Stop grabbing [ __ ] out of my car. >> Back up. >> Back up. >> If you get close to me again, I'm going to put you in here. >> Police interactions in the middle of a breakup can make a bad breakup even worse. Especially if you decide not to pull over after the police turn on their red lights, refuse several lawful commands from the officer. And then the ex shows up in the middle of the stop and begins to argue with the officers and he too gets placed in handcuffs. This is one of those. >> Why are you getting out of the car? Step back. Step back. Step back. I did not tell you to get out of the car. You're going to tase me. >> Walk to the back of your car. >> You're going to tase me. >> Walk to the back of your car. >> You're going to tase me. >> Walk to the back of your car. >> Shoot me. Why don't you >> walk to the back of your car? >> Shoot me. >> To the back. >> To the back of your car. >> Scott, >> turn around. >> Good for I don't feel safe. I'm going to call >> Turn around. Do not reach into your bag. I will tase you if you reach into your bag. Turn around. >> Okay. You see this, right? Turn around. >> I will drop my bag for you. Are you a newbie? How long you been on the forest, dude? >> You're the whole thing, right? That's my neighbor. >> Turn around. >> Turn around. Place your hands behind your head. >> For what? >> Place your hands behind your head. >> Place your hands behind your >> Place your hands what? >> You're driving off the side of the roadway. >> You didn't use your turn signal and you're speeding when you pass me, right? You're kidding. >> I've ordered you multiple times to turn around and place your hands behind your head. Now turn around and put your hands behind your head. >> Can I get my boyfriend? >> No. Put your hands behind your head. Are you an adult? >> I'm 35 years old. >> Okay. You're an adult. Then you can do this yourself. >> A mother of three. >> Look, ma'am. I don't want to hurt you, but if you don't listen to me, I'm going to have to. >> You're going to tase me? >> Okay. Couple of things to notice here. The officer got on the radio and said code four, which means that he's okay prior to him having to draw his taser. So, he slowed anyone down because she didn't initially stop. So, you don't have officers running code him, which I really like that he did that. One thing that I noticed is that he went to tas her when she goes into her purse. Is he fearful that she's going for potentially a firearm? Then are we two hands on taser against a firearm? It's a draw. If she knows how to draw very quickly, I'm not sure his reasoning, but it's an interesting force level choice when the concern is reaching inside of a bag. >> I will have to if you don't listen to me. >> Place your hands behind your head. >> You're a little pumped up. Why are you squeezing my hands so hard? because you keep not listening to me. Stop, please. Stop. >> Do you know who it is? >> Okay. Well, you smell like alcohol, too. Maybe that's why you're swerving all over the road. >> Mhm. You know who Dennis Ward is? Why don't you call him? >> I don't need to call Dennis Ward. >> Well, why don't you? >> Because I don't need to. >> Well, you might have to. >> What does he have to do with this traffic sign? >> Uh, if Cuz if you take me to jail, it might uh Yeah. >> Blow. Go ahead. Let me blow. >> You're joking. How long you been on the force? What? You're uh you're Bro, you're new. >> Okay, >> you're so new. I'm seventh generation Peruian. You probably >> Please, please stay. >> Getting some booze indicators by her manner of speech. Kind of slurring and messing up some of the words and he said that he smelled it. So, he's on track here and this is good. >> He's talking to me like a dog. Stay or what? >> Okay. Well, I've given you orders as a normal human and you don't seem to respond. >> No, you're not. You're talking to me like I'm an animal. Like a dog. Sit. Stay. Like, look at your hand pressing on me. Bro, you have to touch me. >> I'm not a criminal. I don't have drugs on me, dude. I don't have any pot any search my car. No, >> stop. >> Please call your supervisor. >> No. >> Why? >> Because I don't need to. >> Call your supervisor. >> I don't need to. >> I think you do. >> Do you have anything else on you? >> No, I don't. >> What kind of police state is this, dude? I hate this, man. You're not. Are you really? >> Yeah, you're going to jail. >> Going to jail for what? My purse. >> Resistance. Yes. >> I'm going to jail for resistance. >> When you don't listen to >> get my cash out of my purse so I can make bonds. >> Sit down. >> Holy. Are you serious? >> Yeah. You're going to jail >> for what? >> First off, you're drunk and you're driving a car. >> I'm not drunk and drive. Let me blow. >> Be that as it may. You're resisting. >> Can I blow? >> No. Not right now. >> I know my rights. >> Okay, fantastic. Well, one of your rights is your right to remain silent. I suggest you do that right now. >> Can I put your feet? Let my boyfriend know to come pick me up. >> No, you can call him at the jail. Put your feet. >> I don't know his phone number. My phone's dead. What's your name? >> Darla. >> Darla. I'm John. Okay. I need you to put your feet up and make sure I'm not a criminal. You can't just take me like this. >> I can actually. >> Kids and a job. Like, >> okay. >> Can we talk? >> Can you put your feet in the car? >> Can we have a talk? Can my purse? >> Yep. I'll get it. >> Can we have a talk? Please don't take me to jail. Are you serious? >> Yes. You're going to jail, Darla. >> Can you get all the money out of my my my feet? >> I need my money out of my um >> I need you to put your feet. I got to make bail, bro. Please, can you get my money? >> Please let me, >> like, get a ticket, please. I'm a good outstanding citizen. I'm a mother of three. I'm a member of this community. I work for Del Rose. Like, I'm trying to do real estate. Trying to do better with my life. I'm not drunk. I'll blow it for you. Like, I'm good. It just pan. It sc You scared me. I'm not going to lie. Um, I've been dating this guy that lives here for about six months. Um, yeah. We just got in a fight and I was coming here to get my stuff. >> Okay. And his name is Scott. >> Scott what? >> Scott, you can actually come with me to get my stuff. We just got to be fighting. I'm moving out. >> Okay. Well, your response to all of this was not correct. Well, I'm >> I tried to pull you over way back there when you turned and then you you kind of >> up with me and I'm coming to get my stuff. >> Yeah, >> but when I have my lights on and then I put the siren on, you speed away from me. >> I didn't see you. >> Okay. Well, >> I'm sorry. I had the music up and I'm crying. He just broke up with me at the Gas station. We went to Wind Dixie, >> our office. We worked for Kell Williams next to the liquor store and he was like, "It's over." And I was coming to get my stuff. >> So frequently officers are in the middle of these breakup things cuz people get upset. They drive to the other person's location. They're angry. Those kind of car stops are actually quite frequent. The other thing is that she mentioned that she didn't notice he was behind her. Now, most people say, "Oh, BS." And maybe it was BS, but I know legitimately there have been people that I've went to pull over and they keep going because either they're boozed out or because they have the music really loud and they're not paying attention and driving. Doesn't matter. All those things are horrifically bad if you don't know that there's a marked police car with their lights and siren on behind you. But it does occasionally happen. >> Well, the thing is your response to everything that just happened, I have to take you to jail. >> Okay. >> Can I at least get my wallet so I can pay to get out of jail? >> Yeah, I'm bringing your purse and your hat and stuff. >> My wallet's in my glove box. >> And your glove box? >> There's a wallet. >> Okay. So, for right now, you're definitely >> at least tell him like to come get me cuz I don't want to walk from QS. >> I thought you guys just broke up. He's going to come pick you up. I'm sure if I'd hope so. >> You smell like alcohol. >> I'm going to be stuck in Key West and I'm either going to be walking or I would hope that you would let him know to come pick me up. I would hope he come pick me up. >> Okay, we'll let him know. >> You can see this guy is struggling to see how laws actually work. Just like how every year millions of people struggle to find the right Medicare plan that works for them, which is exactly why today's video is sponsored by Chapter. You can see it's no secret how confusing Medicare plans are designed has led countless people to end up on the wrong plan without even realizing it. But Chapter was built to fix that exact problem as they connect you with completely independent adviserss who will compare every available plan available to you to help you find what's right for your situation. [music] The call to them is completely free and it only takes about 20 minutes and on average, Chapter saves seniors around $1,100 per year. So call Chapter today at 844-5336078. That number again, 844-5336078. And it doesn't cost you anything. >> Don't call my car. Wait, Scott, please don't call my car. >> Hey, man. What's going on? >> Hey, Scott. >> What's going on, Scott? >> Please. >> Hello. Is that your girlfriend, Darla? >> It is. So, she's going to go to jail for what? Well, she tried to run from me and then she got out of her car and started coming towards me and I gave her a lot of orders to go back to her car and turn around and she wouldn't do it. >> Copy a suicide threat racist. >> I guess not. You guys did your job, huh? Yeah, she's going to go to Key West. What was she getting pulled over for? >> A lot of different things that don't concern you. She's an adult. >> I get that, but she is my concern. So, you should owe me some answers. >> Are you dude? >> I'm not. >> Talk to me. >> Talk to me. I need to know what's going on. >> She's an adult. >> Okay, so a couple things. First, I noticed that the officer immediately got out of the car when he saw that Scott, who she was calling, came up. Sometimes officers engage with people while they're still sitting in the car. It's bad business. It's good he got out. Officer safety. You don't want to be sitting inside the car with someone on top of you. Now, the one challenge is I would think that flipping positions where the officer is where Scott's standing and Scott is where the officer is and maybe pull him out of earshot so she doesn't set him off cuz a lot of times listening to her might set her off and he might be trying to put on a show to impress her still and just might have that kind of personality. I don't know. I'm not sure. But we definitely want to flip sides because we want to see oncoming traffic be out of the way, out of earshot, and still see what's going on with her inside the car. I know we have another officer, but flipping positions in my opinion would be a safer manner to engage with this guy right here. I get that. >> You see what she's doing right now, right? This is what she's going to jail. >> That's not illegal behavior. >> It is illegal. >> That's not Knocking on the door is not illegal. >> If I tell you this badge and these lights on, if I tell you, >> actually, there has to be there has to be a crime committed. >> There has to be a crime committed for you to arrest somebody, right? >> Okay. >> On what suspect? What crime did she commit for you to arrest? >> Again, she's an adult. I don't need to explain. >> You do. You do. You do. What? What? >> As a as an employee to me, you need to >> An employee to you. >> You I pay taxes, right? >> So, Scott, Scott, we're done. Scott, we're done talking. >> No, no, we're not. >> Unless you want to go in the back of my car as well. >> For what crime? >> Well, because I told you we're done talking right now, I'm doing it. >> That's not illegal. That's not illegal to talk to this way. >> Okay. Well, you're standing in the middle of the street right now. >> So, are you? I'm on a traffic stop. >> Oh my god. Oh my god. Dude, seriously, you're pulling every bit. What crime did she commit? Again, you're not her lawyer. She's an adult. >> She doesn't need a lawyer right now. She needs to understand her rights as a basic human explain. >> Yes, you do. Yes, you do. What crimes did she commit? What kind? >> Yes, you do. Then tell her that. >> Tell her that. >> Let me hear it. >> No. >> Yeah. >> Okay. Let's stop here and look at this officer's face and kind of his demeanor. He looks very young. And younger looking officers, I mean, it's great to look young and have youthful [music] skin, but people challenge younger officers. They just automatically assume they're rookies. Sometimes they're not. And if that's the case, a lot of times people don't want to be spoken to from a rookie or a younger person, and it causes some challenges. So rookie sometimes or younger looking officers have difficult challenges interacting with people because they assume because they have a baby face that they're a baby. This officer is definitely not a baby. And he's doing a pretty good job at interacting. There are some things that I noticed that he'll probably pick up as his career grows. But that's one of the challenge of having the younglook face. [music] >> So here's the thing. You're not the deciding factor. You're no you're nothing involved in violating. Okay. And you can read in the report and that's what the justice system is for. That's why she goes to court. That's why she has a first appearance. >> A crime. >> That's why she talks to a judge. >> What crime did she commit? >> He just explained it to you for getting out of >> lawful commands. She's detained from the traffic stop. He doesn't have to tell you why he stopped her. You weren't in the car. So >> you're you're not necessity this. Okay. >> Okay. >> You're just a boyfriend. Okay. I just I'm just a boyfriend. And you're >> political figure that I paid by the way. >> Well, let me hold 20 bucks up. Dude, you're a >> [ __ ] man. Damn. >> Don't act like a little. >> Don't act like a little. >> Big words for a public figure. >> For a public employee, >> dude. Again, what crime did she commit by getting out of her vehicle? >> All right. I think we're done here. I'm going to do the seat. >> Yep. >> So, we're towing the car. Okay. So, you can't go over the car. >> When you get arrested for what? >> For grant. I'm telling you not to go to the car right now. >> For what? What crime is going for? >> That vehicle is seized now. Okay. It's being towed. How? It was used in a crime. Okay. >> Crime. >> So, let me explain something to you called pop, which is pissing off the police. And people who do this thing that this guy's doing, there's a charge that the police can find to take this guy to jail. 100% I'm sure that police can find a charge. Pissing off the police. The Pop charge. It exists. It's usually some type of obstructing, standing in the streets. What? Something cuz this guy is being really arrogant, rude, and obstructing their investigation legitimately because he's staying in the street stopping them from doing what they're doing. He's walking himself into a VOP type of arrest. Not good for this guy. I don't have to tell you that. She's a big girl. She's an adult. You're not her lawyer. You're not her father. >> And you're acting like a child, dude. How old are you? 24. >> No, I'm I'm 16. >> I It sounds like it. >> Sometimes the sarcasm back from the cop doesn't necessarily work. I would suggest that officers stay away from the sarcasm cuz he just lost that volley. >> What crime? So I can at least be informed. >> I have to tell you that I have to tell you that. >> Why not? >> Because I don't let me let me hear you inform her of what crimes she's being committed. Again, I don't have to do that either. >> Why not? >> Because I don't have to. >> You're not my >> It sounds like you're not doing your jobs very well. >> Okay, then make a complaint. My name is Deputy Jonathan Lane. >> Right here. I don't have a badge number, but if you'd like, I can give you my name on a business card. >> You got a card? >> Yeah, I'll give you a business card with my name on it. You can call and complain if you want. >> You got a card, too? >> Or you're not old enough yet? >> I don't stop. >> Not at all. >> Oh, are you threatened? >> Yeah. >> In my business attire, are you threatened with guns on you? >> But I'm about to turn around. >> Yeah. Okay, good one. You guys are so tough here in Monroe County. >> Oh, yeah. >> Toughest. >> I see your hands shaking there. You do this often. >> Yeah. >> Yeah, I can tell. >> Babe, don't get arrested. >> Now I'm getting back up. >> Really? >> You want to take him, too? >> What crime is this one? >> We keep telling you to stay back. >> I just asked for her personal protection. >> You're throwing stuff on the ground. You smell like alcohol. You're obviously drunk. >> I'm allowed to be. Am I driving? Am I committing a crime? >> No, but I told you already. I don't want you coming up to me because I feel >> questions. >> Okay. >> In my business attire, bro. Dude, I'm in business attire. >> Scott, I'll give you one last chance. If you want to walk away, >> I just want her keys personal perception. >> If she wants you to have that, she will say that. This is up to her. >> Ask her. >> Okay, we will ask her. You don't walk up like that acting crazy. Littering. Literally. I gave you That's littering. If you want to be technical, that's your ball in your fist up when you walk up to us. You'll I watch the body cam. I'll watch the body cam. >> I watched you do it. You said >> okay. You said I got one last chance. Can I have her personal possessions? >> We really don't need to take both cuz you're upset about [ __ ] >> So, I need you to calm down. >> Wasting my time. Calm down. >> Quit wasting my time. Are you going to calm down? >> I'm calm. I'm talking in a calm fashion. >> Okay. >> Yeah. >> Can I have her personal possessions? She wants them. I will ask her. >> You should ask her. >> Okay. This is a traffic stop though. Okay. I Okay, let me talk for a second. Okay. I conducted a traffic stop on her. >> Okay. You have nothing to do with the traffic stop. >> Okay. >> If you show up on a traffic stop that I'm legally and lawfully conducting and I tell you to walk away because you're interfering with my traffic stop. >> That is handcuffs though. >> That is obstruction still. >> Okay. >> We're still on a traffic stop. I'm telling you not to go to the car because we're towing it. You're saying no. You start walking away. >> Say no to it. You come back over to us in an aggressive manner making asking for personal position. >> Grab the card out of his hand and throw it on the ground and turn towards me and put your arm inside of my car. I'm not doing that. Scott, >> do you understand? >> Sure. >> We can take you to jail, too. We can make this as inconvenient for both of you. I don't want to do that. >> Can you ask her if I can have her [ __ ] >> Yeah. >> This could have been all solved just like that. Don't talk to me. Well, you're something. Why not? >> I will, babe. We got to figure it out. >> 25. >> Stop. >> That's our personal [ __ ] >> Stop. >> Okay. >> Stop. Stop grabbing [ __ ] out of my car. Back up. Go away now. This is your last chance, dude. You're going to grab [ __ ] out of my back up. >> Back up. >> Back up. >> Back up. Yeah, I'm telling you to back up. You're running over to me, walking up behind me, grabbing out of my car to me. >> Stop. >> Goodbye. >> If you get closer to me again, >> I'm going to put you in here. >> Goodbye. Goodbye. >> Don't let the baby face fool you. He stepped up and handled business. It's a challenge that fa the baby face officers have to deal with. I'm glad that he used his command presence and set the guy straight. That guy should have went to jail in my opinion, but again, I'm not on the scene. Um, I shouldn't say you should have went to jail, but in a lot of cases, he would have went to jail. >> Hey, but we don't have the tow receipt done yet. >> We don't have the tow receipt done yet. If you could just give me like 2 3 minutes. >> Tow company, what's your address so they can >> No, no. Phone number. Phone number. >> Yeah. The rest of it is something right there. >> Well, tell her she's not getting her car back then. >> Okay. Well, you might not get your car back if you don't give me your phone number for them to call you. >> Okay. Well, you is the answer to that one. So, >> all right. Check my eye. Is it 976 or last four? >> All right, bro. That's it for me. >> Just put that. If it's not right, then whatever. No, no, it's what it is. Yeah. >> Sorry. This is hurting really bad. Can you just like >> like un turn you're turning your hands? >> It's so tight. Can you un loose it just a little bit, please? >> It's hurting. I need to stop kicking in the back. >> Okay. But it's this is really hurting my hands. I have a disability and can you please a little bit please? I have lupus. Can you just loosen it up a little bit please? Okay. Are you >> you >> when a person is constantly requesting that their handcuffs be loosened, it's sometimes just because they're uncomfortable. Handcuffs aren't made to be comfortable. However, it is important [music] that you do the procedure properly. I didn't see exactly the entire process that he did, and I've shown it before. So, most people don't know that this little point on the end of a handcuff key, that's to double lock the cuffs. It's either to punch the little hole here or to switch a little slide to double lock them and then check the handcuff to make sure that they're not too tight. As a sergeant, one of the most common complaints that I would get is a person complaining that their handcuffs were too tight and that the officer didn't check them. So, it's important as a matter of practice to verbalize it. Especially when you have body cam, it's a lot easier to see that those procedures [music] were conducted. >> I can't wait to go to court. I hope you show up. This will be great. I'm going to make a documentary. Actually, you have to turn up some AC or let me go out of these cuffs, bro. I'm about to pass out. I have a disability. I am suing Monroe Moroning County. That's it. That's it. We're done. We're done. This is a racket. This is a racket. They only take cash. No paper trail. You guys are They're on your It's funny how quick he came, right? And then they only take cash when I go pick up my [ __ ] I can't I'm going to document this [ __ ] It's going all over the internet. Your face. We're going to be famous, bro. I've been waiting for This is it. This is This is >> I'm going to stop. Let me just I'm gonna Please don't take my car. I live there. I've lived there for six months. DON'T TAKE MY CAR. I'VE LIVED THERE FOR SIX MONTHS. Please don't take my car. I can prove I live there. You're going to tow me out of my own driveway. >> People freak out over their car getting towed. It's amazing to me that going to jail sometimes is less of a challenge for them than getting their car towed. It's a strange thing that I've seen many times in policing. >> You want me to pull your strap up? Okay. >> Do you have anything else on you that the jail staff needs to know about? >> No, we have stuff. >> Okay. All right. We're going to go to the right. Just one second. I'm going to check your eyes real quick. >> All right. In here. >> I don't have to comply. >> No. I'm going to ask you to do field sobriety exercises. >> Take my blood or take my breath. >> Okay. That's not how >> it's already You should have done this when you pulled me over on the side of the road. You should have got me to go out and do all that like monkeying around in the road. You should have done that there cuz now I'm stuck here and I can't go. So why would I cooperate with you? >> Okay. So you don't want to do the field sobriety exercises? >> I'm already in handcuffs. We're in jail, bud. This is too tight. Come on. >> Yeah, but I don't know if you're DUI or not. >> Take my my breath or my blood. >> That's not how it works. >> Can you undo this? >> No, not right now. >> A little bit. Can you loosen it up and I'll cooperate with you because it's too tight. >> If I take the handcuffs off, are you going to do anything dumb? >> It works. I swear to God, bro. I'm already in jail. What am I going to do? I promise. Okay, >> please. Thank you. >> Oh, look at that. Is Is that running? No. No. Look at that. Is this okay? Is this I get it. You're hurting me, bro. >> I know. But what did I just say? >> What did I just say, though? >> You You like this. This is You get off on this. >> Okay. Now, I got to put you back in these because I just told you, >> are you going to do anything stupid and you just start pulling away from me? That's why I had you in handcuffs and I wouldn't loosen them at first because you were just going to do what you just did, >> bro. Come on. >> Okay. Fantastic. So, the one exercise I can do with you is called the uh horizontal gaze nestagmus test where I look at your eyes. Do you want to do that? >> If you loosen these up a little bit, I >> This is almost so loose that you can slip your hand out of it. >> Yes. Look at my eyes, please. >> So, if we get close enough, we can see if there's a nice stagmus, which I've explained HGN in many of my videos where you look at a stimulus and we're checking for tracking, checking at 45° and max deviation. If this gets close enough, we're going to see [music] if there's any involuntary jerking of the eyes, which is would be the nice stagmus. So, what I'm going to do is I'm just going to check your eyes. Okay. Have you ever done this before where I I hold >> Okay. >> I'm not drunk, dude. >> Okay. Well, like I said, you smell like alcohol. So, I just need to make sure you're not drunk. >> Yeah. >> Okay. So, all I'm going to do is have you look at the tip of my finger right there. You see it? >> Mhm. >> I'm just going to have you follow the tip of my finger with your eyes and do not move your head. >> Okay. >> Do you understand? Yes. >> So, just your eyes. Don't move your head. Okay. Yeah. Done. Just a minute. >> Okay. I don't think you're over the legal limit either. I'm going to turn you over to them. I'm not going to charge you a deal. >> It looks like we saw a couple of charges. We saw the fleeing and the looting and we saw a resisting charge at the officer place. It was a little strange to see him do the HGN with her handcuffed sitting in the jail and he made the determination that there was no nistagmus. So he doesn't believe that she was impaired when she was driving and obviously that's his call. But it's really unfortunate when you see people who are going through a horrific thing already then they interact with the police and make it way worse and it happened so many times and she could have made this so different had she complied with the officer initially and the boyfriend didn't make it any better. And he's very fortunate that he didn't get locked up too. You know someone who's potentially going through a bad breakup or who could potentially be this defiant when they get pulled over by the police. send this video to them cuz hopefully this can be that beacon or warning sign for them [music] to make better choices.
