When my sergeant gets here, if you're not going to comply with that, we're going to break the window and pull you out of the car. >> I'm traveling, officer. >> You're going to be traveling to jail if you don't identify yourself. >> I'm done. >> Okay. >> Policing is the career field that you can interact with people on a daily basis that take the bad advice of other people and witness the consequences firsthand of that bad advice. And very often, it is a person who is listening to another person on a cell phone giving them the sovereign citizen ideology and just like a flowchart, it always ends up exactly the same way, in the back of a police car. This is one of those. Remember to click that subscribe button. >> Good evening. Can you pop the window down for me? >> That's as far as it goes. >> Okay. I'm Officer Fred Lake Stevens. Please audio video recorded. Reason I stopped you is your tabs are expired, 2024. Any reason they're so far expired? >> No, sir. I'm going to video tape this for my safety. >> Great. I am, too. I need your driver's license, registration, and insurance, please. >> Okay. Um, I have my license. This officer is pulling me over right now and asking for my license. >> Registration and insurance, please. >> And he's asking for my registration as well. And I don't have my insurance with me. >> Yes, you do. >> Ding ding ding. Sovereign citizen ideology in full display. We got the window refusing to be rolled down. We got a person who has expired registration for it looks like 2 years. This was a 2026. The officer mentioning that that was expired in 2024. The assistant I'm recording and again, I don't mind people recording and I think that you would do it safely that an officer shouldn't have a challenge with you recording either. But now we're getting this back and forth and you can definitely tell this is going down the sovereign citizen [music] path. >> Driver's license, registration, and insurance, please. >> You're saying you don't? >> It's a lawful stop. You're required to identify yourself with all three documents. >> I have my community property. >> If traffic infraction and now that's a lawful detention. Now you need to give me your driver's license, registration, and your insurance. >> I'm saying it's a traffic infraction. >> 1845-14, you want to float this direction, please? >> Okay, I call it dial-a-defense. Almost always you will see them call someone on the phone who'll be giving them horrific advice, which is going to do the exact same thing that we've seen in all the other videos. And it makes the situation significantly worse when you think about the fact that now another unit has to come and deal with this, which is a minor traffic infraction. The interesting thing is that you'll see people all over the internet. I mean, there are hundreds, if not thousands of them, that head all this false ideology to people, but you never see a video of them and it working. You'll see videos of them, some of them, but you never see a video of them and it working, cuz it never ever works. And the dial-a-defense, again, that person just makes the situation significantly [music] worse. >> Calling my supervisor. I'll take him, please. Are you going to provide me with your driver's license, registration, and insurance? >> I'm not going to traffic infraction. >> Great. That's awesome. I need your driver's license, registration, and your insurance. It is obstruction for you not to provide that information for me. >> I'm not doing anything illegal. >> Didn't ask. Didn't ask. I need your driver's license, registration, and insurance. >> But as I said, I have a saying that I don't believe >> Nope. Need to identify yourself. Driver's license, registration, and insurance. When my sergeant gets here, if you're not going to comply with that, we're going to break the window and pull you out of the car. I'll be right back, ma'am. We've got a traveler who doesn't want to give me any ID. And she's refusing to identify herself. Says she doesn't need to. Says she does. She's refusing to do so. >> I'm not going >> Nope. Hi, ma'am. How are you? I'm Sergeant Heineman. So, failing to ID is going to get you in jail. >> I'm traveling, officer. >> Okay. You're going to be traveling to jail if you don't identify yourself. Okay. So, driving is a privilege, not a right. And you have to identify yourself. And And you have to identify yourself or you're going to end up in jail for failing to identify. All right, it's a misdemeanor. So, either we can break this pretty little window or you can provide some sort of identification to my partner here. And you can claim to sue You can try to sue. Or I can break the window, we can pull you out, and enjoy the jail. The crime is failing to identify, like I just explained. It's a misdemeanor, and it's going to end up with you in jail if you don't do that. And so, this is your last chance or else we're going to go that route. Have you provided my partner with identification? No. So, failing to identify is that RCW, and that's the misdemeanor. And I can give you a business card if you want so you can stop Huh? Okay. So, hop out of the car, and we'll we'll cross that bridge when you want it. But as of now, you're under arrest for failing to identify. >> Okay, there's something that I'd like to address, and it's the officer swaying back and forth, and it makes the body cam make you a little bit woozy. Humans are creatures of habit. We like to keep our hands certain ways. Sometimes we like to have these idiosyncratic things where we move our body in interesting ways. When it comes to body cam, officers definitely have to take into consideration they could potentially obscure something that is exculpatory in their favor by moving around. It's maybe difficult to do, but the purpose of the body cam is to capture the things that are going. Officers know better than just about anyone that a split second of something that occurs, it can make something look completely different. I don't know this officer. I'm going to tell him to stop swaying. My point is for the broad mass of people to understand that especially for officers, if you have the ability to get capture the video better by not swaying, it helps you in nearly every situation, especially if you're doing what you're supposed to be doing. >> I can't hear if you're thinking I'm listening to whoever's talking on the phone. Okay, so I can't hear him if you're You have. Failing to identify is that crime. You're You're going to be traveling to jail. You're failing to identify. It's a misdemeanor. I provided you ample warnings to get out of the car and to cooperate and you're not doing so. So, if you're listening to your husband, he's giving you bad information. 133. You just took down my whole name. So, you can tell your husband that I don't want to break your window. It is. You see the red light there? That is recording. Yeah. Fenton, F E N T O N, 181. So, ma'am, your husband's not here and he's not the reason why we're pulling you over. I'm going to give you one last chance to cooperate and if you don't, then the window's going to get broken and I'm going to We're going to end up taking you to jail. If he's talking to expect me to listen to him, I cannot hear him. Okay. So, ma'am, I'm going to explain to you one more time. If you do not cooperate, you're going to end up going to jail for failing to identify. Failing to identify yourself on a legal traffic stop is a misdemeanor crime. I'm going to end up breaking your window, the car's going to end up getting towed, you're going to end up in jail. You can go ahead and hang up the phone, too, because you're an adult, you can handle this by yourself without your husband. >> Again, I cannot hear what he's saying. You done? >> I'm done. >> Okay. >> Get out of the car. >> Can I find them in my purse? >> No, get out of the car. >> 141 resisting with the code for negative on there. >> I'm at the Arco on 9. I 9. Is it jail, I guess? Where are you taking me, sir? >> Jail. >> Where? Which one? >> We'll we'll tell you in a second. You're the adult, we'll talk to you here in a bit. >> my phone and my purse. >> Do you give me permission to access your vehicle to get your phone and your purse? >> In custody. You heard my saying sergeant shut down is not a person, it's a mode. In this case, it was also a person. Sergeant came there was not messing around, gave her ample opportunity to roll her window down. It's baffling to see adults act in this manner. I'm going to let this play out because I want to see what else happens, but there's definitely something I'd like to talk about because this is absolutely ridiculous. This occurred April 6th of 2026. >> I do give you permission. >> Didn't ask for that. >> I would like my purse and my phone >> So, this is why I'm talking to you, ma'am. >> That's fine. >> If you give me permission to get these things for you, I will happily do so. >> I would like I give you permission to get my phone and my purse and backpack, please. >> Say one more time. >> I give you permission to get my phone and my purse and backpack. It's on the on my dashboard. Yep. >> You can hang out here so you can watch what I'm doing for you, okay? Phone, giving it to my partner. And what else? Gray bag, black bag? >> Black bag. That black bag and then I have a green purse. >> Black bag, green purse. >> Okay, is there anything valuable in this backpack because the jail might not take that? >> Oh. >> Cuz it's too large. >> Okay, just my green purse then. >> Uh >> It's >> Floorboard? >> Yeah, it might have fallen down. Yeah, it's kind >> Can we go around to the other side so I don't have to climb over? >> I'll walk you over there. >> It might need to unlock >> It looks unlocked. >> Okay. >> Let's walk you over there. I'll go this way. >> Okay. >> This thing? >> Yeah, that's it. And can I have my hat? Is that a a thing? Like >> Have your what? >> My hat, my green hat. It's right there. >> Oh. Sure. >> Yeah. Can you put it on me? Okay, let's hold it there. >> You have keys for this? >> Actually, can you take it off? I can't have that. Um >> You want floorboard? >> Yes, that's better. >> Cool. >> Um >> Are your keys for this? >> They're on the roof. >> That's on the roof. Oh, it is? >> Yep. >> I tossed them on the roof. >> Okay. Go ahead and face my car for me. I'm actually going to have my other partner search you. Cuz she's here. You mind doing a search for me? I appreciate you. This is Officer Vancott. She's going to search you incident to arrest, okay? >> Okay. Anything I need that's going to poke you or stick you at me? Um no. >> Can you do that? Tell us what. >> Yep. Um I have a t-shirt on and a bra and I have a chemo device under my night. It looks kind of funny but it helps with >> What's going on with this? >> radiation. Oh, I I was moving today. Okay, it doesn't come off. Yep. That off. You got the vest? Yep. All right. Yep. All right. I have Put belt on there. >> Did you read your rights to her? >> No, not yet. >> Nothing in the shoes? >> No. >> Okay, nothing in these back pockets either? >> I don't think so. >> Okay. >> All right, I'm going to go take the hat off. All right, back to my hair. I need to take Oh, the moving belt? >> Yeah. >> Um which one is it? Um okay, is it a regular bra strap? >> I have cuts. >> Take those >> No. >> Okay. Okay. >> Got it. >> Nothing underneath it in the bra, right? >> Yeah, he's doing it. Thank you. >> Right, and it's >> Thanks, Jason. >> Uh husband is aware of what's going on and he's not super happy, so he might be in route from Arlington. I'm hoping that all this is taken care of and we're done out of here, but She's a traveler. Uh she won't identify. And there was ample opportunity to do it and her husband was on the phone telling her not to and Okay. >> traffic Um so, we'll just put it right in here and we'll need to let them know. I'm not sure. Okay, um I don't know if the Well, you're going to probably have to take this off. If you're not moving, what does this >> It supports my lower back after a long day of moving. >> Okay, um you will probably have to take it off too. So, I we're going to leave it off for right now. We're going forward. Yeah, we're going to read the rights first. >> 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 $16 in cash sound about right, ma'am? $16 in cash. Okay. I got my stuff fixed. >> Um Back seats unlocked. You want to just place it in there real quick? >> Yeah, you just leave >> I'll write it up right this second. >> Um yeah, I mean, we're going to have this car towed. Is that what you're asking? All of your purse? Yeah, everything that can go with you is going to go with you to the jail. And then they'll book you in there. >> Is it okay we put your basil back in the car? Yeah. I am All right, we just didn't want to well >> I would like my supervisor to be here. >> Yeah, basil and stuff can go back in the car. >> I think you're okay. >> We need all these purses? >> What? I'm going to let her have her wallet and I think that's it. >> Huh? >> Do you have your jumper? >> No. I was hoping not. >> As quickly as you said go forward I was like you better not do anything. >> she wasn't in any cuffs yet. >> Yep, same. >> Same. So, maybe if you rotate your wrist cuz they're they're in oval shape. So, yeah. I know it's not comfortable, but okay. Okay, he'll be with you in just a second. >> I want to stop it right here and look at this lady sitting in the back of the car. She seems like she could be your neighbor, somebody who you would just walk by the street and she just seems like a normal lady. But at this age to act in this manner, it's baffling to me. A traffic citation. Let me just explain in case there's someone who's going to potentially fall down this ideology. A traffic citation is not an admission of guilt. It's just saying that the officer believes that you did something and you get to say your side in court. You're not saying you did anything. Roll down the window, take the citation, say I disagree with you, go to court and fight your case in court. Lose a window in the back of a car. As a father with daughters, to think that my son-in-law would give this kind of advice to my daughter would not make me happy at all. And as to the person who gives this kind of advice, I mean, this is where you end up having your significant other, the person that you love, end up with the advice that you gave them. Could have ended [clears throat] completely differently. It's 2026, people still continue to do this. >> We want you to take your things. That's not >> Okay, well, she can have her wallet. >> Hands. I've always wanted to try the photo. Yeah, and it worked out actually great. >> She had the window down just far enough for fingers to get in there. >> I wasn't super paranoid about that. >> She can have >> And I did it so I didn't have to do a booking. >> This is going in here. >> Pretty sure it's still looting if you damage property, isn't it? >> No. >> I don't know. >> The purse is going to She's not taking purse. >> She's going to get the wallet. There's too much other random junk inside that purse. >> Got it. Okay, you'll you can break the news. >> Yep. >> Okay, I know you probably mentioned it yourselves before team tech bun, we know that we're going to say she has amazing hair, absolutely amazing hair, but we know that the most tactical way to wear your hair in a patrol function is to wear it up in a bun. In fact, one of my buddies who I train with jujitsu with, he has really long long hair, but he never rolls with his hair down. He always puts it up in a bun. It's for males or females, having your hair up if someone can potentially grab it, definitely the best way to go. Shout out to team tech bun. >> All righty, ma'am. You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can be used against you in a court of law. You have the right at this time to speak to a lawyer and have them present while you're being questioned. If you cannot afford a lawyer, one will be appointed to represent you before questioning. If you wish, you can decide at any time to exercise these rights and not answer any questions. Do you understand these rights as I have explained them to you? >> Yes. >> Perfect. So, your wallet's going to go with us, phone's going to go with us. The purse has a bunch of other random things in it that went back into the car. So, I grabbed your priority items and they're going to go with us to the jail, okay? >> Can you >> And then >> The window's broken. Can you cover it up with my backpack and my stuff so that someone doesn't just get it? >> It's going to get towed and then we'll do an inventory of the things that are in there. >> Okay. >> And then, is there a way you want this turned off so you have battery? >> Um That's a good question. Um Yeah, it'd be good to turn it off. >> All right. How's that? >> Um it's the top right button and then I think the second button down on the left. Um and I I Oh, there you go. Yes. >> Perfect. >> Okay. All right. >> Why? Expired tabs, man. I'm like >> Um Was she clear current, license good? >> I don't know. She's not even the registered owner. So, I do let dispatch know I have her, but they didn't let me know anything about that. >> Okay. All right. Let me call Marisol. >> This is her in comparison. >> Mhm. >> Is she with a guy? >> Yeah, more than likely. >> Bob, do the ticket for all the above, though. >> Oh, I'm doing it for everything. >> infraction wise. >> Yep. >> Let me call Marisol. >> Um Do you need anything from me? >> So, make sure uh no, other than making sure that you put Just let him know that there's personal items in there. >> Okay. >> Uh cuz it's getting towed. >> Right. >> I don't think there's anything of value. You just take a peek from the outside of the window, not inside. And just make sure that looks like there's nothing of actual value and then make sure you note that for him. 1945 1945 arrived. Ending 85. Step on out for me. >> Okay. >> Step up on the curb. Watch the curb. I'll take a couple steps forward. Okay. >> So, the number you heard was off miles. In many departments, when a male officer transports a female, they give the on miles, which which is usually the last three or four numbers on the speedometer and the decimal. [music] But, sometimes it's a different number. And when they arrive, they give the off miles. So, it's on miles when you start, off miles when you end. So, they know that you went directly to where you're supposed to go. I know with GPS, you can track that anyway, but it's just a practice that a lot of departments have. And I looked at this and the car stop started at 8:14 and it ended at 8:52. And that's pretty efficient considering I know there were a lot of officers there, but it looked like everyone took a task. Someone was towing the car, someone was doing inventory. The female officer came to conduct the pat down. So, that's efficiency, especially if everyone clears off the call. But, it's also completely avoidable had this person just decided to show their driver's license. But, this is really interesting cuz I got the booking charge of this and this is really interesting and I haven't seen this before. Resisting arrest, operating a vehicle, refusing to comply with police. And the victim of the crime that they list is society. And I've always saw in those kind of situations the state or the jurisdiction, but they put society. To some degree, it really is because the waste of resources when this person could have just simply given their driver's license, accepted the citation, and signed it and said, "Okay, I'll go to court. I disagree with you in every fiber of my being, but I'm going to state my claim in court." But, no, they chose to go this route. So, I would agree that society is a good way to list the victim on this crime. On that note, brings me to something that is actually very well aligned with this, which is today's coin. Really interesting coin and I'm very excited to share it with you cuz this coin is a really educational coin. This is a CALEA coin. Now, this was sent to me and I was given permission to give the name because it's actually on the coin. But, this is a really beautiful coin want to tell you a little bit about CALEA. This coin was given by Stephanie Hayes, Certified Accreditation Manager from Land O' Lakes Police. And [music] I believe I may have done a video for them at some point cuz that looks familiar. But, CALEA, the gold standard in public safety and nationally accredited agency. So, CALEA handles accreditation for police departments. And police departments seek to be accredited because there are standards. And the police departments that are accredited are the departments that are truly respected throughout the entire world. Accreditation matters. I remember when my department was talking about accreditation and I learned about it way back in the '90s and it was really, really exciting to learn how interested the staff was because accreditation is what standards do you have for canine? What standards do you have for training for officers? What standards do you have for reporting different use of force? Everything when to become accredited, there's so many different things and you should really look into accreditation and I want to read this. Sergeant Curtis, as promised, please find enclosed Lander PD's CALEA coin. Beautiful coin. CALEA has increased accountability, transparency, solidified policy, improved training, and raised the bar for our organization. Thank you for all you do, Stephanie Hayes. So, as the manager of CALEA, I imagine what she does is ensure that their department maintains the CALEA standards and those standards are incredibly high. A really interesting thing for you to do is whatever department services your area, find out if they are accredited and you can find out some of the accreditation standards. I'm sure that they're public. Really, really cool coin. I'm excited to add that one to the collection, which brings me [music] to something else that's super exciting. I've been mentioning in the other videos that one-year anniversary is coming up very soon in the beginning of September for the Sergeant Curtis channel and we are giving back. An officer from a department of 100 or less officers is going to receive an all expenses paid trip to the International Association Chiefs of Police Conference in Florida. I will be in attendance. I will coin that officer. In addition to being able to attend the conference all expenses paid, the officer will receive a brand new body armor and a brand new body cam. That's the way that we want to give back and the rules for this contest will be posted very, very soon. So, click the notification bell so you know when new videos come out so that information will be on the site. The other thing that I'm really excited to mention is the memorial scholarship to honor my mom in her passing. The Dot Legacy Scholarship is also something that we're rolling out and that will be given to a person and the rules for that scholarship are coming up very, very soon. So, also tune in. That scholarship will go towards a student who's in a criminal justice program. It can be a high school senior or person who's already in a criminal justice or criminal justice-like program. The rules for that will also be coming out very soon. So, that's the Dot Legacy [music] Scholarship. So, make sure that you click the notification bell so that you will know when all of this information comes out because it's coming out very soon. If you like this kind of content, like the video, subscribe to the channel, and click on the video that's on your screen for more content just like this.
