Hi. >> Hello. How are you? >> Hi. >> How are you? You got your license, registration, your insurance? >> Um, what's the reason you follow, you know, you stop me? >> I'll explain everything to you as soon as I get all your stuff. >> Okay. >> All right. Where you coming from? >> Well, I was at Tommy's. >> You at where? >> Tommy's. >> Tommy's. Okay. >> Yeah. >> What were you doing there? hanging out with my friend. I haven't seen her in like 6 months. >> Oh, yeah. >> Yeah. >> And where you heading to? Just heading home. Home. >> Where's home for you? >> Uh, old bridge. >> Old bridge. Okay. >> Um, let's see. >> All right. Well, the reason for the stop is a couple reasons. You're going back and forth in between your lane. All right. And you're also staying in the left lane. You have to go to the right as soon as you're done passing. Okay, you're right next to that that uh big tanker there. And if you're hanging out right there, he can't see. That's a that's a bad blind spot for them. Okay. So, all right. You got your [snorts] registration, your insurance? >> I didn't know. Um Where's the expiration date on this? >> It's usually on the bottom off to the left. >> Is this it? No. Is this the registration? >> No, that's your insurance card. >> Okay. All the state. Okay. How much you have to drink tonight? >> Not much. >> How much is not much? >> Like two margaritas. >> Two Two margaritas. >> We We had food, too. >> You had food? Okay. Was it good? >> It was all right. >> It was okay. >> It wasn't the best. >> All right. What's your first name? >> My name is Tamara. >> Tamara. All right. Tomorrow, I'm going to have you step out. Just do a couple field sobriety test. Make sure you're okay to drive home. Okay. Okay. >> All right. Why don't you take that? Why don't you put that back in your car for me? 359 count one out. I have high ears on. >> Okay. >> All right. If I get to that point, I may have you take them off just so that you can do so you can do the test comfortably. Okay. >> Uh can you dash my eyes, Chris? >> I saw you put glasses on. Do you have any problems with your eyes? Like you don't have any fake eyes. Just reading glasses. Okay. But you don't have any fake eyes or anything like that, right? No. Okay. I know it's a strange question, but I have to ask cuz I never know. Okay. Um do me a favor. Just step up for me. >> Okay. Put your feet together for me. Hands down at your sides. >> Okay. Do you see the tip of my pen? >> Yes. >> All right. What I want you to do is with your eyes and your eyes only, without moving your head, just follow the tip of my pen. Do you understand? >> Okay. Yes. Heat up here. Can I blink? >> Yeah, you can blink. >> Okay. Heat. Heat. Heat up here. Okay. Do you have any problems with your legs or anything like that that would prevent you from walking in a straight line? >> No. >> No. Okay. Um I'm going to have you take those off just so that you feel more comfortable doing it. Okay. I'm going to try and make this as quick as painless as possible. Okay. Um so why don't you do me if you just take >> with my heel on? Well, part of this test requires you touching heel to toe. And if your heels, I mean, they look like they're about what about four or five inches off the ground. So, your heel is not actually going to be touching your toe. So, it's going to make it a little difficult to do. >> Going to be more pain to take these off than the walk. >> Oh, really? >> I I can walk. Trust me. >> No, no. I understand that you can walk, but again, part of the test is for your heel your your to heel to toe. >> This is really necessary. Yeah, I'm like literally 10 minutes away. >> Well, like I said, I want to make sure that you're getting home and I want you get getting home safely. Okay, >> I understand. >> But I'm really fine. >> Okay. Well, if I believe everybody that told me that, I wouldn't be a I wouldn't have a job. So, and like I said, if you pass these with no problem, I have no problem letting you go and be on your way home. Okay. Hey. >> Okay, come on over here. We're going to use this white line as a reference. Okay. >> All right. What I want you to do is I want you to take your left foot, place it on that line in front of you. Take your right foot, touch in front of it, touching heel to toe. Keeping your hands down at your sides. Put your right foot in front of it touching heel to to tail. Keep your hands down at your sides. And I want you to remain in that position as I explain and demonstrate the test. Don't start until I tell you to. Do you understand? Okay. When I tell you to, you're going to take nine heel totoe steps forward. As you're walking, you're going to look down at your feet and you're going to count out loud each step. It's going to look just like so. One, two, three, all the way up to an including nine. >> Okay. >> Once you get to your ninth step, keep your front foot on the line. Take a series of small steps. You're going to turn around and you're going to do nine heel to toe steps back. 1 2 3 all the way up to an including nine. Again, as you're walking, I want you to look down at your feet. Count out loud each step, keeping your hands down at your sides. And once you start the test, I don't want you to stop until you're complete. Okay? Do you understand those instructions? >> Do you have any questions? >> Yeah. >> You can begin whenever you're ready. >> 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 Step off. >> 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8. >> Okay. Any problems with being able to stand on one leg? >> No. >> No. >> This is not even. This is like tilted a little bit. >> No, it's pretty flat for me. So, okay. What I want you to put your feet together for me. Hands down to your sides. You're going to take the leg of your choice. Doesn't matter which one it is. Your right or left leg. whichever one you feel more comfortable with. You're going to pick that leg about 6 in off the ground. It's going to look just like so. You're going to point your toe out. You're going to look down at your foot. You're going to count out loud. 1,00 1,002 1003 1004 until I tell you to stop. Okay? >> 100,00 1,002 >> 1003 1004. You just keep on going until I tell you to stop. Again, keeping your hands down at your sides, keeping your foot raised about 6 in off the ground, and pointing your toe out. Okay? Do you have any questions? >> Yes. Do you have any questions? >> Even normal people can't do that. No, I don't. >> Even normal people can't do that. Well, I I just did it and I didn't have any problems. >> No. If you if I ask you to do it until I tell you to stop, would you be able to balance your one leg? >> Absolutely. >> Okay. Can you try so to show me? >> Well, it's it's not for me to de I demonstrated it for you. >> I'm already passing all this test. Okay, I'll do it. >> Okay. Put your feet together for me. Hands down at your sides. Again, whichever leg you feel more comfortable with. You can pick your foot up whenever you're ready and begin. 1,00 1,002 100,005 1006 1007 1008 1 9 10 1 1234 1 1560 17 1 190 1 22324 1 26 >> Okay, you can put your foot down. Okay. How much did you actually have to drink tonight? >> Two drinks? >> Just two? >> Yeah. >> Okay. Cuz based on what I'm seeing is is showing me indicative of that you had a little bit too much to drink tonight. >> No, I didn't. Trust me. I swear to God. >> Okay. Well, I can't I don't trust you. That's part of the problem. >> Yeah, that's okay. >> Okay. >> Please, sir. >> Okay. So, what I want you to do is turn around face that way for me. Put your hands behind your back. Okay, you're being >> No, you cannot handcuff me, sir. Oh my god, my husband. I have to call my husband. >> Well, we're past that point. >> Oh my god. Are you kidding me? >> Wow. Ow. Sir, can I put my shoes on, please? >> Yes, we're going to put your shoes back on for you. >> Can you turn off my >> Walk back this way? >> Wow, sir. Jeez, I have a child at home. >> I understand that. >> Wow. This is very unnecessary. Wow. I'm a diabetic. I need I need my bag, please. >> Okay, we'll get your bag for you. >> I have my PDM in there. I need my type one diabetic. >> Absolutely. >> Wow. before necessary. >> First time I've had to carry shoes back to the car. wallet phone. Yeah, looking for that stuff. Phones in there. There's the glasses. There's a wallet. >> She didn't She got diabetic stuff. >> She didn't give me a valid uh insurance stuff. I guess I'm going to guess that bag right there. That looks like it's all makeup. >> Well, I'm going to be nice and grab it anyway. Here's another pair of glasses. Look in Look in the bag for keys cuz I don't see keys. or something. Ask her where her keys are. Is this the bag that you were talking about for your medicine? >> Both? Yes. >> Okay. Where would your keys be at? >> It's in my black bag. >> Your keys are in your black bag? >> Yes. >> Okay. >> They should be there. >> I need both of them, though. >> Oh, no. I understand that. We're I'm going to take both of them, but the keys have to stay with the car. Oh, there they are. Okay. >> Can I call my husband, please? >> Yep. As soon as we get back to done and done processing, we're going to get >> Sarah, please. Is this really necessary? Like, please. I'm a type 1 diabetic. I need my phone to check my sugar. It's probably high right now. >> It's really high right now. I can feel it. Why is my car Where is my car? What's going on with my car? I need to call my husband. >> Your car is going to be towed. >> No, you cannot tow my car. Why would you pull my car? for John's law. >> You're being ridiculous. >> Got it. >> Yep. I took the key fob off. >> Thank you much. >> Thank you. Registered owner. >> Uh, it's the female. I don't I'm not sure. I didn't run it. Okay. Sir, >> are you really talking to me? Not criminal. I'm not a bad person. >> I didn't say you were >> shoes, please. >> Yes, I do have your shoes. >> You do have my shoes. >> I do have your shoes. >> Are you handcuffing me? >> But I'm not a bad person. I'm not a criminal. You should not be handcuffing me. This is so unnecessary. >> Can I have my phone my phone in my bag? Did you check if my phone is in my bag? >> Yes, your phone is in your bag. my insulin. It's a It's a black It looks like a uh It looks like a small It's in my black bag. It's a small uh It looks like a small phone, but um yeah, it's um here. >> If not, I can have my partner look inside before he said it looks like a little phone. >> It should be here. I had it with me. Oh, don't tell me it fell in the car. >> If it does, I can have my partner come and bring it to us as soon as he's done. Okay. >> Important. >> Let's check the other bag. I don't think it was in the other bag. >> Can I check the red back? The brown check on the passenger side on the seat on the floorboards and see if there's a black item she uses for insulin. It looks like a phone, but it's like a remote control. I don't know. It's It's like this big. >> Yeah, probably. >> It's in the car. >> Okay. >> He's going to bring it in. He say he sees it on the on the uh on the seat. Okay. >> Okay. >> Yeah. He said he sees it on the seat. Okay. >> He'll uh as soon as he's done with the paperwork out there, he'll bring it right in for you. Okay. >> How do you say your last name? >> Kazak John. >> Kazak John. >> That's my maiden name. My My marriage name is Bruo. So I'm Kazak John Bruo. >> Okay. So if I call you Mrs. Bruo, that's not >> That's fine. >> That's not improper. All right. I'm going to read you two things here. Okay. I'm going to read you your Miranda right >> sugar is too high. I feel dehydrated. Okay. >> Well, as soon as as soon as he gets in, I'll let you take that. Okay. >> Okay. >> All right. I'm going to read these to you. Okay. And just tell me that you understand yes or no. Okay. You have the right to remain silent and refuse any questions. Do you understand that? >> Okay. >> Anything you say can be used against you in a court of law. Do you understand that? >> Yes. You have the right to to consult with an attorney before speaking to the police and to have an attorney present before and during questioning. Do you understand that? >> Yes. >> If you do not have the money to obtain an attorney, one will be obtained for you at no cost to represent you before questioning. Do you understand that? >> Yes. >> And the decision to renounce these rights is not final and can be revoked when you so desire before or during questioning. Do you understand that? >> Can you repeat that? >> Sure. The decision to renounce these rights is not final. Can be revoked when you so desire before or during questioning. Basically, all it means is that if I'm asking you questions, you can invoke your rights. You say, "I don't want to answer any more questions." That's basically what that means. >> So, I wrote down each one of your responses of yes. You're going to initial next to each one. And then I'm going to read you this one right here. Having this in mind, I certify that I've been notified of my constitutional rights as so indicated by my initials above and that I understand these rights. So just thing saying that you understand them. You're going to sign right on the >> Okay. Can I read them before I I need my glasses? >> Yeah, I just read I just read them to you. >> Yeah, but I I prefer to read by myself also. >> I appreciate that. Thank you. You're welcome. >> You're cooperative with me, which you have been so far. I will help you out when I possibly can. Right. Like I said, you you you indicated this earlier saying that you're not a bad person. I don't think you're a bad person. I don't think I I have a daughter sleeping at home and my husband I don't know I'm going to have to take Uber because I don't want my husband >> Okay. Well, we don't you you can't take an Uber cuz somebody has to come and sign for you. Um >> how is that going to happen with my daughter? She's sleeping. She's 7 years old. >> Okay. Well, I I here's here's what I can do for you. Okay. It doesn't have to be your husband. It can be anybody. >> I don't have anybody here. I I don't have anyone. I don't know anyone here. I'm I'm new around here. >> Okay. >> Can a Can a cop drop me? >> No. Why I cannot take an Uber? >> Because it's our policy and it's the law as well. >> So, I'm going to stay here until I >> No, you got to have somebody come pick you up. >> I don't have anyone to come and pick me up. >> You can come. You can call your husband. Your husband can help you. >> Yeah, but he's going to take my daughter with him. >> That's not uncommon. I've seen that happen. >> I don't want my daughter to come here to pick me up like this. Okay. Well, he can I guess. >> This was very unnecessary. Trust me, it really was. >> Okay. You know what? Maybe I can call someone. >> Okay. Cuz the quicker you call somebody, the quicker you get out of here. And I know you don't want to spend any more time here than you have to. Okay. So, six sign here. >> Mhm. Saying that you understand them. Okay. And you're going to initial next to each one of those responses of yes >> here. >> Mhm. just an initial. Now, there's a a portion of this processing where I ask you questions. Um, if you want to answer them, you certainly can, but you don't have to. It's completely up to you. Okay. Having having in mind these rights, I desire to renounce them and give a voluntary declaration and answer any questions. Do you want to answer those questions or not? [clears throat] >> It depends what kind of questions. >> Well, there I mean, it's nothing it's nothing too crazy. There's just there's a packet and there's questions about >> this packet. >> Yeah, >> there's questions on the inside of it there where I ask you questions like where are you operating motor vehicle? Where were you coming from? Things things of that nature. Again, if you want to answer those questions, that's fine. You don't have you don't have to. You can invoke your right to remain silent if you want to. >> Okay, I'm going to stay silent. >> Okay, that's fine. >> Yeah, I don't want to go through it because I already told you everything. >> Okay, that's fine. >> So, I'm going to What happens if I remain silent? So, I have to >> There's a portion there's a portion of this where I have to read you a long paragraph. >> Uhhuh. >> Okay. At the end of it, you're going to give me either a yes or no answer. >> What kind of paragraph is that? >> I'm going to read it to you. >> Can I get some water, please? >> Um, as soon as I'm done with my 20-minute observation, >> and we're done. If you accept doing the breath samples, then we will then I will give you a glass of water after that. Okay. Uh, say your last name for me again. >> Rulo. Call me Ruo. >> Ruo. >> All right. This is Ruo. You've been arrested for driving while intoxicated. NJSA 394-50. The law requires you to submit samples of your breath for the purpose of testing to determine alcohol content. You're reading too fast. >> Okay, I I'll I'll start this portion again. >> So, >> just listen. Any response from me that is ambiguous or conditional in any respect to my request that you provide blood samples will be treated as a refusal to submit to prep testing. Even if you agree to take the test but then do not follow my instructions, do not properly perform the test or do not provide sufficient breath samples, I will charge you with refusal to submit the breath test. >> Okay. >> I I repeat, the law requires you to submit samples of your breath for testing. Will you submit samples of your breath? Yes. >> Yes. Anybody 10 time three? >> Can you just step back here real quick? Can you go in that room? Yes. >> Take the cover off the machine and push the green button. >> Sounds good for now. >> You're going to be in here for a little bit? >> Yeah, I think so. >> All right. Um, do you want to call your call whoever you want to call to come and get you? I'm going to try like when is this uh >> when is my machine coming? >> Your machine my blood glucose monitor. >> Uh as soon as as soon as the toe picks up your car and he brings it to the impound, I would say probably within the next 20 minutes. >> I I need it right now. It's too high. That's why I'm like I can't breathe. >> Okay. You don't understand how serious I'm type one. I have type two. >> Okay, I understand it. You're >> I have insulin pump. >> Okay, >> it's not working right now because the machine is not with me. >> Okay, as soon as he gets here, I will I'll have him bring it to you. 1679 North Jersey Thomas. Let me call my husband first because he needs to know first. Yeah, it's going up. My sugar is going up because my insulin is not getting delivered. Yeah, it's going up. My sugar is going up because my insulin is not getting delivered. 2 43 stop by where S9 is and grab that uh diabetic machine. She's insistent that she'll need to for her insulin to be pumped down properly. Sure. >> I'm having one of my other partners go to the stop. Grab it. My mouth is getting so dry. Okay. Yeah, he's sleeping. >> What city were you born in? >> Old bridge. >> Old bridge? >> Literally like 10 minutes away. >> No, no. What city were you born in? >> Oh, I wasn't born here. >> You weren't born here. >> I'm not American. >> Okay. Are you a US? >> I am US, but what I'm saying I'm not I wasn't born here. >> Okay. What city were you born in? Kuwait. >> Kuwait. >> Yeah. >> I'm Armenian from Syria, but I was born in Kuwait. You have an email address. Everyone's sleeping. Nobody wants to answer my phone call. >> Do you want to call your friend that you were with? >> She's in Woodbridge and she already texted me that she's home. I don't want to bring her all the way back here now. >> Well, even if she can call Maybe she can call your husband or I don't know if she's friends with him or anything. >> Cuz like I said, I don't want to have to call Old Bridge and have him go knocking on your on your door. Who's going to >> I don't want to have to send Oldridge over there to knock on knock on your your house door to get your husband to come in. >> No, no, I don't want that. I know you don't want that. If I didn't have my daughter, I wouldn't care. But my daughter, I don't want any problems, you know. >> Well, I understand that, but I want to get you out of here. I don't want you to >> I want to get out of here, too. Why you don't let me go with Uber? I don't understand. >> Because we have to have somebody sign what's called a potential liability form, which means they have to take responsibility for your >> Can the Uber guy do it? >> Trust me, I would I would I would wish that >> you really have to do this, sir. I mean, come on. I I was fine. >> I was really fine. This was very unnecessary. I feel like >> 167. How about if a cop drops me and my husband signs? >> Well, bridge is too far out for us to drive here. >> It's right there. Well, it depends where this place is. We just drove north. >> Yeah, it's my sugar is going up now. It's 300. >> Can I have some water, please? My mouth is getting dry. >> Yeah. As soon as we're done with the breath samples, I got to get two good breath samples from you. Soon as you do that, I'll grab some more I'll grab some water for you. Okay. M [clears throat] this is going to interfere with the breath uh with the breath work. >> No, >> you won't. >> Nope. >> Because when my sugar is high, it releases some kind of acid. It's it's like it's called acetone. I don't want that to interfere with the alcohol. >> This is coming from your breath, not from your blood. >> Yeah, but I can't breathe. It's like >> All right. Too much. Stand up for me. You're going to go right over to that gray wall right there. And you're going to look up at that door that's in the ceiling. >> You're going to go right to the gray wall. Put your back to it. There you go. And you'll look right up at that gray that right up there. Take a shot with about >> Yeah, but it doesn't go anywhere. Take a half. >> Are you sure? >> I promise I wouldn't do that to you. Take a half a step to your left. One more tiny step to your left. There we go. All right, look up at that dome in the ceiling. Very good. Keeping your body straight, just turn your head to the left. I'm sorry, to the right. >> Like this? >> Nope. Just turn like this. Watch my head. Turn that way. >> Oh, like this. >> There you go. All right. Good. You can have a seat. 259. Can you send me an IM please? Your 20 minute observation time is 20 seconds. >> 280.
