> Yeah, you can wipe your nose, but I can't wipe it right now. >> Did I get a phone call, right? >> Yeah. >> You can probably get numbers off of it. >> Well, I pretty sure Joe already knows. >> You said you call me. >> No, I didn't call Joe. >> Can I call? Please, please. >> No matter. I'm going to lose my girl. Please. Please. Amber. >> Justin, >> I can't. >> I can't. >> Please. >> I'm not allowed. >> Please. >> No. >> I'm going to lose my girl. Please. >> Have a tissue. >> Once you get inside here, you'll be able to have it all. We don't have a tissue. >> We don't have a [ __ ] >> We don't have a tissue. Once you come in there, you can wipe your nose on your sleeve. You don't have to yell and cuss at me like that. I ain't done nothing. >> Please don't walk me in my Give me a >> The mother faced two misdemeanor charges, [music] DUI and refusal to submit to a DUI test along with two felony charges for obstruction without and child without great [music] bodily. Her bond was set at $6,500. Unsafe driving puts both children and the community at risk. It's a reminder of awareness, responsibility, and the boundary between emotion and safety. Also in Florida, a father lost to his son in a video game. And what happened next turned a simple family moment into a serious conversation about parenting. >> If you don't intend to in children, you can physically crush them. >> You intended to strike him though, didn't you? >> That doesn't mean I intended to injure him, does it? >> Yeah, that's still you. On December 26th, 2022, police received a call reporting a family dispute between a father and his son. What began as a playful game escalated after the father lost, prompting officers to step in and listen to both sides of the story. >> So, how you doing, ma'am? I'm Martine Police Department. Who can be the issue today? So, um, he was just, we were just playing a video game and I beat him and then so he started playing again against some a CPU and then he lost and he got mad cuz I I don't remember what it was. My brother had said something and then he started him and stuff and him >> started your brother. >> Yeah. And like him and then um, >> how old is your brother? >> N 10. Yeah. And then um, >> where's your brother now? >> He's in the house still. And then he then he said, "You're next." And then I put him away and I got to the door and I ran. >> Yeah, >> there's a video. Video of what? Him your brother. >> I think so. I tried to get >> at the end. >> Are you not? >> Are you Are you going to handle it? I see [laughter] it first. >> Oh, not first. >> Is your brother at the house now? >> Yeah. >> Where where's this address at? >> Police. >> Hey, so this is what I want you to do. Go follow me to the address, but stay a couple houses down. Okay. >> When officers arrived, they entered the home and spoke with the father who calmly said he hadn't done anything wrong. >> How you doing? Do you step by the house? >> All right. What's going on today? Um, >> what are you doing? Your son is with mom right now. Show a video. >> A video? >> Yes. >> I doubt that. >> It's on video. >> Okay. >> Fine. Yeah, he's fine. I saw the whole thing. He's fine. >> Okay. >> Hey, buddy. What's your name? >> Yes. >> All right. You all right, buddy? >> Yeah. Huh? >> You sure? >> Yeah. Okay, just look up for me, buddy. >> Okay. What were your dad doing? You and dad doing >> um he was trying to discomfort me >> because he isn't. >> No, he's not. >> So in the face because you lost a video game. >> That has nothing to do with what happened. That is his mom manipulating the situation. I saw the video. >> You saw the video. It's because he lost a video game. He wasn't even playing a video game calling in the face for not being an ass. Okay. Uh, if I want to raise my kids, I want to raise them. If I don't them, what does the Florida law say? It's capital. >> No, that is not true. Are you injured? Read your law. >> The discussion soon shifted to parental authority and the fine line between guidance and [music] excessive control. A topic that still sparks debate today. >> Well, sir, I'm going to explain something. Okay. This has an extent and based on the video based on the video that we saw on my side. >> Okay. Who else is here? >> Who else is here? >> Yes, sir. >> Well, clearly me, my daughter. >> Okay. >> And my son. >> It's nobody else. >> There's nobody else here. >> No. >> Okay. Where's your other son? >> Uh, he left. >> Okay. Is there a reason why you haven't called us to report him missing? >> Because he told me he was going to his mom. >> Okay. Where does his mom >> and he's a teenager? If he wants to leave and go to his mom's during a marital dispute, what do you want me to do about that? I can't do anything about that. I'm aware of that. My lawyer I've contacted my lawyer since he left. He said you have to let him go. >> So you have no parental rights in control of your son. You have to let him walk out the door. >> I have to. Yes. According to family court law, >> I don't know what >> you guys aren't involved in that. I know that. >> Okay. I don't know what lawyer you have. >> But you guys aren't in law to step into custodial issues. >> If your child leaves in the middle of the night and it's 45° out, you don't know how long he's been gone for. >> He's 14 years old. >> What legally makes him an adult, sir? >> Uh, really? >> Yes. Because if any of my children decide they want to go to their mother, I've already been through this three times already with your same police department. >> Did you call your wife and make arrangements for her to >> do I need to? >> Do you need to? >> Yes. >> Where does your wife live? >> What is your right and family? >> You don't be barefoot by now, right? >> The father explained that his actions were meant as discipline, but Florida law states that even with good intentions, certain behaviors toward minors may raise child welfare concerns. >> What do you want me? I cannot physically. If I would have physically controlled him, do you stay here? You guys would be arrested. >> No, because you No, you would have. That's illegal restraint of a minor. >> You're his parent. That is for >> We don't We have a marital agreement yet. We're still in court. I called my lawyer. He said you cannot physically restrain him. So, what happened between you and your younger son? >> He leaves all the time. >> Your younger son? >> What's What's up? >> You just disreg? >> Yeah. Does he have music? >> No. His ear is pretty red from when him in the side of the head. >> His ear is red cuz it's cold. >> Yeah. >> Are you guys serious right now? Look like we're playing. >> I did not intend to injure any child that I've ever had. >> The video indicated. >> Really? >> Yeah. >> The the video indicated what? >> I have kids and I will you discipline them like like you said, there's a certain extent when it comes to corporal. Okay. >> No. No. There's no such thing as law. >> You know what? Give me a fair. No. No. For what? For what? >> For what? For what? What's your reasonable suspicion? You guys have to answer me that question. Are you guys >> What's your reasonable suspicion if you pay me? >> Stop the >> Stop resisting. Really? Are you kidding me? This is what I'm doing. What are you doing to pay me right now? Because what? I my kids under the law. Are you kidding me? As long as I don't intend to injure my children in my punishment, that is my right. >> Also, there's the fact that you're intoxicated and you're dealing intoxicated. >> Yeah, I can smell the alcohol coming from [laughter] >> You can laugh while you want, sir. >> Oh my god. >> Yeah, my their mom is perfect. >> The officers continued their conversation, emphasizing the importance of understanding the difference between setting boundaries and crossing legal limits. >> I did nothing wrong under Florida law. >> Okay. Well, you and I obviously have a different interpretation of how you deal with your kids, okay? And you >> Well, that's what Florida law allows. >> You guys absolutely not, sir. >> You guys don't get if you don't intend to your children, you can physically them. >> You intended to strike him, though, didn't you? >> That doesn't mean I intended to injure him, does it? >> Yeah, that's still without understanding. >> No, you're not. You don't understand Florida law. I've known me for 2 years under my lawyer's advisement. But you guys know better than my lawyer, right? And you guys know the law better, >> correct? You talk to your lawyer. >> Okay. Yep. You guys are perfectly perfect always. Police. >> Me up your It's Christmas. >> Yeah. Oh, you because you don't dis because you disagree with how I my children. That's what you guys both have told me. You disagree. Not that the state of Florida does. >> No, that's fine. >> Right. Am I incorrect? You can disagree with the state of Florida all you want. You arresting me is completely unlawful. Police completed their report, notified the mother, and ensured the children were safe. >> No, I understand. >> Cuz he's a good I just need him to stop drinking. He can't do this. >> No, I I understand. And like I said, I have a son myself, and that's that's hard to watch that video as well. You know, there's a difference that, you know, there's a there's a line that you can cross and it was, you know, definitely cross. >> Three two and a half years ago, we got into a fight and um they arrested me because um he said that I hit him and the dog actually bit him. Um, so, um, no charges were filed, but I was the one that was taken in custody and then I never came back to the house and, um, it's been, this is what he does when he drinks. >> Where'd you get your head, buddy? >> It's a little >> Okay. How did that happen? >> When he and I had to >> That's when you were leaving. >> That's when I I got him off. He landed on top of my head. >> So, what was the point of him you just because he was mad and then that's when you tried to leave or was he trying to prevent you from leaving? >> I wasn't going to leave until he started. cuz he was going to me. Are you sore? Can you look real quick? Does anything your head body anything? Can I come on you look when daddy was? >> Oh my god. >> Got a little red there. >> Yeah, I know. >> All right, buddy. >> Let me see the other side of your head again cuz my ear was really red right there and like purple. >> All right, buddy. You can sit in the car. Okay. >> So, you have no as you said. >> No. Do you want me to call the AMS to check on you? >> No, my son doesn't either. My wife has called y'all seven times. This is the first time I've been put in cuffs. >> The father faced charges of battery, child, child, and resisting arrest [music] without violence. Under Florida law, he could face up to 12 years in prison and $12,000 in fines. There's a very thin line between guidance and overstepping. Understanding that line and maintaining [music] self-control and emotional awareness is essential for every parent who wants to raise their child with love, patience, and respect. No one expected that a teacher, someone meant to be in a classroom guiding students with knowledge and trust, would one day find herself in a moment that tested both her responsibility and her composure. >> Whoa. Whoa. >> Stop. >> Put it in park. On September 26th, 2024, a passer by noticed a car left running with its brake lights on. Inside was a woman who appeared unresponsive. They quickly called the police. When officers arrived, they discovered that the woman was a teacher and her three young children were at home by themselves. >> Ma'am, she's alert. Can you open the door? Can you open the door? >> 96 Julia. >> Can you open the door? I can't hear you. The window's off. Open the door. >> Whoa. Whoa. >> Stop. >> Put it in park. >> Uh, what happened? >> What's going on? I was coming to my girlfriend's house and we're doing this car with brake lights on. What the hell happened? >> Was it like just slowly just going along? >> She was just sitting here, but she had her brake lights on. So, I'm sitting here. I pull up the window. She's just punching. She moving at all. >> I bang, dude. I banged on the window. >> Yeah, please. >> You're scaring me. I ain't doing anything. >> Hey, miss. You want to step on out? >> Don't touch. >> We're going to need you to get out. >> I haven't gone anywhere. >> We're going to need you. After regaining consciousness, the teacher appeared anxious, repeatedly saying she didn't understand what had gone wrong and tried to rely on her professional background to explain herself. I'm >> doing anything. I didn't do anything yet. >> Do you mind just stepping into the room? >> I just want to talk to you for a second. >> They're screaming at me. >> They weren't screaming at you. They were screaming at us. Come on. >> Yeah. Here. Come over here so we're out of the roadway. >> You're good. be able to come closer out of the roadway. There you go. Come on. You're almost there. What What's your name there, miss? Are you serious right now? >> What's your name there, miss? >> I I'll sit over here. I'll sit over here. I don't do anything like wrong. Seriously. >> Asking your name. >> The tag I gave you doesn't come back to the other. >> Wait, hang on, miss. Can you can Can you talk to him? >> Can you talk to me over here real quick? >> Shut up. I didn't do anything wrong. >> I know, but make me worry. Like I I'm a good person. Can you >> Do you have a female there? >> Why are you seriously over here? Seriously, I'll park over here. I'll sit for 18 hours if you want me to. I don't try and do all this. Really? What is this? >> I'll sit over here. I'll park over here. I'll I I'll do nothing. >> Yeah, I was just asking. They just found it out. >> Yes, I know. I ain't trying I didn't do anything wrong. I didn't do anything wrong. >> All right. >> I live like right up the street. I'm just trying. Seriously, I ain't trying to do all this. >> All right. All right. >> I'm doing I I'll >> I hear you. >> You can you can pull my car over there. I'll sit, please. I I'm not trying to do anything. >> All right. Sorry. Do you want me to do the deals? >> No. Oh my god. Happy here in the middle halfway in the middle of the street and try to make contact with family members information here. >> What? It took us a little bit to get here. >> Oh my god. >> You take any medications with him? >> No. No. I'm trying to go home. I live right there. >> I live right there. >> Oh my god. Oh my god. >> Well, here. I just don't want you wandering around in the roadway with wander around. >> There is some cars coming by here. So >> All right. Please, by all means, I live I live like a block that way. I live a lit literal I live in Woodville. It's right there. >> This is the middle school. I live right there. I am not trying to do anything wrong. Please, by all means, I'm a teacher. I am not trying to do anything wrong. >> Oh, where your teacher at? >> Can I teach in Lindon? I'm Please, by all means, I am not trying to do anything wrong. Stop. Please. >> No, listen. We're just >> You want to drive my my car home? If you think I'm lost, I'll park here. >> I'll sit here for >> Is Blaker heading for the address? >> All right. Hey,im. Kimberly, >> Kimberly. >> She went on to share her personal challenges, hoping for some understanding from the officers. I'm going to take >> I think my partner has go home. >> They're 8 and 15 and five. They're crazy. I just I'm trying to pay the [ __ ] bills. Please follow me. I I would never >> I love her. Please >> got her on the phone. >> Route 76 exit 1D. The male's trying to rip her out of the car. >> I'll sit if you want me to sit. I'll I'll go if you want me to go. Whatever you want to do. Like I'm I'm a I'm like a block away there. This is the the middle school. Check you out. >> You're obviously not going the right direction. Go home. Where you at? >> Police continued their investigation, confirmed her identity, and arranged a health check to ensure she was all right. I guess if someone's homeer uh able to get someone's have a lot of excuses. >> So, what where were you going? Where were you going? I know I know you want to go home. >> BMS checks her out. >> Okay. All right. Like I said, >> right now, >> I know there's a lot going on, but can you check your record and see if there's any needs associated? >> Where do you live? 76. >> I don't know why I was still thinking. There's no one car for the address. I don't know if she's one of those deowski attached to that address. When officers observed signs suggesting she might not be in a proper condition to drive, they asked her to perform a standard coordination test to evaluate her alertness and motor control. >> We're done. >> Okay. >> Hey, Kimberly, one last thing, okay? Now that there's nothing medically wrong with you, you >> mind if I just check your eyes, make sure you haven't been drinking or anything tonight. I'm getting ready to go home. We're on a phone with >> Yeah. I just want to make sure you haven't been drinking or nothing. >> Yeah. >> All right. >> Are you able to like slide your glasses up or hook them on somewhere? Whatever. Okay. You don't have anything medically wrong with your eyes at all? >> No. Okay. >> Okay. Don't move your head. Okay. >> I know you're probably squinting because of the brightness. Are you able to kind of like open your eyes? >> Uh they always told me I was Asian. >> No, no, no, no, no. Cuz it was a little squinty. I'm sorry. Little bright. Okay. I just want you to keep on tip my finger with your eyes and your eyes only. Okay. Don't move your head. All right. Uh, you're doing very good. I just want you to follow uh the finger tip my finger up. Okay. >> All right. Despite her explanations, the results showed she seemed to have some difficulty completing the coordination test. >> Do you have anything medically wrong with your feet at all? Any balance issues? Any uh anything in that nature? >> No. Okay. >> Okay. We're going to use this line as a as a reference. Okay. I'm going to describe this test to you. It's called the walk and turn test. Okay. Your arms are going to be down at your side. All right. So, actually, if you want to do that right over here, that'd be perfect. Yeah. Right on here. And then you can face me. And then it's going to be your right foot in front of your left foot with your arms down at your side. Now, just stay in that position the best you can, okay? while I while I I explain the rest of the test. So, you're going to take a series of nine heel totoe steps while counting out loud on each step. And it's going to look something like this. One, two, three. Absolutely. Once you get to that ninth step, you're going to take a series of small choppy steps to turn yourself around on this line here. So, you're going to get to here, you're going to take a series of small choppy steps, and you're going to count out loud again. One, two, nine heel to toe steps all the way back to your starting position. Okay. >> Mhm. >> Did you understand all that? >> Nine steps. Yeah, sure. >> All right. So, listen. So, if you want to get into that starting position now, you can do so. What I'm going to have you do is you're going to raise a foot of your choosing, your left or right foot, 6 in off the ground. Okay? Toes pointed out. And you're going to look down at your toes and count out loud. 1 10 1 2 and so on. Okay? And you're going to keep going until you count to 30.
