On October 5th, 2024, an officer from the Hartford Police Department attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a minibike. The operator fled through yards and the officer lost visual of the bike. Officers located the minibike again, but quickly lost sight of it. A review of security camera footage showed a clear shot of the operator's face. Officers then shared the footage with employees at the Hartford High School, and two employees advised that the suspect looked like a former student. As officers were in route to his address, officers observed a male on a bicycle and realized that it was the suspect. While stopping to question him, the suspect flipped officers and fled on his bicycle. >> Hey, stop. >> Oh my god, dude. >> Yeah, >> that's a freedom of speech, dude. >> 610 county. We'll come back for your bike. >> We're just going to stand right here. >> No, we're going to come back to your bike. >> We don't need to do anything, dude. >> Cool. Freedom of speed. So, I can flip anybody off I want. >> Yeah. I don't think that's the problem here, though. >> Yeah. What's the problem? >> We'll explain it to you. >> I didn't do nothing wrong, dude. I live right there, dude. >> He was getting kind of squirly. I just put him in handcuffs earlier. >> Squirly. I'm trying to pick my bike up, dude. Okay, there you go. >> Can you take my jacket off or No. Or just like put >> the cuffs are already. >> Can you put my shoulder like my shoulder things down? Is >> that better? I'm steaming. Appreciate it. >> Okay. I'll turn the AC on, too, for you. All right. >> How do you say your name, sir? >> Nemana. >> Nemana. Okay. >> Can't believe this is happening right now. >> All right. Well, since you're under arrest, I have to read this to you. Okay. >> So, I need you to pay attention. Can you hear me? Okay. >> Yes, sir. >> Okay. You have the right to remain silent. So, with those being read to you, do you understand your rights? >> Yes, sir. >> Okay. Do you have any questions? >> No, sir. >> Okay. With those rights in mind, do you want to talk to me? >> Not right now, sir. >> Okay. Right. Then I'll tell you what you're under arrest for. You are under arrest for fleeing alerting an officer >> on a bike >> and obstruction. [Music] >> Obstruction and resisting. >> No. >> What do you mean no? >> I can't ask you any questions about it. So, you have to talk to the you have to talk to the judge about it. >> Okay. >> But how long am I arrested for? Am I even going >> You'll see a judge on Monday. >> Yeah. >> What? Dude, I'm going to jail, dude. >> I'll tell you this, okay? cuz >> they're being cooperative now. Okay. >> It's It's for yesterday's incident. >> He's wearing the same clothes. >> Yeah. Is it flipflops? >> Well, what picture What shirt is he wearing? >> N it's a different shirt. >> Same shorts. >> Yeah. >> I'll explain this to you and then I'll check the cuffs. Okay. All right. Just cuz I didn't check. All right. So, I'll explain. You got two municipal citations. >> So, two of them two of them are for in municipal court. So, city court. Okay. The first one is for non-registration of other vehicle cuz it is a motorized vehicle. >> If it's under 50 cc, it doesn't need to be registered. >> You can't operate on the roadway. >> Exactly. >> And you operate it on the roadway. Okay. Yesterday's incident. >> Reckless endangering safety. That's because you almost hit someone on the sidewalk. I have camera footage of that. Okay. Same court date for these two. It's going to be November 19th, 2024 at 1:30 p.m. It's not required that you go, but I would suggest you do. >> 900 >> $923. Correct. >> And then this one's $187. >> Okay. Those ones can just be paid, but this one is a felony citation. Okay. >> That's on my record forever. >> That's why you're going to jail. >> Is that on my if I Wait, I can get this taken off. >> This will be on your criminal record >> forever >> if you're convicted. Yeah. You're not convicted right now. You're just under arrest for >> Okay. >> Okay. You can still go to judge and you can you can go through you can go through the court process and they'll be able to answer all those questions. I just >> all the bills or would that like bring some money of that down? >> I don't know. You you'd have to ask the judge >> that says on there. >> Okay. So it's it's sorry this is kind of >> um so obviously it's zero. Uh all this stuff is subject to change. That's why there's a sticker on. Okay. >> You're going to jail. You're going to see a judge on Monday. Probably probably >> probably in the morning or early afternoon, maybe late afternoon. Mondays is kind of a course of peace. Sometimes >> you got arrested on a Saturday, so you'll be in the >> in the rotation. >> Maybe not one of the first ones. Maybe like a Friday night you'll be first, but you're I mean it's about noon on a Saturday depending on how many people got arrested in the county. You're in that line somewhere. Okay. So, obviously these this is called a criminal citation. It's just a piece of paperwork I have to issue to you. It's going to be included in all your property once you get to jail. Okay. You have any questions about this stuff? >> No. >> Okay. This pink sheet goes with the the two first tickets. It just gives you some information on how to handle it court at the court level. Okay. >> Obviously, it's not the best paper and it blows in the wind, but you'll get you'll get these are your copies. Okay. If you have any questions, all my information is going to be on them. Port number, name, everything like that. Okay. >> Okay. We're going to go to jail. Okay. I'll tell you this. If you would have pulled over yesterday, probably would have got a warning if you were cool. I'm serious. I am one. I don't write people tickets kind of stuff. >> All right. So, pull over next time, man. You pulled over all the other times officers pulled you over. >> It's a little bit of advice for you. Okay. Just pull over. >> And even if you do get a ticket, it would it probably would have been less than $100. It I think it's $97. So, just be cool with us. Be cool with me and I'll be cool with you. Uh, let me just got to take a photo of you real quick. All right. Try to look at me. It's not the greatest angle. All right. Since we're not booking you and because you're wearing the same shorts. What What shoes are you wearing? Different Vans. >> Okay. >> Yeah. You got to remember this, man. Everything's on camera. >> So, you're wearing the same shorts as you were yesterday. You don't have any drugs in your um in your wallet shoved in there or anything? I didn't go through it. All right. So, here's the deal. >> I'm going to tell you this. Okay. I'm going to take this back to the police department and I'm going to test it for THC. Okay. If it >> apparently it says like THC or something. >> Okay. But here, I'll explain this. Let me finish. If it tests negative, it gets held for safekeeping and you can come to the police department and pick it up. >> If it if it tests positive, >> if it tests positive, then I get I write you another ticket >> for for THC. There's residue, man. I'll test the residue. Okay. I want to let you know this girl or >> Yeah. Yeah. We're almost there. What do you like? You like Alice and Chains? >> Jelly Roll. >> Not Jelly Roll. Look at this. Do [Applause] >> you know what would be wrong with my bike? Did I clean the car? I took everything out. I cleaned it all. >> Do would I know what's wrong with it? >> Huh? >> You asking if I know what's wrong with it? >> Yeah. And my dad, dude, he put in He put in freaking 93. You're only supposed to put in 83. But >> Sounds like Sounds like karma, right? >> What? >> Sounds like karma. >> Probably. But like, no. I just was driving around and told my dad, "Dude, can just bring get some gas, dude, and I'm just going to fill my bike up. I'm only like two bucks to fill it up." And he brings me 93, dude. And he ruins my bike. >> Nemana was found guilty for vehicle operator fleeing or eluding an officer. He was sentenced to 120 days in jail and 2 years of probation.
