I swear to God, I'm going to touch me in my read. On January 22nd, 2025, local authorities received a call from Target employees who were concerned about a woman shopping with her young daughter and appearing [music] unwell. Staff responded promptly and approached the mother in a calm and respectful manner. >> Hey, how you doing, ma'am? >> Good. How are you? >> I'm not too bad. Hey, I'm going to be honest. Uh the employees here, >> who >> the employees here, they're they called me for they're concerned for you. >> Who is >> the employees? >> General, >> huh? >> This general. So they they think you might be under the influence of something or intoxicated. Is that the case? >> Oh, no. >> And why would you ask? Cuz I was just at the pharmacy. They're backed up in their line. My prescriptions are in my cart. Thank you for asking. >> No idea. I'm I'm not too bad. How are you, ma'am? >> If you don't mind me asking, can we step outside and have this discussion? >> I'm bringing Ro with me. My daughter. >> Is that your daughter? That's perfectly fine. Yeah. >> Having a girl's day. >> Well, I just want to have >> I got you. Well, let's talk outside and we'll let you go back to shopping. Okay. Where's your daughter at? She's probably looking at this. Let's go. >> How'd you get here today? >> I drove. >> You drove? Okay. >> I didn't drive over anyone's mailbox. >> I know. I understand. I'm just curious. Which one's your vehicle? >> My vehicle. >> Huh? >> You know which vehicle is mine? >> I have no idea, ma'am. This is the first time I've ever spoken to you. >> You don't know who I am. >> I have no idea, ma'am. >> I don't want to do this in front of your daughter. That's why I want to speak to you like >> talk to you like this, right? I'm not here to talk to me in front of my daughter. Well, I'm not here to air out your business, right? >> I'm going to turn the radio down, but I need you to sit in the car. >> Well, if we do that, I'm going to need you to take the keys out cuz right now I'm seeing a blunt right there. Okay. >> You buy those from every single gas station. That's illegal. >> Okay. Well, I'm going to From my personal experience, that looks like a blunt. Okay. I'm not here to give you a hard time. Okay. I'm just trying to figure out what's going on, but I'm going to need you to turn the ignition off. >> As they accompanied the mother toward her vehicle, several safety concerns became apparent, particularly with a [music] child present. Along with the mother's reluctance to engage in efforts to leave, the situation became more serious. >> At least turn it down. What's your name? >> Yeah, go ahead. >> What's your name? >> Raquel. >> Raquel. What's your last name? >> Jennings. >> Okay. Do you have a or do you have a license? >> Yeah, I do. >> Okay. Do you mind if I take a look at that? >> Uh, if I knew where my purse was. >> If your purse is not one of those. >> If my phone wasn't dead, I could show you my license. >> Okay. What's your date of birth? >> If you're recording me, then you're just trying to make me say some weirdo. >> I'm not, ma'am. But but as of right now, it it seems like you might be under the influence of something or or maybe having some having some sort of medical issue. >> Oh, do you have a medical issue? >> I don't. >> Neither do I. >> Okay. So, how what you said you so you drove here today? Okay. Where do you >> Yeah, I drove here just like everybody else. >> Okay. Where do you live? >> On Mars. >> On Mars? >> Yeah, I live on Mars, dude. >> Okay. >> Don't Don't cap with me. Don't act like you don't know who the I am. Like I >> I don't This is the first time I've ever talked with you, ma'am. >> So, you didn't take anything today? Haven't been drinking. >> Oh, my prescriptions. Yeah, my prescriptions. I take all of my medicine. Okay. >> What What prescriptions do you take? >> Uh, go ask CVS and Target. >> Well, obviously they're not going to give me that information. >> Okay. Well, then get the out of my face. >> There's no need to be unpleasant with >> I'm going to go ahead and leave. >> If you leave, I'm going to pull you over cuz right now I think you are under the influence of something. Right now, we can do this. I can rip you out of this car and put you in handcuffs. And I do not want to do that in front of your daughter. >> Put the car back in park. >> Put the car back in park. Oh, you put it in I'm putting >> Put the car back in park >> for what? >> Put the car from me. >> Put the car in park. >> That's who? >> I'm telling you right now, ma'am. I am giving you a lawful order. >> From who? >> From me. Right now, I I will rip you out of this car. Ma'am, do not test me. >> What? You're going to me? >> Never said that. >> My daughter. >> Listen. I'm trying to be as pleasant with you as I can. But right now, I think you're under the influence of something. >> My So, here's the thing. If you talk with me, this can go a completely different route than it's about to go. Do you understand that? Put the car in park. You >> put the car in park. >> I'll put it in park. >> Step out of the vehicle. >> No. >> Step out of the vehicle. >> For what? >> Step out of the vehicle. >> Step out of the vehicle or I will remove you from the vehicle. >> For what? >> Step out of the vehicle before I remove you in the vehicle. We got to No, she's going to sit in the car. >> The child's going to remain in the car. >> Step out. Step out. I'm not going to ask you again. >> For what reason, though? >> Because you're obviously smoking. There's a kid. >> Is illegal? >> It's illegal to drive under the influence of >> No, it's not. >> All right, step out. Step out. I will I will remove you. >> Okay. Come on. Step out of the vehicle. >> Nice girl way. Okay. Super nice girl. Cuz you guys don't want You guys don't want to >> face him. Face him. Put your hands behind your back. You're gonna be detained. >> Here we go. >> Grab me up by Christmas morning. Grab me up by Christmas morning. Exactly. >> You want to see the house? Do this to me once. >> I don't know. Hopefully you guys live on Mars, too. I hope to god you live on Mars. If you don't, I got you for this cuz he didn't even introduce himself. Back up. Back up. >> You're just being detained. Back up so I don't close the door on you. >> Well, I'm not trying to grab your >> That's not what we're doing. >> Not really. And now you just my >> Yeah, you just touched my >> Just lean lean towards your car. Lean towards your car. Lean towards your car. >> You don't have to sit on it, but just lean towards it. >> Don't ever touch me in my chin again. I swear to God. >> I'm going to I'm going to read. >> Touch me in my >> I'm going to read you a couple. You're going to listen to me. >> So, right now, you have the right to remain silent. Okay. >> Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law. Do you understand your rights as I have explained to you? And having these rights in mind, are you willing to answer any questions? >> Nope. >> Okay. So, I'm going to ask you a question that's not going to be pertained to this case cuz right now you're under arrest for intoxication in public. >> What? >> And child endangerment. Do you have somebody that can come pick up your vehicle or your daughter? >> Preferably both. >> But more more importantly, your daughter need to pick up your daughter. >> Do you have a family member that you can contact? >> Yeah, my phones are dead. >> Do you have a phone number? Yeah, I have plenty of phone numbers. Who's do you want? >> Anybody that can come pick up your daughter. >> Donald Trump. >> Tell Donald Trump to pick up his daughter. >> Okay, please. >> Perfect. So, here's the deal. If you're not going to work with us, we're going to have Child Protective Services come pick up your daughter. >> That I have my home girl. She's my case manager. J Cole Woods, pick him up. >> Yeah, you you can call you can call Vic, my husband, or my mom, and they'd be happy to come pick her up. >> Okay. What's their phone number? We need the phone. >> Well, you need to pull out your phone. Where's your phone? Yeah. Where's your phone? >> Do you know the phone number off the top of your head? >> Yeah. Call 540. >> Hang over here. >> You said to sit against You're walking away from me. >> I am sitting here to take a freaking break. >> I'm going to go pull my car around and pull up laser beam. >> Do you want to have a seat in my car to get you out of the cold? >> No, I'm I'm doing just great here. >> Okay. Well, regardless, you're going to go in back of my cruiser at some point. >> I know. Just as soon as comes. Like, I'm not going to sit in her car and like leave her like that. That's not right. When comes and picks her up, then we'll go together. Well, he's going to hang out here with your daughter while I take you to jail. >> No, he's not here. Okay, you have to bring a female cop. >> Yeah, you would. Oh, right. You're telling me that you're going to have a man that doesn't. >> So, come here. Come here. Come here. We're going in the back of my car. >> Craig on camera. >> It does. >> No. He doesn't even know that dude. And neither of you guys even introduced yourselves. You didn't even say hi. How are you? >> I did. That's the first words that came out of my mouth. Actually, have a seat in there. >> If you guys had brought the other dude, it would have been way better. >> Who's the other dude? >> It's Toy Story. Have a seat. >> If you had just saved you a minute. Thank you. Yep. >> And just can you move my hair out of my face? >> Thanks, Dad. >> Yep. >> Thanks. >> At this point, [music] attention shifted away from the mother to a more immediate priority, ensuring the child had proper care [music] and a stable, safe arrangement. >> There's a number attached. >> Yeah, I was going to call. I still need to get her name. >> Is your dad's name Vic? >> No, my dad. >> Her dad? >> My dad? Oh, is it is it your mom's dad? >> Is that is that your mom? >> Yeah. >> Yeah. >> What's her name? >> Hey, who is the registered owner of that vehicle? The the number you guys dropped in the notes. >> Jason Hoskins. >> Jason Hoskins. Okay. Yeah. Rachel. Okay. Can you can you pass me to Jason, please? This message is for Jason Hoskins. Um, if you could call us back immediately. Um, we have an arising emergency right now. >> Are you cold? You're cold. Do you want this blanket? >> Is your name Rachel Adcock? Hey, who is who's Jason Hoskins? >> That's my husband. >> That's your husband. Is that Is that Rowan's dad? >> Yeah, they're all his dad. >> Okay. Where's Where's he at? >> I'm his dad. But you know what I'm s Queen Africa. >> What's her name? >> Queen Kenya. >> What's her name? Uh we are trying to make arrangements to pick up your daughter's daughter, Rowan. Um if you can give me a call back at either this number or 540. >> It's a disposal packaging system. >> And you said Jason's there right now? >> Yeah, he should be there. Um, and you can't kick our door in. Just >> That's not what we're trying to do. We're trying so >> we're trying to make arrangements to come someone to come get your daughter. Okay. >> If you go to Lowe's, you can get the It's only $32.99. You can get those and they're pretty good. It's And you should shop there. >> Okay. All right. >> Yeah. Shop there now for the for the lock. Nobody can kick your door with those. So, if you just get like three or four of those, that would probably protect you from that door. Now, I'm not promising the windows because the windows are easily accessible. So, tread lightly. >> All right. When you get a chance, could you get her name and date of birth? She's not making a whole lot of sense, so I'm not going to be able to get any information from her. >> The mother was charged with contributing to the delinquency [music] and abuse of a child. Under Northern Virginia law, she may face a sentence of 2 to 6 years in prison and a fine of up to $5,000. Despite the disruption of an unfinished [music] day, the story ultimately reminds us of adult responsibility and the role of the community in [music] supporting and protecting children with clarity, calmness, and compassion. This is a child's unspoken message conveyed through a piece of paper. A quiet attempt to seek support when trust in others has faded. >> She held scissors to my throat. Scissors underlined to my throat. She leftes on my neck along with from her nails. >> On March 15th, 2024, a young girl left her home feeling unsafe, [music] having lost confidence in the adults around her. Authorities made contact and noted her fragile condition and strong emotional reactions when her family was mentioned. These signs suggested this was not a brief absence, but a serious situation involving a child's well-being. >> Don't run or I'll chase you and put you in handcuffs. I know you don't. Let's go talk about it. But until you're in my car, we're not talking. Stand up. >> Stand up. >> Yes. Are you going to listen? >> Yes. >> I don't want to yell at you. I want to be nice to you, but I'm not going to chase you. Like, I'll tackle you before you have time to run. Do you understand? >> Yes. >> Okay. I don't want to do all that. I want to help you and figure out why you ran away and all that. But >> can we talk about it at the police station? We can talk about it in my car first. Do you need it? Is this any of your stuff? >> Okay, let's go to my car. >> I have located her. >> Clear. I'm located her. I will call and cancel. >> Clear. I'm just going to go around this building. Start. Why? What's going on? Why'd you run away? >> I don't want to be there. >> Why not? >> She's She's scared. >> She's scary. Who? >> The one who takes care of us. >> What's her name? Is that your mom? >> Yeah. >> What What's scary about her? >> I'm scared to get in trouble because she goes to the extreme. She goes very far when she gets in trouble. >> Like what? What happens when you get in trouble? >> She lock Sometimes she locks us in a closet. >> Locked you in a closet. For how long? >> The longest I've been there has been like 4 days. >> 4 days. When's When did that happen? most recently. >> Uh, it was last year. It was around Easter. >> And what did you get in trouble for that made that happen? >> I was sneaking my sister's food. >> You were making them food? >> I was sneaking my sister's food that she gets from school. >> Why'd you get in trouble for that? >> Because I'm not supposed to >> make food. >> No. Now my sister, she brings my little sister, she brings some she was bringing like snack snacks from school. >> Yeah. >> And I was having her keep it in the bedroom so I could have some. And so when she figured out, she used me and locked me in a closet for 4 days. >> She what the child shared led officials to visit the home where they spoke with the primary caregiver who was described herself as a devoted mother. >> This year I threw a Halloween party for the kids. It was really cool. I bought a bunch of Halloween Halloween Halloween decor and I bought a projector, a huge 84 in projector cuz I bought a um the screen, but I had bought a projector Black [snorts] Friday the year before. I hadn't used it yet. So, so I put we I did like cool stuff, decorated cupcakes, cool candies, set that up for them. Happiest kids ever. They're like best mom ever and they loved it. They went to school talking about and everything. It was pretty It was a lot of fun. I wanted to do the projector out here, but I was like, I don't know if that's okay to do. She continued to deny the concerns her daughter had expressed, including the contents of a letter found in a closet, a place where the child had quietly kept her hope of being understood. >> Have you ever locked your kids in the closet? >> No. >> Why would they tell me they've been locked in the closet? >> All of my kids said that. >> More than once? >> No. I've never locked any of my kids in the closet. >> Okay. >> I found this letter and I'm sure you've read it. It was in your closet. Yes. Tell me about these letters. >> Sure, absolutely. >> I mean, why why is she saying all this horrible stuff is happening to her if >> she does that? It's how she vents, >> right? I mean, she's Is it the truth? >> I mean, those are old. I wouldn't know. Like, she >> she's talking about being beat up. She's talking about having scissors to her throat. Talking about pulling you off of her and you telling her you would have killed her. >> That's when we had an altercation, >> right? >> We had an altercation >> with scissors. >> No, there was no scissors. She was coming at me. >> Okay. >> But we can't pull it off because she was holding my hair, >> right? Yeah, that did happen. That did happen. Yes. >> How do you discipline these kids? I mean, I know we talked about it earlier. Do you them? >> Do you hit them? >> No. >> Ever? >> No. I've had altercations before, been more than one. There's a time she ripped my necklace off of me. >> Okay. And I held her. Tamron's kick and punch. Yeah. >> I had to hold her down. >> Okay. >> Okay. Um, other than that, no. >> Typically, what does dinner look like here? >> Um, I don't cook every single night, but dinner the kids do either. Most of the time the little ones like pizza, hot pockets, chicken nuggets, have peanut butter and jelly. Um, the big girls, >> you want a flashlight? >> Like I just did beans >> if you need it. I don't >> I just did beans the other day to eat at school, but the the big ones I am too. I'm getting up late and I ain't getting the time to work and everything. They do. I make sure they get me. Do not period. >> Tell me about this. >> This one right here. I did take away the drinks um from her cuz she was sneaking them. She writes stuff like this all the time, sir. You can talk to her about this. >> She does this all the time. She'll tell you. >> So, why'd you keep this one like it's important? I didn't keep because >> it was in your closet. >> I mean, I kept with all your important papers. >> I kept all of these to show her and remind her, but I haven't got these out in forever. Sir, I'm being honest. Like, >> I don't think you are. >> I'm scared. >> Well, probably cuz you've been using your kids. >> No. >> Look how skinny they are. You told me you feed those kids. >> I do. >> Enough. >> I would say enough. They like to eat noodles. How What kid can get fat off of noodles? >> My kids. I feed my kids noodles all the time. They're fatter hell. At least not skin and bones like this. >> Noodles and crackers with it >> and spaghetti and meatballs and hot pockets and pizza and hot dogs and all kinds of nutritious things. Those kids are malnutrition. >> Well, I give them canned uh vegetables. Does that count? >> That's healthy. Yeah, >> I know. But here I am and they don't have bedrooms and they had cereal for dinner. >> Well, that's what they wanted. They got the choice, the option. They had the choice of that. That's what they wanted. It's always what they want. What do you want? I'm not cooking tonight. If they want cereal, they get cereal. If they want a bologoney and cheese sandwich, sir, they get it. Ask all of them. That was their option tonight. I'm not sure what she wanted. I said, "What do you want? There's beans that from last night that I could." >> As the letter was read aloud, the mother acknowledged that the children did not receive routine health checkups, but stated they were adequately fed, attributing their slim appearance to health rellated explanations. This underscored that caregiving must be guided by accountability, not assumptions. >> She was just saying, "Who's going to get to eat the beans now? She loves my cooking. My kids love my cook." Dear God, I think she's going to kill me. I didn't do anything. You and I both know that I have been talking to you, praying, and trying to be polite, helpful, and respectful. I've been shutting out all the bad thoughts, but it's no use. But I I won't let their negativity and discouragement stop me. This is my year for as long as I'm alive. I'm going to change, but I won't let anyone stop me. I want to change. But if she kills me, I know that I was making changes to make me better. I'm going to be kind and respectful still. She held scissors to my throat. Scissors underlined to my throat. She left on my neck along with from her nails. She the inside of my lip and now one of my front teeth is moving slightly. My nose is clogged with and my ear is bright red with plenty of scratches on it. And it hurts so bad. I can't lay on that side of my head. You know, I could get her in trouble for that. and the fact that she said, "I'm going to her with at least two people besides me that can verify that." Then she whispered to me, "If Katrina didn't stop me, I would have choked you till you passed out. And I'm the sick, twisted one, but no, I'm going to stay here just to prove what I can change." >> Tina, combine that with the fact that these kids have run away seven times from you. >> How is any reasonable person supposed to think you're not starving and using these kids? Okay. Mental abuse, I would say yes. Physical, no. Has there been altercations? Yes. Starving, like you said, I feed them, but it's not the food that kids get. >> No, I I quoted the noodles you that that you said. You said noodles. I said noodles. Okay. We're not >> If they're starving, then why do I have >> If you're If you're feeding them, why are they skinny? >> Have you talked to Have you talked to them about that? What did they say? >> That's not what we're talking about. I'm asking you questions right now. If you're feeding them, why are they skinny? >> Did you >> Are you eating? Is your husband eating? >> Those boys are eating. At least it looks like it. I haven't looked at them real close, but those two older girls. You can't look at me and tell me they're eating enough. Tell me they're eating enough. >> There's a time we thought they had parasites. I even bought them parasite medicine. It's around here somewhere. >> Did they go to the doctor? >> No. >> When's the last time they've been to a physician? >> Because it's been a while. >> How long is a while? >> See, I think the last time for was to get a shot >> in the dentist to get her retainer taken out. So maybe two or three years ago. >> They haven't been to a physician in two or three years. Look how skinny they are. You thought they had parasites and you didn't take them to the doctor. >> She told I've had parasites. >> You should go to the doctor if you have parasites. You should take your children to the doctor if they're skin and bones. Tina, >> you're right. You're right. You're right. >> So why haven't you Why aren't you feeding your kids? >> Why haven't I taken them to the doctor? I have no excuse. >> Okay. Why aren't you feeding your kids enough? >> Okay, you feed them. Why aren't you feeding them enough? What is enough? Because like I explained earlier, >> as conversations continued, the mother's statements increasingly differed from what officials observed and from earlier information provided. >> Are you feeding those kids enough? >> Enough. Okay. Can I ask you a question? Yes. >> What would be enough? Is three times a day enough? Two two to three times a day. So, >> cuz sometimes, like I said, in the morning, the girls will just have a glass of milk, but they have lunch and they have dinner. They never skip that. Never. We're circling right back around to if they're not skipping meals and if they're getting fed enough, I wouldn't be able to see their bones through their skin like that. >> Yeah. So, like I should take them to the doctor. >> Absolutely. I think you should have taken them to the doctor. You know, especially if if they're skinny because there's something wrong with them. You know, >> if they're skinny because there's something wrong with them, they need to go to the doctor. If they're skinny because you're not feeding them, you need to go to prison. Right. >> Right. >> But you haven't fed them enough either. >> Okay. >> Look at them. It breaks my heart when I found that girl and she stood up. Tina, I don't know how you stay here with her like that. She's tiny. >> She covers herself. She's always covering herself. >> But that doesn't mean it's not there. >> I know, but she covers herself. She does. I've been trying to get her to to to do more, drink more, eat more, and everything. Give her Gatorade. Said, "Maybe you need some electrolytes." I did. Started buying more oranges and apples, nutrients, bought more canned food. Hey, you need to eat some vegetables. I have. And then you keep it all locked up and you don't let them have snacks until you get home. >> Well, I'm always home >> now. >> Yeah, but I let them always choose. What do you want to eat? It's their choice. They choose. >> Tina, please. You I really am not trying to be mean to you. >> You're doing your job. >> Whenever you say things, whenever you say things to me like, "I let them eat. I let them choose. I let them this." Like, all I can think about is looking at how skinny they are. So, like, they're not And they haven't gone to the doctor. And there's locks on everything in this house. And I don't I can't even count the cameras. I haven't started to like these kids protection at first. >> Well, I get I started putting them in certain places because we had a >> and I get, you know, having them so the kids don't run away. But now, but now that I've been here, I kind of understand why the kids are running away. >> I don't blame them. >> I'd be running away, too. >> Mhm. >> Like, I just want to eat. >> Mhm. >> Like, >> when I've asked them why they ran away, it was never had to do anything with that. >> Tina, they're not going to tell you cuz you're starving them. Food storage was explained as being restricted to manage portions. However, this raised concerns about the overall living environment and how it [music] may have affected the children's emotional and physical development. >> Why is all the food locked up? >> To keep them from sneaking it, stealing it, things like that. >> Why the freezer, you notice, isn't locked up. They don't usually get in the freezer, mess with that stuff. But the stuff that they can grab quick, >> let me ask you a question. >> That's why. What is wrong with letting them, you know, I understand keeping some control over it cuz I've got four kids. I have to do that myself, you know, but I do that through through parenting, >> not putting locks on everything. I understand that these are some dev Hang on, hang on. Let me finish. Wait, wait. Just let me finish my thought, please. Absolutely. I understand you got some devious kids causing problems. You got to take that extra step. I get it. But like they're cameras, locks, they're running away constantly. They're writing letters, but like because they're out of options, they don't know what else to do anymore. like they're expressing their feelings on paper because they've got no one to talk to because they don't go to school and they don't go to counseling and they don't go to the doctor and all they do is sit around here and get starved. And what am I supposed to tell anybody that asked me why you shouldn't go to prison? >> What do I tell somebody, Dina? Because I just didn't feel like taking them to the doctor. >> No. >> You've got 60 $80,000 cars in the garage, but you can't afford enough food, so you lock it out. Let's reconvene tomorrow cuz I'm getting frustrated and that's unprofessional and and I apologize for that. >> Actually, what? You're doing your job. >> Thank you. >> You're doing your job. Thank you, Tina. You're absolutely welcome. >> You said my sister was on her way. >> J sister's gone. Yes, >> ma'am. I'm sorry. >> Okay, we're not going to leave. We're just going to quit this interview so I can calm down. Um, >> I appreciate you speaking with me. >> No, I appreciate you. You have I'm going to let you know you have been very nice throughout this whole process. Something like this can be very uncomfortable. All of it from the beginning. And since you walked in my door, you have made this process comfortable. I'm glad >> you're doing your job. >> Okay, that's your job. Serve and protect, right? >> Mhm. >> I can't be mad at that. Her job, same thing. >> Serve and protect, right? >> Mhm. >> I I understand. I do. It looks bad. It does. >> It's cuz it is bad, Tina. It doesn't look bad. It is bad. The police are here doing a search warrant and DHS is taking your kids. >> I know. >> It's bad. >> And that's that's one. I'll tell you something. Those two older ones have been taken from DHS. I know. And >> not only from their bio parents, but a foster care >> and they're terrified. >> Foster, they've been taken out of foster care before because that foster home got investigated. And then the third home that they didn't want them, so they felt not wanted. >> And now the fourth home. How do they feel here? >> I hate that. >> And so, so these kids have run away over and over again. It's wild. And I didn't think we would have this conversation cuz it's not normal for us to have this conversation, but it's crazy. These kids want to run away, but they're also scared of me to take them away. They don't want to be here, but they're scared to end up with some worse foster family. >> They've told me the reason they don't want to be here, cuz they're tired of hurting everybody. They're tired of >> How are they hitting you? Eating too much? >> No, just putting me through the things that they have put me through. >> Where did they put you through? >> Like, I told you she my car. She got mad. She got angry. >> She's a child. >> As officials prepared to move forward with next steps, the situation became more complicated following information about a past disciplinary method used in the home. Oh, I guess I do need to ask you a couple more questions. >> Yes. >> Several of your kids confirmed that you have teased one of these kids with that. >> No, as I was telling her earlier, we do that and we even do it with the dogs. So, physically, no, I'm not. >> Like, how close have you put it to the kid? >> One time I got real close on accident cuz we were playing around. But as far as No. >> Okay. In thez game, like how close are you? >> Oh, not that close. >> I know. But you're not telling me a distance like >> with inches. It's like 6 in is what you just showed. >> Yeah, we pop it just like Oh, it's like Did you find it? >> I did. >> Yeah, it's little. It don't hit them. >> Though cautious in her responses, the mother acknowledged that a child had been impacted. This led to a decision to conduct further [music] assessment and proceed with formal actions involving both parents. It works. It work. I guess it's coming with me. Do >> you need me to open the pantry? Fingerprinted? >> Oh, no. Trust me. Do >> you need me to open the >> Okay. You and Anthony are coming with me and we're going to jail today. >> We're going to jail. >> Yep. >> Okay. >> So, I'm just being straight with you. I don't want to argue and fight and all that, but that's what that's what's going on this morning. Get some shoes on, what you need to do, and then we're going to head out. >> Okay. I'll get dressed. >> Okay. I'm I'm not going to stay out here, though. I'm going to come in just so I make sure you >> That's okay. That's okay. >> Hey, how are you? >> I'm okay. I'm glad you're here. At some point, you and I need to sit down and and talk about this environment and and your involvement in all of this. Your name has come up several times in my investigation. Um, but you and I haven't had an opportunity to sit down and talk. Um, you and I as well are going to have to sit down and talk. Uh, you're coming with me this morning, so go ahead and set your stuff down. You already got shoes on and everything. All right. Put your stuff down right there. >> Turn around. Put your hands behind your back. >> Do I just uh >> You just go to jail. That's all. >> I'm not Hold that for me. >> Yeah. You just stand right there and be helpful. >> That back door won't hold that dog. >> Okay, I know. I'll put him in his cage. >> No. Oh. Oh. Out. Smokey. >> Smokey the husky. >> You're going to go get out. >> I was just making sure he had shoes on. You got shoes on? All right. >> Yeah. Um, side bags don't hold all that helpful. >> She can take care of that, right? >> Okay. >> Let's go with him to his car. >> I mean, can she give me water? Cuz my mouth is really dry and I'm just waking up. Can she get >> You can get a drink of water. Yeah, >> give me a water. My purse is right there. Okay. >> I don't think your hands are going to be back here. I'm going to get them in front of you, though. >> Yeah. And can I take this or give it to her? >> That's you can give it to her or whatever you want to take. Okay. You carry this with me >> if you want me to. Or you can carry it right there. >> It's okay, baby. >> It's okay. >> Let me lock those so that you know they don't get tight. Let me put your hands down. >> Separate them real quick. I can't see in there. >> We to turn that off with the hand. >> Okay. >> This way. the dogs. Stop. What happens like with the dogs? >> You're going to have to sort that out with one of your family members or something. >> Okay. >> We don't have any animal control here in the city if they got people now. It's really surprising. We'll be in touch. Okay. >> You want to go on the opposite side? >> Yeah. I'm going to see if we can't see you guys back there. >> Take what? Is there room? >> Okay. >> Can we open it? >> Oh, I thought he was going to do it. I'm so sorry. >> I'm okay. >> Yeah. Put yourself in there. I'm sorry about that. >> Oh, >> at the agency, the mother chose not to continue engaging and a separate conversation later took place with a father. >> I can't catch a break. It's like everything is >> I didn't know about this stuff until Friday whenever I got involved with it. Anthony, that's that's the first time I got involved. You know, maybe if you and I had spoke Thursday and you were saying this situation's terrible and we need help, maybe this would look different, but the police got involved and found the conditions the way they were and it's not good, Anthony. Okay. So, [snorts] um, man, I don't I really don't know what to tell you other than uh you should have done something. I think >> the thing I'm thinking of like what what should that have done? what should I have done? Because at the same time I >> well I did I did make sure I told her I was like hey like ask her. >> You knew what you were getting yourself into man. I mean like you should have taken them to the doctor. You should have taken them to somebody a professional. >> I'm not they're adopted. I'm not I'm not on their paper as like >> I know that. But you you got to know the family before you even got married. You got to know the family and made sure that was something you wanted to be a part of. So when you marry a woman with kids, those are your kids, your stepdad. >> She always takes them to the hospital whenever before the start of school. >> That's for the babies, man. Not the big ones. The big ones need to go to the doctor. >> I thought she did that. >> No. And she told me that she thought they had parasites and that she never took them to the doctor even then. I mean, >> so I I don't I don't think I don't think that the defense of you just didn't know is going to fly for this truthfully. >> I don't I don't know what else to say. It's like I can't I can't like lie. I can't lie. >> No, I don't want you to lie. That's the last thing I want you to do. >> Right. It's like what what do I say? >> I wish that there was something that you could tell me that you did to protect the kids. That's what I wish you could tell me. Is there anything you did to protect them? >> I mean, uh thinking about it, uh let me see what I did to protect them. You know, I'm just trying to think hard. Um, and things I did to protect them. I don't know how those times I did I did say because I wanted us to I don't know. I don't know if this is like protecting them. It's like me having to take them to buffets and stuff. I I don't know if that's that's not protecting. That's >> right. Sorry. But um protection talking to them. >> Yeah. >> Um so you said you took them to buffets. You know, you also said Tina primarily took care of them at home. Did you ever prepare meals for the family? >> I [snorts] did. Um I it's African food and >> not really their thing. >> Not really their thing. So it more of the night American hot dogs and >> things like that. But as far as with the African side, they always say it's spicy. So I I'm just say, "Okay, I'll eat it myself." So, >> right, >> he attempted to describe his role in caring for the children, though discussions suggested he had limited involvement in daily family routines. >> And then all I just did was that I I just kind of made rice and just eat the steel that's in the fridge or I buy noodles. There is some noodles that I eat dinner for myself and that's it. Okay. >> You know, you understand what you just explained to me, right? >> Mhm. >> You don't feed the kids. >> Feed the kids. >> You don't feed the kids, right? She You said it's her responsibility. >> But she's not feeding them either is what it looks like. >> She She says she feeds them. And I did tell I asked, >> "Do you see her feed them?" >> Yeah. In front. There was one time one time when I had this argument with her. I watched her. She doubled like the other the time they were eating like a >> What argument were you having with her? is mostly about this kids, man. It's like I was tell like pretty much with the two uh first I was like questioning like why the hell do you have why do you have to all these locks blah blah blah and then she goes well I was because they every single time trying to run away so I'm trying to stop it from happening then then all of a sudden cameras why you have all these cameras like >> is that not you is that her like there's so many cameras that's crazy >> that's so crazy cuz I freaking argument with about it I argued with her I said ain't this camera. This is not normal family. This is some prison or some. >> Yeah, that's what I'm thinking. >> First of all, >> thank you. >> The the cameras I was like, yo, okay, there's so [snorts] much cameras. And she's like, yeah, because I use the cameras to watch them because that way because they kept asking after they finish eating, >> they kept asking like stealing food from the little ones. Whenever the little ones are eating, they go into the kitchen and kind of give the little ones inside eye and then the little ones would just act like they're full. And then the big ones take their food and eat it. >> Because they're hungry, Anthony. >> Because they ate. >> But they're Why? Then why are they Man, >> just like you. I'm confused, man. I'm freaking confused. I'm hungry. >> All right, just listen to me. Let me explain kind of what I'm thinking. >> Because you tell me these kids run away all the time, and that that that might be a behavior thing or not, whatever. But you're also telling me like they're stealing food all the time, right? that just like they're stealing food all the time and their skin and bones like >> they're hungry. Anthony, >> hey, check this out. They went to my aunt my her sister's house. >> Yeah, >> she [snorts] fed them. But tell me why the hell they still stealing the food from their cousin's place. >> Because whenever you came from a good home, so I don't expect you to understand this, but when kids over time don't get enough food, it's kind of like a dog. Like have you ever have you ever had like a a dog or an animal that went too long without food and stuff and they just want eat and you got to kind of stop them because they'll eat too much and they'll throw up and you know it's so whenever an animal or a child or whatever has gone without adequate food, they're going to want to eat everything all the time just as a psychological thing. Like they're used to not getting enough so they always want more. Does that make sense? like any chance they get for food, they're gonna be like, "Oh, I need to grab that because I'm not going to get to eat tomorrow or I'm not going to have enough or I'm still hungry or, you know, I I'm not in those kids' head, but I can imagine kind of how they're thinking." And it makes sense to me from my side why they're stealing food because they're habitually not getting fed enough. They're hungry. >> Do you I mean, does that concept make sense to you? >> I guess. [clears throat] get out of the way. I don't know what's going on. I don't know. I just know that my whole goal for this was to have a good good family. Like turn something that was bad into back to being good. That's all I wanted. >> Have Have you ever hit the kids? >> No. The only time that I hate the kid was because of he got expelled from school and I [clears throat] I was just kind of mad because it's like I didn't hit him so much but at the same time it's just kind of like just kind of like that. >> Ultimately the mother was charged with child abuse, child neglect and assault with a dangerous object while the husband was also implicated for failing to prevent and protect the child from unsafe living conditions. Under Oklahoma law, the mother could face up to 12 years in prison, while the husband may face up to one year in prison and fines ranging from $500 to $5,000. Fortunately, despite enduring a period of significant difficulty, the children encountered people who stepped in at a critical moment, helping guide them away from that environment and toward a safer, more supportive place. This 18-year-old driver stood at the edge of a major life milestone, preparing to become a father and build a family. Yet a single impulsive choice altered his path. >> They were felonies, but I was I was 16 and I got literally 3 weeks and I'm off. >> On September 22nd, 2024, deputies in Flaggler County, Florida, observed a vehicle moving unpredictably. When patrol lights were activated, the car did not immediately stop, increased speed, shifted lanes repeatedly, and briefly used the emergency lane, creating a highly stressful situation witnessed by three minors. What followed occurred after the vehicle came to a stop? >> Everyone, >> put your hands up. Everyone, put your hands up. Hands on the front of the seat in front of you. >> Get out of the car. Get out of the car. Face the vehicle. >> Do not move. I do not care. >> Call my mom, please. >> 13. I have one 28 occupied by four females. >> Call my mom. >> Huh? >> Can Can you take your day so I can talk? I'm sorry. >> Can we line the car? I told you for a second. >> I'll talk to you in a second. I'm waiting for more people to come. >> Well, it's it's going to be very bad. >> Okay. >> I ain't got no warranty or nothing. >> We'll talk. >> So, sorry. >> We'll talk. Just give me a second. All right. >> No, I get serious. >> Huh? Just wait a second. Stop talking. Okay. >> Get up a little bit. I don't want to touch your belt. Is my mom on the phone, Kirsten? No. My can't move. >> I need you to call my mom. Kirsten, >> don't call anyone. Don't go reaching around. >> Sorry. It's just >> We'll talk. >> I don't know. I said we're going to talk. Hey, >> can you roll this window down? Perfect. I love you, Kirsten. I'm sorry. >> Should have never came on this trip. >> How old are you? >> 18. 37. >> 37. How old are you? These three are my children. >> What are your children? Three. Right here. >> These three are your children. I'm going to talk to him tonight with them. >> For some reason, there's a 37y old in the back seat and say a single word about what's going on. How old are you? >> The driver later identified as 18 years old drew attention due to a prior legal background from his teenage years, showing how earlier decisions can continue to influence the president. >> Up talk attorney present all pushed up your request rights. Yes, sir. >> So, you're 19? >> No, 18. >> 18. Okay. >> So, what were you trying to tell me? She the one in the passenger seat. >> Can you stand by them? There's four females in there. >> That's my fiance. I just proposed to her the other night. >> Okay. >> She's pregnant. I just found out. But the thing is, it's a lot. But I'm on probation. >> Okay. >> I'm not supposed to be in this county. >> Okay. >> From Pulk County. We were going through a lot of stuff. We were on the way back from her. I think they call her Mimi or something. Her birthday. >> I swear I was not trying to run from >> Where was her birthday at? >> Jacksonville, I think. How long were you up there for? >> Uh, a couple hours maybe. >> Okay. And what you been for? >> I can't remember. I >> You don't know what you're on for is felony or misdemeanor? >> Uh, they were felonies, but I was I was 16 and I got literally 3 weeks and I'm off. I've been on for two two years. I'm about to get off. It's either 2 years or 5 years in jail. That's where I >> So you saw you saw me right in the median. Yes, sir. Asked me at 106. No, I was we were >> pass me at 106. Yes, sir. >> You saw me pull out of the medium. >> I did not see you pull out. That's why I got over to slow down behind the semi cuz I was hoping you did not come out. >> And then you saw me pull out, >> sir. And I started to freak out. I It went black. >> I'm going to tell you right now, don't me. >> You never slow down. You continued to drive at 106 mph. You saw me pull out. You accelerated. You then passed a semi on the shoulder. You saw my lights turn on, right? >> No. No, sir. I swear. >> You never saw my lights turn on? No, sir. So when you continued past a semi, I act as some emergency lights. People start moving out of the way. I got behind you. You continued to flee at over 110 mph. You then took the exit, but I'm like still on behind you at a high rate of speed. >> I understand all that. I went black. I did not think about anything. >> So what do you see my lights >> on the on this exit right here is when I seen them and I was the first time you saw my lights? >> Yes, sir. I swear. >> So you were cutting up cutting vehicles off on all the roadway. No turn signal at over 110 for no reason. >> I No, I swear to God we were not doing 110. I have not 110 all day. We were doing 106. You are right about that. I did slow down when we were coming up beside you cuz I was like, "Oh my god, Kirsten, I'm on probation. We have been going." No, sir. We were still doing 90. I swear to God. I >> You pass semi on the shoulder. >> I I'm I'm going to jail. I do realize that. I am going to jail. I do realize that. But >> I just She just found out she was pregnant. I was just getting on probation. We're getting a house and I got 5 years on the line. I should have never came here. >> And when are you probation? Sir, >> when do you get off probation? Supposed to get off? in 3 weeks. I just got all my paperwork done, signed everything. I'm supposed to be >> You know what's crazy? If you would have stopped and I would have pulled you over. >> I understand that. >> You might not even gotten a ticket. And if you were getting off for 3 weeks, I probably wouldn't even violate your probation. >> But sir, I realize that she's pregnant. We just got married. We've been going through a lot. >> Who's this lady in the back? This 37year-old. >> It's her mother. >> What were they all saying? >> They were sleeping. >> They were not sleeping. >> Yes. I swear to God, all of them, but the middle one, she is autistic. She was the only one awake. The boy over here on this side on the passenger side, he was sleeping. The mom was sleeping cuz she works nights at the hospital. The birthday was for her 98-year-old grandmama or whatever they call. I understand. >> Whose car is this? >> It's in the the lady in the back, her name's Rachel. I'm pretty sure it's in her name. But Kirsten, the one in the front seat, it was given to her as her first car, I think. >> Okay. To the lady in the back is registered to the grown adult in the back. During these tense moments, the other passengers, including his mother and fiance, were unable to calm the situation or change its direction. >> Can I talk to you, ma'am? Peace out. >> No weapons on you? >> No. >> Okay. Do you have ID with you? >> Yes. >> Okay. Can you explain to me what just happened? >> I was asleep in the back car of the car. >> Okay. >> When I woke up, I asked what was going on. He said, >> "What did you see when you woke up?" >> He was driving fast. I mean, I knew that we were driving fast and he was getting off the exit. >> What he said was what he said was going on. >> That we're getting >> At what point did he say that? >> When we were getting off the >> Okay. >> I told him he had to pull over. >> You told him to pull over? >> Yes, I did. >> What was he saying before he pulled over? >> He was scared. He said, "I'm going to go to jail." >> So, you pull over? So, you told him to pull over? >> No, he was already planning to pull over, I think, when he got off the exit. I don't know, to be honest. >> So, where on the road did you wake up? I don't know. Right before the exit. >> Okay. So, you didn't feel yourself passing on the shoulder, hitting rumble strips, going 110 mph on the shoulder, passing a semi. That didn't wake you up. >> So, I woke up. >> How How old are the other kids in the car? >> 17 and 15. >> Are you aware that he was fleeing from me? >> I was not. >> With your three kids in the car, >> one of which is pregnant. >> Who's the vehicle to >> in my name? >> What's your phone number? >> 50. He's about for me, man. You said you're 18, right? >> Yeah. >> Okay. Over here. What's uh what's your Do you have ID? >> It's in my car. >> Can you grab it for me? >> Yeah. Yeah. I live with him. >> That's where he lives as where you guys coming from right now? >> St. Mary's Jordan. >> Can you explain to me what just happened? He was going fast and he saw the cop and he FREAKED OUT BECAUSE HE'S ALREADY GOTTEN IN TROUBLE before and he doesn't want to go to jail. >> And he freaked out and did what? >> FREAKED OUT AND driving you were coming. >> So you saw me coming as well? That was me at the cop. That was me. So you saw me coming as well? >> I didn't see you. He said you were coming. I didn't see you. >> At what point did he say that I'm coming? We're on the roadway before after he passed the semi. >> What semi? The one when you guys went in the shoulder and passed. >> Pretty sure it's not. I don't I didn't see it. >> Okay. So, what made him actually pull over finally? >> Anywhere. >> Is that what he said or >> Yeah, he knows that. >> Okay. >> Should we have a baby on the way? >> Yeah. Now he's better. But you have no warrants, right? When explanations were no longer effective, the driver was required to take responsibility for actions that placed children and an expectant mother in an unsafe situation. Individuals who require special care in consideration. >> Uh flew reckless driving bops in the back. Is he passing on the shoulder? >> So he passed me at 106. I go to pull out. sees me. >> Yeah. >> Accelerates and I'm like, "Oh, you're speeding or what?" So, I start going and then I'm trying to catch up and then he I see him pass somebody on the shoulder and I switch my lights on. So, I'm like, "All right, I need to catch up now." And then we're coming and then he starts keep going all across the roadway passing cars, cutting them off and I'm like, "All right, he's fleeing." So, I cut my lights off and I call he's fleeing and I start he starts getting off here and then I see him um start pulling over. That's why I turn my lights back on. I guess he realized he wasn't getting away. What if you would have crashed and those three two kids in the back and your unborn baby and your fiance I blacked out. Wasn't thinking. >> That's a poor excuse. >> Anyways, yes, sir. >> You don't black out when you see a cop. >> I freaked out. You can ask her. I was going to go if any. >> You went to the birthday, right? >> Sir, >> you went to the birthday, correct? >> Yes, sir. >> So, why is everyone saying you're coming from Georgia and you're the only one saying Jacksonville? My understanding was it's Jacksonville. >> Dispatch has been up. >> There's a big difference between Jacksonville and St. Mary's, Georgia. It's two different states. >> Yeah. I'm not sure. >> Oh, it's a violation either way, whether it's different county or different state. So, this is a violation either way, whether it's a different county or a different state. >> Are you on juvenile probation? >> Yes, sir. >> Colle with weapon times two. Leaves in an accident with >> those your initial charges. No, my charges. >> Your initial charges. Were those your initial charges? >> I had five, but two got dropped. >> But you were originally a simple question. You're originally charged with aggravated LEO times 2, fleeing elude, cop negligence, and leaving the state of an accident with Right. >> What is LEO? >> Law enforcement officer. >> Did you flee from the police? Is that what it's originally for? >> Yeah. >> Okay. Thank you. All right. All right. So, you're under arrest for fleeing loot again. Plus, um I didn't look at the right statute, but there's two juveniles in the back and put their lives under. So, you're being charged with uh probably without injury and reckless driving. Everything? >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> Uh no, I got to get out of here driving like that for all these people in danger. Ridiculous. Let's put your life in with an unborn child, two kids in the back. So, you see talk to him when he gets out or when he gets out, he'll call you. All right. The driver faced charges including two counts of child abuse without great bodily harm, reckless driving, first offense, [music] fleeing, and eluding law enforcement at high speed, and a felony violation of probation. In your opinion, what would be a fair [music] and constructive outcome for conduct involving this level of risk? Share your thoughts in the comments below. >> And at that time, I heard crying in the hallway. So, I went out there and I asked him what was wrong, and he kept saying, "He did it. He did it." From a [snorts] single cry in a hallway, a teacher's more than 26-year career in education changed within hours. On May 25th, 2024, authorities were called to a school following a report that a teacher may have crossed professional boundaries with a student. The situation began when a student was removed from class while visibly distressed, leading administrators to review security footage and request assistance as part of a formal review involving Mr. Robinson. >> Who are you? This guy here. Oh, okay. Yeah. Where'd you been from? Uh, somebody just dropped me off that song. >> All right. I just want to talk to you real quick about like old school. >> Yeah, cuz I need to talk about that cuz I'm confused. >> Okay. >> I am really confused about this. >> Uh-huh. >> I am. >> Okay. Well, I'll wait for my partner to come talk. >> No problem. >> Yeah. >> It's good enough right here. >> Yeah, you're fine right there. That's fine. >> All right. Yeah. I'm so uh I'm so confused, man. I've been I've been doing that going on 26 plus years. >> Yeah. They said that you were hired there in like 2013 or something like that. No, but know what it was. I was hired in 98. It used to be B County. Our club took over, but then Ludra took over. So, I've been there like 26 years. >> Okay. Um, I'm going to I'm going to read you your rights just cuz like I said, the school called DCF. >> I'm going to jail. >> Well, I didn't say you are. You aren't. >> Oh. >> I'm just saying I have some questions for you about the whole thing. >> Before I ask you any questions, I have to advise you of your rights. >> Okay. All right. All right. >> You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in the court of law. You said you got a phone call today from them. Yes. >> And what exactly did they say? >> Um they said there was an incident with >> um today between him and another teacher. They said that uh the teacher disciplined him. >> Um they caught it on camera, but they couldn't really specify if he did or not. That's what they were telling me at first. But um >> Did they show you the video? >> Yes. And I'm trying to get access to it. >> I'll deal with that. >> She's the director. I'm her supervisor. Nice to >> meet you. We've been dealing with this all day. [laughter] I was going to say I saw it happen like 11 something a.m. >> Oh yeah. When it happened, we took care of it immediately. >> Did the police get called at that time or no? >> No. What we in what we do is internal we call DCF. We already called DCF. We've already called licensing. >> Yeah, we do self-report. >> Sure. Yeah, I figured as much. >> Um he's [snorts] been terminated. >> Okay. >> So, but what happened was was having issues in his classroom. His teacher was initially bringing him to me and Mr. around and said Kate was standing in his doorway and told her he kind of intercepted her bringing him to me. >> Oh, so it's not his teacher. It was a different teacher. >> Yeah, it was a different teacher. And when he did, he said he was going to talk. Well, he took him in the bathroom and brought him back out to his teacher. And at that time, I heard crying in the hallway. So, I went out there and I asked him what was wrong. And he kept saying, "He did it. He did it." So, I told the teacher, I said, "Let me bring him here in my office. Let me calm him down." And I sat um down, you know, put had some calming music on and let him, you know, relax and breathe and he ended up coming down. And so he kept saying, "He did it. He did it." Well, Mr. Jer said she was like, "Yeah, Mr. Robinson said that um he would talk to him." So I was like, "Okay, let me go back and review the camera since the baby keep saying he did it." So when I reviewed the cameras and that's when I seen that Mr. Robson had to go back into the bathroom and I said like this. >> Can I see the video? >> Yes, you can. As information from students and school staff became clearer, the teacher continued to offer explanations aimed at reducing personal responsibility despite what the evidence indicated. Do >> you understand each of these rights I have explained to you? >> Yeah, I understand. >> Having these rights in mind, do you wish to talk to me? >> Yeah, I'll talk to you. >> Okay. So, what exactly? >> What exactly happened yesterday? >> Okay. What happened yesterday is I'm confused cuz they called me in the office and they said uh Mr. Robertson, the lady on the she was on the three-way phone, right? And she was the uh head start director. I'm sending you home for the day because uh you was seen whooping a child Mason in the bathroom. >> Mason. Who's Mason? >> That's what they told me. >> They told me Mesa. That's where I'm confused at. I went in the bathroom. So they the girl brought him down. I went to the bathroom and I told him, "You need to stop doing what you doing. You need to stop. You so hardheaded. You come to school to Ike up and show out. You see the video?" >> I watched the video. Yeah. >> That's all that's all I was doing is how come from Mason Coleman this star director told me that. And then filler uh uh Ashley Ver. Now y'all telling me it's a bagel. She see me every day. She don't know. She just know me by they call me Uncle Pocket. So that's what she know me by. >> She said she had no idea who you were. >> She'll know by by my real name, Mr. Robinson. Now you're telling me >> So you're doesn't know you by your name? >> Well, she just know when she come >> blood related or is this >> No, no, no, no. Yeah, but they been together. Yeah. So, and uh so I go from Mesa and so they had the door closed, right? So I was down like this. You need to stop doing what you do. You don't come to school to show and blah blah blah this all I was doing. >> That's all that was. >> Okay, I'm going to be straight up with you, right? I watched the video. That does not look like what happened. >> But the door you don't they don't see me hitting nobody or doing nothing to nobody. >> That's pretty clear. Yeah, you back your arm and you come forward. >> No, I was doing this but but the door was the door's only it's a half door. It stops half >> but they didn't see me hitting him or nothing. But I don't understand how I go from Mason to >> I don't know about that part of it. I know that after that incident in the bathroom, he left the class and he like was crying in the hallway and then >> he came down the whole crowd. >> Yeah, I know brought him there. >> So, >> yeah. >> Okay. So, you're saying you didn't hit him at all? >> No, I didn't hit him at all. >> So, why would he say that? >> I don't know. But I didn't hit him. >> Right. Cuz when they talked to you about it in the office, she said that you told her that you were given permission by mom to help him pull up his pants cuz he's diaper trained. >> That was a different totally different child. >> Okay. >> That was Mason. Mama called me and told me she called just called the phone in the office >> and told me how he doing. Honestly, they told me it was Mason. Okay. >> That's what I don't understand. >> Okay. You know, >> well, listen, that that's what they said. I watched the video. It seems to be consistent with >> said though, you know, I I just wait a not time down here. I was down like this. You need to stop doing what you doing cuz you ain't come to school to show why. >> Okay. All right. So, here's the deal, right? Put your hands behind your back. >> Uhhuh. And turn around. >> Can I call my son while I want to lock my door? >> Turn around. >> Okay. Here. Face him. Turn that way. There you go. >> All right. So, you are going to be placed under arrest. Okay. >> Okay. Just put your hands together like you're praying. Well, like palms together. There you go. Yeah. >> Perfect. >> They too tight or they good? >> You can show 83. Uh, >> yeah. >> Yep. Yep. >> 83. >> I'm a different call sign every day. So, >> you good? >> Little tight. All right. Hold on. >> That's good. That's good. After reviewing the items he was carrying, officials completed the required procedures before escorting him from the school grounds. >> You got anything in your pocket? >> No, just my wallet. >> Yeah. >> What's this over here? >> Oh, that's it. Hell, I need that. >> Okay. Yeah, we can bring that. >> You want to take your phone or you want to leave it in the house? >> Well, I want to call him. >> Okay. Yeah, we can do that. >> The calls. >> Was he inside? Cuz I talked to him just before. Uh, >> his car is here still. So, he should be here somewhere. >> Blue car though. >> There's blue cars out there. Yeah, I think so. >> I thought blue one. >> Yeah, the little Hyundai with the >> the Genesis out there. >> Should be. It was here like 2 minutes ago. All right, I got your phone. I got your wallet and stuff. Let's go to my car real quick. >> I can't take them. >> They're not going to let you take those into jail now. >> What about do with that address? That just dropped on the floor. >> They won't let you take any of that stuff. >> But just grab them and put them open the door. Put it over. >> I think I got another one in. Do I need my wallet? >> If you want it, if you don't want it, we can put it in the house for you. >> I would say take it with you because then you'll have a credit card and stuff when you get out. You can get a taxi home or you can whatever. Call your son to come get it. The door's open. >> I know. Yeah. >> You said you have another extension in your pocket. >> It should be. I had probably deep down in the >> I don't see one. Unless it's in a different pocket. >> In this pocket, maybe. >> No, it probably failed. >> Let's make sure. Just like that. Get on confused about. >> So why did you call me yesterday when I called you? >> Cuz I was at work. I got you at work. You didn't give me your job. >> What do you mean? I can't give you a job. >> I said no. Your job was on my job. >> I called you at like 4 in the afternoon. Turn. >> I can't quit answering my phone. >> What job were you at? >> I've been working at UPS. >> Oh, I thought you meant at the school. >> Oh. Uh-uh. >> I didn't know you had two jobs. >> Yeah, I've been a few years. >> Oh, okay. All right. We'll take all your stuff. Come on. So, let me ask you this then. Your your son just called you like a few minutes ago, right? >> No, I came from that way. >> No, no, no. Your son called you cuz I heard him talk to you on the phone. He called you in front of me, right? And then he said that >> he asked me how long I'm going to be. Yeah. Told him I was on the way. >> No. You said you were at your girlfriend's house and you weren't coming home. >> No, I didn't say that. >> That's what he told me. >> No, I told him I'll be there in a few minutes. >> Okay. >> And so why didn't you call me back? >> Well, you ain't leaving no number for me. I called you like five times yesterday and I left you a message like it's >> on my phone. >> I left you a message like 10 minutes ago. Put it >> on my phone. >> Yeah. Your number's uh 16. >> I let my son know, right? >> Okay. Is it open? How do I open it? >> What? >> Your son? >> No, my son. >> Yeah. You said you want me to call your son, right? >> Yeah. He in that blue car. >> Oh, he's in the car. Okay. Oh, no. I'll put the uh air on real quick. All right. >> The teacher was charged with child. Under Florida law, he may face up to five years in prison and a fine of up to $5,000. If you've watched through these final moments, share this story not to pass judgment, but to reflect on empathy, professional boundaries, and the shared responsibility to ensure children's safety in every setting. In Palm Coast, it was a risky home. And this cases show one thing. Children's safety must never be taken lightly. Right by the pile of clothes there was in the in the living room. >> On September 27th, 2024, Palm Coast police received a report of a 2-year-old wandering unsupervised on the street. The child climbed onto a stranger's car and entered an open garage. Officers quickly reached the house and questioned the father of two of the five children. >> Hello, Deputy Dorsy. Are you the only adult here? Uh, >> no. >> There's another adult here. Yes, sir. >> Where are they at? >> Uh, he's back in his room with my uh son right now. But who is he to you? >> Who was like who was a relationship? Roommate. Yeah. How many kids live here? >> There's five here. >> Are they all your kids or Okay. How old are they? >> We go from two all the way up to uh 16. >> Two to 16. >> 2 4 uh 8 four or 15 and 16. >> Okay. Where's the uh like the mother of the kids at? >> Uh work right now. >> Work. But she lives here too. >> Yes. >> Okay. We see all the kids. >> Yeah, we can see all the kids. Uh >> you're you're the stepdad. I'm stepdad to all blood at least. >> All right. So, as far as technicalities go, I'm stepdad to three out of the five. Dad completely blood by two of the five. But I have names and claim on all but one. >> Okay. >> I have names and claims on all the ones. >> Exactly. >> They're all related. Three of them are stepchildren. >> Two technically. >> Step children. >> So, three would technically be stepchildren. I don't have my last name. So I'm on the birth certificate >> and where their birth father's at out on the ether >> and we had better chance of getting that info off a mama. >> I was just curious. I don't even know if she does. >> So how did it go about that? We end up here because as a child walking up to random car trying to get in >> me having a garage door open trying to air out my garage. He likes to go out there, like I said, to this gentleman cuz I usually hang out either there or my back porch to smoke my >> Where were you when he walked out? >> When he walked out initially, I was probably in the room with uncle cuz we were in the back. >> How were you alerted? How were you alerted to him being outside? >> I came out, looked, didn't find him in the bed. Came out here, looked right after it. >> How long did it take before you found him? >> Not even 5 minutes. >> Not even 5 minutes. I miss if 5 minutes is a long time for anybody to be out. me me in general when I went to go see him not on that like 2 minutes or so give or take from the there out here it's like the first place I checked where was he when he came out here >> walking his way from like right here >> so I mean I don't doubt that he went out there but he the argu was definitely not yeah he opened the garage door he attempted to get into a stranger's car >> stranger's car that's what we got called >> they they called about a 2-year-old trying to get in their vehicle so had that not been a concerned citizen had been some pedal up the Yeah. >> So with that kid, >> where does he where was he napping at that you said he was you say he was napping? >> He was napping in my room originally. >> Is that the room on the right over there? >> Up on the bed. >> Does he have a like a a crib or anything or >> No, no crib. >> They said the garage door is not child sidewalk. >> No, the garage door is not. But apparently I'm getting ready to install the motion monitor I got out here. So inside the house, they saw an unsafe environment for young children. >> I'm asking are there any kids in the house? >> My roommate still has his. Then there would be his. >> Does he keep it locked up in a way or >> Yeah, it I don't I don't even know where the heck the guy keeps the thing in. Does he have a safe? >> Not sure. >> He's got um the rifle case, I guess. Worst case scenario if you have anything else. >> Where is it? Where is it? Right there. >> Yeah. >> Is it locked or on it? >> Not right now. No. >> You mind if we talk to your roommate? >> Yep. his urine branches. I know we talked to a 2-year-old with his cabs. Clearly, the kid was young company for at least 4 minutes basically. Hey, >> they're still here. You >> mind if I talk to you alone real quick, boss? >> The investigation continued as police took a statement from a man living there, gradually uncovering the facts. >> Where were you at when Mr. Eric got out earlier? When did he get out? >> Huh? When did he get How long have you been home? What time is it? It's uh 7:23. I've been home by like 6:00. So since 6:00 probably about an hour and a half in. So I just been back in my room. >> Okay. How often are you guys cleaning up the house? >> It gets clean and then it gets trashed. But I've done my fair. >> Well, I'm asking not not you specifically, but how often is the house cleaned up? >> I I cuz looking at this house hasn't been cleaned up in at least two or three days at being generous. >> Being generous. Um, usually you get to that point, but it was supposed to be to my knowledge cuz I was not supposed to be home because paperwork, but >> understand it's not your responsibility. >> It's like it's like get 2 to 3 days. >> Every 2 to 3 days is cleaned up. >> Yeah, it it gets picked up, but usually it >> Who's Is it the dog and cat? That belongs to Mr. Carter. >> Or is it your dog and cat? >> No, no, no, no. The cat is the girls. The dogs is his. >> Okay. And there's fecal matter and urine scattered about the house and that's cleaned up every 2 or 3 days. >> Usually when we see that it should be picked up. So if there was any done today that's should have been done today. But as soon as I see them I will pick it up and I walk through. I already walk through the house because I'm like how long you been staying here? Uh with them gone I think 2 years now. 2 years. I understand none of these kids are yours, right? >> No. Outside looking in, obviously this is not your responsibility. You're not the parent. Outside look looking in, how would you describe the living conditions here? If you would have just walked into this house just like we did, never been never having been here before. Seen urine, feal matter, roaches, food on the ground, oils, weird smells, kids with cavities, kids wandering about. How would you describe those living conditions? As a reasonable prudent person, not too well, right? Why are the kids living in these conditions? If I had a straight answer to why there is not a dynamic, I would. But I don't. I can see parents that don't get that don't get along. A flip is kind of a tension. Do you not get along? Not as a lady. No. But they still share a room and share a benefit like you and you're in there. Are they married? >> No, you're not married. She works out of the pair. She works the most. She used to one homeless. What does he do for work? >> He is a maintenance guy for McDonald's, but she is a department manager and now she is being promoted at McDonald's. >> Yes. But she is across town versus he is here. Okay. >> He has some more days off. >> He has what? >> He has more days off and is home. >> Did he work today? >> No. So, we're saying it's usually on him to take care of the kids, watch them, feed them, that kind of stuff. More so than her. Okay. How often do you come out of the room and see just dog and piss and all that everywhere all over the house? Cuz in conclusion, I saw at least four or five spots where it really happens constantly in multiple spots where they more than one. So the spots that I general out to cuz I I don't general out my space that much anymore because of the aggressive or I don't know. It it seems to have a dislike. So sometimes it's okay, but then most days she's just Yeah. In the father's view, such an unsafe environment was just a bit dirty. But for young children, the risks could be serious. >> All right. So, same thing. We asked him, you know, obviously, I mean, I've been here a few times, never gone in the house or anything like that, but outside looking in, having never been here before, if this were you coming to this house for the first time, you know, having seen feal matter in I'm not done talking. vehicle matter, urine, roaches, discarded food on the on the ground, garbage, all these inanimate objects that are could be hurtful, odors and oils and all this stuff outside looking in. How would you describe those living conditions >> right now? I'm looking a little dirty. >> A little dirty. A little dirty is you spilled some coffee on the rug. That's more than a little dirty. >> You opened up that door, flies literally came out of that laundry room door. >> It's an opinionated thing as far as that would go. what you would consider dirty, what you wouldn't consider of feal matter. >> I get the fecal matter and I get I get the piss as far as that goes. As far as that go, that laundry room has been closed since my uh laundry stuff's been >> be that as it may, the bathroom, the master bedroom where you say the kids sleep and you sleep with your uh girlfriend or there's feal matter in the closet there, too. >> There's feal matter in hers that hasn't been cleaned up yet today. And there's no doors on that. Keep them out in the open living room area where the kids would wander around and be around. >> Playroom. That's the ones from today that just haven't been cleaned up yet. >> Why do they not go outside? >> The dog does go outside. It's usually those are the piles that end up uh prior to waking up. The the point being >> waking up 7:30. >> Yes. >> Potentially dangerous items were accessible to the children, highlighting the importance of maintaining a safe environment. >> Did you work today? >> No, I totally didn't work today. I had a bunch of running around to do for things. So the the point being if it's in one room maybe one little plop whatever we go to house all the time we understand dogs will be dogs right but we see feal matter at several different stages of decomposition throughout the residence which is disgusting we see flies all about the residence I walk in the house as soon as I walk in I'm smack in the face by odors I can't describe I smell a lot of things every day in law enforcement that's one of the worst smelling things I've ever smelled walking into a house I'm telling you from my training experience in law enforcement and I smell bodies that comes pretty close to a body. I'm not kidding. A little dirty is a I think an understatement here. And then you have you have objects all about the floor that could be to children. Which objects? You have toys and ladders and tools. You have wet spots that can be slipped on. I'm slipping and sliding on with moving boots walking around the house. >> Sitting on the counter on the counter. >> Yes, I saw a large pusher sitting right there on the counter amongst all the others. >> Additionally, police explained to the father the potential dangers the child could face when left unsupervised. should have been. Additionally, again, I got to I got to drive this home. Had this child walked up to some pedophile, they would have taken that child and you would have not known for five at least five minutes, like you said, how far can you drive on Belair in 5 minutes? He can get to 95 and he's out of the county, he's gone forever. We we won't know. We know nothing. I imagine nobody here has cameras or ring cameras. We don't we don't have a time frame of when he when he's missing. >> And also, he can't swim and I don't know about kids around this area, but there's plenty of lakes and body of water all over Palm Coast, okay? all over the this this section. Said he would have wandered around, no one would have been outside. He would have gone to a backyard and slipped in a found a pool or found a body of water. He can't swim. It happens cuz kids for some reason kids are always back to the water >> and they always jump in there [music] and >> it always ends up one way and 5 minutes of not realizing up at most 5 minutes. I'm not remember it was whether 2 minutes, 3 minutes, 4 minutes, whatever it is 5 minute thing cuz I understand 5 minutes is a long time but I don't know how long he was. We're trying to work on figuring that out. But still, we're even 30 seconds, bro. >> Oh, I know. I'm I'm very serious as far as the like them getting out of the house thing. That's why we have the dual child lock thing for that door because that door was the issue. But like I said, this one I usually have closed. So, out in the garage isn't like as much of a usually hanging around in here, I guess. >> Yeah, that's why I said the point of them coming out into the garage isn't so much the thing for me cuz when this thing's closed, >> look around your garage. Is this somewhere you want a 2-year-old to be gallivanting? >> Oh, no. Did they touch my tools and everything gosh darn? >> A female delivery worker recounted what had happened earlier, providing further key evidence. >> Hello. How are you? I'm sorry to body. I know you're out making money or whatever the case may be. You just walked me through uh what happened while you called that house right there. My door was trying to open my door. >> Drive across the street. I was just like after I opened my door, I was like, "Where did you come from?" And he obviously doesn't speak any at all yet. She's like, "Where's home?" I said, "You better go home." And he started walking right to the garage. So I followed him there and I just said something that like, "Hello." Like no one was in there. I went to finish the delivery across the street and asked them about it and he just kind of seemed like they didn't want to get involved type deal. So I was like that's kind of weird and they didn't know anything about I was like are your parents home at all? They're like I walked back out. We were back across the street already. So I walked him back two more times before >> he walked he walked back over there >> two times. So for the previous >> I felt bad leaving but I just couldn't stay and I don't know just felt >> How long roughly would you say that you were >> I was here at least 10 minutes. 10 minutes. >> Yeah. With him unsupervised. >> You were here with him 10 minutes unsupervised. Okay. >> And did anybody come out claiming him at any point? >> No one. >> And uh can you describe the child? >> I have a video. >> You have a video. She's saying she was out with the child for 10 minutes. 10 minutes. Well, the child was kept following her back and forth to that house cuz she lived in >> my car. >> I don't live around here. >> And that's him walking back to the garage. >> I was following him. That's the all the video I got. I wish I got him at the door at my door and everything, but your car >> in my driveway. >> This right here. You just know that you he walked you back to his house. >> He walked me back to the house. He didn't say anything to me like words cuz he didn't speak. The mother returned home and could not avoid responsibility for creating an unsuitable living environment for the children. >> A random two-year-old just walking in the middle of the street. So, we come here, make contact. That's your husband. Correct. >> No. >> Father. Father of kids. >> He's the father of the He's the father of the kids. >> Okay. >> We are not together. I just No, we're not together. We just try to make ends meet for the sake. somehow whatever he you know my partners get here they talk to him and they're like hey you know we got this report of the child being out walking the street you mind if we come in and just make sure the kids are okay and make sure you know everything's all right and he says yes they go inside you live here you know how these living conditions are deplorable they're not okay for any child any adult to live in there's no AC for a week there's >> we've been we've been trying to work on it and we've been talking to and everything like that >> is not the the biggest thing but the on the door and the food everywhere. That is is not okay. I understand you work all the time, but you can't just leave your kids in a house that's this deplorable. You have to make sure that you maintain a safe household for the children as well. >> And they do. >> No, that is not a safe and secure household. Having feces on the floor, having on the floor, I mean, just food everywhere. It's completely like, have you been inside there lately? cuz I just walked through there after it was cleaned up and it's still really bad cuz when the father of the children realized that it's now not just a welfare check like this is not okay. He had the children start to pick up but even after them picking up it's still disgusting. It's not okay. >> And I understand what you're saying. I was helping them pick up a little bit today before I had to leave for work. >> Right. There's literally I don't know if it's cat or dog in the laundry room right by the pile of clothes. There was in the living room today. >> There's everywhere. It's It's not yesterday. >> During the investigation, the parents offered various explanations for the children's care conditions. >> How old's your oldest kid? >> 16. >> Okay. And your youngest is >> two. >> And you have five of them? >> Yes. >> Do you know how to raise children? You know that as they're getting older, they get into certain things like open doors, things like that? >> Yes. >> Okay. Do you have a child lock on your front doors? >> Yes, I do. >> You have child lock on the rear slider? >> I'm sorry. You get child locks for those? >> Do you have child lock on this door right here for the garage? I was going to say we use that >> is a store child lock this garage door. >> Okay. >> Because usually the garage >> the dogs get taken out to use the bathroom. >> Yes. I let them out anytime I'm home. I swear you >> when you left this morning. Was there any dog anywhere in the house? >> No. >> Nowhere. >> No. >> So why is there decaying feces in your laundry room? Does a washer and dryer work? >> No, it does not. >> Okay. How do you guys >> We take it to the laundry mat over here. >> Okay. There's multiple piles of feces in that in that room. What about the open living room playroom area? >> The playroom. >> That big open space right you walk in the front door. >> The playroom. >> Yeah. >> There wasn't anything there. >> Well, when I show there's multiple piles. There's on the floor and a large oil stain that he said has been there for a while. What's with the oil stain? There's an oil sitting on the floor. There's water. There's >> I didn't know that there was oil on the floor. >> But you live there, correct? >> Yes, I do live here. But I'm telling you, I didn't know that there was oil on the floor. >> When was your last day off work? I work a lot. I know. I'm sure you work a lot. >> Wednesday. >> Wednesday. Okay. Do you and him share a bedroom? >> Totally. >> Okay. Who else sleeps in the bedroom with you, too? >> Me, and my three Me, him, and the three youngest. >> The three youngest. Okay. That closet without a door on it. Whose closet is that? >> That's mine. >> Okay. What about theies on the floor in that closet? >> And I've been cleaning that out just about every day. No, I did not touch it today before you asked. >> And that's dogies. So, when you pick up the feces, do you not clean the floor as well? >> No, I do clean the floor. >> Okay. I can see a lot of spots where you might have picked a few but >> and I've mocked it and >> which what's which primary bathroom for the kids. >> Everybody pretty much uses that one but they both get used. >> Okay. The conditions of that bathroom between the two bedrooms is ported. There's clothes on the floor. I don't know. There's a shower cart in there. The toilet's gross. There's stuff everywhere. Just is that not whose uncle is to clean that? >> My two older two cuz that's their bathroom. >> And then we walked inside the entire countertop. Every single inch of counter top was filled with dirty dishes. There were knives left unattended. Taco Bell everywhere. >> We just ordered Taco Bell tonight. Did you guys not? I was at work at this point. >> So again, like we understand you're the main bread winner. You work all the time. >> But apparently a lot of things are going to be >> right. As a parent, like you still have that responsibility to make sure that whoever is left in control gets it handled. >> After all evidence was gathered, the father also faced legal consequences. This was his second time being faced legal action for safety concerns for the child. The first occurring in February 2020. >> Sir, can I ask for what? >> Don't stop tensing. Stop tensing. >> Okay. I want to know for what? Can I get your explanation? >> No. Why? >> You just do crazy things just like you just did. >> Trying to do crazy things. >> You're being detained >> for So right now, we have a child unattended for several minutes. Okay. At which point you were completely unaware that that person at risk. You know you have five children so you know how children work. You're lucky because one she's a nice person. Could have been a pedophile. Could have been some weirdo running around cuz I've seen him. Or he could have just been wandering about 10 minutes by himself. Can't swim. Correct. >> Anybody? And >> does he have to come back here? Healthy for my kids. That's not healthy for me. Can I ask what has caused the living arrangements for you guys to be living together when you're not in relationships? He's the primary breadwinner of the family. He doesn't work. He does work. He doesn't work as much as he did before. >> Are you guys financially dependent on each other? >> Sadly, and that's the reason he doesn't. >> That's the only piece of >> It's hard and all that, but >> I mean, it's all that it comes down to for the most part. I lost him for like a matter of two couple seconds. I get that's all it takes, but it's not an easy thing to sit there and make sure you're doing everything for all of them all the time. >> The father, 39-year-old Carter Nicholas Robert, faced charges of safety concerns for the child without great bodily harm and nonviolent [music] obstruction. He was held in the county jail and released the next day on a $3,500 bond. After receiving a description of the mother, officers entered the bar and found her drinking inside. >> What's going on, Christina? Christina, come stand over. >> I just literally came here to get my boyfriend. >> Okay, can you come stand over here? >> Christina, >> hey, >> where's Josh? >> Josh is with our other officers. I need you to pay attention and focus. I am going to read you something. Uh, just because this is going in a weird direction. You're not under arrest. You're going to stay here. You're not going to be dipping and dodging me, but you're going to stay right here. Okay? Your child is okay. >> Okay? >> And Josh, it's okay. So, I'm going to read you something because like I said, this is kind of go this is going to go in a different direction. I have a feeling. I just need you to focus. So, you have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can be used against you in court. You have the right to talk to a lawyer for advice before we ask you any questions and to have them with you during questioning. You really listen to me. >> I am trying. Listen. No. No. No. Christina, listen. I'm going to give you one more. >> No. I I know. I know you're not going anywhere. >> Okay. Just let me do it. >> But here's the deal. When I tell you to stop moving. >> Okay. All right. Can I just sit right here? Can I just sit right here? >> So, I'm debating on whether to put you in handcuffs right now because you because you don't know how to listen. >> I know how to listen. >> You want to have a seat? We can do that. Let's walk over and have a seat. >> Yes, ma'am. We're all 105. >> Her Miranda rights were read and she agreed to an interview. Faced with continuous questioning, the mother appeared flustered and tried to involve her boyfriend as a way to deflect responsibility. >> So, Christina, you've been read your rights. I have a feeling you know why we're here. Do you wish to explain or maybe help me better understand what the heck is going on? >> I literally came here to get my boyfriend. We were fighting car sleeping this car. Josh >> Okay. So, this is this is Josh's car. >> Um, you were driving Josh's car. >> I >> Did you drive Josh's car here? >> I did. >> Okay. So, Josh was here with you. >> He was here. I got here after him. We had been arguing. I just >> You can have a seat back down. Thank you. So, you and Josh were arguing and Josh came here by himself. [clears throat] >> Yes. >> Okay. What time did Josh get here to the bar? I I really don't know honestly. >> What time did you get here? So, >> can I check my phone? >> Sure. >> Probably less than a half an hour ago. >> Okay. About a half an hour ago you got to the bar and you came inside. >> I came inside. Josh was in here. >> He was. And then I had been sitting out here watching the baby and I just I got a drink. I was just waiting for him to leave so we could go home. >> Okay. So, at some point you decided to leave the child in the car to go inside and have a drink at the bar. >> Out here the whole time. I literally had just >> That wasn't my question. At some point you decided to go inside. He was out here watching the baby. Josh was >> So Josh knew the baby was out here, too. >> Yeah. >> And at one point were you guys both inside when the baby was Well, yeah, because we were standing out here for quite a while. So, I'm trying to figure out what at what point did both of you guys decide to go inside >> and have a drink. And I honestly just wanted to get my boyfriend from the bar. I did. I was not trying to stay here at all. I was trying to just go home. Can you explain why you would leave your child in the car unattended on a cold night when the >> Have a seat. >> I understand. Okay. >> Do you understand? Because you're having a very difficult time comprehending and following simple instruction. >> I'm just nervous. I just want my child back. >> Why are you so nervous? >> Because I just wanted >> What makes you nervous? >> I just wanted to go home. I didn't want any of this to happen. >> Okay. What were you guys arguing about today? You and Josh >> about him not being home. I just wanted to go home. I live I live with my I live we live over here in Edgewater. >> Where? >> Off of >> Okay. So, you guys live together? >> Yes. >> How did Josh get here? >> He has his own vehicle. >> Is that here? >> Yes, sir. >> Which one is that? Have a seat. >> Okay. >> Thank you. >> Josh and Christina are live together. Josh left and came to the bar. The investigation became more complicated as their statements contradicted each other. >> Miranda, please listen. >> Can I talk to this guy, please? >> I'm going to talk to you in a second, but make sure you understand it. Tell me what's going on. >> So, I've been in here by myself hanging out for the last few hours. She showed up here. I told her not to come up here. >> Mhm. >> Oh, Gray is going to jump in and ask questions as we're going along, too. So, go ahead. >> I told her not to come. I said, "Go to the house. At any point did she say she has a kid in the car? >> She told me yes, you did. >> Told you yes. When was that? >> This is when I came out here to check on her. >> Check on who? >> Her kid. >> I didn't know she was here. That's why I had the keys. I came out here. I said, "Give me your keys." >> My question is, so when she got here, she met you inside the bar. Correct. >> Yeah. She didn't tell me she was in here. So, I started drinking at Surf. I wasn't drunk. I left and came here. Ever since then, I am drunk right now. I was not planning on leaving here and driving. >> And you think she got here about an hour and a half ago? >> Yes. >> Okay.
