You got 10 seconds. Bye. >> Wait, wait, wait. Open the door. >> Usually, two sovereigns in the car is double the trouble. But sometimes there's the rare unicorn situation where one of the sovereigns sees the writing on the wall and taps out and leaves the stop. The other decides to keep playing games, loses a window, goes to jail. This is one of those. >> Hello. How are you? >> What's up? >> Hey, I'm deputy to the sheriff's office. Just say my camera's on. The reason for the stop's the license plate. >> Yeah. Do you have ID or anything? Yeah. >> Okay. Can I get that from you? >> Yeah, you can get a traffic infraction. >> Yeah, it's traffic infraction. So, by RCW, you're required to give me a license. >> Traveling. Okay. Uh, well, do you have any paperwork for the car? >> Okay. Can I see that? committed a crime. >> Well, if you fail your ID, it's a crime. But we don't have to go that route. >> ID if there was another infraction for that. >> Ding, ding, ding. We got the partially rolled down window, the traveling, the traffic infraction, all the sovereign talk. So, we'll see how this goes. We're on the passenger side. Good stuff so far. >> All I'm trying to do is just trying to exercise my rights. I'm not trying to be a dick. >> No, absolutely. I don't think you're being a dick. All I'm trying to do is exercise my rights. Officer, >> do what? >> All I'm trying to do is exercise my rights. >> I'm not mad at you for that. Totally get it. Right. >> Well, I'm going to put my uh >> What's that? >> The dash cam. >> My dash cam. >> Okay, sir. >> Yeah. Yeah, you can throw that on, man. >> Nothing wrong. >> Okay. >> All I'm trying to do is exercise my rights. >> To totally get it and respect that, man. But if this >> You took an oath to the Constitution. >> Sure did. Yeah. >> Right. >> Y Okay. >> Yep. So, if you want to look it up really quick, man, I'd be happy to guide you through where you're supposed to ID. >> 4661. >> Listen. >> 400. >> If I was in traffic, right? >> Traffic. >> What? What do you mean >> a crime? Did he commit a crime? >> No. No. >> Let me talk to this. >> Hold on. No. Did he commit a crime? >> Let me talk to this man. If I was in traffic. >> No, you can continue. >> Yeah, man. I I'm not not trying to give you a hard time or anything. >> Okay, you notice that the driver reached over and locked the door. That definitely means something. He's dealt with police before because he believes that the officer might try to enter the vehicle. Here's another thing, and this is a police tip, and it's a really good practice. Just ask the driver to keep their hands on the steering wheel cuz a lot of moving around can cause some dangerous challenges. And you can articulate later that I asked the driver to place their hands on the steering wheel. Several times they removed their hands from the steering wheel and started to reach around inside of the vehicle. It's a good practice to have people maintain their hands in one position. And if you're the passenger or if you're the driver getting stopped by the police, police appreciate if you keep your hands visible and in the same location. >> Just a driver's license. >> That's it. >> Unless unless I've committed a crime, I don't have to provide ID because you know what? >> Okay. Well, right. So, here's the thing. Okay. have 82 continue as well. The license plate is, you know, saying doesn't need to have a license in my life. >> Done nothing wrong. I'm just exercising my right. >> Okay. >> I'm a state citizen. >> Okay. >> I have the uh the right to travel. >> Okay. >> I don't have a contract with the state, >> right? >> So therefore, I am 100% free to exercise my rights. >> Okay. >> And travel freely at my private conve. >> Sure. Okay. >> Okay. >> So, I don't know if you can walk. >> Can you Can you walk? >> Uh, yeah, actually. >> Yeah. >> I'm just going to walk. >> Okay. I mean, yeah. >> Like, is he going to be under arrest? >> No. >> Well, I I hope we don't get to that point. I'd like to >> You were like on your radio and you're like >> I I have a sergeant coming. >> That That's it. Which is something that that I do in situations like this, right? >> Get in trouble. >> You're not You're not in trouble. So, like >> the way the state law works is you're totally free to leave. I can't detain you. You had your seatelt on. You're totally good to go. So, if you want to leave, you're welcome to leave. If you want to stay, you're welcome to stay. Totally up to you. >> I'm good. >> Okay. >> So, this is interesting because he mentioned state law that you're free to go. You're free to go. You're free to go. There's a case that I'd like you to look up. It's Brenland versus California, and it's a Supreme Court case. I believe it's from 2001. The Supreme Court has ruled that if a police officer stops a car, all of the passengers inside of the car are considered seized under the Fourth Amendment. So, you won't see people just getting up and leaving from a car stop. Now, if the officer says you can go, then obviously you can go. However, once on a car stop, it's not that people can just come and go from the car as they please. Obviously, this is an officer safety concern. This officer chose to make the decision, but Brenland v. California is a really interesting case. When you have some time, take a peek. >> Sorry, man. That sucks. >> Okay. >> Okay. All right. So, have you been stopped before? No. Like under this kind of situation? >> No. >> No. Okay. So, like >> I've been traveling since June 7th. >> Okay. >> 2000 24. >> 2000. Like last year. You never been pulled over? >> 24. All I'm doing is exercise travel. >> I'm not mad at you. >> I'm not driving. >> Right. There's a big difference between driving and traveling. >> Okay. >> So, you're trying to presume that I'm driving. >> What's the difference? >> No, there's a big difference. >> Well, what is it? >> The difference is is a driver is somebody who's uh being employed on the roadway for hire for somebody who's making money like a a truck driver, a taxi driver. >> Yeah. >> One of those. No. >> So, like a commercial vehicle >> authority over me. Have you seen any of this online? >> I have. Yeah, I've dealt I've dealt with this a few times. >> I'm not for commercial use. >> Okay. >> I'm 100% private traveler. >> Get it? Totally. >> I'm traveling at my private conveyance. >> Absolutely. >> I've done nothing wrong. >> Okay. >> And all I want to do is be on my way. >> Totally get it, man. Totally get it. However, here's the dilemma, right? So, [laughter] >> I've listened to you and I want you to listen to me, too. Right. We've had a good conversation so far. I don't see why we can't continue that. >> Right. You don't have a license plate. Okay. Which is required by the state of Washington. >> That's if you're uh driving commercially. I'm not. >> That that's required for every vehicle that's going to operate on a roadway. >> That's a vehicle. If you're traveling [ __ ] privately, you don't have to have a driver's license or a a [ __ ] license plate. >> A lot of people, I know, are likely pulling their hair out like, "Why don't you just get him out of the car? Why don't you just do this?" There's a method, I believe, to this officer's madness, and I will cover that once we get a little further into stop, but I believe there's a method to the reason why he's elongating this conversation and engaging in this back and forth. >> You are traveling privately. >> Okay? You have the God-given right and you have the [ __ ] uh constitutionally protected right to travel. >> Where does it say that in the constitution of that? >> It's all about the constitution. >> But where where is that in the >> constitution? Right, sir? >> Yep. >> Right. So therefore, that's all that matters. It's not about uh codes or statutes for the commercial motor vehicle code. It's all about commercial. >> Sure. I'm not traveling commercially. I'm not driving commercially. I'm 100% private and I'm traveling privately and therefore I can do whatever the [ __ ] I want. >> Right. No. And I understand what you're saying. Right. Right. >> But but at the same time, right, >> I I I do need a driver's license from you. >> I don't have a driver's license. I surrender. >> You have ID? >> Okay. We see that what I believe to be is a sergeant has arrived and is on the driver's side. It looks like the gloves are going on. So, this might be a sergeant shutdown type situation. >> You could give me your name. >> Yeah, I could, but I haven't committed a crime. >> You committed a traffic infraction? >> A traffic infraction is a is a infraction to the code, right? >> Yep. To the RCW, the state law. >> It's a It's an infraction to the [ __ ] RCW code. >> No doubt. >> Right. >> No doubt. Totally get it, man. So, there's my sergeant over there. Right. >> All right, dude. Don't drive forward or you're going to pop the tires. Okay. >> Okay. >> You guys are presuming that I'm a a a driver. >> You are a driver by the definition state of Washington. >> Let me tell you the difference. >> Failed to identify himself to you. So far, let me tell you, buddy. >> Okay. >> A driver is somebody employed on the roadway. >> Locked. >> No, he locked it. Okay. So, here's the thing, man. >> Somebody is employed. >> I want to make something super clear to you, man. I I need your driver's license. >> Employed on the roadway for hire. I need your driver's license. >> I'm not an I'm not employed on the roadway for hire. >> Okay, one second. Okay, let me tell you something real quick. I need your driver's license, an ID card, or your full name and date of birth. >> Or an ID card? >> I surrendered my driver's license >> or you can just give me your name, date of birth. >> Okay. Are you going to take me to jail >> if you don't give me that stuff? Yeah. >> Really? >> Yep. >> All I want to do is [ __ ] just What's this guy doing? that it's just something that that we do. >> I'm shut this [ __ ] thing off is a big deal. >> I totally appreciate that. >> Look, I'm I'm all I'm trying to do is is exercise my rights, guys. >> Right. I I totally get it. Not mad at you at all. Right. >> Let me put this in because >> what's his name? >> Is he giving? >> You don't know my name. I haven't committed >> audio video recorded. I am going to break your window if you do not give us your identification. >> Here we go, guys. I have not done nothing wrong. >> Okay. Told you what road we're going down, man. >> All right. You have five. You have 10 seconds. 10. >> Listen to him. >> Seven. Six. Five. >> Wait. Wait. We got to get you in the car. >> You're under arrest. >> Unbuckle yourself. Get out of the car. >> Get out of the car. Get out of the car. >> Get out of the car. >> Get out of the car. UNDER >> Why are you guys doing this to me? >> Oh my god. WHY WHY ARE YOU guys doing this to me? >> Because I'm trying to traveling up half the cops in the county right now. We don't have time. >> All you have to do is give us a name. >> Do this to me >> because you're not giving us a name, >> dude. I'm not doing nothing wrong. All I'm trying to do is exercise my right. Oh my god. All I'm doing is exercise my right. >> I have done nothing wrong. You guys, >> thanks a lot, you guys. >> You guys are supposed to exactly what was going to happen. >> You guys are supposed to uphold my rights. Why are you guys being like this? >> We'll walk back here. >> You guys know that you have the right to travel. You don't got to [ __ ] be like this. >> All right. Face my car, man. Oh my god. >> You have an ID on you anywhere? >> Yes, >> I have a [ __ ] ID. >> Hey, stand still. Face the car. >> Wallet. >> Face the car, man. >> Man, you guys got me so [ __ ] up right now. >> Tried to tell you the route we were going down, man. >> Yeah. All because I want to travel freely >> in custody. There's some things that I'd like to cover if we just go back in this stop. Initially, I mentioned that the officer was elongating this and having this conversation because he was just waiting for everyone else to show up and he was making it cordial and keeping it deescalated. But we go back here and if we look at where the officer is positioned during this conversation, just side on to side on like that, you are giving this individual a clear opportunity to engage you with gunfire and your torso, head, and everything else is right in the line of fire. In my opinion, it is a much better practice to stand behind that door jam so that the driver has to turn their body if they want to try to engage you. You can see that the sergeant when he arrives where he stands behind the door jam, which is a normal position for a misdemeanor car stop. The other challenge I see this crossfire potential situation when you have the officers like this if it goes to gunfire. We've seen these situations happen before and now we have the suspect in the middle and we have officers on either side right in the line of fire where again if we're behind the door jam on both sides the engagement is different and the crossfire doesn't exist. The other thing that I'd like to mention officers doing a countdown to when they're going to breach the window. We see the countdown and then the breach. So essentially, we're letting the suspect know exactly we're going to breach. And some people say we want to let them know because we're giving them every opportunity. You're also giving an opportunity to formulate a plan that they might want to be the aggressor in the situation and you're counting with a flashlight or a breaching tool in your hand as opposed to being ready on gun. And I know there might have been someone on lethal and someone else on lowlethal. In my opinion, why let them know when you're going to breach? You've given them all the warnings in the world. This officer was super Mr. negotiator nice him for over 15 or 20 minutes. Once we say we're going to breach, we should be the ones that know that we're going to breach and then just do it because the element of surprise should be on our side. They got him in custody. There was no hesitation once they did what they had to do. This is merely constructive criticism to share during something like a debriefing so maybe it could be a little bit safer going forward. >> Oh my god, man. This is so crazy to me. >> Not at all, dude. I haven't done nothing wrong. >> All right, man. Let's get you to a car. >> What about my wallet, man? We'll we'll get it all taken care of in a in a bag for you. Would you like your phone as well? >> Yeah. Yeah, I like everything. >> Okay, cool. >> I can't believe you guys just broke out my window, though. Why would >> We told you, man. We told you. >> It gets really interesting once the officer gets him inside the car and we find out this man's history. It'll make a lot of sense to you as to why he behaved the way he did. >> Why would you break out my window? >> I was trying to work with you, man. Have a seat, bro. >> Dude, I'm a private traveler, dude. >> Have a seat, man. >> You guys took a [ __ ] altitude of Constitution. You just [ __ ] trying to apply [ __ ] codes and statutes. >> Like you guys don't even know what the oath you took an oath to. >> Okay. >> You guys got me. All I'm doing is trying to travel privately. >> All right. >> Just give us a second. >> Yeah. >> Why are you guys in my wallet? >> Getting your ID, brother. >> And it's a state citizen passport. See >> right here. Unless I've committed a crime where I've actually harmed anybody, you have no authority over me. >> Okay, I'll be with you. >> That's how you guys think this is all [ __ ] fun and games and [ __ ] It's not. It's not. >> He's He's a private traveler, dude. See the license plate? >> Exactly. Unless I've committed a crime where I've actually harmed somebody, >> you have no authority over me. >> Look, man, you're suspended. That's fine. citizen >> and you have to have >> I don't have to have [ __ ] I'm a [ __ ] state [ __ ] citizen. I don't need to I canled my [ __ ] registration. I [ __ ] surrendered my driver's license. I don't have a contract with the state, >> right? >> Therefore, I don't have to surrender to your uh rules. Therefore, I am good to do whatever the [ __ ] I want. I can travel privately and I've done nothing wrong. And it says right there, not for commerce verbal domestic. >> So, you saw the officer running his computer, the suspect's information, and he says, you're suspended. So, meaning the guy's license is suspended. And then it also says that he was required to have an interlock system installed in his vehicle which is usually for a person who has a DUI charge or driving under the influence charge and they have to blow into it in order to get the car started. So a lot of times people engage in the sovereign ideology because they want to try to get around the violations that they committed before get around the fact that he has a suspended license and has to use this interlock system. I don't know for sure that that's the case, but I heard the officer say that and one could reasonably deduce that this guy is trying to circumvent the whole legal system because he doesn't want to pay the consequences for his previous actions. >> Done nothing wrong. >> Well, your driver's license is suspended. >> Driver's license. I surrendered it. >> That's not when you surrender it and you cancel the contract. >> It don't matter whatever happens after that. I'm telling you right now, dude. I can't wait to [ __ ] go to [ __ ] court with you, dude. I already got a light. I already got a [ __ ] suit going right now, dude. You're [ __ ] violating my constitutional rights. I'm not a driver. A driver is somebody employed on the roadways for hire. >> What do you What do you call the thing that you hold on to in the front of the car that looks like a circle? >> No, you're not going to find it. >> Is it a traveling wheel? >> I am private. >> Where are your Where are your shipping papers? >> I'm 100% private. Where are your shipping papers? >> You have no authority over me. >> If you are a private uh traveler, you're required to have shipping papers. >> You have no authority over me, buddy. I've done nothing wrong. >> Well, your car is going to travel to the toward. So, >> yeah, I'm sure it is. >> You may not have a contract with the state, but you can enter into one with Jean Towing. >> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Thanks a lot, buddy. >> 4661020. That is the RCW that requires you to give me your stuff. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. >> Constitution. What have I done wrong? I cannot wait to sue the [ __ ] [ __ ] >> I got you. >> Why you guys got to be like this? >> I tried to work with you. >> All because I want to [ __ ] travel privately. This >> I tried. I tried to work with you. >> This is what I [ __ ] done. >> I tried to work with you. >> No, you didn't try to work with me at all. >> You guys are presuming that I'm a driver. I'm not. >> Well, >> I'm not a driver. >> That's what state law says. I mean >> state that you know that's a code in a statute. >> Okay. All right. Well, >> that's not the constitution, >> right? So, I'm going to read you your rights really quickly. Okay. >> Yeah. I know my [ __ ] right. >> Just a reminder, I reckon. >> You understand each of the rights I explained to you? Well, you know what's funny, man? >> What's funny? >> The passenger that you had in the car, >> that [ __ ] [ __ ] let her go. >> Well, that's what I'm saying. Well, what I think is funny is that she knew she at first was trying to be on same page with you and then she realized where we were going. >> No, but she don't know the real deal. >> She don't know the truth. >> I hear you. All right, man. >> Yeah. >> Yeah, man. He's got a whole situation set up, man. >> You see that up there? >> All types of angles. >> All types of angles. That's nice. >> Yeah. He had a passenger in the car. >> Oh, yeah. >> And at first she was like recording me and she was fully on board. She was like, you have no right to stop blah blah blah. Like trying to even jump over him. And then eventually I was she was like she did the math surprisingly. She was like I saw you were on your radio like is there like more people coming? Like is he going to go to jail? And I was like eventually. And she was like can I just leave? I was like yeah like where she doing everything right? You want to leave? You can. She was like she opened the door. She was like so like you think he's going to go to jail? And I was like eventually yeah. She was like okay well I'm just going to get out. And she just walked off her. >> Yeah. And like I was telling him, she was fully on board with him. Like even stepping over him, man, trying to tell me I was wrong until she did the math, which I thought was impressive. >> I've seen how these videos are. >> Yeah. >> When I look back at this, we heard the officer mention the charges for the suspended. He initially pulled him over for the traffic violation with no plate. It sounded like he had booze on board the more that I listened to him talk, but again, I didn't hear them move forward with that charge. But there's something else that's interesting that I like to mention is that you see this sovereign ideology with two different people in the car and one person folded pretty quickly. The other person bought into it quite a bit more because there's people on the internet still continuing to sell this stuff to people and some people are gullible enough to buy it. If you're watching someone on the internet or interacting with someone that's trying to sell you the sovereign ideology, ask them this question. Do they have a valid driver license in the state? Number two, ask them to show you a video of them being pulled over and trying this and them winning because they can't and they won't. and you can shut them down and save your money from buying one of these state national IDs. If you like this kind of content, like the video, send it to a friend, subscribe to the channel, and there is an archive of over 100 videos of learning about police tactics, especially on car stops.
