It's 11:30 on a Saturday morning for some youth football. We were asked to come over here to support um Officer Kellywood's wife and her two kids. Officer David Kellywood was a tribal police officer that worked over here at our neighboring reservation on the White Mountain Apache tribe. It was 2020. He was killed in the line of duty. He was shot down at the casino by Honda, which is very close to where we work. And prior to working as a tribal police officer, he worked uh for the sheriff's office with us as a detention officer. his wife uh requests first responders, the sheriff's office um to come out for one game and basically as a memorial game to support the kids and support the boys for their for their football. So come out here and support them, get some good pictures and just show that obviously still family. You know, it's been 5 years, over five years, but we're still family and you know, it runs strong and deep. So I'm happy to be out here, show our face, show some support for them and just the community and the youth in general. So, um, after this, we're going to go cool down. It's a little warm out. All the Phoenix, all the all the valley people laugh. I say it's warm, but toasty 75°, but go cool down and go do some more patrol for the rest of the day and see what we can find. 243 traffic be festival on mountain drive with the white S10. [Applause] Any weapons in the car, sir? >> No. >> Okay. >> Don't need them. >> What's that? >> Don't need them. >> Don't need them. >> Did you get these tinted or they just Is it new or did you buy it like it? It >> was good to like this. >> What's that? It >> was given to me like >> Oh, okay. Got it, sir. Any weapons in the car? >> No, he already asked that. >> Oh, I'm asking again. >> No. >> Okay, perfect. >> I'm sorry. Did you ask me something? I thought you were talking to her. >> Oh, apparently my boy he's got insurance on it, but he hasn't got the card yet. Oh, >> okay. Oh, so you have no insurance on the truck or you just don't have proof of it? I >> don't have proof of it. >> Proof of it. Okay, perfect. So, >> there's registration to pay for it. >> Okay, that's what Yeah, but I just need insurance. I have a car. >> Don't have it. Okay, perfect. All right, just wait right there, man. What's going on? >> Cuz I know who you are. Step over here. 101 detain. Turn around. Face the car. Know exactly who you are. Okay. >> No. 1041 detained. Okay. I know that you have like four felony warrants for arrest. Okay. I have one felony foration and violation. >> Okay. You have at least three then. Okay. >> Okay. You're under arrest right now for the warrant. Okay. >> Okay. Do you have anything illegal in your pockets? >> Okay. Drop a cigarette. Okay. Turn around, please. >> And my phone. >> Okay. Step back. Okay. Face. >> I don't want him filming me. >> Okay. Well, we're in public, so there's no expectation of privacy. Okay. Have a seat. Gross. >> Okay. Wait right there. Okay. Step out of the car. Do you have any weapons on your person? I know I've already asked you. Okay. Sit on your tailgate. Sit on the bumper. Okay. I know you know she had a warrant. Correct. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. So you're basically aiding her. >> So you know that you know that's a crime in Arizona to aid somebody when they're wanted for a felony warrant. >> It is. You've been basically been harboring a fugitive this whole time. Okay. So now you can see you're getting yourself in some trouble too, right? Okay. So right now you stand up. Okay. You are going to be detained right now. So put your other hand behind your back. to hear my boy. I'll pick it up. >> Good. >> Okay. Have a seat on your bumper, brother. Then for I have a male detained. Okay. So, give me one second. Okay, I'm the only guy here. Okay. Um, we're going to work through it. Okay. But she's been on the run for well over a year now. She's been a wanted fugitive. You're aware of it. You know she's had warrants, man. >> But you know she's had a felony warrant. >> She had a warrant, but I know. >> Yeah. Okay. Um, we're going to put you in this car back here. Okay. Okay. You're detained right now. Okay. Have a seat in there. Oh, go on this side. Thank you. Yep. Okay, go and have a seat, sir. I'm I got him to admit he knew she had a warrant. He's been harboring her this whole time. >> So, that's why he's detained right now. Um I'm going to have to decide what we're going to do with him. But, I mean, I definitely could arrest him for interfering. He's He admitted to me he knows she had a warrant >> and he's been harboring her, driving her >> she's been want she's been she's been wanted for well over I mean almost two years now. She's had like resisting arrest felony. >> Yeah. Well, her husband knew too cuz he tried to contact her. >> Yeah, Jesse filled in on that. Yeah. >> So, basically I think she was getting ready to run. >> So, I'm just like trying to buy time and I'm like, "Okay, no problem. I'll be right back." So basically, I just walk around the car and just walk up to the window and I open the door. I'm like, "Get out of the car." And she's like, "No." Didn't even give her a chance to take off. I'm like, "Get out, unbuckled her. I'm like, "Get out of the car." Because she was the last time she was stopped by law enforcement by Shello PD, she took off and ran. >> So, I just boxed her in right at the door. I'm like, "Get out." So, she couldn't freaking run. So, >> perfect. >> Let me uh let me look at some stuff real quick. >> Okay. So right now he's detained for harboring you cuz >> harboring you don't know. >> Really? Then why'd he tell me he knew? >> I didn't know that he knew. >> Oh, he did. And then your husband was calling in for a welfare check on you and he also mentioned that was aware. He mentioned that. >> I didn't make him aware, so I didn't know that. >> Well, he's aware. So he's been harboring a wanted fugitive essentially and he's aware of that. So that's why he's detained. Are you okay for now though? I got to pee. >> You got to use the bathroom. Okay. >> Um, you are under arrest for those warrants. Okay. Um, before we go to the jail, is there anything hidden on your person? Because it's an extra felony. You don't need that. >> There's not. No. >> Okay. Okay. I just give everybody that opportunity. You know what I mean? I'm going to let a female I'm going to have a female search you. Okay. Just they can do a thorough search of your person. All right. Okay. If you could do that. Sorry. >> Pull her out now. >> Yeah, that's fine. So, not that I care, but if people want to question us, legal limit for tint in Arizona is 33. This is 18%. So, it's 15 below. So, um I know he's been stopped for it before, so he'll get a citation for the tin as well. Step up. I'm going to I'm going to search you. Okay. I know, man. They suck. Okay. So, right now, you're going to be under arrest for harboring a fugitive. Okay. Um appreciate you being cool now. Um, you are going to rece So, oh, just so you're aware too, sir. Um, state of Arizona legal tent limit is 33%, you're 18, so you're about 15% below. So, you are going to receive a citation for the tint as well. Okay. Yeah, I tested it with my tent meter. Okay. >> All right. Just face just face car. Um, I'll help you out. I'm not going to tow it. Um, >> cuz my boy works at the >> Can I just lock it up for you? Right. And leave it parked right there. >> No, you live right there. He's got his own keys, so he left it up. >> So, do you want me to just take the keys? >> Uh, just put them in the center console. >> All right, sounds good. Do you want me to lock the vehicle, though? >> Yeah, please. >> Okay. >> All right, we're going to go in this truck back here. >> Dude, what a great catch, man. >> Yeah, >> just just by chance, we were sitting there and observing traffic and they rolled by. What was going on your in your head as you uh you know you you you were talking to the uh the driver for a little bit and then you're like you know what I'm going to walk around the vehicle and uh pull her out. What was going on your mind at that point? >> Yeah. No, I'm big on on not showing your hand of cards. Um and and that's kind of why I mean I know a lot of people commented on it on videos of like well you tricked them but really I mean it's it's officer safety and we're trying to avoid those fights and we're trying to avoid those foot pursuits. were trying to resolve things and I'm big on not showing my hand of cards and because of you know the the information I had in the back of my head as far as what her warrant was for the propensity for violence you know she's been on the run for well over a year almost two years uh the propensity for violence fighting and and fleeing on foot is a lot higher than than just a minor misdemeanor warrant so really for me I was just trying to go in the element you know kind of a surprise of doing the 180 walking around the truck and just being like, "Hey, I got you." Instead of walking back to my car, giving her opportunity to, you know, ponder more in her thoughts about possibly running, fighting, whatever. But really, yeah, just trying to kind of do that shock factor of, you know, we got you. >> And if I remember correctly, from my point of view, she she did start getting a little squirly there. >> She Yeah, she she was just argumentative, like still trying to play the card of, well, what did I do? You know, I didn't do anything. Why are you why are you getting me out? But, you know, she started kind of pulling away a little bit. So, that's when I just grabbed her and buckled her and kind of escorted her out. I'm like, "Hey, I know who you are. The gig's up." Um, so luckily we were able to resolve that is what it was. Um, kind of just going after it instead of, you know, letting it basically letting it marinate the thought of should I run, should I fight? Um, so I I'm glad it it resolved, you know, without incident. >> Well, such a good catch, dude. in such typical Cooper fashion. Like, you're just a freaking stud, man. Good work. >> Thank you. >> Yep. Good fight. [Music]
