Good news, Jeff. >> That's what you're telling us to do. Sign it. >> In policing, we often run into people who no matter what you do, they're going to cause an issue. Some of them push it so far that even on a misdemeanor car stop, they talk themselves and beg to be placed in handcuffs. This is one of those. >> What did I do, man? Are you stopping me because I'm a trans woman? >> Okay, first of all, I'm officer transer with the Atlanta Police Department. Do you have your license or registration? >> Do I have to give you this? What is the infractions I did? >> That's not how this works. Give me your license and registration and proof of insurance. >> Give this to you. I want to know the reason why I stop. >> As soon as you provide the documents I've requested. No, ma'am. That's not how this works. >> We're really in the very fresh part of this stop and I can see that this is going south. We had this same thing and this is seems like it's Orlando PD where the person was demanding that the officer tell them why they were stopped. The officer says, "Give me your information first." The best practice is to do that, but you don't have to. So, this is where we are. Interestingly, it's Orlando. And I think I did that video a couple weeks back. I'm at the last part of your surgery, please. >> And I didn't do nothing wrong. >> Nothing wrong. >> Okay. >> You just hit me because you saw my face. >> Ma'am, I've never even met you. >> Okay. >> I don't know who you are. Do you have your license, registration, and proof of insurance? I'm going to ask you one more time and then this is going to go a completely different way. >> You going to arrest me? >> If you would refuse [laughter] to give me the documents I've requested, yes, we're going to go down that road. >> What is my infractions? I will give you. >> That's not how that works. >> No, that's how exactly. This is my traffic stop and you are not going to dictate how this is done. >> Ma'am, officer, I am not complaining about you stopping me. I'm asking you my right to know why you have stopped me. What is my instruction? >> I already explained to you three times now. >> I am not going to provide the documents if I did not commit a crime. >> That's fine. >> Period. >> Okay. >> Because you are discriminating on me. >> Okay. >> Okay. Here's my driver license. That's your going to give you just to verify who you're dealing with. I'm a very wellknown here. >> Okay. >> And I'm going to call Bett Meer right now. >> Why do you have three different licenses? >> Did you just say what I said? >> I didn't actually. >> You didn't because you don't care. See, you don't care about people. >> Okay. >> Yeah. >> I'm sorry you feel that way. >> No. >> Can I see your other ones as well, please? >> No, you cannot. >> It's a crime to have more than one. >> It's not a crime. This is my my license and I'm not going to give it to you. >> Okay. Most jurisdictions having more than one driver license is a crime. So I don't know what that was that this person was holding, but we'll figure that out as it goes on. >> Do you have the registration and proof of insurance as well, >> Miss Maria? >> First of all, I'm a doctor and I I earned that because I study antiviral physics and I save so many officer in the chest and I regret it since I met you. >> Okay. I'm sorry that big stink out of this. >> I'm sorry you fell that way. >> I did not do nothing. Okay. You just st me because I was low starting on the red because the guy was telling me that my my tire is leaking. >> Okay. >> It's a temporary permit. >> Yes, it is a registration. >> This is a temporary permit receipt. The registration comes from the tax. >> Why are you doing this to me? >> It comes from the tax collector's office. >> Why are you doing this to me? I mean right there. >> I just want to make a quick tactical note that this officer is doing something very well. And you've heard me say this in my other videos. When the officer stands right on the door, right, face to face, this officer is standing back. So the driver has to turn their head and look back. So the officer maintains the tactical advantage. Thumbs up on that positioning from the officer. >> You make me shaking in my boots for nothing. I committ it. Please stop it. I'm asking you please on my knees. Stop it. >> I also got a supervisor. Please >> you know just just for your record I'm coming from my husband which is I'm sorry that I am out of my mind. >> Okay. Well again I've asked you three times for the registration and your proof of insurance. >> I know what registration is it. >> Do you have your proof of insurance? >> I do have my proof of insurance. >> Okay. If you if you want to follow me, please in my condominium. >> No, ma'am. I am not going to follow you to your house. >> You guys stop in our condominium all the time at night. >> Okay. >> We give you permission to stop in our condominium. Fair you ground. >> Well, you continue to look for those documents and uh I'll be right back. >> So, you can see in all the videos that go up. Some officers are a lot more congenial and interact on this more social level and that can be good. But I've explained to you that there's those deputy don't play thats and this officer is that type of person. Very matter of fact about the business. This is how it goes down. It's interesting to see how this is going to go going forward. >> As you can see, her tag is flipped up clearly indicating that there's no way to read the tag. >> I get my driver license. >> Okay, but at no point does it say that we're required to explain anything to you about the reason for the stop. >> I want to be explained. I ask why did you stop me? >> Well, that would be an explanation, right? >> But why did you stop me? >> I just told you three times your license plate is tucked up into your Mercedes symbol. >> Okay, so that is what the Orlando Police Department stopped. a cardiothoracic surgeon on his way from the hospital just because you don't like the Mercedes, you don't like the face, and my plate discovery, which I don't even know because this is a brand new car. >> The driver identified themselves initially as a transgender, but in this interaction used the pronoun his when people get on police for making those mistakes. Understand that this person is transgender and just gendered themsel his in that interaction. So, take note of things when you see these videos. >> Are you the supervisor? >> No. No, I'm not. >> This is horrible. My first time in 62 years. I'm 62 years of age and I couldn't ever stop for no reason. >> All right. The supervisor's on the way. So >> I'm a thoracic card surgeon at Pantel. I'm on call and I've been call from the hospital. My patient is I need to go. >> What we going to do is >> uh let me go ask real quick. >> So she said that she is a surgeon at Advent Health >> and she just said that she got a text from the hospital that her patient has done that she needs to respond to me. going to have to wait till my turn. >> I know there's got to be some people are going to say, "I don't care when the person says that." Because maybe the officer just doesn't believe that this person is a surgeon. I forgot what kind of surgeon they said. Should the response be, "I don't care." In the comments section, let me know what you think. >> Hello there. How are you? >> Fine. >> I'm the supervisor. And is that what you requested? >> Do you want to come out and talk to me in private or do you want to talk in your car? Whatever you're most comfortable with. >> Whatever. >> I'm good either way. >> I don't even know. It's my first time in life. 60 years of age. I'd rather be >> Yeah. Let's talk face to face. It's better that way sometimes. >> It was a guy, a black guy. >> Okay. >> Talk to me. You put down the window and it was seen on me and there was a red light as you know. So, I put down the window and the guy told me, "Look, you're losing air from your tire. That tire right there." Meanwhile, I already been green light, you know, on the things. Maybe I was 15 seconds late because the guy was talking to me. I was talking to him and so she got upset. I don't know what what the story was. So I just took off. No speed, no nothing. Yeah. >> Very calm. >> And she started to like driving like this close to me. >> Yeah. Yeah. >> And I just pushed the brake. I said, "Why are you?" And she just turned the blue light. >> I said, "Me? What did I do?" >> Right. >> So I stop in here and she start to attack me. >> What What do you When you say attack, what do you mean by attack? >> Attack through a verbal attack. Of course, not not physical. >> What did she say to attack? >> First I say, "Okay, officer, I'm here. What did I do wrong? You have to give me wrong registration." I said, "Okay, fine. Miss you have a lesson." But the old beast of all this that she got so pissed off with me is because I was just knowing and the guy told me that I was losing air from my I didn't nothing else. >> Right. Right. >> I have never experienced this in my life. >> Okay. >> But it is very normal for a sis woman to treat somebody like me this way. >> The accent of this individual is very difficult to understand. But I noticed that they just said it's normal for a sis woman to treat a person like me this way. So for those of you who don't understand what the driver was saying is that cis meaning a female or person who looks like the gender that they are when they see a transgender person that they treat him in a I guess a defamatory or derogatory manner. This was just the assumption that this person made. I didn't see that and police run into this very very frequently and it's a huge challenge in policing and it seems to be getting more challenging as the days go by. >> I think maybe you guys got off on the wrong terms. So let me let me let's let's reset it here and just kind of can kind of go back. Okay. So the reason you got pulled over I understand it's a new car. You know, you're there's >> you don't have everything situated yet. It takes >> No, I got the document there because, you know, Car Max just sent me the car. It just arrived yesterday. Well, >> I just put the gas on it. >> So, she wasn't able to see the tag. That was the reason for the stop. You actually aren't allowed to have more than one driver's license. That actually is >> it's not a driver license. It's is an ID. >> Okay. >> I don't have any idea what Okay. >> You know, I don't think she was trying to push that issue with you. And I think she was trying >> I'm not saying I'm not saying I'm just saying why you have to start this way. I was very nice. I don't understand that. >> I understand. I just don't understand normal crimes. >> Keep in mind, so she's one of our she works uh if she's attack officer. So she works in our really bad neighborhoods and stuff like that. >> So she works in I guess a more dangerous crimeinfested area. I guess the excuse that's being made is that she's not used to dealing with people like this person who's claiming to be a doctor. Tactically, you can be just as sound with everybody cuz you don't know who you're dealing with. Anyone can pull out a arm or engage you in a fight. We see this all the time. I think that she's just very matter of fact and she's about her business. So, I don't know that it has to do with what area you work. You can treat people with respect in every area you work in and still be tactically sound, ready to take care of business at the drop of time. So, >> I overreacted because I said, "Well, what the hell did I do?" I did not know that the plate could not be seen >> because I just turned the camera and I just broke my glove compartment. Then I noticed that basically the the plate went, you know, with with air, I think. >> That's okay. So, what's the verdict here? >> Okay. It's a criminal citation. She has to sign it. She has uh the court date is on the bottom. >> Sign where the X is. >> The attached tag is not assigned. So this tag, as you can see, we got a Missouri. This car is not registered. It's an unregistered motor vehicle. This tag is not assigned to this vehicle. You're not the registered owner of this vehicle either. This vehicle comes back out of Wisconsin, not Missouri. >> You're telling me that I stole this vehicle. I was >> That's not what I'm saying. I did not say the vehicle stole. I said the tag is not assigned to the vehicle. The attached tag that you have on this vehicle is not assigned. >> So which tag is attached to? Not this. It's not registered. There's no tag assigned to it whatsoever. >> 10 of 24. >> We are in April of 25. >> The vehicle is not registered. >> That is a criminal offense. You can be going to jail. >> That's fine. That's fine. >> Instead of me taking you to jail, I wrote you a criminal citation to go to court. >> No, you can take me to court. >> I am. It's right here. >> Well, that's only You want to take me to court? >> It's only if you >> I'm going to follow you. >> Go ahead. >> Please do it. >> You can sign right there. >> That's another Do you see how she talks? I think she's just being straight with No, she sent me if you don't sign this, I will take you to jail. I have never been in jail in my life. >> Citation. >> You have to sign it. >> Since it's a criminal uh ticket, you're you're by law. You're required. >> I'm not going to sign. I'm not going to stop. >> Okay, hold on a second. Let's Let's >> take me Take me to jail. Take me to jail. >> I'm going to pull anymore. Take me to jail. Let's go. Let's go. Come on. Let's go. >> Let's go. Let's go. Take me to jail. >> Take me to jail. >> If that's the route you want to go, we can go that route. >> Sure. I have not done nothing. I have not done nothing. Nothing. >> Ma'am, >> take me to jail. >> Want to go? >> Yeah, we'll hang on your >> back. >> Are you serious? >> Yeah. >> Are you Are you serious? >> That's what you're telling us to do? >> All right. So, wait a second. Okay, I'll sign it. >> Wait. No, we're not going to do that. >> I apologize. Please. >> How this works? >> Can we talk a little bit? >> Okay. I was an [ __ ] I was an ass. >> You didn't leave us a choice. >> No, I am. >> I'll go around the other side. >> Ma'am, can we talk? >> I I gave you the chance. >> I know. Sorry. >> Okay. I wasn't because I'm a surgeon. Can I ma'am? Can I speak with you, ma'am? Please. Please. Listen. I leave. Please. >> You left my choice. >> Please. I'm sorry. >> Don't do this to me. I'm sorry. >> If you were to check off the boxes of talking themsel into jail, not just talking themsel, actually putting their hands up saying, "Take me to jail." And this person was obliged. The female officer that conducted a stop, tactical, hair in the bun, all about business. From a tactical perspective, I think that she did a phenomenal job. Is it easier sometimes just to tell the person why you pulled them over? Could that have potentially stopped this from escalating with this person? I doubt it. I think this person was just looking for an issue. So, they were going to end up going by the way that they acted because you had the corporal that showed up that was super calm, super collected, super trying to plate the person in every way. It just didn't work. However, starting with that with other people may be a way that you can deescalate the situation. Most people don't realize that signing a citation isn't admitting you're guilty. It's just stating that you'll appear in court. If you refuse to sign a citation, they take you right to jail because that means that you want to see a magistrate and that is the direct route to seeing a judge. Hopefully this individual was driving this vehicle makes better choices. I don't know if they're a surgeon or not and the behavior is just not someone that I think endemic of what I see of people in the medical field.
