This is the opportunity the mother take to do by snatch or trying to snatch kids. >> Everyone just picking at me. She can't. >> But in the eyes of the law, no excuse holds any waste. >> I'm getting a ticket for children. >> What happened with the masking tape? >> No family, no nothing. My family's 9 and 1 half hours away. Please don't tell me. No, no, no, no. Very hard. >> When all the justifications fall apart, the truth remains cold and without mercy. One report, one child saved. But this time, what truth is about to be exposed? >> Ma'am, I just want to tell you what I just witnessed. And And I don't know if it's just me being overprotective or if I'm just crazy. >> Okay. What's going on? >> This lady left an infant child alone in a vehicle. >> 5:15 p.m. April 19th, 2022. A 911 call rang out at the Brunswick Police Department in Ohio, reporting that a baby, just over a year old, had been left alone inside a car. Police rushed to the scene and what they found was the running engine, unlocked doors, and the mother had casually joined the crowd of shoppers at the Dollar Tree. [Music] >> Hi. Hi. >> Yeah, just go leave that door open so it doesn't overheat. >> Just left the kid here like it was nothing, guys. Yeah, >> I'm going to go find her. Hang out. >> 26 >> 30. >> All right. >> She went >> 26. >> Hey. >> Hey, buddy. >> 37. >> I was originally parked right here. >> Yeah. And I watched her get out and I'm like, "What the hell?" >> Yeah. >> And then I thought it was a joke >> and she she wasn't young either, man. >> I don't know. It's better to keep this. >> Where'd she go? >> Dollar Tree. He's going to save a lot. >> 25. She went into the Dollar Tree. I wonder if I should keep this closed for the baby. I don't know. >> I opened it. Okay. >> Because he went around and opened that door, so I opened it up to make sure the baby was breathing and everything. >> Yeah, we got the keys there. >> But it was running and stuff. They had the car running. Hey, does it look like he got a blanket or anything back there? >> No. >> Hi. >> How old does he look? I mean, >> I don't know. Young. >> I told the dispatcher. I said he only looked I I said I seen him through the window. I said he looks like a few months. I said he only looks like a few months young to me, man. Think >> it's all right for for drink? Look at that. That's crazy, dude. >> And the lady's not young. I mean, she looks like she knows better than like a 64 year old lady in the car. >> Yeah. >> Oh, trust me, I know. >> Oh my god. >> Be a fun day to be a cop today. >> They had been on the case for a while, but the mother's whereabouts were still a mystery. >> She in there? Not that I can see. I saw her. >> It comes back to like a 64 year old. What did she look like? >> I'll identify her, man. >> All right. >> I see her. We We'll wait for her to come out. >> I see her walk out when I see >> I'm sure she's in there. I just I couldn't >> What does she look like? >> It wasn't the She didn't look 64 to me, bro. >> What does she look like? >> She didn't look 64. >> Her? >> No. >> Okay. All right. We'll just wait for her to come. >> Hey. >> Hi. >> Hi. I said it it looked she looked like maybe she was in her 30s or so better. >> She left this unlocked and with the key. >> The vehicle is unlocked with the keys. Yeah. >> I'm going to go get it. >> Well, just wait right here for us. What was she wearing? My name is David. And then Kayla Jenkins casually walked out and coldly said she was sleeping. I just went in for a minute. Oh, so now a baby's nap can apparently summon anti-kidnapping powers and resist heat. >> You left your baby in an unlocked car out here while you go to Dollar Tree. What are you doing? >> She was asleep so I just ran into >> You can't leave your child out if an infant in the car. One, it's 55° out with the sun on them. Two, that car is unlocked. Anybody could have came and taken that kid and left. All right. You see how dumb that was? >> Yeah. >> Okay. Do you have a license on you? >> All right. Hang out with this officer. >> Go over here, baby. Make sure she's all right. Other side. Thanks, man. >> All right, you can sit in your car. You can stay there. It's up to you. >> What's going to happen? >> You're going to find out in a second. >> The more she talked, the more her carefree mask began to slip. Kayla wasn't employed, refused to provide her mother's phone number, the owner of the car, and still seemed confused as to why she was being bothered by the consequences of her own actions. I can add. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. I mean, this car comes back to a 64 year old lady. >> Yeah. Is the child's father in the picture? Is this your mother's vehicle? What's her contact information? >> What's going on? >> Dad's not in the picture. I'm going to get grandma's info. >> Okay. >> All right. Your mother's the registered owner of this vehicle. >> Yeah. >> What's her phone number? >> What is going on? >> You're going to be getting some paperwork here in a second. So, what is your mother's contact information? Can I know what's going on? >> You're going to be getting a ticket for children. So, what is your mother's contact information? >> Why do you need her? >> In case Madina County Job and Family Services need contact her, contact me. I live with her. >> What is her contact information? >> Phone number for her. >> What's the child's name? What's that? Jenkins. >> Middle name. What's her birth date? So, what? She's one. What is she like? 14 months old. Yeah. I mean, do you think it's smart to leave a 14-year-old in a car unlocked and running regardless if you're in Brunswick or not? >> I just >> What is your mother's phone number? >> Why can't they just call me? >> What is your mother's >> Why can't they just call me? >> They probably will call you. Did he give that officer your phone number? What's your phone number? Are you employed? You're currently unemployed. What is your mother's phone number? >> I don't understand. I'm of age. >> What is Do you live with your mother? >> Yeah. >> Is it your father there? >> No. >> Which phone number? >> That's not even >> She's currently unemployed. She doesn't want to give her mother's phone number. forced the police to explain in person along with the court summits. Perhaps this time the young mother began to sober up. >> You'll see on the news baby suffocating in the back of cars, dying cuz he kidnapped all that stuff. I mean, somebody could have just grabbed your car and gone with your child. All right, Kayla, you're getting charged with your children. You have a court date on the citation right here. 41922 at 5:15 p.m. in Brunswick Mayor's Court. You do have to appear. If you don't appear, it's not a waveable offense. If you don't appear, they're going to put a warrant out for you after this. any subsequent offenses of this is a felony, right? So, if you leave your child in cars or whatever, then this is a very serious thing. It's a first-degree misdemeanor. It will be in mayor's court this time. Like I said, do this again and charge of a felony. Could very easily be kidnapped or die. It's a serious issue, right? Make sure you appear in court, right? If you're contacted by generally any charge like this, you'll be contacted by JFS. They're going to make sure you're not going to do it again. Pay attention to a call. Do you have any questions for me? Do you understand why this is such a big deal? >> Yeah. >> Okay. I understand it was an error in judgment and it was just a dumb decision, but that very often leads to the kid dying stroke in the back of the car or getting kidnapped. Right. Really, this is a better outcome than us finding a kid dead in the back of the car. All right. Understand that? >> You understand? Okay. Do you have any questions about the citation? >> What What happens in the court? Well, you're going to go to court. It's not a trial court. You're going to enter your plate. Right at that point, >> Kayla's action, which seemed like just a few minutes, wasn't simply careless. It was a risk to her child's life. The baby could have been kidnapped, suffered fatal heat stroke, or quietly suffocated if she had vomited and no one was there to notice. Do you have any questions for me? I don't. Um, if you have any questions, call the Brunswick Police Department. Don't leave your kid in the car again. You understand? So, what's going to happen is you're going to go to court. You're enter. the mayor will give you a set. Likely for your first offense, it's going to be some type of fine. You can work out a payment plan, whatever you got to do. Make sure you don't do this again. I don't want to find your kid dead somewhere. Seriously, that's why it's such a big issue. >> I do take this really serious. >> Listen, and I get it. It was an error of judgment. It's a learning experience, but so many times parents will walk away. >> Just thought she would be okay cuz the car was running right there. >> I understand. But you understand somebody can just grab this kid and go. You're lucky it was an offduty police officer that found them. All right. instead of somebody who just decided they want a kid. You gota you got to keep an eye on her. It happens and all of a sudden you come out and your kid's gone. Then what do you do? There's no cameras here. We don't know where she went. Probably never see her again. You understand? It's a dangerous thing. Okay. All right. >> Get yourself home. Calm yourself down. Okay. It's just it was a mistake. Take care of it and it's over. All right. >> Just don't do it again. You understand? I don't want to be looking for your kid everywhere looking somebody who kidnaps your kid. You understand? You clearly care about your child. I don't think you're a bad parent. I think you made this really stupid decision. Don't make it again. Get it taken care of. >> All right. >> All right. >> What? >> Why did you want my mother's >> Well, because generally we have a second point of contact for JFS. And if the father's not around, then something like that. So, okay. Put your kid in the car seat. >> Now, imagine if your car was open, right? >> It's a good point, too. >> Let's put your kid in the car seat, calm down a little bit, and get yourself home. Okay. >> Kayla Jenkins was charged with during children. class A misdemeanor that under Ohio law carries a penalty of up to 6 months in jail or a fine of up to $1,000. In reality, however, she received a much lighter sentence, just a $330 fine. So, what do you think? Was that a fair punishment? Loving your child isn't enough. Adults need both responsibility and rational thinking. Because when immaturity, recklessness, and denial take the wheel, it's the innocent kids who suffer the consequences. Just as the case in Ohio came to a close, a new tragedy unfolded in Florida. An 8-year-old boy was disciplined by his parents by using duct tape. >> So, he just masking tape him and then where did he just just put him in his room or did he put him on the couch here or >> On February 9th, 2025, police in St. Petersburg, Florida, received an urgent call from the DCF reporting suspected involving an 8-year-old boy. At the scene, they found the boy wrapped tightly in duct tape from his shoulders down to his legs, completely unable to move. But what outraged everyone even more was the mother's cold excuse. We were just trying to control him. >> If you want to sit down, you can. It's up to you. Or just make it comfortable. It's going to be a minute. >> Okay. >> Okay. We're out here. We got the report, DCF report. So, police, we just come to back her. But some things he's saying is alarming and we're just looking further into it. Doesn't mean anybody's in trouble. just means we're doing our job is further investigating and it's either they're going to go one way or the other way. Does that make sense? >> Okay. So, let me grab what's information. Okay. So, I can get that information so I can grab that from you after. What's your first name? >> Alex. >> By having him here, you're going to persuade >> just for that one question. >> Which you can tell me which you can tell then we can do it. You know what I mean? Cuz by >> There was never any do. >> Okay. What is he talking about? You know, you obviously know what he's talking about. >> I know what he's talking about. And it was masking tape. >> Masking tape. That explains why it's blue. Gotcha. What happened with the masking tape? >> It was a day um few months back. He was being uncomfortable. It means that if his mind is not set right, which is most of the time, he will oppose with all that he has. And surprisingly enough, all that he has is quite scary. He is mightier than you would expect a grown-up to be. And that day, he was being uncontrollable. We were at his therapist afternoon. >> I just don't understand. What's uncomfortable? >> Uncontrollable. >> Uncontrollable. Okay. We were at his therapist that same day in the afternoon and uh we were scared because he almost uh he almost threw the table. >> So he just masking tape him and then where did he just just put him in his room or did he put him on the couch here or on a chair? >> He has a a double-decker bed in his room and and and he has the lower part is a sofa bed. >> Oh, okay. Okay. So they put him there and was so out of himself that well we heard him yell and then not yell that's when I said uh-oh and then he yelled again so I went in >> and he was so out of himself that from the sofa he managed to roll onto the floor and he hurt his chin. >> Okay. Yeah. I saw the mark which would make sense cuz he's Okay. Okay. So, he rolled, hit his chin. Was there a lot of blood or no? >> Oh, yes. >> Oh. But instead of taking the boy to the hospital, they chose to handle it themselves at home. >> Was EMS called or did you guys just control the bleeding? Was ambulance called or did you just control the bleeding? >> No, we control the bleeding. We managed. My husband has proper training. I have experience. We used to live on a boat. So, >> what does your husband do? >> He works for a software company called Red Hat. >> Okay. Do you ever recall ever? He's got the mark above his eyebrow. You know what happened with the mark? >> He always had it. >> The red mark. >> Red mark. >> Yeah. There's a little like a fresh red mark right above his left eye. He says he's saying dad kicked him yesterday to cuz he was doing that high pitch squeal thing he does. So >> I don't. >> Okay. >> Yeah, he he said that. Uh I'm trying to think uh else talk about dad. Ah, so it's the boy's negative mindset that's to blame, not the adults who did nothing wrong. >> Relationship with many people. >> Gotcha. >> He is he tends to retain only the negative things. For example, he will say that at the playground he never gets the swings >> when reality gets the swings. >> And when you dig in a little bit, you find out that it's something that happened once a couple weeks ago. >> Okay. I mean, now that you say I can see it, he's >> and and sometimes he's being very pushy because he doesn't have he doesn't understand boundaries. He doesn't understand personal space. He doesn't understand social cues and sometimes his will push him away and he will said that hit him. >> Gotcha. Okay, that makes more sense. >> These days, parents have many ways of disciplining their children and yelling has become the norm. But things changed when the mother began to stammer. Her story didn't quite add up. >> Poor therapists. And watch out, your center gets sprayed. >> Oh, sugar plum fairy. >> As far as his schooling, does he go to like does he have like a teacher? >> Yes. So, this uh this school uh it's not inated as a school, but it works as a school. >> Okay. Um >> what's it called? >> Okay. So, it's >> that's a school. I missed it. >> It's not incorporated as a school. That's why it's called a tutoring place and homeschool. >> Does he have a specific tutor that he works with there? Like oneon one? >> It's No, it's just one tutor for all the kids. It's seven kids at the moment. >> What's that tutor's name? >> Blush Borson. >> Okay. Yeah. So, it starts >> Oh, she she will have a few things to say about first. >> Okay. Like I said, our my role is just to gather as much information just to kind of show like the patterns and stuff. No, it's um I was like, "Oh, no. >> It's it's a right there." >> Um just to kind of establish like what's going on. Besides that, I will definitely be back most likely tomorrow touch base with just to kind of see like what his side is, what his story is, and then obviously they >> a couple more quick questions. So, he he responds to pain and he snaps back together. You were talking about sometimes when you get frustrated, do you ever go further than the limit or your your husband ever go further than the limit? You think you know what I mean? Like cuz I know you said when you get frustrated. I'm just trying to piece in. I don't know after he keeps running by the door and peeking his head out. So I see what you're talking about where he's grabbing the cat. Sorry, my nose. >> Um, >> you know, we're forgot about the Super Bowl. I was like, what is everybody? >> We're doing our best as to >> teach him, correct him, and keep our sanity. I don't blame you. Um >> um and I tend to yell. >> I got yelled at. >> Uh because it's often the only way that he will snap out of something and do it, you know, and >> super nice. He's just a puppy. >> He's adorable. >> Hi, baby. I love doggies. >> I love doggies. Yes, I do. All right. Well, >> should I put him inside? >> Yes, please. And then we'll do the same thing. We'll talk to him and then we'll get this wrapped up. >> We're just going to talk to him separately. >> Yeah. Yeah. We have to It's part of the job. >> I love the light in the back. >> But the father's statement went far beyond yelling. From pouring cold water, chasing around the house, raising fists to even threatening. It seems that for these parents, psychological torture was their chosen substitute for patience. >> Can you recall when this happened? >> Precisely. No, but that was before Christmas. for Christmas? >> I would say a few weeks before Christmas. He was at the peak of his of the excitement for Christmas. So that was making him >> get all antsy. >> Yeah. >> Is this the first time you utilize masking tape in that way? >> Yes. I had closed his door once using masking tape, but uh that's that's it. >> Was there a lot of blood when he fell cuz it is a face? >> Not that much. No, >> not that much. >> But we had to put I think Alex had to put something like three strips on it. >> Okay. >> It wasn't cut definitely. >> Yeah. Okay. Uh so have you ever seen he was saying that that struck him in the back before. Have you ever seen use physical is that sometimes the physicalness will set him right. He will feel the pain and then like act normal like the pain will be his receptors to go to acting normal. So I'm trying to piece that. >> Notice that personally >> in Florida like he was telling her in Florida you are allowed to corporal your child. So, you're allowed to use uh like spanking and all that. Uh certain types of things that you can like belt some of them. >> Well, I was myself punished physically by my dad and I really don't want to reproduce that. So, I don't >> So, you just scoop him. >> Scooped him. Put him on. >> So, you picked him up, you brought him. Did you scoop Do it in the living room or did you just go to his room? Cuz she said there's a double decker in the room. >> I went to the couch. He has under his bed. >> Yeah, that's what she said. Okay. And then you taped him. You just kept taping him. And then he just sat there and >> and he was lying. >> And then he bumped >> and then he must have jumped like a snake or rolled over. I don't remember. >> And then uh patched them up. Who took him out of the tape? >> We did. >> Okay. >> As soon as we uh we heard a change in tone. Alex went to see. She told me uh you >> have you ever have you ever punched him in the back or something? Because he says that sometimes you'll chase him with your fist up and he gets scared. He'll try to outrun you. >> I chase him quite often. >> Punch him in the back. Not that I can't really recall. >> What happens if you catch him? So if you're chasing, you catch him. That is >> generally super. So I I I gra him and I maintain him. >> So you got trampoline, you got the cold shower. There's got to be stuff that makes him snap out of his uh reality, I guess you could say. Cuz >> what what works most of the time when he's not too high is for us to ask him to go either outside or in his room. >> But what if he's defiant? The cold shower made sense because if he's defiant, you're trying to snap him out of it because I'm assuming he's not going to get in there. >> Uh the best thing that works is if we can ignore him. When we say if we can is if he's not in our face, >> which he's going to be in your face. >> But well, not not always because sometimes he's just loud but not in our face. >> Got different in which case if you ignore him. >> Is there any other physical stuff like the shower? Cuz the shower makes sense cuz when it the water hits him, it's going to take him out of his reality. Is there any other >> if you have suggestions on taking >> No, I'm just asking because uh I'm trying to piece everything together and because my job is to find the reasons and the intent behind stuff and then now I see the your reason was to get him to calm down and snap out of his reality there. Is there any other >> Well, we we the the one tool we have right now he he gets $5 a month every time he misbehave. and take Miller hurts me like anywhere and then tries to take pants off to spank what? >> So I'm just trying to He's eight years old. I'm trying to piece >> when he was when he was four. That was one of the uh the thing where take your take your pants off. You're going to get spanked. Didn't get spanked, but that was that was the verbal menace. >> Gotcha. Still, like I said, still legal. But when he says when he goes from does physical violence and then he says right after that hurts me like anywhere. What kind of stuff does there's got to be more to the story for an 8-year-old to be saying that. You see what I'm saying? So that's what I'm trying to piece and debunk because when your wife is talking about, okay, yeah, we do his hands like this. Like, okay, that makes sense. You're trying to calm him down. I get it. What I'm trying to do is debunk everything. So when he's saying this, I'm trying to say, okay, >> I don't know what he's referring to because apart from me potentially hurting him because he wiggles because I'm restraining him, I I'm not applying any force on him with the intent to hurt him. >> Yeah. >> An unbelievable detail emerged. They brought out a certificate of French boy scout to justify treating the child on their own. But they forgot one crucial fact. This is America and it's American law they have to follow. >> I don't understand. I I am cooperating. >> Just Yeah. Step four. Okay. >> Yep. Okay. Hold on. 3:30 Delta. Can you get a text? >> Okay. Just almost like you're praying. Whatever's comfortable for you. However you want to. >> Is that the easiest way for you? >> I was not very flexible on this. >> Yeah, you're good. >> So, it's, you know, >> I get it. Double lock that. And then the other Let's >> have them have a seat real quick. >> Yeah. If you want to take a seat. >> Just take a seat right there. Okay. And the second thing is he wants us to also arrest you. >> Oh, >> excuse me. What are you going to talk about? >> I will explain all that. I'm trying to keep it on possibly of neighbors and then I'll explain everything and reasons why. >> No, I need I need to I need to turn off the stove. >> Okay, we will help you with everything. So, I will explain everything to you here in a sec to do how to do. And when I asked her how how you got it, she told me you used to be a boy scout and you became the boy scout. I didn't get the opportunity to tell you that he did get a proper certification for that. >> Not for stitches. >> From >> not for stitches, but but for >> what? >> From the the Boy Scout in France, >> which that doesn't. Listen, my wife's from France. She's directly from France. She doesn't even have a citizenship yet. I get it. But things when you come to a different country, you have to follow our rules and laws. Just like when I go to France, I have to follow French rules and laws. That makes sense. Here, you cannot do that. putting the tape around his hand to go throw him in the uh lock him in the cuddy or whatever the cabin. You still can't restrain him like that. It's not like you're simply stopping him from hurting himself. Like he's punching himself and you're stopping him by you like grabbing him, chasing him around the house. Grab him and then to tape him up like that. It's not right. You see what I'm saying? Any common If we went and asked the neighbor, any common denominator, everybody would say that's kind of messed up. You don't you don't do that. I don't know if that's how they do it. France, I never heard about it. Now he told me stories >> for me it was a way to avoid spanking or >> correct >> but we're allowed to do that. >> That's what I heard but I didn't know. >> But with him saying >> we're allowed to hurt him as long as as long as we don't leave any marks. >> Technically you can't hurt him and they intend you cannot intend to hurt him. You can intend to correct the action. So when you talked about the frustrations and everything sometimes you get frustrated when doing so. You see what I'm saying? It it's it's a big no no. So that's why we're at where we're at now. >> They still seem blind to the serious consequences. Tying up a child with duct tape not only poses physical dangers like falling or restricted circulation, but can also leave deep psychological scars like PTSD. >> School found out about it. Well, you know, he had a bandit for a while. It wasn't hidden. It was >> hidden or not, it's still happened. >> That's what we have to understand. If I understand correctly, uh they are here to make a judgment based on facts, not the circumstances. And given the facts, the we are linked to we are charged with a felony, which may be applied by a judge or not. >> We're only the front line or judge might see you tomorrow and be like, you know what, you guys are good. Good. I I don't know how that uh works because it's >> Are we Are we going to be held until tomorrow? >> Monday. So, yeah, you will get to talk to the judge more than likely in the morning. Oh my goodness. So, >> and I also want to prepare you guys based on the charges as well. I don't know for certain because I'm not a judge. Can't see into the future, but based on my experience with doing this, there is a high probability that there's going to be a no contact order between you and that's something that I'm also going to have to reiterate to Jennifer that this might be longer than just like a day kind of thing because if there is a criminal. >> So, we can do that for that person. We we we've known her what >> two months. >> You've known her a few months. I first time I met her was this weekend. We can't do that for a person. >> Yeah, we got to figure out we can watch the animals. And >> the 56 year old father and 45year-old mother were charged with child without great bodily harm and held at the Penllis County Jail under Florida statute section 827.03. They could face up to 5 years in prison or probation along with a fine of up to $5,000. The court set bail at $50,000 for the father and $40,000 for the mother. >> I don't have anything here. Okay, check this one. I'll take those out. I'll leave those inside unless you want them in your property. Okay, just go ahead and have a seat in there. Go ahead and buckle you up. That's pretty loose. If you've ever thought parenting was just about raising a child, think again. Don't let the word discipline become an excuse for wrongdoing. Right after the case of parents wrapping their child like a mummy in Florida, another mother in Illinois used 104° heat to build her child's endurance. >> That is completely >> to leave a 9-month-old in a car that is unlocked in this heat. July 7th, 2024, under the scorching blazing sun, Illinois police received a report about a child left alone in a car parked in a packed shopping center lot. They rushed to the scene and what they found was a baby lying silently inside a locked vehicle along with a mother's calm explanation. The baby sleeping and I was only gone for 5 minutes. >> I pulled up. I saw them. I asked if they were all right. They said they were all right. >> Yeah. >> She said she went in for 5 minutes. She can explain if she wants, you know. >> I'm just I told her I was irritated. Why the situation? It took me more time to find my car in this big parking lot than it did to get my food. But >> did she come out? >> She did. >> Okay. >> You guys out here for >> maybe 10 minutes. It wasn't an hour. It wasn't, you know. >> Were the kids like sweating or No, >> he said he was sweating, but she said they were cool. Obviously, >> my shorts. We literally just got off the swimming pool. His clothes are still wet. Like I'm This is for me being outside. Is there a reason you left him in the car and you didn't take him? And there was the baby was sleep and he I was like, "Okay." And then I couldn't find a parking spot closer, so I pulled up over there. But like they both well said, "Y'all want me to take my car?" You know, when we get a call in the vehicle I've worked in rehabilitation centers. I'm a HST. I'm a DSP. I got all that. I know. I get it. But what I'm telling you is is that it was just cold a few minutes ago. It was breezy as hell. And we had just got out the pool. It started raining. So I was not going to bring him in there with me. and knowing that I had to walk around with him. No, I wasn't. So, yes, I did leave my windows down. No, I was not lolly gagging nothing like that. I ordered my food, my food, my phone is dead. Otherwise, I'm going to show y'all I order my food before I even went in. All I had to do is wait in line to pick my food up. It took me longer to find my car. All I kept doing was this cuz this parking lot big as you see my place from North Dakota. I just moved back out. So, I'm not familiar with this mall. I'm not. So, yes, I'm I'm sorry, but no. Like, I've been nothing. I'm still >> How long do you think you were gone for? >> It wasn't long at all. I don't know. I just know it wasn't long at all. 10, 15, 20 minutes. >> I know. 10, 15, 20 minutes. No, none of that. But I mean, hey, I mean, as y'all can tell, he's not You feel me? >> He looks a little funny, but I don't know if it's I mean, it's the window. >> Yeah. You got to understand, you can't just be leaving your kids unattended like that. I understand you want to go in there and grab your food. >> No, their food, >> right? Their food. >> Yeah. But okay. >> Especially in this hot weather, you know, >> it was that's what I'm saying. But it was just windy and it was just raining. Like, what? That's why we got out of the pool. That's why I left him in there because he still has wet clothes. My son literally was just like, "Mom, can we go to calm down?" He just came from the pool and I was like, it's might might as well be right over here. We have to go home after this. We live out here in I would never just sit there my baby. They all I have. >> Yep. >> What's the 563? Whatever. >> She was so a heated argument broke out. One side warning of the danger, the other insisting, I just went in to grab food for my kid. But her credibility quickly crumbled as she contradicted herself with every word she said. >> Do you mind if I touch your son? >> I mean, you see how hot it is. The car not on like damn piece of muscle. Can Can you touch him? Go ahead. >> Like what the This is why I'm saying this one car going to do all this and this this is why I was frustrated because this the opportunity mother take to do [ __ ] by snatching or trying to snatch kids. >> Just paint it for me. We're trying to figure out how long your kids were in the car by themselves. That's going to determine what we're going to do the next step. >> Okay. Yeah, that's fine. I mean, this mall big as [ __ ] I was on one side of the other. It took me longer to get to the car than it did ever to get to. >> Um, when I go to the camera, >> so it took you a while to find where you were going in there. >> What you mean? Like to get >> You said it's so big. It like took you a while to figure out where it's confusing as hell. I'm steady walking past it. It's walking circles around it. >> It's right there by the front of the mall. That's why I had to ask the guy. I stopped asking him. I literally went in there. My phone died. I had to put my phone on the charger. It literally came on cuz they got the fast charger after not even a whole minute. Paid for my food. Then I came back out here with steady doing this. I wasn't nowhere near my car cuz it didn't go off. Then I see her trunk and I'm like, I'm gonna go ask her to come help me find my car. Next thing you know, she's telling me that they done called y'all to come get my kids. >> So, I do have access to the cameras. >> They do or don't. >> I can see if you do have access. >> Yeah, if you could. So, we going to be out here for a while. >> I ain't got no AC. >> Christian bathroom over there. >> I don't even know which right there in front of me. >> The bathroom over by the >> I can see if something was wrong with my kids. >> Well, here's here's the issue. Y'all got to remember I'm out here by myself from North Dakota. I have nobody by yourself with your brother. >> Like damn, y'all better understand. Okay. Like I went to get some food. I didn't go in there. I didn't go shopping. I didn't do none of that. >> Like he was sleep. I was trying to be a decent mother and let him sleep and stay in his car seat. We just came from swimming. >> She said you want to come back or >> I ain't never left my baby. I ain't never sat there and just disowned my kids. I take >> We're not We're not saying you disown them. We're just saying that you abandoned them for a while and then came back. You left them. How old is he? >> I'm not going to argue with him. >> He's probably two. No, he's eight. He's nine more. He'll be 9 months from the 13th. >> Oh, even worse then >> when he's sleeping in a car when it was just raining. We just came out. >> Listen to me. You see what I'm saying? >> You say you're a mandated reporter, then you should know this inside and out. That is completely >> to leave a 9month-old in a car that is unlocked in this heat and leave him. That is >> It wasn't hot. That's why I kept him in the car. It was literally raining after we got out the heat. >> Now I do. Yes, I get it. And even if it wasn't hot out, you left a 9mon vehicle uns for hundreds of people to walk past. This kid could be in Will County by now. That is totally unacceptable on a mother level. >> Okay. Well, let's just hopefully >> And not only did you just leave one, you left two. These kids cannot fend for themselves. >> So, I don't see why you're thinking this is no big deal. It's a complete big deal with your actions. >> Oh, she only lost track of the car because the parking lot was too big. Not because she was being irresponsible. >> I'm just frustrated because right now this is they're all I got. It's not acceptable. Okay, I get that. It wasn't on purpose to sit here and act like I was just completely my kids. I left him in here with good intention. I was trying to make sure he didn't get sick. Okay, we just got out the pool. You see, I'm still I'm still So, yes, I did try to leave my kid and make sure that I took care of him. If that'sful cuz I left him in there and the car and it got high and people Okay, I get it. But y'all sitting here basically trying to It's making me feel like y'all trying to take my kids. I don't have shelves but them. Yes, if I'm wrong, we're going to get food. Okay, I'm adult enough to sit there and take >> and without even knowing the exact time frame that they're going to see on the cameras. Just the statement from you that you're walking around the mall trying to find it and then the fact that you don't even know where the car is that you admitted you couldn't even find your car through a door cuz I walked. >> You said you were walking around in the parking lot. You left these kids in a parking lot >> for x amount of time while you're toodling around the mall and then you can't even come back and find them, >> right? >> Do you see where the issue is with that? >> Right. Well, it didn't take me long, but okay. But if y'all don't like if that's what y'all going to do, I need to call my mom because at this point it's given that y'all trying to snatch my kids and that's not I'm really I'm really not okay with that at all. One thing just an innocent actor trying to grab my kids some food and leaving my baby in the car. I am soing sorry. I've seen people leave their kids in here with windows rolled up all type of damn near toing die. I left the windows down and everything. I'm only 23 years old. Give me a break. Damn. I'm trying to do all this on my own. I'm sorry that I up. I'm sorry, but does that mean y'all can come around and just snatch my kids saying that I just don't take it? >> We're required to take the next question. Since you're a mandated reporter, you know how that works, correct? >> I don't need y'all taking that and just throwing it at me. I'm emotional right now. I'm not trying to be a [ __ ] I'm not trying to be nothing. This is not what I'm telling y'all is that this is hurtful right now because I did not expect it to go from trying to get food to this. That's what I'm telling you. So, yes, I'm taking a downfall as a mother. It hurts my heart because this is my fault. That's what it seeming like. I up. Yes, my feelings are hurt. Yes, I'm emotional. Yes. Yes. This is all I have. My whole family is 9 and 1/2 hours away. I have to do. >> I'm not saying that I don't. I'm just telling you where I'm coming from. >> But you're saying we're trying to snatch your We're not trying to snatch your face, but we're going to do the next steps that we're required to do it. >> I'm going just calm down and just let y'all do your job cuz I'm just mad and I just I'm not trying to let this go overflow on y'all, but that I've seen this happen and I never thought I'd be the person to deal with it again. Yes, I get it. It seems this mother also started to realize leaving a child alone in a locked car under blazing heat could lead to suffocation, heat stroke, or worse. The child could become an easy target for kidnappers with no one around to watch. >> And I understand that your kids, but you can't just leave your kids unattended on a hot vehicle. Maybe to you it wasn't hot, but leaving them for 5 to 10 minutes that is >> them in. You see what I'm saying? Like it was y were you not outside when it was raining a couple minutes ago? That's why we left the pool and got in the car and came over here. >> You can't just leave your kids unattended, though. That's That's our point. >> I don't get what you're saying. I'm not arguing with you. That's what I'm trying to tell you. What are we going to do from here now? I just need to know. Like, come on. >> They're they're trying to get a time stamp as how long your kids were in the car because they're saying 10 minutes. >> Right now, y'all like can't call my mom right now. I don't have nobody. Y'all don't understand that. It's just me and my kids. >> Okay. So, do y'all know how far Kong Dog is? It's literally that. >> So, you're saying I'm just going to clarify some questions with you. Okay. You said it was about 10 minutes. >> Ma'am, I'm not going to sit here and lie to you cuz I really honestly >> we just need I listen to me. I have to do a police report regardless. Right. >> I understand that. >> I'm not trying to stop y'all from nothing. >> I need to ask you some questions and you just have to give me approximate what you think. >> Approximately like 10 minutes. That dog is literally right in there. You take a left and you go like three, four stores down and he can even vouch for me. >> But I just want to clarify that. But you said you were walking circles around it and you couldn't find it. I kept walking past it like the entrance right there just cuz I thought it was about >> That's why I'm just not believing 10 minutes. 10 minutes I would believe you if you went straight there and back. But if you said you were lost in there and walking circles and pass it. One second. Let me finish. You're walking circles in there, walking back and forth past it and then you come out here and you couldn't find your vehicle either and then you're walking around and then you see the security and then it just happens the security is out with your vehicle and your children. That that's all got to be longer than 10 minutes. I'm not saying it's an hour but it's more than 10 minutes. >> That door I walked in specifically my GPS map before my phone died. said that it was on level one. So, I walked by the fountain. The fountain is like down. All you got to do is take a straight shot. It wasn't down there. I walked back. Then I asked the lady, the dots lady in the middle of the mall. She's selling ice cream. I asked her. I said, "Ma'am, can you please tell me where Kong Dog is?" I went to Kong Dog, picked up my food. 5:40, order number 540, got my stuff, left, came out here, made sure I walked back from that way all the way through the same door cuz I had my trademark. Walked out this door. I was doing like this, walking out. I couldn't hear my car. I seen her. I wasn't trying to waste no time. I instantly came right over to her. Boom. She's at my car. My car didn't sound off, but I walked out the same door. So, you feel me? Like, it didn't take like this park's my biggest [ __ ] So, yes. Automatically, as soon as I came out here, I did this. I did not remember exactly spot on where my vehicle was. Yes. But for me to just be walking around, you feel me? Like, >> and then do you understand that it's hot for your to be okay. You understand that? >> It was like this when I That's what I'm going to tell y'all. Literally, like, >> do you understand that it's no matter how long you left your kids for, you understand that in my head? I don't even understand how. I would never I won't even use the word at this point cuz this is just like this traumatizing I even have to deal with this like thank god my kids is okay. Thank god I wasn't gone and one of the moms had left the windows open etc etc but >> because what would have happened if your kids would have gotten snatched or something right because the windows are >> it would all be my fault and that too many things you cannot leave your kids unattended no matter how long it I understand that the baby was sleeping and you just wanted to run in there quick but you can't be doing that. >> I won't do it ever ever ever. And then when the law stepped in, she was forced to face the consequences. The young mother was charged with child class A misdemeanor. Under Illinois law, the maximum penalty is up to one year in jail, a $2,500 fine, and bail set at the same amount. However, as this was her first defense, she was issued a citation instead of being taken into custody. >> We're all clear and you're not wondering anything. You're technically getting arrested, but we're releasing you on scene. It's a class A misdemeanor for endangering the life and health of a child and leaving children under the age of 14 unattended. We could, if we wanted to push the issue as far as we could, we could take you in and then bring the children in too and then have to turn them over to DCFS. We don't see that fit for this situation. We see it as one bad mistake and this is a learning lesson to move forward. So, we're going to give you a piece of paper. It's the same as if you were arrested and brought in. >> And then you have a court date and you can go to court and testify as to why you believe >> there's no that's fine. Okay. Yeah. I'd rather just take that than go to jail. Okay, whatever. >> We're going to fill some paperwork out. >> No bodily harm. Whatever. What the >> There's no bodily harm. It's just injuring the life and health of a child. And one of that aspect, one of those aspects is leaving children under 14 mindblowing that this could all happen in a couple minutes for me just going to try to get some food. >> You leave a 9month-old and a six-year-old. >> I work with dogs. I work with crackheads. I work with felons. I work with all that. I work with everything. I wasn't trying to have my child get sick. I don't think you understand that. But I get it. I get it. And then I just don't want you to be surprised either. As you know, as a mandated reporter, we will have to report this to DCF. >> So, they might come to your house. They might give you a phone call. Unfortunately, that's the result of the situation we're >> My stupidity. >> So, since we're not going to take you in, we're going to release you on scene. Okay? So, you got to go to court um next month on the 5th at 9:00 a.m. Okay? >> Also, because I'm not taking you in, you got to go in for your uh your fingerprint before the 23rd of next month or this month, I'm sorry. Okay? And it's only Sundays and Tuesdays at that hour. Okay. Can I take your picture >> right now? >> Because I'm not taking you into booking. We got to take a picture of you. Okay. >> Yeah. Let me just >> After reviewing the camera, police found the mother had been gone for nearly 30 minutes. So, what do you think? Does such a light penalty truly seem justified? The story seemed to hit rock bottom, but it didn't. Still in Illinois, there's an Olivia, a woman who turned domestic violence into a blame game against the whole world. >> You call my little daughter a [ __ ] That's not acceptable in any parent term. >> April 20th, 2024, police in Berwin, Illinois, received a report of a woman attacking a family member and more disturbingly showing signs of child. They rushed to the scene and confronted the mother, Olivia. But her panic, evasive answers, and refusal to cooperate only raised more red flags. >> She's right here. >> What's going on with you? >> Nothing. Ma'am, I'm trying to talk to you. >> I know. What do you What is it that you need? >> Okay. Your mom called us. >> I don't know why she kicked me out the car. >> What happened before we got here? >> Uh, nothing. She was harassing me. Call my little daughter a little [ __ ] And I got out the car cuz I cannot stand still. >> Can you Can you stand still? >> Yeah. I mean, I have a a kid with me. How would I stand still? What the >> What happened? >> Nothing. >> Why would you call 911? >> I'm going to put her sweater on. Do you mind >> trying to talk to you? >> What is it that you need? >> You're obviously not. >> You're telling your own raising your voice and I'm not raising my voice unless you are. It's not funny talk about little and I need to leave the car because I don't stand talking. You my daughter does not need to be talked like that. There's nothing other than water and bottle in here. >> Hold up. >> I don't need to hold up cuz I'm not arrested. >> No, no, no. You don't know that cuz you also She also said Okay, stop. She also said what? Something that you already do not grab me when I have my daughter in my hand. >> Well, then don't walk away. >> I'm not. Don't touch me. Don't touch me. And you have a camera on you. Yes, I do. >> Don't touch me. >> Don't try walking away. >> I am not. I'm talking to you. >> Before we lock you up and take your daughter away, you need to take my daughter away. >> Just stop. Listen. Where did this >> Wow, that's amazing. >> Where did this all stem from? >> After repeated efforts by police, Olivia finally agreed to cooperate. But instead of explaining, she just complained. Everyone is just picking on me, casting herself as a victim of both society and her own family. In total contrast to the original allegations. >> Where did it start today? What happened? >> And we were at Enchanted Castle and she never wants to spend money on us. And >> so you were at Enchanted Castle. What What happened from there? What What happened from there? >> She called my little daughter a [ __ ] That's not acceptable in any parent term. >> She's saying you punched your brother or whoever's in the front. >> Nobody. >> Okay. I didn't touch anybody. She wants to take my daughter because she's white. She just wants her. And I just wanted to be left alone. So, I left the car and I have my Uber picking me up right now. That's not even fair. She just wants me to fail in life. It's not fair. >> Are you in a state to take care of your your daughter? >> Yes. I got her bottle and everything. Officer, please. Please. >> Have you had any alcoholic beverage today? Are you? >> No. You can check it right now. Check it, please. >> Where are you going to Where are you going to go, though? Where >> I have the Uber setting me up right now. And like I said, I'm just tired of everyone just picking on me. How could you please? I don't even know your name. Please. I'm so sorry. Trying to take my daughter. >> What's your first name? >> Olivia. And I just >> Do you have a middle initial? >> No. This is the last time they tried to take my daughter from me. I can't believe she said that. I was just leaving in peace. I don't know why she's always trying to take my kids. >> What's your address? >> I don't have one. >> Are you homeless? >> Yes. That's why. That's why they're trying to take care. Please tell me to take her. >> All right. Hold on. >> Oh, please >> stay right here. >> Do you have anybody else that can come? >> I have my girlfriend coming to come whether they're mad because I'm gay as well. Yes. Yes. I can just hang out. Okay. >> A mysterious figure suddenly appeared and they're only strengthened the allegations. >> You're going to take the baby away if you don't come and get. She's like drunk out of her mind. She walked in front of a car with a in front of a car. So, a car could run her own. >> She's nuts. You got to take the baby before the state takes the baby away from. So, she's going to get arrested right now. >> With no way to deny it, Olivia grabbed her child and ran onto the tracks when police let their guard down. Amid the struggle and the crying, she still played the victim. You're scaring my child, >> man. Stop. >> Get the get No. >> Oh my god. >> Why are you doing my camera? >> You are not. >> Because you're telling me. Because you're telling me. >> Put your hands behind your back. >> You hitting me. Look at you hitting me with my daughter. >> Your hands. >> Put your hands behind your back. Put them behind your back. >> And what happened? You scared my daughter. No cycle under a train track with a kid. >> Run down train and my phone fell. My phone fell. You id. It fell on the >> Now you're under arrest. >> Tell me don't say anything. >> It's okay. My daughter. >> Even at the station, she clung to her role. I'll sue. I was wrongfully arrested as if she were the victim. >> I'm not wrong, you guys. I I can't not not have >> it now. >> Uh 1 and later walk for no reason. >> What's your name? Okay. What's your first name? What's your name, young lady? >> Olivia Agelar. I'm very sure they should have told you that before I came in here. >> First of all, don't tell >> I'm not. >> Nobody's told me anything about you yet. Okay. >> Now, I'm sure myself. >> What's your current address? >> Don't have one. I have >> What is your last home address? >> I have I actually have a gun on on my phone so you can see that I have not one. >> What is your name? >> I just told you my name. Olivia Aguar. How is that my name? Patricia, >> good enough. >> Great. I'm glad to have this conversation. >> You can be going home in about 20 minutes. >> I am going home in 20 minutes. This is ridiculous. You're asking me questions that you know. I am waiting for a lawsuit. I am so waiting for that. So waiting for it. >> You can get in line with that. >> Good. Then I will. >> The mother was arrested on serious crime charges including disorderly conduct, fleeing from an officer, obstructing justice, domestic assault of a minor, and multiple counts of child. Under current Illinois law, these offenses could carry a maximum prison sentence of 10 to 15 years along with fines of up to $50,000. Instead of blaming the world, Olivia should get a job, quit drinking, and rebuild her life. Because if she doesn't change, what she loses won't just be custody, but the last shred of humanity left in a mother. We've just witnessed two peak blame games in Illinois. Now, let's head to Florida where a child was not for misbehaving, but because the eggs didn't suit mom's boyfriend's taste. >> I was making eggs for her friend and then I went to go and hand it to him and she and then she was like, "You." >> On March 11th, 2024, Florida police received a shocking call about a domestic violence case. A mother punished her daughter for not cooking breakfast the way she wanted, leading to a 7-year-old needing intervention. Police quickly arrived at the scene to investigate the brutal assault where a multi-purpose weapons including hands, feet, fists, and a broom had been used. >> So, I talked to the girls and then Jacob talked to the mom. So, to give you the lowdown, so the oldest girl is I think she's 13, 12, 13. I did not go a sworn with her yet, but basically she said her mom told her to make eggs for her friend Rosco, who's not here. He apparently left during this, but he lives nearby. Anyway, uh she was making the eggs for the friend. Daughter says mom told her to put sour cream in it or whatever. She didn't do it right. Mom got mad at her. She said she was probably mad cuz the attitude she gave her gave her as she left the room. But anyway, apparently mom got mad. She says mom started hitting her with her hands, her feet, and her fist. Continued. The little sister got involved. Tried to pull mom off. The sister grabbed her by the hair and stuff. I will tell you the 12-year-old has a very good bite mark right here that broke the skin. their skin missing. I've already photographed that with a scale. He also has a bloody lip. She says that continued. Says mom tried to hit her with a broom multiple times. They've had prior issues, but uh she says Leo and DCF have not been called before. And the younger daughter, she knows that a thing occurred that they were fighting and she tried to pull her off. So I don't know about the younger one's seven. I don't know about her statement. >> Yeah. >> Uh being start >> she was on her sister's bed. So I'm not sure. The the one sister said she I don't you know she said mom threw her iPods away when she was mad and said she went to call her dad, mom broke the phone, but neither here nor there. She wasn't calling 911 or anything like that at the time. >> She didn't get into the whole like what started it. She said daughter was being disrespectful. So she told her like you're not going to talk to me that way. Took her phone from her and she turned around to walk away. Daughter kicked her in the back and so she told her friend, "Hey, you can go. You don't need to be here for this. I'm just going to discipline her and take care of this." And that's when she said daughter went eight, started screaming, carrying on, making a bunch of scene out of it. She does have blood on her left hand. And I was like, "What is that from?" She goes, "Oh, that's from my daughter." >> Where's the witness? He was talking to two guys when I walked up and I didn't make it over there yet. >> The next door neighbors in the blue house talked as well. They said they had heard them going for like 30 minutes inside the house. They never saw anything, but said they could hear them like fighting inside the house for about 30 minutes before they showed up. Key witnesses, the neighbors, began recounting what happened during the 30 minutes before the police arrived. Did >> you folks happen to see all this? >> No, but I heard it just standing. Me and my father were standing outside just talking and we heard a bunch of commotion and hitting against the walls and we was like, "Somebody got to break that window." No, that was just right now. >> Yeah. Well, we heard them >> and we could hear the yelling. I did hear the baby yell. Somebody called 911. But I have a 16year-old daughter. I know how, you know, it can be and they can get. So, but then when the door open, the little baby ran out the door. and I went and grabbed her and then shortly after that's when everybody else came out. But we we could hear the commotion. I did hear the older daughter saying, "Someone help and someone please call the police." The other neighbor heard the same thing. So that was when he called the police. I walked down and asked him, "Are you calling the police?" He said, "Yeah." And we basically just kind of kept the kids over here until the police arrived. >> Yes. Just because the fried eggs lacked sour cream for the boyfriend. A family fight broke out. The victim, a 13-year-old girl, could only choke back tears and repeat. She hit me like a cry of injustice after 30 minutes of brutal beating. >> I'm Officer Bryant. >> How are you? >> You okay? You can you can take your time. >> Got you, Brian. As soon as we're done with all this, your stepmom's just pulling up and we're going to get over to you. That way you're you're not by yourself. You swear affirm the statement that you're about to give will be the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. >> What happened there? >> I was making coffee for one of her friends. I was making eggs for her friends. And then I went to go hand it to him and she and then she was like, "You." And then I went to go I went crying to her bedroom. She came in there ripping my AirPods out and was like, "I'm going to beat you. I'm going to beat you." And then I she told me to give her my phone. So, and I refused to give her my phone cuz she don't pay for it. And after that, I went to my bed and I sat in there and then she came in there and came went on top of me. And so, first it happened in that back room right there as you could see the window. She got on top of me and started beating me. I went to my room finally and then came to my bedroom and started beating me even more. After all that beating, I went to the living room, kicked her cuz self-defense. It broke off again in there. And then I went to my bedroom, sat down. She was just keep beating me and then grabbed a brew and was beating me with the brew. And then I was keep trying to go outside. I was like, "Let me out. Let me out. Let me out. I want to go out." And then after 5 minutes, I finally got her. She started running outside to here. And then I went outside and then I was like, "Gosh, someone please someone call back." She was keep going up to me like, "Get your back inside. You're going to have more costic sit on the police department." She said she feels nice and comfortable with you. So if you and officer Baker here, don't mind hanging tight. We're going to have to have them sit tight here with us for just a minute here. We're going to go >> check right now. So they should be here probably. So >> we got nothing but time. We just want to make sure. So, if you want to hang tight with them and uh Officer Baker here, we'll we'll give you updates soon when we have one. Correct. >> Okay. >> Then, Florida statute 117.10 and Miranda rights rang out like a wakeup call. Yet, the abusive mother still saw herself as the victim, claiming she was kicked by her daughter, not as someone about to be handcuffed. >> Yeah, no worries. We're also recording. And if you want >> We all are on the same page. Absolutely. If you end up wanting any of our body cam footage, super public records on a daily basis. >> Easy. Just wanted to make sure you were clear on it. So, you live here, correct? Yes. >> And then the two girls we have in the car are both your daughters. >> Those are both my daughters. >> All right. Is anybody else stay here in the house? >> Just me and my daughter. >> Is anybody else here at the time that this whole thing went down? >> When she first was disrespectful, yes. She kicked me, that person left and wants nothing to do with it. And I can't force anybody to come back just like I can't force that child to not scream and carry on and get me and carry on. >> Absolutely. Uh, so what I am going to do is request a swarm statement from you. You willing to provide one about what happened? Oh, I mean, yeah, absolutely. I feel like I've made a statement. Where's Where's Officer Baker? I mean, I made a statement to him already, so I've said everything. >> Well, we just got to get the official one. We're the ones actually working your call. >> His little thing that he was What was he doing? >> So, he's getting initial, but we like to get a sworn one if we can. That way, we're locked in on the truth. >> Four, five, six. How many people are going to ask me the same question? >> Unfortunately, with stuff like this, you're going to get a little bit of repetition of all you wear. It has every statement that I've said on it thus far. I'm the one writing the report. So, I like to make sure that I >> sworn statements are show. So, there are statements on the last on audio recording and video. >> So, I'm the one writing the report. I want to make sure I have the clearest image of what's going on if I'm going to be the one telling the story. So, this is going to be a sworn tape recorded interview taken by a law enforcement officer pursuant to Florida statute 117.10. If you will raise your right hand for me. Do you swear or affirm the statement you're about to give? Be the truth, the whole truth, nothing but the truth. >> Absolutely. >> Fantastic. Uh before we get into it, just cuz I feel like a reasonable person probably wouldn't feel like they're free to go even though you're standing at the door of your house. I'm just going to read off your Miranda warning. So I'm sure that you've heard them. They don't mean that you're under arrest, but because we're asking you what could be incriminating questions and I don't feel like you feel like you're free to go, I want to make sure you know them. Okay. >> I already asked. >> You have the following rights under the United States Constitution. You do not have to make a statement or say anything. Anything you say can be used against you in court. Those rights in mind, are you still willing to talk to me? >> Now I'd like you to present if you want to. >> Totally fair. So what we are going to do at this point is if you would please stand behind your back. I am under wrestling. I'm setting all my stuff down. I am but you are manif. >> We will deal with that in just a moment. Anything out of the house you want? Come with my wallet. >> Your wallet? Where's it at? >> Absolutely. Where your shoes at? >> Absolutely. We can make a call. >> Not right this second now. Make a call from the jail. >> Oh, I'll jump off. hurt yourself. >> I'll hurt myself if I need to. You can't hurt me enough today. Thank you. >> Once again, you get to do what you want. >> Congratulations. You are hurting me very hard cuz you're trying to yank. >> I haven't yanked. >> That's why I told you to slow down. I've been super calm. >> I just have a seat for >> What the children said next was even more heartbreaking. It's painful to know they had lived so long with a cruel mother who caused mental trauma and put her own kids' lives at risk. >> I just wanted to kind of keep you guys in the loop. We got fire checking out uh the kids mom's going to jail based on our investigation. I can't get too in depth with it just because technically it's still active, but I wanted to thank you guys for taking care of the kids and for calling and and for speaking with us. It does mean a lot because those kids need it. >> They did. It seems like they did. >> Yeah, absolutely. I just wanted to give my heartfelt thanks. >> Thank you guys. >> All right. want to ask her. He needs some questions. >> Yeah, absolutely. >> Has your mother ever threatened to kill you or use a weapon against you? >> Yes. >> Yes. >> Mhm. >> All right. Could you explain that for me? >> Um, it was a couple months back she threatened to kill all of us in the house if I ever scream in this house ever again. >> She threatened >> all of us. >> Okay. If you ever screamed at her again. >> Mhm. It screamed in the house. >> Screamed in the house. Okay. >> And I don't know if she said out of anger or >> Has your mom ever strangled or choked you? >> I don't know if this is how I was choking, but like getting on top of me and covering my mouth. >> Getting on top of you and covering your mouth. And could you go into detail on that too? >> Like she goes like hands whole body forced on me. >> Does your mom have access to any firearms or any weapons? >> Yes, there's in the house. >> There's in the house. I don't know where, but there's knives in the house. >> You don't know where? >> Well, I know where her knife is. >> You know where her knife is? >> The knife is on like the I don't know if it's still there if she broke it, but it's on like the orange thing and sitting up on it >> in the living room. >> Mhm. >> Okay. Has your mom ever attempted or threatened to commit suicide? >> Yes. >> She threatened commitment. >> When was this? Was this recent? >> When my Pepe died. The mother was arrested on charges of domestic violence and child. Under Florida law, she could face up to 30 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000 with bail typically ranging from $50,000 to $100,000. However, due to signs of being dangerous, unreorseful, and a threat to others, the court may increase the bail or deny it altogether. >> Mom is being placed under arrest for battery and for child abuse. There's a chance we have some more charges coming down the line after we review a couple of the details. But she's already in cuffs. It's going to be headed up to jail. We don't personally do that. It'll be something that the the court can decide if they want to mandate. Um that being said, you have your ID on you. Can't release the children unfortunately until we till we run you. Make sure you're not a quantity or something. As soon as you come back free and clear and we get your phone number taken down, we're going to release the kids to you and send you on your way. Do you have any questions? >> You guys have a card or anything? Yeah, >> I'm going to grab you some paperwork here in just a second. >> And if we can get the case number, the reference and then everything start finishes all been on body cam as well. That case number we give you, you'll be able to get all of our body cam so you can see everything start. >> Yeah. And I just wanted to touch base and let you know neither one of you are in any kind of trouble. More than anything, we have been worried about Thankfully, good neighbor, they called us, other neighbors are calling us. I just want you guys to get out of any trouble.
