Ryan, >> hold on a minute. Turn around. Face away from me. >> I said, "Where where's mom?" And he said, "Sh, >> she's really sniffy towards me always." >> These children grow up in emotionally unstable family environments and have to face negative behavior from their parents. >> I didn't like wham her. I just her. That was it. >> So, what happened to mommy's? So where is the real line between healthy discipline and going too far between guidance and controlling behavior in the parent child relationship? When police showed up at her workplace, the mother had no idea that an action she saw as teaching her child could change her life. >> Ladies say please. You have any idea why I would be here? I'm sure about what's going >> Would you care to tell me what what's going on >> or what happened? >> We we were just arguing. Got into a verbal argument. She's up in my face screaming at me. If you this, if you that, you're not going to tell me what the f I can do and what I can't do. She's mad cuz I told her she couldn't go to her boyfriend's house anymore because when she went, she never came home. Came home 5:30 in the morning and then tries to tell me that she did nothing wrong. She just fell asleep and over it. No, ma'am, we're not going to act like this. You're not going to do that. You don't talk to me like that. She gets in my face, refuses to go back to her room, put her hand up like this, like she's going, "Go to your room." Continues to get my face even more. Like her nose is touching mine and screaming, "Fuck you. You're not going to tell me what the [ __ ] to do." So I her in the mouth. I sure did. My kids not going to talk to me like that. >> On August 11th, 2024, police responded to a report of a family dispute involving a mother and her 17-year-old daughter. They first went to the mother's workplace to clarify the situation, then returned home to take the daughter's statement. What began as a family conflict escalated into a case requiring legal intervention. >> Was already upset at me because I had been involved with friends all day. She claimed that I didn't tell her any of the plans, which I did, but that's beside the point. So, she was already in a bad mood. And then, um, my friends both left the house that night. And then she asked me to go find her a wireless charger. She wanted me to go downstairs and get the one for my grandmother. And I told her, "Hang on, let me check my room." I did have one once upon a time. I told her if I didn't already give it to you, then I'll just go downstairs or I'll grab it and then if not, I'll go upstairs to get the other one. So, I went in there and sorry, I just walked all the way across the room. >> Anyway, went there and looked I didn't have it anymore. So, I told her I was like, "Okay, yeah, you're right. I don't have it anymore. I'm going to go downstairs and get the other one." Went downstairs and got it and then came back upstairs and she started arguing with me, saying I never gave her another one to begin with. And I told her, I was like, "It wasn't anything recent. Like, I've had that thing for years. Not a big Anyway, she started arguing with me and I was like, "I'm not doing this. I'm going to bed." I shut the door and I I shut the door and I walked out. And then she accused me of slamming the door, followed me to the kitchen, continued screaming at me, getting in my face, asked her to back up. And then um that's when she started getting a little more violent, which doesn't normally happen. She started pushing at me and then she my glasses, which I'm pretty sure is what caused that. It was in my glasses. And then she did end up putting me in the mouth at one point, which caused my braces to stick right here on my mouth. And then um continued screaming some more. My grandma came upstairs and then she just completely backed off and went to her room and I went to my room and that was the last of it. >> So when you say she became more like what what do you mean by that? >> The and the >> and when she hit you, how how did she hit you? >> I think it was an open hand. I think it was meant to be a but I also wasn't looking at her hand. I was looking at her face. >> I apologize. I was looking at her face or her hands. So I don't know for sure. >> So you you know about how many times she hit you? I know it was at least two, but it wasn't I know for a fact it was not more than three times, but like I said, >> so two two to three times. Obvious this here. You said there was a place in your mouth. Was there any other >> No, this is mostly filled up now. You couldn't see it to begin with. >> Yeah. So, was this I hate to say normal, but I mean, is this a regular occurrence or because whoever called, like I say, was that's post trying to come in. The daughter shared that long-standing tensions in their multigenerational home led to repeated conflicts. >> Was concerned about your safety and said that this is a kind of something that reoccurs and so our dispatch was trying to look at calls for service and that you know they have had calls complaints about that in the past. >> Yeah, most there was only I think one complaint in the past and that one wasn't on her. That was my stepdad, which he's gone now. But um she's never gotten viol like that before. Her not her getting little erotic and screaming that erotic is that the word? I don't think so. >> Eerratic. Erotic. >> Era. Yeah. Her screaming that that is more normal. But as far as actually No. >> So, and I'm just trying to figure out what her mind frame would have been. Like to your knowledge when this occurred, would she have been intoxicated or on anything? I know for a fact there was no alcohol in the house aside from my grandpa's beer. She does not drink beer. And as far as any kind of other substances, I don't know. I try to mostly stay away from her anyway. So >> why why was that if you don't mind me asking? >> She's really snippy towards me. Always. We have a few good moments a month and then other than that, it's just always a bad attitude or string at me for something. So I just stay away from her. >> It's my understanding you live in the same house as your grandparents. So who who all lives in the house? Um, it's me and my mom, a 12-year-old little sister, 8-year-old little sister, and then my grandma, which is her mom, and then her stepdad. >> So, a step grandfather. >> Yes. >> Okay. All right. I'm checking out. That's all right. My My wheels were turning. They're slow sometimes. >> Um, who who all was at the house when this happened? >> Me, her, and then both my grandparents. My little sisters were with her aunt. >> Both little sisters were not there. >> No. >> Okay. Did Did anybody else see it? Just maybe grandma heard it and kind of come and she >> put a stop to it. >> Okay. >> Cuz she was already mostly awake anyway cuz I had to go downstairs and get that charger. >> Okay. And do you remember the social worker's name again? I'm sorry. >> Michelle, I think. >> Okay. >> I think that's what she said on the phone. I'm not positive. >> Did she leave the number that she called? >> I have the number she called the office. >> May I get that? >> Yeah. Um 270. Regardless of who was at fault, officers stated their priority was the safety and well-being of the minor involved. >> And do you have is your mom like you said she just left the house like live 360 or something or how how do you know where she's at? >> Yeah, I have live 360 and we have fine line. >> Do you think she'll be going to work or where? >> She doesn't have a job. I really don't know where she's going to be honest. It says she's at Family No right now. That's all right. So, you seem to me, you're you're 17, right? You seem to be very intelligent. You seem to to have it together and be very mature. Okay? So, I'm not one to really like beat around the bush or I mean, like, you seem super intelligent for your age. So, I'm just going to be honest with you, okay? And and I hope you know that it's not okay for a parent or anyone to to like that. >> I know. Okay. So, that being said, sometimes this could put you in a bad situation. Okay. But by law, there are actions that I have to take because at the end of the day, your safety is more important to me than my own life. So, I'm going to do whatever I can do to keep you safe and to keep your two little sisters safe. Okay. >> The mother said the issue started when her daughter repeatedly yelled and challenged her, causing her to lose her temper. >> How many times? >> Just once. Open hand, close hand. >> Open hand. I just her the mouth said, "No, stop. I already told you about your mouth. You're not gonna talk to me like that." And then she's literally in her room. My mom comes upstairs and she's in her room screaming at her, throwing it around like I'm killing her, screaming, "Don't touch me. Get away from me." And I'm nowhere near her. I'm in my bedroom. She's in her bedroom. And my mom is standing in the middle in the living room going and she her. You need to calm down and chill out. Like she was out of control. >> Well, did you notify the police or anything when it happened? No, I didn't. >> Who who else? Was there anybody in the room when it happened? >> No. No. My mom didn't come upstairs until after she finally went to her room. >> Okay. And I guess is this your your mom out here? >> Mhm. >> Okay. Well, I'm I'm going to sit up and talk to her real quick. But while I'm waiting, you have your identification, but you have >> It's in my car. >> Okay. That's all right. >> I mean, I know my driver's license number. Do you want to >> Wait, listen. I I'll get in just a minute. I'm going to go over here talk to her and see what she said. She said her one time. That was it. >> Just one time in the mouth. I told her, "Stop. You're not going to cuss to me like that. You're not going to talk to me like that. I'm going to act like she was body bumping me, like chest bumping me, trying to fight and I kept telling her, "I'm going to fight with you like that." Like, I'm your mom. >> How'd she get the big sw on her? >> She has glasses on. She would put her arm up like that and she I didn't go anywhere near her eye, but she was crying about her glasses. You're going to break my glasses is what she said. I didn't even touch her. I didn't go anywhere near her eye. I mouth just like that. >> Okay. So, so your mom come up there after it was over with, right? >> Well, I mean screaming like I wasing her, screaming, "Don't touch me. Get away from me." And I wasn't even near her with the bedroom door shut and I was in my room across the house. >> Okay. All right. Well, hang just a second. I'm going to go talk to her real quick. Is that okay? >> Yeah. >> Police also spoke with the grandmother, but she did not directly witness the situation. >> Ma'am, what what's your name? >> Kathy Cameron. >> Cameron. Kathy Camel. >> Cameron. Okay. So, what what happened the other day? I guess two days ago when your daughter and your granddaughter got into it. >> Oh, yeah. I don't know. I heard them, but I don't know what happened. >> Okay. You You didn't say anything? >> I didn't see any I didn't witness anything. >> What What did you hear? >> Both of them yelling at each other. >> Did it sound like any any one of them started it or I mean, could you tell? >> I couldn't really tell. I heard first at the top of her lot, but I couldn't. Yeah. But I could not understand what she was saying cuz we live downstairs. Okay. >> And they live upstairs. So I couldn't it wasn't audible enough for me to understand what she was saying. >> Do you have your just so I can jump down the spoke with you? >> Did you see the the in her mouth and the her granddaughters? >> No, I didn't. Put your phone on her, man. Thank you so much. >> The mother mentioned a past incident involving her daughter which had increased emotional strain in the family. >> Thank you so much. >> You're welcome. >> I don't think that would make it a little more serious. cuz I had some into her face and then you hit her in the face. >> I didn't like wham her. I just her. >> That was it. It wasn't a Oh my god, I'm going to knock her clear across the house or whatever. No, it was not that serious at all. >> What was her What? >> Oh, she was in a car last year in November. She was t-boned at 70 mph and it basically split her in half. It crushed her pelvis. She has five screws on it together. pictured her spine on in the bottom in two spots. Um >> accident on road out here >> with three girls. >> Mhm. >> She spent a month in Vanderbilt and I see you. I mean they just crushed her pelvis. They wouldn't let her walk. She wouldn't even want to get up out of bed because of that. She's been babyed and gotten away with all the stuff that she probably normally otherwise wouldn't have. You know, a little bit more leniency is cuz she I mean they brought her back. that he was 3 minutes of blood before they recovered the helicopter. >> However, the mother's explanation did not fully align with some physical indications raised further questions in the investigation. >> So, so you don't hear here's kind of the predicament that I'm in. Okay? I obviously wasn't there and I'm not God. So, I don't I don't know what happened. All I can do is make the best judgment call that I can make. Okay. >> All right. And at the end of the day, people way more smart, smart smarter than I am, make way more money than I am, make make these kind of decisions, right? But at the end of the day, we received a complaint that she had injuries. I went and verified that. Okay? Like I say, I I wouldn't I don't know if she she chest bumped you or or whatever. I went and talked to your mom. She didn't say it. She wasn't there. She was just there for the aftermath. So, I have no witnesses. All I have is a 17-year-old with some things. Let's >> go. You get me to jail? >> Yes, ma'am. That being said, I have no choice whatsoever. The law gives me no choice whatsoever. That's what I'm saying. I have no I I I don't make the final say. I just can make the best judgment call that I can here. You have no injuries that I can see. No complaint. You say she didn't you and she has two two facial injuries. Minor injuries that she did to herself when she put her hand up with her glasses. That's what caused her black eye. Like I say, that that's somebody that's that's got way more education and money than me that makes that decision. Not Not me. Okay. >> While officers said they understood the challenges of raising children in a multigenerational household. The law requires accountability when situations become physically harmful, even if considered mild. >> I was going to get you stand up trying to put hands on your back, please. >> Y just like put your hands on your back. Tell me the kids get off the boat. >> They're off now. >> Going to an aunt's house tonight, right? >> Yes. >> Say what's happening. >> Just don't talk to me, please. >> Ma'am, we're just trying to make sure. >> We're trying to make sure that your kids are safe. >> They are. We'll be there at 5:00 when she gets over to get down. >> I understand. So, best thing you can do when we're trying to help you is stay calm and not lash you out at us. >> I don't think you're helping me, though. You guys are not helping me. >> I'm doing what the law requires me to do. >> What's last name? Is it young or is it somebody else? >> You said that's William's sister. >> Yes. >> Now, do you have any on your person? I'll have to ask. >> No, I don't. >> Cuz I'm going to pat you down the best that I can as being a male, but they're going to check you at the jail. >> I don't have anything. I absolutely nothing on me. >> Can I finish? >> Yeah. Not to say that you would, but if you take anything inside the jail, that's a felony offense. By law, I have to warn you. Oh, I just have to warn you. That's it. >> I literally have nothing. >> Okay, that's fine. Is that okay? >> You want? >> No, that's So, we'll give this to your mom outside. You get everything you measure. >> Yeah, I'll talk to her when she gets out early next week. I won't get out until early next week. >> No, I'll talk to you early next week. >> Oh, I was like, "Oh my god." So, you guys do know that do tonight, which is exactly what she wanted. So, she's going to go to her boyfriend's house all night tonight and probably not come home all day weekend. It's perfect. >> So, so you're blaming me for what happened last night? >> It's perfect. Y'all have no >> us today. >> Okay. information people. Perfect. >> Thank you so much. >> Thank you. >> I don't I didn't try to come through, but you already got all the rest. >> Thank you. >> Ma'am, >> yes. >> Cut the >> I'm I'm just saying this is ridiculous. No, I hope I beat the hell out of her. I literally I mean this is like you running your mouth. You want me to [ __ ] you in the mouth? >> I mean, if I'm up in your face screaming and cussing you saying you I expect it. Yes, sir. >> I don't respect this attitude. >> Okay, take me to jail. >> Yeah. >> Because you would have done the same thing to me, right? You Thank you. >> The mother face child charges with penalties in Kentucky of up to 5 years in prison and a $10,000 fine. In modern society, disciplining children is necessary, but it must come with emotional control and legal awareness. Learning to listen, communicate, and show love helps guide things in the right direction. A mother in Florida faced legal consequences after leaving her children home alone and leaving without notice, later being seen with an unknown individual. >> I said, "Where's where's mom?" And he said, "She >> on February 16th, 2024, police received a call from the stepfather reporting that his stepdaughter and his wife's child were left alone." According to documented reports, the mother had been dealing with personal challenges which made the situation potentially unsafe. After repeated unsuccessful attempts to reach her, the stepfather contacted law enforcement for assistance. >> I was trying to get her into a dual diagnosis program to help with this and the mental illness. >> So, just to clarify, she hasn't made any statements right now. Like tonight, she's just out drinking right now. >> Yeah, she has not made any statements tonight. No. >> Okay. I mean, we're trying to locate her here, but I mean it's a big big uh club as you know. If we find her, we can assess her for a baker, but it sounds like she's going to need something more like a marchman act, like an exparte order through the court. Have you ever heard of that? >> Yeah, I mean, I've I've been a substance abuse mental health professional for a few years. Uh, so I'm familiar. >> Honestly, if she has a issue, it's really not going to fit the criteria for a big substance is is not the issue, right? The issue is that she's bipolar and she has stopped taking her medication ago. >> You got home today. The kids were at the house. Did she tell you she was living in there? >> No. She texted me asking where our son's remote was for his TV at 8:00. I was at work. I run a restaurant. I responded about an hour and a half later saying that I was I didn't know. Normally, I would have been home probably around like 11 or 12. I just happened to be leaving early and I got home at around 10:00. I walked into the house and the baby was crying. I went into the bedroom. Be's son was there trying to console the baby and I said, "Where's mommy?" And he said she I said when did she leave? He said I don't know. I am worried that if she were to come back to our house because she's under the influence that because she's off her medication that she might try and start something domestic. >> Okay. >> You know I I really just want to protect my daughter right now. >> No, I I understand that. >> You want to just take a seat? >> Yes. >> Police arrived at the residence and gathered information from the stepfather and the children. >> So I'm just going to swear you in and then you're going to tell me what happened. Put your hand down. Just tell me what happened tonight. So, I arrived home around 10:00. >> Around 10:00. >> Entered the apartment, heard the baby, and went into the bedroom, saw the baby was in the crib, and my stepson was trying to console her. Thought maybe, you know, my wife was in the bathroom or something. I got her a bottle and I said, "Where's where's mom?" And he said, "She left." And I said, "Are you sure she's not taking the trash out?" He said, "No, she I said, when?" He said, "I don't know." At that point, I looked at my text messages. I mean, I normally would be getting home now. It was just happen stance that I was done early. >> Okay. >> Um, >> everything happened for a reason. >> Yeah. Um, the last contact that I had with her was like maybe quarter after 8. She had texted me asking for our son's remote for his TV. >> That's your stepson, right? >> Yeah. I didn't see the text or anything like >> Yeah. You were busy. >> All of a sudden, you know, was like getting ready to leave and I responded back to see. >> So, that was at That was around like 9:30. Okay. >> Right before I got in the car to head home. Yeah. Like I said, got home, found him. I contacted her sister. Um >> about 2 months ago. She did kind of a similar thing. I had tried to get her into treatment and she amated from detox. Um and then I had lined up. I have a friend the dual diagnosis facility. She had gotten scholarshiped in. They were supposed to come and transport her. It was a Sunday morning >> and she didn't. She got in the car with a and she drove to Virginia. She had like she's sick and >> Yeah. And she was sick also. So she had like >> All right. Just raise your right hand. Is everything you told me the truth? >> Yes. >> Okay. >> At this point, um the mental health thing is like the big issue, right? Like I I talked to another deputy or whatever earlier. They were describing the difference between Margeman and Baker and I I'm I was a mental health professional now. I've been sober for 9ine years and worked in the industry. So >> So you have her location correct? >> I do not. First >> sister. Can I just get her phone number? Not the sister, the your wife. >> Yeah. >> No. Does she usually come home? >> Yeah. I mean, so she she came home February 5th. >> She had been gone, >> but like tonight she would come home. >> She would normally close sneakers and come home probably between 6:00 and 7:00. >> Well, maybe. >> Like the last time that she did that, she came home at 7:00 a.m. and was trying to drive. >> I'm just going to take a picture of her. >> Yeah. >> Hi. >> You're so pretty. There you go. >> They also contacted the biological father of the older child to keep him informed given the seriousness of the situation. >> Hi, this is Deputy Moss at the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office. How are you? Okay. You have a son also seven. Okay. Now, I am being told you got a phone call about him being Okay. Are you at the address >> right now? No, I'm at work. >> All right. So, I'm going to take a sworn statement over the phone cuz obviously you're at work. is just stating what happened that you received a phone call and all that. >> Yeah, her husband, he called me. He stated that he got home from work and he observed that both children were home alone and they were both awake. That's when I, you know, I had him drive my son over to my son's grandmother, too. >> Okay. Now, have you spoken to your parents who have your child now? Did they say he had any injury or was or anything of that nature? >> Well, I did. I spoke to him on the phone. >> Okay. briefly, but he didn't he was acting in his normal self. My mom, she would have told me if he was of any sort. >> Okay, perfect. So, I just wanted to touch base with you because obviously she is going to be arrested. Do you have a good relationship with the father here? If I if you need anything, I could give you my business card or I could send you a picture of it just in case if you need it. I do have to contact DCF in regards to this obviously. So, they might be reaching out to you, but other than that, that's going to be it for right now. All right. You have any questions? >> Did you find her? >> For right now, she's at the bar. I had to obviously speak to the husband and you before I go over there to make contact with her. But she will be arrested. >> I mean, if she's at the bar, the mom as well. >> Yeah. Tonight or tomorrow or some point she's going to be arrested. >> She has a a pattern of this. >> Obviously, you know how it goes with DCF. So, don't be alarmed when they call you. >> The stepfather expressed concern not only about the children being alone, but also about the possibility of the mother returning while in emotional distress, which could increase risk. I am very concerned that she would come back to the house if you guys made contact and for whatever reason the assessment was that oh she's fine. >> So she's going to be arrested. So even if her assessment is she's there's something off mentally, they could deal with that but she's still getting arrested for it. They can't children at all. >> You know his older brother got taken for good. She's already lost custody of him once. >> If she comes back to the house call us. Um, also DCF's going to be notified. Obviously, they're going to call you. Don't be alarmed. It's just I'm sure you've been through this. >> I'm going to try to make contact with her before she gets home. You don't have like a ring camera or anything to show when she exactly >> she took them off. She disconnected everything. >> She won't pick up your chemicals. She usually go to the bar with like friends. >> Yeah. I mean, she has a friend that works there, but like, you know, she came home one night at 7:00 in the morning. She ate a bunch of mushroom. Like another night she came home at like 8:00 in the morning. She's been doing all night. Like I just noticed she zled herself $200 from my account. An account that doesn't have her name. My business card. >> I honestly don't know like whether I should like try and find somebody. I don't >> Do you have family or anything? >> I don't have anybody. >> All right. So I can't tell you that. Obviously she comes home she can >> you know get in cuz it's her residence. Um >> let's put it this way though. She's not going to know nothing's going on if she comes home. If she comes home, that means we didn't find her yet. She's not aware that you called us, so she shouldn't be a with you. If she does show up, give us a call. You don't have to tell her that you're calling us. If she shows up crazy, though, call 911. >> Most likely, though, she wouldn't know anything yet. >> Yeah. I mean, I'm sucks. We really >> We're going to do our best. Luckily, she goes to two regular places. That's on our side. Investigators located her at a local establishment she was known to visit but were unable to reach her immediately. >> Hi, how you doing? What's this everybody? Can we show you a picture of somebody that we're looking for? >> Feel like I've maybe seen her walk around outside. >> Could you tell us maybe how long ago? >> Like one of like the little dick walkers around here. I don't know if >> does she work around here or >> No, she lives out. So, got a question for you. Are your receipts like if somebody charges a credit card, does the receipt have the name on it? Are >> they time? >> Just for that once they're badged, they go into like a what what time period? >> The last 354 minutes. >> Oh, no. >> This is the only group that's been I've had the door locked until like right now. >> After nearly 2 hours of searching, officers found the mother who appeared impaired, accompanied by an unidentified individual. Authorities also noted items in her possession that required further investigation. Keep coming. Keep coming. Keep coming. Keep coming. Keep coming. You're okay. Keep coming. >> You're okay. Keep coming back towards us. Come over to the right. To the right. >> Down. >> You got anything on you? >> No. >> All right. You're being arrested. >> Why? >> Try on the No needles. >> No. >> You come up against the car. I'll explain everything to you. Okay. You have anything in your bra? Who is this guy? Who is the guy that you're with? a friend of mine. What's going on? I'm going to place you in my car and I will speak to you. Take a seat. >> I'm going to read you your Miranda. Okay. I'm required to warn you before you make any statement that you have the following constitutional right to remain silent, not answer any questions. Do you understand? You have to say yes or no for my camera. What? >> I don't have the keys are over there. Any statement you make must be freely and voluntarily given. Do you understand? You got to speak up. Presence and representation of a lawyer of your choice before you make any statement and during any questioning. Do you understand? You're entitled to the presence and representation of a courtappointed lawyer before you make any statement during any questioning. Do you understand? >> No. Okay. >> I lock the doors. Um >> yeah, that's perfect. I just want to make sure there's no because she's a known user. So I just want to make sure before I What >> did you search this already? >> No, I just surfer right now. What does that do? >> I don't know. We let him go. Look at this. The following day, officers spoke with the children to help them express their experience, reinforce safety awareness, and ensure they receive proper support. >> I just want to talk to you. Okay. You want to sit? >> You know you're not in trouble, right? >> Yeah. >> Are you scared? >> No. >> You nervous right now? >> No. >> Good. You're brave for coming to talk to me. Do you know what the difference is between a truth and a lie? All right. So, if I said I'm wearing purple right now, would that be a truth or a lie? >> Either. >> What color am I wearing? >> Black. >> All right. Good point. What color is my shirt? right here. >> Green. >> Green. All right. So, is that the truth? >> No. >> No, that's not the truth. All right. What color is this wall? >> Green. >> That's green, right? You like having a little sister? >> Kind of. >> Kind of. You're a big brother. That's exciting. So, what happened at mommy's? >> She was like going to somewhere. I was by myself. >> Do you know how long you were by for? It's okay if you don't know. >> I mean, 30 minutes or an hour or something? >> 30 minutes or an hour? What did you do when mommy left, played games? Did you eat dinner before mommy? >> Yes. >> What' you eat? >> Chicken nuggets. >> Did mommy tell you where she was going? >> No. And then your stepdad came. >> Yeah. >> Then what? >> I went to my grandma's house. >> You went to your grandma's house? Your stepdad brought you? Were you scared when mommy left? No. You were able to take care of yourself? That's it. I'm done. Do you have any questions for me? >> No. >> You're really brave. You're a brave big brother. You got a good dad here. I'll talk to you without him. >> Okay. >> So, if you want I'll go outside. >> You want to stay here? >> Can you wait here? >> Yeah, sure. >> Okay. >> Sorry for making you come out. >> I just have to get on camera, but obviously I know she But it just solidifies it even more for the court, >> right? >> Um, she was arrested last night. I arrested her at the bar. >> That's what told me. >> Yeah. So, she got arrested. Most likely what will happen is there's going to be some court some kind of court order prohibiting her from the children. I mean obviously DCF will talk to you, courts will talk to you and you guys can catch it from there. That's up to you guys. But usually for the most part the court automatically puts that in place. >> Well, it's great. She can do like the same exact thing. >> Yeah, she called me. Was it with him? >> Well, he was like technically involved but he was with me at the time but he was with his with her other son. >> And he stays with you primarily for the most part. All right. >> Not lately. been with her for a couple uh couple days. >> Do you have any questions? You have my number >> and I really appreciate you coming out again. Sorry to make you drive all the way out here. >> No problem. >> You going to grandma's tonight? >> I don't know. >> Yeah. You going to have fun with grandma and grandpa? Thank you so much. Again, you have my number if you need anything. Okay. >> The mother faced two counts of child with penalties in Florida of up to 10 years in prison or probation plus a $10,000 fine. Put your hands behind your back. Listen, you're not under arrest. I'm just detaining you for right now. Okay. >> They want me under arrest. >> Okay. Well, I'm going to detain you just for now. >> I'm just trying to get my children to >> I know. Just hang tight. Is that your babies? >> Right. Yeah. There's my babies. Where are they? The Chevrolet truck. >> I've got a picture of him. >> How uh >> It was hours ago. It was probably around like 3:00. I don't know if you see my eye. >> A little bit. Yeah. Open your eyes. Let me see. >> How much have you had to drink tonight? >> Like two trulies. Two trulies. >> Two trulies. Okay. Do you make your face that way? I'm just going to buckle you. Okay. >> No, you don't have to apologize to me. I'm just I'm just out here. Are they Y'all called me? You got some on you. Is that from you? >> Yeah, it's from my eye. >> From your eye? >> Yeah. Okay, just hang tight in here. Okay. >> Police gathered information from family members while ensuring the mother's rights and safety, preventing the situation from escalating. >> Hi. >> Okay, I'm good. Okay, so can I talk to whoever called 911? >> Okay, I'm Deputy Saledo with the sheriff's office. Tell me what happened. >> Well, that's my daughter-in-law. Okay. Um, we were all playing golf and she came over here to meet us after golf. We had swimming in the pool with the kids and everything. Obviously, we were having I had we all had a few trollies and stuff. My son was talking about something about women and she just flipped her red. >> So, was this your son? That's >> That's my son right there. >> Okay. But is he >> That's the dad of both of them. >> Have they ever Have you all ever been married? No. >> Okay. So, is it just boyfriend and girlfriend and have a child with the same >> for years and she just flips? When once she flips, you can't you can't change her. >> She's ready to go. >> I I've tried tried to respond. She can't drive. >> Ready to go, meaning leave the house or fight. >> She's ready to go home, right? And we've been obviously been drinking by the pool here. Tried to be responsible. Hey, like let's try to sober up a little bit. And you know, she's struggling in the past with, you know, triggers and stuff like that. And yeah, >> something must have triggered her with the intoxic with with the alcohol. >> I got you. >> She's a great person. She's beautiful. She's having obviously an episode right now. >> Hang on one second. Let me >> No regulation. >> I left the window down for her so she could get some air. Let me go roll that window up. What's going on? >> I just need some air. >> I did give you air. That's why I rolled your window down. >> I mean like AC air. >> You're fine. I will get you some AC. Okay. I need you to breathe in through your nose, out through your mouth. You're having an anxiety attack. Do you need me to call an ambulance to come check you out? You sure? >> I have these all the time. >> Okay. >> AC. Thank you. I'm so sorry. >> I got you some AC. Okay. Listen, whatever you do to help with the anxiety, just do that. Okay. There you go. >> Her boyfriend offered a statement that partially supported the mother, but officers noticed certain physical details that did not completely match what he described. >> If I can get a hold of her parents or maybe they can come take her. Maybe >> I need to figure out, right? I need to figure out what happened exactly and if the child was present when it happened. I need to figure out all of those things. >> Banked a few times. >> Bracked and that's in Florida, right? >> Is that in Florida or here as well? >> Oh, here. >> Here. Okay. >> Yeah. Both both children were inside when she started her episode and then >> she attempted to get them in the trunk and we stopped it and that's kind of what escalated it. So, she was never in front of the kids. >> What exactly happened? Cuz I know that she was hitting you at one point. She hit any of the kids. >> No, she didn't hit anybody. It was just simply her wanting her kids and feeling like we were stopping her from having her kids, but but realistically it was she's just having an episode. We've been drinking obviously by my mom's pool back in the backyard and um obviously we don't want to drink and drop. So just we're simply just my father-in-law through the kids. >> Mommy's stepping in here. >> You're protecting her and I'm tired of it. >> Let's find Hold on. Hold on a minute. Hold on a minute. We're going to separate. >> You're protecting her and you always do. >> Hold on a minute. Hold on a minute. Tell me your name is the most reasonable way. Tell me your name. >> I'm Aaron. >> I'm going to come I'll go inside and talk to her in just a minute. Okay. If y'all do me a favor, just keep her inside. >> It did get escalated. >> I'll be right in there to talk to you. Okay. >> I'm okay. Thank you, though. >> Situation got escalated. Obviously, women >> My mom got involved. It was It was a little heated. She's having an episode. We got the kids out of the situation. They were in the truck. We got them out of the truck. She's not a person. She's just having an >> She's screaming. Is she in the car? >> Yeah, she is. I blasted the AC for her. Roll the windows up. Yeah, she's just not herself right now. Kids inside. She hasn't hurt anybody. She obviously needs help. So, we What's the next step? What do we do? Do I call her parents? Do they come get her? >> Not Not right now. So, um do you have your ID on you? Make sure that you don't have any or anything like that? >> Yeah, no problem at all. >> On that side, is that from her or you? >> Honestly, >> your neck is pretty red. Is it a little red? >> Can you pull your shirt down just a little bit? Did she hit you on your neck at any point? >> Um light shove. Just simple argument on that, you know. Nothing nothing more than just >> You got some redness right there. >> Yeah, just just a little redness. nothing bother her. >> The mother remained in the car and was initially hesitant to communicate which added to the tension at the scene. >> Hey, Abby. Abby, what's going on? I'm excited. >> Do you want me to get a med unit? >> I can't breathe. >> Do you want me to get a med unit to come check you out? >> I just can't I don't want the door shut. I'm >> They're just going to come check you out. You want Do you want them to? >> No. It's going to cost me a fortune. I I just can't The door be shut. Listen, it's not going to cost you anything for them to come check you out. Do you want them to? >> No, please. >> Okay. Well, I need you to wait here and I need you to quit screaming. Okay. I have to shut the door. >> Please like drive the way. I can't >> I understand, but I have to keep it shut. I can't leave it open. >> They call the medic. I can't I can't I can't I can't. >> Abby, how old are you? >> I am 20 29. >> I think she's slamming her head though. >> I mean, I've got FBA. Okay, >> I've got battery FBA, I think. Yeah, cuz he had some right here and on his neck. I just need to add the to with the baby. >> I'll stay here for the med. >> I'm going to leave it alone, please. >> That's fine. >> Officers approached to speak with her in a calm manner. And their brief interaction indicated she was under significant stress. >> Please, >> you need to chill out. Stop. >> Shut the door. >> Stop. Act like a grownup. Put your feet down. >> Please don't shut the door. Please. >> You need to chill out. >> Please don't shut the door. I I can't breathe when the door shuts. Please, I'm begging you. I'm not trying to act like a child. I genuinely can't breathe when the door. >> How do you drive a car then? >> Like a normal person with noting cuffs on my back of my hand. >> So, what's got to do? I can't breathe. >> You need to just take deep breaths and calm down. >> I can't. I can't. Never been in this situation before. Two little girls that depend on me. I'm not trying to be dramatic, please. I have two little girls that debar on me with how I am. It's not fair that my my boyfriend's family doesn't like me. There's a whole team against me and my kids who can't even speak for themselves. I'm not a bad mom. I have been taking my care of my kids while their father has been doing whatever the wants for the last year and isn't until the last couple of months. I haven't been so tired of being I should just stay a single mom at my parents house and everything from my kids while my boyfriend just came. Statements from other family members provided additional context emphasizing the importance of emotional control and maintaining a safe and responsible environment for children. >> They were in the back and started talking about cuz they've been split up for a little bit. Um they've been together for 10 years but off and on because of her condition. They just got back together and moved back in together. And he was talking about girls that he's dated like how women some women without children and some women that how you could tell and she just flipped out flipped out like that trigger and she came out here started grabbing the kids from the house started loading the kids up. We thought we she just came in the house and then that's when my daughter was like she's loading the kids up in the car like she's leaving and I was like she is not leaving. She's been drinking. She's not leaving with the kids. So my husband, that's when we were out here and she was screaming, yelling about she was get she got into the driver's seat and he went and ripped the keys out of the car and that's when she came out screaming. Went after him. She was on the floor. Yeah. Went after him um saying that she is he he's not going to take the keys from her. She's bringing her kids home. And that's when my son came out and said, "Abby, we can't not drive. We're drinking. We cannot drive." I said, "You're not leaving my house drinking with those babies. you're not doing it. She was like, "Don't you tell me what we're doing." And went off and that's where it just >> if you'll do me a favor, just stay inside. Okay. >> And that's where it just escalated to where he came out and tell told her, "We're not leaving." And she just went off. She was him screaming and yelling in front of the kids. The kids were screaming, crying in the car. Next minute I know she's coming out with a knife. Started coming after my daughter. >> Was it was it like a kitchen knife or a pocket knife? >> That's a construction. He had he took it inside. >> I don't know if you want to go get it. >> Gave it to Aaron. You want me to go get it? >> Yeah, if you don't mind. And who did she come after with that? >> She was coming after my daughter and that's when it kind of got a little in the yard and she was like trying to calm her down and was in the yard trying to calm her down. >> Who got away from? >> Um I don't even remember like who got the away from her. >> All I know is she said, "I have a knife." And then >> it was escalating in the yard. She was pretty much just running up the yard right here with a whenever she got to about right here, >> she lost it. >> She saw the she just she like barely >> I never saw that. I actually heard her say I >> didn't you know. >> Yeah, that's what she did and then the flew. I told her to stop. She stopped and moved to the side and then she came up here and was screaming >> and then I picked up. >> Okay. >> Notably, there may have been previous concerns involving the family which officers considered during their response. >> How did you feel when she was running towards you? >> All I heard honestly was I have a kind of just put her to the ground. >> You did and I was like you need to stop and hold her there. She kept getting back up and I was trying to hold her there again and I never saw the I I did I know that they had she had but I never like I never saw. >> So you just reacted really and got her to the ground. >> All I heard was so that's was my reaction. >> I'm pretty sure that protecting her protecting that I got mad. I'm sorry. No, no. I I understand >> because he protects her all the time and it's time. It's time for her to get in trouble for what she does. >> He has gone through this so many times. She has crap out of him so many times and I'm just done with it. I'm done. >> This is the first time that I've like witnessed it, but I've heard about it a lot. >> What kind of man would I be to let them leave? >> That's construction. >> Even I let the >> No, you couldn't. No, y'all did y'all did everything correct. She walked back to the car with the youngest and I was the only one that walked out there with her. >> Yeah. >> And I was like, "Abby, like, what are you doing?" And I was on the opposite end of her and she was putting the youngest in the car. Yeah. >> I was like, "What are you doing?" And right when she looked at me, her eyes were like, >> I was like, "Oh, yeah." >> She just she just gets really like she's not there when this stuff like this happens. >> Stop. You don't tell me what to do. My face would be coming up. And that was it. >> She played faith. Don't trust her. >> I got you. >> No, that was it. Like >> I've seen her in in the car. She That's okay. >> So >> further details were collected to help officers reach a fair and lawful decision. >> So she just kept on. Babies were screaming, crying in the car the whole time I was on dispatch. >> Have you all checked on them? Are they okay? >> Are they at all? >> No. She would never do anything to them. >> I'm going to go ahead and tell you that she is going to go to jail tonight for battery FBA against your son. There's no option for that. Cruelty to the third for both children. So, two counts on that. And for you, did you in any way, shape, or form feel like you were in danger or your life was in danger when she came at you with that? And did you want to press charges? >> Honestly, it depends. >> And it's totally your choice. >> Charges. Did both people go to jail? Like, is it like >> No, she by her. There's no reason to press charges, >> but I just feel like when she came towards my family and said she had, I felt like I had to do what I had to do. >> Yeah. So, just to be clear, you don't want to press charges. >> What about you, sir? I know that she came after you at one point. >> Well, because I grabbed the keys, >> right? >> I mean, no. Like I said, what what kind of man was I going to be if I let her drive? She had the car cranked up. Cranked up. You reacted. It was started. So, I'm not going to press any charges. >> Okay. >> She's a good mom. She really is a good mom. But she she's not going to leave without drunk. >> It's just I feel like something has to happen for her to open her eyes and get on medication because they've already put her on medication and she won't freaking take it. >> And if she left with those babies tonight and Aaron didn't go with her because she was drinking it would have been frantic and she would have crashed like truck. >> She would have I mean she's she's drunk. Despite the tension, the mother continued to express love and concern for her child, reminding viewers that stress and emotional pressure can sometimes cause people to lose control. >> I love my children so I don't think anyone's saying you don't. I don't even know what happened. I just pulled up with my partner, so just keep breathing and calming down for me. >> I just can't be in closed spaces with me. >> And for the last year, I have been at my family's house when my children, he does whatever he wants to do. Finally, I was so tired of being a single mom and I love him to he does not love me the same. So, I'm here and he's not I don't the [ __ ] out of me tonight. Do you see my eye? I don't know if you can see my eye. I have never been beat up before. I've never been in a cop before. Like I like I was a teacher. Like I And that's not a facade. Like I feel like aing mama bear that just wants to Oh, this so bad. Please just like like I don't know. I'm not trying to escape. I've really never been in this position before except for the first time I smoked pot when I was 15 years old. What was best for my children? I just wanted to go home so they could sleep in their own beds instead of sleeping at their drunking meies out. >> What was your name again? >> Abby. >> Abby. This is Abby. She's complaining of a panic attack. >> My head >> really bad. I got the You can't see it and I can't show you and I'm a snotty person and I apologize for that. >> You ever had something like this happen before, Abby? >> No, I have children. I don't do anything. I don't I just wanted to get home with my kids and obviously I'm not able to drive. So, my family thought this was a better solution. >> I'm so sorry. I'm ready to start bacteria. I'm like super emotional face on the right side of my head. >> You're right or my right? >> Wait, my right. >> No, no, no, no. Good. O2 is good. I mean, I don't see any pressure issue right now. >> Sounds good. Okay. >> I don't think anybody does help you there. Officers stayed professional, separated those involved, and prevented the situation from escalating further. >> My yellow lab is right there, but she's >> sweet. There's a horse down there. >> I won't go down there. >> Hi. >> She's blind. >> Hi, baby. Come on. Let's go. Hi. >> So, I'm understanding correctly, everything happened by the truck, right? >> Correct. >> Is that where she was grabbing on you and >> Yeah. I mean, she was trying to get her kids home and was obviously out of sorts, >> right? And are they okay? >> Yeah, they're fine. They don't >> none of them are. >> Absolutely not. >> You know what's really funny is that my boyfriend's sister gets to leave here drunk all the time. Which I don't condone any of it. Glad that they stopped me because I wouldn't have wanted anything to happen to my girls or me because they can't live without me. But I just think it's funny that they would go to this length for me to not get in a car but for their own daughter who drives drunk all the time. I just have to let go of some anguish which is not your problem or your you know but thank you for listening even if you're not listening. >> I'm listening. >> They used calming techniques such as controlled breathing and giving space to help the mother regain emotional control. >> Jesus. I'm going to go back and give these to a >> We just have to cut these off of them. >> Oh, thank you. >> One for each of them. >> Thank you. >> Just call the jail probably tomorrow morning. >> Yeah. >> Go from there. >> Thank you. >> Yep. >> Y'all take care. >> All right. Be safe. >> I don't know, but honestly, I would much rather be taken than have to stay here. >> So, what happened tonight? >> We were drinking. And usually this happens like every weekend. We always all come over here, hang out by the pool, we drink. Everybody starts to leave and usually Aaron, my boyfriend, the husband or the father of my children, is usually on my side with us leaving at the same time. The sister started to get a little nasty with me. So, I just walked away and I started to load my kids, which I understand I should not be driving. I get that 100%. I honestly don't know what happened after that. I loaded my kids. Next thing I knew, I was on the ground. My boyfriend's family is fighting me, which is un unlike them because like I said, his sister drives leaves here all the time drunk as [ __ ] which I don't condone that whatsoever. And I'm so glad I did not leave here drunk. But this has never happened. It's never they've never called the cops on on her. Sorry, I'm being drama. >> You're fine. I get in. All right. So, I'm going to go ahead and tell you you are going you are under arrest at this time for a battery FBA and two counts of children. I'm going to get to children in the third because your babies were present. Three counts. Okay. Deep breaths. Deep breaths. It doesn't mean that you hurt them. Just means that they were present. Okay. Okay. >> Okay. Okay. We're going to go to the jail in just a few minutes. Okay. I'm going to buckle you. Okay. >> Yes. Thank you. I have my shoes. And then you're just going to go straight ahead to that green door right there. The mother faced charges of FBA battery and to children with Georgia law prescribing 2 to 15 years in prison. Timely intervention shows the important role of the community in protecting children, demonstrating that law, compassion, and education can work together to handle tense situations safely and appropriately. The three cases from Kentucky, Florida, and Georgia that we reviewed highlight the importance of parental responsibility and emotional awareness. The law always prioritizes the safety and well-being of children. And even a single moment of poor judgment can result in serious legal consequences. The key takeaway is this. Discipline should always be guided by emotional balance, understanding, and genuine care. A moment of anger should never shape a child's future or a parents life. Thank you for watching.
