on October 18th 2023 officers from the monoman Falls Police Department responded to A Flock alert on a stolen U-Haul reported out of [Music] wosa 117 I'm in driver going have you put both hands on the stream though please thank you hi there sir I'm officer Los in Romy Falls Police Department um reason I'm stopping here today is I got to figure out what's going on with your vehicle here this this uh U are you uh doing deliveries or something with this thing or what's going on I rented it rented it okay you're the you're the name on the the renter all right do you have that information no okay do you have your driver's license all right Drive capital okay what was the duration of your rental for uh 2 days two days how long ago was that two days ago oh okay uh well I think what what U-Haul's done is they've reported it that that this vehicle is missing so so that's why I'm stopping out with you here um do you have any information about that where is that home yeah is this your current address on Riverview I got to look into this it's going to take a little bit what what you got loading up in here nothing nothing you're empty yeah so you were at Penny Mustard where you were supposed to be picking something up or something no is rolling mdle Circle going to return it Wai from waiting for a ride to meet up there so that's that's your plan is to have a ride meet you at the UL place to have return you or to return the vehicle so they can pick you up yeah all right so you're empty back there what what you that's just that is that the signage dri there is that what all that is all stolen they can come out and recover it and everything and what's that if if they want to say then they can come out and recover it you know we'll we'll hang tight with them too would probably come March there's the agent telephone special rules shall have no contact with the U-Haul location as noted in the criminal complaint so this is a common theme this is a common theme how long as he said he's had it two days does he have paperwork no it's all at home he's he's he's he's full of [ __ ] I he's up to something I just don't know what it is but when when you look at him his record he's on paper he's on paper for oh now I lost it there it is Criminal damage he's on paper for criminal damage and operate without consent abandoned vehicle uh and then his uh his special rules are Special Rule one you shall have no contact with the U-Haul location as noted in the criminal complaint so clearly this is a repeat behavior and he was going to go right and then saw LW and and just you know kind of that evasive type yep yeah he's I mean the wheels were full crank to go south on Falls Parkway then all of a sudden he should you have him come back then and detain him until we get down ready ready for the foot pursuit no that's how you hop back in the car I learned that from Dean Duffy hop back in the car so I mean yeah we we can his his story is BS he says you know like he says he doesn't have the papers with him he says he was on his way to return it what store did he he was right at Penny mon no I'm saying what store did he rent it from I wonder if he the one tosa so he said he was on his way to return it I'm like well what do you mean you're on your way to return it you were hanging out behind Penny Mustard and he's like well yeah I was trying to get a hold of someone to meet me there so I can get a ride away from there what was he picking up nothing buying time yeah he was buying time till his ride till his ride could meet him at the U-Haul location to pick him up right yeah right is it worth calling toast to say hey do you guys have a suspect or who rented this thing actually giving their agency a call that's fine yeah I mean I I pa 113 go ahead number do you want us to or was he coopera with you yeah I mean he's Cooperative inun I I I ran away asked him hands up on the steering wheel and he just you know you he he is the phone number for to isn't in the the hit uh the phone number is I was just going to try to see whatever officer was willing to come out or investigate I'll go call TOA no when did he say it was due today it's not you know it's clearly they entered it stolen yesterday it's clearly not due today that's right whenever he gets to hold the toas or whoever see when it was due and then we can maybe just refill the interview him and mhm well that's why there's no rush for anything right now we can just as long as he's Cooperative he was if he wasn't we oh I I would have had him out with you right when you approached you know as soon as I would have seen you I would have had him get out yeah you know I as far as I'm concerned let's try to avoid putting him in handcuffs until we know what we have yeah because now all of a sudden he might clam up and not want to talk and now it makes our job harder to figure out what it is that we're really doing here um you know do you want me to start calling his agent I mean that might not be a terrible idea yeah I think you wait cuz they're going to ask do you have new Chargers on them yeah yeah well you're right yeah we should wait on that too so I don't know why he's well he can figure out the tosa thing I guess yep well I was going to have them leave a cell phone number and then we could just talk cop to capop to say hey here's what we got you know what what is what is your victim looking to do to on top of it do they just want this thing back I mean did they you know because how many times have we had stuff where people are like well yeah I want the vehicle reported stolen but I'm telling you right now it's my kid and I'm not going to prosecute him when you find him you know and it's like okay well then why would we put new charges on somebody you know yeah so the vehicle was stolen from 11700 West Capital uh it hit a bunch of cars on the way out hit other trucks the key was taken from a lock box outside the truck oh so okay um they've got video and all that kind of stuff I said we're likely going to take him in for operating motor vehicle consent we can coordinate with them for the motor vehicle theft and hit the run and all that kind of stuff oh yeah yeah so I'm assuming they're going to want to send one of their texts out here to photograph all the damage and anything else that's done to this I don't know we is just have a toad just have a toad have a toad okay and then we'll just take him into custody and take him back probation at the at the PD y EAS sounds good oh yeah all right Ben here's the here's the the deal that's going on all right buddy so I'm going to have to step out of the vehicle here we're going to talk the rear of the vehicle you can take your items with you right back this way all right um so this vehicle ended up getting reported stolen I'm not here to ask you a bunch of questions about it but we do have to take you back with us okay so um can hand that over turn and face the vehicle here place your hands behind your back for me someone been detective bu but no specific detective has been assigned to it so we don't really have a number for all right man I'm not here to you know have you be tortured in these handcuffs but they do have to be to some degree of tightness are they hurting you at all all right do you have anything I need to know about head time for I start reaching hands in the pockets I really just don't want to get poked with anything I don't use needles that's good have guns and well I'm I going well I'm going to you over by by the front of our I was suspect was found to be on probation for the same felony offense for operating a vehicle without the owner's consent he was booked and transported out to the wakashaw countyy jail
