On October 30th, 2024, a woman called police in Washington to report that her car had two flat tires and she needed help getting home. Responding officers saw the car with its hazard lights on, but when one officer went to the driver's side window, she found the driver acting a little odd. The window was rolled up and she stared at me for a moment before rolling the window down, says the police report. I immediately noticed an odor of alcohol coming from inside of the vehicle. Her speech was slow and her eyes were extremely glassy. Sadly, the woman claimed that her friends who were with her, whom she was giving a ride home, took off running before police arrived. Once police further inspected her vehicle, they noticed damage beyond just two flat tires. >> I just want to see what your car look I just want to see what your tires look like. see what we can do. >> Oh. >> As the mystery unfolded, the young woman would reveal strange, painful bruises on her side. >> It hurt right here. Like, do you have a specific area where it hurts? >> But would police ever find out what really happened? Keep watching to discover more. >> Uh, my friend's house. We just left and They're like, "Oh, you know, your tire might be flat." And I was like, "No, like whatever." And I was like, "Oh, wait. Like, my tire is flat." So, >> okay. Lake Street. >> Oh, you're not that far. >> Okay. >> I just don't want to drive it home. Like, this is a, you know, >> I don't blame you. Okay. >> You know, I don't >> What's What's your first name? Is it Tori? >> Tori. Okay. >> All right. So, how much have you had to drink? Not much. I was with my friends. We fell asleep. That was that. I'm like, "Oh, can you take this home?" Must have I wonder if you hit the curb or something. >> There were some girls there that didn't like me. >> Okay. >> But I just want to go home. I don't >> Do you think they did this to your car or what? >> Possibly. Okay. When you guys were drinking earlier tonight, how much did you have earlier? 9:00. Um, just drinks. What? >> What? What were you drinking? >> Saltzers. >> Okay. Anything serious? I just want to go home. I don't want to be you. Okay. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law. You have the right at this time to talk to a lawyer and have them present while you're being questioned. Okay? If you cannot afford to hire a lawyer, will only be appointed to represent you before questioning if you wish. And you can decide at any time to not answer any questions or make any statements. Let's leave them on. >> They don't help me see. Do you want me to leave them in the car then? Do you want me to take them with us? Just >> Okay. Let me Let's get your stuff and then we will I'll make sure your car's shut off and locked. I just don't want your battery to die tomorrow. You don't need that on top of trying to get everything figured out. Let's go back to my car, please. Let's see. We're going to go to the back seat. Do you have anything on you that's going to poke hurt me? Okay. I just have to check and make sure you don't have anything on you. All right, separate your legs for me. I'm going to use the back of my hand. Make sure you don't have anything in your in your groin. Okay. All right. Let's step in, please. I know it's kind of tight. You got it. All right. We're going to transport you over there to the just to the station. Have you had a DUI before? Okay. Well, then you'll get released pretty shortly. Okay. >> Um, and then just so you know, you're being video and audio recorded while you're in here. >> Can I Do you care if I make sure your car's locked and turn the flashers off? >> I don't have to. >> No. >> Okay. Can I at least make sure it's locked? Okay. >> You could actually Yeah, go ahead. >> That I can turn the lights off. Yeah. Okay. Let's see. [Applause] Where is the black? Oh, [Music] heat, heat. Heat. Heat. Great. [ __ ] [Music] 46. I'll be transporting the RP. It's an adult female. Heat. Heat. Heat up here. Heat. Heat. [Music] Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. [Music] Heat. Heat. Heat. [Music] Sorry your buddies left you. Okay. Thank you. >> Huh? >> You need a triple eye? >> Yeah. All right. [Music] All right, Tori. So, there's a bunch of paperwork we have to go through before we can get you into a into a room. It's very boring paperwork, but I have to go through it verbatim. Um, so just try and stick with me, okay? >> Um, I'm already on. >> Are you okay? >> I just [ __ ] it up. >> I don't know. I don't I'm sure they're going to know. I'm so close. Okay. I mean, I'm sure the court's going to let them know. I'm not going to let them know, but I'm I'm assuming it's they're going to know. >> Okay. I don't want to be recording. >> What? >> Just recording. Nothing. I don't I don't know if that happens in here. I don't What do we No consent to [ __ ] recording. Okay. Well, I have to record. It's the law. Like everything is recorded during interactions. So, I'm sorry. I know that's not what you Can I Can I look in your mouth? Okay. All right. So, this is kind of dry, but will you listen? Okay. All right. So, right now, I'm just going to read your constitutional rights again like I did out out there. Okay. So, right now, you have the right to remain silent. Anything you say this or sorry, you have the right at this time to an attorney. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law. And let's see, you're not under 18. Let's see. Um, you have the right to talk to an attorney before answering any questions. You have the right to have an attorney present during the questioning. If you cannot afford to hire an attorney, one will be appointed for you without cost if you so desire. Um, and you can exercise these rights at any time. Do you understand? Okay. Will you just sign saying that I read I read these to you? [Music] just by that X. And if you want to read it again, you are more than welcome to [Music] [Music] Come on. [Music] Sorry. >> You're okay. So, and then this next line says, "I understand my constitutional rights. I have decided not to exercise these rights at this time. Any statements made by me are made freely, voluntarily, and with without the threat of promises of any kind." And then if you want to sign there, you can. All [Music] right. So, the next page, this is the one that's really hard. It's just listen as much as you can and if you have questions, we can we can get you in touch with someone to help you with the questions. Okay. All right. So, this is the implied consent warning for breath right now. Um, you are under arrest for RCW4661502 driving or or RCW4661504 driving or being in actual physical control of a motor vehicle while under the influence of intoxicating liquor and/or drugs. Further, you are now being asked to submit to a test of your breath which consists of two separate samples of your breath taken independently to determine alcohol concentration. One, you are now advised that you have the right to refuse the breakfast and that if you do refuse a your driver's license permit or privilege to drive will be revoked or denied by the Department of Licensing for at least one year and your refusal to submit to the test may be used in a criminal trial. Two, you are further advised that if you submit to this breath test and the test is administered, your driver's license, permit, or privilege to drive will be suspended, revoked, or denied by the Department of Licensing for at least 90 days. If you are um age 21 and over and the test indicates alcohol concentration is 0.08 or more or you are in violation of 4661502 driving under the influence or 4661504 physical control of a vehicle under the influence or if you're 20 or if you're under the age of 21. How old are you? Are are you under 21 still? I just can't remember. I know you were 21 last time I talked to you. >> Huh? >> No, I wasn't 21. Talked to me. >> Are you now? >> No. >> No. Okay. Um, so if you're under the age of 21, the test indicates alcohol concentration of your breath is 0.02 02 or more or you are in violation of RCW 4661502 for driving under the influence or 4661504 physical control under the influence. Number three, if your driver's license permit or privilege to drive is suspended, revoked, or denied, you may be eligible to immediately apply for an ignition interlock driver's license. >> It's like the blow and go. Um, in four, you have the right to an additional test. >> I just want to go home. >> I get it. >> I don't Oh my god, this is my [ __ ] second time here. It's [ __ ] ridiculous. >> Can I Can I finish reading this out to you? >> Sorry. >> All right. So, you have the right to an additional test um administered by any qualified person of your own choosing. >> So, >> okay. What's that going to do? I just >> like um [Music] >> I'm sorry. >> You're okay. >> I'm not meaning to be rude. >> You're not being rude. I get it. This is stressful. Okay. So, you're not driving a comm commercial motor vehicle. Let's see. So ultimately will you just sign saying that I read you this right read you this. It's not meaning that yeah it doesn't mean that you agree to do anything. It just means that I read it to you or that you read. So it says I have read or have read to me the above statements and you can reread it if you would like. [Music] [Music] [Music] So, if I refuse now, I I didn't understand you. What? If I refuse now, my driver's license will be vote or denied basically. >> Yeah, that that's what I believe that's what it says. >> Licensing [Music] right here. If you refuse to refuse test, if you refuse your driver's license, I don't privilege whatever will be denied by the Department of Licensing for at least one year. Yeah, that's what it says. [Music] [Music] All All right. And then so this next question is, will you now submit to a breath test? >> So, okay. After just >> Well, after the test, if if you're willing if you're willing. I mean, I'll give it to you either way, but >> Okay. So, you're willing. You're willing to do it. Okay. >> I have to wait. Can we wait? Let's see. Five more minutes. And then I'll get you water in like 10 minutes and then we'll get you a blanket and everything. >> Hey, I'm going to get you out of here as fast as I can. >> So traumatized. I have no way home. >> Okay. The car is >> We'll get you We'll get you out of here. I mean, you're being honest about not having DUI. So, >> I You're being honest to me. Some people lie to me about how many DUIs they've had. So, I know we checked. So, you'll be released. You'll be You'll be released as soon as I get this done and then get the paperwork done inside. [Music] Does that sound as fair as it it can be? I'm not going to hold you for 6 hours. [Music] Okay. So, while we wait cuz there's just a time period I have to wait. Um would you be willing to answer some of these questions? >> Like >> you can tell me no and or you can answer which ones you want or which ones you don't want >> on my own. Can I answer like can I read them or you have to read them to me? >> Sure. If you want to read them and answer them, you go ahead. [Music] [Music] You know how much trouble I'm in? I I know it's not the best situation right now. Are you talking about with like someone else or just in general with my already probation for being here? [Music] >> Okay. I've taken medicine's birth control. >> Oh, what? Have you taken any medicines/d drugs in the past 24 hours? >> They just want to know like if you were on prescription. >> No [Music] prescription. Well, yeah. >> Oh, okay. Well, you do take prescriptions. >> Just birth control. >> Oh, that >> so that would I mean you could say yes and just say what it is. [Music] Austin [Music] 51 Still cocaine. [Music] [Music] [Music] Do I have to answer all these? >> No, you can answer whatever you want. [Music] sleeping. [Music] I was on stage direction of travel I don't know the direction started from apartments [Music] state what happens if I don't answer these Nothing. [Music] [Music] >> What are these? >> That's all for me to do. Okay. So, you only have a few seconds left to wait. I'll give you I'm going the wrong direction here. This is the do hearing. I don't know if you remember that on the implied consent. You can read through this. This is what will ultimately allow you to get your driver's license back with conditions. And it's not it doesn't mean it's suspended right now. It will be it. It takes a while before it actually gets suspended. I think it's like 90 days. [Music] Somebody know >> in a little bit. Yep. Do you mind just keeping your hand away from your mouth until we're done with this? I know that's annoying, but [Music] can I like wipe my >> Yes. Go ahead. Okay. Um, I have a question. So, I'm not from here. >> Oh, your driver's license from California, isn't it? >> No, it's from Washington. I'm not like a resident here. Does that matter in a way? But you have a driver's license here. >> So driver's license. >> Okay. I don't honestly know. >> What What ethnicity are you? >> I'm black. >> I didn't want to I didn't want to guess. >> That's okay. [Music] Um, I don't know if the mattress, but the address is not mine. Okay, it's fine for this. If I could just get an updated one in a minute. They're going to need it. Yeah. You live in Pullman, right? Yeah. Okay. Let's see. What is your Pman address? [Music] Do I have to go to >> So I need an address in Pullman so that I know you live here otherwise I'll have to take you to the county jail and I don't want to do that. >> Yeah, I don't I don't want to do that. Okay. So, what you'll do, what I'm going to have you do is you're going to blow into this like you're kind of blowing up a balloon. So, keep a steady breath. I'll kind I'll guide you on how how I need you to do it. You'll hear a tone and so just keep blowing until I tell you to stop. It's It's just I need like 5 seconds. Ready? What? You You can't touch it. I I don't know why they don't want you to touch it. Ready? Blow. Blow. Blow. Blow. Blow. Blow. You're halfway done. Keep going. Keep going. Keep going. Keep going. Go. It's just cuz I have to pull it out of your mouth instead of stopping. [Applause] >> What? This this is that the >> percentage or >> we have to do one more breath and then then it'll print out what the what the your alcohol content is. >> It just has to go through. You're going to hear that it's purging making sure that each sample's independent. [Music] See? And if you could just keep your hands away from your face. We're almost done with that. And then I'll get you [Laughter] and I'll try and get as much of this paperwork done as fast as I can. cuz I want I you know I want to get you out of here. So and then another condition of not taking you to jail. This is just a holding facility is that you promise you will appear at court in the morning or well today. It'll be today. It'll just be later today. Um, what time? >> See, it's today's Wednesday, correct? >> Class. >> It would be at 3:00. >> 110 to 2. It's in Kfax. >> Yeah, it's This one's in Kfax. Sorry. It goes every other day. So, it'd be in Kfax. Do you know where to go in Kfax? >> Okay. Is it to pay tickets? >> You same place for driving tickets. >> Honestly, I don't know. The address is right. >> Okay. >> I'm sure it probably is. I'll circle it so you know. It's 10. >> What happened? Sorry. Any like bruises on my side? >> I don't know. Yes, >> I do. >> What happened? Your whole side is bruised. >> Are you okay? Did you get into a fight? >> Okay. Did somebody hurt you? Okay. I'm just worried about you cuz that's a pretty big bruise. >> Is there a mirror somewhere? >> We don't have any. I can take a picture and then I can show you kind of turn to the light. [Music] Can you see it? Do you want me to have medics look at you? Okay. I'm just concerned about you. August the 30th is 0342. [Music] [Music] and we'll get this last one done and I'll get you some water. Do I just have to stay here still after? Yeah, I have to go do some paperwork and then I'll get you out of here. All right. And then we'll blow. Just blow just like you did before. Keep going. Keep going. Keep going. Keep going. You're halfway there. Keep going. Keep going. Keep going. All right. >> You You'll have to, but we have this stuff to do first. It's not going to be 6 hours. I was trying to keep >> I know. Do you need one now? Do you have one? Okay. [Music] >> Okay. Can you sign just saying that you will go to court if if you are willing to go to court today? That way we can get you out of here as soon as I get my paperwork done. Cuz if you don't end up going to court, you're going to get they're going to send a warrant for your arrest. And you don't want that, too. [Laughter] [Music] Get your cup. Here's a cup. And then I'll have you go in go into cell A. Then you just get some water out of there while we're waiting. Are you sure you're okay? Ow. Please. Okay. Can I have medic check? Okay. What happened here? Let me see. There we go. Okay. >> Like ibuprofen. >> I can't give you anything like that. >> Can they? >> Huh? >> Can they? >> The medics I don't think can. >> So, can you come back out here and we'll finish up? I know. I was just getting you water. and then we'll get this all finished up here. Okay, so your blood alcohol was 02. >> Okay, >> so that means >> 02. >> Oh, no, it's 02.2. Okay, I thought I read it wrong. It's 2. So it is you're going to be charged with a a regular DUI. Okay, let's I'm going to get as much done as I can as fast as I can. Um I'm going to have to have you take off your necklace and your earrings. >> Okay. Um >> I struggle sometimes. >> Them are hard. Those things are hard to get off. >> Are you allowed to help? Yeah, if you don't mind. They're so tiny. Did you check what it is? Can I scroll? >> I can't. I can't. No. Am I? >> No, not right now. >> Again, you're not going to be here very long. The longer we sit in here, the longer it's going to take to get you out of here. So, can you take off um Let's see. Do your belly button ring, too, if you could. And then your ring on your finger. I'll let you leave the nose ring and the earring in. [Music] That's fine. That's fine. Just leave it. belly button. >> Yeah, if you would. And does the string come out of your pants? Hey, I'm going to work on it. I want to go home, too. So, I'm going to try and get everything done quick. >> I cannot straighten out my pants. >> Yeah. >> Um, >> if it comes out, that'd be I know sometimes they don't. I can't. >> All right, that's fine. We'll leave it. >> I'm not going to do anything. >> Okay. Please don't Please don't make me regret it. Leaving that there. I'm going to count your money in front of you that way. >> Did you fall on something? Do you do you remember what happened? >> I just want to make sure you're safe. Okay. >> Did one of the boys do that? Okay. [Music] >> Did a Was there a fight tonight? No fight. No other case. >> Okay. All right. So, will you watch me? Count your money, please. >> All right. >> I love $2 bills. >> 2 4 6 8 10 >> 2 4 6 >> 12 >> 12. Can I? >> Yeah. I don't care. >> Yeah. >> 20 Okay. Just hope that it's fine. Cuz I'm really hurt. >> Yeah, let me have them come out. It's all right. Pullman 4 for six. Can you have medics come to the PD for a bruised rib? I believe. >> What? >> Water? >> Yeah, go for it. Mhm. Um, really scar. >> What? >> From being in that room. I don't. >> Um, do you want to go in the other one? >> Uh, no. >> Okay. Oh. Um. Glasses. >> Yeah, if you want to. >> Don't drop it, though. Huh? >> No. I'll give you a blanket. All right. Can you just sign saying that I took your property and then you'll get it back later? >> No jewelry on here. Oh, shoot. Thank you. See, that's why I wanted you to check. Let's do earrings ring. I'm letting you leave it, but it's still here. And belly button ring. [Music] President I know. I don't know what it's called. I don't know why they say it like that. Cuz you're not in prison. Okay. And then will you just sign right here saying that I gave you this form? That's all that that's saying. That's the do hearing. I know this is a lot, but the more we get done right now, the quicker we can get you out of here. But you don't have to sign in if you don't want to.
