I'm not sure what you're doing. What's your name? I'll find out what's your name. If he was speeding, how fast was he going? What's your name? >> Stand up. Stand up. >> I'm not standing up. >> If you decide to have the wild idea to drive recklessly in a parking lot in broad daylight, don't do it. And if you do decide to do something that silly, don't switch seats with someone else when the police get behind you and thinking you're not going to get caught because you will. And if you decide to do all of those things, definitely let them know if you have a concealed firearm in your waistband. This is one of those. >> doing? Open the registration to the sheriff's office. You know why I pulled you over? Two things. Okay? You were driving. You guys just switched. I just saw it. Okay? When you were driving in that parking lot, you were speeding. You also got a modified exhaust. Do you have your driver's license? >> Okay, so this is a really tough configuration where you have this truck where you have the front two passengers and then you have the cab in the back where you have two passengers. And the officer is right on. If you can even see the officer where he is. And you can see the suspect looking at the officer here. This is not the tactical best position. The other thing is, why do we show our hand and let them know that we know all of the things that we know? Possibly a better practice. Call the driver back to your vehicle with the keys. And let the driver lock himself into a story. Under those circumstances where you're switching seats and driving recklessly, occupied four times, click, click. Handcuff the person. You can justifiably do it. And if you decide to unrelease them, you can always just take the handcuffs off. Much safer practice. >> Do you have your ID and registration in the car? You got your ID? How old are you? Do you have your ID? You got your driver's license? You got an ID on you? Huh? Huh? You have an ID on you? Let me get the registration for the vehicle. Uh you got the registration for the I'm the I got the registration, you got the car insurance? >> Is this your This car? >> That's our >> So I'm looking and it appears that the backup unit is arriving and walking up. It's kind of difficult to see, but if you look at the driver side mirror of the patrol vehicle, you can see an officer. It looks like he's walking up. So we've been into this stop for some time and now it's looks like we're getting our first backup unit and we're still right at this window engaged with four people. >> All right. Do you see anybody in this car got a medical marijuana card? Is there any marijuana in the vehicle? Be honest with me. I'm going to tell you right now, okay? I'm going to search the vehicle because I smell marijuana coming I smell the odor of marijuana coming out of the vehicle. I'm giving you the opportunity to just be straight with me. If there is, you know, it is what it is. We can work through it. But if I find other stuff and stuff like that, then my hands are going to be tied. Do you have some money? >> I got it. >> He has marijuana. He just told me he has marijuana. So we're going to search the whole car. Stop because you're going to turn this into something that doesn't have to be turned into, okay? So you're Listen, you're going to get out of the car and you're going to wait right here. You got to get out of the car. You're going to have a seat right here. Just have a seat on the curb. >> Why I got to sit? >> Listen, bro. I'm not going to I'm not going to play this game with you. Have a seat on the curb. >> Non-compliant, hands in pockets, no pat down. These are concerns and you got all the traffic traffic whizzing by. So you have another danger zone that you have to be concerned with. Pat downs are paramount, especially with non-compliant people and with pants that are baggy that you don't know if they're carrying something. This is important. >> Hey, go ahead and get out of the car. Driver's front, where's that? In here? We'll go out through here in a second, okay? All right, so >> I I've explained it to you. I saw you driving. Okay? You were the one that was speeding down that parking lot over there. So, you either identify yourself or you go to jail for obstruction. It's up to you. >> I was driving. >> I've explained it to you. I'll explain it to you again, okay? I saw you with my own eyes. I have you on camera on the dashcam. You were driving when I saw you. When I saw you commit the infraction of speeding through a parking lot. Whip around and come right back up here. Listen. Listen. What's your name? >> If he was speeding, how fast was he going? >> What's your name? >> What What What does the thing say? >> What's your name? >> How fast was he going? >> What's your name? >> Look, he does he can't tell you >> Are you going Are you going to Are you going >> How fast was he going? >> Are you going >> How fast was he going? >> Are you going to >> How fast >> Why didn't you pull him over there? >> Hey Basset, come over here. How fast was he going since he was driving since he was driving and so-called driving? Excuse me, sir. >> Stand up. Stand up. Stand up. >> Cuz he can't tell me how fast he was going. >> go in the back of the car. >> How fast was he going? That [ __ ] don't make no [ __ ] sense, bro. That's [ __ ] up. And you making buddy look bad. He look like he just trying to pull over and do his job and he's just >> Driving in your [ __ ] >> He did not consent to search me either. At all. I do have a firearm. >> You have a firearm on you? >> On my left hip. How old are you? >> Is this in a holster? >> Is it? >> No, it's not in a holster. You want to loosen the belt? >> Here, record this. It's an illegal firearm. That's how you get it. Record this. >> It's registered to my name. This is when I loosen the belt. >> He's trying to get something so bad. >> The entire time of this interaction, officer was there initially by himself. This subject had a firearm on him. Was not patted down. If the bad intentions existed, and we know that there are people who want to harm police officers that are out there every single day, this is a very dangerous situation. When is the pat down conducted? Do we hang out at cars? Do we call people back to our car? Conduct the pat down? Hook them up if we need to hook them up? If that's the safer practice, especially if we have the charge. I say these critiques because I care about police officers. I want officers to go home. And if I can use my wisdom and knowledge and the years of experience that I have, people are going to get upset that I critique police, so be it. But if it's going to save an officer's life, then you're just going to have to have your feelings hurt, because I'm going to critique the things that can keep officers safe, and so parents don't have to put flags on top of caskets. This is important. >> I'm not Listen, I'm not I'm going to jail. >> For what? I'm coming to get you. You ain't got to worry about it. I'm coming to get you. You get bailed out the same day. What did she do? What did she get arrested for? >> Yeah, we'll get it for you in a second. What's your name? How old are you? And then you are this guy right here, right? That's you? Okay. Stand up. I'll pat you down. All right, so I I explained it to them. I don't understand why you don't understand. Your buddies, they're hyping you up and they're going to make you go to jail. So, how old are you? >> 22. >> You're 22. You have a firearm on you, right? >> It's registered. >> It's regis- It's registered to you. You're allowed to have it. I understand that. That's okay, right? Whose truck is that? >> My dad's. >> Your dad's truck? Not smart of you, man, when you're dealing with law enforcement and you just have a gun tucked into you like that. You know? >> I said what? >> I said it's not smart of you to just When we're dealing with all this like that, for you to just keep the fact that you have a gun on you, just, you know? At least let, you know, to prevent anything, just let people know that you have a gun. >> You checked the car already? >> Yeah. >> I got the stuff from the passenger. He's on state probation. >> I know. >> Yeah. >> Is he on the truck? This the guy right here, right? Your dad? Yeah? >> Right. >> Why'd you guys switch seats? >> He's got no license. His license is revoked and he just recently went to jail for it, right? A couple months ago, a few months ago. Right? That's the reason why. >> By you guys switching seats like that, you're obstructing. Because now you guys are trying to lie and you guys are trying to, you know what I mean? So, it's not it's not a good look, especially when I'm asking you. >> I'll be right back, okay, buddy? >> Hey, what's your name? >> All right, stand up. Trying to find your badge. Right now you're being detained, okay? >> What? >> Obstruction. Huh? Remember when you jumped in the front of the driver's seat to drive? With your brother? You didn't have a driver's license? That's why. Saw it with my own eyes. And then I got I got I came up to you guys. I asked you guys nicely. What'd you say? Nah. That didn't happen. Okay, you're still obstructing at that point. >> He hooks him up because of what he saw at the very very beginning before he even contacted him. He saw it. Is it a better practice to go right and hook this guy up? If they're going to be trying to do this obstructing thing, then they're likely going to continue obstructing, which they did, and we can potentially prevent this whole other thing with the firearm discovery way later in the process than we did. You can always un-handcuff a person, but if you have it, use it, especially if it's an obstructing thing. It is the safest practice, in my opinion. Another point I'd like to make, this person who's this chaos companion, young people, if you're watching this, this person's behavior is not your friend behavior. If this person is your family member, this is not family member behavior. This is really rude, ignorant, bad behavior from a person who's going to cause other people challenges in life if he does not grow up. He is not doing himself any favors, nor is he doing favors for anyone else that's at the scene, especially people that could be his friends or family members. >> Anything in your pocket? You want everything to come with you, or what? >> Yeah. >> Okay. All right. So, hang on to that, I'll be right back. Have a seat. What did they say to you? >> This is what we found. >> Yeah. Totally confiscated. >> How much was it that this >> Yeah. Probably a half a gram. >> Stand up. Put your hands behind you. Does your mom know where you are right now? >> Yeah. >> Okay. Does your mom know you smoke weed? >> Yeah. >> You can go in the back of uh back of the car. Where's back of the Okay, is this your phone number? Is that it? >> No, that's my >> Hey, uh Can you go ahead and stand up again? This phone's yours, right? >> Is there anything else on you? >> I know you requested a sergeant, sergeant's on the way, okay? He's coming to talk to you. Is the firearm or anything else on you? I know your brother had it, so are there any on you? Just sit in here for now. Hey, how old are you, bro? 24? That's your wallet. That's your phone. Yeah, yeah. You want me to take it with you? It's going to either stay in the car or the car's going to get towed. Is your grandma here? >> Yes, sir. Yes, she she she's the old lady in front of the truck. >> Oh, okay, okay, I got you. So, you want me to give your property to her? >> She's still right there? >> Yeah, she's in the front. >> Did you tell your mom? >> Yes, I told her she's going to wait for me in jail. >> Okay. You told her what what happened? >> Yeah. >> What's she saying? >> She's crying the entire time. So. >> He just told me that the mom knows that he smokes weed. >> Yeah, she >> Hi, grandma. >> Hi. >> How you doing? >> I'm fine, thank you. >> Okay. So, did they explain it to you? Your grandkids, okay? They were doing something that is not good. One of them was driving with no license, and then they they switched seats on me trying to make me believe that they were not breaking the law, okay? So, they're both going to go to jail today for that, okay? They They told me to give you this. This is their property. >> Okay. >> This phone, uh Gerald's phone, and then the other the other guy's phone. Okay? They said you can you can take it home with you. Okay? >> All right. >> And you can hold it for them. >> their own phones? >> There There's going to be They're both going to go to jail, yes. They Quan's going to go to jail because he jumped into the driver's seat and made trying to tell me that he was driving. He lied He lied. When he lies, that's obstruction. So, that you can't do that. Okay? I saw them. I saw them switch seats. Okay? >> So, so what about the other two? >> The One of them The other one had marijuana in his pocket, so he's going to go to jail, too. >> Which one? >> The Spanish one. >> Oh, okay. Well, what's going to happen with that? >> The other one is just going to be set free to go. >> Okay. Well, I guess I can take him home. >> Okay, I'll I'll wait I'll just wait for me here and then I'll let you know, okay? >> Okay. Thank you. >> What's your name, though? What's your name? >> Tyre. >> What is it? >> Tyre. >> Tyre, okay. I'm going to take a picture of you and then you're going to be set to go, okay? >> All right. >> All right, you're good. So, she said she's going to drive you home. >> All right. >> All right. See you, man. >> Okay, have a good one, though. >> I got all the evidence. It's all signal zero. So, I'll just meet you at property and evidence. This is >> Uh >> What can I do that for you for now? >> I already wrote him a ticket. >> So, you're just waiting on him to get here? >> Let me ask him. I I think he's right there. >> Okay. All right, I'm going to break them off. You want to start talking about anything? >> I talked to your grandma. I let her know what you guys did about switching seats and stuff. And huh? That's illegal, bro. That's illegal because you're obstructing my investigation, especially when I especially when I go up to the window. >> I know, but I'm saying like how is that obstructing you? >> Because I saw him commit the infraction. So, when I go make contact with him, he's telling me, "Nah, that wasn't me." "That wasn't me. I was driving." So, right there you're causing me you're you're obstructing my investigation. >> Yeah, we I didn't actually comment on that to you. >> Okay. All right. Well, everything's recorded, bro. Everything's on camera, everything's recorded. Okay, even this camera right here is going to catch you guys >> speeding >> and it's going to catch you guys coming out to that stop sign. It's going to catch the modified exhaust. It's going to catch you guys switching seats because I was literally >> You know that truck is stopped. >> Okay, I'm not that that I'm not even worried about that. I'm not even going to write you a ticket for that. But it it I mean >> That was not me. >> No. No. >> That's not my license. That's not me. >> Come on, bro. >> Listen, I'm going to tell you right now what I'm going to do, okay? I'm going to I'm going to tell you what I'm going to do, okay? I'm only going to hit you with obstruction. >> Come on. That's it. That's it. >> You know how long I >> That's all I'm going to do. But you guys cannot do that. You guys cannot do that. I don't care about you recording me. I don't care about that, dude. I have a camera on me myself. Okay? Just because you record me is not going to stop me from doing my job. >> I'm trying to make sure I'm safe, too. Cuz you came kind of hostile, man. >> No, I came in good, and then when you guys started going obstructing Hey. Hey. >> Damn man, right here worrying about you. >> Okay. >> Have you explained the arrest? >> He's arrested. Obstruction. Obstruction. >> Have you explained it to him already? >> Yeah. >> I don't What was he arrested for? Corporate meeting? >> He was arrested for obstruction. >> There you go. You're arrested for obstruction. >> Sergeant shut down, not a person it's a mole. Shut it down really quickly. Sergeant made it very clear in front of the corporate what the charges were. Wasn't playing the guy's game in the backseat. I like it. I'd like to address something else. This old lady gets called out to the scene and she has to deal with all of this kind of stuff. And you know what in the comments I've seen, a lot of parents and their kids watch this channel. And my son and daughter watch this channel and they share things and we talk about it. And people ask me, what's the best crime prevention advice you could give me? And it is good parenting. And I'd like to say that shout out to the parents cuz I see in the comments that you watch this channel together and you want your kids to be better. This old lady has to come and pick up these kids. I mean this is a horrific thing to have to be woken up to and this lady looks like she's in her 70s. Be better. And this person who caused half of this stuff, I mean it's absolutely ridiculous. We saw the officer mention the obstructing charge. We saw the green stuff arrest or the other subject. And this all was completely preventable. And then you have the chaos companion talking all this nonsense making it even worse for everyone else. Shout out to everyone who watches this as a parent child duo. Really [music] good stuff.
