March 11th, 2025, Vernon County,
Wisconsin. At approximately 3:13 p.m.,
the Vernon County Sheriff's Office
received a 911 call reporting active
vandalism at St. Peter's Lutheran Church
in Stoddard. The caller stated that a
male and female were inside the church
damaging property. The suspects fled the
scene in a blue Subaru heading
southbound on County Road K. The caller
captured a photo of the vehicle and its
license plate which was registered to
EMTT Riley Rather.
All right.
So
I'm Peter.
Peter Deputy. Can you tell me
what uh
I was over my house? It was
brown trailer house over there. Okay.
And the motion detector went off inside
here.
 Okay.
You know, I I get that on my
phone. I didn't see this car parked
right here
and I that didn't look right. And I see
the door was propped open. So, I drove
over here and I I started seeing all the
busted out windows and stuff. I went
downstairs and that's trashed.
And I went upstairs and the two were boy
and girl were up at the top of the steps
there. Thank god I caught him before
they started trashing me upstairs.
 Okay.
But I was going to grab him, but he had
a damn hammer in his hand, so I let him
go. You guys deal with him.
 All right.
Can you tell me what he was wearing?
 Oh
god. Well,
hold on.
Okay, that was the car.
 Okay. And
that's him. There should be another
picture here.
And that's the two of them.
There's a boy and a girl.
 Okay.
Did they say anything to you?
 He gave me
some kind of [ __ ] about a bad
experience that happened to them here
years ago.
 Okay.
 Now that a bunch of
crap,
right? I think they're looking for
something to rip off for drug money or
whatever.
 Okay.
All right. And to your knowledge, you
don't know of anybody else that is in
there or
 No, not at all.
You didn't come over. I got a gun. But
hard on a workbench. Well, I had a good
thing cuz I probably check.
[Music]
All right.
All right. That first thing I saw there,
they had the door propped open with
shovel here. Okay.
 Then I start shooting
the bricks
where they go through the window.
[Music]
There's two.
 Yeah.
about I don't know 18 or so.
Um
I don't know if you wouldn't mind. You
know that church on North Stoddard Road?
Sure. I can find it. Yeah, it's uh 162
south here to North Stoddard Road.
 Is it
Lord [ __ ] Church?
 One that goes out to
the Rod Gun Club.
 Yeah,
 Chaseburg Ron
Gun Club there.
 If you wouldn't mind
checking there and then maybe running up
to that county row county road O
address.
 I don't have that one.
 You
don't have that one?
 I can.
 Is it uh
it's 4032A
I believe. But yeah, double check.
 Okay.
That's where we last known address for
the O RO for that vehicle anyway. So
 So
and the church is on North Stoddard.
Yeah. So 162 south right before you get
to Stoddard. You take a ride on the
North Stoddard and then
quarter a mile maybe down the road on
your left hand side. There's another
church back there.
 I'm going to get
photographs here and whatnot. So
 thank
you
Okay, they didn't
Thank God they didn't tamper with the
per I can tell
all these Christmas tree stand up over
there and all these banners were hanging
up around the corner and I see he might
have taken an attempt at the safe there.
I didn't I didn't touch it, but
little marks on the very top there that
this is how I found it. They're both
standing right here.
 Okay.
 Uh thank God
they didn't do nothing up here other
than
what what happened when you got up
here then?
He was standing here and I
said, "Who in the hell are you guys and
what are you doing in here?" and he
started giving me this line of [ __ ]
about a bad experience he had here years
ago, you know.
 Okay.
Well, what did he look like, Peter?
We got on a picture of the guy.
 Oh,
yeah.
 Yeah, we got
 kidding.
This is a This is a felon breaking
something like this, isn't it?
Well, figure all that out here, but
 he
broke the door handle off that door
trying to get in.
wash around this side.
But we're going to have to get all these
windows and [ __ ] boarded up.
Do they need Do they need prints or
something around here or not?
 Nope.
They broke out this one trying to get
in, but the deck is heaved. So they
couldn't open the door. So he must have
went through the window.
Here's
the other thing I saw when I pulled in
the coffee pot going through the window.
I think the thing just paid for itself
if it is 300 bucks a year. Yeah, but it
depends upon who's
these are the pane windows. So that's
going to be able to cross that project
and stuff.
Jesus Christ.
They were trying to steal out of here or
what?
Bomb door.
At approximately 4:22 p.m., a Wisconsin
state trooper located a blue Subaru
matching the description traveling
westbound on County Road, okay, near
Leandowski Lane in the town of Bergen.
The vehicle had no license plates at the
time. The trooper conducted a traffic
stop on the vehicle.
[Music]
104
after
both of them.
 Yep.
 Okay.
They held off until you
 What's that?
They held off very uh kind of before.
Oh, okay. You can get him out.
All right. I'm going to
 Yes.
I'm just going to put her in the back of
my seat.
 Okay.
Um we'll talk when we get
to the jail.
 Okay.
I'll be back with you shortly here.
Do you want to just shoot him to the
jail then?
 Uh yeah.
 Or do you need
anything out of the car? Um
 well, the
car is going to be towed and taken to
our impound. So,
 um that's
Do you want any personal property out of
here? I know you got a little bit of
cash on you and a glove in your pocket
still, but
I think there was like a
 You
have a phone?
 We have like Well, I
Is this your wallet? You want that, too,
then?
 Um, yes, please.
 Okay. And that's
your
 Yeah, that's
 Do you have a rough
fraction on how much cash you see? Looks
like just a bunch of singles, but
 um I'm
a Starbucks barista, so those are my
tips. That's
 okay.
I can if you if you are suspicious about
that, I actually can like give you your
contact information.
 It's not enough
cash to worry about.
 Okay.
 I mean, when
people have like 15 grand cash in the
pocket, then it's kind of weird, but
12 traffic.
Do you want us to have Lacrosse continue
to what we had asked them to do or can
they stand down?
 Nope, they can stand
down. Uh, both of these are the correct
individuals.
Did you have any ID on you at all or?
I'm sorry. I do not have ID on.
I'll just get your information here
then. What's your last name?
 Uh, last
name is O.
O E.
 I mean, just O.
 Okay.
O. Your first name?
 First name is Saw S
W.
Okay.
All right. So, what's going to happen
here is I'm going to wait for another uh
deputy to arrive um and either I'm going
to take it to the jail or
um that other deputy will um cuz the car
is going to get towed uh to our impound.
So,
 Okay.
 Okay.
Is it okay if I can take
my phone because I don't remember my
mom's phone number?
 Okay. Where's your
Where's your phone at?
 Pretty much it is
it should be in the passenger seat. It's
like in a black bag. And then there's
also some other like some of my
medication as well.
 Okay. All right. I
can get that.
So I guess just the black
bag I guess.
 Okay. All right.
 Thank you.
Is that this the one right in on the
passenger seat?
 Yes.
 Okay. With the
computer or whatever in it.
 I think it
should be under there. Yes.
 Okay. All
right.
 Thank you.
What kind of medication are you on?
Uh,
I don't recall. I think someone mailed
that to me, but then other than that,
like that's nothing.
 What's that?
 Uh,
pretty much uh I was I was for like
uh Is it okay if I explain the story to
you?
 The for the pill bottle?
 Yeah,
pretty much. My friend gave it to me.
Okay.
And I just forgot to throw it
away.
Okay. Like your friend has an EMTT
or what? Yeah. Oh,
okay.
Were you ever given like an ID card?
 Uh,
I was, but I do not have it on my
person.
Okay. And I just want to make
sure I got this right. That your last
name is spelled O.
 Mhm.
 First name is S
A W.
 Yes.
And your middle initial is K
as in King. Uh,
 yeah. Kalin.
Howdy.
[Music]
You okay? Okay. Just get you unbuckled
here. step out
and and follow her right into there. I
just got to grab a couple things.
Deputies interviewed Saw in the
receiving cell area after reading her
Miranda rights, which she waved,
agreeing to answer questions. Saw stated
that she and her companion, EMTT Riley
Rather, had traveled from Lacrosse, but
were unfamiliar with the area.
Saw denied any premeditated plan to
vandalize the church. Saw confirmed that
Riley harbored intense negative feelings
towards St. Peter's Lutheran Church and
had expressed a desire to burn it down.
Although initially not inside the
church, Saw eventually entered and
remained with Riley while she caused
damage. Saw stated Riley used various
objects found outside to carry out the
vandalism. Saw also said that when they
left the church, they stopped at an
unknown location and Riley removed the
license plate with the hammer. The
hammer and the license plates were
located the next day by the owner of a
tobacco building. He had come across the
hammer while looking for deer sheds.
While searching the area, tire tracks
were located as well as the license
plates that appeared to have been pushed
through the shed from the outside. Saw
was charged with felony burglary and
criminal damage to property. She was
issued a $2,500 cash bond. EMTT was
charged with felony burglary, criminal
damage to property, possession of THC,
and possession of drug paraphernalia.
He was also given a $2,500 cash bond.
