When the law steps in, gentle reminders and guidance serve as a way to reinforce responsibility and ensure the safety of every child. A busy day at Walmart, a mother juggling her two young children, and moments of visible struggle. Was she simply overwhelmed or just exhausted? >> What's the deal with the inhalent? >> What? >> The inhalent? The spray bottle that you were holding when I walked up? On August 29th, 2025, Grove City Police received a call from Walmart staff [music] about a mother with two young children who seemed overwhelmed inside the store. Officers quickly arrived, and the woman shared some of the challenges she was facing in her life. >> Hello. How you doing, man? >> How are you doing? Good. I'm officer Du with the Grove City Police Department. Uh we got a call about you. Sounds like you were uh stumbling around inside the store, so we just wanted to check on you, make sure you were okay to drive. Said you're tired. Yeah. I'm not drunk or anything. Like I'm drained. I just moved into my apartment and I've been up cleaning, organizing. >> Gotcha. So, you just been up for a long time then? >> Yeah. And I was crying because I got paid $600 in four kids and it's really >> stress. Gotcha. Yeah. They said they saw you go into the um >> the mother and cuz that's where I been. >> What's uh what's the deal with the can here? >> Uh right here. Thank So, I fixed it. >> Okay. How about you just set that down there on the trunk for me? You got an ID on you? >> Yeah. >> All right. Is it on you? >> No, it's tomorrow. You can go get it. >> Why are you like stumbling around and stuff? I want to make sure that you're okay. So, >> I have vertigo. Okay. So, when I'm really stressed and really drained, irritates, but I've been up all day since 6:00. >> Okay. Um Well, tell tell me what when these other officers show up, we'll go get your your ID. >> Can I sound okay? >> Yeah, if you want to sit down, that's fine. >> Yeah. Let me see. You don't got any weapons or anything on you or inside the car, do you? No. >> Okay. What's the deal with the inhalent? >> The what? >> The inhalent. The spray bottle that you were holding when I walked up. >> I see I'm fixing my my >> Watch out. >> What are you serious? >> Cuz you say you're fixing something. There's no indicator of spray or nothing. And I seen you holding the spray can and you're stumbling around. >> No, I'm not holding it. My daughter is I actually open the door. >> Where is your ID at? >> In my purse. >> Do you mind if I go grab that? Go get my purse for me right now. >> This is crazy. >> Thank you. Appreciate it, sir. This one right here. Mind if I grab it out? >> Yeah. >> But okay. We lived in our car for like a couple weeks cuz I was waiting for my to come through for my unit. And so when the truck was open, my my cloth in my car kept on waiting >> like the the >> which cloth my roof stuff like this. Well, if I told you that Walmart called us, they were concerned about some behavior that you were doing. That's the reason we're out here. >> I'll go in there and vent because I got four kids and then I just cry sometimes cuz sometimes you got cry. I was seen a mother before. >> There's nothing wrong with with letting your emotions out or anything like that, but when we get information saying that you're you're stumbling around the store >> because my vertigo I have vertigo. >> Okay. >> Okay. When it when I'm stressed, it acts up. I don't drink. I haven't drunk in 4 years. I don't have sex. I'm absent. I'm so bad. I go to church. I'm just This whole ordeal is stressing me out. >> Okay. >> And I have no family here. So, just me. >> Okay. >> She spoke about her current health situation and mentioned an item she had brought with her. >> Where were you? If you were spraying this, where were where were you spraying it? Show me. >> Can I get up? >> You need help? >> I have bad. Okay. >> Show me. >> It's right here. >> You can't open door. Open door. You shed it cuz you was cold. But I want the door open. It's all right here. And I had too much. So, >> do you care if I touch it? >> Sure. He had me sticking. >> I'm going to ask the man what I need to buy for in the store cuz it kept on coming up and done. >> Okay. >> Where we're at with this right now is we're just going to give you the opportunity to do a few field sobriety test just to make sure that you're okay to drive obviously cuz you're about to enter the car with your two children. >> I can't walk the straight line. >> We'll walk you through everything that we need you to do. either need >> you just kind of see what they have and like >> watch like every like it's hereditary. My cousin in Mexican, Kentucky has it >> and when she like when she first wakes up, she got pills for it. But mine's only act up when I'm really stressed and I'm under a lot of stress. I just moved in yesterday. I'm trying to organize my house. I bought curtains and I bought rod. >> So they saw that you had gone into the >> the mother's room, >> right? Did you go in with your children or No. >> No. >> Okay. So you just them outside the door then or >> No, they would stand right there. >> Were they inside the room with you? >> No, they would stand by the door. What were you doing inside the room there? >> I was praying and crying. I swear. Okay. And then I listen. Where did my phone go? >> Well, your phone's in here first, but just hang out here. We're going to I'm going to run you through some tests just to make sure that you're fine to go drive off with your two kids. So, obviously, I don't want them to get >> That's [music] my concern. So, I'm going to explain a few things to you. Are you fine if we close the door and your kids stay here? And I'll just walk you to the front of this cruiser. Is that okay with you? I can have this officer stay and make sure that >> he might do that. >> Well, we just don't want them to run out. >> Okay. Just make sure to sit down. Okay. >> Sure. All right. We're going to walk over here. >> Police followed two lines of inquiry. One gathered information from the store to verify her statements while the other assessed her ability to care for her children safely. >> So, um, she bought some spray adhesive. She was trying to fix her roof liner. Um, you guys have video of her in store. I can watch like see what the hell she was doing. She said her whole thing with going to the mother's room is venting because they're living out their car. So, she goes in there and like vents, but we're going to put her through field sobriety test. >> She left her little girls alone for 15 minutes outside. >> Like on the door, say, "Mommy, I love you. Mommy, I love you." >> Okay. >> Um, so what I'll have you do is just take your hands and put them up on your chin like this. And then, are you able to see the tip of my finger? >> So, what I need you to do is just with your eyes and your eyes only follow my finger. Does that make sense? >> Do you have any questions about that? >> Okay. 99. >> Are you still doing all right? Still good to continue. Okay, it's going to be a little bit longer this time. Just keep your hands up here on your chin for me. All right. >> She's walking with the cart. She's fine, but like she's walking like her feet like she was walking like Godzilla. It was super weird. >> Well, she says she has vertigo, you know. won't keep a lie though. So, >> I don't know. It might be nothing. It was just We were worried because of the kids. We debated calling for like 20 minutes. >> Did she left them alone for 15 minutes? They were wandering around. >> Electronics, too. The whole time she was in um the mother's room. >> Do you have anything that's physically wrong with you that I know you said you'd have some sort of issue walking in a straight line? Is that right? >> What's going to cause that issue? Is that the vertigo that you were talking about? >> Yeah. Like I want to get checked out but I never have time and I enrolled new schools the day and took longer what I expected cuz I changed addresses and then when I left CCS I immediately came no I went to Aldi like allies on South High. >> Yeah >> and I went to the thrift store because my new place don't have uh lines. >> That was all today. >> Yeah. >> Okay. So I'm going to give you the opportunity to do the walk and turn test. I can take that into account that you have vertigo and you have your feet. I can explain the test to you and then you can let me know if you would like to try it. Does that sound reasonable? So, I'm just going to have you What is it? >> I left down. >> Okay. Well, I'm going to have you stand up for this one. Okay. >> I think I'm >> Yeah, if you'd like to. >> We type up a sworn statement real quick. Just basically stating cuz um here's where we're at. We're putting her through fields testing anyways. Trying to go that route. See if there's we have anything as far as alcohol go. So, if we do go that route and see that there is evidence to to prove that, we will need a statement. So, if you guys just want to knock one out real quick, >> that would help. >> Um, so when you do this, I just need you to uh in a heel to toe fashion, >> you're going to take nine steps down that line, a turn, and then nine steps back. You think you'd be able to do it? Okay. Do you want to make an attempt at doing it? >> Am I going to jail? >> So, you're not Here's where I'm at with this. I believe that you are some level of intoxicated. >> Perfect. I'm >> see. Let me hang on. Let me explain a little bit further to you. Stop. Stop. Hey, if you need to if you need to sit stop. Hey, what I'm about to tell you might make your day a little bit better. Okay, stop. All right. >> I'm so tired. >> I have not seen you driving your car in the state that you are in. There is no video from Walmart that shows you inside of your vehicle in the state that you're in. Meaning, I'm not arresting you for OVI or operating motor vehicle under the influence. Nor am I arresting you for physical control cuz you're not doing that. My concern right now is that you have two small children with you. I'm going to drive slow. >> I am not going to let you drive and stay with me. >> I don't have no one to drive me. Oh my god. Let me see. >> Sit down. >> Okay. >> Although she insisted she was fine, officers observed that she might need temporary [music] assistance to ensure her children's safety. >> So, can you understand that from my point of view? >> Can I get a breathalyzer test or something? >> Say it one more time. >> A breathalyzer test. I don't drink. >> I understand like that. I just opened it. >> Okay. I just opened it to spray my my ceiling cuz um I can't afford them to strip my whole ceiling. >> Right. Based off of what I'm seeing, I believe you are impaired by something. I don't know if you're impaired by alcohol, but I am I will not let you drive today. >> But why do you think I'm under influence? Cuz I can't walk in a straight line. >> Again, I didn't see you walk in a straight line cuz you said that you didn't want to. Based off of what I'm hearing in your slurry and slow speech, you're unsteady on your feet. >> I was unsteady. When I looked at your eyes, you you have showed several indicators of impairment within your eyes. >> Stress like do you not understand? >> Stress isn't something that's going to cause that. >> I promise it does. I have been had anything. >> I've gone through >> to drink anything to eat. I have been fasting for 3 days. You understand? >> All right. I understand that. Again, that's not something that's going to cause what I'm seeing here. >> So So you're saying that I'm under influence because I ain't held that stuff for split second cuz I was spraying my the the sealer. I shouldn't have sprayed it. Well, that's not what I'm saying. Is that what happened? That you were just inside there spraying it and then got into your nose and that's why you think that this might have happened. Well, that's what I'm asking you cuz you're the one that brought that up. >> I mean, I'm asking like how am I acting? I don't know. This is how I regularly act. But >> do you have somebody that can come pick you and your kids up? >> But you do have somebody. >> I can try. >> Okay. Why don't you try to I'll get you your phone? Okay. And why don't you try to get a hold of somebody that can come pick up you and your kids. Okay. How long were you spraying that stuff in the trunk? >> Like I just came out the store so I just opened it. You can read my receipt. >> Well, that's not the problem that I have. The problem is if that's what you think it was that you were inhaling too much of it. >> You think it cannot fetch? >> It does feel wet. So like you probably like I put my hand on it and it does feel like sticky. I mean it just it kind of depends on if you how much you were I mean that stuff's strong. Like I smelt it like even just rotating the can and I was like that stuff is strong. But I mean were you I mean I'll ask you straight up. Were you purposely inhaling it to like try to get high or anything or were you just trying to or were you just trying to fix it? >> I really was trying to fix it. I'mma fix it. Like fix it, Randy. Like fix it. >> I get it. I get it. I mean >> I got to do what I got to do. >> Um are you able to come out here and um pick up I'm sorry. What's your name again? >> Chvel. pick up Chvel and her two kids. >> Okay. Okay. Um, you Grove City and Walmart? >> Yes. So, it's gonna be the Walmart that's on String Town Road. >> I live in Galloway. I'm like a couple exits up. >> Okay. All right. Sounds good. We'll see you then. >> All right. >> All right. Bye-bye. >> All right. >> All right. I'll give this back to you. >> Thank you. >> Do you just want me to set it back in your car? >> Is that okay? >> Yeah. >> Okay. Throughout the process, police remained [music] calm and supportive, ensuring the safety of both the mother and her children while contacting a responsible [music] adult to pick them up. >> Did you go in the room to kind of look for a break? >> Oh, >> the room like the mom room to like kind of have a break from everything. >> Okay. >> That's my den place. I go in there and pray and um I have the you virgin app is on my phone. >> Okay. >> I listen to my scriptures and and touch home. Okay. Is there a reason you do it at a Walmart? >> No, I'll come to Walmart and shop. >> No, no, no. The shopping in the thing is totally fine. The only thing is like the loss prevention people said that you were in there for like 15 minutes. So, when they see that, it's a little concerning to them as to why somebody might be in that room for an extended period of time and their kids are sitting outside. >> I'm doing that. My daughter, my little one, the door. >> Okay. >> She's a bully. >> Yeah. >> All right. So, here's where we're at with this day. You are going to get a citation. You're not going to jail tonight. You're going to get a citation for intoxication and then just one for endangering children. I believe that you would have gotten into your car, taken off the state that you're in. I don't believe that you can care for yourself at the moment, which means I don't believe that you care for yourself. >> Really, >> you are more than entitled to your defense, but this is based off of what I've seen indicators of just speaking to me and then what I've seen on the test if you allow me to do it. Like I said, you're more than entitled to your own defense. >> It's okay. I respect your opinion. >> Not a conviction, but a charge. said, "You want to fight with us later? Hang out. We're going to write those out for you. You'll get your copy and a court date and then you can handle that at a later date." Does that make sense? >> Yeah. >> In the end, the mother was not taken into custody, but received a citation for childment and was given a court date. A family member later arrived to take her and the children [music] home safely. This video is a gentle reminder to take care of ourselves and maintain balance in life, protecting both our own well-being and [music] the safety of those we love. Can you believe it? An eight-month-old baby was found in a car next to their mother, who was not responsive at the time. >> Police, >> get the off of me. >> On June 17th, 2023, Akran police received a report about a woman who was unresponsive in the driver's seat with her crying 8-month-old baby next to her. When officers arrived, they found the mother unable to respond and the baby was not secured in a proper safety seat. Okay. Checking the alcohol. >> What's going on? >> Baby's been in the front seat the whole time. Are you dad? >> All right. Miss, what's your name? >> Do you have your ID with you? >> No. >> Is this your car? >> No. You know what's up. >> What What brings you over here? >> Oh, come on. Now, stop. >> All right. Well, you're not you're not driving from here. So, what's that? Is this your Where's your keys at? >> I got no key. I'm not driving. >> How'd you start? Did you guys take the keys? driving. >> I couldn't It was in park. I couldn't find the key. I tried to turn it off. We can't have you drive out of here. You're intoxicated with the baby. >> Listen, listen. Stop right now. I'm not driving nothing. I ain't drove for you for you to say I'm a husk. >> I'm worried about the baby. >> Okay. Okay. MY BABY RIGHT HERE. >> WHY isn't the baby in a car seat? >> She right here. I ain't drove nowhere. Mind your business. She right here. She ain't drove nowhere. This is my business right here. Nowhere. Mind your business. Go ahead and step out for me, dear. Come on. >> You got family close by here. Come on, dear. Your baby's going to be fine. We're going to take care of your baby and try to get you right. Okay. >> I'm here. >> Police remained calm and focused on ensuring the child's safety while the mother did not immediately engage with the officers. >> Come on, step out for me. I'm just going to have you have a seat in my car till we get this. >> No, >> just walk with me. You have to walk with me, man. It's not an option. I'm here to help you and I'm here to help the baby. I just don't want to see nobody get >> Why are you bringing >> I'm just escorting you. I'm being nice. I'm helping you out of the car. I'm not putting you in handcuffs or nothing. >> But you know they going to ask questions about that. >> I know. >> Look Look, I didn't see you driving. You're just sitting in the car. You're >> you're a little bit inebriated here. Hang out right here. Like I said, my main thing is the baby and and and you. I don't want nobody getting I don't want you doing something foolish, pulling off and then somebody eats you guys or you somebody here, dear. I'm going to have you have a seat right here. Here. Turn this way. Ma'am, do you live close by? >> Yeah. >> Okay. How does he How old your baby? >> Okay. My guess is going to be six. >> I'm sure we just saw her here. Not really so responsive like she would move open bottle in the car. >> Dad. >> No. >> You're okay. >> After being informed of her rights, the mother chose to remain silent to protect her own legal interests. >> Real quick, I'm going to read you some Miranda rights. Okay. you are under arrest. Uh, you have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in the court of law. You have the right to talk to a lawyer and have him or her present with you while you're being questioned. If you cannot afford to hire a lawyer, one will be appointed to represent you before any questioning if you wish. You can decide at any time to exercise these rights, not answer any of my questions or make any statements. Do you understand each of the rights I read to you? You do? Okay. Having these rights in mind, can I speak with you about what's going on? You don't want to talk to me? Okay. During a vehicle check, officers found a concerning item under the baby's seat. Further investigation identified an item in the car that was not suitable for a child to be near. Sarge. Sarge. Oh, they're here. I got the dope back here. I'm testing it. >> Yeah, I know. It's a shame I didn't test it yet. I'm assuming it's fentanyl. >> Fentanyl. Yeah, I wrote down. >> Oh, yeah. It is kind of chalky. >> Yeah, I do. >> HELLO. >> YEAH, you you uh Wait a minute. I do have test positive. >> It's turning blue. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. >> Then I'm not I'll call CSB on my way and then I'll call you over the radio if I hear something. You added then I'm not I'll call CSB on my way and then I'll call you over the radio if I hear something. >> You added the baby's name. >> Yeah, baby's added. >> It's up to you. Or or you can wait until CSB gets out. >> I don't want to get her going just getting Yeah. >> Despite officer's efforts to manage the situation carefully, the mother became overwhelmed. Her lack of cooperation delayed a proper resolution. I'll be in route to the county with a female 13. Beginning mileage is bumping civilian. >> You're going to have to calm down a little. [music] be in the parking lot. >> Your daughter's going to CSB. >> Yeah, I'm clear. >> To CSB. >> Dad don't want to talk to us. He got warrants. 15. If there's two with me at the county, that'd be great. Party. If you don't calm down, I'm going to have to restrain you. >> 15. >> Yeah. Is there anybody with a wrap in their car? Uh, this 13 is in the cuffs to the front of her body. The window and being violent. >> STOP THE GLASS. >> 23. >> Somebody respond. I couldn't hear. >> Yeah, 11's in route. Where exactly are you? >> I'm on Arlington right now. was passing uh Barrett if they wanted to with me up the road. >> While being guided from the vehicle, she became more agitated, requiring officers to follow proper procedures to ensure the safety of both the mother and the child. >> I'm on right now. So the run, the short of it, Don passed down the car, had open bottle container or open container, 8-month-old next to her in the passenger seat. uh rested her for child injury and then during the inventory Sergeant Brian found a baggie right where the baby was sitting up like right beneath his feet on the floorboard. Oh, she's flipping out about the whole situation. Got her cuffs in the front of her being. >> She's on my side. Go ahead. Step out. >> You got to step out here, miss. >> 24. >> I hear my shot. Get your away from me. Holy blessings through the armrest. Pull it up. >> Don't touch me. >> Got to waste all this time doing this when I could have been where did I >> [ __ ] Shut up. What you mean? Hold on. I was acting in the car. Did I Did I do something to you? Did I face up? >> Supposed to be one right there. >> Did I anything up on you? I don't act like this. You ain't meant for this. on this call. You want to split people make a female locked up. Get the off back up bag and all that. >> Okay. >> The mother faced charges of possession, childment, [music] and having an open container of liquor. Under Ohio law, she could face 6 months to several years in prison and a fine ranging from $1,500 to $6,000. This case goes beyond legal issues. It serves as a strong reminder of the importance of parental responsibility. When adults lose focus or make unsafe choices, it is the children who are most affected. When children are involved, even a minor traffic violation can quickly become a serious situation. >> That's where we're at right now. Do you have >> protection orders? He's not in danger. >> On August 18th. >> Sorry, I'm trying to calm her down. >> Okay, that's fine. What's your name, my man? >> Jackson. I know I shouldn't be driving, man, but >> No, I got you, man. Just give me one second. All right. >> All right. >> Hello. >> How you doing? >> Good. And you? >> Hi, little one. What's your name? Beautiful kid. >> Yeah, when she's behaving, >> she seems behaving. >> Yeah. Now that this is all happening, that's the whole reason why we left. >> I'm not getting nothing back on him. It's like I'm sorry. There's like 20 different things that popped up, but none of it's like his exact information. Go ahead and get them out. Noticing an unexpected [music] smell inside the vehicle, police asked the family to step out and began a routine inspection. >> Yeah, we can uh Yeah, we can figure that out later. We'll just Hey, Mr. Jackson, can you go ahead and cut that car off for me real quick? All right, go ahead and step out for me. All right. The reason why I have you step out is because we got a probable cause search of the vehicle because the car smells like Dude, you got any weapons on you? >> Nope. >> You put your hands up there real fast. I'm just going to pat you down. All right. >> You mind grabbing up Roslin and stepping out for us, please? So, I can explain to you. Um, so the car does break in and the state of Iowa is probable cause for a search of a vehicle. Right now, I'm understanding neither one of you have a driver's license. >> When was the last time y'all smoked in the car? >> I probably this morning. >> You want to go back here and from this car for me? >> Yeah. >> No, I I smoke out. >> Is there any car? >> No. No. You feel free to search? Honestly, I can't smoke in the house obviously cuz I got kids. So, that's that's where I smoke. But you're you're good to search. >> All right. >> You're not the driver. Okay. But you understand? >> Yeah. >> What I'm explaining. Is there anything that we need to know about? >> I'm having my mom pick us up. >> Okay. Can you wait with Jack? >> What? >> Well, you're in the vehicle. Okay. And you're not free to leave yet. I I got it. You're good. I got it. You can't go, ma'am. >> For what reason? >> Okay. You're in the vehicle. The vehicle smells. You are not free to go. >> It's just >> doesn't matter. It's against the law. >> Doesn't count in Iowa. >> Okay. So, then what's the what's the penalty for it smelling? Like, >> so right now the vehicle is being searched. Okay. If there's in the vehicle, then somebody could potentially be arrested. >> Potentially. Like, is it a for sure thing? I'm sorry. Like, it's >> I got them for you. I got them. If you'd like to stand in the shade with your daughter and Officer Owen, we'll talk to you a little more in a minute. Okay. But you're not free to go right now. >> Otherwise, if you want and I know it's not the most comfortable, but I have my air on in the backseat of my car. >> My like I said, my mom's coming to get me. They're just right down the street. >> If you'd like to stay in the shade with Officer Owen for a minute, I'll be right back with it. I'll let you know what's going to happen. Okay. I'm guessing it's in her fanny pack if you haven't found anything else. >> No, not front. >> Tend to guess. There's a box kid right by the daughter. That's not a good thing. >> The mother admitted to having certain items that required review and cooperated by handing them over when requested. >> I understand it smells like but what's like do does that automatically mean like it goes to jail like >> No. No. They have probable cause to search the car. >> I understand that. But I'm saying like even if there was like just cuz I've seen cops where they see like even like >> but like even right now I'm and I'm not being rude or anything but like I can smell it on you. It's just coming off of you. You know what I mean? >> Okay. Can I can I be honest? I do have a little bit on me, but my key go. >> No. And you know what? Like I was going to say cuz you smell like >> it's it's on me. It's just a little bit. And >> Yep. Okay. So, let's do this. Just give it to me cuz I can smell it. >> Yes, I know. I do have it on me. >> So, here's the thing. And I I don't know what they're doing. Oh my good god. When you opened it. No, it was like >> And I'm sorry. >> So, here's the thing. That's child endangerment. You can't do that. >> It's not like we were smoking. >> No, I know. But keep it away from that. And I do keep it from All right. So, what do you got? Just that. Yeah, just those two things. You can even take my purse. I have no other pocket. >> Well, I probably will search you more just because. But yeah. So, it was really strong. You smell >> now. I don't know what they're going to do. You willingly gave it to me. But like just don't have it around her. And even being in the car with it like smell of it. >> Yeah. Obviously, they smelled it cuz you walked up to my side of the car, but the car didn't you weren't smoking. >> But I know. But that's not good for her. Even just the smell card. And I understand that like it's seen as taboo or whatever. If you're an >> I don't even care about the medical card, but like just having it around her. >> Uhhuh. >> You know, is like >> I I get it to Yeah, I get it to an extent. >> And we don't I don't care what you do at your home and all that stuff, but like she's in the car. >> Where's he going? >> Oh, I don't know. He might just be having him sit there. >> The inspection revealed that neither adult had a valid driver's license and the child was not properly secured in a safety seat. >> Sir, I'm just I'm going to have you sit in the back of the car. Doesn't mean you're under arrest. I got things to do. And then I'm going to put the window down cuz I know it's hot. I'll put the AC on, too, >> just so he doesn't have to stand out in the sun or whatever. That's I was trying to see if you wanted to sit in mine just because it was cool. And I don't know if they found any more in there. I don't know. >> Yeah. No, there's no more in there, but I just didn't want to go to jail or anything. It's like my dad's going like we're having a party and she just threw it. So, I was going to take her home so she could take take a nap. >> Yeah. Are you able to take your fanny pack off? I'll just search that. >> And if you're good here, Sam, then I'm going to go up to the >> Yeah, I Well, I just don't know. Do you want me to grandma's car? Is that grandma's car? >> Yeah, that's my grandma's car. >> When she took this kid out of here, what'd she do? >> Unbuckled it and picked it up. >> Yeah, I know. >> He said there's a couple roaches in the center console. >> Do you have a valid driver's license? >> I don't. >> Okay. Hey, but you weren't driving, right? >> Yeah. No, but my husband was and he doesn't have a valid driver's license. He was honest about that when >> Oh, there's grandma. There's mom. >> Do you have anything in your bra? >> I really don't. And it's one of these thin ones, so sorry. No, it's fine. They people hide them. It's the only reason I'm checking. I mean, you told me where the other ones were. Yeah, that I just wanted to be honest cuz I know you guys could smell that. >> Nothing in your crotch. >> My what? >> Crotch. Crotch. >> Crotch. Oh, no. I don't have anything. Okay. >> Officers also found an object accessible to the child that needed to be removed for safety. >> You need something? What do you need? >> You're looking for somebody. Is this your car? >> Yes, I am. >> Well, right now you can't be in it. Somebody either was smoking in it or has. They also have an unsecured child in the back seat and a box cutter next to her. Everybody's got it. The car can't go anywhere yet. I'm pushing the button, but >> Oh, her trunk is broken. It's It's broken. Well, we have we we still have to try. >> That's fine. Yeah, you got to go through the back seat. >> One of you daughter. Who's Whose daughter? >> My mom. This is >> grandma. >> This is my mom's car. >> Hi, Miss. >> We were 2 minutes at a party. I just happened to drive into the party. Like, oh, >> I can't get it. >> Oh, that's >> I've already opened it, but >> the officer stopped him. Let's step over to the sidewalk, please. Okay, miss. We can't be on the street. >> They are not little brookers. >> No, that's not We got a We got a couple things. >> And then we have the unsecured child uh seat. He ran two stop signs. So pulled him over. Smell just emulating from the car with all the windows down in the air on. So that's probably cause search in Iowa. And there's a large box cutter with which reach of Roslin. I realize that but it is a dangerous for a three-year-old. Right. We're not charging them for neg. But they could be charged for not properly securing the little one. So right now we're just waiting a minute for the officer to decide what they're going to do and then depending on tickets or whatnot will be decided in a minute. >> Will I go to jail? >> I don't know what they're doing with it. It was the other officer stopped and I just came because I thought that the other officer I didn't know there was another officer already here. But then when I saw a female females males don't usually search females so I was like well there's a female I'll hang out and I like kids so I was like I'll hang out >> right now. Two stop signs. Understand child two childments in possession for both. We'll see who admits to ownership. >> The father was informed of his rights and he shared several important details. >> All right, man. I'm going to read something to you real quick, Mr. Jackson. All right. All right. Are you got the right to remain silent and having these rights in mind? Do you want to talk to me? Sure. >> All right, man. Who's it? >> It's your >> I had my medical card expired about a month ago. >> Okay. >> So then, you know, I just got a little bit of flour since I can't get the cards. But anyways, >> just uh So, what exactly as far as the goes, what was it in there? >> So, it was literally just like two little roaches cuz like I don't know if it was you. I explained you earlier. I smoked in that car cuz I can't smoke in that house. >> Yeah. >> There were just two little roaches I left in there. I like to save for smoke. So, they were just in there. 630, >> man. Like if you smell the middle glove box, that's why it rings cuz they're just sitting in their own. >> I'm be honest with you. They're like not roaches. They're like half blunts. >> Yeah. Well, >> they're like half blunts, man. >> You know, a roach is like a half already something that was sparked, you know. >> I got you, man. It to his. >> Not hers. >> No. >> All right. So, we're we're having trouble finding either of you in our system. So, are you guys both have driver's license from Iowa? >> I don't have a driver's license, but you need my soaps. >> Is it out of Iowa? >> Yes. >> What is it? If you couldn't tell, the car didn't smell like it. It was meat that smelled like it. So, I didn't have it around for >> He also said he smoked in the car this morning. >> Earlier. Yeah. >> The car seat wasn't restrained properly. Okay. So, the officer is Officer Batio. He's the one who made the stop. Okay. The information I understand so far cuz I don't know all what's happening yet. I just showed up to make sure everything's okay. Jackson ran two stop signs and it was observed by the officer. >> Yeah. Well, I don't think he ran. He didn't stop fully, but he didn't run it. He's >> still technically running. I understand though. I get it. >> Sorry. There was just no traffic, so I just thought it was okay. >> It's still technically unlawful. So, as soon as he says what's go he's talking to Jackson right now. When he's done with that, he'll come over and talk to you and and he'll let you know what's happening. Okay. >> Although both parents acknowledged mistakes, [music] neither claimed full responsibility, raising questions about accountability within the family. >> Ma'am, do you have uh your social? >> Yeah. >> Bring her back under the shade and talk to her. All right. I'm just going to read something to you real quick. >> Oh, no. Is it what? Like my rights or something? >> Yeah. >> Oh, so I'm getting arrested. >> No, I have to read them, though. >> Oh, okay. Sorry. >> I'm not I'm not trying to get in trouble over you. You know what I mean? >> Yeah. >> All right. Understand each of these rights as I explained them to you and having these rights in mind. Do you wish to talk speak to me now? >> Sure. >> Okay. Whose is it? >> What? It's mine. It's mine. Yeah. He he had his medical card, but I smoked freely. He had his own cards and stuff like that. >> That was located in the vehicle. Is yours? >> Yeah, it was located on me. I gave it to Yeah. I mean, like for husband and wife, obviously, he smokes too, but it wasn't his. It was mine. >> When did he smoke in that car? I'd say like this was way earlier this morning. We had dropped her off around 10:00 a.m. to her grandma's. I think it was around like 10:00 a.m. and we were gone for an hour. I was just trying to clean up. We just got back from a camping trip. I just trying to >> Did you guys both smoking there or is it just him? >> It was both of us. >> Both of you smoking there around 10:00 this morning. >> Uh yeah, maybe a little early. We woke up at 7 this morning. So it might have been like we ate breakfast. We were home for like a couple hours and then we dropped her off for a little bit. I think we got back around 10:30. So, it might have been like around 9:30. >> Where did you get that from? >> Uh, it was on her person. >> Okay. Well, she's saying it's his and he's saying it's so they're both saying it's theirs since not doesn't belong to the other person. >> We're going to charge both of them. We're not playing those games. >> I just don't understand why they're trying to incriminate one of us right now. Like I don't understand. Like I understand. >> I understand that. Like it seems like childangerment, but it wasn't. I understand. I didn't know the court. We thought it was buckled in. I I buckle I strapped her in. That's why like you saw her that she her >> she was buckled into the chair and I didn't realize that the chair wasn't buckled. I didn't realize that. >> I'm only telling you what I observe. >> I know. But I buckled her in. You saw that? >> I saw that. >> Mom, would you come be with Rosie? >> Go to grandma. >> The mother repeatedly insisted that her child was safe. However, even unintentionally, parents small mistakes can still [music] affect a child's safety. >> Man, I'm just going to get some quick info from you mainly pertains to her. Okay. Since she was in the vehicle. How old is she? >> Two. I'm you you were the one that pulled in, right? Originally or with Yeah, you saw her buckled in. I didn't know that the thing wasn't buckled in. >> So, I'm just I'm I'm going to be completely honest with you. As I'm going through the vehicle, >> I can tip that thing over with my finger. It's not It's not locked in. >> I didn't I did not know that when I went in there. I put her in. It wasn't like it wiggled or anything. And I buck buttoned her in. I was kind of in a rush to get home. >> But if you guys were getting into a crash from running these stop signs like you did, that camera would go flying around in that car. Okay. >> Usually buckled in. The trunk thing must I just I don't know. I assume that it was buckled in. It's usually buckled in. >> Yeah. So, I mean, here's kind of where I mean, yeah, the traffic violations, but I mean, the bigger issue is uh you and your husband both knowingly have around your infant daughter. >> I understand that. I understand. I don't know. I thought they changed it so it wasn't anymore. It was like the same. They didn't change that to where it's in. >> You could never ever smoke around an infant. >> Well, no, I never said I smoked around her. >> What we're getting at is the vehicle smells like Okay. So no matter what that the smell, it's still inside the vehicle with smoke inside the vehicle. Your child is inside the vehicle. The child is under restrain inside the vehicle and you're running stop signs. Okay? We're not trying to be rude. We're not trying to go dancing around here, but we're just trying to let you know what we have on the table since it seems to be an issue with you understanding what we're talking about. >> No, I understand what you're talking about. I just wish you would understand. It wasn't like ill intent like I'm just being reckless. >> A lot of things that people do out here are not ill intented, but guess what happens? We get caught for them, right? Well, today is that day that you got caught for it. Do you understand what I'm saying? >> Yeah. >> Okay. So, yeah. I mean, you're kind of right. I mean, uh, you're here's what can happen. You both are going to be placed into custody. Can we get her over to grandma? Can you take her? >> Can I at least see my daughter? Like, >> we got things to take care of her. So, we're going to have grandma take care. >> I know you're going to be arresting me, so why can't I be >> Yeah, I'd prefer the child to go with grandma so we can talk to you about adult things. Child and for both of you guys, uh, possession of for both of you guys, traffic offenses for him, and then uh, yeah, you guys are both going to PCJ. What's going to happen there is they're going to issue protection orders. protection or guys. >> And so you guys can figure out how to safely parent your child. >> She is safely parented. Like we were just out of >> That's where we're at right now. Do you have >> protection order? She's not inure. Can I talk to my husband? Please. Please. >> Please. Can I just please Did they tell you that they're going to put a protection order against her children? >> For what? >> What? >> Well, that's that's what the that's what the judge does. The the courts. That's not us. Yeah. Yeah, when you get child with childment, they both they issue protection orders. So, you need to figure out with your grandma right now who the child's going to stay with. >> But either way, yeah, you're going you guys are both going to PCJ. >> Police carefully explain the process, rights, and the possibility of a child protection order. Both parents were temporarily held for further review. >> We'll uh we'll get that. You want to get take your fanny pack off? >> I have that I have that fanny pack real quick. >> We're going to we're going to go on the back. >> Can you say goodbye to him at least? >> Yeah. I mean, yeah, that's fine. >> And I can't say goodbye to my daughter. >> That's it's fine. You can give her a hug, whatever. I don't understand why your demeanor is so rude. I don't I don't understand it how you have no compassion >> when you're smoking in the car with a juvenile. I don't have compassion. >> He said I could give her a hug. All right. >> Yeah. Give her a hug. Do your thing. >> She said that you both smoked around 10:00 10:30 this morning. >> Like 9 10. Yeah. Okay. When I woke up, that's all I know. The problem is if they're charge of childment, a judge can put a protection order against the parent and it requires a parent to go through some state classes. So I don't know if that's what they're doing. >> Yeah. Do I I I understand. But you can even ask officer when he pulled up. There's no smoke in the car. Like I was not smoking. You checked the security cameras. That was just that cat. >> He's not saying that that's not the case, right? But their concern is everybody reeks of and the car seat is unsecure. That's the problem. >> Yeah. It's cuz if you switch car seats from we got to ride there. Obviously when she starts freaking out, we put the car seat in. Okay. >> I know it's not right, but it's not like I just drive around like that. >> I didn't accuse you of that. I'm only telling you what I see when I get here, man. I'm not the officer who made the stop. Right now, they're just talking with mom and and and Rosalyn. And as soon as I know what's happening, I you'll be the first to know. Okay. >> I'm tell dad I'm sorry. >> Listen, it's a temporary thing. The court puts it in order. There's nothing that we can do about it. When you get to talk to a judge about it, >> like I understand the judge will listen to what you have to say. The more you collaborate, the calmer you are, honestly, the better it's going to look. >> No, I understand. >> What I want you to do is I want you to walk so that your daughter doesn't see this. I just don't understand why Jack wasn't understanding of them saying that the gonna be in contact with I don't want your daughter to watch. >> Yeah. Thank you. >> If you guys go smell the cart, it won't smell. >> Do you have anything in your bra? >> No, I No, I don't have anything. I have >> no money. Does anything you take in the jail? >> Yeah. No, I know. I I've been >> It's a separate charge. >> I know. I've been to jail before, unfortunately. But no, there's nothing in here. Do you know if they pose bond for child? cuz I've just never been in trouble like this. Do you guys know? >> I don't know, but we'll try to find out for you. Okay, >> I understand. You don't want to help me. >> I'm trying to help you. I brought you over here on the other side. >> No, I >> If I didn't want to help you, you'd be over there in front of your daughter. You understand what I'm saying? >> Serious. >> Does anybody have a separate cuff? I mean, >> can I at least talk to him before I go in? >> Doing you doing double cuff? >> Mom, will you text? It's on my phone. Alex D, that I won't be able to come work in the morning. Just say I'm sick right now, please. >> Where do you work? I own my own plating company. I >> All right. So, this is what we're going to do. We're going to walk right back around here and I'm going to sit you inside the car, but I'm going to do it without your daughter seeing you in handcuffs. Okay, we can go this way. >> Go that way. >> Despite the complex situation, officers remain calm, reassuring the mother, ensuring the baby's safety, and maintaining transparency throughout the process. >> I'm going to explain something to you real quick. >> Yeah. >> I'm going to put you in handcuffs. All right. >> No. >> Okay. >> I'm not going to try to take this first. >> All right. Both going for the possession. Okay. >> All right. Got that out of the way. Child for the car seat, dude. It was not hooked up. It's literally flowing around the car. If you guys would have gotten into a crash and run stop sign or anything like that, kids going to go banging around the back seat. Okay. Not a good deal. All right. And plus traffic violations of run stop signs. All right. >> She's all buckled in. Okay. And she's good. >> Honestly, I would never like purposely guessing. See the judge in the morning or maybe you'll be able to make bond tonight. I don't know. Just take it one one step at a time. Okay. So, some deep breaths. Just try to relax. I know that's difficult, but try to relax. Okay. And she's buckled and she's taken care of. You know, your other daughter's taken care of, right? So, just the two girls though. So, I'm Grandma was more than willing to take them. So, >> do you want this scarf? Same. Did they bring anything else? Did I think they left your shirt with your your >> Yeah, it was my >> Okay. Walk over here to this metal gate. Have you been to jail before, miss? >> Unfortunately, I have. >> Poke County. >> Yeah. Had a bad past. >> Doesn't mean you have to have the same future. All right, my man. You ready? I'm going to grab your jacket from you. Okay. >> SW, >> dude. Just one one other thing though. If you do have anything else on you like any products or anything like that, >> I ain't got nothing on. >> All right. It's another felony. All right. >> The mother face charges of ining a dependent and possession of a controlled substance. Under Iowa [music] law, the maximum penalty could be up to 3 years in prison and a fine of $11,100. Even without harmful intent, minor oversightes involving children can lead to legal consequences. Staying calm, cooperating, and following child safety rules are essential to protect both yourself and your children. >> She was pregnant basically. I don't even know if it's my son anymore. >> Sometimes trust and loyalty form the foundation of family happiness while creating a safe environment for children. On April 16th, [music] 2024, authorities received a call from a neighbor concerned about a child seeking help. The mother appeared anxious while a child tried to knock on the door seeking assistance. Officers were quickly dispatched to handle the situation. >> You called? >> Yeah, the one on the left. >> Yeah. What happened? >> When I pulled in, the door, front door was open and there was a guy on the ground and that little kid in his lap and he had it in the mom's like screaming help, help, >> screaming like at him or just out. >> She was saying help. And then another kid went in the window was bang on was like help. So I called and she climbed out of the window with like a 2-year-old. I was like, "Please call the call." The mom did the phone. Yeah. I'm like, "I'm on the phone with them right now. You need to get the kids out of there." And she went back inside. And then they shut all the blinds and I don't know what's going on now. >> Okay. You haven't heard anything since you called? >> No. >> Okay. All right. Um, let me go see what we got going on. I know we've been there before. So, yeah. >> Recently moved in like the last few months. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. If we need anything, we'll come back, knock on the door. Thank you. Hello. >> Hello. Hello. ON THE PHONE. [crying] >> Is everybody okay? >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> Officers approached the mother to gather information and identify the boyfriend who was not present at the time. >> Who is my baby father? He was upset for some reason. And he's obsessed over me, I guess. I don't know. He strangled me and started picking me up and throwing me everywhere and like Yes. and tried to run out to get help and he like pulled me by my hair and I was trying to yell. >> What was he wearing? >> I think it was a purple like a car racing shirt. >> A shirt? >> Yeah, it was like a shirt. I don't think he has shoes on and um shorts I believe. I think it's short. >> What's his name? >> Um Daniel Alvarez. He's my kids. He was taking care of them of my kids earlier. >> He live here. >> No, it's not that. >> You said is it first name Daniel? >> Um J O U D A N. >> I'll have you write it down. We've dealt with him before, right? Yeah. >> Okay. >> Are you got you okay? >> We're fine. They literally were taking naps. They all They all just woke up. >> Basically, somebody called because they saw I guess him holding the kid out in the driveway. >> It was me. >> Oh. Holding you. >> It just looks like it cuz he saw I ran next door to they have a room. >> White, black, Hispanic. >> I'm Hispanic. So he like your skin tone a little darker. >> And the kids were taking a nap and things like that. SO I RAN OUT cuz you know. >> Yeah. So he was you? >> Yeah. >> Did you ever lose like breath? Yeah, it was it was >> possible DB strangle here. >> He was like, "Oh, you're not leaving. You're not leaving me." And just started like >> You came out the front door. >> I know. I When I went back inside, um when I was kind of my sto >> He was left me without phone or nothing. >> Are you guys married? >> No, that's just my baby dad. He He helps me out here and there with the kids when I go to work. >> But he doesn't live here. >> No, he does not. >> Okay. >> Where is he at now? >> I don't know. He went to the bathroom. >> Yeah, he must have jumped over. He must be around. He's not going to go any far. It's J O U D >> A N I E. >> Yeah, I locked it. Um I'm not sure. I didn't open it with a key, so I don't think he would have gone through there. He must have like jumped over. I could open that for you guys. But >> do you know if he's got a Florida driver's license? >> Yeah, he does. >> He suspended. >> That's fine. J O U D A I N E. >> Yeah. >> Doesn't drive, right? >> No. >> How did he get here? >> My We usually Uber him or get rides and so I have friends that usually don't. >> He's got your phone. >> Yeah, he has my phone. This is my son's phone. Luckily, it was hidden. like he took left me for. >> Okay. Do you want to press charges for theft >> for the phone? >> Um yeah. >> What kind of phone is it? >> It's an iPhone. [snorts] >> Um iPhone. I think it's 15 >> 15. What's a value roughly? >> It's like 4 500. What was that? >> I'm not going to get it. He lives in he doesn't really have a stable home. >> No, but we also have her saying and she said she lost birth too. couldn't breathe. So, how do you say that? Judane. Jodine. >> Let's see. His Spanish wearing a purple shirt. >> Hispanic. >> Yeah, it's like a black purplish shirt, I believe. Or red. >> Like a racing style. >> So, not purple though. >> I'm not sure. It's like purple or red. >> It doesn't change. I don't know. But those >> little woods there. And there's another fence there. So, if you want to fill up the drone, >> the demon situation and then um theft as well. Pay theft for her phone. She's got He's got it her phone. >> Come on, baby. He woke up my kids. As you can see, they just woke up. They wasn't involved in it or anything. Like literally just like >> she saw what was going on. >> No, she was in the bathroom showering when it happened. So she didn't hear anything. Told her to when I when um he had me on the ground, that's when I opened the bathroom door and I told her, "Okay, >> all this was out here." >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> It happened over here. She um >> Yeah. Yeah. >> Cuz everything was in here. My kids were inside the >> Did you know when he went out the back? Did you lock the back door? >> I just locked it. >> Are you sure he's not in the house that he came back in? >> No, he's not. He's not. He's not because I went to look around first and I didn't see that he was at like I went to work just in case with my kids and then when I went to the back door the the door was so he didn't shut it all the way it wasn't you check the rumors that he wasn't >> Yeah yeah yeah of course my kids were napping so I wanted >> Even if we go in >> Yeah. >> Authorities immediately began coordinating the response. They secured the area and used a drone to ensure everyone's safety while locating the missing person. >> I know my partner has already talked to you guys. Did you see where he might have went to. >> I didn't see Did you see him leave? >> I didn't see anything. No, >> she saw it [clears throat] >> inside for like 5 seconds to tell her that I know the cops were going to be here. >> Mhm. >> And I didn't see him leave the front. >> We've pretty much been out here. I didn't see him go anywhere. >> All right. >> Maybe he's still in there. >> It's a good possibility. She said he left, but we'll double check. Appreciate it. >> He doesn't drive. She said she saw him walking earlier. >> He was out with the kids. You just rolled back up. >> When you saw him earlier, what was he wearing? Do you remember? >> Got nothing on you? >> No, I don't. >> Yeah, cuz you're 195. >> One of those ones is mine. >> Hm. >> One of those ones is mine. >> What? >> One of those phones on the floor is mine. >> One of them is yours. Who's is the other one? >> Her. I don't have any surveys and I need a phone. I need at least to call my parents. I'm not from here. I'm from Puerto Rico. I was just trying to fix my family. Man, >> she did just terrify that her phone. >> Can I sit, please? >> What's up? >> Can I feel Can I sit? I feel lightheaded. I don't feel too good. >> Yeah. Go ahead. Have a seat. >> You want to sit here? >> Probably not on the sprinkler, but go ahead and have a seat. >> There you go. If you want to have a seat, go ahead and have a seat. >> What's in your coffee? >> Um, you got anything in the backseat of your car? We'll just throw them in the back of your car real quick. What's that? Is there any way we could >> Oh, >> is there any way I can fold my family? >> Not yet. You'll have a chance to here in a minute. Okay. >> The thing is that I just want to leave back to Puerto Rico. >> Where can I bail myself out? >> You what? >> Is there any way I could bail myself out? >> Oh, we haven't gotten that far, have we? We're still here investigating everything. >> I don't know. Are you guys going to ask me any questions or I'm just going to get detained? >> Right now, you are just detained. We're going to wait till the other deputy comes over here so you don't have to tell it five times. You can say it all at one time. Sound like a deal. That way we can hear your side of the story, too. >> Where's he at inside? >> Where's the other? Oh, him. >> The adult involved explain their stress and communication challenges. However, conflicts should never compromise the safety of children or family members. >> Something I'm asking you specific question. >> Yeah. I have the right to remain silent. Anything you say? Maybe. >> Do you want to talk or no? >> Hard to speak. >> Okay. What h what happened today? Why are we here? >> She's she's been very moody because she took some pills to have a child. She's pregnant right now. >> To what? >> She's pregnant right now. >> Okay. >> And he's been very moody because uh she took some pills to have basically to have basically lose the baby >> to lose the baby. In the last 3 days, I've been dealing with this type and forth of I hate you. I can't stand you. I love you. Can't stand you. And just this is what been happening. A month or two ago, she got arrested because she put her hands on me. >> I was really out of my mood and everything. Today, basically, I just went and grabbed her phone and we've been arguing back and forth. I went for a walk and came back and basically told me, "I've been having you stay here because I've been seeing another guy. Well, she was pregnant basically. I don't even know if it's my son anymore. Okay. >> My kid I grabbed her phone to verified and she hit me in my face. >> You grabbed her phone like out of her hand. >> Yeah. And she in my face and then I just grabbed her and held her down against the bed. Just screamed at her that all I wanted was like I mean just the ear. >> What happened out here? >> Huh? >> What happened out here? >> She wanted to call the cops because I was holding her down because of her mood swings. And the guy that's here with her sister could verify that she's been having mood swings almost every other day. Yeah. This is what he's saying. He just touched her stomach. She lost her mind or whatever. He goes outside. She jumps out the window, runs away. Right. The kid. >> She's claiming that she was sleeping. He start touched her stomach to see if she had a fever and then touched up here. But he said she touched up here, too. And she said that she his her clothes off and touched her. >> Yeah. I just How do you get her clothes on? >> That's the thing. Like, it doesn't make sense. >> She said a hoodie. All right. Just give us a few minutes. All right. And then we're going to try and work everything out. >> Can I get a copy of all this stuff? >> So, we don't give copies. I'll give you a business card, though. All right. >> Okay. I just Yeah, just cuz I had to leave work. >> Oh, yeah. I'll give you a business card, my name, and all that stuff. Phone number and the case number and all that stuff. All right. He smacked you in the mouth, right? You said >> right here. >> Like in the face. >> Straight pop. >> And my ear was like ringing. >> You You heard him say he'll do it again, right? >> I'm not worried about I'm worried about him actually hitting him. My um last night was wearing an oversized hoodie. >> An oversized hoodie, you said. >> Okay. Just an oversized hoodie. >> Yeah. >> You weren't wearing nothing else underneath that at all. >> Nothing. >> Okay. >> He uh my front was kind of exposed. He took a picture of me. >> Your eyes were still closed. >> Yeah. >> So, how do you know that he took a picture of you? >> I saw the flash. >> You saw the flash? Okay. Well, I got to ask. That's that's the only reason why I'm asking. It's not silly. That's why I'm asking her. I didn't say that. I have to ask these questions, right? Has he done this before? Has he done it before? >> Are you flipping me off? >> What did he do last? >> You're flipping me off. You want to come back? >> Hey, just just go over there. >> I know, but I get it. But just stand over here and we'll handle it. Okay. If they're doing something, you give it to us and we'll handle it. They're not going to do that to me. I promise you. Fair. Through continued dialogue, officers notice signs of distress in the girl's behavior, prompting them to take a thoughtful and protective approach. >> So, we're all on the same page. I mean, she's really shook it up. Like, she's something happened. Whether what she's saying is true or not, something happened. I mean, she's she really believes it. She saw it from her eyes. She told me she was in the past about a year or so ago. I guess they were on the couch, him and her, just hanging out looking at videos on the phones. And >> can you tell her to stop recording me? >> We can't tell her to stop recording. But I mean, cuz we get we get recorded all the time, too. So, >> I mean, you're being recorded right now with us. >> No, I understand that. >> Just ignore it. Honestly, your best the best way you can do is just sit there and ignore. Honestly, it's the best thing you can do. Well, you can't tell her to stop recording, but I mean, if you want, come sit. Come stand over. If you want, go stand behind my car. It's just not in the shade. >> Whatever was hers. Okay. I just wait. Y'all wait just over there for now. >> That's why I came over here. >> Cuz y'all have co as well. >> That's why I came over here cuz >> she's saying I guess a year ago they were on the couch. They were kind of just laying on the couch watching something on a phone. He was like falling he like fell asleep at one point or was faking to fall asleep and she said that he was like holding her and then his hand slid up and like grabbed her boob >> over the shirt. >> Under over and under >> while he was sleeping. >> Yeah. like he was like following her like she's like I don't know if he's pretending or I don't so that that's what she said in the past she said today she was in the bed they have co she was wearing a long hoodie just a hoodie no underwear no bra no nothing and she was underneath a blanket so the blanket was covering her lower half and the hoodie was covering her top half in the bed so she's laying in the bed he came in felt her stomach which is I don't know why you feel people's stomach if they have a temperature or not usually touch their cheek or their forehead everybody's back her back is screwed Yeah. So, whatever. >> Talking about her tummy. Anyway, it is what it is. So, he he grabbed he touched her stomach and then she said she touched her like up here somewhere. And then she said that his hand came down and kind of like bondled and then touched her stomach again and then came up underneath and grabbed her bare. Then he she said at this point her eyes were still closed. She was like afraid of what he was doing. At one point I guess he then exposed her full chest with the the sweatshirt up and then took a photograph. >> Yeah. He showed his phone. I said, "How do you how do you know you took a photograph if your eyes are closed?" She said, "Because I still saw the flash go through through the eyes," which is plausible, but you know what I mean. >> Yeah. >> I mean, I'll document. >> Hello. >> Hi. I don't know like what you guys are doing, but I know you guys are investigating her allegations. I don't know if you guys understand how dramatic it is. That girl looks like she's about to have a >> We're doing both of them. Do you imagine if somebody was molesting you and then you have your right next to you? >> Listen, I'm not going to tell you how to come and do your job at admin house. >> So, you know, I mean, it's the same thing if you come over here and try to tell me that's just advocating for her. >> But, but at the same time, ma'am, you need to understand that there as of right now, it's all allegations and we're trying to figure out the proof and stuff. So, that's why we're we're figuring out what's going on with your son while also figuring out what's going on with him. I mean, he's not >> what you're saying. Do you understand? I understand what you're saying, but we're also dealing with >> Right now, everybody's a suspect. Not >> everybody's a suspect. What do you mean >> as far as over there? >> Oh, >> correct. It's >> crime. Okay. >> Yeah. I'm just saying cuz I'm looking at her through the window through my car and she looks like she's about to hyperventilate. >> We understand. And that we we have all that in mind as well. That's why we're we're working on it. So, >> I I'm just worried about her. >> I understand. We are too. >> And I don't mean to come off rude. >> I understand. I know what you're saying. >> I'm trying to advocate for her. Like I'm just sitting there thinking like if I was I wouldn't want my near me. >> I understand. But I think the general public doesn't see a lot at least when it comes to law enforcement is that we get allegations like this all the time. And I I would say the majority are >> right. >> We have ones that are founded and >> the majority are unfounded. So it's not that we're saying that we're trying to be cold about the whole thing, but we're trying to be >> He said he took pictures of her. >> Yeah. We we >> already looked at the phone. >> That's That's why we have to we can't just go just what she says. But let's go what we discovered so far. While I was standing over there, she's like, "I have no proof to show to you." You got to understand when we're arresting somebody. We're taking their rights away from them. We're taking them away from their home, from their legal rights as a civilian. We're taking those rights away from them. So, in order for us to do that, we don't want to violate his rights either and get in trouble with us and our family as well. We're doing our best investigation. >> I do hope he does get arrested because while we were here and the other guy who was here, he did say numerous times that he would kill my son and that he was him again. And I was like, "No, you're not. You're not going to touch my son." Hello. >> Did that hurt you guys? >> Uh, no. He was standing out his knees now. >> After completing interviews and gathering necessary information, officers followed proper legal procedures with the adult involved. >> Hey, that was inappropriate. That was inappropriate. No, you didn't. >> Back up. Back up. Back up. Let him. Let him. >> He just stabbed him for no reason. >> Spit on my face. >> No, he spit right here. I saw that. [laughter] >> Back up. We have it all on video. Just take a step back. >> I saw that though. >> He's not cooperating, but we got to get him on his stomach somehow. >> Let's get his first. >> Okay, listen. >> We're listening. What's up? >> Okay, I will roll over. >> Okay, I said it once. >> Let go of this arm. I will roll over. We'll hold on. >> You can stay on the Okay, you can hold on to it. You have to move though cuz I'm a little fat and I can't I >> We're rolling this way and I got to go your way. Okay. So, whenever you're ready to give me 119, >> you can put a cuff on this hand. >> You got to be in your court. As soon as you put in I got to roll more because >> Yeah, I'm having a hard time hearing >> somewhere in my >> 11616. >> That's all. Hey, I got a wallet in this left pocket. >> Okay. >> All right, man. We'll roll you this way. >> I'm going to throw up. >> We're going to get you up in second. >> I'm going to throw up just throw him on the side. Set him up. I'm going to throw up. >> All right. Well, you might want to leave me here for you. >> I'd rather not. Okay, that'd be fine. >> All right. >> Violating my rights. >> Eric, you're going to jail for spending on the deputies? >> He's now evidence for resisting. >> That's three felonies. You're going to need >> county. He's just complaining of nausea and shortness of breath. >> Shut up. >> Hey, whatever. I don't care. Preaching with the quiet. >> I know you don't care. I don't know. >> I'm not going to spit on. >> Well, you just did. >> I was trying to spit because I couldn't breathe. >> Well, that's weird. >> I got co >> That's awesome. >> You guys do too. They already knew that. >> He's not going to need that right now. He's not going to need that right now. >> No, he's got the spit mask on. He's not spitting anymore with CO. >> Just put it down for me. Put it right down and then come over here. >> Can I do anything? >> If you complaining, you're breathing. You're fine. >> What? What do you need? >> Good. Everybody thinks all the battery. >> Absolutely. >> Is it easier for you to roll onto your side or do it like this? >> All right. That works out for me. I appreciate you. >> The situation was documented in full [music] for legal transparency. >> Wants me taking pictures of anyone's. Let me just take a picture. >> God, >> good. I'll take pictures of it right next to your face. There you go. Cool. >> That way when my sergeant's ask Oh, we don't have to. We know whose legs these are. >> Got to make you laugh a little. >> It's been on my face, dude. I'm not >> I know. No, I get it. I get it. >> Despite the tension, officers followed all proper procedures, conducting [music] wellness checks, recording the events, and completing the process according to regulations. >> I don't want to speak to you. I'm not allowed. I asked for an attorney at least five times and >> Well, you're under arrest. So when >> can I speak to an attorney? >> Not right now. When you get to the jail, you can contact your attorney. >> You talk a lot? >> Yeah, I do. >> That's crazy, too. >> That's good. How about I talk more than you circles around me? Can >> I lay down? Is that okay if I lay down? >> Go ahead, man. Lay down. If you feel more comfortable laying down, lay down. >> No bond. >> I don't know. I'm not an attorney cuz I heard charges. shot. You know what shot you have? No bond. >> We'll explain all that when you get down to the jail, okay? When you get booked in, we'll let you know what your bond is and all that. Okay. >> Thank you for the answer, sir. >> You're welcome. Co. Um, he tried to he spit at one of our deputies after you said he had CO. That's why he has his mask directed towards the ground. Will you be quiet? I'm not talking to you. He's got some scrapes on him and everything else. Be quiet then. I'm trying to carry on a conversation here. Do you mind? >> You got you a little better with your breathing now, it seems. >> Not really. Okay, I'm >> going to check you out of them. So, let me have this breathing. >> Yeah, he's arrested. >> Okay. >> He's got multiple charges. >> Just want to go to jail. >> Okay. >> I don't want you checking. I want to go to jail. >> Huh? >> We'll just check your vital signs and go from there. >> Just going to check to make sure you're breathing all right. And then >> he said what? >> He said he just wants to go to jail. >> Hot outside. >> Man, you're talking. How long has it been since you said you were having trouble breathing? Can I feel breathing? >> Leg was on my leg. >> Oh, so you can breathe now? >> I can breathe now. >> I asked for medical attention when they were on top of him. This guy wasn't even here. >> Do you have any injuries that need to be checked by medical personnel? >> They need to document that one. That's it. >> We don't document those. >> Not you. >> Oh, do you need us? >> I don't need I asked for y'all when there was >> Do you need anything from the FD? >> Are you anywhere? >> All right. We're going to have you sign a form saying that you don't want to go to the hospital. You don't want us to take >> Well, I know that form doodle behind your hand. We'll we'll figure it out, man. Just scribble. T scribble. We'll just want to go to jail. Is that fine? >> That's fine. Is there anything else I can do for you? >> No, I think the other official was much nicer. >> You know his name. >> Okay. Uh, do you have them ID? >> You have ID? >> ID is in my wallet right there. >> All right. Once we get you up, we'll we'll check see if it's tight or not. And then >> we'll take a look at it. >> I think we're almost done here. Okay. So, we'll get you on your way in a minute. >> Zip this foot up and drink the water. I don't need your help. Put the cup near me. I'm not going to spit on my >> I don't have water to give you. >> There's water right there in that cup. >> Right there. Right behind the house. I'll crawl over to it. >> I ain't lifting that over you. I'm definitely not getting spit on by you. So, you're going to wear that little spit spit mask. >> Did you see exactly what happened when the whole tustling and wrestling was going on? >> Um, not enough to I saw it. Yes. But everything happened so fast. I know that he the detective came to get the phone and he had it I guess in his pocket. He wasn't going to get it to him and that was when he you know started resisting him getting the phone and everything and then they were I don't even know who I don't I don't know which guys I can't even tell you but they pulled him out and threw him onto the ground. They were struggling with him cuz he was resisting. >> I don't know. >> Are you willing to write that in a statement for us? >> No. >> Okay. Use his tools when we need it. >> Walks on. So >> we rolling. >> Yep. That car right there. >> All right. Sounds good. Take my >> That's it. >> Shut that for me. >> Back in the trunk shot. >> Yep. That's all I would ask. It doesn't matter. >> Just sit like that right now. And it's his car. So he's just going to do it real quick. Just relax for right now. Okay. >> So every time you get moved or transferred, you got to check your pocket. >> Yep. That's it. >> Nothing on you like that. >> All right. Call you when I get there. Get the water. Make sure you get the keys out of the van. I think he left them in them. Oh, can you do me a favor before you take my wallet? Can you get my wife my cash? >> Yeah, give her the cash. >> All right.
