That fell down. He's going to get tagged. Tase him. Get on the ground. Get on the ground. Get on the ground. You're under arrest. >> In policing, sovereign citizens encounters are on the rise. And there seems to be no shortage of incidents where officers encounter sovereign citizens who are willing to be torn out of their car and tased just to prove a wrong point and officers willing to oblige them. This is one of those. >> It was a setup. >> Close up. It It was a setup. I had one turn around on Maidville there, back up, and as soon as I pulled out, they got behind me. >> Whenever I approach a car and I see the person stays on the phone, doesn't acknowledge my presence, and they're smoking a cigarette already, I have red flags. Most people when they get pulled over, they're like, "Okay, they acknowledge the officer, and I can see that there's some aggression in this guy. This is definitely something to key in on." >> That was a shadow. >> Hey, so I need you to talk to me. You got a driver's license, rest, race, proof of insurance on you, >> sir. You got a driver's license, registration, proof of insurance on you? Yeah, they're they're on it. They they they knew what the they were doing. >> Take note of the officer behind the B-pillar door jam. You hear me speak of this all the time and I'll call out if an officer gets too far into that window. The safer position in my opinion is behind that B-pillar door jam. So if the person wants to engage you, they got to turn and you have the tactical advantage. >> Sir, do you got a driver's license registration proof insurance on you? >> It it ain't no joke. >> Hey sir, I need you to talk to me. >> Well, I'm right down here at the bottom of the hill. These guys draw a little trip and I'm going to show them what the trip is all about. >> Sir, >> take note of that comment, letting another person know the exact location. This is something I definitely key in on. >> Shut the truck off and start following my legal commands. >> You do not have legal command, >> sir. >> Get your supervisor out here, sir. >> Get your supervisor out. >> Shut the truck off. >> Get your supervisor out here. >> Ding ding. Sovereign citizen. >> Sir. >> Sir, you need to get your supervisor out here. >> He will be here, but you're going to follow my commands. >> You have no command. >> Shut the truck off. >> You have regulations. >> Shut the truck off. No. >> Shut the truck off. >> I will not >> shut the truck off. >> You will get your supervisor out here. >> He will be on his way. He's on his way. >> Then he needs to be shut off right now and give me your driver's license. >> Then I'm not talking to you. I'll talk to your supervisor. I'm not talking to you, >> sir. Shut the truck off. >> No, I'm not talking to you. Head this way. >> No, don't invite anyone else here. >> Hang up the phone. Hang up the phone. >> Get your supervisor here. You have no legal right to tell me what the hell to do. I do. >> No, you don't. >> I have authority. We're on a traffic stop. >> Where? Where? Where? >> We're in Hawkeye County. >> Are you on a public road? >> Yes, you were on a public road where the violation. >> Then the public can do what the hell they want to do on that public road. Yes, it is. >> Not at work. >> Don't get your supervisor out here. >> He's going to be a sovereign citizen. He's advising. He's not going to ID himself and follow my commands. >> He won't shut the truck off. >> I'm right here. >> Go past garage. I'm right here. >> Sir, you are not inviting anyone else out here. Sir, >> I will place you under arrest and them under arrest. >> No, you cannot. Yes, I will. You can detain me. You cannot place me under arrest. >> You are detained cuz this is >> You need to get your supervisor out here. Quit talking to me. Go that way. >> No tag lights, sir. >> Go that way. >> Set the >> This is a setup. I don't care. I already know this situation. >> It's not a setup. >> Yes, it is. Go that way. >> Okay. I'd like to take note of something. Key in the mic. And I'm guessing that this is the gun hand. And I see the flashlight is in this hand. A lot of people are going to say, "Well, he's got to key the mic. He's got to hold on to the flashlight. There's another option potentially, and that is hooking the flashlight under the arm. This arm is now free to key the mic, and then this hand is still free. I can't see the configuration of his gear, but for officers who want to know if they have an option of doing something, hook the flashlight under the arm. Key the mic with this hand. This hand is free. This guy's a no person and he's acting aggressive. >> This is a setup. I don't care. I already know this situation. >> It's not a setup. >> Yes, it is. Go that way. >> No, sir. >> Go that way. Get your supervisor. Please quit talking. >> He's on his way. >> Good. >> And I'm telling you, you're going to be placed under arrest. >> I have family issues I'm dealing with. >> I don't care about that. >> I know you don't care. You really don't care >> because this is a legal travel stop and you have to follow legal commit. >> [ __ ] You need to go back to your cruiser till a supervisor gets here. >> No, >> you don't make the rules I >> No, sir. That is incorrect. >> [ __ ] You get paid by the I am a taxpayer. I pay your wages. >> Okay. And that's fine. I appreciate that. >> You helped me put food on the table. But as a citizen, when you went through the BMC >> citizen, where where the citizen come? >> You're American citizen, aren't you? >> Uh, well, after after knowing what I know now, I don't know. After knowing what I know now, I don't know if I am. >> I'm okay, sir. Keep your hands up on the steering wheel. >> Don't tell me what to do. >> Sir, keep your hands up. >> Hey, am I am I what you say I am? >> You're an American citizen. >> Is that what you say I am? >> Yes, sir. Then I am free to do what I want on a public roadway. >> No, no, no. Traffic stop. You're not >> traffic. That is statues and codes. That is not law. What law did I bring? >> Now, this guy is clearly confused on how laws work in the real world. Just like how every year millions of people find themselves confused when trying to find the right Medicare plan, which is exactly why today's video is sponsored by Chapter. You see, Medicare is one of those things that can become so overwhelming so quickly. And I've recently seen comments by viewers like Veronica talking about how difficult Medicare can be. But Chapter fixes all of that by connecting you with independent adviserss who compare every plan across the country so you're aware of every option available to you and which one actually makes the most sense for [music] your needs. The call to them is completely free. It only takes about 20 minutes and on average seniors save around $1,100 per year. So call 644-5336078 to get the advice you need today. That's 844-5336078. And it doesn't cost you a penny. >> Committed a traffic offense in the state of Ohio. >> It don't matter. There is no law. Who is the Who is the uh victim? >> State of Ohio is the victim. >> Well, you said that. >> Yes, sir. >> The state of Ohio is the victim. So, I'm a victim. >> No. State of Ohio's a victim and I'm a victim because you're obstructing. >> I pay taxes. >> Okay. >> To the state of Ohio. >> Okay. >> So, who's the victim? State of Ohio can't be a victim. Who's the state of Ohio? Artificiality. Huh? Who's the state of Ohio? Who is the state of Ohio? We'll just >> We We sure hell know it ain't you cuz you don't pay taxes. You get paid by taxes. >> L2, step it up. We've got other people pulling up on our stop. >> Just keep it. >> You You You don't pay taxes. You get paid by taxes. I pay taxes. >> Tell them to leave. You need to leave now. >> I don't care. Hey, you're up by my old lady. >> You need to leave now. >> Tell her to leave or she's going to jail. >> Who's the state of Ohio? Who's going to go to jail? Who's the state of Ohio? You tell me the state of Ohio. Who's the state of Ohio? >> So, I just want to interject something here on taser. The ability for that to be effective with him in the car like that is going [music] to be extraordinarily challenging. Who's on lethal cover? If you're going to be a taser with a no person in a vehicle that's not being cleared and you're on less than lethal or low lethal, there has to be lethal coverage if you think that it might escalate that quickly. So, that's a challenge. We'll see what happens. >> You can't even tell me who the state of Ohio is. >> All right, tell her to leave. >> Who is the state of Ohio? Nobody can tell me. It's an artificial image. You guys act like you know what you're doing. I'm on private property, so it really don't matter. Who is it? >> Me. I [ __ ] PAY TAX. IT'S ME. I AM THE STATE of Ohio and you tell me I'm on a public road. So you're telling me the state of Ohio is on a public road and you're going to pull me over for some [ __ ] Is that what you're telling? Come on, man. Hey, think about this. You can bring whatever. Shoot me. Whatever. I don't care. I'm not being vicious. I'm just taking the [ __ ] honest truthful facts. Right. Is it not the truth? Is it not the truth? >> What's his name? >> I don't know. He won't identify himself. Hey, I'm Lieutenant Wilder McDonald County Sheriff's Office. How are you, sir? >> I am me. >> I am the shift supervisor on scene. Okay. >> Okay. >> All right. My deputy here pulled you over for no tag lights. Let me see your hands. Thank you. >> The tag light is right back there. It's a little thing. It's like it screws into the uh >> Okay. I need I need you to listen to me. Pulled you over for a traffic violation. >> No, you didn't. He p He he pulled down there. He turned around. >> I need you to listen to me. No, you need to listen to me because >> exit the vehicle. >> No, not exit the vehicle. We are going to remove you. >> That sounds like a threat. That sounds like a threat. >> I'm giving you a lawful command. >> That sounds like a threat. That sounds like a threat. And you got little Rudy over here. >> This is the last time I'm going to ask you to step out now. Step out now. You're going to get tag. Taz him. GET ON THE GROUND. GET ON THE GROUND. GET ON THE GROUND. YOU'RE under arrest. Stop resisting. >> Stop resisting. >> Stop resisting. Put up resisting. Stop resisting. >> You got me. >> Y. >> Put your hands behind your back. You're under arrest. >> What I want you to do. >> Want you roll up on your side. Okay. This way. >> In custody. Okay. A lot to unpack on this and some really interesting stuff that we can learn from here. The initial stop was for a license plate light was out. And so a license plate light is the light that illuminates your license plate when you're driving. The interesting thing about that is a lot of officers will use that as what's called a pretextual stop, which is a stop that the officer really wants to look inside your car and find out if there's something more going on than just the tagline. And the Supreme Court has ruled on this. It is 100% within the officer's right to pull a person over if they have a legitimate charge, even if they want to do a little bit of snooping to see if there's something else going on. So, that explains the part about why a lot of people get upset about getting stopped for these minor violations. A couple of things I'd like to mention. When the person is saying the state, how can the state be the victim? Well, for traffic infraction, the state or the jurisdiction is almost always going to be the victim that's listed because it's a state, county, whatever statute and that's who's the victim. You know what other charges usually the state is the victim? Domestic violence, not the actual person that was battered. The state becomes the victim because there were people who would not press charges because they were afraid of retaliation. So, the state decided to step in and say, you know what, we're going to be the victim because we're going to go forward with the charges. So, there were some tactical challenges that I saw when the lieutenant showed up. I love that he was about business. It was about lieutenant shutdown, but the positioning on the car coming up without the vehicle being cleared is just an unsafe place to be. We can always do that behind the B-pillar. So, the taser effectiveness, I'm a huge fan of what the taser can do. And the new Taser 10 is phenomenal. This was not the Taser 10. So, what happened is you did not see the two prongs create neuromuscular incapacitation or NMI. And that's why you saw the officer drive stunning taser into the back causing pain compliance, localized pain in that one area. And you see [music] the attitude adjustment and the subject was taken into custody. What's your name, buddy? >> Dond. >> Don what? >> Don L. >> Don. >> I'm well known, >> buddy. I've never seen you before. >> Well, none of you have. >> I actually This was uncalled for, Don. >> Well, it was, but I'm an [ __ ] >> Well, I'm not an really. I'm a really good guy. >> I need you listen. My wife my wife called me and she needed help and I seen him whipping around there and as soon as I pulled out he pulled out and I felt like cuz she said sheriff was up there waiting on them and I'm like I'll just come and >> we're the only three on shift and nobody was up waiting on anybody. >> Yeah, >> I was I was actually home late in my >> So So here's the deal. You pretty much turned a simple traffic stop >> I know in into a trip to the jail tonight. Well, I don't want to do that. But >> we didn't want you to do that either. But that's where you took this to. >> Why? >> With your socialist. >> I didn't resist. >> Who are you? >> It wasn't you that >> No, but you do need to leave though. >> Okay. >> Here's your second warning. >> Here's your second warning for obstruction. If you get to three, you're going to jail. >> Well, then uh you might as well. >> Okay. I've got to do my investigation here. >> I lied on my last cigarette. >> So, you need to leave. It's not worth going to jail. >> So, my uncle's truck's going to get infected because I asked for help. >> Not that because you're asking for help because of what happened on scene here for my investigation. Okay. >> Can I at least drive at home? >> No. >> Have my license and everything? >> No. >> I can't. So, you're not towing? >> Yes, ma'am. >> Pay? >> No. >> I can see you. You don't have >> No, you can't jurisdiction. >> Okay. I'm being nice. >> I'm being I'm being nice. I'm being nice. >> I know the case. I know the law. >> Please don't make me. >> That's why you guys didn't forget everything. >> 23 to 19. >> All right, ma'am. Listen. Listen. >> Listen. I've been super nice to you. >> I'll give it back to you. >> I don't want you to go to jail. >> This is the I got No, I'm being serious because I not allow my uncle's truck to go to to the impound and I'm not allowing my husband go to jail for something I called and asked him to do knowing he didn't have a license. >> I am sorry. That's not why he went to jail. But that's [ __ ] >> He went to jail. I'll tell you why he went to jail. Because he knows the law like I do and like all of our family does and you guys the way the school teaches you. Don't like to hear the truth. And it happens every time you use the obstruction. >> I'm trying to give you the chance. >> I'm trying to give you the chance to walk away now. It go for you to put those handcuffs on me and take me to jail with you because I will sue you and and take your bond number and everything. You are not going to stand over my shoulder while I'm doing my investigation. Okay. >> Are you serious right now? >> I am dead serious. >> Can I get your bond number and I'll walk away. I'll walk away if you can give me your bond number. A name. >> Bond number >> and name. >> What's a bond number? >> Every um >> I'm just trying to clarify. >> Everybody works for the state has a bond number. >> No. Bond numbers when you go to jail. I've never been to jail. >> No. >> Are you asking for a You are right. You are right. >> Yeah. Are you asking for a bad number? Is that the word you were looking for? No, they do not. >> Yes, they don't. >> Bond is when you when you go to jail. >> Everyone has a social security number. >> You're also right on that, but China owns us. So, >> okay. You need to walk away. >> You want to play that? >> You need to walk away. >> Can I at least get your name? >> I am Deputy Justice and my badge number or sorry, we don't have badge numbers. We have unit numbers. >> Oh, no. No. Now, no longer badge number. >> Nope. Nope. 33. Yes, ma'am. >> And deputy what? >> Justice. Deputy Justice. Can I get a first name? >> No, absolutely not. >> Deputy Justice. How poetic. It never ceases to amaze me that people, grown adults, could be so incredibly wrong, willing to get tased, get dragged out of a car, and go to jail and be wrong. If you know someone, and I hope you don't, know someone who would fall down this rabbit hole and willing to get arrested for whatever obstructing or traffic charges that this person likely incurred, send this video to them because this has got to stop at some point. It's a no-win situation. I've never ever seen it work. Like the video, subscribe to the Sergeant Curtis channel, and watch some of the videos in the archive.
