Do you want to perform the field sobriety test? Yes or no? >> Shut the [ __ ] up. >> What you say? >> You're a [ __ ] >> Sorry. Sorry. >> You can't fight me. I'll [ __ ] you up. >> Intoxicated people make policing very, very challenging. And if it's a couple and both of them are intoxicated, the call is going to be that much more challenging. But most of those incidents are resolved by simply talking to people. But sometimes the alcohol makes them both get more irritated and officers end up sometimes having to use force to take a person into custody. This is one of those. A lot of these body cams, sometimes it's the officer that mutes them and sometimes when they are sent from the records department, they mute certain things out of them. So, a lot of these body cams, you'll see some muted segments in the body cam. >> Yeah, go get your ID. >> Where you guys going to be from? >> Our house. >> Where is your house? >> Our lobby. >> Okay. So, where are you guys going now? >> Home. >> Okay. But you guys going home? >> No. >> Okay. >> My bad. I'm sorry for that. >> No, you get You got it for me, my man. >> Definitely see some signs of impairment and you can watch this officer will watch the dexterity of the hands, how people pull out licenses, how they manipulate wallets, manipulate a phone. All those things can be documented inside of the report and they should be documented in the report. You see the glossy, the red eyes, those are definitely signs. And as you're looking inside the vehicle and when you listen to the person speak, you can hear that her speech is a bit slurred as she's starting to say where she's going. You heard the officer say, "You get it, my man." or something like that. He wanted the passenger to take his ID out of his wallet. This twofold. One is because we don't like taking a person's wallet because there are There've allegations that, "Oh, I had a $50 bill in my wallet, or $100 bill in my wallet and I gave it to you and now it's gone. And then the other reason is we also get to watch the dexterity of the hands as they pull out that item from their wallet. And before we go on, I just want to say there are so many of you who watch, please make sure that you subscribe to the channel. It helps these videos get pushed out to a lot of people who could use them for training. So please, if you're not subscribed, take a moment and click the subscribe button. Thank you. >> Could you lower your window, please? Your Your back window is really dark. >> So I 10-50 Universal. >> So I want you to look on the screen here and you can see where it says muted underneath where it says Axon. On some body cams, you'll see the officer mutes their body cam, that muted word will come up and sometimes you see it, sometimes you don't see it, but it's something to look for when you hear the silences. >> I stopped you because you were at high speed, your windows are dark, and you were you were swerving on the road, okay? Go a little higher, please. Go over here. Just want to Hey, go over here, please. Lift your windows, please. >> My window? >> Yeah, a little bit. Thank you, that's enough. >> Am I going to lie about that? >> This is This is 13. 13. >> Is it >> Wait, wait in the car. Yeah, the back. Halfway, the back one. You guys are fine. Hey, you guys are okay. Don't worry. >> I'm sorry. I'm sorry. >> Hey, just wait. Ma'am, you have to wait. Hey, sir, lower your window on a half, please. Back window. 11. You should be at 15, so you got all illegal windows, okay? Yeah. >> 42, I'm running it several ways and she has so many last names. >> 14. Please update my final four Florida's Italian eatery. I don't know the address over here. >> 10 4, all updated. >> Thank you so much. You're the best. >> Okay, couple of things. So, the device that you saw the officer hold, I've mentioned it in another video, it's a tintometer, which tells the amount of light that enters a vehicle. And in jurisdictions where tint matters, that device can tell the amount of light that goes inside of the vehicle. It's a legit charge for tint. And something else that's interesting that I noticed is that the officer didn't know his exact street that he was on, and he just gave a landmark. And it's really good giving landmarks. If you don't know the exact street, give a landmark, especially in foot pursuits. If you see a landmark, control, I'm right by the fountain, by the blue building, right off the corner of the street where my car where I gave my last location. And then the units will find you, cuz sometimes you're just not going to see an address. So, sometimes using landmarks is good. Is there any history with both of them, yes? >> Yes, but you said 35 14 only? >> 10 4. >> Okay. >> So, I can be in camera. I'm going to let you know what I see, look, smell. >> Uh-huh. >> She could not provide me the driver's license. She missed it. She missed it several times. She could provide me. They both are I think they're both mine. >> Uh-huh. >> And also And also she was swerving. And she was driving. She was driving. You want to not make contact and Okay. Thank you. >> So, sometimes when you have a backup officer, you let them know the PC, the probable cause, the reason that you stopped the vehicle. So, if they're going to assist you on the stop, then they know all the reasoning why in case you get asked again. Also notice that the female also has a tech bun, very good stuff. >> Okay, do you mind stepping out of the car for me real quick? Okay, I'm going to give you a set of instructions, okay? Do you want to put your vape right on the middle of console so you don't lose it? >> My vape? >> Your vape, right there in between your legs. You have a vape so you don't drop it, okay? When I have you step out, okay? Just >> So I want to stop it right here because this is something that I've mentioned in videos before. Long nails like that, not tactical. There are as much better practice to have your nails to where you can train and have the dexterity to do all the things that you would need to do and all the tools that you need to manipulate. Now some people are going to say, "I can do everything with long nails that you can do." Maybe, but I know that putting on latex gloves is something that you can't do and you can expose yourself and other people to blood and other things. So, nails like that in a patrol function where you might be getting into scuffles and they can break and you have to jump over fences, not the best practice. >> Do you mind coming over here with me? How's your day going? >> Good. Well, it was going good, but Come on. Any No, sir. >> No, sir. No, sir. No, sir. >> All right. >> I'm sorry. >> You consent to a search of your car, right? >> Yeah, yeah, sir. Yes. >> I'm just going to check you and see if you don't have weapons, okay? >> Yes, sir. Yes, sir. >> Okay, ma'am. >> You're not in trouble or anything cuz you're not not, okay? Let's go. Let's come in here. >> You guys Where are you guys going? >> Stay over here. Stay over here. >> Home. >> We just going >> Stay over here. >> I'm going to ask you something, but first let me let me read you your rights, okay? >> Stay over here. Stay against the car. Ma'am, go with the officer. Listen, she's talking to you, okay? >> Yeah, I am. I'm not >> 401, shots fired. 401, shots >> Okay. >> 03 on a black auto. >> No. No. >> But let me see. >> Uh-huh. >> This is your wife, okay? I know. >> You have the right to remain silent. >> Yeah, I I already know this stuff. >> Okay, I still got to read it to you, ma'am. Okay? >> Yeah. >> I want I want you to look at me. I need to know that you're listening. >> Yeah. >> Okay? >> Mhm. >> Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law, okay? >> Yeah. >> You have the right to the presence of an attorney to prior to or while you're being questioned. >> Mhm. >> If you cannot afford to hire a lawyer, one will be appointed >> I have regularly Regularly Tony went to the job. So >> Okay. Look, ma'am What are you doing? >> I'm I'm doing what you guys do. >> What do you mean? I'm trying to read you your rights, ma'am. >> Yeah, you're reading my rights to cuff me and take me. >> I You don't know that. I'm I'm trying to tell you >> Cuz then we'll waste my time. >> Calm listen to her. >> Okay. >> Hey. Hey. Hey. Hey. Hey. Hey. >> Sir, no no no no. >> Lift your She She's there, okay? Okay. >> Do you understand each of these rights I've explained to >> So, can I read my card in my car? >> Do you understand each of these rights I've explained to you? Having these rights in mind, do you wish to talk to us? >> So, can I read my card in my car? >> Okay, but wait. I'm asking you a question. Having these rights Does my Does from your mind Do you >> Can I read my card in my car? >> What are you What are you talking about? >> My rights in my car that I have. >> I have it literally right here. I don't >> You have your job in your car. I have my rights in my car. >> Do you wish to talk to >> take me then. >> No, you don't have your rights. >> Turn around, ma'am. >> I have my rights in my car. >> say ma'am. Just say yes or no. >> I have my rights in my car. And you don't know your rights. >> She doesn't She So, right now you're not under arrest. You are detained. >> Okay. >> Okay. Ma'am, I'm going to be honest with you right now. I do smell some alcohol. Have you drinking? >> What counties are you >> wish to perform this test? >> 764 Shelby going out of here. >> Okay. Because how you were conducting and how you were driving, do you wish to perform any of the tests to see if this show me that you're safe to drive, yes or no? It's voluntary. Do you wish to perform any of the tests to show to me that you are okay to get behind the wheel again? I need an answer. Yes or no? >> Do you want to perform the field sobriety test, yes or no? >> If you stay quiet, I'm going to take it as a no. Okay? >> So, field sobriety tests or standardized field sobriety tests, some places call them voluntary field sobriety tests. A person can refuse to take those tests, and if you refuse to take those tests, it does not mean that you're not going to go to jail if they suspect you of driving under the influence. >> We live in Masada. Masada? We We own a business. We own a business. We We We run the We run the >> Hey, we're going to We're going to have to join the car. >> I wasn't driving. >> Yes, that's what I'm >> I told you, right? I was like >> You can't drive. >> Shut the [ __ ] up. I told you I can't drive, right? >> You're not driving. >> With all due respect, sir. >> No. >> What'd you say? With all due respect, sir, I can't drive, right? But >> Did I say anything you What I said, you're not driving. >> You're really respectful. >> Yes. >> Yes, sir. I was the whole time. >> Stay with her, please. >> Yes, sir. >> Yes. >> Listen. I just said you're not able to drive, okay? >> I I need to drive, sir. >> Okay. >> Yes, sir. >> You're not driving, okay? >> I I wasn't. >> Okay, you're going to We're going to have to to find a way for you to go home. You're not driving this car from here, okay? >> I wasn't driving, sir. >> Okay, no, you're fine. You're fine. >> It's good for me. What are you doing here? >> Shut up. >> She's going to go in the car? >> That's for her. >> car. >> Take me in. Shut up. >> So sometimes you heard the guy tell the officer shut the F up and the officer posted up on the guy and he was like, "What did you say?" And the wife was like trying to make the husband be quiet. And the many times you'll see people who are allegedly under the influence of alcohol act in that manner, it can become a thing. But she detected that it was getting confrontational and she's telling the husband to be quiet so that it doesn't escalate. >> Honey, you're safe. >> Do you have anything on you that >> Don't put me in the back of the car. >> Yeah, my piss. >> Okay. >> I wouldn't pee on you cuz I [ __ ] said I got to pee. >> Okay. >> What if I got a biopsy? >> So go ahead. Press this one titty on the right. >> Cuz I got to [ __ ] pee. Yeah, my chapstick. >> Okay, it's still going to come out of your >> Cuz it's really chappy. >> It's still going to come out of your pocket, so. >> Okay. >> Okay. Do you want this to go in your car? >> Whatever you want to do, boo boo. >> Okay. >> You know what? If you get a biopsy as a cancer patient, guess what happens? >> Okay, mom. >> Thank you. Thank you, Mommy. You know for the rest of your purse. >> So it's interesting that I'm noticing a lot of camera muting and I'm not saying that there's anything nefarious as sometimes the cameras are muted because there's some personal information that they are saying between each other, but you can see at the top where under Exxon it says muted and you can see that the officer mutes his camera. I'm not quite sure exactly when that occurs, but it's something that's interesting to watch because there are reasons why it can occur. >> Okay. It's strong, okay? Is there any Felicia I don't want to play around, okay? >> Yeah. >> Okay, Felicia. Let me just go and pee. Okay. >> She's going to read you this and then you can >> I'm going to read you this this and then after you can go pee, okay? >> Yeah. >> Okay, if you refuse to take the test, I'm going to ask you to to do the breathalyzer, okay? If you refuse to take the test I have requested of you, your driving privilege will be suspended for a period of 1 year for the first refusal. Additionally, if you refuse to take the test I have requested of you, you will be committing a misdemeanor of second degree. If this is your first refusal in addition to any other penalties which can be imposed by the law. If you refuse to take the test I have requested of you and if your driving privileges have been previously suspended or if you have been previously fined under statute 327.35215 for a refusal to submit to a lawful test of your breath, urine, or blood, your driving privilege will be suspended for a period of 18 months. Additionally, you will be committing a misdemeanor of first degree in addition to any of other penalties which can be imposed by the law. Refusal to submit to the test I have requested in addition into evidence in any criminal proceedings. Do you understand what I have just read to you? >> Yes. >> Okay. Do you still refuse to submit the test right now? >> Yes. >> Okay. So, you don't want to do the breathalyzer? >> Okay. Do you understand that your license will be Okay. >> 136. >> So, that's called implied consent. When you get a driver license in your state, every state has an implied consent rule or regulation or stipulation within your license that I know of. And basically, if you refuse, there are some administrative challenges you're going to run into, which means your license will be suspended or revoked in most jurisdictions. Now, how does that become a remediation for a person? Because they can just refuse and then their license is suspended or revoked and they're like, "Okay, whatever. I'll still just drive." Well, in a lot of states, driving on a revoked license in a lot of states, not every state, is arrestable. And in some states, it's a mandatory arrest. So, essentially, what is happening is you're not going to circumvent the process of drinking and driving by saying, okay, I'll just refuse to take a test, and then I'll just drive anyway on a revoked license and get a whole bunch of tickets. So, there has to be some form of mediation. Again, it's not that way in every state, but in a lot of jurisdictions that I know, that's the process. >> Did you give him your ID? >> Yes, sir. Everything I did I gave everything. >> I didn't do anything. >> I got you. As long as As soon as we figure something out, I'll keep you updated, all right? >> Yes, sir. >> In the meantime, just going to hang out. >> Listen, like It's me and my wife just going out to dinner. >> Hey, what's your name? >> My name is Alex Zuniga. >> You have a phone you can provide over, okay? >> Listen, we just we just want to go out to dinner today. >> Yeah, I know, but you guys can't drive drinking drive, okay? You can go call Uber. You got to get Uber to go home. >> All right, let me ask you something. What did we [ __ ] up on? >> Well, you she can't drive. >> Okay. >> She can't drive like that. >> Okay. And what did we [ __ ] up on? >> Sir, when I opened the car and I made contact [snorts] with you guys, I smelled alcohol from the car. You guys could not provide me the driver's license. >> drive though, right? >> Who? >> You just said >> She's driving. >> No, we just pulled in the parking, all right? >> Yes, sir, but you were on the road. That's why I stopped you guys, okay? >> Okay. >> All right? You understand now? >> Yes, sir. >> Okay. Get your phone, call an Uber. You can't drive this car. >> Yes, sir. >> Okay? >> No problem. >> you can go get her. >> Start the emerald? >> Yeah, one more. >> Can I get out of jail? >> Huh? >> The paperwork starts tomorrow. >> Yeah, what? The The paperwork The paperwork Can I get out of jail? >> What do you mean? >> To get out of jail, you just told me going to >> Yeah, you're going I'm going her tomorrow. She She's going to the jail. She can't drive, man. She can't drive. >> Well, but she wasn't driving though. >> So, she was driving. She was behind the wheel. >> Yes, sir. >> Okay. Who's driving this car? Her. >> You have your stuff you have your phone? You got to call the Uber, all right? >> No, everything well, I was a passenger. >> I I understand, but >> Yeah, but you got to go home, man. You got to You got to call the Uber. Okay? You can't drive right now. >> I don't know how to go home. >> You don't know how to go home? You don't know your address? >> Well, she drives. >> Ask her. She drives. >> drive. I don't drive. >> Get your phone and tell her to put the address for you. >> You don't know, well that's my wife. >> Yeah, I know. Get your phone, please. >> Where's your phone? >> Hey, remember sometimes wives need a lot. >> I know. I know. >> Don't be like that. Don't be a [ __ ] >> Yes, sir. >> Back up. >> I didn't mean it. I'm sorry. >> Can you get your phone and order the Uber so you can get out of here? >> Um if if if my pledge May I pledge? May I talk to him cuz he a [ __ ] But may I pledge? >> You're making you're making it worse for yourself. Back up. Get a phone and call the Uber. I don't see what's so hard about that. >> Why you don't talk with me? I explained to you I was nice to you. >> Yes, sir. >> Why you don't want to talk with me? >> I would love to talk to you. >> Okay. So, let me know what's going on. >> I can't drive. >> Yeah, you can. >> I can't. I'm I'm I'm a [ __ ] >> Okay. Yeah. >> I'm a immigrant. >> Huh? >> I'm a immigrant. >> Oh, but nobody said >> That has nothing to do with why we're here. >> Yes, sir. >> We're doing our job. You can't drive. You need to order an Uber so you can go home. You understand that? >> I understand that. >> Where's your phone? >> Can how what's going on? >> Dude, you got to call some You got to call the Uber or someone to pick you up. >> Can I stop this put this over right there? >> Who? This what? The car? >> No, just the car. >> No, this car is getting towed. This car is not It's not You're not going to take this car, my man. >> Oh, you [ __ ] >> Yeah, I'm a [ __ ] >> Yeah, you're a [ __ ] I understand how you doing, though. How you doing? All right, I'm sorry. >> Boss, the car The car is going to be towed. We will really get you home. Where's your phone? >> Don't worry about it. No. Is he a [ __ ] He's a honest man. >> I understand. >> Why is he a [ __ ] >> He just said that I'm a [ __ ] >> All right, boss. So, call an Uber. You got to get out. >> of Uber. Call an Uber and take the take the take the car. Take the Uber. >> Yeah, you have to pay for the Uber. >> Yeah, I'm a [ __ ] >> Yeah, yeah, he's a [ __ ] >> to talk to this man. Where's your phone? >> Go call the Uber. You got to go. Hey, stop. Hey, go back. Don't don't take no more steps. >> big, bro. >> I know I'm not. I know that. >> I can [ __ ] you up. >> Then try. You know, you can try. >> But, I respect I understand where you coming from. >> Okay. >> And I mean the world to you. >> Okay. >> Okay, let's stop right here and walk through what we're seeing. And this is a very common thing that ends up happening in policing, especially when there's alcohol involved with a person who's being obnoxious and belligerent. And there's more than one officer. Many times a person will take an extreme dislike to one of the officers. And we see here that the smaller officer, we can see that this subject and that officer, that guy has a thing for the officer. So far, the officer is doing a decent job of not letting his ego take over in the situation. But, these are the kinds of situations where it can go south. have lost their jobs for letting their ego get involved in a situation where a person is constantly going at them. Part of policing is understanding that people are going to say some really vile, rude, mean things to you. And you have to have thick enough skin to deal with it. And so, this is an opportunity to potentially tap out. Can the other two officers, he doesn't have an issue with those two. And maybe he might switch and have an issue with him, but we don't know. But, we know for sure with the smaller officer that he has an issue with him. So, is it possible to tap out at that point, that officer, and then just deal with the other two? It's a very good practice, and there are a lot of officers who might have have their jobs right now if they had engaged in that process. >> And I don't do not try, and I understand where you coming from. >> Okay. So, what are you going to do? You're going to call an Uber or what? >> No, I'm sorry. >> You're going to call an Uber or no? >> No, we're leaving for a lawyer though. >> Then call an Uber. You got to go home. >> No, I can't cuz it's my wife. Which one's your phone? Which one's your phone? Uh 42 uh >> No, which one? Where is it? Your phone? The location of your phone. >> Yes, yes, sir. Yes, sir. >> it? >> Yes, sir. >> Where is your phone? >> We're leaving for a lawyer though. >> Is this your phone? >> Yes, sir. Yes, sir. >> All right, what's your password? That's your phone? >> Yes, sir. >> Call an Uber now. >> Yes, sir. Stop talking to me. >> Hey, call your call an Uber. >> For what? >> So you can get a ride home. You ain't driving. >> You got to go home. >> Yeah, I ain't driving, but my wife is there. >> Yeah, your your wife isn't driving either. >> Yeah, yeah. >> She's taking a drive down to the station. >> do you want me to do? >> Call an Uber. >> Call an Uber for what? >> So you can go home. So you can go home. >> You're going to just sit here? >> I'm just going to find out what she what my wife is going >> Okay. Yeah, she's over there by the back of the car. Okay. >> Yeah, is my wife there? >> Yeah, she is. >> Stop. Stop talking to me. >> Call an Uber real quick. >> What are we doing? >> Just call somebody to come pick you up. Call an Uber. Do you have the Uber app? >> Yes, sir. >> Open your phone. >> Yes, sir. Yes, sir. >> Look, I'm going to walk you through it. Hold your phone. >> Yes, sir. I I know how to do it. >> so do it. I've been asking you this for the last 15 minutes. >> yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. >> So call an Uber. We're just trying to get you out of here, man. >> Yeah. >> So put your password in. >> Yes, sir. I'm sorry about that. See? It's the whole [ __ ] day. >> Well, go on the Uber app. >> I have the whole whole Uber. Go up. There you go. >> You don't have Uber? >> Stop talking to me. >> Then stay away from me then. >> Then get the [ __ ] away. Stop talking to me. You didn't say >> Stay away from me. >> You [ __ ] [ __ ] ass. You ain't [ __ ] You can't fight me. I'll [ __ ] you up. >> [ __ ] me up, then. >> What is your address? 1202 C Street? Yes, sir. >> You saw. >> Now we're seeing it starting to affect the officer a bit. I mean, he's done a really good job so far of not really engaging, but you can start to see, if you look at his body language and the way that he's staring him off, that it's starting to affect him. Again, a great opportunity to tap out. Young aspiring officers, there going to be people that are going to be trying to get under your skin. Remain professional. Tapping out does not mean that you're afraid. It doesn't mean anything but the fact that you know that this could potentially escalate. The drunk guy is the one who's escalating it. We don't want to buy into that. If you can tap out, there probably a lot of calls for service holding that you can likely take on. And any one of those other two officers are very capable of being able to handle this guy, if necessary. >> All right, it's going to be $20 for the Uber, all right? >> Yes, sir. >> Yes, sir. Can you face >> Yes, sir. >> Yes, sir. >> Yes, sir. >> You're a [ __ ] Remember that. >> There you go. >> You go Remember what we do for ourselves. We We do for ourselves. >> What do you do for yourself? >> You know, we do for immigrants. And you [ __ ] up on that [ __ ] >> Hey, do me a favor. Wash the [ __ ] uh at the back of the car. You want to go right here, right? Right here. You can just sit on the car. >> I'm an immigrant, too, bro. Stop it. But guess what But guess how I sleep. You're an [ __ ] >> All right, shut the [ __ ] up. >> You're a [ __ ] >> Good turn. >> You want to get your wife's purse out of the car? >> Hey, you're you're one step away from making it worse for yourself. >> You can't do [ __ ] >> You're one step away from making it worse for yourself. We're trying to help you out. >> Oh, I'm sorry. >> Now, you can either go home and then Uber, or Or can go somewhere else. We're not trying to do that to you. >> Oh, just relax. You need to calm the [ __ ] down. >> Can I please Can I please have my wife? >> He probably wants to go, too. That's why he kept acting out like that. >> You know how much my wife hates you guys? >> How much she what? >> Hates you guys? >> I don't know what you mean by that. >> I'm sorry. Are we done? >> Yeah, the Uber's on its way. >> Oh, he's here? How you doing, bro? All due respect. I didn't mean nothing. What is that? Look at me. >> Dude. Dude. You all right, bro? >> Stop. >> I didn't do nothing, bro. >> Don't stop, bro. Don't go step against me. [ __ ] you. You want to go? You're going to go, okay? >> you calm calm down, man. >> Don't take one more step against me. Come on. You want to go? You going, okay? 100 times. Yeah. Alex's going to get 16 for it. Oh my god. I don't know how much I have. I don't care, bro. Now, shut up, okay? Come on. Get up. >> What? I didn't do nothing, bro. I didn't do >> What? Get him up on the side. >> I didn't even do nothing wrong to you. I didn't even do nothing. Come on, bro. >> I advised you multiple times. We all did. >> I don't have nothing. I don't have I don't even do >> I said he's good. >> I don't even do nothing. I don't do I didn't tell you. You You know, I do Trust me. I'm telling you, bro. I don't do nothing. Get the [ __ ] out of here. A [ __ ] come at me and I'll [ __ ] you [ __ ] you guys up. >> Now, you said you're going to [ __ ] me up. >> Yeah, but I don't do nothing. I don't I don't even [ __ ] do nothing. >> Huh? Come on. Put your shoe on. >> I wasn't even >> Come on. >> Put your shoe on. >> You're good. You're good. It's all right. >> Sir, I didn't do nothing. >> Hold on. No, god damn. Yo, put your [ __ ] shoe on. >> All right. Don't tell me tell me to put my [ __ ] shoe on. >> of talking to you like this. I've been talking to you for the last 30 minutes. You know what I'm >> Just come back to the car. >> You ain't even you don't even want to show me >> Oh, [ __ ] Are you serious? You searching me? >> Whatever you want to do. >> Yeah. Yeah. >> We're ready to go. >> Yeah, I'll do one more. Spread your feet. >> When you when you get bored, you'll talk to me. >> Yes, sir. >> When we get bored >> We got to take him to the hospital. >> Do you have any answers? >> You want me to take him? >> Drunk. >> You want me to take him? >> Yeah, he's drunk. Yeah. >> I'm putting him on the car. >> Yes, sir. I don't even know this guy. >> In custody, a lot of interesting things here and the writing was kind of on the wall where this potentially was going to go. Definitely a documentable use of force. Some things that I'd like to point out as we look in here. So, we see here that the subject came at the officer. The officer grabs him, sweeps his leg, takes him down to the ground. So, it's definitely a visible use of force and you clearly see that the guy's coming at the officer. Here's the challenge that we're witnessing that multiple times with this face-off and this face fighting is what we call in New York where they're staring at each other and the aggression continues to grow. Does that mean that an officer has to leave? Absolutely not. It doesn't mean an officer has to leave, but now where are we? This person is continuing to go at this one officer. As I mentioned before, can the other two handle that and can we go ahead calls or can we go handle something else or can we just go stand back away at the back of the patrol car and just watch if necessary? Because it's likely going to escalate. The officer did not want to have to do that. But, continually standing there like that, and the guy continues to go at him, it's a recipe for a use of force. And what happens if you have a use of force? Every single one of them gets documented, and even if you're cleared in them, the number of use of force that you have gets looked at. Looking at this officer, I can say this. He looks like that he's in really good shape. I mean, he looks like he's in good shape. He's the only one who can answer if he's in the fight of his life. But, I can tell you a couple things. By looking at him, it looks like he has cauliflower ear. Now, I don't know for sure, cuz it's kind of a bit of a grainy video. And a lot of guys that I train with have that, and I know why. From rolling on the ground and having your outer ear rubbed like that, the tissue ends up getting damaged, and you get cauliflower from wrestling, jiu-jitsu, [clears throat] any one of those things. And he looks like he trains. And the way that he did that leg sweep and took him down, he looks like he's can handle business. And people who are in that conditioning are not going to let someone come up on them like that. My point here is, can we avoid the use of force if it's just a belligerent drunk person? Because the guy smacks his head on the ground, or he hits his face. Cuz it looked like he hit his head on the concrete. If we can potentially avoid that, we deal with difficult people. We're paid to deal with difficult people. And this is not me second-guessing him. 72 degrees, I always say that. I've been in these types of situations. I've made mistakes that I'm talking to you about, and I want to see young aspiring officers make the right choices in those circumstances. Could just leaving and handling calls while the other two handle this guy waiting for an Uber? Waiting for an Uber? Could that have happened? Because at the end, another officer ended up taking him to the hospital so that they didn't have an exchange on the way to the next location. >> [ __ ] man. [ __ ] >> So, the officer, it sounded like he wasn't very happy he first realized that he had to impound all that stuff in the purse was left in because you have to be meticulous. You have to go through every single thing so that no one says that something was taken and you have to document everything and those impounds can end up taking some time. I'd like an officer who's really versed in body cam stuff as far as a department that mute a lot. If you could just in the comment section chime in as to why there's so much muting. I mean, throughout the whole video there's a whole bunch of muting. I know sometimes sensitive things are muted, but I can see here that it's muted and he's just doing an impound of a vehicle and there's no one else there. I'm not quite sure. So, if someone can chime in as to why that occurred so much in this video. >> I got to search you one more time and then I'll put you in the squad I know you really have to use the restroom, okay? Watch your step. You got to realize I know you're trying, right? Your jewelry's going to have to come off, okay? Mhm? That's fine. I I am. Can you relax? >> Just shut up and come on. >> Do you need to use the restroom or not? >> Yes, I said that like 30 minutes ago. >> So, I mean, if you >> If you hurry up, I can use the restroom. >> If I need to take off all your jewelry first. >> Then take it off. >> I'm trying. >> It's not It's my wedding band. >> Okay. >> Have you taken off your wedding band? No, cuz you don't have one. >> No, I don't wear one. >> Cuz I You wear a magnet 10 years. It don't come off that easy. >> Well, I'm trying to help you. >> It's called taking it off. Look. >> Well, I don't want to injure you. >> If you were a real criminal, you could take it off. >> Well, I'm not trying to injure you. >> Look. This is what it can do. Look. >> Okay. >> Criminals do this. >> What? >> Come on. Get your [ __ ] together. Come on. >> Why are you so mad? >> Cuz I'm tired. >> Okay. >> I'm [ __ ] tired. You [ __ ] ass >> Well, I didn't even stop you for that. >> Did your brother do this [ __ ] >> Yeah. >> Yeah. >> I need to take off your earrings. >> All right, take it off. Come on. I'm tired. I got to [ __ ] pee. >> What is the attitude for? >> My car. Yeah, cuz I'm tired. I was just 5 minutes from my house. >> Sit down. Take off your jewelry, the bracelet you have on, right? Good lord. Good lord, your jewelry comes off. Look, easy lemon squeezy. >> Okay. I need you to take off your >> [ __ ] lemon squeezy. >> And you can't take your jacket in with you. If you get cold, I'll give you a blanket, but that's you can't take this. It's probably so many weeks, and I can't be patient, so >> Something really interesting I'd like to take note of. This lady was being very, very rude, being obtuse, a bit aggressive to a point where I would've been like, "Whoa, you know, slow down a bit." But this officer, super duper calm, probably has amazing blood pressure, doesn't take anything personal, not likely going to lose their job because they're going to get upset because someone does something to them, and they respond improperly. It's really good to see officers be able to handle things with such a calm, cool, collected demeanor. Very good. This process is really interesting cuz in a lot of jurisdictions, the arresting officer, the transporting officer, doesn't do all of that jewelry removal and all that stuff. That's usually done by corrections officers in a lot of jurisdictions, but some do it this way. >> Take off your sunglasses, you can't take them in there. Good. >> Hey, wake up. Let's go. Hey, wake up. Hey, wake up. Let's go. Let's go. Wake up. Hey, stand up. Go. on, come on. Get up. >> You got to go to the hospital, come on. You got to go to the hospital. Get up. You got to get up, come on. Get up. Get up. Sit up. You didn't have to hurt me. >> No, I didn't. >> Okay, stand up. You got to go to the hospital. You know there's a reason why I'm here right now, right? >> Yeah. >> Okay. Okay. >> My My shoes are about to fall off. >> You got to take your shoes off, that's okay. >> Oh, my bad. Okay. >> Cool. >> You really doing this? >> Sit down. Yo, sit down. I got to search you. >> Yes, sir. Oh, oh, no, come on. I'm not I'm >> Sit down. Face that camera right there. Spread your feet. You got a receipt? >> Yeah, I'll take it. >> Take your shirt off. >> My shirt? >> Yeah. Put the shirt right here. And then just take all your jewelry off. >> Oh. >> Your earrings. Do me a favor, just put the earrings together. >> Yes, sir. Yeah. >> Yeah, just put them together. That's fine, you can just put them >> Oh, [ __ ] >> All right, put it right there. I'll leave it there. Take your ring off. You can back up. >> Sorry. >> Take your jewelry off. And then you're going to leave your shoes right here, outside the door. Yeah, you can leave them right there. And then you're just going to walk in there. All right, man. Which one do you want? You got a bathroom and water right there, right? >> Easy. My shoes are about to fall off. >> Just letting you know so you don't want to start tripping. This one? >> That's fine. Don't worry about it. You don't have to take it off your garments. >> All right. I'm just letting you know so you don't start tripping. >> You want to hold this one? And then you can go out that way. Stand behind the white line for your belongings. You can stand right there on top of the white line. >> So this is interesting because it's now about 6:13 in the morning. So the stop and started at little after 1:18, I believe, in the morning. So look at the amount of time that has elapsed and you have these officers off the street. And you see this really interesting husband and wife in handcuffs going inside of this jail facility. And it's really interesting because the word in Spanish for wife is handcuff. When people act in this manner together that they end up in jail together, it's just really sad, but I've seen it so many times that the behavior of couples when alcohol's involved and the police end up showing up, it's got to be better than this. I mean, 5 hours, all these officers and what they're going to have to deal with after the fact. >> Is that the one though? I'll just search you in front of them and then I'll move your handcuffs to the >> Thank you. >> I'm here. This is your copy for your car. >> Yeah. What do I have to do? >> Just sign right here, okay? This is going to be your copy for all your property that's coming with you. This is all your stuff, okay? And the cash is all going with you. The receipt from the cash is going to be with your property. >> According to the report that I have here, it says that the female refused to take any of the tests, that she received citations for DUI first offense, failure to submit to a breath test, driver window non-transparent, which was the tint that you saw him checking, and failure to drive in a single lane. And I have the paperwork here for the husband. It looks like his charges according to the report, and this is the official report, corruption by threat against a public servant, assault against a law enforcement officer. I guess that's when he went at the officer. And obstructing an officer without violence. And he was transported to Broward Health, [music] and then he went to BSO main jail. Alcohol-related situations are probably the most common in policing, [music] and a lot of times like this, they don't end up well. Hopefully, this couple makes better choices going forward [music] because what we witnessed on this video, not wise choices. Which leads me to some better choices that were made, and one of them is a person who decided to do something really cool. You may have seen it in the frame. I got this really cool LEGO car, and it says, "Place mini sergeant Curtis inside and pursue bad guys. Woo woo." I'm embarrassed to say do that, but I have to if a person is going to be that kind to do this. They didn't say I could say their name, so I'm not going to say their name cuz I really respect people's privacy, but I think that that LEGO car is incredibly cool, and it has found a home, so I want to say thank you. I truly appreciate it. So, now as we're approaching the one-year mark for the channel, I mentioned it before, I want to talk about this more in depth. We're going to do something really special for the one-year anniversary. If you are an officer on a department of 100 or less officers, I know how hard it is to get different trainings. [music] One of the premier conferences is coming up in October, and we want to send a thank you back to all the people who have viewed the channel. We're going to give an all-expense for an officer to attend the training at the International Association of Chiefs of Police conference, which is held annually. I will be in attendance, and you will be able to go to all the classes. You will get a per diem. You're going to also [music] receive a certificate for a brand new vest. You're also going to receive a brand new body cam, and you're going to be coined by me at the event. We're going to give all the details on how you can apply, but you are going to need approval from the head of your department and a letter of recommendation from your sergeant. This one's It's to be about oath of office. You're going to have [music] to give a short video to talk about your oath of office, what it means to you, and how you plan to implement your oath of office in the way that you interact with the public going forward. We're going to tell you how you can send those submissions in. Get the word out to everyone if you're on a department of under 100, and the reason why I did that is because a lot of those department members don't get the opportunity to get training, and this is something that this channel is about, and I really am embracing the opportunity to do this. The other thing that I'm really excited about is the memorial opportunity for my mom is the Dot Legacy Scholarship. My mom's name was Dot, and she was really about giving. So, at this channel, what we've decided to do is give a $1,000 scholarship for an aspiring criminal justice student that's in high school about to go into school or a criminal justice or related field that is already in school, and they just need a little boost for a scholarship. Very soon, we're going to be putting up exactly what you need to do to apply for that scholarship, and we're very excited about doing this. This channel is about giving back. So many wonderful things have happened as this channel's continued to grow, [music] and please, if you will, take a moment to subscribe. I look and it seems like a lot of the people who watch very frequently just don't subscribe or haven't subscribed yet. So, please make a point of subscribing to the channel. We want to start to do a lot of wonderful things. We want to continue to keep this positive momentum going. If you like this kind of content, like the video, subscribe to the channel, and click on the video that's on your screen for more content just like this.
